The document describes the first stage of editing a video project which involved cutting footage into individual shots with correct timing, placing markers, and keeping the original clip handy for reference. Various shots were tested to find the best ones matching the audio. Color correcting was then done to recreate the dark blue tint of the original, including increasing blue mid-tones and highlights. Effects like fades were added and color correcting was copied to all shots to maintain consistency.

Editing Prelim
1. This was the first
stage of editing.
We took all of our
footage and cut
each shot to the
correct timing.
We used the
cutting tool to
trim the videos.
we also put in
some markers to
time the video
correctly. To help
us achieve the
same look as the
clip we were
recreating we
kept the clip on
hand so we could
constantly refer
to it.
2. We then began to
try out the
different shots to
see which ones
worked best, this
helped us to find
the best shots.
We worked on
the speed and
duration of the
clips so that the
visuals matched
the audio of the
clip (which we
choice to keep
from the
original).
3. Once we had
finished the
timing of the clip
we went into
colour correcting.
The original clip
has a dark cold
blue tint to it so
we wanted to see
if we could
recreate this…
4. We used the
‘Colour Balance’
effect to edit the
shots. To achieve
this blue tint we
upped the blue
mid-tones,
highlights etc. I
think this is very
effectively as it
creates a more
horror like
atmosphere. We
also added a fade
to black at the
end of the clip to
mimic the ending
of the original.
5. To insure all the
colour correcting
was the same we
copied and
pasted the effect.
Overall editing
went very well
and although we
differed out clip
from the original
we sill feel it is
just as effective.
