Essays On Sustainable Development
Writing an essay on the topic of sustainable development can be both challenging and rewarding.
The complexity arises from the interdisciplinary nature of the subject, requiring a comprehensive
understanding of environmental science, economics, social dynamics, and political structures.
Crafting a well-rounded essay involves delving into the intricacies of sustainable practices,
exploring the global and local implications, and analyzing the role of various stakeholders.
One of the difficulties lies in synthesizing information from diverse sources to present a
cohesive argument. Sustainable development encompasses a wide range of issues, from
renewable energy and biodiversity conservation to poverty alleviation and social equity. Weaving
these elements together while maintaining logical flow and coherence is a delicate task.
Moreover, the dynamic nature of the field poses a challenge. Sustainable development is an
evolving concept, with ongoing debates and emerging paradigms. Staying updated with the
latest research findings and incorporating them into the essay adds an extra layer of complexity.
Addressing the ethical dimension is another hurdle. Balancing economic development with
environmental stewardship and social justice requires navigating through ethical dilemmas. This
involves careful consideration of values, cultural contexts, and differing perspectives on what
constitutes a sustainable future.
Despite the challenges, writing an essay on sustainable development offers a unique opportunity
to contribute to the discourse on pressing global issues. It allows for critical thinking and the
exploration of innovative solutions to complex problems. By overcoming these challenges, one
can create a piece that not only informs but also inspires action towards a more sustainable and
equitable world.
If you find yourself struggling with such essays or need assistance in crafting well-researched
and thoughtful pieces, various resources are available. Online platforms like HelpWriting.net

Essay On The Boston Tea Party
There were many events that led to the American Revolution. However, the most
significant event that started the revolution was the Boston Tea Party. The Boston
Tea Party is the most crucial event that took place because it started rebellious
actions, it led to a chain of events which eventually caused the war to start, and it
riled up many people. The first reason why The Boston Tea Party, which is also called
the Midnight Raid, is the most significant event leading up to the American
Revolutionis because it started rebellious actions. The Boston Tea Party started as a
protest against the British taxing the American colonists tea. On December 16th,
1773, an association of around seventy men organized by Samuel Adams climbed
aboard three British ships. This group of seventy men can also be identified as the
Sons of Liberty. They were dressed as Mohawk or Narragansett Indians that would
disguise them. They thought this would deceive the British into thinking they were
Native Americans and not the Americans. It is accounted that they wore an Indian
dress, which contained blankets or ragged clothing with soot rubbed on their faces.
Once aboard the ships, the men dumped 342 chests of English tea into the Boston
Harbor. They did this as a reaction to the Stamp Act, which put taxes on paper items
and tea, and because of taxation without representation. The tea that they dumped out
was valued at around eighteen thousand dollars and was over ninety two thousand
pounds. They

Hockey Players Are Pretty Good People
So this brings up my first point and ethical dilemma; is it right for the NHL to put
their players in this town? One can argue that is not the responsibility of the NHL
to control the actions of their players, however, is it a good idea to even present
the opportunity for a millionaire athlete to be tempted by this excessive town, that
is Las Vegas? Generally, hockey players are pretty good people, including
professionals playing in the NHL, or instance; P.K. Subban, current Nashville
Predator, and former defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens made an outstanding
donation of $10 million dollars to the Montreal Children s Hospital. Nick Foligno,
Captain of the Columbus Blue Jackets also donated $1 million dollars to the
Boston Children s Hospital after they treated his daughter for a congenital heart
disease, supporting the positive reputation of the players, being mostly, kind
hearted and generous guys off the ice. On the contrary, hockey players are known
to have a bit of a reputation for being partiers, Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick
Kane has often been spotted having a few more beverages than he should in
downtown Chicago, he also got in trouble with the law back in the summer of
2009 for an altercation with a cab driver over $0.20 cents. Not to say that every
NHL player that visits, or plays in Las Vegas will be a drug addict and get arrested.
Nonetheless, by the NHL placing the Golden Knights franchise in Las Vegas, it
presents a lot of temptation for these young

Measuring Molarity by Two Different Titration
Authors: Seungchan Lee, Emily Lemchuk, Le, Linh, Jacob Lawhorn, Francis Esuon,
Dr. Breece, CHM 144 D, 2016 11 02
Introduction:
The significance of titration is to find out the concentration of unknown substances.
There are different kinds of titration and this experiment consists of two kinds of
titration. The traditional titration uses the phenolphthalein indicator dye to determine
the concentration by color change. The modern titration uses pH electrodes. The
chemical reaction H3C6H6O7(aq)+3OH (aq)в†’3H2O(l)+C6H5O7(aq) is used to
determine the moles of citric acid from the moles of NaOH. The main scientific
objective of the experiment is to determine the molarity of two different sodas by
traditional titration and modern titration respectively.
Methods:
Traditional method with the use of phenolphthalein indicator dye
A ring stand with the buret was set up, and then a large waste beaker was placed
under the buret. The buret was rinsed with distilled water. A clean 150mL beaker

clean funnel. The funnel was removed, and the stopcock was opened for a short
time. The level of the solution was lowered. The leaking was checked, and then the
initial volume of sodium hydroxide solution was recorded. The carbonic acid in the
soda was previously removed by boiling. Prior to each

Analysis of the Orangutan Pongo Pygmaeus Essay
Analysis of the Orangutan Pongo Pygmaeus
The orangutan, Pongo pygmaeus, is an ape that is found in the moist, coastal
rainforests of Sumatra and Borneo which consists of Indonesia s Kalimantan
provinces, Malaysia s Sabath and Sarawak, and the kingdom of Brunei Darussalam.
Orangutans live in tropical rainforests and are arboreal primates meaning that they
are tree dwelling. Orangutans construct nests in the tree branches for the night in
which they will curl up and sleep. These nests are made out of leaves and branches
and they will sometimes use a leaf as a roof to protect themselves from the rain.
Orangutans are omnivores, which means they eat a variety of meat and plants. They
primarily eat fruit, leaves and small animals. ... Show more content on

The hierarchy among orangutans is the Noayu, which is where there is a solitary male
. There is marked sexual dimorphism among the orangutans. Females weigh only half
as much as the males. Being lighter, females and juveniles often stay in the trees. Not
only is there a noticeable difference in size, but males also possess quite a few
different characteristics than female orangutans do. For example, males have big
cheek pads and facial hair that resembles a man s moustache and beard. The
numbers or orangutans have recently dropped tremendously owing to loss of
habitat to deforestation and the killing of females for their young, to be sold as
pets or zoo animals. Fewer than 30,000 individuals are believed to remain in the
wild, and the species is listed as endangered (Galdkias, 1987) In relation to my
observation, the orangutans acted very similar in captivity as if they were in the
wild. The space was limited, but for what they had to work with, they displayed
many of the behaviors they would have given they were in the wild. I noticed that
the males remained solitary, as proven in my research. In one instance, Kiko
approached his sister and they groomed for a short amount of time, and Kiko went
into a different section of the enclosure and remained by himself until the end of my
observation. Junior, the dominating male, and father of Kiko, also stayed confined to
himself. There was absolutely no interaction between Junior
A Close Reading Of Millay s I, Being Born A Woman And...
Dispassionate Passion:
A Close Reading of Millay s I, Being Born a Woman and Distressed
Edna St. Vincent Millay s I, Being Born a Woman and Distressed traces the physical
and psychological venture of a woman as she indulges in the passion of a one night
stand. Throughout the sonnet, literary elements function to facilitate the emergence
of a paradox surrounding the speaker s existence as both an active subject and a
passive object in the encounter described.
In analyzing the woman s experience, the tone of the poem principally informs its
paradoxical nature. For, while the notion of passion is conventionally associated
with powerful and overwhelming emotion, the speaker s tone is consistently calm
and subdued when alluding to it. As evidence of this, one must recall the manner in
which she establishes her sexual desire for her anonymous lover: [I] am urged by
your propinquity to find Your person fair, and feel a certain zest... (lines 3 4)
Within these lines, as in the rest of the sonnet, the use of diction is extremely
composed. The denotation of the word propinquity communicates a nearness or
closeness in space between the two, yet its use in this setting also connotes an
emotional distance due to its intellectual complexity. Although the woman states that
she is distressed, undone, and of [clouded] mind, her careful and formal phraseology
fails to correlate with these claims of dishevelment (lines 7 8). In fact, without the
presence of charged and
Being There By Jerzy Kosinski Summary
Being There by Jerzy Kosinski is an allegorical tale about a man named Chance
whose experience of the world is limited to his work as a gardener and what he has
seen on television. Watching TV is the most important action for Chance; he is
nearly keen on TV, because it is his information source of the happenings in the
world around him outside in the streets. Over the course of seven days, Chance
leaves his employer and navigates his way through high society. His encounters with
businessmen, world leaders, and the media are colored by his observations of life as
seen in his former garden and on television. (INTRODA KULLANMAK Д°Г‡Д°N

Socio-political evaluation of the Iranian Revolution of...
The intensity of the Iranian revolution of 1978 1979 and the suddenness with which
it appeared surprised many people both in Iran itself and in the rest of the world.
The Shah s autocratic political system was solid, his loyal army was strong. Iran had
a thriving economy and a wealthy middle class. Why did, then, Irango through an
Islamic state? How and why the traditional Shi`i ulama in particular, came to lead the
opposition to the Shah in the late 1970s?
The Shah ultimately lost his throne because his policies had frustrated and alienated
nearly all sectors of Iranian society including the emerging middle class, the bazaaris,
the peasants, the working class, the urban poor and the ulama. During the
revolutionary struggle, all major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The power of the ulama increased during the Qajar era. As the Safavid power
declined in the seventeenth century however, some of the ulama began to deny the
religious legitimacy of the Shah s power, and to claim that the Mujtahids had a better
right to rule. (Keddie, 1972,p.221).
This can be seen as the beginning of a new era in state ulama relations and indicate
that the ulama found themselves drawn increasingly into a political role. The
weakness of the Qajar rule in the face of increasing European power and its
decentralization left many important powers in the hands of the ulama virtually all
education, most legal, welfare and charitable matters. (Keddie, 1981,p.24). In the late
Qajar period state absorption of (awqaf) and private appropriation of endowments
constituted major themes in Land relations (Akhavi, 1980,p.56). Accordingly, the
ulama began to participate, to commit themselves, in the strictly political arena. Their
opposition took the two forms of legal and constitutional protest, and direct
involvement of religious leader in demonstrations, strikes, taking sanctuary, etc. The
first form of protest, which can be seen as the most notable case, was the Tobacco
revolt of 1891. At the same time, a group of traditional urban middle class (the
bazaaris) have participated in this event. The Pahlavi shahs viewed the bazaar as an
impediment to the modern society that they wished to
Essay about Juvenile Recidivism
Introduction: Recidivism or, habitual relapses into crime, has time and time again
proven to be an issue among delinquents, which thereby increases the overall juvenile
prison population. This issue has become more prevalent than what we realize.
Unless a unit for measuring a juvenile s risk of recidivism is enacted and used to
determine a system to promote effective prevention, than the juvenile prison
population will continue to increase. Our court system should not only focus on
punishing the said juvenile but also enforce a program or policy that will allow for
prevention of recidivism. So the question remains, how can recidivism in the juvenile
prison population be prevented so that it is no longer the central cause for increased...

Not only this but, offenders who commit new offenses after court contact are at risk
for a variety of poor developmental and life course outcomes, including school failure,
out of home placements, occupational marginality, and long term involvement in
criminal activity (Schwalbe 2004). As seen here, this is a downward spiral. Active
reform has never before been at such a demand. As recidivism and juvenile
delinquency continues to increase, not only will national crime rates and juvenile
prison populations inflate, but the diminishing of an educated, safe, and economically
stable society will also be affected regrettably. If juveniles whom continue to commit
repeat criminal offenses lack school initiative, family support, and job exposure, than
relatively as recidivism and juvenile criminal activity increases, our nation s standard
of living will consequently lower.
For those who are simply interested in the costs, it may be fairly surprising. It is a
common and misconceived ideal that incarceration is a cheap and easy way to
contain criminals, in this case juveniles. However, due to the fact that the
incarceration itself has not in any way hindered criminal activity rates or decreased
juvenile recidivism, taxpayers are simply investing more money into these detention
facilities and court proceedings than what is realized. Let s look at a specific
detention facility for example. The Cook

Determining The Success Of A Restaurant Business
The menu is the fundamental element in determining the success of a restaurant
business. Each customer may have their individual dietary preferences, but the basis
of a menu depends on universal requirements in human nature. A human is
intrinsically an omnivore with a diet of both meat and plant proteins. The omnivore s
paradox or dilemma refers to the contradiction of omnivores having both the sense of
neophilia, the inclination and craving for exploration and variation but at the same
time limited by neophobia, the fear of the uncertainty of a foods edibility. The
incorporation principle referring to how a food effects a person physically and
psychologically. Understanding how the omnivore s paradox works and how the
incorporation principle influences customers will help chefs putting together a
menu create something that caters to a wide range of customers and dietary
requirements. The omnivore s paradox raises the issue of how a chef can create a
menu that is both interesting and sellable, catering to the balance of mankind s
fear of danger and need of novelty, and how the dishes they produce can meet and
exceed the customer s expectations. This essay will explain the omnivore s paradox,
its relationship to neophilia and neophobia, and their influence on a commercial
chef. The incorporation principle will be explained in relation to a customer s
decision making. It will also cover how the omnivore s paradox and incorporation
principle effects the boundaries of food in

Music And Music Essay
Music can be a very influential and profound aspect in people s lives. It has
become such an impactful part in places all around the world and people are
interested to know how it truly affects people cognitively, especially in children.
Generally, people don t tend to think about how many things that we learn in our
childhood such as the ABC s and creating a song to know and remember the days of
the week, have incorporated musicon a small scale. More closely, being involved in
music especially in a hands on way, is a very crucial part in cognitive development
because it helps advance parts of the brain responsible for things such as language
proficiency, motor skills, linguistic abilities, and speech development, yet it also
helps process certain sounds in a way you may not have otherwise heard (Locker
14). This is such a meaningful topic to explore because it is something so simple
that can help improve numerous parts of your brain and how it is developed.
Music can really help change the way your brain is developed as well as the way
you process information. In an article on Time, Melissa Locker talks about how
being involved in a music class or playing a musical instrumentcan have major
benefits all around cognitively. Locker was in contact with a woman, Nina Kraus,
who conducted an experiment with her team at Northwestern about how being
actively involved and engaged with music, whether in a class setting or not helped
more than just listening to music or attending a

The Problem with Homeless in America

One of the basic human needs is shelter. While many people take having a roof
over their head for granted, there is a plethora of people that have no place to call
home. However, America has become a place where Social Darwinism is vastly
accepted, leaving several people that are homeless with limited resources. In
January 2013, 610,042 people were homeless on a given night. Most (65 percent)
were living in emergency shelters or transitional housing programs and 35 percent
were living in unsheltered locations (Cortes, Morris, Henry, 2013, p.1). While this is

Homelessness has no age limit. Nearly one quarter (23 percent or 138,149) of all
homeless people were children, under the age of 18. Ten percent (or 61,541) were
between the ages of 18 and 24, and 67 percent (or 410,352) were 25 years or older
(Cortes et al., 2013 p.6).
This shows how the problem affects every cohort and it s sad that children have the

Principles And Methods Of Ergonomics
INTRODUCTION
Ergonomic means the understanding of the interactions among humans and other
elements of a system. This is achieved by applying theoretical principles, data and
methods to design so that we can optimise human well being and thus improving
overall system performance. Ergonomists helps in planning, designing and evaluation
of tasks, jobs and products in industries. These also include environments and
systems in order to make viable to the needs, abilities and limitations of peoples.
The term Ergonomics means Greek ergo that is work and nomos means laws to
denote the science of work, ergonomics now contributes to all aspects of human
activity. Physical ergonomics is concerned with human anatomy, and some of the

According to International Ergonomics Association (IEA); Ergonomics is the
scientific discipline concerned with the understanding of interactions among
humans and other elements of a system, and the profession that applies theory,
principles, data and methods to design in order to optimize human well being and
overall system performance(2). In countries like India where there are many
industries, they play a vital role in employing majority of industrial workers. The
majority of the industrial workers are suffering from musculoskeletal disorder(5)
that are work related specially upper extremity work related musculoskeletal
disorders (UE WMSDs) are the most common form of occupational diseases.
Hence to consider this factor, operator needs proper seating arrangement such that
their problems regarding the MSDs can be reduced productivity will be increased

comfortable, efficient, and harmless as possible. This is achieved by proper balance
between worker characteristics and task demands. In any work setting it is important
to produce high quality products and it s been a main objective also. Labour is
directly related to the productivity. Their ability, skills, productivity and performance
have a great importance towards the increased production (4). Hence proper

Swot Analysis For A Rural Satellite Clinic
SWOT Analysis
A SWOT Analysis is a useful strategic tool for PMH to utilize when determining
whether a rural satellite clinic will be a profitable market venture. A SWOT Analysis
is a diagram that considers organizations internal competencies (strengths and
weaknesses) and external developments (opportunities and threats) affecting the
institution (Van Wijngaarden, Scholten, Van Wijk, 2012). Therefore a SWOT
analysis for PMH s satellite clinic project includes the following strengths: PMH
current rural health clinic is successful and provides patients with increased access to
outpatient health care services even after business hours and on weekends; offers a
patient portal for customers to electronically access their health information; and
gives patients access to rotating specialty care services (i.e. podiatry, nephrology, and
surgery) (PMH, n.d.). Also, PMH has built strong relationships throughout
Pocahontas County that increases public perceptions for their institution and
acceptability for the developing of new business ventures (PMH, n.d.). Finally, PMH
has an in house billing center that assists patients with their health care payments and
offers a Payment Assistance Program to those patients who have difficulty paying
their bills (PMH, n.d.).
However, there are internal weaknesses that are affecting PMH ability to provide
exceptional services to their consumers. Many of PMH s customers live in rural areas

Calpurnia was written by Lee as a black woman but still is treated fairly and with
respect by Atticus and her race was never mentioned by Jem and Scout

she is, it is scout towards the end of the book as she is a little older that begins to

Big Brother In George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty-Four 1984
Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell is a dystopian novel in which the
government, known as the Party, controls everything and everyone. The symbol of
the Party is a strong looking face called Big Brother. Big Brother is always
watching, whether it be by telescreens or thought police. In this twisted society, the
Party convinces its people that war is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is
strength. However, the protagonist, Winston Smith, convinces himself that his
society is backward. Anyone who goes against the party becomes known as a
thought criminal and disappears forever. Winston can t conform to this society and
knows there is something fundamentally wrong with it. Winston shows a lot of

recently come under fire from the press because of a number of issues that have
come to fruition within the Agency. To highlight a few of the issues, they include
the death and arrest of two of our clients as well as a number of news agencies
reporting negatively about our personnel. Upon further review of these issues,
there appears to be more complexities that need to be addressed on both an internal
and external level. Issues This past week, two failed cases occurred days in
between each other. Eight year old Michelle Moore was found in what has been
deemed a homicide in her Newark home and twelve year old, Genesis Rincon was
arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to distribute. These two clients were
both supposed to be under the supervision of our case managers. Upon the conduction
of an internal review from our Inspector General, it was found that not only did these
caseworkers have a higher amount of absenteeism regarding client check ups but one
of the caseworkers is romantically involved with her superior an Assistant
Commissioner who was recently transferred from a different department.

Genesis 1-2 Wayne Belleville Analysis
1)What were the author s three strongest points? What makes them strong? In my
opinion, one of the author s strongest points come from her treatment of Genesis 1 2.
She convincingly presents an argument for equality and sameness regarding male
/female roles in the creation account (26). For example, Belleville notes that both the
man and the woman were given the commission to be fruitful and multiple, as well as
have dominion over the earth (26), thus they are given equal standing/position from
God at the beginning. Additionally, Belleville presents the idea that if there was any
submission taking place in the creation account, it was both man and woman
submitting to the commission of their creator, God (30). This point proves strong I

Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you. Belleville claims
that the latter part of this verse refers to a rift in intimacy between man and woman

many do, that this text is descriptive and not prescriptive, she still tries extremely
hard to remove any hint of hierarchy from the text, which appears to be a stretch.
Although I agree with her that people should not use this text as justification for
hierarchy (35), I think she is stretching to claim that we do not find hierarchy taking

Cohabitation Before Marriage Essay

wedding day with the perfect dress or tux and a decadent cake, most aren t ready to
commit to what comes after. Some call it living in sin, others call it living in bliss,
but these days it s almost expected that a couple will live together without marriage.
Cohabitation, once rare, is now the norm. Filipino family life has changed drastically
as marriage is losing ground and more couples live together without tying the knot.

In Britain, an estimated 80% of couples live together before getting married.
Australia is just behind at 77%. The reason given by many couples who cohabit is
that they believe they will increase the chances of success when they eventually
marry. However, research has shown that this idea is a fallacy. And it flies against
God s intention that men and women be sexually joined together only in marriage.
Here s what some of the research reveals: Although most theories of marital choice
predict that cohabitation would increase the stability of later marriage for those
couples who marry, evidence to date suggests the opposite; couples who cohabit
before marriage seem to end their marriages at significantly higher rates than couples
who never lived together before the wedding (Demography, August 1995, p.438).
Some studies put the divorce rate at 50% higher for couples who cohabit; others put
it as high as 80%. In America roughly 40% of cohabiting couples break up before
marriage. Many couples apparently move in together intending to marry later. One
study revealed that 70% of women moved in with a man with marriage on their minds
(Adams,S. amp; Young,B., The 10 Commandments of Dating, 1999, p.110). Many
people who choose to live together before marriage show that they are reluctant to
commit to a relationship and want to keep their options open. Apparently they value
their autonomy and individuality. However, these
Pickett s Charge Causes
The soldiers participating in Pickett s Charge had started out with optimism and
feelings that they would be a huge part in American history, but as things turned to
chaos causing a domino effect, in which the whole charge was compromised. The
Union artillery fire was devastating to the Confederates. It reduced their morale and
quickly depleted their numbers. Those soldiers that did reach Union lines, were faced
with intense musket fire. After all that destruction, it was imperative that the
Confederates retreat, or risk having many more casualties. Fortunately, for the
Confederates, the Union forces did not chase after them. The results would have been
much more disastrous if that was the case. The blame for Pickett s Charge has been

The first difference is that Microsoft SQL only used Windows as the only operating
system while other three platforms can use multiple platforms. Developers do not
have any operating options to choose since Microsoft SQL only supports for

Health Care Screening Program Essay
The last three months have been a busy time, evaluating the needs of the SC Lions
Foundation and South Carolina Lions Charitable Services, while continuing to work
on grant opportunities and other sources of funding. SCLCS and SCLF are at a
crossroads for many of the programs, funding and service opportunities. There are
several areas that SCLCS and SCLF need to address for the organizations to remain
successful.
South Carolina Lions Charitable Services has a long history of helping the residents
of South Carolina that require assistance with vision and hearing needs. Our Health
Care Screening Program is an important tool to ensure the health and well being of
school age children throughout the state. There are major obstacles to our securing
the necessary funding to keeps our programs fiscally healthy: the name of our
organization, attempting to secure funds under the auspices of the Foundation and
community perception regarding our services.
South Carolina Lions Charitable Services focuses on serving the vision and hearing
needs of the uninsured residents of South Carolina. Our Health Screening Program,
in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services is an important
tool to ensure the health and wellbeing of school age children. We are working
diligently to bring screening services to many area schools. Unfortunately, our name

Conflict Management
Introduction In today s ever changing business environment organizations encounter
varying levels of intrapersonal, interpersonal, intragroup, and intergroup conflicts.
Intrapersonal conflict is a battle within oneself, which usually involves a life goal and
/or change. Interpersonal conflict is when two or more people have opposing
perspectives to a given situation. Intragroup conflict is when disagreements occur
amongst some or all members of a group and ultimately affects productivity.
Intergroup conflict is when disagreements occur between different teams or groups.

Mike Hammer, CEO of General Hospital, realized that there were many problems
within the hospital. Without progressive action the hospital would soon face
survivability issues and possibly lose its accreditation to practice medicine. Mike
Hammer s biggest challenge at General Hospital was to cut costs while increasing
revenues so that promising current services added in areas that will allow General
Hospital to compete with the medical center. In Hammer s experience physician
costs were a major factor in the inability of hospitals being able to regulate costs. He
believed that physicians didn t understand that their costs were directly connected to
the viability of the hospital in which they worked. General Hospital s failure to
achieve effective cost control methods led Hammer to believe that physician
controlled costs had to be addressed, one physician at a time. The hiring of Marge
Harding as the hospital s chief operating officer and giving her unilateral authority
to place contacts and fire employees enabled Mike Hammer to test his cost control
theory. At General Hospital Dr. James Boyer, whose salary is roughly $100,000 a

A Common Problem Today For Adolescent Christians
A common problem today for adolescent Christians is the lack of intimacy with God,
and not fully experiencing Christ in their lives. The solution to this problem can be
found in the spiritual disciplines. Spiritual disciplines are practices that aid in
transforming believers into the image of Christ, and help them to develop a more
intimate relationship with Christ. They help to bring a Christian into the presence of
God, and to bring them a portion of heaven. According to Isaac Ambrose, an English
Puritan minister from the seventeenth century, spiritual disciplines are the vehicles to
God. He said: ...the saints look upon duties (the Word, Sacraments, Prayers, etc.) as
bridges to give them a passage to God, as boats to carry them into the bosom of
Christ, as means to bring them into more intimate communion with their heavenly
Father, and therefore are they so much taken with them (Schwanda 1). Ambrose
argued that through spiritual disciplines, one could experience an intimate
relationship with God. The spiritual disciplines are broken into three categories,
inward, outward, and corporate. From these three categories, the three main focuses
are meditation, service, and worship. Through the application of these three spiritual
disciplines, the main goal is to enter a deeper, more intimate relation with Christ and
to be shaped into the image of Christ. The first spiritual discipline is meditation.
According to WordNet, meditation is the continuous and profound

Candide s Lack of Wit: Humorous or Dangerous?
A timeless classic that still has relevance in today s society, Candide by Voltaire is a
satirical and humorous piece that criticizes many elements of society. The novel was
written to warn the public about the consequences of radical optimism, and this can
be seen through the depiction of the main character: Candide. Candide, is a naГЇve
and trusting young man who is banished from his home, but despite the fact that his
life is filled with a series of bizarre disasters, Candide holds on to his optimism,
giving the reader a chuckle as well as spreading Voltaire s message. By incorporating

This is most evident in the names of the characters: Candide means bland, naГЇve,
and highly susceptible to the influence of stronger characters, while Pangloss is
Greek for all tongue. This suggests that Pangloss s teachings have no real substance,
and that naГЇve Candide is mislead by his teacher s words. Candide s steadfast
nature is portrayed in many scenes of the novel, and Voltaire uses these instances to
demonstrate how extreme optimism and blind acquiescence can have a detrimental
effect. Candide drew near and saw his benefactor, who rose above the water one
moment and was then swallowed up for ever...the villain swam safely to the shore,
while Pangloss and Candide were borne thither upon a plank (32). Voltaire s jovial
tone allows him to satirize Pangloss s radical optimism and Candide s susceptible
nature while still moving the plot along. His use of connotative diction, such as Г
priori to describe a ridiculous theory mocks the idea and highlights the absurdity of
it. This suggests that Pangloss s extreme optimism and Candide s innocence were the
cause of the poor Anabaptist s death and that this way of thinking will always cause

The Law Elasticity Of Cold Temperature
Table one (which contain 0 degrees) can clearly prove that our hypothesis was
supported, the law elasticity states that when cold temperature is applied to a
rubber band it will expand meaning the less elastic constant; this worked a bit the
opposite in our case. Take note that human error could have played a large part in
this experiment. 100 g in test 1, 2 and 3 is rather odd as the elasticity of the rubber
band is decreasing in value: it starts at 0.4 and ends up in 0; this should be the
complete opposite. This common problem keeps occurring until 250g for test 1, 2
and 3 where the value is the same for each test; this is rather odd as the value should
increase. T4 (70 degrees) is the hottest temperaturewe tested. This follows a... Show

The smoothest of all our tests was the one with the room temperatures, on this day
one of our group members were absent but we managed to achieve to work
effectively, this is mainly because of its simplicity.
This experiment had many faults in it. It had vary results and the law that when hot
temperature is applied in to rubber bands it will contract did abide with many of our
results, same goes to the law about cold temperature where the rubber band
expands. It can be assumed that human error played a large factor in the results of
this experiment; we did keep it controlled by letting only one person measure the x
value of the rubber band. This way only one judgement will be written down in our
results rather than multiple which will confuse. I also believe we rushed and did
too much one our first go with temperature. There were four members on the group
and we had to manage it so that one person records the results while another does
measuring, which leaves with only two people managing all the temperatures, this
included managing the hot plate, the ice cubes, constantly checking the temperature
for four beaker, which I believe was a too big of a burden to carry which resulted in
odd result. It also needed to be noted that this had to be repeated three times for each
temperature which means it was a total of 12 different experiments in less than 70
minutes with only two people managing all the critical
Cause And Effects Of Climate Change
In the present day and age, a current phenomena with increasing effects on the
Earth is climate change. As a result, massive resource shortages, natural disasters,
an increased likelihood of epidemics and disease outbreaks, as well as negative
impacts on a wide range of socioeconomic factors are expected (Podesta, J., Ogden,
P., 2008). These effects have demonstrated and are continually expected to have the
strongest impact on the disadvantaged in developing regions, namely, sub Saharan
African countries and South Asia, in the future, despite a majority of the
responsibility being credited to developed nations. In fact, between the years of 1850
and 2000, 30 percent of carbon emissions are credited to the United States, 27 percent
is credited to countries in the European Union, and 7 percent to China (Macintyre, J.,
2009).
Firstly, climate change has been concluded to lead to an increased disaster rate.
According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), coastal
areas, especially heavily populated mega delta regions in South, East, and
Southeast Asia, will be at greatest risk due to increased flooding from the sea and,
in some mega deltas, flooding from the rivers (Podesta, J., Ogden, P., 2008, pg.
117). Such is seen, for example, in Bangladesh, a developing nation in which
residents experience major flooding, which peaked in 2007, consequently, resulting
in a rapid spread of disease, displacement, and a lack of resources (Macintyre, J.,
2009). An increase

Reflection On The Order Of Worship In The Church
Reflecting upon the readings of Torrance s Worship, Community, and the Triune
God of Grace and White s Introduction to Christian Worship will deeply shape how I
look at worship in the churches I now order worship for the congregations. I used
one of the churches in which I serve to do the Order of Worship assignment. It is a
blue collar, small membership church located in a rural, retirement/ vacation area of
North Carolina, Lake Gaston. It is also predominately Caucasian. Torrance s focus is
on trinitarian worship, participating in Christ s communion with God, the Father and
Christ s life, death, and resurrection through the power of the Holy Spirit. And White
s focus is to look at how the forms used in worship give worship its meaning. These
forms include but are not exclusive of, time, space, music and art. There are
implications for both focuses in the order of worship for the congregation used for
my order of worship. Torrance focuses on the understanding of trinitarian worship.
Trinitarian worship is the participation in Christ s communion with the Father
through the Holy Spirit, in Christ s vicarious life, death, resurrection and Christ s
intercession for humanity. Torrance s view of trinitarian worship is supporting and
encouraging of the doctrines of the Trinity, of God, of JesusChrist, the Holy Spirit
and others which build upon these base doctrines. Torrance sees other forms of
worship such as unitarian worship as being unsupportive and destructive of the

learn from our mistakes. King Lear calls into question many different ethical
dilemmas and it makes us as humans question our own beliefs and how we interact
with each other. King Learis not only a terrific story but it is an example and a guide
to show us the events that could happen when we drift away from those we love and
we focus more on material things. Throughout the play king Lear, Shakespeare
incorporates many different themes within the play. But truly the three biggest
themes are the abuse of power, betrayal, and loyalty. Throughout the play, the
reoccurring theme... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Loyalty is one of the strongest bonds people can form and it shows in the play king
Lear with many different characters. The first character that displays true loyalty
throughout the whole play is the nobleman Kent. Even after the king banishes him
from the kingdom Kent still finds his way back into the king s life and ends up
being one of the few people that actually care about the king. Kent s loyalty
towards the king was so strong he would even fight and confront anyone that
treated his master wrongly. This is a true sign of loyalty and when everyone
started abandoning Lear Kent was the constant at his side never wavering always
there for Lear to lean on, this is true loyalty. A knave rascal, an eater of broken
flesh, a base proud, shallow, beggarly, three suited, hundred pound, filthy worsted
stocking knave (2.2.13 15). This quote again shows that anyone that disrespects
the king in front of Kent will be sure to hear it from him and it speaks to his
character. It shows that Kent is not afraid to stand up for what he thinks is right
and that no matter what he will always be there for the king even if he doesn t have
his powers. The next example of loyalty is the fool. He has been by Lear s side
from the beginning and it is ironic that he is by his side when everyone else is
gone. Prithee nuncle be contended tis a naught night to swim in (3.4.105) this
quote shows that the fool is very close to the king as he calls him nuncle so he has
been there through thick and thin with the king. It also shows his loyalty he
followed the king out into the blistering cold for nothing only because he was
loyal. He cared for the king and he wanted him to be safe and that is a great example
of loyalty by the fool. The lesson Shakespeare delivers here is that there are very few
people in life that would lay down their life for you and have absolute loyalty to you
until the day you die, and those people
Differences Between The Veldt Book And Movie
Hannah Vu 8FA
Many popular movies these days are based on world famous books and stories, like
The Veldt by Ray Bradbury. Some movies may be very similar to its story, but
usually they re quite different. This is usually caused because the movie will be too
long if they try to include all the details that the book provides. But is it completely
true? This is why I will be comparing a short story to it s short film, called The Veldt
by Ray Bradbury.
First, the characters, in this story they re five main characters, one of them being
George Hadley, the father, George is striker in the story and consistent with his
decision, and Lydia Hadley, the mother was really paranoid but became more laid
back towards the end. In the movie though they switched roles. George was not
consistent with his decisions and was very easygoing at the start of ... Show more

The plot had some major differences as well as its similarities, for example, when
Lydia was frightened by the lions and when Peter and Wendykilled their parents. The
film did follow the same storyline and had the same plot but also had some slight
differences here and there, for example ... In the story, George and Lydia found a
wallet and a scarf in the nursery, but they found a purse in the movie. The children
didn t land in the space ship and they didn t even mention the plastic carnival.
There were no whining or jumping on couch s as referenced in the story when the
kids heard the news about locking up the nursery, they just got mad and ran
towards the nursery. When the Parents were supposedly chased by lions, Lydia
wasn t crying, the story made it seem more dramatic than it appeared in the video.
As well as Peter called George George in the movie instead of Father or Dad, this
was not mentioned in the story, but it did show how he didn t really think of
George as his Dad. There were also a little foreshadowing at the end when George
told Lydia to RIP Rest in peace then shortly after they

Did stereotypical gender roles influence either party to proceed in a certain
manner? Explain how they did or did not act stereotypically. No, gender roles did
not influence either party to proceed in certain manners; it was about who can get
Cam and how much she is willing to make to be a part of their organization. Regan
wanted Cam because of her success rate in what she did, and knowing that he
knew she was looking for a new position and was highly recommend by the CEO
he was willing to give her a chance in a new position. Vince wanted Cam because of
her success rate as well; however he was willing to offer Cam more money but less
stability in which she will still be traveling, and not able to report to him directly,
and with no room for growth. What social factors (such as reputation, the prior
relationship between the parties, and their mutual ties to others in the organization,
including the CEO) affected each person s power? The social factors that affected
Regan was when he found out his other colleague Mangini knew that he was going
to hire Cam, but then he decided to offer her another position with a higher salary.
I know this is business, but that was a little dirty to do. Cam has been with the
company for a longtime, therefore she has more of an advantage than others when
applying for other positions. This is how she was able to get an offer from Regan
being that he knew the CEO and he asked Regan to
Sintered Ceramic Materials
Where Nc= number of molecules per unit cell (Z=8), A= molecular weight of
Cu0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 (236.81 g.mole 1), Vc= unit cell volume (584.172x10 24cm3) and
Na=Avogadro s number (6.023x1023 molecules.mole 1). The measured theoretical
density (ПЃth) was found to be 5.3844g.cm 3. The apparent density of pellet
specimens sintered at 850oC and 1050oC was measured by using Ultrapycnometer
1000 which was varified by Archimedes buoyancy Principle and was found to be
4.8 g.cm 3 and 5.02 g.cm 3 respectively. These densities were 91.38% and 93.23%
of the theoretical values (% relative densities). Percentage porosity [59] of sintered
pellet specimens was found to be 8.2% and 6.8% respectively. It is observed
Cu0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 sintered ceramic composed of uniformly sized grains and is 93%
relative density. The high sintered density can be attributed due to the small degree of
agglomeration and fine nature of powder. The properties of sintered ceramic
materials depend upon the sintered density and porosity of ceramic. It is well known
that during sinteringof homogeneous materials, the porosity decreases and the
microstructures of the material develop, depending upon the morphology,
agglomeration and sintering conditions. The Cu0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 specimen sintered at
850oC has lower %relative density as compared to specimen sintered at 1050oC.
Surface morphology
Figure 5 shows the SEM images of Cu0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 synthesized powder dried at
90oC in vaccum (Fig.5a) and calcined at 850oC for 4h
Climate Change Brings Great Risk For World Wide Security
In addressing the facts that the Pentagon is unveiling that climate change brings great
risk for world wide security (Banerjee, Hennigan, 2014). As the Pentagon analyst I
take great pride in giving the conclusion that we as a society needs to take climate
change seriously. In the Pentagon plan they are taking great preparation so they can
be cost effective. In the article they are using satellite images that portray that the
southwestern countries have hot spots that could carry high levels of methanethat can
become hazardous for humans and animals health issues (Banerjee, Hennigan, 2014).
Corresponding to the article it seems like they are trying to stop the founding to the
Pentagon which I have the confidence in using all of our resources that we as a
whole nation can help slow down the global warming. The general issue of climate
changeis that no one really wants to learn about it, until it effects there home town.
By this phase learning about climate change will be too late, and after the event. In
the article glaciers will most defiantly disappear by the middle of century and add
to rising sea levels, expert warns, the issues with climate change that it doesn t
affect one thing it causes risk of sudden avalanches of rocks and soil released from
the ice, and the major affect that it will make sea levels rise by the effects of
glaciers melting (Jowit, 2009). According, to Juliette Jowit man made emissions, are
the leading cause for glaciers melting, sea
Correlation Between Males And Females On Average
The goal of this paper is to determine who is more motivated between males and
females on average in reading. In one study females were considered more motivated
and exhibited higher mastery in reading. There were several factors that contributed
to this conclusion, some being biological and distinctly different from genderto
gender. Boys were usually assessed as less developed mentally and developing in
different sequences as their femalecounterparts. The corpus callosum was 20% bigger
in females than males. These connect the two hemispheres of the brain. Couple this
with these facts together explains why females tend to be better communicators than
males. Boys generally express their feeling with action whereas girls are able to...

There have been mixed results on how it affects children s motivation and
achievement. The results from the study suggest that praising children can reduce
disruptive behavior in class and stimulate learning. It was difficult to narrow the
result of this achievement to the praise itself or to teacher s attention and special
privileges. At the time of this publication no study has isolated the effects of praise
by itself with this type and setting. Praise has been noted to be varied and exhibit
different results at times praise has had an adverse effect on learning while in
other settings it has been a great catalyst. One study suggests that praise directed at
an activity rather than a person can be a factor for the different outcomes observed.
That praising on activity gives specific insight to overcoming problems and is
beneficial for future situation that will require problem solving skills. The reason
for this maybe that children don t always experience success and personal praise
will have the opposite affect at this point. They will begin to equate non success
with being incompetent, bad and unworthy. Studies suggest that females maybe
more at risk for the adverse effects of personal praise following setback or failures.
Research has found that females tend to accept evaluative feedback more so than
males. They perceive this feedback as an accurate reflection of their abilities, while
males rely more on their internal belief of their abilities. In a

Essays On Sustainable Development

  • 1. Essays On Sustainable Development Writing an essay on the topic of sustainable development can be both challenging and rewarding. The complexity arises from the interdisciplinary nature of the subject, requiring a comprehensive understanding of environmental science, economics, social dynamics, and political structures. Crafting a well-rounded essay involves delving into the intricacies of sustainable practices, exploring the global and local implications, and analyzing the role of various stakeholders. One of the difficulties lies in synthesizing information from diverse sources to present a cohesive argument. Sustainable development encompasses a wide range of issues, from renewable energy and biodiversity conservation to poverty alleviation and social equity. Weaving these elements together while maintaining logical flow and coherence is a delicate task. Moreover, the dynamic nature of the field poses a challenge. Sustainable development is an evolving concept, with ongoing debates and emerging paradigms. Staying updated with the latest research findings and incorporating them into the essay adds an extra layer of complexity. Addressing the ethical dimension is another hurdle. Balancing economic development with environmental stewardship and social justice requires navigating through ethical dilemmas. This involves careful consideration of values, cultural contexts, and differing perspectives on what constitutes a sustainable future. Despite the challenges, writing an essay on sustainable development offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the discourse on pressing global issues. It allows for critical thinking and the exploration of innovative solutions to complex problems. By overcoming these challenges, one can create a piece that not only informs but also inspires action towards a more sustainable and equitable world. • 2. Essay On The Boston Tea Party There were many events that led to the American Revolution. However, the most significant event that started the revolution was the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party is the most crucial event that took place because it started rebellious actions, it led to a chain of events which eventually caused the war to start, and it riled up many people. The first reason why The Boston Tea Party, which is also called the Midnight Raid, is the most significant event leading up to the American Revolutionis because it started rebellious actions. The Boston Tea Party started as a protest against the British taxing the American colonists tea. On December 16th, 1773, an association of around seventy men organized by Samuel Adams climbed aboard three British ships. This group of seventy men can also be identified as the Sons of Liberty. They were dressed as Mohawk or Narragansett Indians that would disguise them. They thought this would deceive the British into thinking they were Native Americans and not the Americans. It is accounted that they wore an Indian dress, which contained blankets or ragged clothing with soot rubbed on their faces. Once aboard the ships, the men dumped 342 chests of English tea into the Boston Harbor. They did this as a reaction to the Stamp Act, which put taxes on paper items and tea, and because of taxation without representation. The tea that they dumped out was valued at around eighteen thousand dollars and was over ninety two thousand pounds. They

  • 4. Hockey Players Are Pretty Good People So this brings up my first point and ethical dilemma; is it right for the NHL to put their players in this town? One can argue that is not the responsibility of the NHL to control the actions of their players, however, is it a good idea to even present the opportunity for a millionaire athlete to be tempted by this excessive town, that is Las Vegas? Generally, hockey players are pretty good people, including professionals playing in the NHL, or instance; P.K. Subban, current Nashville Predator, and former defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens made an outstanding donation of $10 million dollars to the Montreal Children s Hospital. Nick Foligno, Captain of the Columbus Blue Jackets also donated $1 million dollars to the Boston Children s Hospital after they treated his daughter for a congenital heart disease, supporting the positive reputation of the players, being mostly, kind hearted and generous guys off the ice. On the contrary, hockey players are known to have a bit of a reputation for being partiers, Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane has often been spotted having a few more beverages than he should in downtown Chicago, he also got in trouble with the law back in the summer of 2009 for an altercation with a cab driver over $0.20 cents. Not to say that every NHL player that visits, or plays in Las Vegas will be a drug addict and get arrested. Nonetheless, by the NHL placing the Golden Knights franchise in Las Vegas, it presents a lot of temptation for these young

Measuring The Concentration Of Unknown Substances Essay Measuring Molarity by Two Different Titration Authors: Seungchan Lee, Emily Lemchuk, Le, Linh, Jacob Lawhorn, Francis Esuon, Dr. Breece, CHM 144 D, 2016 11 02 Introduction: The significance of titration is to find out the concentration of unknown substances. There are different kinds of titration and this experiment consists of two kinds of titration. The traditional titration uses the phenolphthalein indicator dye to determine the concentration by color change. The modern titration uses pH electrodes. The chemical reaction H3C6H6O7(aq)+3OH (aq)в†’3H2O(l)+C6H5O7(aq) is used to determine the moles of citric acid from the moles of NaOH. The main scientific objective of the experiment is to determine the molarity of two different sodas by traditional titration and modern titration respectively. Methods: Traditional method with the use of phenolphthalein indicator dye A ring stand with the buret was set up, and then a large waste beaker was placed under the buret. The buret was rinsed with distilled water. A clean 150mL beaker was used to obtain approximately 100mL of 0.0474 M NaOH solution. The buret was rinsed by sodium hydroxide. The buret was filled with sodium hydroxide by a clean funnel. The funnel was removed, and the stopcock was opened for a short time. The level of the solution was lowered. The leaking was checked, and then the initial volume of sodium hydroxide solution was recorded. The carbonic acid in the soda was previously removed by boiling. Prior to each

  • 7. Analysis of the Orangutan Pongo Pygmaeus Essay Analysis of the Orangutan Pongo Pygmaeus The orangutan, Pongo pygmaeus, is an ape that is found in the moist, coastal rainforests of Sumatra and Borneo which consists of Indonesia s Kalimantan provinces, Malaysia s Sabath and Sarawak, and the kingdom of Brunei Darussalam. Orangutans live in tropical rainforests and are arboreal primates meaning that they are tree dwelling. Orangutans construct nests in the tree branches for the night in which they will curl up and sleep. These nests are made out of leaves and branches and they will sometimes use a leaf as a roof to protect themselves from the rain. Orangutans are omnivores, which means they eat a variety of meat and plants. They primarily eat fruit, leaves and small animals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The hierarchy among orangutans is the Noayu, which is where there is a solitary male . There is marked sexual dimorphism among the orangutans. Females weigh only half as much as the males. Being lighter, females and juveniles often stay in the trees. Not only is there a noticeable difference in size, but males also possess quite a few different characteristics than female orangutans do. For example, males have big cheek pads and facial hair that resembles a man s moustache and beard. The numbers or orangutans have recently dropped tremendously owing to loss of habitat to deforestation and the killing of females for their young, to be sold as pets or zoo animals. Fewer than 30,000 individuals are believed to remain in the wild, and the species is listed as endangered (Galdkias, 1987) In relation to my observation, the orangutans acted very similar in captivity as if they were in the wild. The space was limited, but for what they had to work with, they displayed many of the behaviors they would have given they were in the wild. I noticed that the males remained solitary, as proven in my research. In one instance, Kiko approached his sister and they groomed for a short amount of time, and Kiko went into a different section of the enclosure and remained by himself until the end of my observation. Junior, the dominating male, and father of Kiko, also stayed confined to himself. There was absolutely no interaction between Junior
  • 8. A Close Reading Of Millay s I, Being Born A Woman And... Dispassionate Passion: A Close Reading of Millay s I, Being Born a Woman and Distressed Edna St. Vincent Millay s I, Being Born a Woman and Distressed traces the physical and psychological venture of a woman as she indulges in the passion of a one night stand. Throughout the sonnet, literary elements function to facilitate the emergence of a paradox surrounding the speaker s existence as both an active subject and a passive object in the encounter described. In analyzing the woman s experience, the tone of the poem principally informs its paradoxical nature. For, while the notion of passion is conventionally associated with powerful and overwhelming emotion, the speaker s tone is consistently calm and subdued when alluding to it. As evidence of this, one must recall the manner in which she establishes her sexual desire for her anonymous lover: [I] am urged by your propinquity to find Your person fair, and feel a certain zest... (lines 3 4) Within these lines, as in the rest of the sonnet, the use of diction is extremely composed. The denotation of the word propinquity communicates a nearness or closeness in space between the two, yet its use in this setting also connotes an emotional distance due to its intellectual complexity. Although the woman states that she is distressed, undone, and of [clouded] mind, her careful and formal phraseology fails to correlate with these claims of dishevelment (lines 7 8). In fact, without the presence of charged and

  • 10. Socio-political evaluation of the Iranian Revolution of... The intensity of the Iranian revolution of 1978 1979 and the suddenness with which it appeared surprised many people both in Iran itself and in the rest of the world. The Shah s autocratic political system was solid, his loyal army was strong. Iran had a thriving economy and a wealthy middle class. Why did, then, Irango through an Islamic state? How and why the traditional Shi`i ulama in particular, came to lead the opposition to the Shah in the late 1970s? The Shah ultimately lost his throne because his policies had frustrated and alienated nearly all sectors of Iranian society including the emerging middle class, the bazaaris, the peasants, the working class, the urban poor and the ulama. During the revolutionary struggle, all major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The power of the ulama increased during the Qajar era. As the Safavid power declined in the seventeenth century however, some of the ulama began to deny the religious legitimacy of the Shah s power, and to claim that the Mujtahids had a better right to rule. (Keddie, 1972,p.221). This can be seen as the beginning of a new era in state ulama relations and indicate that the ulama found themselves drawn increasingly into a political role. The weakness of the Qajar rule in the face of increasing European power and its decentralization left many important powers in the hands of the ulama virtually all education, most legal, welfare and charitable matters. (Keddie, 1981,p.24). In the late Qajar period state absorption of (awqaf) and private appropriation of endowments constituted major themes in Land relations (Akhavi, 1980,p.56). Accordingly, the ulama began to participate, to commit themselves, in the strictly political arena. Their opposition took the two forms of legal and constitutional protest, and direct involvement of religious leader in demonstrations, strikes, taking sanctuary, etc. The first form of protest, which can be seen as the most notable case, was the Tobacco revolt of 1891. At the same time, a group of traditional urban middle class (the bazaaris) have participated in this event. The Pahlavi shahs viewed the bazaar as an impediment to the modern society that they wished to
  • 11. Essay about Juvenile Recidivism Introduction: Recidivism or, habitual relapses into crime, has time and time again proven to be an issue among delinquents, which thereby increases the overall juvenile prison population. This issue has become more prevalent than what we realize. Unless a unit for measuring a juvenile s risk of recidivism is enacted and used to determine a system to promote effective prevention, than the juvenile prison population will continue to increase. Our court system should not only focus on punishing the said juvenile but also enforce a program or policy that will allow for prevention of recidivism. So the question remains, how can recidivism in the juvenile prison population be prevented so that it is no longer the central cause for increased... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only this but, offenders who commit new offenses after court contact are at risk for a variety of poor developmental and life course outcomes, including school failure, out of home placements, occupational marginality, and long term involvement in criminal activity (Schwalbe 2004). As seen here, this is a downward spiral. Active reform has never before been at such a demand. As recidivism and juvenile delinquency continues to increase, not only will national crime rates and juvenile prison populations inflate, but the diminishing of an educated, safe, and economically stable society will also be affected regrettably. If juveniles whom continue to commit repeat criminal offenses lack school initiative, family support, and job exposure, than relatively as recidivism and juvenile criminal activity increases, our nation s standard of living will consequently lower. For those who are simply interested in the costs, it may be fairly surprising. It is a common and misconceived ideal that incarceration is a cheap and easy way to contain criminals, in this case juveniles. However, due to the fact that the incarceration itself has not in any way hindered criminal activity rates or decreased juvenile recidivism, taxpayers are simply investing more money into these detention facilities and court proceedings than what is realized. Let s look at a specific detention facility for example. The Cook

  • 15. Determining The Success Of A Restaurant Business The menu is the fundamental element in determining the success of a restaurant business. Each customer may have their individual dietary preferences, but the basis of a menu depends on universal requirements in human nature. A human is intrinsically an omnivore with a diet of both meat and plant proteins. The omnivore s paradox or dilemma refers to the contradiction of omnivores having both the sense of neophilia, the inclination and craving for exploration and variation but at the same time limited by neophobia, the fear of the uncertainty of a foods edibility. The incorporation principle referring to how a food effects a person physically and psychologically. The omnivore s paradox raises the issue of how a chef can create a menu that is both interesting and sellable, catering to the balance of mankind s fear of danger and need of novelty, and how the dishes they produce can meet and exceed the customer s expectations. • 17. Music And Music Essay Music can be a very influential and profound aspect in people s lives. It has become such an impactful part in places all around the world and people are interested to know how it truly affects people cognitively, especially in children. Generally, people don t tend to think about how many things that we learn in our childhood such as the ABC s and creating a song to know and remember the days of the week, have incorporated musicon a small scale. More closely, being involved in music especially in a hands on way, is a very crucial part in cognitive development because it helps advance parts of the brain responsible for things such as language proficiency, motor skills, linguistic abilities, and speech development, yet it also helps process certain sounds in a way you may not have otherwise heard (Locker 14). This is such a meaningful topic to explore because it is something so simple that can help improve numerous parts of your brain and how it is developed. Music can really help change the way your brain is developed as well as the way you process information. In an article on Time, Melissa Locker talks about how being involved in a music class or playing a musical instrumentcan have major benefits all around cognitively. Locker was in contact with a woman, Nina Kraus, who conducted an experiment with her team at Northwestern about how being actively involved and engaged with music, whether in a class setting or not helped more than just listening to music or attending a

While many people take having a roof over their head for granted, there is a plethora of people that have no place to call home. However, America has become a place where Social Darwinism is vastly accepted, leaving several people that are homeless with limited resources. In January 2013, 610,042 people were homeless on a given night. Most (65 percent) were living in emergency shelters or transitional housing programs and 35 percent were living in unsheltered locations (Cortes, Morris, Henry, 2013, p.1). A SWOT Analysis is a diagram that considers organizations internal competencies (strengths and weaknesses) and external developments (opportunities and threats) affecting the institution (Van Wijngaarden, Scholten, Van Wijk, 2012). Therefore a SWOT analysis for PMH s satellite clinic project includes the following strengths: PMH current rural health clinic is successful and provides patients with increased access to outpatient health care services even after business hours and on weekends; offers a patient portal for customers to electronically access their health information; and gives patients access to rotating specialty care services (i.e. podiatry, nephrology, and surgery) (PMH, n.d.). Also, PMH has built strong relationships throughout Pocahontas County that increases public perceptions for their institution and acceptability for the developing of new business ventures (PMH, n.d.). Finally, PMH has an in house billing center that assists patients with their health care payments and offers a Payment Assistance Program to those patients who have difficulty paying their bills (PMH, n.d.). MonГЎe (along with fellow Wondaland member Jidenna) made headlines yesterday for marching in Philadelphia against police brutality, and this song sounds like an extension of that march. • 27. Genesis 1-2 Wayne Belleville Analysis 1)What were the author s three strongest points? What makes them strong? In my opinion, one of the author s strongest points come from her treatment of Genesis 1 2. She convincingly presents an argument for equality and sameness regarding male /female roles in the creation account (26). For example, Belleville notes that both the man and the woman were given the commission to be fruitful and multiple, as well as have dominion over the earth (26), thus they are given equal standing/position from God at the beginning. Additionally, Belleville presents the idea that if there was any submission taking place in the creation account, it was both man and woman submitting to the commission of their creator, God (30). This point proves strong I believe,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you. In Britain, an estimated 80% of couples live together before getting married. Australia is just behind at 77%. The reason given by many couples who cohabit is that they believe they will increase the chances of success when they eventually marry. However, research has shown that this idea is a fallacy. And it flies against God s intention that men and women be sexually joined together only in marriage. Here s what some of the research reveals: Although most theories of marital choice predict that cohabitation would increase the stability of later marriage for those couples who marry, evidence to date suggests the opposite; couples who cohabit before marriage seem to end their marriages at significantly higher rates than couples who never lived together before the wedding (Demography, August 1995, p.438). Some studies put the divorce rate at 50% higher for couples who cohabit; others put it as high as 80%. In America roughly 40% of cohabiting couples break up before marriage. Many couples apparently move in together intending to marry later. One study revealed that 70% of women moved in with a man with marriage on their minds (Adams,S. amp; Young,B., The 10 Commandments of Dating, 1999, p.110). Many people who choose to live together before marriage show that they are reluctant to commit to a relationship and want to keep their options open. • 35. A Common Problem Today For Adolescent Christians A common problem today for adolescent Christians is the lack of intimacy with God, and not fully experiencing Christ in their lives. The solution to this problem can be found in the spiritual disciplines. Spiritual disciplines are practices that aid in transforming believers into the image of Christ, and help them to develop a more intimate relationship with Christ. They help to bring a Christian into the presence of God, and to bring them a portion of heaven. According to Isaac Ambrose, an English Puritan minister from the seventeenth century, spiritual disciplines are the vehicles to God. He said: ...the saints look upon duties (the Word, Sacraments, Prayers, etc.) as bridges to give them a passage to God, as boats to carry them into the bosom of Christ, as means to bring them into more intimate communion with their heavenly Father, and therefore are they so much taken with them (Schwanda 1). Ambrose argued that through spiritual disciplines, one could experience an intimate relationship with God. The spiritual disciplines are broken into three categories, inward, outward, and corporate. From these three categories, the three main focuses are meditation, service, and worship. Through the application of these three spiritual disciplines, the main goal is to enter a deeper, more intimate relation with Christ and to be shaped into the image of Christ. The first spiritual discipline is meditation. According to WordNet, meditation is the continuous and profound

It can be assumed that human error played a large factor in the results of this experiment; we did keep it controlled by letting only one person measure the x value of the rubber band. This way only one judgement will be written down in our results rather than multiple which will confuse. I also believe we rushed and did too much one our first go with temperature. As a result, massive resource shortages, natural disasters, an increased likelihood of epidemics and disease outbreaks, as well as negative impacts on a wide range of socioeconomic factors are expected (Podesta, J., Ogden, P., 2008). These effects have demonstrated and are continually expected to have the strongest impact on the disadvantaged in developing regions, namely, sub Saharan African countries and South Asia, in the future, despite a majority of the responsibility being credited to developed nations. In fact, between the years of 1850 and 2000, 30 percent of carbon emissions are credited to the United States, 27 percent is credited to countries in the European Union, and 7 percent to China (Macintyre, J., 2009). Firstly, climate change has been concluded to lead to an increased disaster rate. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), coastal areas, especially heavily populated mega delta regions in South, East, and Southeast Asia, will be at greatest risk due to increased flooding from the sea and, in some mega deltas, flooding from the rivers (Podesta, J., Ogden, P., 2008, pg. 117). Loyalty is one of the strongest bonds people can form and it shows in the play king Lear with many different characters. The first character that displays true loyalty throughout the whole play is the nobleman Kent. Even after the king banishes him from the kingdom Kent still finds his way back into the king s life and ends up being one of the few people that actually care about the king. Kent s loyalty towards the king was so strong he would even fight and confront anyone that treated his master wrongly. This is a true sign of loyalty and when everyone started abandoning Lear Kent was the constant at his side never wavering always there for Lear to lean on, this is true loyalty. A knave rascal, an eater of broken flesh, a base proud, shallow, beggarly, three suited, hundred pound, filthy worsted stocking knave (2.2.13 15). This quote again shows that anyone that disrespects the king in front of Kent will be sure to hear it from him and it speaks to his character. It shows that Kent is not afraid to stand up for what he thinks is right and that no matter what he will always be there for the king even if he doesn t have his powers. The next example of loyalty is the fool. He has been by Lear s side from the beginning and it is ironic that he is by his side when everyone else is gone. Prithee nuncle be contended tis a naught night to swim in (3.4.105) this quote shows that the fool is very close to the king as he calls him nuncle so he has been there through thick and thin with the king. It also shows his loyalty he followed the king out into the blistering cold for nothing only because he was loyal. He cared for the king and he wanted him to be safe and that is a great example of loyalty by the fool. The lesson Shakespeare delivers here is that there are very few people in life that would lay down their life for you and have absolute loyalty to you until the day you die, and those people
  • 42. Differences Between The Veldt Book And Movie Hannah Vu 8FA Many popular movies these days are based on world famous books and stories, like The Veldt by Ray Bradbury. Some movies may be very similar to its story, but usually they re quite different. This is usually caused because the movie will be too long if they try to include all the details that the book provides. But is it completely true? This is why I will be comparing a short story to it s short film, called The Veldt by Ray Bradbury. First, the characters, in this story they re five main characters, one of them being George Hadley, the father, George is striker in the story and consistent with his decision, and Lydia Hadley, the mother was really paranoid but became more laid back towards the end. In the movie though they switched roles. George was not consistent with his decisions and was very easygoing at the start of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The plot had some major differences as well as its similarities, for example, when Lydia was frightened by the lions and when Peter and Wendykilled their parents. The film did follow the same storyline and had the same plot but also had some slight differences here and there, for example ... In the story, George and Lydia found a wallet and a scarf in the nursery, but they found a purse in the movie. The children didn t land in the space ship and they didn t even mention the plastic carnival. There were no whining or jumping on couch s as referenced in the story when the kids heard the news about locking up the nursery, they just got mad and ran towards the nursery. When the Parents were supposedly chased by lions, Lydia wasn t crying, the story made it seem more dramatic than it appeared in the video. As well as Peter called George George in the movie instead of Father or Dad, this was not mentioned in the story, but it did show how he didn t really think of George as his Dad. There were also a little foreshadowing at the end when George told Lydia to RIP Rest in peace then shortly after they

Did stereotypical gender roles influence either party to proceed in a certain manner? Explain how they did or did not act stereotypically. No, gender roles did not influence either party to proceed in certain manners; it was about who can get Cam and how much she is willing to make to be a part of their organization. Regan wanted Cam because of her success rate in what she did, and knowing that he knew she was looking for a new position and was highly recommend by the CEO he was willing to give her a chance in a new position. Vince wanted Cam because of her success rate as well; however he was willing to offer Cam more money but less stability in which she will still be traveling, and not able to report to him directly, and with no room for growth. What social factors (such as reputation, the prior relationship between the parties, and their mutual ties to others in the organization, including the CEO) affected each person s power? The social factors that affected Regan was when he found out his other colleague Mangini knew that he was going to hire Cam, but then he decided to offer her another position with a higher salary. I know this is business, but that was a little dirty to do. Cam has been with the company for a longtime, therefore she has more of an advantage than others when applying for other positions. This is how she was able to get an offer from Regan being that he knew the CEO and he asked Regan to

Sintered Ceramic Materials Where Nc= number of molecules per unit cell (Z=8), A= molecular weight of Cu0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 (236.81 g.mole 1), Vc= unit cell volume (584.172x10 24cm3) and Na=Avogadro s number (6.023x1023 molecules.mole 1). The measured theoretical density (ПЃth) was found to be 5.3844g.cm 3. The apparent density of pellet specimens sintered at 850oC and 1050oC was measured by using Ultrapycnometer 1000 which was varified by Archimedes buoyancy Principle and was found to be 4.8 g.cm 3 and 5.02 g.cm 3 respectively. These densities were 91.38% and 93.23% of the theoretical values (% relative densities). Percentage porosity [59] of sintered pellet specimens was found to be 8.2% and 6.8% respectively. It is observed Cu0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 sintered ceramic composed of uniformly sized grains and is 93% relative density. The high sintered density can be attributed due to the small degree of agglomeration and fine nature of powder. The properties of sintered ceramic materials depend upon the sintered density and porosity of ceramic. It is well known that during sinteringof homogeneous materials, the porosity decreases and the microstructures of the material develop, depending upon the morphology, agglomeration and sintering conditions. The Cu0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 specimen sintered at 850oC has lower %relative density as compared to specimen sintered at 1050oC. Surface morphology Figure 5 shows the SEM images of Cu0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 synthesized powder dried at 90oC in vaccum (Fig.5a) and calcined at 850oC for 4h
  • 45. Climate Change Brings Great Risk For World Wide Security In addressing the facts that the Pentagon is unveiling that climate change brings great risk for world wide security (Banerjee, Hennigan, 2014). As the Pentagon analyst I take great pride in giving the conclusion that we as a society needs to take climate change seriously. In the Pentagon plan they are taking great preparation so they can be cost effective. In the article they are using satellite images that portray that the southwestern countries have hot spots that could carry high levels of methanethat can become hazardous for humans and animals health issues (Banerjee, Hennigan, 2014). Corresponding to the article it seems like they are trying to stop the founding to the Pentagon which I have the confidence in using all of our resources that we as a whole nation can help slow down the global warming. The general issue of climate changeis that no one really wants to learn about it, until it effects there home town. By this phase learning about climate change will be too late, and after the event. In the article glaciers will most defiantly disappear by the middle of century and add to rising sea levels, expert warns, the issues with climate change that it doesn t affect one thing it causes risk of sudden avalanches of rocks and soil released from the ice, and the major affect that it will make sea levels rise by the effects of glaciers melting (Jowit, 2009). According, to Juliette Jowit man made emissions, are the leading cause for glaciers melting, sea
  • 46. Correlation Between Males And Females On Average The goal of this paper is to determine who is more motivated between males and females on average in reading. In one study females were considered more motivated and exhibited higher mastery in reading. There were several factors that contributed to this conclusion, some being biological and distinctly different from genderto gender. Boys were usually assessed as less developed mentally and developing in different sequences as their femalecounterparts. The corpus callosum was 20% bigger in females than males. These connect the two hemispheres of the brain. Couple this with these facts together explains why females tend to be better communicators than males. Boys generally express their feeling with action whereas girls are able to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There have been mixed results on how it affects children s motivation and achievement. The results from the study suggest that praising children can reduce disruptive behavior in class and stimulate learning. It was difficult to narrow the result of this achievement to the praise itself or to teacher s attention and special privileges. At the time of this publication no study has isolated the effects of praise by itself with this type and setting. Praise has been noted to be varied and exhibit different results at times praise has had an adverse effect on learning while in other settings it has been a great catalyst. One study suggests that praise directed at an activity rather than a person can be a factor for the different outcomes observed. That praising on activity gives specific insight to overcoming problems and is beneficial for future situation that will require problem solving skills. The reason for this maybe that children don t always experience success and personal praise will have the opposite affect at this point. They will begin to equate non success with being incompetent, bad and unworthy. Studies suggest that females maybe more at risk for the adverse effects of personal praise following setback or failures. Research has found that females tend to accept evaluative feedback more so than males. They perceive this feedback as an accurate reflection of their abilities, while males rely more on their internal belief of their abilities. In a
