Q7. Looking back at your preliminary
task, what do you think you have learnt
in the progression from it to the the full
product?
Ans. Now when I look at my preliminary
task, then my 2 minute video, I witness
a lot of differences each and every time.
My final task is much better than my
preliminary task (which is full of flaws
and shows how childishly things have
been handled). I shot my preliminary
task with a Sony camera, that did not
produce fine results even; the picture
quality is very low. Then, there are
some really stupid errors which I made
during the shooting and editing
processes.
Clear cut differences could be observed between my preliminary task and final product. The preliminary task’s title
are in white simple Arial font, however, the title for my final product is written in black Calibri text with prominent
outlines. Where, I used plain black background in the preliminary task, then, in the final task I have used the flare
effect, which took lot of time. Only this editing learning process required eight to ten classes, but at the end of the
day, after so many suggestions, rough cuts, some flop and some amazingly nice ideas, I successfully managed to
form my final product, which was a relief.
For example, if carefully observed, then it could be noticed that
one character opened the door, whereas, in the previous
scene, the door was not closed, therefore, continuity problem
is there. Moreover, there is too much sound distortion in my
preliminary task, which is really annoying, especially when one
is trying to listen the to the dialogues properly. Whereas, in my
final product I have not included any kind of dialogues; only
background non-digetic music is there, which was taken from
the internet, therefore, there are not any issues like sound
distortion, neither there are any kind of continuity problems,
however, the idea in the beginning could be a bit problematic.
Subtitle
However, in my final task, I have tried
my level best to overcome all these
mistakes. I am very much pleased by
the feel I wanted to create in my
video (which is an opening sequence),
that it is a sad love story, following all
the codes and convention of the
“romantic drama” genre. There are
many reasons behind the mistakes
which I made in the preliminary task;
the basic reason was I was making a
project for the very first time and
secondly, we were told that it
wouldn’t be marked on the basis of
technicalities. But in my final task I
knew that it will be analysed,
therefore, I put much more efforts in
it.
