This document provides an overview of various industrial ethernet technologies. It divides the technologies into three classes - Class A uses standard ethernet hardware and TCP/IP, Class B uses standard hardware but a dedicated process data protocol, and Class C uses dedicated hardware for high performance. The document then summarizes key aspects of several industrial ethernet technologies, including PROFINET, comparing their performance, capabilities and limitations.
PLCs running code generated from MATLAB/Simulink have recently been promoted heavily on the Hannover Messe and SPS Drives. What is this? How do we use the quite unknown oversampling and I-Device features of PROFINET to even extend the application range? Some basics and use cases from industry to inspire you!
An overview of IO-Link. The digital point to point solution for sensor actuators and more, typically using standard 3-wire M12 cables extending fieldbuses such as PROFIBUS and PROFINET for the last 20 meters.
Good quality PROFIBUS and PROFINET training has been widely available for installers, maintenance technicians and engineers for many years. Unfortunately, key decision makers – managers, system designers and system integrators are quite often less well trained than others who are involved in the engineering. Many of the mistakes that can be seen in installations are traceable to fundamental design decisions that were taken at the early stages of the project.
This presentation explores the key considerations in PROFIBUS and PROFINET system design. Aspects such as system performance and maintainability of different designs and layouts are examined together with overall project costs. The presentation will also try to shed some light on the often asked question should I use PROFIBUS or PROFINET?
Finally, an overview will be presented of proposed PROFIBUS and PROFINET System Design courses.
Previously named "PROFIBUS Basic Slide Set" this new (2017) version includes technologies of PROFIBUS and PROFINET as well as new accompanying technologies such as FDI.
Over time PROFIBUS technologies have been and will be further complemented and replaced with the even more powerful, Ethernet-based PROFINET technology.
This will also happen in the process automation application field.
Overview of PROFIBUS and PROFINET family.
Technology and applications.
A look at who needs access to the data in our control
system and how this is achieved.
A description of “Device Profiles”. Why these are
important and how they simplify life for the user.
PROFINET what it is, what it isn't and some myths.
Quick look at the support and training that are
available

Industrial Ethernet, Part 1: TechnologiesControlEng
Industrial Ethernet implementations continue to gain traction on the plant floor and in process plants. What are the key industrial Ethernet technologies being installed today and why? Learn from automation system integrators about criteria used to choose types of switches, cabling, and topologies being applied for industrial Ethernet applications. Ethernet survey results are discussed. An exam and certificate are available for one professional development hour (PDH), according to Registered Continuing Education Program (RCEP) rules from the American Council of Engineering Companies.
For training sessions, demonstration sessions by vendors of diagnostic tools and for stress testing of PROFIBUS DP networks, a compact “error generator” tool was developed. The decoding of UART characters, testing for trigger conditions, generation of errors on RS485, the HMI, etc. of an FPGA based error generator is discussed.
What is PROFIBUS PA?
Most people understand that:
The PROFIBUS PA protocol is exactly the same as PROFIBUS
DP. I.e. the structure and content of the telegrams are the
same.
But the PA physical layer uses Manchester Bus Powered
(MBP) wiring instead of the RS485 wiring used in DP.
However, this is not totally correct!
PA devices can have an RS485 interface.
The real difference between DP and PA is that PA devices must
adhere to the “PROFIBUS PA profile”.
The PA profile defines how the device data is organised and
accessed and defines which functions and parameters must be provided on PA devices.
PROFINET in action at a major plant of AUDI
The paper describes the successful deployment of a diagnostic and monitoring solution for the provision of network perfomance status based on PROFINET diagnostics. The implementation took place in a major plant of AUDI, one of Germany’s leading car manufacturers.
AUDI’s decision to standardize on PROFINET as communication protocol within its plants was in accordance with the recommendation of the German AIDA organisation (an initiative of the leading German car manufacturers Audi, BMW, Daimler, Volkswagen and Porsche) to introduce PROFINET for automation projects in the German Automotive Industry in 2004.
AUDI’s specific requirements for the implementation of the PROFINET communication protocol went beyond the scope of typical network diagnostics and included the following:
Provision of network and error statistics as well as diagnostic information read from devices
Access to topology and asset information such as current firmware versions in real-time
Detection of added or failed devices and the creation of a reference measurement
Availability of the communication metrics for subsequent comparison
Graphical display of possible changes
Secure access from the overall network – managed by the IT department – to the automation network
Although PROFIBUS can provide robust, long lasting network reliability and resilience, special tools are recommended to check on the quality of each new installation and to help with the long term maintenance of the originally achieved levels of performance. In this talk we outline what can be expected of such tools, how and when they should be used and the important network performance indicators that can be checked. These tools are recommended for use during commissioning of new systems, before new system acceptance and on a regular basis thereafter in order to help ongoing reliability and successful operation. Collection and logging of comprehensive network performance reports from the test tool, at or soon after first system acceptance, can then provide an extremely valuable benchmark against which to compare all future measurements in the years ahead.
This presentation will introduce the concept of profiles and in
particular the PA profile, which is mandatory for all PROFIBUS
PA devices.
The presentation will briefly explain the structure of the PA
profile and show the benefits that this can bring when working
with extensive and complex plants.
We will include a practical demonstration showing
manufacturer independent remote device access for device
which provides functions for commissioning, maintenance,
calibration and monitoring.

Stable Ethernet TCP/IP Real Time Communication In Industrial Embedded Applica...IJRES Journal
A stable Ethernet communication link in industrial embedded applications and networking are possible at all levels of industrial automation, especially in the controller level whereby the data exchanges in real-time communication is mandatory. Designing a Robust and Reliable Industrial Communications Infrastructure with Ethernet has traditionally been used to network enterprise workstations and to transfer non-real-time data. The success of Ethernet in the desktop world has been due to its simplicity, expandability, robustness, and affordable implementation. Based on Ethernet’s success as a data network, embedded soft real-time communication networks are being implemented with standard 100 Mbit/s Ethernet for economy, familiarity, and compatibility with enterprise networks. By using TCP/IP on top of Ethernet, embedded systems can become globally accessible from enterprise networks. This connectivity and interoperability is possible, and affordable using commodity off-the shelf (COTS) hardware and software, which has led to a recent surge in interest in embedded Ethernet.

In this white paper, the authors explain why OPC UA TSN will emerge as the uniform, vendor-independent communication solution that meets the current and future challenges of the Industrial IoT – all the way down to the field level. Experts from well-known IT and OT providers also note that, in the future, real-time capability will be achievable using standard Ethernet hardware. The result will be a substantial reduction in the cost of implementing industrial networks.
The authors of this white paper describe how the individual OPC UA services interact with TSN functions to meet the unique requirements of industrial communication networks. Test results have shown that OPC UA TSN networks outperform conventional solutions by a factor of 18. The authors also provide the first ever description of how to easily and reliably configure OPC UA TSN networks.
The white paper has been written in cooperation with experts from the following companies and research institutes: ABB Automation Products, Bosch Rexroth, B&R Industrial Automation, Cisco Systems, Fraunhofer IOSB-INA, General Electric Company, Hirschmann Automation and Control, Huawei Technologies, Intel Corporation, Kalycito Infotech, Moxa, Phoenix Contact Electronics, Schneider Electric, TTTech Computertechnik.

ABB Corporate Research: Overview of Wired Industrial Ethernet Switching Solut...Ken Ott
Presented at ICN 2014 : The Thirteenth International Conference on Networks, 2014-6-20. Authors: Gyorgy Kalman, Dalimir Orfanus, Rahil Hussain; ABB Corporate Research.
Abstract—Industrial Ethernet is the preferred network technology in industrial green field deployments. Active devices interconnecting the nodes are switches. In an industrial deployment, nodes are typically located on the same Layer 2 network. Routers or firewalls are almost exclusively used at the network edges. The current trend on engineering of industrial devices is to include an embedded Ethernet switch, instead of using discrete units. This paper is giving an overview on switch implementation possibilities, with respect to performance, features, logical architecture and flexibility.
Particularly relevant to people responsible for the design of PROFINET networks, highlighting the common errors and assumptions made that could make on-going support of the network rather difficult.
Significant amount of research and development has been made in the field of core network and it operates in hundreds Gigabits per second (Gbps) speed currently. But on seeing the growth in bandwidth demand in the access network which is exploding day by day, the only promising solution is to upgrade the access network. So it is essential to have an efficient access network that can operate at high functional speeds to support differentiated services like Video on Demand (VOD), High Definition TV, video conferencing, Telemedicine, Uploading and Downloading jumbo files. Apart from these access network always been sensitive to cost and geographical region of coverage it can handle. So internet service providers will have to make a tradeoff between capital expenditure (CAPEX), operational expenditure (OPEX) and geographical region of coverage.
There are mainly five types of access network APON, BPON, GPON, EPON and 10G-EPON. APON provides 622 Mbps of downstream bandwidth and 155 Mbps of upstream. GPON was the advanced version of the BPON and support at a rate of 2.444 Mbps and 1.42 Mbps in downstream and upstream data rate. EPON has symmetry of 1Gbps of upstream and downstream rates. EPON is totally data-centric based on voice, video and data. 10G-EPON is capable of providing broadband access to large number of customers in metropolitan area. Due to the advancement in the optical technology, 10G-EPON (IEEE 803.2av) provides 1Gbps and 10Gbps upstream and downstream data rate with distance more than 20 km.
Serial interface module for ethernet based applicationseSAT Journals
Abstract The introduction of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) which includes thousands of logic gates has made it feasible to prove specific software function on the particular hardware. This reduces the design time and the execution time and makes the embedded system to respond faster as a real time system. This paper serial interface module for Ethernet based Applications deals with the Study and the implementation of the Tri-mode Ethernet Media access control (TEMAC) which is present in the FPGA core. The Virtex-5 FPGA supports the 10Mbps, 100Mbps as well as 1000Mbps but in this paper contains the implementation of 1000Mbps (1Gigabit bits per second) data transfer rate. This project basically deals with communication established between the FPGA core and the PC. The IP core is interfaced with its transceiver module and communicated to the PC using Ethernet medium. The communication established is verified by interfacing the FIFO and the UART VHDL codes to the TEMAC IP core present on the Virtex-5 FPGA. The result at each module is verified on the Chipscope pro analyzer and the packet transmitted from FPGA to the PC is verified on the Wireshark software. Key Words: FPGA, Ethernet, TEMAC core , and Gigabit.
Transforming a traditional home gateway into a hardwareaccelerated SDN switchIJECEIAES
Nowadays, traditional home gateways must support increasingly complex applica-tions while keeping their cost reasonably low. Software Defined Networking (SDN) would simplify the management of those devices, but such an approach is typically reserved for new hardware devices, specifically engineered for this paradigm. As a consequence, typical SDN-based home gateway performs the switching in software, resulting in non-negligible performance degradation. In this paper, we provide our experience and findings of adding the OpenFlow support into a non-OpenFlow compatible home gateway, exploiting the possible hardware speedup available in the existing platform. We present our solution that transparently offloads a portion of the OpenFlow rule into the hardware, while keeping the remaining ones in software, being able to support the presence of multiple hardware tables with a different set of features. Moreover, we illustrate the design choices used to implement the func-tionalities required by the OpenFlow protocol (e.g., packet-in, packet-out messages) and finally, we evaluate the resulting architecture, showing the significant advantage in terms of performance that can be achieved by exploiting the underlying hardware, while maintaining an SDN-type ability to program and to instantiate desired network operations from a central controller.
Communication Performance Over A Gigabit Ethernet NetworkIJERA Editor
A present computing imposes heavy demands on the optical communication network. Gigabit Ethernet technology can provide the required bandwidth to meet these demands. However, it has also involve the communication Impediment to progress from network media to TCP(Transfer control protocol) processing. In this paper, present an overview of Gigabit per second Ethernet technology and study the end-to-end Gigabit Ethernet communication bandwidth and retrieval time. Performance graphs are collected using NetPipe in this clearly show the performance characteristics of TCP/IP over Gigabit Ethernet. These indicate the impact of a number of factors such as processor speeds, network adaptors, versions of the Linux Kernel or opnet softwar and device drivers, and TCP/IP(Internet protocol) tuning on the performance of Gigabit Ethernet between two Pentium II/350 PCs. Among the important conclusions are the marked superiority of the 2.1.121 and later development kernels and 2.2.x production kernels of Linux or opnet softwar used and that the ability to increase the MTU(maximum transmission unit) Further than the Ethernet standard of 1500 could significantly enhance the throughput reachable.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.
Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

This project provides an easy access to Administrators and Managers to view orders placed using Pay Later and Instant Pay options.
In order to develop an e-commerce website, a number of Technologies must be studied and understood. These include multi-tiered architecture, server and client-side scripting techniques, implementation technologies, programming language (such as PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and MySQL relational databases. This is a project with the objective to develop a basic website where a consumer is provided with a shopping cart website and also to know about the technologies used to develop such a website.
This document will discuss each of the underlying technologies to create and implement an e- commerce website.
