The media product represents the 1960s rock and roll social group. The model on the cover is dressed in a simple 1960s dress with retro green headphones and exaggerated 60s makeup. Research was done on 1960s fashion and famous models of the era to accurately portray the look. The layout is based on Rolling Stone magazine and one photo is in black and white to seem more vintage. While the color scheme is unique, the contents feature bands from the 1960s. The front cover model is meant to attract both teenage fans of the genre and older readers who listened to the bands in the 1960s.

2. Costume and makeup
My music magazine represents 1960's
rock and roll, and this is represented in
the costume that my model is wearing.
She is wearing a simple 1960's straight
dress, with retro style green
headphones, and her 60's style
makeup is exaggerated. I researched
into the fashion to get my costume
correct, and I am pleased with how the
model represents a particular social
group. I also researched into different
models that were famous in the 60's,
and from doing this I found out that in
a lot of their photographs they had a
blank expression, and were looking
straight forward. I therefore used this
in my magazine to increase the 1960's
look.
3. inspiration Apart from Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton, I was
inspired by the singer Janis Joplin. These two
images show the similarities between the two
artists. They are both smiling, both have
accessories, and could represent a ‘hippie’ look.
4. Layout
The layout also represents the rock and roll social group, because
the front cover is based of the Rolling Stone magazine.
5. Colour scheme
The colour scheme that I have used goes against the
commonly used red white and black colour scheme that
is associated with rock and roll. Therefore my colour
scheme does not reflect the rock and roll social group,
but it is unique and would stand out.
The fact that one of the photographs has been edited
black and white make the image look more old
fashioned, and therefore represent the old fashioned
music that is featured in the magazine. At first I planned
to have all of the images black and white, but later
decided to have most of them in colour, to show the
modern side of the magazine as well as the old. The
black and white photo could also reflect an artistic
social group.
6. artists profile
This is my artist profile that I wrote before making the final magazine
'This is Aretha, and she is going to be on the front cover of my magazine. Aretha is 21, and is a singer / model.
Her style is similar to the artists in the 1960's, and therefore I believe she will be perfect to have on my front
cover.
I have chosen to use a girl this age on the cover, to hopefully attract more teenage readers who are interested in
my magazines style of music, as well as the older generation who would have listened to the bands featured
when they were teenagers in the 1960's. This will hopefully widen the audience.
I have decided that I am going to use black eyeliner to create 60's style eye make up, and have her wearing a
Mary Quant style dress. I will add 60's style jewellery, which will include a headband placed over the top of her
hair, going across her forehead, and circle shaped earrings. I have taken inspiration for this from Jean Shrimpton,
and Twiggy, who are two of the most iconic models in the 1960s.'
7. Contents and Double page spread
My contents page reflects the rock and roll social group because of the bands
featured. However, the layout is quite neat with parallel lines . This goes against the
social group as rock and roll could be described as being fun and messy.
My double page spread is mainly aimed at a younger audience, because the artist
‘Aretha’ is a young, up and coming artist. However older readers could still be
interested in it. I was inspired to have my artist lying on the floor upside down from
this image from my animoto that I made earlier on in my blog. And this image
represents rock and roll.
