attract/address your
audience?
Media Evaluation
What do you like about our film?
The voice over gave an interesting aspect to the theme of the film. When the
character sat down in the café, the continuity editing was very well done.
What could be improved?
Have the sequence of clips to be better organised to allow the audience to
follow the idea of the film rather than be confused and have to question every
clip individually.
Who do you think our film was aimed at?
Teenage audience, mainly males, ages 15-19
Would you watch the full film? Why?
No, because although it is good to raise questions at the start of the film, the
clips made no sense when put together and some weren’t necessary into the
making of the film.
What genre would you say our film is? Why?
Horror, because of the use of negative colours (photos in the title sequence),
the use of blood connoting horror and the voice over.

Do you think you have reached your
target audience?
Yes, multiple elements of our film are aimed specifically at
males aged 15-25 years old such as the jump scares, blood
and dialogue.
Overall what else has been successful in your
production according to audience feedback?
(technical/ organisational/ audience
Some of our audience feedback commented on how the
continuity was edited really well, especially when Nick went
to sit down in the café.
The voice over effect that was added was also said to be a
positive element of our film. It was said to have added a really
interesting aspect and confirmed the psychological horror
genre of our film.
What was less successful? (audience
feedback)
Our audience feedback stated that it was felt that the clips
were not very well organised and that it was very confusing
to watch.
The scene where Nick and Faye are walking down the street
was also said to be a less successful part of our film. Our
audience felt that because both characters were walking
down exactly the same street at exactly the same time that it
didn’t make much sense.
How could the work be improved?
We could improve the first 2 minutes of our film by making
the order of our clips more organised so it is easier to follow
the story and not make the audience question what is
happening because they are confused.
We could also re-film some of our scenes, for example when
Nick and Faye are walking down the street. We could film
Faye walking down a different part of the street as to not
cause any more confusion and make the story flow better.

Media Evaluation
What key decisions did you make about technology
during pre-production?
During pre-production we had to use
Blogger in order to keep a record of
all of our work. We uploaded each part of our
individual and group work from the pre-
Production, enabling us to be able to keep all of our
work together and makes it easy to find any information we may
need during production and post-production.
We also decided to use Google Questionnaires (Google Forms) in
order to create our questionnaire. This enabled us to have both an
online and in hand copy of the questionnaire,
Therefore making it more convenient to gather
the relevant information and feedback we
needed for deciding our target audience.
What key decisions did you make about
technology during production?
Another decision we made was to use a
Panasonic HD camcorder. Because we were
able to use this exact camcorder during our
preliminary exercise, we were able to use the
camcorder more efficiently, which therefore
made it easier to film the first 2 minutes of
our film.
What key decisions did you make about
technology during post-production?
We decided to use Final Cut Express to edit our film. This is
because we had experience with using it after editing our
preliminary task. This made editing our film a lot easier and
more effective as we grew more confident in using it. We used
it to cut, and add a variety of different colour effects in order
to give the ‘horror’ effect, these effects included using an eye
dropper tool and the chiaroscuro effect, by increasing the
contrast in order to create juxtaposition between the dark
backgrounds and the white of the actors face. We also used
some transitions, such as fade and cross dissolve, again to
create a psychological horror effect and illustrate a sense of
the unknown and disorientation. Uploading edited photos
from Photoshop onto Final Cut Express was another new
technique that we decided to use during post-production.
What were successful uses of new technology
in your production process?
We had a lot of success with using all of our
technologies. Being able to use Final Cut
Express to edit our film was useful as it was an
easy programmer to use as we used it to edit
our preliminary task, meaning we had prior
knowledge. Also the use blogger to keep a
record of all of our work meant we could keep
organized and easily accessible.

What genre would you say our film is? Why? Horror, because of the use of negative colours (photos in the title sequence), the use of blood connoting horror and the voice over. Audience Feedback
  • 3. Do you think you have reached your target audience? Yes, multiple elements of our film are aimed specifically at males aged 15-25 years old such as the jump scares, blood and dialogue.
  • 4. Overall what else has been successful in your production according to audience feedback? (technical/ organisational/ audience Some of our audience feedback commented on how the continuity was edited really well, especially when Nick went to sit down in the café. The voice over effect that was added was also said to be a positive element of our film. It was said to have added a really interesting aspect and confirmed the psychological horror genre of our film.
  • 5. What was less successful? (audience feedback) Our audience feedback stated that it was felt that the clips were not very well organised and that it was very confusing to watch. The scene where Nick and Faye are walking down the street was also said to be a less successful part of our film. Our audience felt that because both characters were walking down exactly the same street at exactly the same time that it didn’t make much sense.
  • 6. How could the work be improved? We could improve the first 2 minutes of our film by making the order of our clips more organised so it is easier to follow the story and not make the audience question what is happening because they are confused. We could also re-film some of our scenes, for example when Nick and Faye are walking down the street. We could film Faye walking down a different part of the street as to not cause any more confusion and make the story flow better.

  • 8. What key decisions did you make about technology during pre-production? During pre-production we had to use Blogger in order to keep a record of all of our work. We uploaded each part of our individual and group work from the pre- Production, enabling us to be able to keep all of our work together and makes it easy to find any information we may need during production and post-production. We also decided to use Google Questionnaires (Google Forms) in order to create our questionnaire. This enabled us to have both an online and in hand copy of the questionnaire, Therefore making it more convenient to gather the relevant information and feedback we needed for deciding our target audience.
  • 9. What key decisions did you make about technology during production? Another decision we made was to use a Panasonic HD camcorder. Because we were able to use this exact camcorder during our preliminary exercise, we were able to use the camcorder more efficiently, which therefore made it easier to film the first 2 minutes of our film.
  • 10. What key decisions did you make about technology during post-production? We decided to use Final Cut Express to edit our film. This is because we had experience with using it after editing our preliminary task. This made editing our film a lot easier and more effective as we grew more confident in using it. We used it to cut, and add a variety of different colour effects in order to give the ‘horror’ effect, these effects included using an eye dropper tool and the chiaroscuro effect, by increasing the contrast in order to create juxtaposition between the dark backgrounds and the white of the actors face. We also used some transitions, such as fade and cross dissolve, again to create a psychological horror effect and illustrate a sense of the unknown and disorientation. Uploading edited photos from Photoshop onto Final Cut Express was another new technique that we decided to use during post-production.
  • 11. What were successful uses of new technology in your production process? We had a lot of success with using all of our technologies. Being able to use Final Cut Express to edit our film was useful as it was an easy programmer to use as we used it to edit our preliminary task, meaning we had prior knowledge. Also the use blogger to keep a record of all of our work meant we could keep organized and easily accessible.
