In what ways does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Artist
Portrayal
I portrayed the artists
song as being house
(genre).
Throughout both
products I used
pandas, this was
to promote the
artist by his name,
‘pandaman’. The
artist was
revealed at the
end of the video
to show who they
are.
I did not challenge
these
conventions.

Poster
conventions
I looked at existing
posters to find out
what a poster
would include this
was:
• Artists name
• Hit single
• Release date
• Sponsor (virgin
records)
• Quote from a
radio station
• Available on
iTunes logo
• Album name
• Picture of the
album
As my song is a
house track, the
poster portrays
this by the
bright colours
used. The panda
is included in
this once again
to promote the
artist by their
name.
I did not
challenge this.

Digipak
conventions
I looked at existing
products and found
that I needed to
include these:
• Artists name
• Album name
• Lyric book
• Barcode
• Available on
iTunes logo
• Track names
• Picture of the
artist
• ‘Includes music
video’
I used all the
conventions
that I thought
where relevant
to use for my
artist.
I did not include
an image of my
artist, this is
because my
artist wants to
advertise his
music rather
than himself.
However I
added a panda,
which is a
symbolic symbol
for him as his
name is
‘Pandaman’.

Genre
conventions -
digipak
By looking at existing
digipaks for house
tracks, I found out
that the majority of
them include bright
colours and they are
bold.
I did not develop
this.
I challenged this
by making my
digipak dark, the
majority of it is
black and white,
with a pop of
colour on the
flowers and the
artist name and
album name. I was
inspired by the
Chase and Status,
No More Idols
Album, which is
also a house artist.
I wanted to
promote my
artists music
rather than the
artist themselves.

Genre
conventions –
poster
By looking at
existing posters I
found out that they
are also normally
bright and bold for
house artists.
I developed this
by adding bright
backgrounds
and adding
different effects
over the top to
add a more
house feel. Once
again I added a
panda in this to
promote my
artist.
I did not
challenge this.
