The student evaluated their preliminary task of making a college magazine. They learned about conducting research and conventions through creating a questionnaire for their target audience. The questionnaire provided opinions on price and magazine name. Research also taught the student magazine content page and cover conventions. Creating the magazine taught the student InDesign skills. For future improvements, the student would make cover text bigger and clearer and simplify the contents page color scheme.

1. Evaluation
I think my preliminary task went well as it taught me skills to make a
magazine, knowledge of how to carry out research and conventions
of a magazine through a variety of ways. From my research I learned
the importance of making a magazine that meets the needs of your
target audience, I made a questionnaire that had ten questions all
based around what a person who goes to college would want from a
college magazine.From the questionnaire I made it allowed me to get
my target audience’s opinions on things such as price of a magazine
and the name of my magazine. In my research I also learned the
conventions of two typical college magazine contents page and front
covers by doing this I took some ideas for my own front cover and
contents page to make it look like a genuine college magazine. The
preliminary task taught me the skills to use InDesign which allowed
me to make a genuine college magazine. If I were to make my college
magazine front cover again I would remove some of the cover lines
and make the remaining ones bigger so they are clearer, I would also
think about using a clearer texts with no outlines as that made it a bit
difficult to read. On my contents page I would probably make it a bit
simpler and maybe change the colour scheme as I didn’t completely
like the bright blue colour scheme.
