Pogroms according to OED, is an organized massacre of a particular ethnic group.
Additionally, pogrom is a word Russian which basically means to wreak havoc, to
demolish violently.[iv] Therefore, it can easily inferred from the definition of
Pogroms how the Igbo people began to feel insecure and unsafe in Nigeria after the
counter coup and government sponsored pogroms. For instance, Achebe in his book,
