In what dose your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? My media product is able to challenge forms and conventions of real media products in the way that it is able to create the same interest from its audience as a real media product. This is beneficial as this is what drives the music industry. Advertisement is a key factor in the music business as it plays a key role in the selling of the product. Personally I think that my promotional music video is able to challenge the music videos that are shown internationally as it meets all of the standard criteria of what is needed for promotion.
How effective is the combination of your main production and ancillary texts? Personally I think that the combination of my main product and ancillary texts is very strong. From my briefing, I knew exactly what I had to do. The support of my music video that I have documented in this blog gives a strong structure upon which my music video stands. This is due to the extensive research and preparation that I had done before shooting my video. By digging deep into the project, I have been able to produce a powerful and iconic music video that is able to challenge the mainstream promotional videos of the present day. Without the pre-production I would not have been able to produce what I think is a good music video. Which is why the combination of my ancillary texts and main production have proven to be very successful as I have been told from peers in thorough feedback.
What have you learned from your audience feedback? By uploading my music video to some websites such as Facebook and Youtube, I have been given feedback. This feedback had contained positive and negative comments and suggestions. Although there were some negative comments, this has only given me aims to produce better work in the future. But as for this music video, I was very please with the positive feedback and suggestions. The feedback has taught me about the viewers interests and how important they really are. If i were able to start again, I think I would show the song to a variety of different people and listen to their comments and thoughts about the song. Then whilst planning my video, I would take into consideration what the public views of the song were and what type of genre video they think would go well with the song.
How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? During the three stages (pre-production, production and post-production) of making my promotional music video, I used a vast amount of new technologies. These technologies span from the every day use of the internet for my research, to the in depth use of editing software such as Adobe After Effects. Pre-production seemed fairly straight forward as I soon grasped a strong idea of what was going to be in my music video. After much research on Youtube and watching the music channels on TV I was sure of what I was going to make. Production took a lot of effort and preparation to get the shots I needed. Thankfully I was able to do this without much hassle. Although using the camera took a while to grasp the full potential of what I was able to do with it. Even though I found this challenging, I still really enjoyed learning how to use a camera i had never used before. Post-production took a long time as there was a lot of editing that had to be done to make this music video work. Using Final Cut Pro was a very good experience and I am very pleased with how fast I picked up what I was doing. After getting started on editing I saw the true potential with what I could do with my music video. Overall I am very happy with how I was able to use the modern technologie that is used in the professional industry.
