Essays On The Hobbit
Writing an essay on "Essays On The Hobbit" can be both challenging and rewarding. The
difficulty lies not only in crafting a coherent and well-structured piece but also in delving deep
into the themes, characters, and nuances of J.R.R. Tolkien's masterpiece. The Hobbit, with its
rich narrative and intricate world-building, offers a plethora of topics to explore, making it both
fascinating and daunting for the essay writer.
To begin with, one must navigate the extensive lore of Middle-earth, understanding the unique
races, cultures, and histories that contribute to the narrative. Analyzing the protagonist, Bilbo
Baggins, requires a keen insight into his character development, motivations, and the
transformative journey he undertakes. The themes of heroism, friendship, and the battle between
good and evil are prevalent, demanding a nuanced discussion that goes beyond surface-level
analysis.
Moreover, addressing the impact of The Hobbit on the fantasy genre and its enduring popularity
adds another layer of complexity. It involves examining Tolkien's writing style, the cultural
context of the time, and the lasting influence on subsequent literature.
Crafting a compelling essay on this topic also requires striking a balance between personal
interpretation and academic rigor. It necessitates a deep engagement with the source material,
critical thinking, and the ability to express one's ideas coherently.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on "Essays On The Hobbit" poses its challenges, it is an
opportunity for intellectual growth and exploration. The intricate world of Middle-earth, coupled
with the profound themes woven into the narrative, offers a rich tapestry for analysis. The
difficulty lies in doing justice to this complexity, but the reward is in unraveling the layers of
meaning within Tolkien's masterpiece.

пЃ¶Introduction
The STAP s theory was published by Lawrence E. Brennan and Irving S. Reed in
the early 1970s. Space time adaptive processing (STAP) is a signal processing
technique which is most commonly used by radar systems. Radar signal processing
benefits from STAP in areas where interference is a problem (i.e. Ground clutter,
jamming, etc.). It is very easy to find the target using this method. STAP uses a two
dimensional filtering technique using a phased array antenna with multiple spatial
channels. To implement STAP an antenna array is used, over a several pulse
repetition intervals. The output of this is a linear combination or weighted sum of the
input signal.
Basic Concept of how it works
Here the signal is broadcasted all over. When it detects the object signal is sent
back to the antenna and this way the object is detected. It is same as the person
speaks some words in well and echo comes back with the same words. This way
signal come back with some information about the object. RADAR

reflected by the target and then received by the same radar.
Analysis Of The Poem I Hell And Back
Audie Murphy, one of the most well recognized and most decorated soldiers of the
United States Army of World War II, participated in two battles which earned him
respect and awards. The first, his efforts in taking Yellow Beach of southern
France, earned him the Distinguished Service Cross. The second, in a battle outside
of Holtzwihr, France, earned him the Medal of Honor. Not only are these events
well documented for official records, they appear in his autobiography To Hell and
Back, ghostwritten by David Spec McClure with Murphy providing details, along
with various sources which include family scrapbooks, the accounts of soldiers who
served with Murphy which they gave for his medal citations, and a recently published

This account, so far, squares with an account by Staff Sergeant Norman Hollen, also
of Company B. Not mentioned in Hollen s account was Murphy s killing of two
Germans who he stumbled across before finding the light machine gun, a fact which
both Smith s and Graham s accounts mention .
The accounts do seem to differ in that Murphy describes machine gun fire being
responsible for Tipton s death while Hollen suggests it was a sniper . Graham supports
Murphy s assertion of machine gun fire being the cause of Tipton s death, as he
places the blame not on a sniper in the house, but on the machine gun nest which
Murphy storms . Meanwhile, David Smith, writer of The Price of Valor, sides with
Hollen, claiming a single sniper shot was responsible for Tipton s death. Two schools
of thought appeared in the literature about what occurred and there seems no way of
reconciling them. However, Smith claims that Murphy said that it was a sniper, not a
machine gun, contradicting the narrative of To Hell and Back.
Murphy s and Graham s accounts seem to show that he did not use his carbine,
while Hollen and Smith both claim that Murphy killed the two Germans who had
approached with the flag of surrender with his carbine. Murphy, Smith, and Graham
all agree that Murphy carried a German machine gun which he had captured like a
BAR and fired it from the hip as he proceeded up the hill. This detail wasn t
mentioned by Hollen, who
History 302 Reflection
Theory and history I always thought never go together and when it was required for
me to take History 302 I was very confused why it was a theory class. At the start
and throughout the class it was a struggle to keep up what it meant to look at history
through a Marxist, cultural, or social lens and how that had anything to do with
theory. The class was a struggle but not impossible as each article or monograph that
were given out for readings provided insight of what these lens were meant to do.
Even though I have taken upper division classes at CSULA and studied
historiography, history302 provided me with a new perspective on how history
progressed through time. This course brought me a variety of different viewpoints
that I did not see... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marxist lens allowed me to change my grand narrative view of history and be able
to see the struggle between two parties and how that was rooted in many
monographs and lectures. When we were discussing about Marxist and Marxism I
connected more closely with that than the other lens that was taught later in the
year. I always saw the struggle between two parties as the root in every history and
monographs but always assumed that it was how history was researched and
taught. It slightly changed my perspective as I now know that my lens was not
grand narrative but more of a Marxist. This allowed my progression as a history
student to be able to look at monographs and be able to figure out the viewpoint the
historian is trying to establish to the readers. I had the most difficult time with
Foucault and his social theory as it was hard to separate what I believed was
economic when it was social. Eric Avila and his cultural theory was a bit easier for
me as I felt more comfortable with cultural theory compared to social theory. This
class provided me with different monographs based on each theory that has
strengthened my skills with writing and critical analyze of historical
The Sustainability Of The Telstra Network
Research Project
Introduction of Telstra
Telstra is the Australia s leading telecommunication and information services
company. It has provided the range of communication services which are competent
in the market. The industry offer 16 million mobile services, 7.5 million fixed voice
services and three million retail fixed broadband services around the country. The
company comprise with the Australia largest stakeholders with 1.4 million. The
research projects will discuss and analyse the sustainability of the Telstra network
business in the environment through the review of academic works, corporate
websites and annual reports. It also focuses on different trends which are applied by
Telstra to bring drastic change in the eco friendly atmosphere.
To start, the centralised/vertical structure of Telstra is designed to accomplish the
targeted goal. The organizations produce the products which travel through
manufacturers to wholesalers then to customers. Also company follow the Telstra
Business Principles which is the key component of corporate governance framwork.
This framework helps to build the transparency and accountability for the long term
performance and sustainability. Moreover, the CEOs as the board is responsible for
the improvement and execution of policy and complete supervision and performance
of the company. Then the middle mangers (Controller/director) follow the rules and
policies set by CEO and control the first line mangers. Besides, they keep
Death, Dying and Other Ethical Dilemmas
Death, dying and other ethical dilemmas Anand Chatoorgoon University of Phoenix
Death, dying and other ethical dilemmas are issues that all Intensive Care Units
(ICUs) throughout the world have to face and address. In the Current Opinion in
Critical Care, Vol 16, No 6, December 2010, p. 640, Dixon Woods and Bosk, writing
on the topic of Death, dying and other ethical dilemmas under the journal s section of
Ethical, legal and organizational issues in the ICU , have stated that Recent
ethnographic work suggests that ethical dilemmas associated with end of life care in
ICU clearly persist, even if clinicians are now more open about patients chances of
surviving. An Australian study identified how decisions and actions made... Show

transfer such patients to the ICU for monitoring and cardio respiratory support.
Passive Euthanasia While active euthanasia is illegal, passive euthanasia, or allowing
a patient to die naturally, is legal everywhere. Passive euthanasia includes
withdrawing basic needs such as hydration and nutritional feeding (Fremgen, 2009, p.
304). The Ministry of Health, an arm of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, has
issued a written protocol/policy for the discontinuation of life support from patients
on whom the diagnosis of brainstem death is confirmed but, for such discontinuation,
written consent is required from the relatives. The person should be pronounced
dead, and there is no need for the permission of the surrogates to cease treatment,
although there are still questions about consent for donation (Garett, Baillie,
McGeehan and Garett, 2010, p. 253). But intensivists here in Trinidad face an
ethical dilemma because forty five percent of the population consists of people of
East Indian descent who, because of their religious and cultural background, do not
readily agree to the discontinuation of ventilator support from their loved ones who
have been pronounced brain dead. For similar reasons, they do not readily agree to
the donation of organs while the heart is still beating, a situation that has stymied the
development of transplant programs here in Trinidad and
Transformation of Judiciary System
The call by some senior members of the African National Congress for the
transformation of the Judiciary doesn t compromise judicial independence
Introduction
In the trias politica, every arm of government has equal power compared to other
arms of the government. However, to make sure that all the arms of government in
the trias politica have equal powers they must be accountable to each other. That
means they must implement the oversight to one another so that no arm of
government ends up with greater powers than others in the trias politica. A call by
ANC or any member of any political party for the transformation of the Judiciary
doesn t compromise judicial independence but implementing the oversight to the
Judiciary as it is one of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now ANC want to deploy its corrupt comrades to also corrupt the highest court in the
land, No I don t support. (Siya twitter.com/sunrise). What people or citizens have to
know is that transformation of judicial system doesn t mean the transformation of the
constitution.
If the judicial system is so independent it won t be able to represent people,
promoting and protecting South African constitutional values. It won t be able to
ensure its accountability and improving the appropriateness of the justice system and
so to make sure the access of all people to justice. The power that the Judiciary has is
much high and strong and it forbids or outlaws the executive to question its decision
with the belief that they are always on the right track and whatever decision they
make is lawful. ANC s transformation of Judiciary document doesn t have anything to
do with all these matters of corrupting the power but trying to stop the absolute
corruption by those highly in power.
The unjust of the Apartheid era constitution resulted on the apartheid constitution
being amended and drafted the new in after 1996. Now because of unjust laws of the
past has led to the transformation of the constitution to ensure democracy, it therefore
means there might be loopholes even in our new democratic constitution and when
they have been reviewed they have to be corrected. The
Fad Diets Essay
Obesity in the United States is a major issue. Because there is such a high obesity
rate, there have been so many diets established to try and reduce these constantly
rising rates. A lot of these weight loss diets that have been established are known as
fad diets. A fad diet is a diet that becomes popular quickly, and may die out just as
quickly. In the United States, there are some popular and healthy fad dietssuch as the
Atkins diet, the South Beach diet, and Weight Watchers. The Atkins diet is one of
the most popular fad diets. Carbohydrates play an important role in the Atkins diet.
This diet is based on keeping the carbohydrate level controlled, with a process
known as ketosis (Akins par. 3). Because carbohydrates are the... Show more content

It is important to manage the carbohydrate intake week to week (Atkins par. 7). The
third and fourth phases of the Atkins diet are for maintenance phases. Dieters should
avoid any foods that could possibly cause weight gain, and continue to watch the
intake of carbohydrates. The intake of carbohydrates may be increased during this
phase but still must be managed (Atkins par. 8). The Atkins diet has had some
controversies and some successes as well. This diet is a high fat diet and the
government health agencies only recommend thirty percent of fat in our diets. The
Atkins diet requires the dieter to consume much more fat than that, easily (Atkins par.
9). A success that the Atkins dieters have experienced is not only weight loss, but an
improvement in health as well (Atkins par. 10). Although this diet has been very
time consuming for dieters, it has had wondrous outcomes. The South Beach diet
is also a fad diet. This diet also consists of phases like the Atkins diet, but in this
specific diet there are only three phases rather than four. The first phase lasts a
minimum of two weeks (How par. 2). Each day the dieter must eat three well
balanced meals. A snack must also be consumed after breakfast and after lunch, and
dessert must follow dinner (How par. 3). This phase of the South Beach diet
temporarily cut out a lot of foods. The change you will make during this phase is
that you will cut out all bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, baked goods, fruit,
Sydney Carton Hero
The ideas of heroism in a Victorian sense are very different than those ideas of a
hero in Anglo Saxon literature. The most obvious hero in A Tale of Two Cities is
Sydney Carton, but he emerges very differently than Beowulf. It was never clearly
mentioned in the novel that Carton was a hero, so Dickens expected the reader to
infer that that was so. It also wasn t until book three that Carton became a truly
dynamic characterand ultimately became the herohe sought to be. Careless and
slovenly if not debauched (Dickens 55) was how Dickens described Carton s
character in book one. He is merely a man, and a flawed man at the beginning of the
novel. Carton s imperfections and impurities set the stage for his later actions that
will prove him a hero and also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Darnay is convicted, Lucie falls into a faint, and, Carton is there to assist
her, coming to her aid from the obscure corner from which he had never moved
(Dickens 260). Though Carton never received recompense, he is always prepared
to assist the Manettes. When Carton returns Lucie safely to her room, her child
cries out to him, I think you will do something to help mamma, something to save
papa ... can you, of all the people who love her, bear to see her so? As Carton
leaves, he murmurs a few significant words under his breath: A life you love
(Dickens 260). Finally, Carton sacrifices his own self to the Guillotine and
ultimately the revolution in place of Darnay, again, out of his love and
compassion for Lucie. His final thoughts are some of the most famous lines in the
entire novel, It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far,
far better rest that I go than I have ever known (Dickens 293). This was the end
destined for Sydney Carton. He has grown in courage and valor, from a drunk,
dissatisfied, and insignificant man to a hero who found his calling in sacrificing
himself for the love he would never
Praise Of Slowness
For the in Praise of Slowness exercise I decided to go to Dogwood, which is
situated across the street from the Miami Inn. Here I sat for thirty minutes
contemplating a variety of topics, including time and my management of it, my
family, my past memories, and finally new ones that I would like to create. At first,
when I arrived at Dogwood I was not fully comfortable with the assignment, or
rather the idea that I was going to spend thirty minutes reflecting statically. I have
never been the person that is best at keeping still for long periods of times, and
often I can only sit when I have a certain task to accomplish that requires both mental
and some physical effort. I have been told a multitude of times that I need to learn
how to relax,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I want those around me to know that quality comes before quantity and that things
such as mental health and stress are very important to me. I want those that work
with me to know that not only will I be a structured leader, but also that I am
supportive and want everyone to be able to slow down life enough to enjoy it. I think
that it is very important to realize that taking a break and then having the energy to
produce better work later is more effective than constantly working and putting in
less effort. This experience has taught me that I need to start slowing down my
own life more, and that being an effective leader means that you need to support
others as well as yourself. As we discussed in class, there are a multitude of
characteristics that define a good leader, but one that has always stood out to me
are those that are compassionate and supportive of those around them. I have
always believed in the phrase to lead by example and I believe that by showing
others it is okay to slow down as the Ted talk said, as well as being more supportive
in my structured style will allow those that work with me to lead a healthier more
effective life. Overall, I think that this was a very effective assignment, and I cannot
wait to be a more supportive leader to others and
History of the Battle of Shiloh
Introduction The Battle of Shiloh is historically known as one of the bloodiest
battles of the Civil War. Part of the Western Campaign, Shiloh came on the heels of
Union victories at Fort Henry and Fort Donelson, primarily as a Confederate
attempt to halt the Union s advance into the deep South. Though causes of the
Union victory at Shiloh may be disputed, the significance of this Battle to the War
s outcome is undeniable. Analysis When, Where and Why the Battle of Shiloh
Took Place The Battle of Shiloh took place on April 6 7, 1862 (Daniel, 1997, p.
319) in southern Tennessee s Hardin County, particularly at Pittsburg Landing
(Groom, 2012, p. 41). The short answer to why this Battle took place is that the
Confederacy wanted to stop the Union s advance far into Tennessee and eventually
into Mississippi by a surprise attack on Ulysses S. Grant s Army of the Tennessee
before Union Major General Don Carlos Buell s Army of the Ohio could arrive and
join Grant s forces (Groom, 2012, p. 141). The long answer to why this Battle took
place can be found in the two prior Confederate losses at Fort Henry and Fort
Donelson in February, 1862, and the consequences of those losses. The captures of
Fort Henry and Fort Donelson were the first two Union victories since the
beginning of the War on April 12, 1861 (Woodworth, 2011, p. 89). The Union
capture of Fort Henry in western Tennessee on February 6, 1862 allowed Union
forces to move 12 miles east overland to Fort Donelson
Literature Surrounding Vehicle Speed Reduction

3.1 Introduction
This chapter critically assesses literature surrounding vehicle speed reduction
techniques and shared spaces. Developing a clear understanding of background
literature provides a strong theoretical foundation, and perspective to conduct an
effective investigation with regard to how vehicle speed and presence are crucial
aspects as to whether or not a shared space is successful. Therefore, this chapter will
begin with an overview of the history and development of shared spaces followed by
vehicle speed in shared space, risk homeostasis theory, speed reduction techniques,
horizontal traffic deflections techniques, and entrances and surfaces.
3.2 The History Development of Shared Spaces
Ben Hamilton Baillie, an architect in the United Kingdom coined the term shared
space, however, the original design and concept is accredited to Hans Monderman, a
Dutch traffic engineer who invented the term Woonerf in Netherlands, 1970 (Ben
Joseph, 1995). However, there are many examples today of shared spaces throughout
Australasia, Europe, the UK and the United States.
Historic evidence states that streets has been a place of interaction, movement and
activity. When cars were firstly introduced, the road corridors were still a place to
walk, move, and play. However, in the mid twentieth century motor vehicles become
more popular, where two concepts arose to dominate road design:
The most key role of a road is to accommodate efficient movement and fast journey

Comparison Of Safety Last ! And Sherlock Jr.
Safety Last! and Sherlock Jr.
Safety Last! (1923), directed by Fred C. Newmeyer and Sam Taylor, and Sherlock
Jr. (1924), directed by Buster Keaton, have parallels not only between their genres,
but their approach to comedy. They both contain a main character with a dream of
becoming someone better. Both films being comedies, means the men must face a
few challenges and struggles before accomplishing their goals. Sight gags portray
these struggles in a very humorous way. Silent films could not depend on dialogue to
deliver all of the humorous elements, so drastically hilarious sight gags were the
films true success. Each film has talented actors who portray the roles successfully
and creatively. Neither of these films invented the idea of sight gags, but they built
upon an already successful foundation. In order to capture these fantastic stunts, the

Credit Card Crisis for students and small business owners.
In the modern era, credit card is being the efficient and secured form of payment
which is becoming a necessity for every individual rather than a choice. Especially in
United States of America, credit card is being considered as an essential part of life.
Since the introduction of Credit cards back in 1920s, the payment system has been
revolutionized and there has been a major transformation in the American economy.
However, the excessive use of the credit card has resulted in a crisis which is
affecting not only the individuals but whole of the country s economy.... Show more

Further, credit card allows an individual to borrow someone else s i.e. Credit Card
issuer s money to make payments. The scheme of the credit card is that the
consumer making the purchase through credit card is actually borrowing money
from the Card issuer instead of using his own money from his bank account, while
the money borrowed can be considered a type of loan. Credit card issuer allows you
to pay back the money wholly or partially. After each month, the consumer receives
the bill from the Credit Card issuance company which comprises of list of
purchases made by the individual, the minimum payment due, the total amount and
any other fees if added by the Issuer. However, the issue arises when the consumers
/individuals choose to make the partial payment of their dues i.e. the minimum
payment due on the credit card, the Issuer will start charging interest on the
remaining balance and the individual in such condition will had to struggle hard in
order to clear all the outstanding dues. For example, if a consumer receive a total
bill of $500 and opt to pay the bill in a span of one year while being charged 18
percent interest, at the end when consumer will clear the total amount he ll be paying
almost an extra $100 to the issuer as an interest. (Jennifer Barrett, 2009)
Cultural Identity And Ethnic Identity
The models of cultural identity share most of the same mutual characteristic but the
experiences each individual endure in life will have the individual thinking about
their belief. The cultural identity is the individuality or feeling of belonging. When
thinking about a Native American understanding the racial and ethnic identity of an
individual is important part of that individual. Racial and ethnic identity is a
contribution to complete understanding the Native American. For some mainly
noticeable and officially clear in minority populations in the United States, racial and
ethnic identity are established in very sensible way. The ways in which racial and
ethnic is establish is shown in the social and cultural motivations. At the beginning
each individual adapt their cultural traditions and values through religious and
educational communities inspires a positive sense of ethnic identity and confidence.
Individual s needs to often refine ethnic identity through negative behavior and media
communications acknowledged from others because of their raceand ethnicity. Some
of the communications is made clear that people of minority position have a different
ethnic development and one that is less than appropriate within normal society.
Native Americans, ethnic and racial identity is mostly unconscious especially
through their behaviors, values, beliefs, and assumptions. There are models and
theories of racial and ethnic identity that has developed quickly due
Leadership Influences And Definition Of Leadership
Leadership Influences and Definition of Leadership Without our people, we would
have empty offices, useless aircraft, and vessels tied to piers. Without leadership,
we would have people without purpose people with no direction or mission to
perform. Up until I was at my third unit, had nearly ten years in the Coast Guard,
and had been a First Class Boatswain s Mate for almost six years, I cannot recall
being subject to any positive leadershipexperiences. The units and operational
community that I served in for my first two tours were comprised of members with
a very self centered mentality. It always seemed as though the senior members
were trying to bring others down in hopes of making themselves look better, and
junior members were forced to fight for table scraps like wild dogs. I was raised in
this environment, from E2 to E6, where policy was not referenced, and things
were done a certain way Because that s how they have been done in the past . We
usually did things for one of two reasons: because we had no choice or for personal
benefit. Those at the unit with positional power did not look out for their people;
they were too worried about their own agendas. We followed them because we had
to, not because we wanted to. Leadership is the art of gathering followers, giving
them a purpose, and developing them into someone that others will in turn want to
follow. I did not begin to witness this phenomenon until it was nearly too late. My
first taste was during my tour

The Geological Impact of Nuclear Testing at the Nevada Test Site
The Nevada Test Site is an area designated by the United States Government for
Nuclear Weapons testing. It is located in rural southern Nevada and is about the size
of the State of Rhode Island. This location was founded in 1952 as one of 5 on land
sites designated for this task. Above ground nuclear or atmospheric testing was
conducted at the Nevada TestSite until 1958. There was a break in testing until the
United States decided to begin underground testing in 1962. There were a total of
828 nuclear tests performed underground during these years. In 1963 a limited
Nuclear Test Ban Treaty was signed by the United States that limited above ground
tests world wide. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are both arid environments which makes it easier to reduce the amount of
water runoff. The Nevada Test Site is built on top of a chain of several volcanic and
seismically active locations. Even with these potentially dangerous conditions the
Atomic Energy Commission gave it the go ahead in 1952.
During the years of above ground or atmospheric testing 119 tests were conducted.
The majority of these tests were conducted using helium balloons, and tethered
systems. There were also a few crater tests conducted during this time, these were
conducted by submerging a small nuclear weapon just below the ground surface.
When testing resumed in 1962 the majority of tests were conducted deep
underground, although a few crater tests were still conducted, atmosphere testing
was banned in 1963. Since then all of the testing was performed underground though
this purposed different risks of nuclear contamination it was still found to be over all
safer then the above ground testing. Many tests were conducted to tests response

the add on modules and other applications at a small cost and small size will create
competition in the market. However the cell phone market alone has consumers in

The data for this study on school mobility and math achievement came from the
Chicago School Readiness Program (1728). Random kids were put into Head Start
programs that had teacher trainings and mental health advisers (1728). Chicago was
a smart choice to study since that city has increased poverty compared to other big
cities. Throughout the study, there were various sources that were used to collect
different aspects of the effects of school mobility. A main source was the
standardized achievements tests that were given before entrance into the Head Start
program and once they finished. Cognitive dysregulation was also accounted for by
the teachers using a written questionnaire (1729). To gauge the math achievement
that the children in the program had been working toward, a test known as the ISAT,
was given around their fifth year when a majority of the participates were in fourth
grade (1729). This specific test allowed the researches to gain access to the progress
or failure in math that the students were projecting. The cognitive dysregulation was
accounted for in their fourth year by using the Barrett Impulsive Scale and the

The True Villain in The Tragedy of Macbeth
In the play, The Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare, there was a hero,
named Macbeth, however he becomes a villain because of his wife, Lady Macbeth.
Macbeth receives three prophecies about himself and finds out that he will become
king. Greedy for the status and power Macbeth thinks about killing Duncan, but he
does not go through with it until Lady Macbeth convinces him to do it. After Lady
Macbeth told Macbeth to murder Duncan, she comes up with a plan so that no one
would find out it was them that killed Duncan. Macbeth killed Duncan and
continued doing evil deeds after that. There were several villains in the play, the
three witches, Macbeth, and Lady Macbeth, however the one that is the cause for
the downfall of Scotland is Lady Macbeth. In the play, Lady Macbeth is the person
responsible for the downfall of Scotland, and she is the reason Macbeth commits all

to give Macbeth the throne. Lady Macbeth saw this and jumped in and said, Think

Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl Summary
Reader it is not to awaken sympathy for myself that I am telling you truthfully what
I suffered. During the time of the slavery movement, the primary goal for writing
slave stories such as, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and Property was to gain
some sort of sympathy within the white community and gain support to stop slavery.
As both of these narratives are written from the female perspective, the two stories
show the harsh reality and the ironic nature of sexual exploitation through language
and imagery. The two narratives revolve around many literary elements to help shape
the story along with similar story patterns that took place during the particular time
period. Within Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, the narrative is often interrupted
by the social and political aspects that occur and Property really focuses on the
personal relationships that go on between the slave owners and their slaves, in
particular the relationship between man and women and woman to woman. Each
literary element touches upon the topic of sexual exploitation. As the two cases of
how the narrators or characters experience sexual exploitation are different, the term
is still applicable. Within this essay I will shape the discussion around these four
literary elements: Foreshadowing, metaphor, irony and... Show more content on

The South is known to be the land of Christianity and rights. However, though the
Christian s attended church and prayed, they by no means treated their slaves with a
Christian attitude. This is very evident within Harriet Jacob s narrative as she speaks
of the mistreatment by the hypocritical Christians. In chapter 13, Linda exposes the
hypocrisy of the Christian church and how the slaves are expected to be obedient to
their masters according to the flesh . This concept seems a bit out of place as

The Wild By Jon Krakauer
Psychology serves a Role Kids who have been a victim of maltreatment are often
times hindered in development as the rest of their life plays out. No matter the
starting age, a family neglect can create in kids an odd and unpleasant feeling. The
constant exposure to depressors and bring me downs that effected kids see really
puts them into a terrible cycle. Some cases of maltreatment lead to extraordinary
stories and even more impressive characters. In Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer, we
can observe that Chris McCandless fell into this vicious cycle, and was effected by it
throughout his adventurous life. Some of McCandless experiences later in life can
be directly correlated with his childhood difficulties. But, in order of make sense...

The way kids are raised by their parents effects their decision making and their
values, beliefs and self image until the day they die. If a kid grows up figuring
things out herself or is neglected etc., that kid is forced to do what is necessary to
develop as fully as possible. Hamama and Arazi describe family relationships as
being crucial in the development of the child. The article specifies that two direct
ways that kids are hurt is through family cohesion and subjective well being. Family
cohesion, in this article, is defined as the connections between family members that
each family has, while subjective well being talks about people s understanding of
the life they live and how they react to everyday situations and how all that effects
their emotional and cognitive mind. These two factors have shown to be directly
correlated to children acting aggressively or unpleasant, according to Hamama and
Arazi. Children s aggression behavior includes three parts, according to Hamama and
Arazi. 1. A cognitive dimension hostility;2.an emotional dimension anger; and 3. A
behavioral dimension physical and verbal violence is how they defined aggressive
behavior. Those two factors are largely what influences children and their
development, in Hamama and Arazi s eyes(Hamama and Arazi). This article lays a
great foundation for the explanation of Into the Wild. Into the Wild is the non fiction
story of how Chris McCandless, a normal guy in his later
Both Sides of Legalizing Marijuana
As many of us know, marijuana has been legalized in Washington and Colorado for
recreational use. According to polls and predictions, Oregon may be one of the up
and coming states to legalize it next. But here comes to question, Should marijuana
be legalized? Why or why not? There are many pros and cons to this situation, and
they all affect not just our state but our country as a whole. That is exactly why I
chose this topic. Since middle school, there has been talk about whether marijuana
should be legalized or not. What good or harm will that do? There are two very
different sides to this, but both of which make much sense. Now that some states
have legalized marijuana, I am interested in seeing what people think about it now.
Have things changed or do they remain the same? How has this change affected us
both positively and negatively? It s situations like these that will affect my
generation and those to come. That is why it is important to soak in all of the
knowledge you can, instead of staying ignorant to these issues. Marijuana is illegal
in most cities in our country because of the effect it has on the human body. When
marijuana is inhaled, THC is released into our bloodstream, brain, and organs. THC
levels affect parts in the brain that focus on pleasure, memory, thinking, and
coordination. Due to this, marijuana can cause long term damage to one s brain. Or
at least that s what they want us to believe. There are no real cases where someone
has suffered severe
An Analytical Comparison Of Men s And Women s
Literature
An Analytical Comparison of Men s and Women s Literature in Enlightenment Era
Britain Suppression of thought and action has always been a method for one people
to govern over another. When we think of suppression we typically think of slavery;
the physical governance of one group over another. However, throughout history,
other forms of suppression have dominated cultures, such as that of inequality. An
example of this in today s world would be the job market for women. Though it has
undoubtedly improved through the years, a man with equal credentials to that of a
womantends to obtain a job much more easily. This is a form of suppression through
inequality by men upon women. If a woman cannot obtain a high paying job equal or
better to that of a man, she may need to be dependent on a man for financial means.
Britain women during the beginning years of the Enlightenment period experienced
suppression of their education. Literature of the 17th and 18th centuries in Britain
was characterized by raillery of both men towards women and, increasingly, women
towards men fighting the educational suppression and inequality that would lead to
modern feminism. Like all major movements, such as the civil rights movement of
the 1960s, Feminism had its birth somewhere. Feminism began with women authors
such as Mary Astell, Margaret Cavendish, Aphra Behn, and Mary Leapor (Sherman
2125). For one to understand why this movement began, one must understand the
cultural context of the time

Abstract
In this paper, an artificial food dye will be made to mimic the color of Full
Throttle. To determine what food dye are needed, Full Throttle will be put through
a spectrometer to determine what wavelengths are absorbed. Specific wavelengths
absorbed will correspond to specific colors absorbed. It was determined that yellow 5
and yellow 6 will be used to make our artificial food dye to mimic Full Throttle.
Using Beer s Law, it was determined that a concentration of 0.0000236 moles of
Yellow 5 and a concentration of 0.0001494 moles of yellow 6. Using our line of best
fit from the absorption graphs, it was determined ... Show more content on

When making the absorption graphs for the yellow 5 and yellow 6, the lines of best
fit were giving numbers that were extremely small. After help from the TA, it was
found that our concentrations used where twice as small of a concentration compared
to what was actually used for Full Throttle. To correct this the molarity s were
multiplied by ВЅ. For example when finding the x value in our equation
y=2.044x+0.2067 the answer is x = 7.28 5 moles. To correct this, that number is
multiplied by 0.5 to get the correct value of 3.64*10^ 5. This new number is what
was used in the equation c1v1=c2v2. After the solution was made to mimic Full
Throttle it was discovered that the beverage only had one food dye. The
experiment was intended to have a beverage with two food dyes present. To make
up for this, orange PowerAde was used and the experiment was repeated for orange
PowerAde. The solution was made for the orange PowerAde and its absorption
graph was compared to that of the diluted orange PowerAde solution. Comparing
the two graphs, have the same peaks although these peaks are at different
absorption levels. Since the two graphs have the same peaks it is safe to assume
that the same food dyes are present in both solutions. It is important to note that
there are two peaks in each graph despite only seeing one peak. This is because both
peaks are located so close to each other that they merge as one overall peak. When
comparing the two

My Father Essay
Our world is filled with so many different types of people. As life goes on, people
come and go just like you pass cars on the highway. Some grow old while others die
young. I have met so many incredible and unbelievable people over the years.
However, there is one person who stood out to me above others, my father. He was
someone like no other person could be. My father helped me through everything.
It is very heart breaking to say I no longer can go to him for anything, but I know
he is watching me from above. I would do anything to be able to talk to him again.
My father impacted my life tremendously like no other person has before. In the
beginning, my father was a man who worked his whole entire life, even up to a
week before he passed away. He was very determined, smart, and indescribable. He
was someone who would take his own life for someone else and helped everyone
he met. All of the memories I have made with my father is significant to me. I have
cherished each and every one, whether it was good or bad. Losing someone is hard
and your life completely changes. Strengthening my faith in God has helped me
the most through this tough time. No one said life was going to be easy, but the
bumps in life lead you to become a stronger person. Since my father has passed away,
he has made me change the way I look at life. Never take anything for granted and
always try your very best. If you set your mind to something, you will become
successful. When I was a few weeks old,

Both Jane Addams and Saul Alinsky, worked to enact social change within the poor

changes due to their methodologies and accomplishments. However, Addams and

This falls back to Alinsky s do anything to win mentality and win he did. The BYNC

within the community. Alinsky had again proved the effectiveness of his methods
(Hamington, 2010). Addams and Alinsky appear to have very different organizing
philosophies. Alinsky himself often commented how his methods were so different
than those of the settlement houses. These comments however, should have been
more directed at what the settlement houses had become and not at the originating
principles of Jane Addams Hull House. Jane Addams herself would likely disapprove
of the direction that the settlement houses had moved towards. Addams and Alinsky
both recognized the importance of listening and learning the needs of the community
in order to gain perspective. Addams recognized that when existing social institutions
do not provide a reasonable means for citizen participation, those citizens will
organize to resist... Similarly, Alinsky viewed his organizations as fully democratic

for real, attainable objectives (Hamington, 2010). The connections between the
philosophies of Addams and Alinsky are inextricably linked. The resonance between
the social philosophies of Addams and Alinsky is not surprising if the Chicago School
connection is taken into account. Addams and Hull House helped

Dad, you are not an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding
light whose love shows us the way (Jane Lindsay). Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is a
piece of literature that explores the pent up resentment in a maternal like relationship
between a shamefaced creator, Victor Frankensteinand his neglected creation, the
monster . The central plot and main characters revolve around the taboo theme of
desertion and shame. Characteristic behaviors and emotions found in the story reflect
back to Mary s own inner dark struggles and memorable life moments, in the sense
that they are coordinated in a haunting family like dynamic. Uncoincidentally both
the author and multiple written characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In March 1815 Mary gave birth to a premature baby girl, who after twelve days
passed away in slumber. As expected Mary was very upset but she also felt terrible
guilt over her newborn s death. Dreamt that my little baby came to life again; that
it had only been cold, and that we rubbed it before the fire, and it lived. Awake and
find no baby. I think about the little thing all day. Not in good spirits (Mary Shelley
s Baby Comes Back to Life). The quote shows Mary in her dream putting herself in a
superhero like position in the sense of being able to revive her deceased baby, when
later as she awakens she is forced to face a cold reality of being powerless. This
serves as evidence of her feeling as though there was something she could have done
to save the life of her child. During this time and when she is completing her novel
Frankenstein she still has her young son, William by her side. Blue eyes gets
dearer and sweeter every day he jumps about like a little squirrel (Bennett 144). The
quote goes into deep details to express how much she adored and admired her young
child, thus being a major shift from her previous

Analysis of the Political and Social Consequences for Iran of the 1979 Revolution
When Ayatollah Khomeini ousted Mohammed Reza Shah and ended the Pahlavi
dynasty in the revolution of 1979 many political and social consequences took place.
These consequences were due to vital decisions made by him but also due to
repercussions of the revolution itself. With Iran being dominated predominantly by
monarchies for the past several decades with the most recent being the Pahlavi
dynasty the public had been through an era of radical yet superficial modernisation
and westernisation . Khomeini entered his rule with an extremist Islamic rule that
was non existent under the previous Shahs and this was bound ... Show more content

With a country backed by a 99% Shi ite population he moved the country in the
direction of a theocracy. This is one of the major political consequences of the 79
revolution and it meant that over time Khomeini was able to abolish the Shahs
regime, eradicating many of the top members of his regime, and create an Islamic
Republic Party in 1979, and eventually make this the state party. The Ayatollah had to
deal with foreign influence within the country. The Shah had welcomed western
influence into the country but Khomeini disliked this dependence and his revolution
ended up in a bitter quarrel with western powers such as the US and Britain. The
quarrel rose to new levels when members of the Iranian public took American
embassy workers hostage and were not released until 1980. The consequence was a
ruined diplomatic tie with the Carter government and western powers alike.
The Ayatollah destroyed the good relations with the west but he also made himself
unpopular with various other Arab states. Anwar Sadat who believed that the west
was the way to move on was opposed to the Ayatollah s view of a completely
isolated Islamic republic. Sadat even accepted Mohammed Pahlavi as an exile but
he was forced to leave because of his health. Khomeini s views were popular to the
people especially the poverty stricken rural community of Iran but not to other leaders
in the region.

Great Depression Canada
The Great Depression was a major hit to Canada. It had started in the United Stated
in 1929 but quickly escalated into Canada. The Great Depression did occur after
WW1 and the gross domestic product had dropped 40%, and unemployment had
reached 27 30% in 1933. A ton of companies had closed, because corporate profits
which were $398 million turned into losses of $98 million as prices fell. Farmers
weren t that great during the depression ad the collapse of wheat prices occurred.
By the year 1930 305 of labour force was fired and one fifth of the population
became dependent on the government for assistance, for the people who still had
jobs wages fell along with prices. During the impact of the great depressionCanada s

Cell phones have been taboo until recently. A cell phone can be turned into a tool:
calculator, organizer, or even a video recorder. Students with disabilities can have
access to tools that aid in learning. Students with attention disorders can stay
organized as well as develop higher level thinking skills for all students. One
program I have used with my students is voice recorder. This is a great tool that
allows students to record class lectures or create their own recordings for
assignments. My daughter used this program to submit her choir finals. The final
recording is shared with her teacher. This is a great way to utilize cell phones.

Ancient Rome And Ancient China
Ancient Rome and Ancient China were two different civilizations with very
different yet very similar ways of life. Culture, religion, and more importantly,
politics, helped make life the way it was for those who lived in ancient rome and
ancient china. Politics were what made everything function, just as it does today.
Politics is what was responsible for the wars that took place between civilizations,
and why dynasty s fell and why new ones rose right after. Politics were the backbone
holding up each civilization. Due to Chinaand Ancient Rome rising during separate

as death from robbery. In China unlike rome, the women weren t treated that well.
A law for women was, If a girl insulted her parents he would be strangled. Some
other punishments in the law were very intense, such as burning the cheeks of

Ancient Rome the laws were under The Twelve Tables. The laws included in The

meant that the punishment for the crime was supposed to be equal to itself. Some

would bribe many people with a citizenship in exchange for their loyalty for the ruler

Comparing Disney And Pixar
Since this was your only feature film with Disney, how did that come about?
You usually don t get to get too close to Disney and Pixar like that unless you re a
celebrity or you re somebody on the inside or you know somebody. A lot of the
journeyman work is done with a loop group, and they pick up different characters.
Friends of mine do that, and they do great.
The role came to me through my agent. It was Project X of course. And it was a
paragraph. It was an old time radio announcer, and I do all those from different
decades. I m a big fan of those old radio shows. So I just sent it in and forgot all
about it. And a few weeks later, the agent calls, Haaay! That s her voice when she s
happy. So they flew me up to PIXAR, and I recorded up there and did a session
here at Warner Bros. with Pete Docter and the crew on the line as well. And even
then, it wasn t guaranteed that I was gonna make the cut cause it s PIXAR. Then
we found out not too long before the opening that in fact I was a big part of the
beginning of the film, and I was invited to the Hollywood premiere. {laughs}
Welcome to Hollywood! That was really cool. Jon Voightsat right behind me in the

CHAPTER 1: What Do School Teachers and Sumo Wrestlers Have in Common?
1. In Freakonomics, Levitt and Dubner built the book on the foundation of
incentives. Incentives are described as a means of motivation that kick people to
do more good or less bad in their daily lives. As the entire book hits the different
types of incentives, economic, moral, and social, chapter one is the chapter that
mainly focuses on economic incentives. Levitt and Dubner describes economic
incentives by stating, The chance of going to jail thereby losing your job, your
house, and your freedom, all of which are essentially economic penalties is certainly a

In this chapter, Levitt Dubner begin with mentioning a scholar by the name of
Sudhir Venkatesh who examined the crack culture of a specific group in Chicago
named the Black Gangster Disciple Nation. That particular group was run and
financed by the leader named J.T. He was well educated and smart when it came to
his business. Freakonomics mentions the comparison between J.T., his Black
Disciples, and the MacDonald s franchise! The book states, In other words, a crack
gang works pretty much like the standard capitalist enterprise: you have to be near
the top of the pyramid to make a big wage (Levitt Dubner 100). J.T, being the head
leader of the gang, obviously was the one taking home the big bucks, while the
Black Disciples also took home well more than half the money (Levitt Dubner
100). However, J.T s foot soldiers maintained minimum wage jobs, similar to lower
employees at MacDonald s. In the American business world, employees commonly
begin their career at the bottom of the hierarchy pyramid: waitresses, dishwashers,
janitors, etc. They have hopes for reaching the top of the pyramid as managers or
maybe even CEO s. Just like in the business world, drug dealers begin at the
bottom and pray to succeed all the way to the top, where they are paid double,
triple, or even quadruple what they made before! Levitt Dubner use this great
example of the hierarchy ladder, Well, for the same reason that a pretty Wisconsin

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Removable
Partial...
A removable partial denture is a component of prosthodontics that acts as an artificial
restoration replacing one or more missing teeth (but not all the teeth) and their
supporting structures. The main objective of removable partial dentures is the
reconstruction of the proper oral function including mastication, esthetics, speech and
patients comfort. Other objectives include maintenance of health of the teeth and oral
structures (as the alveolar bone) and to get rid of any oral diseases. Advantages of a
removable partial dentureinclude providing support to teeth having periodontal
diseases and collapsed structures as cheeks and lips. In Addition, it maintains the
vertical dimension of teeth thus preventing TMJ problems. Moreover, it prevents
over eruption, tooth drifting and alteration of the remaining teeth. Added to that, it
achieves better oral hygieneby preventing food stagnation in the empty space of lost
teeth and can be easily adjusted and repaired. Also, it is cheaper and requires fewer
procedures intra orally than fixed partial dentures. On the other hand, some of the
drawbacks of a removable partial denture involve poor oral hygiene if not properly
cleaned, affecting the remaining teeth negatively and limiting the oral comfort... Show

Alexander John Greenslade, Stepney, London, 1885. I was born to Lord John
Greenslade and Lady Mary Capelle. In my early years, me and my kin took
residency in Millbank road; walking distance from both the Palace of Westminster
and Buckingham Palace.
We lived in a white bricked mansion: five stories tall; a small porters lodge just
outside the front door; white and gold incrusted foyer centred around a carpeted
marble staircase, a glittering chandelier hanging from The Creation of Adam on the
ceiling. The lower few floors there were full with an extensively lavish state dining
room, drawing rooms, art galleries, studies and libraries, all challenging the opulence
of even Queen Victoria s palaces. On the top floor, private apartments were... Show

A young mother and son, both dirty and worn, walked down the depressed street. As
our carriage wheeled by, the boy and I managed to look at each other directly in the
eyes. Just from the bloodshot brown eyes, I saw the worry of a hundred grown men
thrown onto his shoulders.
Why is everything here so awful? I asked my father. Both my parents faced me, their
heads held high.
These people are not like us; they come of unfortunate bloodlines. Born into a poor
family, and will stay that way until they die. They said, splitting up the sentences.
That s sad,
Listen; they are none of your concern. They live their lives, and we live ours. My

Enough of this somber talk, we are nearly at Hyde Park. Father chimed in.
We made our way out of the slums, returning to the vicinity of the palace. The horses

erected by the river running through the park. Millions of 10 by 50 inch glass panes,
all held together by iron reinforcements; reaching 170 feet high. Thousands of people
surrounded the palace s fountains and parks.
The carriage slowed to a halt outside of the transparent doors. The family strode into
the emporium. An explosion of colour and noise

Abstract
The United States has one of the strongest economies in the world. Even in light of
recent events such as the economic collapse and recession, the U.S. reported a
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of $47,200 per capita in 2010 (estimated). The U.S.
has maintained its status as the largest and most technological country due to its
market based economy (CIA The World Fact Book). However, while the U.S. has
reported such high numbers in GDP, we rank third in povertywith a 17% poverty rate.

According to the National Institute of Health, in 2011 823 million was spent in
research dollars on obesity. However, only 15 million was spent on
homelessness(Estimate of Funding of Various Research, Condition, and Disease
Categories; National Institute of Health) , and data from the Department of Health
and Human Services showed that in 2011 2.4 million was awarded to research
poverty (Poverty Research Center FY 2011 Announcement of Award, Department of
Health and Human Services). Somewhere there is a major disconnect in this country
when how much a person weighs is more important than if they have a job or
adequate shelter.
The issue of have and the have nots has existed ever since man has walked the
earth. Throughout history there is proof that people have always lived in some form
of poverty whether it be as serfs, slaves, or immigrants to the U.S. living in ethnic
ghettos. The number of people living in this country has risen sharply since WWII,
and unless the cause, and treatment for the disease is seriously studied, it will
continue to be the cancer of our nation.

THE FINAL STRAW Now lets look at the year 2020. Technology has improved
drastically. Self driving cars are no longer a thing of the future. They had been
around for a few years and were now becoming more readily available. People had
nearly anything they could ever desire at the touch of a screen. The internet was an
enormous benefit to society for knowledge but also contributed to such horrendous
downfall. Everything was touch screen. Food was not what it appeared to be. They
often contained more chemicals than actual foods. Our bodies were eroding from the
inside out. All of the chemicals that we had been ingesting over the last seventy
years began to cause physical harm to our digestive systems. We had to be proscribed

It is our social responsibility to teach future generations about the past in hope that
they will learn from our mistakes. We must do everything in our power to restore
the planet. Pick up pollutants in the water ways, recycle what materials we can. To
move on, we need to find a use for all of the abandoned vehicles and homes.
Rehabilitate communities to make them livable shelters again. HISTORICAL
PERSPECTIVE Our ancestors did not have the tools that we still possess. They
made it this far, so can we. It may require going back to more primitive methods
such as hunting and trapping for food while our crops grow but we will thrive
again. We may have to live off of the land rather than all of the luxury we have had
for the past thousand years. This is not the end. We will adapt. DIVERSITY This
change will bring more diversity as we begin to rebuild. There is no longer social
class dividing people. Everyone lost it all. The education that we had prior to the
end of society as we knew us carried us thorough the tough times. We were able to
work together and break the walls of diversity. This event truly showed us the
importance of working together and breaking previous social

Essays On The Hobbit

  • 1. Essays On The Hobbit Writing an essay on "Essays On The Hobbit" can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies not only in crafting a coherent and well-structured piece but also in delving deep into the themes, characters, and nuances of J.R.R. Tolkien's masterpiece. The Hobbit, with its rich narrative and intricate world-building, offers a plethora of topics to explore, making it both fascinating and daunting for the essay writer. To begin with, one must navigate the extensive lore of Middle-earth, understanding the unique races, cultures, and histories that contribute to the narrative. Analyzing the protagonist, Bilbo Baggins, requires a keen insight into his character development, motivations, and the transformative journey he undertakes. The themes of heroism, friendship, and the battle between good and evil are prevalent, demanding a nuanced discussion that goes beyond surface-level analysis. Moreover, addressing the impact of The Hobbit on the fantasy genre and its enduring popularity adds another layer of complexity. It involves examining Tolkien's writing style, the cultural context of the time, and the lasting influence on subsequent literature. Crafting a compelling essay on this topic also requires striking a balance between personal interpretation and academic rigor. It necessitates a deep engagement with the source material, critical thinking, and the ability to express one's ideas coherently. In conclusion, while writing an essay on "Essays On The Hobbit" poses its challenges, it is an opportunity for intellectual growth and exploration. The intricate world of Middle-earth, coupled with the profound themes woven into the narrative, offers a rich tapestry for analysis. The difficulty lies in doing justice to this complexity, but the reward is in unraveling the layers of meaning within Tolkien's masterpiece. • 2. Taking a Look at Radar Systems Table of Contents п‚ћIntroduction п‚ћBasic Concept of how it works п‚ћClassification of radar п‚ћThings used in radar п‚ћFrequency range п‚ћDifferent ranges and uses п‚ћSTAP Algorithm п‚ћHPC System п‚ћParallel Algorithm п‚ћReferences пЃ¶Introduction The STAP s theory was published by Lawrence E. Brennan and Irving S. Reed in the early 1970s. Space time adaptive processing (STAP) is a signal processing technique which is most commonly used by radar systems. Radar signal processing benefits from STAP in areas where interference is a problem (i.e. Ground clutter, jamming, etc.). It is very easy to find the target using this method. STAP uses a two dimensional filtering technique using a phased array antenna with multiple spatial channels. To implement STAP an antenna array is used, over a several pulse repetition intervals. The output of this is a linear combination or weighted sum of the input signal. Basic Concept of how it works Here the signal is broadcasted all over. When it detects the object signal is sent back to the antenna and this way the object is detected. It is same as the person speaks some words in well and echo comes back with the same words. This way signal come back with some information about the object. RADAR CLASSIFICATIONS 1. Classification based on specific functions Primary Radar: High frequency signals are transmitted toward the targets. The transmitted signal is reflected by the target and then received by the same radar.
  • 3. Analysis Of The Poem I Hell And Back Audie Murphy, one of the most well recognized and most decorated soldiers of the United States Army of World War II, participated in two battles which earned him respect and awards. The first, his efforts in taking Yellow Beach of southern France, earned him the Distinguished Service Cross. The second, in a battle outside of Holtzwihr, France, earned him the Medal of Honor. Not only are these events well documented for official records, they appear in his autobiography To Hell and Back, ghostwritten by David Spec McClure with Murphy providing details, along with various sources which include family scrapbooks, the accounts of soldiers who served with Murphy which they gave for his medal citations, and a recently published History of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This account, so far, squares with an account by Staff Sergeant Norman Hollen, also of Company B. Not mentioned in Hollen s account was Murphy s killing of two Germans who he stumbled across before finding the light machine gun, a fact which both Smith s and Graham s accounts mention . The accounts do seem to differ in that Murphy describes machine gun fire being responsible for Tipton s death while Hollen suggests it was a sniper . Graham supports Murphy s assertion of machine gun fire being the cause of Tipton s death, as he places the blame not on a sniper in the house, but on the machine gun nest which Murphy storms . Meanwhile, David Smith, writer of The Price of Valor, sides with Hollen, claiming a single sniper shot was responsible for Tipton s death. Two schools of thought appeared in the literature about what occurred and there seems no way of reconciling them. However, Smith claims that Murphy said that it was a sniper, not a machine gun, contradicting the narrative of To Hell and Back. Murphy s and Graham s accounts seem to show that he did not use his carbine, while Hollen and Smith both claim that Murphy killed the two Germans who had approached with the flag of surrender with his carbine. Murphy, Smith, and Graham all agree that Murphy carried a German machine gun which he had captured like a BAR and fired it from the hip as he proceeded up the hill. This detail wasn t mentioned by Hollen, who
  • 4. History 302 Reflection Theory and history I always thought never go together and when it was required for me to take History 302 I was very confused why it was a theory class. At the start and throughout the class it was a struggle to keep up what it meant to look at history through a Marxist, cultural, or social lens and how that had anything to do with theory. The class was a struggle but not impossible as each article or monograph that were given out for readings provided insight of what these lens were meant to do. Even though I have taken upper division classes at CSULA and studied historiography, history302 provided me with a new perspective on how history progressed through time. This course brought me a variety of different viewpoints that I did not see... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marxist lens allowed me to change my grand narrative view of history and be able to see the struggle between two parties and how that was rooted in many monographs and lectures. When we were discussing about Marxist and Marxism I connected more closely with that than the other lens that was taught later in the year. I always saw the struggle between two parties as the root in every history and monographs but always assumed that it was how history was researched and taught. It slightly changed my perspective as I now know that my lens was not grand narrative but more of a Marxist. This allowed my progression as a history student to be able to look at monographs and be able to figure out the viewpoint the historian is trying to establish to the readers. I had the most difficult time with Foucault and his social theory as it was hard to separate what I believed was economic when it was social. Eric Avila and his cultural theory was a bit easier for me as I felt more comfortable with cultural theory compared to social theory. This class provided me with different monographs based on each theory that has strengthened my skills with writing and critical analyze of historical

  • 6. Death, Dying and Other Ethical Dilemmas Death, dying and other ethical dilemmas Anand Chatoorgoon University of Phoenix Death, dying and other ethical dilemmas are issues that all Intensive Care Units (ICUs) throughout the world have to face and address. In the Current Opinion in Critical Care, Vol 16, No 6, December 2010, p. 640, Dixon Woods and Bosk, writing on the topic of Death, dying and other ethical dilemmas under the journal s section of Ethical, legal and organizational issues in the ICU , have stated that Recent ethnographic work suggests that ethical dilemmas associated with end of life care in ICU clearly persist, even if clinicians are now more open about patients chances of surviving. Frequently therefore, here in Trinidad, the ICU personnel have no choice but to transfer such patients to the ICU for monitoring and cardio respiratory support. Passive Euthanasia While active euthanasia is illegal, passive euthanasia, or allowing a patient to die naturally, is legal everywhere. Passive euthanasia includes withdrawing basic needs such as hydration and nutritional feeding (Fremgen, 2009, p. 304). The Ministry of Health, an arm of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, has issued a written protocol/policy for the discontinuation of life support from patients on whom the diagnosis of brainstem death is confirmed but, for such discontinuation, written consent is required from the relatives. The person should be pronounced dead, and there is no need for the permission of the surrogates to cease treatment, although there are still questions about consent for donation (Garett, Baillie, McGeehan and Garett, 2010, p. 253). But intensivists here in Trinidad face an ethical dilemma because forty five percent of the population consists of people of East Indian descent who, because of their religious and cultural background, do not readily agree to the discontinuation of ventilator support from their loved ones who have been pronounced brain dead. For similar reasons, they do not readily agree to the donation of organs while the heart is still beating, a situation that has stymied the development of transplant programs here in Trinidad and
  • 7. Transformation of Judiciary System The call by some senior members of the African National Congress for the transformation of the Judiciary doesn t compromise judicial independence Introduction In the trias politica, every arm of government has equal power compared to other arms of the government. However, to make sure that all the arms of government in the trias politica have equal powers they must be accountable to each other. That means they must implement the oversight to one another so that no arm of government ends up with greater powers than others in the trias politica. A call by ANC or any member of any political party for the transformation of the Judiciary doesn t compromise judicial independence but implementing the oversight to the Judiciary as it is one of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now ANC want to deploy its corrupt comrades to also corrupt the highest court in the land, No I don t support. (Siya twitter.com/sunrise). What people or citizens have to know is that transformation of judicial system doesn t mean the transformation of the constitution. If the judicial system is so independent it won t be able to represent people, promoting and protecting South African constitutional values. It won t be able to ensure its accountability and improving the appropriateness of the justice system and so to make sure the access of all people to justice. The power that the Judiciary has is much high and strong and it forbids or outlaws the executive to question its decision with the belief that they are always on the right track and whatever decision they make is lawful. ANC s transformation of Judiciary document doesn t have anything to do with all these matters of corrupting the power but trying to stop the absolute corruption by those highly in power. The unjust of the Apartheid era constitution resulted on the apartheid constitution being amended and drafted the new in after 1996. Now because of unjust laws of the past has led to the transformation of the constitution to ensure democracy, it therefore means there might be loopholes even in our new democratic constitution and when they have been reviewed they have to be corrected. • 8. Fad Diets Essay Obesity in the United States is a major issue. Because there is such a high obesity rate, there have been so many diets established to try and reduce these constantly rising rates. A lot of these weight loss diets that have been established are known as fad diets. A fad diet is a diet that becomes popular quickly, and may die out just as quickly. In the United States, there are some popular and healthy fad dietssuch as the Atkins diet, the South Beach diet, and Weight Watchers. The Atkins diet is one of the most popular fad diets. Carbohydrates play an important role in the Atkins diet. This diet is based on keeping the carbohydrate level controlled, with a process known as ketosis (Akins par. 3). Because carbohydrates are the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important to manage the carbohydrate intake week to week (Atkins par. 7). The third and fourth phases of the Atkins diet are for maintenance phases. Dieters should avoid any foods that could possibly cause weight gain, and continue to watch the intake of carbohydrates. The intake of carbohydrates may be increased during this phase but still must be managed (Atkins par. 8). The Atkins diet has had some controversies and some successes as well. This diet is a high fat diet and the government health agencies only recommend thirty percent of fat in our diets. The Atkins diet requires the dieter to consume much more fat than that, easily (Atkins par. 9). A success that the Atkins dieters have experienced is not only weight loss, but an improvement in health as well (Atkins par. 10). Although this diet has been very time consuming for dieters, it has had wondrous outcomes. The South Beach diet is also a fad diet. This diet also consists of phases like the Atkins diet, but in this specific diet there are only three phases rather than four. The first phase lasts a minimum of two weeks (How par. 2). Each day the dieter must eat three well balanced meals. A snack must also be consumed after breakfast and after lunch, and dessert must follow dinner (How par. 3). This phase of the South Beach diet temporarily cut out a lot of foods. The change you will make during this phase is that you will cut out all bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, baked goods, fruit,
  • 9. Sydney Carton Hero The ideas of heroism in a Victorian sense are very different than those ideas of a hero in Anglo Saxon literature. The most obvious hero in A Tale of Two Cities is Sydney Carton, but he emerges very differently than Beowulf. It was never clearly mentioned in the novel that Carton was a hero, so Dickens expected the reader to infer that that was so. It also wasn t until book three that Carton became a truly dynamic characterand ultimately became the herohe sought to be. Careless and slovenly if not debauched (Dickens 55) was how Dickens described Carton s character in book one. He is merely a man, and a flawed man at the beginning of the novel. Carton s imperfections and impurities set the stage for his later actions that will prove him a hero and also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After Darnay is convicted, Lucie falls into a faint, and, Carton is there to assist her, coming to her aid from the obscure corner from which he had never moved (Dickens 260). Though Carton never received recompense, he is always prepared to assist the Manettes. When Carton returns Lucie safely to her room, her child cries out to him, I think you will do something to help mamma, something to save papa ... can you, of all the people who love her, bear to see her so? As Carton leaves, he murmurs a few significant words under his breath: A life you love (Dickens 260). Finally, Carton sacrifices his own self to the Guillotine and ultimately the revolution in place of Darnay, again, out of his love and compassion for Lucie. His final thoughts are some of the most famous lines in the entire novel, It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go than I have ever known (Dickens 293). This was the end destined for Sydney Carton. He has grown in courage and valor, from a drunk, dissatisfied, and insignificant man to a hero who found his calling in sacrificing himself for the love he would never
  • 10. Praise Of Slowness For the in Praise of Slowness exercise I decided to go to Dogwood, which is situated across the street from the Miami Inn. Here I sat for thirty minutes contemplating a variety of topics, including time and my management of it, my family, my past memories, and finally new ones that I would like to create. At first, when I arrived at Dogwood I was not fully comfortable with the assignment, or rather the idea that I was going to spend thirty minutes reflecting statically. I have never been the person that is best at keeping still for long periods of times, and often I can only sit when I have a certain task to accomplish that requires both mental and some physical effort. I want those around me to know that quality comes before quantity and that things such as mental health and stress are very important to me. I want those that work with me to know that not only will I be a structured leader, but also that I am supportive and want everyone to be able to slow down life enough to enjoy it. I think that it is very important to realize that taking a break and then having the energy to produce better work later is more effective than constantly working and putting in less effort. This experience has taught me that I need to start slowing down my own life more, and that being an effective leader means that you need to support others as well as yourself. As we discussed in class, there are a multitude of characteristics that define a good leader, but one that has always stood out to me are those that are compassionate and supportive of those around them. I have always believed in the phrase to lead by example and I believe that by showing others it is okay to slow down as the Ted talk said, as well as being more supportive in my structured style will allow those that work with me to lead a healthier more effective life. Overall, I think that this was a very effective assignment, and I cannot wait to be a more supportive leader to others and
  • 11. History of the Battle of Shiloh Introduction The Battle of Shiloh is historically known as one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War. Part of the Western Campaign, Shiloh came on the heels of Union victories at Fort Henry and Fort Donelson, primarily as a Confederate attempt to halt the Union s advance into the deep South. Though causes of the Union victory at Shiloh may be disputed, the significance of this Battle to the War s outcome is undeniable. Analysis When, Where and Why the Battle of Shiloh Took Place The Battle of Shiloh took place on April 6 7, 1862 (Daniel, 1997, p. 319) in southern Tennessee s Hardin County, particularly at Pittsburg Landing (Groom, 2012, p. 41). The short answer to why this Battle took place is that the Confederacy wanted to stop the Union s advance far into Tennessee and eventually into Mississippi by a surprise attack on Ulysses S. Grant s Army of the Tennessee before Union Major General Don Carlos Buell s Army of the Ohio could arrive and join Grant s forces (Groom, 2012, p. 141). The long answer to why this Battle took place can be found in the two prior Confederate losses at Fort Henry and Fort Donelson in February, 1862, and the consequences of those losses. • 12. Literature Surrounding Vehicle Speed Reduction Techniques... 3.1 Introduction This chapter critically assesses literature surrounding vehicle speed reduction techniques and shared spaces. Developing a clear understanding of background literature provides a strong theoretical foundation, and perspective to conduct an effective investigation with regard to how vehicle speed and presence are crucial aspects as to whether or not a shared space is successful. Therefore, this chapter will begin with an overview of the history and development of shared spaces followed by vehicle speed in shared space, risk homeostasis theory, speed reduction techniques, horizontal traffic deflections techniques, and entrances and surfaces. 3.2 The History Development of Shared Spaces Ben Hamilton Baillie, an architect in the United Kingdom coined the term shared space, however, the original design and concept is accredited to Hans Monderman, a Dutch traffic engineer who invented the term Woonerf in Netherlands, 1970 (Ben Joseph, 1995). However, there are many examples today of shared spaces throughout Australasia, Europe, the UK and the United States. Historic evidence states that streets has been a place of interaction, movement and activity. When cars were firstly introduced, the road corridors were still a place to walk, move, and play. However, in the mid twentieth century motor vehicles become more popular, where two concepts arose to dominate road design: The most key role of a road is to accommodate efficient movement and fast journey for

Credit card issuer allows you to pay back the money wholly or partially. The units and operational community that I served in for my first two tours were comprised of members with a very self centered mentality. We usually did things for one of two reasons: because we had no choice or for personal benefit. Those at the unit with positional power did not look out for their people; they were too worried about their own agendas. We followed them because we had to, not because we wanted to. During the time of the slavery movement, the primary goal for writing slave stories such as, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and Property was to gain some sort of sympathy within the white community and gain support to stop slavery. As both of these narratives are written from the female perspective, the two stories show the harsh reality and the ironic nature of sexual exploitation through language and imagery. The two narratives revolve around many literary elements to help shape the story along with similar story patterns that took place during the particular time period. Within Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, the narrative is often interrupted by the social and political aspects that occur and Property really focuses on the personal relationships that go on between the slave owners and their slaves, in particular the relationship between man and women and woman to woman. According to polls and predictions, Oregon may be one of the up and coming states to legalize it next. But here comes to question, Should marijuana be legalized? Why or why not? There are many pros and cons to this situation, and they all affect not just our state but our country as a whole. That is exactly why I chose this topic. Since middle school, there has been talk about whether marijuana should be legalized or not. What good or harm will that do? There are two very different sides to this, but both of which make much sense. Now that some states have legalized marijuana, I am interested in seeing what people think about it now. An Analytical Comparison Of Men s And Women s Literature An Analytical Comparison of Men s and Women s Literature in Enlightenment Era Britain Suppression of thought and action has always been a method for one people to govern over another. When we think of suppression we typically think of slavery; the physical governance of one group over another. However, throughout history, other forms of suppression have dominated cultures, such as that of inequality. An example of this in today s world would be the job market for women. Though it has undoubtedly improved through the years, a man with equal credentials to that of a womantends to obtain a job much more easily. This is a form of suppression through inequality by men upon women. If a woman cannot obtain a high paying job equal or better to that of a man, she may need to be dependent on a man for financial means. Britain women during the beginning years of the Enlightenment period experienced suppression of their education. Literature of the 17th and 18th centuries in Britain was characterized by raillery of both men towards women and, increasingly, women towards men fighting the educational suppression and inequality that would lead to modern feminism. Like all major movements, such as the civil rights movement of the 1960s, Feminism had its birth somewhere. Feminism began with women authors such as Mary Astell, Margaret Cavendish, Aphra Behn, and Mary Leapor (Sherman 2125). When making the absorption graphs for the yellow 5 and yellow 6, the lines of best fit were giving numbers that were extremely small. After help from the TA, it was found that our concentrations used where twice as small of a concentration compared to what was actually used for Full Throttle. To correct this the molarity s were multiplied by ВЅ. For example when finding the x value in our equation y=2.044x+0.2067 the answer is x = 7.28 5 moles. To correct this, that number is multiplied by 0.5 to get the correct value of 3.64*10^ 5. This new number is what was used in the equation c1v1=c2v2. After the solution was made to mimic Full Throttle it was discovered that the beverage only had one food dye. The experiment was intended to have a beverage with two food dyes present. To make up for this, orange PowerAde was used and the experiment was repeated for orange PowerAde. The solution was made for the orange PowerAde and its absorption graph was compared to that of the diluted orange PowerAde solution. Comparing the two graphs, have the same peaks although these peaks are at different absorption levels. Since the two graphs have the same peaks it is safe to assume that the same food dyes are present in both solutions. It is important to note that there are two peaks in each graph despite only seeing one peak. This is because both peaks are located so close to each other that they merge as one overall peak. Both would also go on to inspire many other social changes due to their methodologies and accomplishments. The BYNC housed the infant station and the Chicago Settlement never regained its footing within the community. Alinsky had again proved the effectiveness of his methods (Hamington, 2010). Addams and Alinsky appear to have very different organizing philosophies. Alinsky himself often commented how his methods were so different than those of the settlement houses. These comments however, should have been more directed at what the settlement houses had become and not at the originating principles of Jane Addams Hull House. Jane Addams herself would likely disapprove of the direction that the settlement houses had moved towards. Addams and Alinsky both recognized the importance of listening and learning the needs of the community in order to gain perspective. Addams recognized that when existing social institutions do not provide a reasonable means for citizen participation, those citizens will organize to resist... Similarly, Alinsky viewed his organizations as fully democratic [stating]: This kind of organization can be built only if people are working together for real, attainable objectives (Hamington, 2010). The connections between the philosophies of Addams and Alinsky are inextricably linked. The resonance between the social philosophies of Addams and Alinsky is not surprising if the Chicago School connection is taken into account. Addams and Hull House helped

The Ayatollah had to deal with foreign influence within the country. The Shah had welcomed western influence into the country but Khomeini disliked this dependence and his revolution ended up in a bitter quarrel with western powers such as the US and Britain. The quarrel rose to new levels when members of the Iranian public took American embassy workers hostage and were not released until 1980. The consequence was a ruined diplomatic tie with the Carter government and western powers alike. The Ayatollah destroyed the good relations with the west but he also made himself unpopular with various other Arab states. Added to that, it achieves better oral hygieneby preventing food stagnation in the empty space of lost teeth and can be easily adjusted and repaired. They often contained more chemicals than actual foods. Our bodies were eroding from the inside out. All of the chemicals that we had been ingesting over the last seventy years began to cause physical harm to our digestive systems. We had to be proscribed antibiotics... We must do everything in our power to restore the planet. Pick up pollutants in the water ways, recycle what materials we can. To move on, we need to find a use for all of the abandoned vehicles and homes. Rehabilitate communities to make them livable shelters again. HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE Our ancestors did not have the tools that we still possess. They made it this far, so can we. It may require going back to more primitive methods such as hunting and trapping for food while our crops grow but we will thrive again. We may have to live off of the land rather than all of the luxury we have had for the past thousand years. This is not the end. We will adapt. DIVERSITY This change will bring more diversity as we begin to rebuild. There is no longer social class dividing people. Everyone lost it all. This event truly showed us the importance of working together and breaking previous social
  • 52. Waltz Song Compare Contrast dance: The traditional waltz will always be in debuts, but in our waltz we added our own little twist. Usually, there will also be another performance from the debutant, but since Maggie and I were running out of time we had to cancel that out. Our theme song was Lemonade (Jeremy Passion s version). Maggie and I love that song, we complete thought it was appropriate for us to use is as our waltz song. We had paired our court by height, (because we really do care about height differences). There were 11 pairs (including Maggie and I and our escorts). As the wind blew, the castle itself was snored. Nothing moved but a dark form on the fortress wall. It was a boy. Climbing over the wall, the prince sneaked to the open attic window. With the guards sleeping at their posts, it was child s play. Agile as a squirrel, he darted into the attic. Inside the room beheld the Firebird, a majestic sun eagle of gold. Withdrawing the Firebird, the boy stared at the pure golden cage, coveting it. A name was engraved on the handle, genommen*. Though the prince was warned against stealing it, his hand inched towards the cage then darted to grab the handle. As soon as he touched it, trumpets blared ... One day he discovered that someone was stealing his golden apples. My father was enraged and sent his guards to catch the thief. But they were quite unsuccessful. The tsar was so upset at the loss of his golden apples that he lost his appetite too. My brothers and I tried to console him, and my oldest brother told him that he would guard the orchard. And so he did Although he arrived there quite early in the evening, he saw no one. I suspect he lay down and soon fell asleep. Next morning my father asked him how he fared in the orchard. My oldest brother skillfully lied and told my father that although he did not sleep a wink, he saw no one. The following night the tsar s second son went to secure the orchard. But he too slept all night, and next morning he lied his father telling him he had seen no sign of a thief, although he also had never closed his
