I used Photoshop to create my magazine cover, learning how to use tools to add the title, main image, cover lines, and banners. I then used Quark to construct my contents page, adding text, images, and dividers between sections. While unfamiliar with the programs, I was able to implement my planned designs and codes. With more practice in Photoshop and Quark, I could have achieved a higher professional standard by experimenting more with colors, fonts, and own props in images.

1. In what ways does your media productuse, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real
media products?
I feel that all the code and convetnions that i wanted to use were used on my final pieces. i think
that all the typical code and conetions of a cover page and contents page were shown on my final
pieces. i think that given more time and though and maybe hearing some more experienced peoples
cover pages and content spagesideasi could develop on my finished pieces more. i also think that by
reaserching more i could develop my final pieces jn that way also.
How did you use the new media technologies in order the construction of your media product?
To create my front cover of the magazine and contents page i used Photoshop and Quark. these are
programmes ihavent used before so wasnt familiar with them. we were taught the basics on how to
use them to create our front cover and contents in order to be able to get each code and convention
and aspect of our planning onto our actual magazine. firstlyi used photoshop to create my frount
cover of the magazine. i was shown how to use each tool to put on the title, main image, cover lines,
advertising banners aswell as other aspects. oncei had been able to carry out each conde and
convention of my magazine i ended up with my frount cover which is also on my blog.
i then used Quark to construct my contens page. i was also shown how to use this programme and
constricted the rough plan i had made onto the programme. after adding my text, images and
dividers to split my contents into 3 sections i then added background colour and different fonts and
sizes in order to complete my final contents page.
What are the strengths and weaknesses of both the product and your use of new media
technologies?
As iwasnt familiar with either programme photoshop and quark i think that in the end my finished
result ended up going quite well. asi got to grips with each of the prgrammesi was able to take the
ideas from my rough drawings and put them onto the programmes. i think that as i got used to using
the programme and uderstanding what to do i was able to get on with what i was dxoing and use the
tools to my advantage to make my page look more profeshional. i also think that my end result was
a sucess as i had used all the code and covetnionsi had though of and my finished piece was very
similar to my plan. i think that if i had more knowledge and practice with photoshop and quarki
would have been able to finish my final cover page and contents page to a higher standard. i think
that useing a different colour on my contents background and maybe a different font would have
made my contents page look more profeshional. i also think tahtmaybe using models and my own
props and locations would also have been able to make my finished pieces look more profeshional
as i could have planned exactly what i what i wanted using abit more imagination.
