1. Q2 – How effective is the
combination of your main
product and ancillary texts?
Raja Rouf
2. INTRO
My music video's purpose is to educate my target as much as
possible.
In order for my music video to reach the eyes of as many
people as possible I needed to market my: magazine advert;
Digi-Pak & Music Video as a package.
To market my package successfully I needed to make sure
that I applied the correct codes & conventions and also
used continuity in my ancillary texts and music video.
Doing this will increase audience recognition, however it
would be difficult to apply continuity in ALL ancillary texts
& music video.
3. MUSIC VIDEO
My music video differentiates itself from
other music videos because the main
objective is NOT just entertain, my
music video is to EDUCATE
individuals who aren't aware of the
terrible actions that are taking place in
the world.
4. MUSIC VIDEO
The lyrics in my music video focus on political.
underlying, horrific injustice that is happening inthis
day and age.
The song was created by a very close friend of mine,
he gave me permission to use his song to create my
music video.
When listening to the song and brainstorming I knew
exactly what approach I wanted to take.
5. MUSIC VIDEO
I wanted to make sure I question the
audience by directly addressing them. I
wanted to make sure the video was as
professional as possible because if it
looked amateurish it would decrease the
attractiveness of the video, I was aware
to avoid this I will need to heavily rely on
effects and adjust the video footage.
6. Digi Pak
My Digi-Pak had to
show a clear link
towards my music
video and my
Magazine advert.
Doing this will
increase brand
recognition.
7. Digi Pak I decided to use a shot
from the actual music
video (top right image),
this gives the audience a
small taste of what to
expect from the music
video, and if an invidual
has already watched the
video they will be able to
recognie where that
image is from.
8. Magazine Advert The magazine needed to
be energetic and bold. As
you can see the magazine
ad is very direct and thrown
into the audience’s face.
Doing this allows the
magazine advert to be BIG
and BOLD.
Also the magazine advert
should encourage the
audience to purchase the
single, this is done by
presenting them with
ratings from established
firms such as The
Guardian, RWD magazine.
9. Continuity
As I mentioned before, within my ancillary texts and my
music video I have implemented various elements in
order to create brand recognition. Doing this can reflect
on the success of my product. I must show the codes and
conventions which I discovered by conducting research:
• Brand Font
• Social Media
• Track Title
• Brand Logo
10. Continuity
Each of the of images on
the right have many
similarities, the ones i
purposely excecuted were
the direct questions and the
fonts used. I have used the
same font in the Magazine
Ad & Digi-Pak because that
then creates a brand, doing
this will then create brand
recognition.
More importantly each image has a
questioned with is aligned directly in the
middle. The questions are the same in
two texts but different in the music video.
Regardless of that the repititve
questioning will be recognised by the
audience and it will become in stilled into
their mind.
11. Continuity Other than the direct
address these to images
from my Digi-Pak and
Magazine advert have a
much more specific
similarity. The title of the
single has been put
across as if it has been
‘ripped’/’torn’ out of paper.
This has been purposely
done by myself because I
wanted to create a
realisitc, ‘gritty’ effect.
When creating my
magazine advert I was
fully aware that if I include
similarities it could benefit
the success of my
package.
