2. Comparison of initial plans and intentions
My initial plans and intentions were relatively similar in the sense of layout and they were
both related to motor vehicles. My intentions were to create a website which allowed
people to get to read more about motorbikes to gain a deeper understanding of what may
be a good bike for their first time.
Another intention of mine was to add a subscription via email box to the bottom of the
website, which would send people notifications of new changes to the website, weekly/
monthly newsletters and keep people up-to-date with the latest motorbikes and
accessories.
4. Discuss issues and problems faced
During the creation of my website I ran into a few issues. One of which was with layouts.
After I got everything in the layout that I had in my mind, I realised that it didn’t really work
and I didn’t like it. I then had to use up some valuable time to research different motorbike
websites for layout plans and different designs to help me get to the design I have at the
moment.
My next issue was making 4 pages on my website (being unorganised). I didn’t have any sort
of schedule or time sheet to aid me in getting everything done in an organised fashion.
Another problem I had was during the production of my front cover and double-page spread
was that I kept changing my mind with the layout and what I wrote on it.
5. Analysis effectiveness of final product
I think my final product is effective when attracting the
attention of my audience because it really stands out
amongst most magazines, which is a good way to
expand my company/magazine to get a larger audience.
The wide range of colour and the various items it has to
offer. The use of videos and multiple photos on my
website will make it more interactive which was
suggested in my audience research.
6. Discuss possible improvements
My front cover definitely needs improvements.
In my opinion this front cover is really boring
and quite plain. To change this, I could use a
couple of photos around the main image to
add more to the front of the magazine.
The list of “exclusives inside” could be placed in
a better location or even spread out to make it
look more realistic and fun.
7. Identify what you have learnt
I’ve learnt how to create a good magazine Front cover, and Double page spread.
But the most important thing for me was learning to build the website because it
was a completely new topic for me. The use of wix.com and Adobe InDesign was a
really cool concept for me and it showed me new techniques that I could use in
future projects such as how to properly create a double page spread for a
magazine and what components you need to create a proper website with
multiple pages (home, about, gallery and contact). I really enjoyed this project and
learning new things that will be useful for future rotations.
