Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. How research into television drama helped me My research enabled me to look at a number of specific articles within magazines such as the ‘Radio Times’, ‘TV Times’ and ‘Monday Choice’. The editors of these magazines aim to appeal to different target markets, and do so by using different techniques, for example, the ‘TV Times’ magazine consists of more images rather than the ‘Monday Choice’ which is more text-heavy. This research was helpful as I reflected on the information that I found. I did this by creating a good balance of both text and images in my magazine article. In my opinion this should appeal to the younger target audience as images would attract their attention more so than text. On the TV times magazine the structure of the text was set out as an interview. They show the questions in red and the answers in black so it was clear to the readers. I used this feature help me plan my listing by clearly separating the questions and their answers by bolding it’s text. Making it easier to read will encourage viewers to read the whole article and also absorb what is being said within the text.
3. How research into audience helped me The research into the audience helped me because it gave me a clear view of whether I was on the right track. It also gave me an understanding of whether or not they understand the meaning and representation of the drama. I was able to respond and work constructively with the negative feedback given. For example, one of the responses given to me was that the storyline wasn’t clear enough and that more detail would be needed. It was also suggested that my text had to be more ‘straight-to-the-point’. Another factor I had to resolve was that my storyline included only males. Therefore, I included female characters which broadened out the potential to include a bigger range of storylines as well as appealing to the female audience more.
4. Who my audience is and how they will respond? My drama is aimed at teenagers – British Asian youth and others alike. They will be able to relate to what is happening as many may have shared similar experiences, for example; there is a scene in which ‘Waj’ has a big house party and it will raise the themes and issues associated with rowdy out of control teen parties. I think the audience will respond well to the text because the name of the show “Yardies” is a common slang phrase amongst youth and also fits into a stereotype of British Asian males in particular
5. Technology used to the best effect I used different types of technology such as my mobile phone to take pictures of my characters and then transferred them onto ‘Adobe Photoshop’. I used this software to erase unwanted backgrounds by using the magic wand tool. This was a useful feature because I was then able to manipulate these characters to meet a certain look and put them into a more suitable background which will relate to the drama more. Also ‘Adobe Photoshop’ let me organise my layers so I know what images are showing and which ones are in the background or at the front of a character, which helped organise what I was doing and increase the efficiency of my work. Also my mobile phone took images but when I transferred them onto Adobe Photoshop the images was too large and Adobe let me shrink these images to the right scale.
6. Promoting my production I promoted my magazine in different ways for example the article which I created used a house style and a green colour scheme which ran throughout the production. This catches the readers attention especially teenagers because it is a bright colour and not dull therefore promoting my product. Also the character layout and their appearance is edited to appeal to a younger audience for example Waj is wearing a baggy hoody which is a common type of clothing for young teens. This will help them to relate to the story but it will also instantly give a sense about what my series is about. This is very important as first impressions are key in keeping members of my target audience engaged and as such again promoting my product.I also included a web address so the audience can find out more information about the drama.
