How Does The Alchemist Affect Santiago s Life
No matter what he does, every person on earth plays a central role in the history of the world.
And normally he doesn t know it, Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist. Everyone has an impact on
someone s life, some greater than others. In The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, Santiago meets
several people on his journey to find his treasure, however, the person who made the biggest
impact on his life is Melchizedek, King of Salem; he convinced Santiago to go on a journey to
find his treasure, and he taught him how to read and follow the omens. King Melchizedek has
greatly impacted Santiago s life. First, he convinced Santiago to go on the journey to find his
treasure. This was offered to Santiago by a gypsy; he thought it was a scam, so he refused

Vygotsky, Zone Of Proximal Development
According to Vygotsky, zone of proximal development, or abbreviated as ZPD, is a learning
concept that states a child cannot yet master alone even though they are close to having the
necessary mental skills; they need guidance from a skilled partner to complete the task. This
relates to his theory of general development because he believed social interaction plays an
important role in the process of cognitive development and as stated above, ZPD requires human
interaction to guide a child through what can be seen as a learningcurve. With this project where a
child has to do an easy puzzle (10 pieces or less) on their own versus a hard puzzle (50 pieces or
more) with the help of an adult, Vygotsky would predict that the child will be able... Show more

The second puzzle was a 50 piece puzzle that was a normal puzzle where he needed to complete
it to form an image. With the second puzzle, Joel struggled due to its size and it took him longer
than the first puzzle. While Joel was doing both puzzle, Miss Angie kept the atmosphere of the
place very warm, inviting and supportive by talking to him and asking him about his life. She
also cheered on him when he connected the right piece. For the first puzzle, Joel completed it in
just 5 seconds, so that rate of that is 1 piece per 1 second. Perhaps he had done that puzzle
already because when Miss Angie showed it to Joel, he said this one again? . For the second
puzzle, Joel completed it in 6 minutes (360 seconds), which is roughly 0.13 piece per second.
During the easy puzzle, the child task behavior and child motivation were more frequent than the
harder puzzle because with the harder puzzle, Joel was more distracted and not as focused as the
first puzzle and the sheer number of pieces made the process even more daunting than it was for
him. There was no adult motivation/task behaviors involved with the first puzzle, because it was
so easy that Joel completed it too quick for any interaction between Miss Angie and himself. But
for the harder puzzle, it was opposite, there were more of the adult motivation/task behaviors than
the first puzzle because Joel needed Miss Angle to be there to guide him through the

Teens And The Media Essay
Portrayal of Teens in the Media
The media, that giant intimidating creation has taken the stereotypes of teens, the way people
view teens, and the way we view ourselves, and has turned it into a delusional monster. The media
at this point in time portrays teenagers as generally bad. Well to be honest, not generally bad, but
mostly horrible. We are seen as the cause for alarmand trouble in society. The media portrays us as
manic delinquents with no solid past and no concrete future.
The main points of teenagers that are warped into a lie are appearance and generalization of
actions. The media spreads the idea that just because some teens choose to get more piercing done,
or a tattoo, or decide to get a different hair color that it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Teenagers are seen as immature and with no future. But are we not more mature than our adult role
models by not generalizing about them?
I admit that I personally know a few people that have made some choices that have resulted in
jail sentences and other consequences. Just because there are a few teenagers like that does not
mean that we are all alike in that aspect. Another misconception about teenagers is that the inner
city or black teens are involved in gangs. This is one of the lowest and cheapest
misinterpretations. Generalizing by race and where people live (and in turn generalizing because
of social class) makes me sick. I see this as a pitiful portrayal and a complete lie.
The media also portrays teens as spending their time doing nothing. They put us in shows and in
commercials in groups of three or four, complete with the previously discussed tattoos and loose
pants, just sitting around doing nothing. They send the message across that we are basically just a
quot;crime waiting to happen. quot; Which is not the case. About 98% of the teens I know
responsibly arrange and map out their plans. Very few of them sit around with no job waiting to do
something wrong. Another part of this misinterpretation is the attitude of teenagers in general. The
media portrays general teenage attitude (which is portrayed as hating all forms of authority and not
wanting to listen to anyone) as going hand in hand with crime and delinquency.

What Does Patriotism Mean To Me Essay
As of now, the country is continually modifying itself due to the upcoming generations and the
changes around the world. In fact, it is shaping its attention to the needs of the people and for this
reason, patriotism is shown due to the approach the leaders of this country have taken towards the
circumstances that arise from time to time. In fact, patriotismis often shown because of how an
individual comes into a concurrence and opts to love their country for what they have accomplished.
As previously stated, patriotism occurs when one is proud of what the country s current
achievements have been. As well, it implies that as an individual you view the accomplishments
and failures of the country to see how it has taken the matter of the circumstances into their hands
to able themselves to perform better for the future ahead. For instance, throughout the history of the
United States of America, we can observe how treaties have been established with neighboring ...

endurance. For this reason, as a family, we gather up and thank God for the wonderful privilege
He has given us to live in this country that has been a grand blessing to us and has made all of us

The Comparison Of Godot, By James Beckett
There is a vast literature on interpretations of Godot, encompassing Christian and anti Christian
religion, Freudian and Jungian psychology, and a kitchen sinkful of esoteric and obscure isms. The
undeniable fact is that no one really knows what Godot is about, and the playwright himself clearly
believed that the core of his art lay in the ambiguities resulting from the absence of information,
saying that everything he knew about the characters was in the text and if he knew anything more
about the characters then he would have put it in the text. That Godot is more hole than doughnut
has made it an easy target of parody if not outright ridicule. Beckett evolved his unique literary
voice by distinguishing his style from that of his mentor James Joyce, whom he assisted during the
writing of Finnegans Wake. In almost exactly the opposite way, Joyce grounded his art in
fanatically perfectionist control of his work, leaving no missing pieces or rough edges in stuffing
his characters full to overflowing so that we the readers know more about them than they could
possibly know about themselves.
By far the best biography of Beckett, in my opinion, is by James Knowlson of the University of
Reading, whose 20 year friendship with the playwright led to the donation of notebooks,
manuscripts and other archival material that became the world s leading Beckett archive. Knowlson
s title taken from a passage in Beckett s notebooks is Damned to Fame, neatly encapsulating the

The first game of theirs that I was exposed to was Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the 5th game in
the Uncharted series. The realistic approach instantly hooked me. Not only were the character
models realistic, but they acted like real people too. Like movies, there is a director, but games
can have two specific directors: a technical director, whose focus is gameplay, and the creative
director, who focuses on the story. Unlike movies, multiple directors need to work together to
blend the story and gameplay to keep players engaged. One of Naughty Dog s most popular
games, and possibly my favorite game, The Last of Us is a perfect blend of story and gameplay.
The Last of Us fits into the survival horror genre in a zombie apocalypse scenario, limiting the
player s resources to fight and defend themselves which works effectively within the story. It
develops every character thoroughly, even minor ones, as well as their relationships with one
another. Gameplay and story work together to explain why the world they live in is so brutal, and
why characters work so hard to

Metaphors In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
The poem, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, is about a man walking in the woods, and he
comes upon a fork in the road. He is forced to choose on path. The speaker is not able to see
down the path. He chooses the path that seems to have been walked on before. At the end of the
poem, the speaker is reflecting on his decision. He regrets the path he took and says that in the
future he tell the story as if he took the path less taken. This poem is an extended metaphor. The
message of the poem is that in life someone must make choices in which he or she doesn t know
what will come of it. In the future he or she will look back on that choice and enjambment. Within
the poem, Robert Frost uses repetition and uses rhymescheme to enhance the poetry. These devices
help to illustrate the meaning of the poem that Robert Frost is trying to get across to the reader.
Furthermore, the man in the poem is walking in a yellow wood (line 1). The forest is a metaphor
for life. The speaker is walk through life and he comes to a fork in the road. The two paths are
two different choices the speaker can choose. He is not able to see where the path will go. The
woods where the paths continue is unknown. The paths had wore them really about the same . This
means that they pretty much look the same. This unknown rest of the path is the future that is
made after the speaker makes that choice. Once the speaker makes a choice, he may not be able to
go back. The speaker regrets his decision

Reading a novel can change the way of thinking forever. As everyone knows that most of the
composition in the whole world always have their value on their own. But only some of them can

open our eyes and uplift our mind. Most people consider that Frankenstein is one of them. But there

the story that the writer want to tell readers. And the obvious main theme of Frankenstein is a

punishment of human is a solitariness. Most of the characters in this novel have to face with a
suffering in their life from being alone, for instance, Beaufort, Walton, Victor, and Monster. It
leads to a wrong social value that human can t live their life without friends and be ashamed to

In present day Sarajevo alongside the Miljacka River there used to be commemorative footprints

the man who took not only the life of an Archduke, but also the lives of many more during World

He was partially correct. The assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand by Gavrilo Princip did
not cause World War I; instead it served as one of the contributing factors to the start of the war.

This immediately left no hope for the Turks to regain their lands; however, Bosnians would now

it is thought by some that the Austrians were just exercising their right as a sovereign power.
Turkey was paid a settlement in cash from the Austrians and much of Europe calmed down,
except for the Serbians who wanted the territory as their own. On October 8, 1908, two days after
the annexation, the founding of a semi secret society called Narodna Odbrana occurred. They met
in the City Hall in the city of Belgrade. Many of these men were Serbian ministers, government
officials, and generals. The group was founded to give a purpose to Pan Slavism and to recruit and
train for a potential war with Austria. Anti Austrian propaganda was spread and spies of the
Narodna Odbrana were now operating in the Austrian provinces. One year later, in 1909, Austria
asked the Serbian government to put a stop to their revolution against Austria. The Narodna
Odbrana was forced to listen and instead they concentrated on education and propaganda in Serbia.
Many members of the Narodna Odbrana were not happy with this and decided to form a new,
completely secret, organization. On May 9, 1911, ten men met together to form the Ujedinjenje ili

The Juvenile Justice System And Juveniles
When it comes to discussing the criminal justice system and juveniles, there have been many
landmark cases that have made a significant impact on the juvenile justice system. The cases
arise from dealing with certain aspects that comes from handling juveniles entering the system.
Since juveniles are very different from adults they have to deal with them a certain way and a
case by case basis. The court cases concerning juveniles and the decisions that have come from
them is what has made what the juvenile justice system is today. Juveniles are not treated the
same as adults since juveniles are not ad developed as adults common sense wise. They don t
always know what is right from wrong and sometimes they do not have guidance or good
influences around them helping them in the right direction. In class we have learned that instead of
punishing them, the goal of the juvenile justice system is based on rehabilitation. For instance,
juveniles cannot be sentenced to death if under the age of 18 and also can not be given the
sentences of life without parole because they consider these punishments cruel and unusual for
juveniles. If the system is able to rehabilitate them and give them the tools they need, they have a
second chance at changing their lives for the better and getting away from all of the crimes. They
rather try to send them to programs or to complete community service to better themselves instead
of giving them hard time. The court cases that I will discuss is what

Theseus And Phaedr The Value Of Family Loyalty
The value of family loyalty is important in any given society whether it s from 800 B.C. to 2016,
granted not all families work together the family members that show loyalty to one another tend to
be set up for admiration. All these different relationships are what makes a family, whether it s the
loyalty between Theseus and Phaedra or you re Theseus cursing his son into exile. The Athenian
hero Theseus, took part in many adventures and so many enterprises. He helps the Argives after the
War of the Seven against Thebes, when the Thebans refused to allow the defeated to bury their
dead, he helps Oedipusand his daughters, and prevents Hercules from killing himself after his
insanity. Theseus fights the Amazons twice, once attacking them, once defending their attack on
Athens and marries their queen,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though that wasn t showing loyalty to his own son he was showing loyalty to his wife. I
believe that this would still apply to today s society or at least should apply. There are so many
stories of women not being believed when they share their story of rape which is awful. Like any
good human should, one would hope that the woman s story is the side taken and the offender sent
into exile.
Another example of Theseus showing his loyalty is to his father when he goes on his quest to find
him. It s pretty uncommon for a child to want to go find their father after he abandoned him his
whole life. But he understands the importance of loyalty to his family. This commonly relates to
kids that grow up without a parent or parents that choose to go and find them, despite the
abandonment.
The lesson to be learned in these mythology myths is no matter what is thrown at your family, it is
important to keep loyalty in mind, any family can take this lesson into account to keep a strong

Fernandina were all islands Christopher Columbus named although they already had names and
didn t belong to him nor the Spanish monarchy. These actions proved themselves dangerous to
the Natives a few years after Columbus arrival, as they were forced into slavery, Those left

Hook demands respect from shipmates although he continually disrespects the crew throughout
Peter Pan as well as Hook. Both men use their illusion of power to strike fear into the people

him without contradicting his statements. In particular, Mr. Smee who plays the role of Hook s
assistant, is always nervous when Hook calls for Smee s attention. Correspondingly, Bartolome
de las Casas wrote in The devastation of the Indies: Hispaniola on page 42, ... [ Indians]
concealed their wives and children and still others fled to the mountains to avoid the terrible

on the Islands with Spanish soldiers. The illusion of power these men possessed lead them to be
rude to their shipmates and others as a sign of superiority. Captain Hook is especially rude to his
shipmates who he would occasionally shoot or injure in both, Peter Pan and Hook. Christopher

from the International front. Jonah Blank puts it into simple words as to what the two nations view
regarding Kashmir: Politicians in both capitals see only the Kashmir they desire to see: for
Pakistanis, a Muslim land pining to join its Islamic neighbor and welcoming the intervention of
mujahideen; for Indians, a state ravaged by terrorism and sedition but now largely brought under
control. Both visions are clouded by self delusion.

The Importance Of Special Needs Children
When I was younger you could have asked me what I wanted to be and you would think that it
might have been the same answers every little girl gives. But not me. I was different, I didn t
want to be a princess, a celebrity, an astronaut or even a famous singer. No, I wanted to be a
special needs teacher. People have asked me, Why teach special needs kids? And I simply tell
them, There is something special about them that makes me want to be around them. I want to
help them learn new things . Kids with special needs hold a big portion of my heart. Why? you
might ask. Well, special needs kids have always been extremely important to me. The number
one reason I love kids with special needs is because of my twin sister. My twin sister has a rare
syndrome called Smith Magenis Syndrome. It is especially rare for only one of the twins to have
the syndrome and the other one to not have it.
What is a sped it s a teacher who works and teaches kids that have special needs. Being a sped
teacher you have many duties and may be responsible for one or more kids. Sped teachers have
to teach and mentor students as a class, small groups or one on one. The most important thing a
sped teacher does, is asses the child s skills to determines their needs and to develop appropriate
teaching plans. All sped teachers plan, organize and assign activities that are tailored to each child s
learning ability. For each child their IEP is updated throughout the schoolyear to reflect the child s

For Centuries, Ink On Skin Has Been A Synonym For Social
For centuries, ink on skin has been a synonym for social markers, group identity, and perpetration
of traditions. Tattoos in the past were a permanent hallmark a stamp of authenticity and a mark of
permanent fidelity to a cause, a group, or to an identity. They were a loud statement of culture and
belonging. They served as amulets, symbols, and religious traditions. However, nowadays, tattoos
seem just the product of a capricious and vain pop culture. They seem cheap and easy souvenirs
from travel adventure, bachelorette parties, and army service. They seem a symbol of individualism
and capitalism.
With the advent of social media and computer industry, tattoo as shifted from being an expression of
traditional culture to being an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Cotter Mirabole (2003), to address the above questions properly, we need to take into
consideration the interests of the artists, the intellectual property rights owner, and the human
subject (p. 103). In other words, we need to address and resolve authorship and ownership issues.
We need to define the author and the owner of the original idea, the author and the owner of the
design on paper, and the author and the owner of the ink work on skin. Depending on the
circumstances, the author of the idea, the author of the sketch, and the author of the ink design
could be the body artist or the human canvas or both. In the same way, the owner of the idea, the
owner, of the sketch on paper, and the owner of the ink on the skin could be the body artist, or the
human canvas or both. Attribution of ownership and authorship of a tattoo is a very complex
matter because the work of art is permanent; the canvas is human flesh, and there is a clear
distinction between a tattoo and the drawings, sketches, or other works of art upon which a tattoo
is base (Minahan, 2015, p. 1727).
For example, in the case of a Disney themed tattoo, The Walt DisneyCompany has a protected
trademark on all the Disney images and characters. Thus, the body artist and the human canvas
cannot copy, tattoo, print, publicize, or paint a Walt Disney

Genetically Modified Organisms And Stem-Food Report
With reference to a recent news report analyse how genetically modified products are created and
evaluate the use of stem cells to combat disease.
Genetic modification is the manipulation of DNA in an organism. It involves extracting a gene
from one organism then inserting it into another organism that is usually of a different species but
can be the same. The genes can also be manufactured instead of being extracted from the organism.
Genetic modification can be done to plants, animals and even food. Genetically modified products
can benefit humans in many ways such as genetically modified plants can be used to reduce
vitamin deficiency (CGP A2 Level Biology Revision Guide, 2009).
In 2005, UK scientists developed a new strain of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, the agrobacterium tumefaciens insert the genes into the plant cells DNA which then creates
transformed rice plant cells. Now the rice plant cells grow on a selective medium. Only the
transformed rice plants will be able to grow due to them containing the marker gene which is
needed to grow on this medium (CGP A2 Level Biology Revision Guide, 2009).
Although golden rice is great in the way it helps with a vitamin A deficiency and in reducing
colour blindness, there are disadvantages, such as there are concerns that food from genetically
modified plants might harm people and fears that it could cross breed with and contaminate wild
rice (BBC Bitesize, 2017).
Evaluation of stem cells and other methods of genetic modification.
Stem cells are unspecialized cells which can develop into any cell. Stem cells then divide to
become specialized through a process called differentiation. Stem cells in humans are found in
early embryos and in a few places in adults (CGP AS Level Biology Revision Guide, 2008). Stem
cells are found in every human body in limited amounts and can be taken from adult tissues without
harm (Thought Co, 2017).
The two main types of stem cells are embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells. Most embryonic
stem cells are from IVF clinics that have been donated for research purposes with informed
consent from the donors. They do not come from fertilized eggs in a woman s body.

The Chrysalids, by John Wyndham
The Chrysalids by John Wyndham is a science fiction novel about a town that does not accept
difference. The novel takes place in a post nuclear time in the community of Waknuk. It describes
how human nature can be cruel and the act of acceptance which everyone strives for. David Strorm
morally and emotionally grows throughout the novelthrough character, setting, theme and plot.
Significant events that David experiences teach him both something about himself and the world he
lives in. When he firstly meets Sophie and realizes her difference, his aunt expressing that she does
not feel bad about her newborn that has a deviation and lastly when he, Petra and Rosalind flee
Waknuk.
The characters change drastically throughout the novel especially David Strorm. He changes from
the young innocent boy to an adult striving for his acceptance. David is brought up in a house
hold and community that teaches to not accept deviants. In his adolescence David starts realizing
that he is not like the others. He believes that it is ok to have differences, especially when he
meets Sophie and the way his community captures her sending her away because they believe she
is not the true image of the Lord. The essential quality of life is living, the essential quality of living

Similarities And Differences Between The Crucible And Mr Hale
In the play, The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, there are some similarities and differences between
Mr. Hale and I. Mr. Hale is a Reverend from Beverly, who s called to Salem by Reverend Parris to
help wake his daughter, Betty, who fell ill after being caught in the woods summoning the devil.
While dealing with accusations of witchcraft, Mr. Hale acts a certain way which can define his
character. When he first arrives in Salem he remains hopeful. Towards the middle of the play he
tries to help more by getting involved with the court trials, which ends up causing bigger
problems. At the end of the play, Mr. Hale notices the good in those who are in jail and goes out
of his way to help them. Overall, Mr. Hale s character is considered optimistic and valuable,
which relates to myself. When Mr. Hale was first introduced in the play, he maintained a
positive attitude and remained hopeful. After he arrived in Salem and heard rumors of witches
and the devil flying around, he informed the community that he ll control the situation and
destroy the devil. Have no fear now we shall find him out if he has come among us, and I mean
to crush him utterly if he has shown his face! (39). By hoping to clear up this mess, Mr. Hale
reads from his books with hope that it ll break Betty away from the devil and assuage the
situation entirely. I m like Mr. Hale in this case because when the worst may be brought upon
me, I remain hopeful that I can push through it. We both won t quit when we re faced with a
tough decision that doesn t have a clear solution, but instead we put our effort into solving
whatever the problem may be, before it gets any worse. As the play perseveres, more similarities
and differences between Mr. Hale and I surface. Quickly after Mr. Hale s arrival in Salem, the
situation regarding witchcraft escalates. Mr. Hale gets sucked into the middle of something which
didn t impact his life personally in the first place. As rumors of the devil spread around, more
names known to be seen with him are mentioned in the court. Mr. Hale takes it upon himself to
visit the houses of those who are accused of involvement in witchcraft. No no, I come of my own,
without the court s authority. Hear me. I know not if you are

The Early Signs Of Psychopathy
Running head: A CHILD PSYCHOPATH
A Child Psychopath
Alexandra Elizabeth Dolan
Peru State College and York High School
Abstract This paper explores research conducted within the Psychology classroom.
A Child Psychopath 1. What Are the Early Signs of Psychopathy?
2. What Motives in Early Childhood Can Cause Children to Commit Malicious Crimes?
3. Can Children Grow Out of Psychopathic Tendencies?
What Are the Early Signs of Psychopathy?
Although it is difficult to imagine a child being psychopathic, it is crucial that we are able to
recognize psychopathic behaviors in children. Mental health professionals say they could easily
detect early psychopathic tendencies in childhood, but do not want to actually label the child a
psychopath yet (Stenson, 2009). According to Duncan, it is difficult to imagine a child doing such
things because everyone automatically expects them to fit into the Innocent/ The Child archetype
(Schill, 2012).
It is basic knowledge that children tend to act out all the time, but when is the behavior of
children passed the line of normalcy and crossed the line into psychopathy? It is normal for a
child to be occasionally aggressive, but a child being constantly aggressive could possibly be a
sign of psychopathy (Stenson, 2009) According to Keysers, The feeling of empathy is what makes

Civil Disobedience And The Apartheid
Throughout history, civil disobedience has been used to bring about change across a wide variety
of civil rights issues. In India, Mahatma Gandhi used civil disobedience to nonviolently protest
against the British Raj and, after a thirty year struggle, earn independence both for himself and his
people. In the United States, Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. employed civil disobedienceto
overcome both the Jim Crow laws that had oppressed the African American minority and the
systemic racism that was once prevalent in the Southern United States. In South Africa, Nelson
Mandela utilized civil disobedience to lead an anti apartheid revolution to combat the apartheid
system that systemically discriminated against the black inhabitants of South Africa. All three of
these exemplary men have earned a Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts (the prize was not
awarded in 1948 because there was no suitable living candidate , a tribute to Gandhi who was
recently assassinated). Although violence could have been used to combat these civil rights
violations, all three of these individuals chose not to resort to violence, in favor of a more
amicable alternative: civil disobedience. Furthermore, all three of these cases help to demonstrate
that in democratic societies, civil disobedience is both a necessary and effective tool that brings
about deliberated change in both governmental and/or social systems without inciting violence.

Analysis Of Champion Of The World By Maya Angelou
Symbolism and Change in Sports Throughout the years, sports have become a major part of
society. Sports, a large percentage of the time, are a part of peoples lives in one way or another.
Whether they participate in them or just enjoy watching them, sports are a big deal to the majority
of people. There are also some individuals who have redefined the expectations when it comes to
certain sports. For instance, Babe Ruth redefined the way people think about baseball, or Michael
Jordan completely changing the game of basketball. But Joe Louis and Venus and Serena Williams
have changed their games in a way no one could have imagined. Although Champion of the
World by Maya Angelou and Woman Who Hit Very Hard and How They ve Changed Tennis by
Michael Kimmelman are different, they are similar in the ways they show how the respected
athletes, Joe Louis and the Williams sisters, changed the game and were seen using symbolism
in racial and sexual progression. In Champion of the World Maya Angelou writes about Joe
Louis road to success in how he changed boxing for his race. Angelou writes, This might be the

Bernardo is known as a Canadian serial killer and rapist, specifically in the southern Ontario area.
He came from a home of abuse and neglect. Despite his childhood, he graduated from University

In the end it brought the Civil War to the United States.
Historians have traditionally labeled the period after the War of 1812 the Era of good feelings .
Although Nationalism did exist between regions of the United States, this was just a façade.
Underneath this so called nationalism there was a great deal of regionalism also known as
sectionalism. Due to this great amount of sectionalism, the different way of living, the beliefs of
tariffs and slavery brought the country to divide.
There existed nationalism during The Era of Good Feelings . During the 4th of July everybody
celebrated as a nation the Independence of the United States (Document C). Artists like John
Krimmel painted art work showing how happy the United States celebrated the Independence. He
showed salves and salve owners all together celebrating this important feast. This way he showed
how the United States were all together celebrating the Nation s victory as a whole.
Although the United states did expressed Nationalism in some ways, all this was forgotten when
the country stated to divided it self into different sections with different believes. One of the great
differences between these sections was tariffs. Hohn Randolph of congress said in 1816, With my

Ralph Nader’s Life Lesson in The Seventeen Traditions
Ralph Nader s book, The Seventeen Traditions, discusses several traditions, seventeen in total,
which the author learned from his parents, siblings, and other individuals in the community and
draws certain inspiring life lessons for the current society. The book is genially human and full of
sensory chronicles. Through the key traditions outlined in the book, Nader looks back at his
Lebanese background and childhood experiences that directly shaped his worldview. This review
analyses some of the most significant traditions in the book such as familytable, independent
thinking, health, and business. These key traditions will also be vital in discussing the strengths
and weaknesses of the book.

family table. This tradition has some connections with my childhood experiences. Just like in the
author s case, my

And normally he doesn t know it, Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist. Everyone has an impact on someone s life, some greater than others. In The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, Santiago meets several people on his journey to find his treasure, however, the person who made the biggest impact on his life is Melchizedek, King of Salem; he convinced Santiago to go on a journey to find his treasure, and he taught him how to read and follow the omens. King Melchizedek has greatly impacted Santiago s life. First, he convinced Santiago to go on the journey to find his treasure. • 3. Vygotsky, Zone Of Proximal Development According to Vygotsky, zone of proximal development, or abbreviated as ZPD, is a learning concept that states a child cannot yet master alone even though they are close to having the necessary mental skills; they need guidance from a skilled partner to complete the task. This relates to his theory of general development because he believed social interaction plays an important role in the process of cognitive development and as stated above, ZPD requires human interaction to guide a child through what can be seen as a learningcurve. With this project where a child has to do an easy puzzle (10 pieces or less) on their own versus a hard puzzle (50 pieces or more) with the help of an adult, Vygotsky would predict that the child will be able... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second puzzle was a 50 piece puzzle that was a normal puzzle where he needed to complete it to form an image. With the second puzzle, Joel struggled due to its size and it took him longer than the first puzzle. While Joel was doing both puzzle, Miss Angie kept the atmosphere of the place very warm, inviting and supportive by talking to him and asking him about his life. She also cheered on him when he connected the right piece. For the first puzzle, Joel completed it in just 5 seconds, so that rate of that is 1 piece per 1 second. Perhaps he had done that puzzle already because when Miss Angie showed it to Joel, he said this one again? . For the second puzzle, Joel completed it in 6 minutes (360 seconds), which is roughly 0.13 piece per second. During the easy puzzle, the child task behavior and child motivation were more frequent than the harder puzzle because with the harder puzzle, Joel was more distracted and not as focused as the first puzzle and the sheer number of pieces made the process even more daunting than it was for him. There was no adult motivation/task behaviors involved with the first puzzle, because it was so easy that Joel completed it too quick for any interaction between Miss Angie and himself. But for the harder puzzle, it was opposite, there were more of the adult motivation/task behaviors than the first puzzle because Joel needed Miss Angle to be there to guide him through the ... • 4. Teens And The Media Essay Portrayal of Teens in the Media The media, that giant intimidating creation has taken the stereotypes of teens, the way people view teens, and the way we view ourselves, and has turned it into a delusional monster. The media at this point in time portrays teenagers as generally bad. Well to be honest, not generally bad, but mostly horrible. We are seen as the cause for alarmand trouble in society. The media portrays us as manic delinquents with no solid past and no concrete future. The main points of teenagers that are warped into a lie are appearance and generalization of actions. The media spreads the idea that just because some teens choose to get more piercing done, or a tattoo, or decide to get a different hair color that it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teenagers are seen as immature and with no future. But are we not more mature than our adult role models by not generalizing about them? I admit that I personally know a few people that have made some choices that have resulted in jail sentences and other consequences. Just because there are a few teenagers like that does not mean that we are all alike in that aspect. Another misconception about teenagers is that the inner city or black teens are involved in gangs. This is one of the lowest and cheapest misinterpretations. Generalizing by race and where people live (and in turn generalizing because of social class) makes me sick. I see this as a pitiful portrayal and a complete lie. The media also portrays teens as spending their time doing nothing. They put us in shows and in commercials in groups of three or four, complete with the previously discussed tattoos and loose pants, just sitting around doing nothing. They send the message across that we are basically just a quot;crime waiting to happen. quot; Which is not the case. About 98% of the teens I know responsibly arrange and map out their plans. Very few of them sit around with no job waiting to do something wrong. Another part of this misinterpretation is the attitude of teenagers in general. The media portrays general teenage attitude (which is portrayed as hating all forms of authority and not wanting to listen to anyone) as going hand in hand with crime and delinquency. On a ... In fact, it is shaping its attention to the needs of the people and for this reason, patriotism is shown due to the approach the leaders of this country have taken towards the circumstances that arise from time to time. In fact, patriotismis often shown because of how an individual comes into a concurrence and opts to love their country for what they have accomplished. As previously stated, patriotism occurs when one is proud of what the country s current achievements have been. As well, it implies that as an individual you view the accomplishments and failures of the country to see how it has taken the matter of the circumstances into their hands to able themselves to perform better for the future ahead. For this reason, as a family, we gather up and thank God for the wonderful privilege He has given us to live in this country that has been a grand blessing to us and has made all of us grow in different aspects. For example, because of the diversity that exists, it makes us open our minds to different ideals of others and have now conformed those of our own, which has led us to be gracious and proud of the great change it has had over the ... • 6. The Comparison Of Godot, By James Beckett There is a vast literature on interpretations of Godot, encompassing Christian and anti Christian religion, Freudian and Jungian psychology, and a kitchen sinkful of esoteric and obscure isms. The undeniable fact is that no one really knows what Godot is about, and the playwright himself clearly believed that the core of his art lay in the ambiguities resulting from the absence of information, saying that everything he knew about the characters was in the text and if he knew anything more about the characters then he would have put it in the text. That Godot is more hole than doughnut has made it an easy target of parody if not outright ridicule. Beckett evolved his unique literary voice by distinguishing his style from that of his mentor James Joyce, whom he assisted during the writing of Finnegans Wake. In almost exactly the opposite way, Joyce grounded his art in fanatically perfectionist control of his work, leaving no missing pieces or rough edges in stuffing his characters full to overflowing so that we the readers know more about them than they could possibly know about themselves. By far the best biography of Beckett, in my opinion, is by James Knowlson of the University of Reading, whose 20 year friendship with the playwright led to the donation of notebooks, manuscripts and other archival material that became the world s leading Beckett archive. Knowlson s title taken from a passage in Beckett s notebooks is Damned to Fame, neatly encapsulating the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Like movies, there is a director, but games can have two specific directors: a technical director, whose focus is gameplay, and the creative director, who focuses on the story. Unlike movies, multiple directors need to work together to blend the story and gameplay to keep players engaged. One of Naughty Dog s most popular games, and possibly my favorite game, The Last of Us is a perfect blend of story and gameplay. The Last of Us fits into the survival horror genre in a zombie apocalypse scenario, limiting the player s resources to fight and defend themselves which works effectively within the story. It develops every character thoroughly, even minor ones, as well as their relationships with one another. He is forced to choose on path. The speaker is not able to see down the path. He chooses the path that seems to have been walked on before. At the end of the poem, the speaker is reflecting on his decision. He regrets the path he took and says that in the future he tell the story as if he took the path less taken. This poem is an extended metaphor. The message of the poem is that in life someone must make choices in which he or she doesn t know what will come of it. In the future he or she will look back on that choice and enjambment. Within the poem, Robert Frost uses repetition and uses rhymescheme to enhance the poetry. These devices help to illustrate the meaning of the poem that Robert Frost is trying to get across to the reader. Furthermore, the man in the poem is walking in a yellow wood (line 1). The forest is a metaphor for life. The speaker is walk through life and he comes to a fork in the road. The two paths are two different choices the speaker can choose. He is not able to see where the path will go. The woods where the paths continue is unknown. The paths had wore them really about the same . This means that they pretty much look the same. The Juvenile Justice System And Juveniles When it comes to discussing the criminal justice system and juveniles, there have been many landmark cases that have made a significant impact on the juvenile justice system. The cases arise from dealing with certain aspects that comes from handling juveniles entering the system. Since juveniles are very different from adults they have to deal with them a certain way and a case by case basis. The court cases concerning juveniles and the decisions that have come from them is what has made what the juvenile justice system is today. Juveniles are not treated the same as adults since juveniles are not ad developed as adults common sense wise. They don t always know what is right from wrong and sometimes they do not have guidance or good influences around them helping them in the right direction. In class we have learned that instead of punishing them, the goal of the juvenile justice system is based on rehabilitation. For instance, juveniles cannot be sentenced to death if under the age of 18 and also can not be given the sentences of life without parole because they consider these punishments cruel and unusual for juveniles. If the system is able to rehabilitate them and give them the tools they need, they have a second chance at changing their lives for the better and getting away from all of the crimes. They rather try to send them to programs or to complete community service to better themselves instead of giving them hard time. The court cases that I will discuss is what ... In other words, we need to address and resolve authorship and ownership issues. We need to define the author and the owner of the original idea, the author and the owner of the design on paper, and the author and the owner of the ink work on skin. Depending on the circumstances, the author of the idea, the author of the sketch, and the author of the ink design could be the body artist or the human canvas or both. • 29. Similarities And Differences Between The Crucible And Mr Hale In the play, The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, there are some similarities and differences between Mr. Hale and I. Mr. Hale is a Reverend from Beverly, who s called to Salem by Reverend Parris to help wake his daughter, Betty, who fell ill after being caught in the woods summoning the devil. While dealing with accusations of witchcraft, Mr. Hale acts a certain way which can define his character. When he first arrives in Salem he remains hopeful. Towards the middle of the play he tries to help more by getting involved with the court trials, which ends up causing bigger problems. At the end of the play, Mr. Hale notices the good in those who are in jail and goes out of his way to help them. Overall, Mr. Hale s character is considered optimistic and valuable, which relates to myself. When Mr. Hale was first introduced in the play, he maintained a positive attitude and remained hopeful. After he arrived in Salem and heard rumors of witches and the devil flying around, he informed the community that he ll control the situation and destroy the devil. Have no fear now we shall find him out if he has come among us, and I mean to crush him utterly if he has shown his face! (39). By hoping to clear up this mess, Mr. Hale reads from his books with hope that it ll break Betty away from the devil and assuage the situation entirely. I m like Mr. Hale in this case because when the worst may be brought upon me, I remain hopeful that I can push through it. We both won t quit when we re faced with a tough decision that doesn t have a clear solution, but instead we put our effort into solving whatever the problem may be, before it gets any worse. As the play perseveres, more similarities and differences between Mr. Hale and I surface. Quickly after Mr. Hale s arrival in Salem, the situation regarding witchcraft escalates. Mr. Hale gets sucked into the middle of something which didn t impact his life personally in the first place. As rumors of the devil spread around, more names known to be seen with him are mentioned in the court. Mr. Hale takes it upon himself to visit the houses of those who are accused of involvement in witchcraft. No no, I come of my own, without the court s authority. Hear me. I know not if you are ... The Early Signs Of Psychopathy Running head: A CHILD PSYCHOPATH A Child Psychopath Alexandra Elizabeth Dolan Peru State College and York High School Abstract This paper explores research conducted within the Psychology classroom. Although it is difficult to imagine a child being psychopathic, it is crucial that we are able to recognize psychopathic behaviors in children. Mental health professionals say they could easily detect early psychopathic tendencies in childhood, but do not want to actually label the child a psychopath yet (Stenson, 2009). According to Duncan, it is difficult to imagine a child doing such things because everyone automatically expects them to fit into the Innocent/ The Child archetype (Schill, 2012). It is basic knowledge that children tend to act out all the time, but when is the behavior of children passed the line of normalcy and crossed the line into psychopathy? It is normal for a child to be occasionally aggressive, but a child being constantly aggressive could possibly be a sign of psychopathy (Stenson, 2009) According to Keysers, The feeling of empathy is what makes the ... • 37. Civil Disobedience And The Apartheid Throughout history, civil disobedience has been used to bring about change across a wide variety of civil rights issues. In India, Mahatma Gandhi used civil disobedience to nonviolently protest against the British Raj and, after a thirty year struggle, earn independence both for himself and his people. In the United States, Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. employed civil disobedienceto overcome both the Jim Crow laws that had oppressed the African American minority and the systemic racism that was once prevalent in the Southern United States. In South Africa, Nelson Mandela utilized civil disobedience to lead an anti apartheid revolution to combat the apartheid system that systemically discriminated against the black inhabitants of South Africa. All three of these exemplary men have earned a Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts (the prize was not awarded in 1948 because there was no suitable living candidate , a tribute to Gandhi who was recently assassinated). Although violence could have been used to combat these civil rights violations, all three of these individuals chose not to resort to violence, in favor of a more amicable alternative: civil disobedience. Furthermore, all three of these cases help to demonstrate that in democratic societies, civil disobedience is both a necessary and effective tool that brings about deliberated change in both governmental and/or social systems without inciting violence. Although Champion of the World by Maya Angelou and Woman Who Hit Very Hard and How They ve Changed Tennis by Michael Kimmelman are different, they are similar in the ways they show how the respected athletes, Joe Louis and the Williams sisters, changed the game and were seen using symbolism in racial and sexual progression. In Champion of the World Maya Angelou writes about Joe Louis road to success in how he changed boxing for his race. Angelou writes, This might be the end of the world. If Joe lost we were back in slavery and beyond help. It would all be true; the accusations that we were lower types of human beings. Only a little higher than apes.
