1. How effective are the combination of your
main product and ancillary tasks?
2. The main purpose of my magazine advertisement and digipak is to advertise
the artist and their product – for example this could be a single or album release.
The good thing about a digipak and magazine advert is that they are normally
used to advertised a special addition – so this is automatically attractive to the
audience. The adverts and digipaks/CD’s are normally fitting to the genre
and artist – it may contain a logo or an iconic colour scheme. For example Lady
Gaga’s album ‘The Fame Monster’ shows her wearing the jewel covered glasses
and we now automatically associate this with her. Therefore I decided to use the
Marina and the Diamonds logo so my audience can identify the artist easily.
3. I had a very clear idea about the effect I
wanted to create in my main product, digipak
and magazine advert. I wanted my products to
present an opinion on Americanisation. After my
research into the original video I thought that the
message in the lyrics wasn't expressed very well
through the video, CD or other advertisements.
Therefore, I wanted to create something that
presented the message quite bluntly - even
thought the message isn't particularly positive.
One of the main themes I kept throughout each
aspect is the 'destroyed' look. I did this because I
thought if I create something that is imperfect, I
can use that as an interpretation of reality, then
clash it with the perceived perfection of my
talent.

7. I think the there are aspects of my main product and ancillary tasks that
definitely link together and I think it is easy to tell what the video the ancillary
tasks link to. I think I maybe could of have included some more things on my
advert and digipak to make it really obvious, however I think there is just enough.
There hasn’t been a situation where I have thought parts of my digipak and
advert don’t link to the video at all. I think that being conventional and making
my ancillary tasks similar to each other was a good way to link all the products
together - I think it is easily recognisable for the audience and makes it easier for
them to make their own interpretations with out making it too confusing.
