This document describes the development of standardized survey tools for evaluating the impact of programs that support orphans and vulnerable children (OVC). It involved developing a consensus on core impact indicators and questionnaires to measure child and caregiver well-being. The tools were piloted in multiple countries. They are intended to enable comparative assessments across interventions and inform program planning by providing actionable data on outcomes related to education, health, economic status and other domains. The document provides guidance on when and how the tools should be used for different evaluation purposes, such as measuring program impact over time or assessing needs at a population level.

This review examines the impact of breastfeeding support interventions on breastfeeding duration and exclusivity in healthy breastfeeding mothers with healthy term babies, compared to usual care. One-hundred trials with over 83,246 mother-infant pairs were included in this review. Seventy-three of the one-hundred trials were involved in the data analyses. Findings suggest that breastfeeding support interventions reduce cessation of ‘any breastfeeding’ before 4 to 6 weeks and 6 months, and cessation of ‘exclusive breastfeeding’ at 4 to 6 weeks and at 6 months. This review examines the effectiveness of MI interventions for preventing alcohol misuse and alcohol-related problems in young adults. Eighty-four trials with 22,872 participants were included in this review. Findings suggest that MI interventions only slightly reduce quantity of alcohol consumed, frequency of alcohol consumption, and peak blood alcohol concentration, and only marginally reduce alcohol problems in young adults aged up to 25 years, compared to no intervention/placebo/treatment as usual. This webinar provided an overview of the effectiveness of MI interventions in preventing alcohol misuse and alcohol-related problems in young adults.

Traditionally, real-world and late phase studies require sites to enroll, engage and retain patients and collect and record patient reported outcomes (PRO), which can be burdensome to both sites and patients. Overtime, sites and patients may lose motivation to participate, contributing to high patient dropout rates, increased study costs and site dissatisfaction. This session will focus on innovative approaches for effectively engaging and retaining patients in long-term studies, such as: identifying design and operational considerations with conducting long-term observational research, understanding site and patient retention challenges, and examining engagement strategies and opportunities for improving retention and compliance.

Changing diet and physical activity behaviour is one of the cornerstones of type 2 diabetes treatment, but changing behaviour is challenging. The objective of this study was to identify behaviour change techniques (BCTs) and intervention features of dietary and physical activity interventions for patients with type 2 diabetes that are associated with changes in HbA1c. Thirteen RCTs were identified. Diet and physical activity interventions achieved clinically significant reductions in HbA1c at three and six months, but not at 12 and 24 months. Specific BCTs and intervention features identified may inform more effective structured lifestyle intervention treatment strategies for type 2 diabetes.

Menu labelling is a tool to inform consumers of energy content of meals in the eating-out environment and help consumers make informed decisions. This review examines the effectiveness of menu labelling to reduce energy consumption. Fifteen studies, including 17, 859 participants are included in this review. Evidence suggests that menu labelling reduces overall energy consumed and ordered in the eating-out environment. This review examines the effectiveness of menu labelling to reduce energy consumption. Fifteen studies, including 17, 859 participants are included in this review. Introduction
Strategic IT Planning is required to ensure your resources and assets continue providing the results and the support your organization needs.
What is a Strategic Plan?
It is a roadmap to achieving a goal. It may cover your entire department or responsibility or it may focus on a specific issue or element of your role. It can be long and involved or a simply one-page document that provides guidance and steps you need to implement to achieve a goal.
Making it Happen
There are a few things that are important to your success. While it may seem that developing the Strategic Plan is the hardest part, most plans fail because of the implementation. The key is to keep it small and be successful, then build on that success for the next initiative. Don’t bite off too much or try to be too ambitious.
• Take your time and keep it manageable
• Link your plan to your company’s strategy
• Justify your initiative and get buy-in and support
• Don’t re-invent, rebuild
• Go slow, manage change
• Set aside time from your operational responsibilities to make it happen
Without a Strategic Plan, you and your team won’t be effective and you won’t be able to get results, get attention and get ahead.

Most Strategic Plans never get written or they fail because they are too involved and complex. Keep them simple and use these three basic steps as your core approach. Ask yourself these questions:

3. How can you make those things happen?
By following the 3 steps above and writing them down, you will have the outline of your Strategic IT Plan. Then, you establish the tactical things that will help you implement your plan.

Once you have established your strategic plan using the 3-step process, you need to develop your implementation plan. This includes getting approval and resources as well as the steps you need to take to achieve your strategic objective.

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.

Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).

Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), or beverage alcohol, is a two-carbon alcohol
that is rapidly distributed in the body and brain. Ethanol alters many
neurochemical systems and has rewarding and addictive properties. It
is the oldest recreational drug and likely contributes to more morbidity,
mortality, and public health costs than all illicit drugs combined. The
5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-5) integrates alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence into a single
disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD), with mild, moderate,
and severe subclassifications (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum
from mild to severe. A diagnosis of AUD requires that at least two of
the 11 DSM-5 behaviors be present within a 12-month period (mild
AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).
The four main behavioral effects of AUD are impaired control over
drinking, negative social consequences, risky use, and altered physiological
effects (tolerance, withdrawal). This chapter presents an overview
of the prevalence and harmful consequences of AUD in the U.S.,
the systemic nature of the disease, neurocircuitry and stages of AUD,
comorbidities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, genetic risk factors, and
pharmacotherapies for AUD.

Tools are useful if your question is:
1.Is my program having, or did my program have an impact on the
children and households it reached?
2.What are the characteristics of children and their caregivers in
my country, state/province or district/area, in terms of education,
health, protection, and psychosocial support?
3.Where do the children most in need of program support live?
4.Approximately how many children need services or support?
5.What are the needs of my program’s registered beneficiaries, in
terms of education, health, protection, and psychosocial support?
21. These are not the right tools for you if…
You want to know:
Which children in selected communities to target
How a particular child/household is faring
Which households, children or caregivers are worst off
What services to provide or refer for a particular child /
household
The number of children/households that are receiving
program support, and the types of support received
Whether staff are carrying out their responsibilities
Whether interventions are being implemented as planned
22. And, why a special OVC survey?
DHS and MICS take a general population sample
difficult to discern the program’s contribution
DHS and MICS include some, but not all of the OVC
core indicators
23. Using the Data
Representative sample of program beneficiaries
Data collected at one point in time
Data collected at two points in time
Representative sample of the general population
24. Beneficiary sample: 1 point in time
Often called: Baseline, Midline or Endline
If baseline or midline: Use data for program
planning or design, or mid-course corrections
Example: high food insecurity found at baseline
Result: Change in workplan, PMP agreed between
partner and USG, emphasizing food security
If endline: Use data to inform follow-on activities
25. Beneficiary sample: 2 (or more)
points in time
Commonly referred to as an “evaluation”
Baseline data should be used immediately
Evaluation results inform future programming, policy
But, change in wellbeing from time 1 to time 2, does
not mean program is 100% responsible
Much stronger result if:
Comparison group is added (counterfactual)
Panel study / cohort
26. General population sample
Commonly called a Situation Analysis
Use data for needs-based resource allocation at
national or sub-national level (not individual or
community level)
Example:

27. Triangulate
Analyze data alongside DHS and MICS data
Check for differences and similarities
Determine whether differences or similarities
make sense, or point to a data quality issue
