The student learned many new photography, design, and publishing skills to create a magazine cover and contents page for an AS level project. They learned to use a digital camera, transfer photos to a computer, and manipulate images using Photoshop by placing photos, enhancing colors, inserting shapes and text, and using layers. The student also discovered websites like Dafont for fonts, Prezzie for multimedia presentations, Blogger for blogging, Scribd for uploading documents, and SlideShare for PowerPoint presentations. These skills and technologies enabled the professional design and online sharing of the magazine project.

2. At AS level, I obtained many new skills in order to help produce my final magazine cover and contents page. Firstly, I learne d
many new skills using a still digital camera. I used it to take images which I would then manipulate and change via Photoshop so
that they could be included in my front cover. Learned how to take different shots of people and locations such as close up,
medium close up, long shot or panorama as it would show the variety of skills I have using a camera. In addition to this, I had
to learn how to transfer the images from the camera to a computer using USB ports, and then save them to the computer so I
could find them for later use. Once I transferred the images and saved them onto the computer, I then used Adobe Photoshop
to help make my magazine. I learned many skills including; placing images, enhancing the colour or saturation, inserting text
(from dafont.com), cropping images using different tools (such as the ‘magic’ tool or the ‘lasso’ tool) , inserting shapes and
discovering how layers work. As well as learning these skills on Photoshop, I also discovered a website called dafont.com. This
website enabled me to find different text styles and fonts which I could use for my product. By using the skills I learned in
Photoshop, I was able to copy the text, paste it into Photoshop, change its colour and crop out the background so that it looked
professional and follows the conventions of a magazine. On top of this, I learned how to use a website called prezzie. This
enables you to create an exciting, fun presentation where you can insert text, images, videos and music. Although I have not
used it to present my work, it is a technology that I have learned about through out my time making my magazine. Another
technology that I have learned about is blogger.com. This has made it easy for me to upload my work into separate blogs and
helped me to organise my work. In addition to this, I learned how to use scribd.com. This was very useful as it allowed me to
easily upload word documents using html to my blog. Lastly, the final technology I have learned about is slideshare.com. This
enabled my to upload PowerPoint presentations to my blog.
