How effective is the
combination of your main
product and ancillary texts?
It is very important that an artist has a sense of branding that is distributed among many
different platforms. This is so that audiences are easily able to recognize the artist and their
products. This may lead to consumer loyalty.
To understand the importance of brand identity, I conducted extensive research into not
only existing products on their own, but products collectively.
For example, I looked into Ariana Grande's brand identity and analyzed the whole of her
album, as well as her website. The link to this analysis Is -

In order to use brand identity in my own products and understand the importance of it, I identified
brand identities within existing artists. I did this by analysing Ariana Grande's album and website, and
Lana Del Rays album and advert for her album. Doing this allowed me to see how brand identity is used
in existing media products and how I was going to use this in my own media products.
When analyzing these products, it was very clear to see what the artists used the same fonts, colour
schemes and clothing throughout these products, to give a sense of continuity and a cohesive brand
identity in their products. Brand identity also anchors representation of the artist.
When looking at my ancillary products together, I feel that
they have a strong sense of brand identity and house
style. The font used is the same throughout all products,
including my music video. The scenery used in the music
video is also the scenery used throughout my ancillary
products, the audience will recognise this and know they
are from the same artist. Brand identity is essential when
maintaining customer loyalty, as they know the artist
through the familiar fonts, motifs and colour schemes used.
I ensured the clothing within the music video and the front,
middle and advert were similar, so that the artist was easily
recognisable for his style. I feel I have used the power of
continuity in all of my products. I feel that the brand
identity has anchored the representation of the artist and
the products – summery.
I undertook extensive research throughout the process of creating my product and ancillary
products, to ensure my target audience believed that the combination of products was
effective. My target audience felt that I had used a stereotypically good looking artist.
My target audience felt this was effective as this is a common convention of pop genre
music videos. I feel that it is very clear to see that my ancillary products belong to that of a
pop genre, this is also backed up by 100% of my audience believing that my music video was
of the pop genre, when shown the music video. - this is talked about here -

It is very common for products of a pop genre to use bright colours for their albums and music
videos.
The colours used on my digipack are very bright and include a conventionally good looking young
male, another typical convention of the pop genre – a conventionally good looking artist.
It was also confirmed by my target audience, that the brightly lit shots made them think that the
album and music video was from the pop genre. This shows that my target audience believed the
combination of the products was effective.

In conclusion.. I feel that my ancillary product and my main product are very effective
when combined.
I feel that I have adopted conventions from previous ancillary products which has
helped my products to be effective. I also believe that it is effective, as, when receiving
feedback, my target audience complimented certain aspects of the products that are
also common codes and conventions of exisiting products, meaning that they thought
these codes and conventions were effective.
The use of the same fonts, colour scheme, scenery and clothing over all of my
products gives a strong cohesive brand identity, making the combination of these
products very effective.
It is very important for the consumer to recognise these things when buying /
consuming the artists product, as it can ensure consumer loyalty, meaning that if the
consumer enjoys this product, they may feel inclined to buy more in the future.

  • 1. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
  • 2. It is very important that an artist has a sense of branding that is distributed among many different platforms. This is so that audiences are easily able to recognize the artist and their products. This may lead to consumer loyalty. To understand the importance of brand identity, I conducted extensive research into not only existing products on their own, but products collectively. For example, I looked into Ariana Grande's brand identity and analyzed the whole of her album, as well as her website.   • 3. In order to use brand identity in my own products and understand the importance of it, I identified brand identities within existing artists. I did this by analysing Ariana Grande's album and website, and Lana Del Rays album and advert for her album. Doing this allowed me to see how brand identity is used in existing media products and how I was going to use this in my own media products. When analyzing these products, it was very clear to see what the artists used the same fonts, colour schemes and clothing throughout these products, to give a sense of continuity and a cohesive brand identity in their products. Brand identity also anchors representation of the artist.
  • 4. When looking at my ancillary products together, I feel that they have a strong sense of brand identity and house style. The font used is the same throughout all products, including my music video. The scenery used in the music video is also the scenery used throughout my ancillary products, the audience will recognise this and know they are from the same artist. Brand identity is essential when maintaining customer loyalty, as they know the artist through the familiar fonts, motifs and colour schemes used. I ensured the clothing within the music video and the front, middle and advert were similar, so that the artist was easily recognisable for his style. I feel I have used the power of continuity in all of my products. I feel that the brand identity has anchored the representation of the artist and the products – summery.
  • 5. I undertook extensive research throughout the process of creating my product and ancillary products, to ensure my target audience believed that the combination of products was effective. My target audience felt that I had used a stereotypically good looking artist. My target audience felt this was effective as this is a common convention of pop genre music videos.   • 6. It is very common for products of a pop genre to use bright colours for their albums and music videos. The colours used on my digipack are very bright and include a conventionally good looking young male, another typical convention of the pop genre – a conventionally good looking artist. It was also confirmed by my target audience, that the brightly lit shots made them think that the album and music video was from the pop genre. This shows that my target audience believed the combination of the products was effective. Existing products My music video
  • 7. In conclusion.. I feel that my ancillary product and my main product are very effective when combined. I feel that I have adopted conventions from previous ancillary products which has helped my products to be effective. I also believe that it is effective, as, when receiving feedback, my target audience complimented certain aspects of the products that are also common codes and conventions of exisiting products, meaning that they thought these codes and conventions were effective. The use of the same fonts, colour scheme, scenery and clothing over all of my products gives a strong cohesive brand identity, making the combination of these products very effective. It is very important for the consumer to recognise these things when buying / consuming the artists product, as it can ensure consumer loyalty, meaning that if the consumer enjoys this product, they may feel inclined to buy more in the future.
