The document describes various software and online tools used to create a music video project, including Nikon D5200 to shoot video and images, Photoshop CS5 to edit images, Final Cut Pro X to edit video, Google and Wikipedia for research, SlideShare to share presentations, YouTube to view examples and upload drafts, Blogger to host all work online linked to YouTube, and social media like Facebook and Twitter for feedback and promotion.
2. NIKON D5200
I used my camera to shoot the video footage for my music video and take all the
images for my ancillary texts. Thi9s helped me to use HD footage which aids
verisimilitude as genuine music videos and promotional features for bands would
have high quality images and HD video footage.
3. PHOTOSHOP CS5
I used Photoshop CS5 to edit the images used for my ancillary texts This helped me to
make them more dynamic. I put a white layer behind a lot of the images and
reduced the fill of the main image to 70% to give the images a 35mm effect as
most images for contemporary alternative rock bands use 35mm camera so this
helped me to follow codes and conventions of genre more closely.
4. FINAL CUT PRO X
I used Final Cut Pro X on the college Macs to edit my video footage to create my
music video. I used this software over iMovie because it is more professional
which enabled me to use a wider range of transitions and effects. I found the
software easy to use after a few hours of practice.
5. GOOGLE AND WIKIPEDIA
For my planning and research I used Google and Wikipedia to gather information
about alternative rock bands and conventions of genre.
6. SLIDE SHARE
I used SlideShare to put my PowerPoint documents online. This allowed me to make
presentations for my planning stages.
7. YOUTUBE
I used YouTube in my planning and research process to look for existing music videos.
I also used YouTube to upload my music video drafts and Evaluation question 2
as for that I gathered a few people from the media department and asked them
to watch and review my video and ancillary texts.
8. BLOGGER
I put all of my work onto Blogger, a blogging service Ran by Google. It helped me to
link my videos to YouTube because that is also ran by Google. I Found the blog
very easy to use as it had a very user friendly interface.
9. SOCIAL MEDIA
I put my products on Facebook and asked for feedback from my peers. This helped
with audience feedback as it allowed me to know how people who don’t study
media see my video. I made a twitter account for the artist that I used to allow
self promotion.
