2. How does your magazine represent particular
social groups?
I tired to represent the average teenager in my magazine. I don’t think my magazine represents a general group
of people, just the average person who will go to college on a daily basis. I didn't want my model to be wearing
anything fancy just normal cloths, as the average teenager who will come in college will just be wearing normal
cloths.
My target audience is going to be about 16 – 18 years old I was going to use a model who was the same age. I
found this information out from my questionnaire analysis. My magazine is going to be an Indi/Alterative rock
magazine which mainly have a male following I was going to use a male model to be on my front cover.
I also tried to add headline and subtitles which would attract someone who was at college. My headlines are
typed to try and grab the attention of the reader. I have used headlines which I think college students would be
interested in. I used headlines which included recent popular bands like the Arctic Monkeys and Imagine
dragons as I think that is what interests teenagers.
I tried to keep the colours simple and not over complicate my front cover with too many colours.
3. How did you attract/address your audience?
I tried to attract my audience to my magazine in a number of different ways. The first way being was the use of
my main picture on the front cover. I made sure that my model was looking directly at the camera, which I feel
can be more inviting for a potential buyer to pick up and read. Since my target audience is 16 – 18 year olds I
felt it would be more appropriate to use a model who was within the same age bracket as my target audience.
I include a puff or a buzz on the front of my magazine as another way to grab the readers attention and
hopefully persuade the reader to purchase the magazine.
4. What aspects of your work are you pleased
with and why?
I really liked my front cover, as I felt I portrayed it in a nice professional looking manner. I didn’t want to over do
the front cover and add to many colours or titles to it which I am glad I did not do. Overall I am pleased with
my front cover and happy with how it turned out. My front cover had most of the features which I wanted to
include.
I am pleased with the picture I took as I wanted a picture were my model was looking directly at the camera
which is more appeling for potential magazine buyers. When a model Is looking directly at the camera it can be
more inviting for people to pick the magazine and have a read.
5. What aspects of your work could be improved
on and why
I feel I could of added a more to my front page. Although I tried to keep my front cover as simplistic as possible
to avoid any confusion for a reader I would of added a tagline to my front cover. I think this would make my
front cover more memorable and more appealing for someone to read it.
Other improvements I would make would have been added to my contents page. I could of added more detail
to my contents age and maybe a bit more information. For my last improvements which I wish I made would be
a link to the magazines twitter of Facebook page. This more make more interaction for the reader and would
hopefully improve the following of the magazine and gain some more followers of the magazine.
