It can almost be frightening. I know who I am and the things I say sometimes. After reading this
I know certain things I say or joke about would not be tolerated. Although I only ever talk to my

The novel The Road is a tale filled with evil and darkness with nights dark beyond darkness and

traverse. In this gray, dull worldthere is little in the way of color or lightto be seen. The sky has

Causes And Actions In Arthur Miller s The Crucible
The Crucible was written in 1953 by an American playwright named Arthur Miller. The play was
written about the Salem witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1692.
In the play, a jealous young girl who is angered by her ex lover deciding to be with his wife starts
a movement to accuse people of being witches in a last attempt to be with him. But the accusing
isn t the only time that falsehoods are told; instead, they are present throughout the play, deep in
the story, making people twist and turn to lay the blame on other people. Some of the characters
pretended to be possessed to avoid punishment, and others confessed to sins they never
committed. Those acts are just a few examples of the lies that took place throughout the story.
The key driving factor of all the actions and main plot elements that took place in Arthur Miller s
play, The Crucible, were driven by lies and deceit because all the actions throughout the play can
be routed back to them. Arthur Miller wrote this play at a time in America where people were
being persecuted for their political beliefs, especially communism, which the idea that all
property is publically owned and each person is paid based off their abilities and need. Arthur
Miller did not share this belief, but he had many friends who did; therefore, he too was being
persecuted. He wrote this play because the Salem witch trials reminded him of the situation he
was in, where someone could accuse him of something he never did and have no evidence, but

Background: Vitamin D deficiency is widely prevalent in the world. Several lines of evidence
support a relation between seasonal variations in serum vitamin D and higher relapse rates in MS
patients in winter.
Objective: To examine whether levels of vitamin D are associated with multiple sclerosis relapse.
Methods: In this study 60 patients in relapse and 60 patients in remission matched controls were
included.
Results: patients in relapse had significantly lower 25(OH) D levels than 60 patients in remission
matched controls (p= 0.004), Vitamin D insufficiency ( 10 ng/ml) was significantly higher in
patients in relapse compared to those in remission (p= 0.03).
Conclusion: The results of our study indicated that an association between lower serum 25
hydroxyvitamin D levels and higher risk of relapse among people with multiple sclerosis (MS).

device called an iris diaphragm. An iris diaphragm is made of thin, opaque plates, and turning a
ring changes the diameter of the central opening. For optical camouflage to work properly, this
opening must be the size of a pinhole. Why? This ensures a larger depth of field so that the screen
(in this case the cloak) can be located any distance from the projector.
The Combiner:
The system requires a special mirror to both reflect the projected image toward the cloak and to
let light rays bouncing off the cloak return to the user s eye. This special mirror is called a beam
splitter, or a combiner a half silvered mirror that both reflects light (the silvered half) and transmits
light (the transparent half). If properly positioned in front of the user s eye, the combiner allows
the user to perceive both the image enhanced by the computer and light from the surrounding world.

This is critical because the computer generated image and the real world scene must be fully

Martin Jacobi argues the role of misreading in Ian McEwan s Atonement and the consequences of
misreading and reading with preconception. Misreading is the incorrect or misinterpretation of a
reading. In McEwan s Atonement misreading is a key concept that allows Ian McEwanto persuade
readers into believing situations and conclusions that are not confirmed. Jacobi s main argument
examples focuses on the misreading and interpretation of two main characters deaths, Robbie and
Cecilia. The misreading in Atonement causes readers to believe they are dead even though it is not
confirmed. Jacobi further argues that along with misreading reading with preconceptions also leads
to misinterpretation, that when we read we have preconceptions about the novelwhich leads to
assumptions about what will occur. (Jacobi 71) While Jacobi argues the negative of having
preconceptions about a novel, having knowledge and information about A novel and the author can
be beneficial when trying to understand the novel and the why in the novel. Knowing information
about when the novel is set, what was happening during this time can be useful for understanding as
well as useful for avoiding misreadings. Although I agree with Jacobi s argument that misreading

little thin, they are the right size.
Place the rectangles three wide by two deep about a quarter inch apart. Connect the panels with the
duct tape on the front and the back. The quarter inch of duct tape between the panels will act like
hinges, so make sure they are pressed together well. The folder is now complete.
Lay your shirt face down on the folder vertically with the neck to the top. Fold the right two panels
to the center. Leave the shirt, but pull the panels back. Repeat this move on the left. Fold the panel

The work of David Rosenhan has inspired many people after him to look into how psychological
clinics and hospitals work in admitting and their behavior towards those who seek their assistance,
whether they be sane or insane. Two of such people are Lauren Slater and Mike Smith. To start,
Lauren Slater presents her findings in researching Rosenhan s experiments and conducting one of
her own that was very similar to Rosenhans. One of the first things Slater points out is that
Rosenhans experiments are flawed (137). Unfortunately, she doesn t go into extreme detail about
what she believes to be those flaws. I personally think that one of the biggest flaws in Rosenhan s
experiments is that all of his subjects claimed the same issues. I think that to have done a full

According to Slater, Every single medical professional was nice to me (162). Once again, this is
a very big improvement. If those who were supposed to be taking care of the ill could not act
professionally, they should not be in charge of taking care of those who might not even be able
to take care of themselves. A big point of Slater s and Rosenhan s results involve how well those
who work in mental facilities are able to sense the sanity of the patient. However, neither
Rosenhan nor Slater give a way of how to detect sanity or even what is the definition of sanity is.
Mike Smith covers what he believes the answer is to that question. He believes that the absence of
madness is the definition of sanity (39). Unfortunatly, this is an obvious answer in which Smith
gives another way to say sanity. The question to ask him would be, what is the definition of
