6. Who Would Be
The Audience For
Your Media
Product?
Our film is targeted at young adults, 15 years
and above.
Through our research and audience feedback
all the members agreed that our film should
be placed under the 15 rating due to the
intensity and suspense that builds up
throughout the film and the psychological
content within it.
This psychological content might disturb
younger audience and is inappropriate for
                                                   This psychological
their viewing. content is inappropriate
Most thriller films are aimed at young adults and disturbing for
and teenagers due to the intensity and sense of younger viewers and
                                                   the elderly whereas
suspense featured. This would engage them younger adults would
more into the narrative and would want them enjoy this sense of the
to come back and watch another thriller film unknown therefore we
due the exhilarating feeling and the fear of the more engaged with the
unknown. film.
Also, people who catch a train frequently in their day to day life
may engage with our film as the setting of a train station is
featured heavily in our thriller opening. Therefore people may
find the ‘supernatural’ themes included it our film to be
unexpected and unfamiliar to them which may make them vary
on their next visit to the train station. This established setting
engages a wide range of audiences as people use trains to travel
to work, school as well as just general travel.

                                              Even through this shot from
our film you can see a wide
                                              range different people
                                              which could be our
                                              potential audience. These
                                              people are familiar with the
                                              location therefore this factor
                                              will entice them into our
                                              film and keep them
                                              engaged throughout.
The clothing and representation of the characters
appeals more to young adults and teenagers as they
are able to relate to the characters and their traits.
Due to the supernatural themes and fantasy within
the film younger adults may find the film more
appealing. However individuals younger than 15 may
not engage with the film as the identity of the
‘mystery girl’ is kept hidden therefore this mystery and
curiosity may not appeal to them. Whereas when you
are older you become more aware of things around
you therefore become more vary and curious
especially as the setting is a train station where
younger kids may not be familiar with whereas older
kids are therefore this film is relevant to them.
All the thriller films that I have researched
have been placed under the 15 and over
rating due to the psychological and horrific
content, Woman in Black being an
exception. However later on critics claimed
that the age rating for this film should have
also been a 15 rating due to the content of
the film where children are seen in it
looking distressed and being killed by this
supernatural ‘figure’ these children were
similar to the 12 age range therefore this
may have disturbed the younger viewers.
The thriller films researched that are
certified with a 15 rating are, The Pact,
Sinister, The Grudge, Paranormal Activity,
The Ring and Cabin in the Woods. Due to
the supernatural themes that are present in
these films which are similar to our film ‘The
Blind Premonitions’ I believe that they
would share the same target audience as
our film.
