3. For our preliminary task I believe that the cover is well suited to what
would be expected from a school magazine however it doesn’t necessarily
have the same polished finish compared to the final outcome of our music
magazine. For example, the masthead isn't very eye catching and putting
everything in the boxes and squares doesn’t give the magazine a good flow.
We also had quite a lot of blank white space along the bottom of the page
which is something we definitely rectified when creating our music
magazine cover as it gave our school magazine an empty look.
4. In comparison to our music magazine cover, it is clear that we have made a vast
improvement on our use of the different technologies. The editing, which was done
on Photoshop, was non-existent in our school magazine and it gives our music
magazine a way more professional and clean cut look for our magazine. For our
preliminary task we used pages which didn’t produce a very good look as we were
unexperienced.
The main image we used for the music magazine is much more engaging to our
specific audience as it is dark and stylish. The main image we chose also fits in with
the hip hop genre well as our model is styled to suit what members of the hip hop
genre would wear.
5. I also think that the music magazine is much better compared to our
preliminary task due to us using several different technologies and
developing skills as we were able to create a professional look whereas
before we lacked experience and were unable to do so.
6. On the left is our development of our double page
spread. The layout for the pages has remained
mostly the same but the image was changed as the
costume and background were the same as in our
front cover and contents page and we wanted a bit
more variety it also complies with the conventions.
The fonts were also experimented with but in the
end we decided on FuturaHeavy as it matched the
font on our front page and is also a good font as it is
youthful and current.
On our real version we have better edited pictures as
well which show how much we have progressed since
the preliminary task.
