Crafting an essay on the topic of "European Union Essay Topics" can be a challenging endeavor,
given the vast and intricate nature of the subject matter. The European Union encompasses a
wide range of political, economic, historical, and social aspects, making it a multifaceted topic
that demands thorough research and a nuanced understanding.
Firstly, delving into the historical background of the European Union requires meticulous
examination of key events, treaties, and milestones that have shaped its formation and evolution.
This may involve exploring the aftermath of World War II, the establishment of the European
Coal and Steel Community, and subsequent treaties such as the Treaty of Rome and the
Maastricht Treaty.
Additionally, analyzing the economic dimensions of the European Union involves grappling with
complex economic policies, the functioning of the Eurozone, and the challenges posed by
economic disparities among member states. Understanding the political dynamics within the EU
institutions, such as the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the Council of the
European Union, adds another layer of complexity.
Furthermore, addressing contemporary issues and challenges faced by the European Union, such
as Brexit, migration, and the rise of Euroscepticism, demands up-to-date information and a
critical perspective. It's crucial to integrate various viewpoints and scholarly opinions to present a
well-rounded argument.
The task is also compounded by the need to maintain coherence and clarity throughout the essay.
Balancing the historical context, economic intricacies, political dynamics, and current challenges
requires effective organization and a clear articulation of ideas.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "European Union Essay Topics" demands not only a
comprehensive understanding of the subject but also the ability to synthesize information from
diverse sources and present a cohesive and insightful analysis. It is a task that requires time,

Verbal
Face to face verbal communication is the best way to communicate. There is less
chance for misunderstanding and it allows for verbal and nonverbal messages.
However with the restrictions of time and budgets in business it is not always
possible to meet in person. Telephone conversations are also useful ways to
communicate but it is important always to use a combination of methods. For

A lot of interactive multimedia content is now delivered through the Internet. For
example Subway can use a PowerPoint presentation about their good quality ready
made food and send it to subscribed customers on email which will update their
knowledge about Subway new products and add to that guide them with the right
food if the customer has allergies etc. This can be an external source because other
business can use Subway information about their products and improve on it which
could make Subway lose its customers because of their rival organisations excellent
market research. An advantage on web based is that it helps the business to store
information on their website. Customers get to know more about the business when
they visit a business website. Web based information shows them the price of an
item online and where to search for items, however frequent system breakdown can
be a disadvantage to web based information because when it happens, customers or
the business cannot access their website which can lead to decrease in sales.
Purposes of information
Reliable and valid information is essential to all businesses and organisations
because they do not know where they are going and if they get to where they want
to be it is more by luck than by good planning. Organisations use information for a
variety of purposes and these are as

Kanye West Fans s Influence On The Artist
Kanye West fans do not have a definitive name, or way of defining themselves.
There is no form for the group for some reason. However, they are still able to
celebrate their icon and promote their icon in a positive way amid negative press he
is prone to receiving. Although they aren t well formed, Kanye s fans still have a
great impact on the artist s social proof with them being the first to respond to
anything Kanye related, the first to archive anything Kanye related, the main source
of buzz surrounding Kanye willing to congregate in one place for something he s
spearheaded, and the ones who further his brand outside of his own artistic endeavors.
Like any other fan group, there s always a main hub where a majority of fans of an
artist can congregate and worship their chosen artist. Kanye s fan are no different.
With Kanye fans, Kanyetothe has become the unofficial home for Kanye Westfans to
discuss and share anything Kanye related. In the forum is a dedicated section for
Kanye and his label GOOD Music. With this section, anything Kanye related news,
content, or theories, are posted in this section before any media platform has the
opportunity to share such content. KTT (shortened for KanyeToThe) is literally
seconds fast to repost Kanye s tweets, usually within the 10 second window after
Kanye posts a tweet. It may sound unrealistic, but this shows the level of dedication
his fans have towards his media presence, making sure they are the first to respond

Kennedy In Texas
The last stop for Kennedy in Texas, and for his whole life, was Dallas. Dallas
seemed to be the most aggressive out of any other region in the state towards the
president and his administration. When arriving in the city that Kennedy thought of
most importantly on November 22, he and his wife got into a limousine that banded
together with two cars containing police and the Secret Service. Driving towards
the Trade Mart, the people of Dallas seemed more friendly towards Kennedy than
expected with positive signs being held up in the air and cheering of the crowds.
After about half an hour into the car ride one of the most shocking moments in
American history occurred when a fire of a gun was heard three times by the people
near the limousine that contained the president. Kennedy was shot with his cranium
seriously damaged by the impact (Parmet, pg. 345 346).... Show more content on

radioed in to head to the hospital, the motorcade had been clocked in at speeds
averaging 70 80 miles per hour making it to the hospital in only five minutes. Rooms
were already made for the arrival of Kennedy who was in critical condition. After

Rhetorical Devices In The Birth Of His Son
For most parents, the arrival of a newborn brings many emotions ranging from joy
to anxiety. Dombey, a father, takes delight in the presence of his newborn baby. He
imagines all the great things his son will do, and he excitingly names his son Paul,
while Mrs. Dombey recovers from the delivery of the baby boy. Initially, the
passage gives off the impression as an innocent story of a father, joyful of his son s
arrival to the world. However, as the short passage progresses, the father expresses the
real reasons for his happiness through his overly ambitious and egotistical attitude
towards the infant. In the short passage, the author uses various rhetorical devices to
express his scorn for Dombey s arrogance and pity for Mrs. Dombey and the newborn
baby.
The author uses metaphor, allusion, and sarcastic diction to emphasize that the birth
of Paul ignites Dombey s egotistical aspirations. Even though the son causes
happiness within Dombey, they are for selfish reasons. At the beginning of the
passage, the narrator utilizes a metaphor in which Dombey compares his son to a
muffin, preparing the child by patiently waiting to toast him brown while he was
very new. The author suggests that Dombey wrongly objectifies his son. By doing
so, Dombey regards his son merely as an accessory, wanting to use him as a vessel
for his own happiness, disregarding the emotions and the future of his child. The
father has the child s life planned out; he just has to train his son and raise him
Hindu Muslim Violence And India
Civil violence, often representing ethnic, religious or racial conflict has been rising
through the past half century (Gleditsch et al. 2002), but we still have only a
limited understanding of its causes. While there is considerable evidence that the
outbreak of civil conflict results from poverty (e.g. Miguel et al. 2004; Bohlken and
Sergenti 2010; Do and Iyer, 2010), the evidence on other potential causes including
the importance of social divisions and political grievances is more controversial
(Blattman and Miguel, 2010: p.45). This paper examines Hindu Muslim violence in
India. Muslims constitute India s largest religious minority, and the observed patterns
of Hindu Muslim violence suggest that Muslims are more likely to have been the
victims of such violence (Mitra and Ray, 2010). Since Muslims are also under
represented in elected office (constituting only 5% of members in the national
legislaturein 2009, down from nearly 9% in 1980), we investigate whether increasing
Muslim political representation lowers the incidence of religious conflict. We put
together unique data on both the religious identity of politicians and religious conflict
for the period 1960 2007, merged at the state and the district level. We account for the
potential endogeneity of Muslim representation by instrumenting the share of Muslim
legislators with the share of Muslim legislators who win in close elections against
Hindus (a strategy similar to that implemented by Lee, 2001 and Clots Figuer

The Impact Of The GAA On The Easter Rising
On the 1st of November 1884, a small group of nationalist men which included
Michael Cusack, Maurice Davin and John Wyse Power, amongst others met at Hayes
Hotel in Thurles, County Tipperary. At that short meeting the Gaelic Athletic
Association for the Preservation and Cultivation was founded. From the following
year the Irish Republican Brotherhoodbegan to take a strong interest in the
Association and attempted to take over the Association in its early years, an attempt
that had it succeeded may well have destroyed and ended the Association at that time.
From then the GAA became engrained in the nationalist movement, with WF Mandle
later claiming that by 1914 the GAA could claim to be the single most important
institution in the country,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With all these sources at hand I set out to construct this these which will argue that
not only did the GAA had a great impact on the Easter Rising, but the Easter Rising
also had a great impact on the GAA, in a way that was more positive than maybe
understood and contributed to the Association becoming greater after 1916 than it
had before and therefore becoming the Association that it s founding members had
wanted it to become.
In my construction of this thesis I decided to separate the thesis into five different
chapters which would each deal with different aspects of the GAA before, during and
after the Easter Rising of

It is November 15, 2016. I look out my window hoping that don t see the blazing hot
sun ripping through my white curtains almost taunting me. All I see is the clouds

City Of Masks Research Paper
Venice The Floating City , The City of Masks is the main city of the Venetian
Republic and a great metropolis that makes the current population of Rome and
Florence alike look tiny in comparison.
The City of Masks is a city of many faces; it is a beautiful romantic city not quite
separate from the sea which flows through its many canals. It is a great nexus of
trade and below the city s surface is a world rife with crime and secrets.
Many Venetians wear masks, particularly the nobility for whom fine masks are a
symbol of status. They are popular with the celati as well; sometimes the man who
wears a lupine mask may truly have the face of a snarling wolf hidden just beneath.

An exception is those celati which have families already established in an otherwise
prohibited area assuming they do not seek to move or acquire new properties there.
Those belonging to noble families are more privileged and can ignore this limitation.
It is worth noting some of Venice s prominent noble families have lacerta, nephilim,
apeiron or even cambion among them and they are without a doubt as influential as
any of the purely human families.
It is expected practice in Venice for celati to remain in human form (in cases where
such is possible) or to wear clothing which conceals as much as possible their more
inhuman features. Aside from when within a celati neighborhood or otherwise
amongst primarily other non humans, it s generally considered to be crass to display
one s inhuman features prominently.
When a celati shows its claws it is a likely sign that something is about to go down

Effects Of Social Media In The Workplace
Social media has increasingly been on the rise for over the past 10 years, so has
the concern on the effect of it being in the workplace. People are spending more and
more time on social media and other communication technology (Walder). Because of
this, researchers have begun to wonder what the effect will be in the workplace. The
argument of social media in the workplace is on the rise, and will continue to grow as
the Internet continues to transform the way people are spending their time (Carlson).
In the past few years, social media has become a powerful influence as a new
marketing tool. It is still relatively new, but it continues to be a part of marketing
strategy for various industries. According to the article Integrating Social Media into
the Workplace: A Study of Shifting Technology Use Repertoires. By Walden, Justin,
this study demonstrates that social media is used routinely, employees are
distracted from tasks and threatens of personal privacy. The learning curve is still
pretty high for most companies. Knowledge by professionals is through trial and
error as social media marketing evolves more over time. There are many challenges
businesses are faced with everyday plus managing the use of social media. It can be
overwhelming and frustrating for companies understand this confusing network of
navigating social media in the workplace.

Early Christian Gender Roles
This paper will show that women played a vitally important role in the development
of the early Christian church. Women were the last disciples at the foot of the cross,
and they were the first witnesses at the empty tomb. Due to a predominately
patriarchal society, this may be one of the best kept secrets in Christianity(Kroger).
During the time of Jesus ministry, women were considered inferior to men in
virtually every way. Society expected them to stay at home and to be good wives
and mothers. Women took no part in public discussions or education, and responsible
teachers at the time did not teach women. However, Jesus not only taught women, he
included them in his group of devoted followers. This was a powerful example of
inclusion to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will begin by addressing 1 Corinthians 14:34 35 which states, women should be
silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be
subordinate as the law also says. If there is anything they desire to know, let them
ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church
(Coogan). It must be noted that in this very same letter 1 Corinthians Paul makes it
clear that women did participate in prayer and prophecy in the church. This fact by
itself shows that 1 Corinthians 14:34 35 cannot be regarded as a general and
absolute prohibition against women speaking in church. The silence then must be a
very specific and limited silence for a particular reason. One possible explanation is
to understand that this verse is referring to women asking disruptive questions.
Throughout this chapter, we see that Paul is concerned in having peace and order in
the church meetings. Evidently, the meetings at Corinth had been a bit chaotic with
everybody trying to speak at the same time. Basically, Paul was telling them to speak
one at a time and stop interrupting (Morrison, Women ).
Because wives were usually uneducated in the culture of that time, they would have
numerous questions during the church meetings. . Paul is concerned with correct
behavior and order to allow true learning to occur. Because this can
President Vs. British Prime Minister
In times of peace and in times of peril, great leaders experience the highs and lows of
their office, and are eternally judged through the microscope of history. Although both
icons play a similar role in the executive leadership in government of their country,
there are several differences which separate the President of the United Statesand the
British Prime Minister.
The President is directly elected by the people every four years through the
electoral college. The candidate that acquires the greatest amount of votes claims
the presidency and is allowed to serve up to two, four year terms. Unlike the
President, the Prime Minister is elected by the majority party to which he/she
belongs and is officially appointed by the Monarch. A Prime Minister is elected
every five years, but there is no limit to how many terms they are able to lead their
respective party and lead their nation in their role as Prime Minister.
Another difference between the United States President and British Prime Minister is
that the President derives his powers from the Constitution of the United States of
America, while the Prime Minister derives his powers from constitutional
conventions. This means that even though the United Kingdom does not have a
single, written constitution, there is a collection of rules that have ... Show more

This means that he is not able to guide the course of the legislature and is not a
member of Congress. Different to the United States Presidency, the British Prime
Minister shares his executive power with the Monarch. Since there is shared power,

The Prime Minister is a part of both the legislative and executive branches, which

I think Kozlowski was very clever on how he represented himself and would only tell

someone from the outside to really bring it to attention and events such as the
birthday party in Sardinia and countless authentic art pieces that were being shipped
to the headquarters for personal usage.
WayerskiLMGT7019 8 3 5 The party in Sardinia was a birthday celebration for
Kozlowski s wife. The event was $2 million dollars and Kozlowski wrote off $1
million as a stockholders event and even sent out a company memo to justify the
expenditure (Wilson 2008). I feel that is an act of creative accounting; why would
a CEO, Kozlowski pay for a company event that wasn t non charitable out of his
own pocket? He knew what he could absorb without being questioned. I also think
with the loans that it became to accessible and it became an order of business. It
was done so often and the company had so much revenue that Kozlowski thought he
could just absorb it through company records. The complaint against Kozlowski
from Tyco all its legal language came across to me that he was trying to find ways

Silver In Alloy Essay
Analysis of Silver in an Alloy
Introduction
In this experiment an alloy of silver will be analyzed to determine its silver content.
The silver copper alloy will be dissolved in nitric acid, the silver will be precipitated
as silver chloride, and the silver chloride will be filtered, washed, dried and its mass
determined. From the mass of the silver chloride formed and the mass of the
original sample, you will be able to calculate the percent of silver in the alloy.
Because the results are based on the mass of a product, this procedure is classified as
a gravimetric analysis.
Silver and copper are very nonreactive metals. Neither will dissolve in hydrochloric
acid or sulfuric acid. The oxidizing acid nitric acid, HN03, is ... Show more content

While in table 1 it is shown that we had to round to two decimal places lacing a
small error. And not only that but also the fact that as table 2 shows that the final
amount needed was .0131 g less to the actual mount that we added from table 1.
During the procedure our percent error must of have come from loosing the silver
ions. After heating we had to wash the moisture of the watch glass back into the
beaker and there could have been a possibility that we didn t wash of all of the
silver back into the beaker. When it precipitated, some of the particles may have
peptized causing us to filter out some of the silver chloride precipitate. Also when
removing the filter paper from the buchner funnel some of the precipitate may have
been lost, which is just due to human error. Which all experiments have. Discussion
In the lab you must first dissolve the alloy in nitric acid; if the allot doesn t
completely dissolve it may cause some error in your final result because not all of
your silver ions were dissolved. You then must make a solution of distilled water
added with sodium chloride. Once you calculate the amount of sodium chloride
needed you must double the amount for the experiment to push the reaction to a full
completion. This essentially should precipitate all of silver and none of the copper.
No accurate balance is needed to measure out the sodium chloride because as long as
you have an excess of

The Importance Of French Culture In France
People often wonder what it would be like to explore different cultures, or better
yet, travel to different countries. France to be exact. France is located on the
continent of Europe. France s capital is Paris (ile de France). In France, the french
language is an english based language. Therefore, it is easier to comprehend or make
out what a person is trying to say. The currency in Franceare Euros meaning, one
euro in France equals a dollar and seventeen cents in US dollars (WorldAtlas). A Lot
of their known foods such as french toast, bagels, and even crГЄpes are eaten on a

may eat are french foods and they would not even know it. There are many things
to be informed on about the country, but here are some basic things to focus on
particularly their lifestyle, language, and foods. Lifestyle is the typical way of life
of an individual, group, or culture. The France lifestyle can be a traumatic
experience, and most foreigners are shook by the attitudes of French people
(Zimmerman). If you were to walk into a restaurant or even just a pastry shop, you
would always have to greet them first or they will not serve you. In france properties
range from derelict farmhouses and barns to modern townhouses and apartments with
modern conveniences, but on the other hand manor houses are requiring complete
restoration to new luxury chalets and villas (Zimmerman). Cars driven in France are

What Does T.S. Eliot’s the Waste Land Tell Us About...
What does T.S. Eliot s the Waste Land tell us about modern spaces ?
T.S. Eliot s The Waste Land tells us about modern spaces in various aspects. The
modern space is presented as a dark, unrelenting place that is fragmented through
time and space .The structure of the poem is not created in any logical sense because
of the abstract elements that help make up the overall style of the structure.
Intertextuality is evident in the poem because it references other poets, although there
is a sense of critique in some of these indications. Spirituality is evident in the poem
too because of the aftermath of the World War, which is the main reason for the
wasted land . Industrialism brought out critique from Elliot because it involved ...

This was of course, due to the aftermath of the First World War, with the devastation
of the deaths, and the remains of the trenches, leading people to question the
legitimacy of Christianity. The Waste Landis reflective of these times, with
references to spirituality and new ideas of religion. The line I had not thought
death had un done so many highlights these thoughts of the time of London during
the effects of the post war. According to David Ward, it took TS Elliot a long time
before he could give an assent belief in Christianity and The Waste Land plays a cat
and mouse game with stubborn vestiges of faith, but ends uncertain which is cat
and which is mouse (Ward, pp.75, 1973). Certain critics dismissed Elliot s late
spirituality because, according to Marxist and Freudian, Eliot, after looking deep
into the abyss in The Waste Land, had closed his eyes in horror and stumbled back
into a childish and outdated faith in a childish and outdated God (Bottum, 1995).
However, it could be said that Elliot didn t believe in God, and that his poetry was
not about faith s wait for God, but the hollow man s wait for faith.
Industrialism is another key theme in The Waste Land that invokes modern spaces
because Elliot views modernism to be represented by industrialism, which causes
separation between the general population s body and soul. Bryan Boyce states Elliot

Is God Real?
Have you ever wondered if God exists? Do you have faith and know he s there or
just don t believe in him at all? I believe that God doesn t exist for numerous
reasons. There are however, people who put all of their faith into what they believe
in, whether it s one God or many gods and goddesses.
Those who say that God does exist address that he does many good and pure things
for people. God is said to have created everyone equally which is one of the few facts
that I cannot argue with because there is no way to verify or disprove this fact.
However, some people who believe in God say that He decides who lives and who
dies. If that is true, then why does God make some good
Reflection Paper On University Students
University Adjustments: A Reflection paper by Diate, Kim P. (BSEd Physics)
Changing environment and adapting to wider responsibility is one of the numerous
challenges faced by university students. College life can be considered an important
transition period where an individual experience various new things for the first time,
for instance new pattern of life style, liberation to foreign cultures, roommates,
colleagues and even meeting people of different perspectives [5]. The adjustment
expands from communicating with new peers and colleague up to academic and time
management. The university environment calls for adjustments to the students in all
aspects. For the students who are actively involved in extra curricular activities in
their high school years will have to do extra time management so that they can still
enjoy activities without putting their academic performance at a critical state.
Another very common burden hurdled by students is the budget allocation for both
food consumption as well as the daily demands for school projects and requirements.

Cost Accounting Terminologies, Purpose of Cost...
Part 1 Conceptual Framework
Cost Accounting
Cost accounting, as a tool of management, provides management with detailed
records of the costs relating to products, operations or functions. Cost accounting
refers to the process of determining and accumulating the cost of some particular
product or activity. It also covers classification, analysis and interpretation of costs.
The cost so determined and accumulated may be the estimated future costs for
planning purposes, or actual (historical) costs for evaluating performance. The
Institute of Cost and Management Accountant (ICMA), London, defined cost
accounting as the process of accounting for cost from the point at which expenditure

a) Performance measurement: This measurement can be done by comparing current
costs with those who were expected or standard costs budgeted cost to the degree of
knowing which of them have been controlled. Deviations of expected with the current
variances can be identified, evaluated and discussed by managers.
b) Cost of goods and services: In manufacturing companies, the costs of goods must
be measured to determine the cost of items transferred from work in process
inventory to finished products. To meet the demands for information, a cost system
should measure all the costs of manufacturing process and allocate a portion of those
costs to each unit of output. The cost to obtain, maintain and manage the
manufacturing plant or building should be added to the cost of material and
productive work that requires each unit. The first are called indirect costs and the
two last are called direct costs.
c) Profit analysis. Information in costs is essential to analyze the profits obtained
from a product or product line. The information on the cost of a product enables
managers to assess the contribution margin the difference between

Billie Jean is the second single from Michael Jackson s sixth solo album, Thriller .
It was both written and composed by Michael Jackson and produced by him and
Quincy Jones in 1982. Like most of Michael Jackson s song, Billie Jean became
one of the best selling singles worldwide. This song is classified as R B because of
its soulful singing, driving bass line, strong backbeat, and instrumentation. As the
song begins the instruments act as a pre chorus. The instruments incorporated
within the song are: a drum set, drum machine, electric bass, guitar and a
synthesizer. Billie Jean has a moderate tempo where; the instrumentation builds as
the song approaches choruses and develops as the song progresses. After two
measures of the rhythm played on the drum set, the driving bass line is introduced
which is the foundation of this song. Jackson s vocals are highly emotive as he
sings his story of mistrust. I believe an important factor that makes this song so
special is the performance Michael Jackson gave at Motown s 25th Anniversary
special. This performance became an iconic moment for Jackson as a world of
music, dance and fashion collided all at once as he debuted his signature move, the
moonwalk . The night of Motown s 25th Anniversary special is clearly another

The Cyclical Teen Musical Film
The Cyclical Teen Musical Film Considered by Jane Feuer to be the only form of
musical that retains widespread popularity (123), the teen musical film is a cyclical
sub genre of the musical film that keeps coming back again and again since the
1960s, proving that it is a sub genre here to stay. And since this is a cyclical sub
genre, its historical development is also cyclical in matter: it develops slightly
throughout the cycle, as per many other filmgenres, but always seems to return back
to its original narrativestructure and conventions, even through the stylistic and
sociocultural changes throughout the decades. Each time the teen musical filmhas
come back into mainstream popularity, the films are always characterized by their
dual focus structure primarily a male female main character pairing and the two
thematic elements typical of youth films, as described by Timothy Shary: the
growing up theme, and a conformity/rebellion binary. The only changes are caused
by sociocultural means, including, but not limited to, the Rock n Roll musicals of
the 70 s, the Punk musicals beginning in the late 70 s, and the female centered
narratives of the 80s. Ever since the introduction of sound in the late 1920s and
1930s, the film musical has been a prominent genre. However, up until the end of the
Golden Age of the film musical, the majority of these musical films produced were
geared towards an adult audience to help raise morale during the depression, World

What Ethics Are For More Than 20 Years
I have learned what ethics are for more than 20 years, and I cannot say what
exactly ethics are, but I think ethics are being nice to everyone. In other words, I
have to show respect to all people no matter what religion they have, what culture
they have, where they were from, and what values they have. I try not to hurt
others feelings or make people uncomfortable with my behaviors. Of course it is
hard to please everything since I have my own values and religion. Therefore, I try
to show respect and good behavior to others within my culture, religion, and value.
All people have their own moral and ethical perspectives, and it is difficult to settle
rules or mediate everyone s perspectives. Because of that, most people follow both
the standard laws and their own moral perspectives. My rules that I use in my daily
life to guide my moral behavior are the laws, which is a formal public policy, and
the rules of the Bible. I mostly follow these two things as my moral compass. A
law helps me to know what behavior is right and wrong, and the rules of the Bible
tells me what behavior is good or bad to my identity and values. In the lecture,
Professor Mun said a law is the public s agency for translating moralityinto explicit
social guidelines and practices and for stipulating punishments for offenses.
However, following the guidelines of the law doesn t always make people moral. For
example, cheating on boyfriend or girlfriend is not illegal, but it is obviously bad
because

first appeared in the Andes region of South America throughout the 12th century A.D,
the heterogeneous empire quickly flourished through the military power of their
emperors. They had their own culture and pantheist beliefs up until 1438, however,
the influences of past settlements and the following ninety five years of expansion
caused religious beliefs to change and develop significantly. The Inca conquered
neighbouring Andean regions which had their own set of religious beliefs,
worshipped deities and had unique practices. Nearly all Andean communities
participated in the everyday worship of the forces of nature (including rain,
lightning, thunder, the moon and the rising of the sun each day) and venerated the
earth s physical features (such as snakes, jaguars, rivers and mountains). The
peasants among each allyu (a group of extended families) executed these practices
for thousands of years. Each allyu worshipped their ancestors, which they believed
to originate from the natural world at sacred places called huacas. The Incas built
their own temples, sacred sites, took sacred relics from the locals and held them in
the sacred land Cuzco to encourage compliance with the Inca beliefs and accept the
supremacy of Inti (the most important Inca deity and sun god). Instead of forcing
them to completely convert to the Inca state religion, the Incas assimilated the deities,

Extract Nicotine From Tobacco Samples And Calculate

A Soxhlet extraction is used only if the desire substance we want to extract from the
sample has limited solubility in a particular solvent, and the impurities cannot
dissolve in the solvent. The purpose of this experiment is to extract nicotine from
tobacco samples and calculate the amount of nicotine in it. In this experiment,
nicotine will be the substance we want to get, and dichloromethane will be the solvent
. Through several cycles of extraction, nicotine was able to dissolve in the solvent
which makes the colorof liquid in the extractor to fade. The solvent was later on
evaporated, and nicotine was obtained. Only a little amount of solvent will be used
in this extraction. Since the solvent will go back to the distilling flask again and
began a new cycle. The temperature also cannot be too high; it must depend on the
boiling point of the solvent. The result can tell us the specific amount of nicotine
presented in the sample and it can give us an idea how much nicotine a smoker takes
in a day.
II.Introduction:
We may know that there are lots of tobacco smokers in the world. Tobacco kills
around 6 million people each year. More than 5 million of these deaths are cause by
the direct use of tobacco while over 600,000 of individuals died due to the exposure
to second hand smoke (WHO, 2015). This experiment aims to extract nicotine from
tobacco sample and to calculate the amount of nicotine in a specific brand of cigarette
sample with the use of Soxhlet extraction.
Marxist Theory Of Class Division In Society
When viewed from a capitalistic perspective, there are class divisions in the
current world based on differences between people who control factors of
production (Bourgeois) and those who provide labor (proletariats). These classes
have evolved from the Marxist theory of the history of class struggles. For a person
to understand the class divisions and conflicts, the paper provides a detailed
explanation of the theory. The paper also provides proof that the class division still
exists in the current society. The paper also discusses criticisms and counters
criticisms about the view that there are class divisions in the current workplaces and
society.

They do not own or control any means of production. Instead, they provide labor to
the bourgeois (Gilbert, 2014). As the bourgeois own the means of production, they
acquire power in society. They form the ruling class in the society. They are,
therefore, able to control the proletariat. They use their wealth and power to protect
their properties. The bourgeois class being in control of the factors of production
mercilessly exploit the proletariat in the process of creating wealth for
themselves.According to Marx, capitalism brings about its own destruction. It is
because the class divide ultimately leads to a system of social revolution. As the
bourgeois wealth depends on the labor of the proletariat class, the situation places
power on the proletariats (Allan, 2005). The proletariats have also increased in
number as they are joined by the petty bourgeois. Due to the exploitation by the
bourgeois, the proletariats decide to come together in their large numbers and form
unions where they fight against the dominance of the bourgeois. During the
revolution, the capitalist state fades away and is replaced by a classless state that
believes in the idea of categorizing people according to their abilities and not
according to means of

Butterfly does not reflect the complications between the U.S. and China, but certainly
depicts secret intelligence being traded among the Chinese from an outlier source,
French diplomat Rene Gallimard, who did not realize this deception from his Perfect

important to establish the oriental stereotype that is expressed in the play.
Oriental women have long been fetishized into a stereotype; they are depicted as
submissive and passive, and are silenced by the double pressure from race and sex ,
Oriental woman, as Said (1979) states in Orientalism, is usually viewed ―with

Mayan Calendar Research Paper
There are around forty different calendars used in the world today, usually for
determining pious or religious events. Many countries like the United States use the
Gregorian calendar for their official and modern activities which they are able to
keep everyone organized. Over a thousand years ago in the fifth century the Mayans
came out with the first calendars. There are three types of basic calendars that are
being used today they are solar, lunar and the lunisolar/solilunar calendars. A solar
calendar can be identified by the Sun. This calendar is also based on Earths orbit
around the Sun. Lunar calendars are based on the moonrotation around the Earth.
This type of calendar is used usually for religious dates or purposes
(InpaperMagazine 2013). On the other hand, lunisolar or solilunar calendars connect
the two kinds and is basically solar calendars with dates indicating a moon phase.
The oldest known calendar was made by the Mayans. The Mayans of Central
America relied not only on the Sun and moon, but also on the planet Venus

Legal Abortion Is A Necessity

Legal Abortion is a Necessity
Even though many people have negative opinions on abortions, legal abortion is a
necessity. Women should have access to this because those who do not can
experience more stress than if she was able to have one. Women need to have legal
abortions mainly for the concerns for the mother s and/or baby s health as well as
unwanted pregnancies. In 1972, the Roe v. Wade supreme court case legalized
abortion nationwide but since then numerous states have passed laws to restrict the
availability of abortions. In some states, they now require counseling and a waiting
period before women can receive an abortion. Legal abortion is a safe procedure, and
has a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many women who want an abortion are from low income and/or broken families.
It is needed because they are worried around money and rely on insurance to help
pay for the procedure. Without the insurance to help cover the procedure which can
be up to 1,500 dollars it makes it hard for these women to get them. These laws are
established to make abortions safer for women but many of them are making it
harder to obtain an abortion and making women wait longer for their procedures.
A few states require women to have counseling about the negative mental and
emotional effects abortions can have on women, even though research
consistently shows that abortion is a safe medical procedure and that the
overwhelming majority of women who get abortions feel it was the right decision
for them and do not experience negative psychological reactions after the fact
(Abortion). Studies have shown women who do not have access to an abortion
because of laws and restrictions that may exist in their state, can experience more
stress than if they could have one. The extra stress could be from trying to receive
the procedure, the pressure of society s judgement, or because of the reason(s) they
want to receive the abortion. Most women choose to have an abortion because they
do not have the money for a baby, because they do not want to be a single parent or
believe it would interfere with work, school or their future. Women with these

want to know. For the air compressor we may log more frequently, for example every
five seconds, if we find that the compressor is switching mode very frequently,
otherwise logging at 60 second intervals may be enough. The purpose of the
continuous measurementwill also affect the logging interval. If the first visit gives us
the impression that the compressed air system is an important part of the energy use,
we may measure more carefully to have enough information to suggest detailed
measures. The drawing of the electric

Explain The Sliding Filament Theory Of Muscle Action
The sliding filament theory of a muscle action has five phases. The first phase is
resting. In this phase there is no calcium available to bind the myosin to the actin.
This is the normal state of the muscle until activated by the excitatory phase. During
this second phase, the sarcoplasmic reticulum becomes stimulated. This releases
calcium ions and binds with troponin. This is a protein that is strung along the actin
filaments. Tropomyosin runs along the actin filaments. The actin is pulled closer to
the sarcomere. The contraction phase is when it gets interesting. ATP is broken down
into ADP in order to create energy for the contraction. To return to the normal state of
the muscle, ATP replaces ADP and aids in detachment of the myosin

Big Fish Reflection
Edward Bloom was a story teller. He would tell elaborate stories to his son since he
was born. Not only were the stories exciting, they were told to bring life and
excitement into Edwards life. Growing up, William enjoyed his father s stories. As
time goes on, the stories began to become more and more uneventful and less
entertaining. This was because William has heard the same stories his whole life.
He did not know what was true and what was fake. On his death bed, Edward
reconnects with William by getting him to see that he was not lying his whole life,
just telling his life story in a much more interesting way. Yes, some details were
changed but that does not mean they were all lies. William just did not see that until
the end.
Big fish tells a story of adventure, love, life and death. Edward loved his family most
of all. He let you know many time throughout the film. What stuck out the most to
me was when he finished remodeling Jennifer s house. Jen came on to him. The
love he had for his wife truly showed through when he rejected her affection. This
shows, how that the head of the family loves more than anything: his wife and only
son (Vega). At a young age, Will didn t have the relationship with his father that he
wanted. This was because Edward was often gone for periods of time, traveling and
working. Upon Edwards return, he would tell Will stories of his travels and
adventures. To this end, William was not able to tell if his dads stories were true or
not.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento
On October 23 in Tres Coracoes Brazil, Edson Arantes do Nascimento known as
Pele was born. Pele was living in the city of Bauru with his family when he was
little but he grew up in poverty. His parents named him after Thomas Edison and
was nicknamed Dico . Before he became a really good soccer player he started with
a rolled up sock with rags stuffed in it. There is no origin with the name pele , his
friends just started to call him that. Waldemar de Brito convinced his parents into
letting him try out for the Santos professional soccer club when he was 15 years old.
His first international game was in the year of 1957 against Argentina. That was his
first goal even though Brazil lost the
Baltimore Maryland Population
Many cities are known for their downtown area and their harbors that are along the
different waterways. Baltimore Maryland is a well known area when it comes to its
downtown harbor. Each year the downtown area attracts thousands of tourists and
celebrities. Its most popular time of the year is during the late spring and summer.
Many tourists like to come and enjoy the harbor and the seafood that the city is well
known for. Although the city experiences some pretty harsh winters, the summer is a
totally different story. The city of Baltimorewas founded in July of 1729, and was
named after Lord Baltimore. In 1814 the colonist won the battle of Baltimore which
forced the state of Marylandto become part of the union, but kept slavery legal. In
1861 union troops started a war which lasted until 1865. In February of 1904 the city
experienced the great fire of Baltimore... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It took a deeper look into the total population, the education, income and poverty
levels of both the African American and the white non Hispanic community. When
we sit and compare these numbers we see that the difference in the total population
of African Americans and whites is extremely significant. Majority of the black
community is living below poverty which is an effect of many causes. Some of
the causes are low education rates and low household income. Because individuals
do not finish school its then harder for them to find legal jobs. Although Baltimore
is known for its crime rate as well as its extremely high poverty level there is still
some good within the city. The national harbor brings in thousands of dollars each
year and also brings hundreds of tourists into the area. The city of Baltimore is also
known for its secondary educational facilities it produces and its medical hospitals.
The ACS gave us a deeper look at the things people don t see when they think of the

Dallas seemed to be the most aggressive out of any other region in the state towards the president and his administration. When arriving in the city that Kennedy thought of most importantly on November 22, he and his wife got into a limousine that banded together with two cars containing police and the Secret Service. Driving towards the Trade Mart, the people of Dallas seemed more friendly towards Kennedy than expected with positive signs being held up in the air and cheering of the crowds. After about half an hour into the car ride one of the most shocking moments in American history occurred when a fire of a gun was heard three times by the people near the limousine that contained the president. • 7. Rhetorical Devices In The Birth Of His Son For most parents, the arrival of a newborn brings many emotions ranging from joy to anxiety. Dombey, a father, takes delight in the presence of his newborn baby. He imagines all the great things his son will do, and he excitingly names his son Paul, while Mrs. Dombey recovers from the delivery of the baby boy. Initially, the passage gives off the impression as an innocent story of a father, joyful of his son s arrival to the world. However, as the short passage progresses, the father expresses the real reasons for his happiness through his overly ambitious and egotistical attitude towards the infant. In the short passage, the author uses various rhetorical devices to express his scorn for Dombey s arrogance and pity for Mrs. Dombey and the newborn baby. The author uses metaphor, allusion, and sarcastic diction to emphasize that the birth of Paul ignites Dombey s egotistical aspirations. Even though the son causes happiness within Dombey, they are for selfish reasons. At the beginning of the passage, the narrator utilizes a metaphor in which Dombey compares his son to a muffin, preparing the child by patiently waiting to toast him brown while he was very new. The author suggests that Dombey wrongly objectifies his son. By doing so, Dombey regards his son merely as an accessory, wanting to use him as a vessel for his own happiness, disregarding the emotions and the future of his child. The father has the child s life planned out; he just has to train his son and raise him
  • 8. Hindu Muslim Violence And India Civil violence, often representing ethnic, religious or racial conflict has been rising through the past half century (Gleditsch et al. 2002), but we still have only a limited understanding of its causes. While there is considerable evidence that the outbreak of civil conflict results from poverty (e.g. Miguel et al. 2004; Bohlken and Sergenti 2010; Do and Iyer, 2010), the evidence on other potential causes including the importance of social divisions and political grievances is more controversial (Blattman and Miguel, 2010: p.45). This paper examines Hindu Muslim violence in India. Muslims constitute India s largest religious minority, and the observed patterns of Hindu Muslim violence suggest that Muslims are more likely to have been the victims of such violence (Mitra and Ray, 2010). Since Muslims are also under represented in elected office (constituting only 5% of members in the national legislaturein 2009, down from nearly 9% in 1980), we investigate whether increasing Muslim political representation lowers the incidence of religious conflict. We put together unique data on both the religious identity of politicians and religious conflict for the period 1960 2007, merged at the state and the district level. We account for the potential endogeneity of Muslim representation by instrumenting the share of Muslim legislators with the share of Muslim legislators who win in close elections against Hindus (a strategy similar to that implemented by Lee, 2001 and Clots Figuer

Women were the last disciples at the foot of the cross, and they were the first witnesses at the empty tomb. Due to a predominately patriarchal society, this may be one of the best kept secrets in Christianity(Kroger). During the time of Jesus ministry, women were considered inferior to men in virtually every way. Society expected them to stay at home and to be good wives and mothers. Women took no part in public discussions or education, and responsible teachers at the time did not teach women. However, Jesus not only taught women, he included them in his group of devoted followers. This was a powerful example of inclusion to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We will begin by addressing 1 Corinthians 14:34 35 which states, women should be silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be subordinate as the law also says. If there is anything they desire to know, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church (Coogan). It must be noted that in this very same letter 1 Corinthians Paul makes it clear that women did participate in prayer and prophecy in the church. This fact by itself shows that 1 Corinthians 14:34 35 cannot be regarded as a general and absolute prohibition against women speaking in church. The silence then must be a very specific and limited silence for a particular reason. One possible explanation is to understand that this verse is referring to women asking disruptive questions. Throughout this chapter, we see that Paul is concerned in having peace and order in the church meetings. Evidently, the meetings at Corinth had been a bit chaotic with everybody trying to speak at the same time. Basically, Paul was telling them to speak one at a time and stop interrupting (Morrison, Women ). Because wives were usually uneducated in the culture of that time, they would have numerous questions during the church meetings. . Paul is concerned with correct behavior and order to allow true learning to occur. Because this can

Although both icons play a similar role in the executive leadership in government of their country, there are several differences which separate the President of the United Statesand the British Prime Minister. The President is directly elected by the people every four years through the electoral college. The candidate that acquires the greatest amount of votes claims the presidency and is allowed to serve up to two, four year terms. A Prime Minister is elected every five years, but there is no limit to how many terms they are able to lead their respective party and lead their nation in their role as Prime Minister. Another difference between the United States President and British Prime Minister is that the President derives his powers from the Constitution of the United States of America, while the Prime Minister derives his powers from constitutional conventions. During the procedure our percent error must of have come from loosing the silver ions. After heating we had to wash the moisture of the watch glass back into the beaker and there could have been a possibility that we didn t wash of all of the silver back into the beaker. You then must make a solution of distilled water added with sodium chloride. Once you calculate the amount of sodium chloride needed you must double the amount for the experiment to push the reaction to a full completion. This essentially should precipitate all of silver and none of the copper. No accurate balance is needed to measure out the sodium chloride because as long as you have an excess of

The line I had not thought death had un done so many highlights these thoughts of the time of London during the effects of the post war. According to David Ward, it took TS Elliot a long time before he could give an assent belief in Christianity and The Waste Land plays a cat and mouse game with stubborn vestiges of faith, but ends uncertain which is cat and which is mouse (Ward, pp.75, 1973). Certain critics dismissed Elliot s late spirituality because, according to Marxist and Freudian, Eliot, after looking deep into the abyss in The Waste Land, had closed his eyes in horror and stumbled back into a childish and outdated faith in a childish and outdated God (Bottum, 1995). However, it could be said that Elliot didn t believe in God, and that his poetry was not about faith s wait for God, but the hollow man s wait for faith. Industrialism is another key theme in The Waste Land that invokes modern spaces because Elliot views modernism to be represented by industrialism, which causes separation between the general population s body and soul. Part 1 Conceptual Framework Cost Accounting Cost accounting, as a tool of management, provides management with detailed records of the costs relating to products, operations or functions. Cost accounting refers to the process of determining and accumulating the cost of some particular product or activity. It also covers classification, analysis and interpretation of costs. The cost so determined and accumulated may be the estimated future costs for planning purposes, or actual (historical) costs for evaluating performance. The Institute of Cost and Management Accountant (ICMA), London, defined cost accounting as the process of accounting for cost from the point at which expenditure incurred or committed to the establishment of its ... To meet the demands for information, a cost system should measure all the costs of manufacturing process and allocate a portion of those costs to each unit of output. The cost to obtain, maintain and manage the manufacturing plant or building should be added to the cost of material and productive work that requires each unit. The first are called indirect costs and the two last are called direct costs. c) Profit analysis. Information in costs is essential to analyze the profits obtained from a product or product line. It was both written and composed by Michael Jackson and produced by him and Quincy Jones in 1982. Like most of Michael Jackson s song, Billie Jean became one of the best selling singles worldwide. This song is classified as R B because of its soulful singing, driving bass line, strong backbeat, and instrumentation. As the song begins the instruments act as a pre chorus. The instruments incorporated within the song are: a drum set, drum machine, electric bass, guitar and a synthesizer. Billie Jean has a moderate tempo where; the instrumentation builds as the song approaches choruses and develops as the song progresses. After two measures of the rhythm played on the drum set, the driving bass line is introduced which is the foundation of this song. Jackson s vocals are highly emotive as he sings his story of mistrust. I believe an important factor that makes this song so special is the performance Michael Jackson gave at Motown s 25th Anniversary special. This performance became an iconic moment for Jackson as a world of music, dance and fashion collided all at once as he debuted his signature move, the moonwalk . The night of Motown s 25th Anniversary special is clearly another example that shows James Brown s musical influence. Elements of

  • 29. The Cyclical Teen Musical Film The Cyclical Teen Musical Film Considered by Jane Feuer to be the only form of musical that retains widespread popularity (123), the teen musical film is a cyclical sub genre of the musical film that keeps coming back again and again since the 1960s, proving that it is a sub genre here to stay. And since this is a cyclical sub genre, its historical development is also cyclical in matter: it develops slightly throughout the cycle, as per many other filmgenres, but always seems to return back to its original narrativestructure and conventions, even through the stylistic and sociocultural changes throughout the decades. Each time the teen musical filmhas come back into mainstream popularity, the films are always characterized by their dual focus structure primarily a male female main character pairing and the two thematic elements typical of youth films, as described by Timothy Shary: the growing up theme, and a conformity/rebellion binary. The only changes are caused by sociocultural means, including, but not limited to, the Rock n Roll musicals of the 70 s, the Punk musicals beginning in the late 70 s, and the female centered narratives of the 80s. Ever since the introduction of sound in the late 1920s and 1930s, the film musical has been a prominent genre. However, up until the end of the Golden Age of the film musical, the majority of these musical films produced were geared towards an adult audience to help raise morale during the depression, World War I, and
  • 30. What Ethics Are For More Than 20 Years I have learned what ethics are for more than 20 years, and I cannot say what exactly ethics are, but I think ethics are being nice to everyone. In other words, I have to show respect to all people no matter what religion they have, what culture they have, where they were from, and what values they have. I try not to hurt others feelings or make people uncomfortable with my behaviors. Of course it is hard to please everything since I have my own values and religion. Therefore, I try to show respect and good behavior to others within my culture, religion, and value. All people have their own moral and ethical perspectives, and it is difficult to settle rules or mediate everyone s perspectives. Because of that, most people follow both the standard laws and their own moral perspectives. My rules that I use in my daily life to guide my moral behavior are the laws, which is a formal public policy, and the rules of the Bible. I mostly follow these two things as my moral compass. A law helps me to know what behavior is right and wrong, and the rules of the Bible tells me what behavior is good or bad to my identity and values. In the lecture, Professor Mun said a law is the public s agency for translating moralityinto explicit social guidelines and practices and for stipulating punishments for offenses. However, following the guidelines of the law doesn t always make people moral. For example, cheating on boyfriend or girlfriend is not illegal, but it is obviously bad because

They had their own culture and pantheist beliefs up until 1438, however, the influences of past settlements and the following ninety five years of expansion caused religious beliefs to change and develop significantly. The Inca conquered neighbouring Andean regions which had their own set of religious beliefs, worshipped deities and had unique practices. Nearly all Andean communities participated in the everyday worship of the forces of nature (including rain, lightning, thunder, the moon and the rising of the sun each day) and venerated the earth s physical features (such as snakes, jaguars, rivers and mountains). The peasants among each allyu (a group of extended families) executed these practices for thousands of years. Each allyu worshipped their ancestors, which they believed to originate from the natural world at sacred places called huacas. The Incas built their own temples, sacred sites, took sacred relics from the locals and held them in the sacred land Cuzco to encourage compliance with the Inca beliefs and accept the supremacy of Inti (the most important Inca deity and sun god). Instead of forcing them to completely convert to the Inca state religion, the Incas assimilated the deities, beliefs and culture of

A Soxhlet extraction is used only if the desire substance we want to extract from the sample has limited solubility in a particular solvent, and the impurities cannot dissolve in the solvent. The purpose of this experiment is to extract nicotine from tobacco samples and calculate the amount of nicotine in it. In this experiment, nicotine will be the substance we want to get, and dichloromethane will be the solvent . Through several cycles of extraction, nicotine was able to dissolve in the solvent which makes the colorof liquid in the extractor to fade. The solvent was later on evaporated, and nicotine was obtained. Only a little amount of solvent will be used in this extraction. Since the solvent will go back to the distilling flask again and began a new cycle. The temperature also cannot be too high; it must depend on the boiling point of the solvent. The result can tell us the specific amount of nicotine presented in the sample and it can give us an idea how much nicotine a smoker takes in a day. II.Introduction: We may know that there are lots of tobacco smokers in the world. Tobacco kills around 6 million people each year. More than 5 million of these deaths are cause by the direct use of tobacco while over 600,000 of individuals died due to the exposure to second hand smoke (WHO, 2015). This experiment aims to extract nicotine from tobacco sample and to calculate the amount of nicotine in a specific brand of cigarette sample with the use of Soxhlet extraction.

Marxist Theory Of Class Division In Society When viewed from a capitalistic perspective, there are class divisions in the current world based on differences between people who control factors of production (Bourgeois) and those who provide labor (proletariats). For a person to understand the class divisions and conflicts, the paper provides a detailed explanation of the theory. Instead, they provide labor to the bourgeois (Gilbert, 2014). As the bourgeois own the means of production, they acquire power in society. They form the ruling class in the society. They are, therefore, able to control the proletariat. They use their wealth and power to protect their properties. The bourgeois class being in control of the factors of production mercilessly exploit the proletariat in the process of creating wealth for themselves.According to Marx, capitalism brings about its own destruction. It is because the class divide ultimately leads to a system of social revolution. As the bourgeois wealth depends on the labor of the proletariat class, the situation places power on the proletariats (Allan, 2005). The proletariats have also increased in number as they are joined by the petty bourgeois. Due to the exploitation by the bourgeois, the proletariats decide to come together in their large numbers and form unions where they fight against the dominance of the bourgeois. During the revolution, the capitalist state fades away and is replaced by a classless state that believes in the idea of categorizing people according to their abilities and not according to means of

These laws are established to make abortions safer for women but many of them are making it harder to obtain an abortion and making women wait longer for their procedures. A few states require women to have counseling about the negative mental and emotional effects abortions can have on women, even though research consistently shows that abortion is a safe medical procedure and that the overwhelming majority of women who get abortions feel it was the right decision for them and do not experience negative psychological reactions after the fact (Abortion). Studies have shown women who do not have access to an abortion because of laws and restrictions that may exist in their state, can experience more stress than if they could have one. • 41. Explain The Sliding Filament Theory Of Muscle Action The sliding filament theory of a muscle action has five phases. The first phase is resting. In this phase there is no calcium available to bind the myosin to the actin. This is the normal state of the muscle until activated by the excitatory phase. During this second phase, the sarcoplasmic reticulum becomes stimulated. This releases calcium ions and binds with troponin. This is a protein that is strung along the actin filaments. Tropomyosin runs along the actin filaments. The actin is pulled closer to the sarcomere. The contraction phase is when it gets interesting. ATP is broken down into ADP in order to create energy for the contraction. To return to the normal state of the muscle, ATP replaces ADP and aids in detachment of the myosin cross
