Through creating a music magazine, the author learned to use Photoshop, Pages, and Fireworks. Photoshop allowed for experimenting with different ideas and editing images, though it was initially challenging to learn. Pages made creating pages and spreads easier than Photoshop due to its simplicity. However, Pages could only be used on Mac and not at home. Previous experience with Fireworks helped in learning Photoshop as both allow image editing and construction.
