The student created a magazine spread about a fictional female DJ named Sophie Wood. The spread uses a conventional magazine layout with a large background photo, tidy columns, and unique artist photos that do not feature obvious musical instruments. The magazine aims to represent youths, women, and culture. It has a fashion-oriented style that may inspire the audience and attract more women readers. Through this project, the student learned more about the music industry, magazine genres, and how to make a magazine look more professional.

2. My magazine is conventional as it uses a very familiar layout
and theme to many existing magazines. My two-page spread
is structured like a typical article in a music magazine, with the
large photo in the background, tidy columns that make my
article easy to read. The pictures I used are unique to
everyone else's as they used obvious props such as guitars or
musical instruments but as I studied further into magazines I
found that this is rarely shown often on a celeb photo shoot,
so I followed that outlook and I am happy with the results.

3. Some groups that I think are represented through my
magazine are:
Youths, women and culture.
The artist that I created ‘Sophie Wood’ will definitely be more
likely to attract women, but I’d like to think she could attract
both genders as she’s a female DJ and there isn’t many of
them around therefore I would she’d attract attention from
many people, that was my aim.
The magazine looks very fashion orientated which is
something else that women would be attracted to, my
photo’s are very unique and in trend, therefore it may give off
a ‘I’d like to look like that’ vibe which would be useful as this
means my audience are being inspired by not only music but
the style that comes with it

4. I think IPC media would best represent my
magazine as It’s the holder of NME which I
relate my magazine to the most due a wide
variety of music
Alternatively it could be distributed virally, as
the main audience is young people and the
favoured way is to read online

5. The audience I would be aiming for would mainly be
youths as the magazine does contain modern and
new idea. The article and picture in my magazine
wouldn't be of interest to young children or elderly
people. The article I made is about a DJ so I highly
doubt this would catch a rock fans attention but my
front cover does offer a wide range of music, so it’s
not limited at all.

6. The audience would firstly be
attracted to the title which is
also a sound “BOOM” it
jumps out at you instantly with
a bright red colour. Then your
eyes are drawn to the image
of the Artist, with her name as
a sub heading, her eyes clash
with the red colours of the text
which makes it that much
more obscure and interesting.
Also a small selection of other
bands stated telling you to
turn to the contents page to
see more bands, this is
almost dragging the reader
inside of the magazine. The
footer is making sure all
audience are thought of ‘all
your favourite music in one
magazine!’ this may attract
people who wouldn’t of
bought it on first glance of the
cover.

7. Quite experienced in
Photoshop, so I was able
to use my knowledge to
make my magazine
different to everyone
else's, I found it easy and
fun to create it.
I even created my own
logo for my contents
page title.
Although, I have never used slide share or BlogSpot
before, I found them interesting and think it’s a
perfect example of how technology is taking over.
Which kind of fits in with the theme of my magazine.

8. During this project I learned more about the
music industry and the media. I was able to
research many existing magazines and learn
more about each one. I can now distinguish
between the different genres with a lot more
ease, and associate certain bands and names
with each one. I have learned how to make a
magazine look more professional. I also think
my photography skills have widened, which is
good as I’m very interested in photography and
had to look at it from a different point of view
which made me understand how to make a
picture more aesthetically pleasing.
