Each month, COR strives to deepen one’s understanding of Gentle Teaching through the development of a monthly theme focusing on a particular aspect of a Culture of Gentleness.
Health & Wellness Themes of the Month are focused on raising awareness about important health topics. The different dimensions of health play a key role in how we thrive and succeed not only in our personal lives, but within our job and career. These themes help create a healthy balance between those dimensions and foster healthy conversation as an organization about how we can improve our quality of life from one day to the next. When we are aware of these dimensions, we can assist in raising awareness to those we serve in helping them to improve their own quality of life. A few topics we cover include: Connecting with nature, STEPtember, diabetes, hydration, de-cluttering and organizing your life, and of course having fun, just to name a few.
A spirit of gentleness ushers brokenness into a heartfelt place of hope, a promise of unconditional human valuing that reconciles fear with the inherent, human longing to feel safe and to feel loved, unconditionally. The philosophical principles of Gentle Teaching provide a framework for the integrative practice and unconditional promise of expected, good outcomes. Together, these three “P’s” lean toward integrating a new moral memory (feeling safe and feeling loved) with each one’s ability to reach toward human fulfillment. Learning to feel safe and loved leads to developing a sense of community.
Creating companionship and community with others invites a sense of belonging and of being valued. These are keys for social-emotional development that unlock human potential.

Mentoring is a universal practice present in almost every culture. In Africa, mentoring is mostly informal than formal. A youth can regularly receive guidance, words of wisdom from his parents, family members or an elder in the society. However, when mentoring is being informal and unstructured, it's very difficult to assess and measure its effectiveness. I therefore believe that there is a need for more structured mentoring programs in Africa. These formalised mentoring program could be holistically integrated into high school and university curriculum so that no student can end his learning journey without being mentored.
Mentoring is a key missing component in most of the higher institutions of learning and even in the workplace. Developing a culture of mentoring will definitely contribute to leadership develop in Africa
Mentoring is very important in all organizations and institutions.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Establishing a Mentorship Programme
1. MAKING THE MOST OF
BEING A MENTOR &
SETTING UP A SYSTEM
Presented by Janel P. Phillip – BSc, MSc.
2. Mentor Workshop Objectives
o Define the purpose of
mentoring.
o Prepare the mentors for the
realities of the mentoring
experience.
3. Mentoring Purpose#1
“Mentoring is about the
FUTURE. It is about changing
the world by opening it up
(increasing the awareness) for
young people.”
4. What is Mentoring? :
Mentoring is a relationship with its
primary focus on the mentor, along
with the parents, providing friendship,
support and guidance for the mentee.
A mentoring relationship can take
many forms. In the best relationships,
the mentor helps the mentee establish
and achieve his/her goals.
5. The Bible on Mentorship
Proverbs 22:6Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old
he will not depart from it.
Titus 2:3-5 ESV /Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not
slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so
train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-
controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own
husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.
Proverbs 27:17 ESV /Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.
Psalm 145:4 ESV /One generation shall commend your works to another,
and shall declare your mighty acts.
1 Peter 2:1-2 ESV / So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy
and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual
milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation
1 Corinthians 11:1 ESV / Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ

12. Calling all Christian Mentors!
“Compared to atheists and agnostics,
Protestants are less knowledgeable about the
teachings, history and figures of major world
religions, a new survey reveals”. -
www.christianpost.com
Researchers from the Pew Forum on Religion
and Public Life polled more than 3,400
people. They were asked questions about the
Bible, Christianity and other world religions.
14. Calling all Christian Mentors

unto others as you would have them do
unto you,” is not one of the Ten

20. Neuroplasticity
Neuroplasticity is a process that
reshapes and fine tunes (both
strengthening & pruning) the more
than 100 trillion neural connections
(synapses) that exist in the human
brain. Each single neuron can receive
signals from 5,000 – 10,000 other
neurons through dendrite
connections:
22. Neuroplasticity
A single neuron has only one axon to
transmit signals, so it tends to “listen”
to input from many of its dendrite
connections before sending a signal
of its own. Neuroplasticity is the
biological method for how the brain
responds to its environment –
learning the skills and adaptive
behavior necessary to survive.
23. The Teenage Brain

younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe
yourselves, ALL OF YOU, with humility
toward one another, for “God opposes
