The poster effectively promotes the key themes and tensions in the film by showing a central scene between the young girl and potentially dangerous man. It represents the film's down-to-earth style through a childlike drawing perspective. However, the poster may mislead some viewers by making the encounter seem too innocent rather than tension-filled as it is in the film.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Evaluation Question 2: How effectuve is the combination of your main task and ancillary tasks?
1. EVALUATION QUESTION 2: HOW EFFECTIVE ISTHE
COMBINATION OFYOUR MAINTASK ANDYOUR
ANCILLARYTASKS?
By Jack Woods
2. From looking at the poster what do we learn/understand about the style of/genre
of/audience for of the film/magazine?
By utilising the poster we can get across key themes and issues of the film within the poster. This is
essential to the marketing of the film because it makes important connection between the film
and the atmosphere it creates. By using the children’s drawing as a way of showing its from a
child’s point of view. Its also highlights one of the main scenes that cause tension within the plot
and replicates it.
It also synergises with the review. This is shown in the picture places in the
review. This is very prominent because it is a worm’s eye view and it
Provides a perspective because of the way it is angled upwards like a
small child is watching. This along with the positive review will attract
people who want to see a more intellectual and down to earth film.
3. How effectively does the poster reflect/represent the themes and issues of the film?
The poster highlights the biggest issue within the film and that is stranger danger. This is a big
part of the film this is because the isolated girl is approached by a potentially dangerous man.
This causes the film to get extremely tense because we know nothing about this young adult.
He has a luminous green vest on, this would suggest some sort of community service for a crime
or a accident. This knowledge creates a persona for him, we instinctively think this man is a
trouble maker and is plotting something bad. This then provides the audience a reason to worry
for the safety of the girl. This is also shown through the loneliness of the girl which can be
portrayed by her attachment to inanimate objects. This attachment is then disrupted through
the community offender, by having him within the plot giving her an inanimate object, it creates
an attachment between him and the young girl and this helps drive the story as well as make the
film easier to understand as it provides us with a view of her loving nature.
4. Is the poster constructing representations of
its own?
■ The poster is creating constructing representations on its own, it creates a
representation of the way the film is filmed. By having it in crayon and looking like it is
drawn by a child.
■ This makes you realise that it’s a child’s point of view and the contrast between the
characters means that the focus is going to be on the child and it also shows warning
because of the luminescent green of the jacket meaning this shows you that she will
be in trouble.
■ It focuses on the items, this shows the attachment to the items because they are close
to her and she wants to look after them.
■ The setup of the items also shows that the items are closer to her and not only that, it
could possibly be interpreted as the items link her to him.
5. How does my poster inform my
audience about my film?
■ By using a child’s drawing and also relating it to the young girl and the young adult in
the picture it shows my audience that she is the main focus point as well as the toys
and the young adult.
■ I also think my poster shows my film is quite ambiguous, not having much colour
within the poster as well as having the colour that is there standing out is highlighting
the ambiguity of the young girl and the young adult.
■ I also think that my poster tells my audience enough about my film to interest
audiences. It allows them to see that my film is quite blunt. This is because of the black
writing on the white background and the way the poster gives away a key scene.
6. How far and how effectively does the
poster reflect the style of the film?
■ The film I have shot is very down to earth and quite realistic. The poster reflects this
because it is a picture that looks like its been drawn by a young girl. The way the poster
is drawn looks like a retrospective picture from the girl and through this it could we can
see that the way the film is shot really focuses on the interactions between the young
girl and the young adult this creates tension within the plot and makes for an
interesting poster.
■ I also this that again with the pictures it provides the audience with a sense of tension.
The conventions of the genre create a real world problem and by using the use of a
luminescent jacket and the age of the young adult as well as the young girl create
tension because social realism as a genre can potentially be very dark.
7. How does my poster inform my
audience about my short film?
■ It highlights the main issues within the film.
■ This helps the audience to understand the main themes and issues in
the text. By showing the main scene within the film it makes it easier to
see this is a key point within the text and now only that, it helps
highlight the point that she was most at risk.
■ This makes us very uneasy when we come to the film adding tension
through the poster because on the poster it looks very innocent and in
the film it is quite a tense scene.
8. How effectively does my poster promote my
short film?
■ I think my poster correctly promotes my short film for what it is meant to be.The
way the poster is drawn by a young girl represents the down to earth way I made
my film and this is important whilst trying to attract my audience.
■ It shows them that the way, I’m trying to produce my film. Focused around one
point and one event. This enhances the event to make it more prominent within
the film. This makes it a standout, tense scene within the film and that was what I
was trying to produce with the poster I made.
■ The poster is also drawn for the original images. I think this adds authenticity to
the piece and complements the piece.
9. What preconceptions does the poster
develop in the viewer about the film?
■ It makes my film seem like its about one point. This is a very good thing for my film
because it does centre around one point.
■ It also connotes that its from a young girls point of view. This is another positive
thing as it connotes the right thing and this means the audience wont be mislead.
■ However, I feel that my poster makes the whole encounter look very innocent and
friendly, this is not a good feel for poster as it may mislead some people into
thinking that the film is quite a nice lighthearted film when its not.
