What have you learnt about technologies
from the process of constructing this
product?
Programs and Software
For this evaluation, I had to present my magazine and answers to the questions
using different types of media to show originality and creativity. In doing so, I
had to find suitable programs and software to do this. I used the following:
• Prezi – an online presentation software
• Powerpoint – a presentation software powered by Microsoft
• Slideshare – A site where Powerpoints are uploaded to and embeded onto
blogs and sites
• Mixbook – An editing site where you can make your own online book of
content
Camera, location and lighting
• For my photo shoot I used my own camera which was on my iphone
5s as this has high quality and I am familiar with the device. I used
a plain white backdrop to make the images look as professional as
possible and also to make the focus on the model.
• I used natural lighting to give a natural effect as it was a bright day
when I did the shoot and the lighting was bright. Lighting was very
imporant as I wanted the images to look as natural and laid back as
possible but also professional and crisp. I did this so that the model
was the focus of the image. I chose to do the shoot in the moring so
that the natural light was bright and would shine through the
windows of the room I was shooting in. I also slightly edited the
background on Photoshop to make it even brighter.
Adobe Photoshop
I have used Adobe Photoshop previously as I did GCSE photograohy and so I was
fairly famialr with the software. I chose to use Phtotoshop instead of InDesign
which I did last time because I know the Photshop software better and therefore
can use it to the best of my ability to create the most professional look for my
magazine. It took a few days to get used to the software again as I played around
with the tools, I also looked at tutorials on Youtube so that I could use new tools
that I hadn’t used before. Once I became used to the software and its tools, it was
fairly simple to use and allowed me to create detail and precision so that my
magazine looked professional.
• The text tool – I used this lots to type the sell lines and article titles, with this
tool I was able to change the size of the font, the style and boldness
• The resize tool – I needed to use this as some of the images I used were to big
to fit onto the canvas size of the magazine so this allowed me to resize them to
the right size without becoming pixelated
• The shape tool – This tool was important in adding dimension and shape to
my front cover so that it looked eye-catching and diverse
