2. Featured Artists
There are different types of artists featured within my magazine.
Although I only developed one character fully in my double
page spread, the other characters I used throughout my media
product, in the contents page and even the front cover, all have a
small amount of depth behind them to allow me to write a little
about them.
Generally, all of the characters within my product follow the
stereotypical rock star, with dark clothing and dark eye make up
for girls in particular. This allowed me to easily present the
genre of music I was depicting as it is plainly obvious the artists
are rock musicians.

3. Front Cover
The female I used for my main image on my
front cover follows the stereotypical rock,
punk/rock theme, with dark eye makeup,
denim jacket with rock band badges on and a
black bass guitar. I used colour scheme
carefully in this image to ensure that the badges
on show in the image mainly consisted of
black, white and red as they followed the
colour scheme I wanted to create but also they
fit appropriately with my chosen genre.
However, the rock genre is mainly dominated
by male artists, so to ensure all of my target
audience would be attracted I added a small
image of a male artist to the bottom left. This
ensured both genders would be attracted and
that the codes and conventions of a couple of
small images would be fulfilled.

4. Contents Page
All of the images on my contents page follow
the colour scheme I decided to create in my
front cover and they all depict stereotypical
rock musicians with dark clothes, t-shirts and
the one blazer. Although the blazer isn’t often
associated with the rock genre, it seemed
appropriate with the character and looked good
in black and white. The use of a blazer adds a
sense of originality and was surprisingly
effective, especially when I applied the black
and white feature.

5. Double Page Spread
The only image on my double page
spread is a close up of the featured
drummer. The large close up shows
precisely who the topic of the article is.
The depiction of this character follows
the codes and conventions of this genre
as he is wearing a dark coat, beanie and
white t-shirt. Although these are al very
simple colours they fit well with the
simple, block colours that are so often
present in the rock genre.

7. By following the codes and conventions of other real rock magazines I
ensured that the institutions interested in their products would be interested
in mine. NME and Q are music magazines distributed by IPC Media and
Bauer, respectively. Both are large media companies that consist of a lot of
smaller brands as well as some of the largest most well-known magazines.
Bauer has provides another media aspect as well with it’s Bauer Radio which
reaches to over 13.3 million listeners every week. The use of these different
media areas within one institution mean that they can attract a wider
audience. The ability to publisher more than one genre of magazine means
they can attract different target audiences and as a result have a higher
revenue.
