theorists and deterrence theorists with respect to the utility of criminal punishment.
Labeling theorists and deterrence theorists both aim to make conclusions about why
people commit crimes and why people continue to commit crimes over and over
again. Although they have similar end goals, the labeling theory and the deterrence
theory are very different in the approach that they take to get to the end result.
Deterrence theorists try to understand how punishment affects someone s desire or
willingness to commit a crime. There are two different types of deterrence: general
and specific deterrence. General deterrence aims to set a bar for what punishment a
crime can receive. A wider population is intended to be affected by general

Abstract The insurgency group of interest for this research paper is that of Chizuo
Matsumoto, aka Asahara Shoko, and the Japanese doomsday cult Aum Shinrikyo. The
reason behind the choosing of this particular group is to provide commentary to that

Syncretism
Aum Shinrikyo is a syncretism of Tibetan Buddhism and early Indian Buddhism,
and Hinduism, with Shiva, one of the main deities of Hinduism, as the main image
of worship. It also draws teachings from Yoga, Christianity s Book of Revelation,
and even some of the wisdom of Nostradamus. Since its establishment, Asahara
claimed to be that of a Christ like figure sent to take on the sins of the world for
man s salvation. He predicted a 1997 doomsday prophecy in the form of an
Armageddon like scenario where the United States would instigate World War III
with nuclear war being the culprit of the end of humanity. (Juergensmayer, 2007)
The early years: 1984 1989 Between 1984 and 1989 Aum Shinrikyo conducted
many recruitment endeavors and eventually was recognized as a religious
organization in 1989. Due to this status of being recognized as a religious group he
was able to act without the Japanese authorities having oversight. This was due to
the Religious Corporations Law that provided coverage for tax benefits, property
ownership, and protection from state. In the law it states that the organization is
protected against investigations of the religious activities and doctrine of the group.
However, that same year is when several incidences of bad press had come out
about the group. One case specifically was regarding the murder of an anti cult

Abstract
Machine vision is a high speed developing field in AI, and image identification is
becoming more and more important with higher and higher requires of AI. As a big
part of image identification, it is abviously necessary to develop better solution in
image segmentation, thus machine could identity objects easier. The division
technique for pictures based on Markov Random Field (MRF) demonstrate ready to
combine the contextual information from label pictures and statistical properties of
pictures to be segmented.
In this paper, we start from MRF theory, described the principle and methods of
MRF model, and discussed the advantages of using MRF model in image processing,
also concluded researches and experiences all of the world. And we summarized
some types of iterative algorithms of MRF models, also the features of these
algorithms are analyzed and compared. We also did some simulations of some typical
algorithms and the results were compared with traditional methods which
demonstrated that using MRF model could have better performance in segmentation.
