The student created a magazine using codes and conventions from real magazines, such as including a masthead, date and issue information, columns, subtitles, and a drop cap on a double page spread. However, the student also challenged some conventions by using a main image that was neither a medium close up nor direct address. The student developed a skyline on the front cover to inform readers of the magazine's contents and used the title on the double page spread to grab attention. The student learned about various technologies used in the process of constructing the magazine, including QuarkXPress, Photoshop, blogging platforms, and digital SLR cameras. The student gained experience using these technologies and feels comfortable with the basics of layout
