The Russian Mafia Essay
The Russian Mafia
The Russian Mafia: Protectionism in the New Capitalist Russia The Russian Mafia
has always exercised an important role in the Russian economy. The contemporary
mafiosi are descendents of the seventeenth Century highwaymen and Cossack
robbers. These men occasionally murdered families prior to raids preventing them
from being captured. The Russia mafiosi made a point to remain aloof from the state.
Mob men were actually spurned when returning home from fighting in the Great
Patriotic War. The gangs begin to dominate markets such as car sales, spare parts,
cigarettes, food distribution, and other markets that the Communist Party failed to
provide under the Bolsheviks (Remnick196). Since the collapse of Communism and

Most entrepreneurs purchase the protection. Then the new company pays unofficial
taxes to crime groups. This guarantees that nearly all new businesses will have an
affiliation with the mafia. Gustatson estimates that payments can are approximately
twenty percent of the profit (105). This is a major form of taxation on top of what the
government already commands leading many companies to tax evasion or concealing
their exact value. These acts forfeit what little protection the authorities might be able
to render. The mafia demands a cut of the earnings but in turn furnish more than
adequate security. The mafiosi provides protection from unaffiliated criminals and
rival gangs. They ensure that property is not damaged or stolen. If entrepreneurs are
visited by another organization, they must only summon their own mafia group. The
two gangs will settle the matter themselves (Gustatson 105). This security is an asset
that the State seemingly fails to provide. The Russian Mafia has more men and
weapons than the Russian law enforcement. The police force is an intently corrupt
place as is much of the Russian government. Both army officers and law enforcers
are frantic for cash and willing to sell weapons such as guns, grenades, and rocket
launchers (Remnick 109). The Russian Mafia is able to easily locate weaponry to
carry out its duties as protectorate; while, the

MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY SUDDEN DEATH
Written and Researched by Ronald J. Grisanti D.C., D.A.B.C.O.

On a hot July day, a young and vibrant college football player suddenly makes a

High School track runner dies after finishing second in a race.
The sad truth is 1 out of 50,000 young adults will fall victim to Sudden Death.
Most sudden deaths have been linked to a thickened, enlarged heart called

heart called an arrhythmia.

Best Sources of Magnesium
The best way of insuring enough magnesium is to eat a variety of whole foods,
including whole grains, nuts, seeds and vegetables, preferably food grown on
naturally composted soil. The green color of green vegetables is due to chlorophyll,
which is a molecule that contains magnesium. Avoid refined processed foods,
especially white sugar and white flour products, as most magnesium is removed from
them.
Dr. Grisanti s Comments:
If you are suffering with a heart problem and have not had your magnesium checked,
then I want to urge you to have your physician order the two tests listed above.
Unless you have proof that your magnesium is within normal levels, I want you to

Target Corporation Supply Chain Analysis
The efficiency of a supply chain network is best considered when it is compared to
other strategies that are used by companies that are in the same industry. The strategy
used by Target Corporation was thus compared with other players in the industry to
determine the efficiency of its methods as well as the integrated improvements that
can be made in the supply chain of the Target Corporation. Two models have been
considered in this comparison.
Integrated make to stock Model The supply chain model places much emphasis on
tracking the demands of the customers progressively to allow the generation
procedure to restock the items that have been depleted productively. The supply chain
model requires that the company utilizes data that has been incorporated in a
database system through a data framework. The company is thus able to connect with
all the stores hence is able to monitor the movement of stocks so that they are
replenished before they are completely depleted. Walmart has... Show more content

The customers can then order and make payments for their orders electronically
while online and then sit and wait for the shipment of their cards (Mangan Lalwani,
2016). The strategy will allow the organization to utilize broader measures that
include item accessibility, fill rate, on the rack, stock esteem, on time conveyance,
the money to money cycle, and the stock administration of the bend. The
incorporation of EIP and EIPP into the company s supply chain strategies would
result in an increased speed of delivery, lower Day Outstanding (DSO) and cost
reserve funds. Besides, it would allow for more dependable budgetary streams. The
company ca also improve their store network administration through the creation of
reasonable business gatherings and travel items and administration. They need to

The Veterans Administration ( Va )
Abstract
Much like the people who serve and will ultimately utilize this organization, The
Veterans administration (VA) has a set of core values each member of the armed
forces live by: integrity, respect, excellence, advocacy and commitment. The VA
has always signified a place of hope and security for veterans past and present. For
those who serve the expectation is that when they need medical, dental, housing,
educational and other assistance the VA would be there. Marred by problems over
the years and recently in the media highlighted for long wait times to receive
medical attention , bureaucratic red tape to receive the benefits these veterans
have earned, some have paid the ultimate price (death) which they expected to
happen in some foreign land not at home. This paper endeavors to take an in depth
look at the VA and access and analyze some of its programs and policies to judge
their effectiveness. With any large organization, there will be issues maintaining the
set principles. As each agency strives to operate day to day under the mission
established by the federal government and the Pentagon they soon realize that being
a civilian working in the VA means service to country as the y seek to administer
care to our Vets.
The largest government ran organization in our nation is The Department of Veterans
Affair. A veteranbenefit organization led by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs,

The Finite Tools of Analysis
Valuating the people and things around us is, at core, an attempt to bring analytical
order to a seemingly chaotic world. This search for definition amidst chaos is a
wide and universal struggle across human history. So universal is this quest for
surety in an uncertain world, that it directly relates both to the novel Moneyball and
my experience in college at Las Positas. Tools to understand phenomena around us
have been developed and re developed throughout human culture, as people attempt
to comprehend a moving target. In the same way these methods have had to be
developed and re developed, I have found that every method I have used to

As I learned more, I found out that one of the major goals of a community college
is to prepare a student to a four year university. I also discovered later on that it is
actually cheaper spending two years in a Community College, rather than going
straight to a university. Most private universities cost around $36,000 per year.
That s $144,000 for four years of attendance! Public state universities are far
cheaper, costing $9,000 per year on average. However, after four years, this price
is still $36,000 (Eneriz) This is something an incoming freshman should consider
and measure the value of, after all I don t think any student would be able to afford
this massive cost of tuition out of their pocket. Being curios and inexperienced, it
lead me to research about how most students are able to afford attending a
university, whether they re going straight out of high school, or a transferee from a
community college. Obviously student Loans may be perceived as heaven sent to
those students who need funding, but most of the time it can be just a wicked trick
to trap someone in decades of debt. Whether a student loan is private or public it is
undeniably an inescapable debt due to its non dischargeable nature. According to Time
Character Analysis Of The Secret World Of Arrietty
The Secret World of Arrietty was released in Japan on July 17, 2010, The film
received extremely positive reviews that praise the animation and music. It became
the highest grossing Japanese film at the Japanese box office in 2010 and grossed
over $145 million worldwide. Arrietty is first seen brazenly running through the
garden in full daylight on daring foraging expeditions, fending off menacing
grasshoppers and outfoxing an apoplectic cat. She is revealed to be an only child
on the eve of her first borrowing expedition, which her father approves of due to
their species diminishing. A full shot is incorporated when discussing Arrietty s
ability to go on her first borrowing trip. While the father s serious personality and
placement in the middle would normally indicate his power over the household,
Arrietty easily manages to invade his space and raise her voice at him, which
obliterates any evidence of her being submissive. Arrietty s personality at the start
of the film is borderline arrogant and it derives from her natural abilities as a
borrower. For example, her quick reflexes allows her to defend herself from a bug
using only a makeshift weapon. Arrogance and recklessness are usually not related
to females, due to the stereotype that they are followers and always levelheaded.
Sean is the main supporting character, who is sickly, frail and weak, which is an
enormous contrast to Arrietty s over supply of energy and strife for life. His presence
emphasizes how Arrietty
Why I Chose Public Sector
Many will say at an early age they knew exactly what type of career they wanted to
pursue. For others such as me; future thoughts, dreams, and decisions were often
pushed to the side due to a complex life that surrounded me inside and outside the
home. However, those negative feelings did not outweigh the inspiration in wanting
to dedicate my life to the public sector. I was raised in a low income neighborhood
that experienced nominal capital improvements. The lack of encouragement and
opportunities to reach beyond the stars inside and outside the home were almost
nonexistent.
As I reached the mid to later grades of elementary school, I began to realize that I
may not be able to personally improve the situation that surrounded me, but I could
immediately improve my personal self. I was a motivated individual with a
confidence level soaring on cloud nine. I discovered a new found freedom, the act
of performing well academically. Instead of the streets, the public library became
my best friend. I told myself I did not want to be associated with the negativity,
violence, and lack of opportunities that plagued my environment. I was able to rise
above the imposed limitations exposing myself to superior levels of reading by
burying myself in dictionaries, encyclopedias, and the great world of literature. I

Preferred Shares (Stock)
Preferred Shares (Stock) The words such as stock and securities are currently used
not only by business related I have chosen to research preferred stock for this
individual project.
At first, from an accounting stand point, capital stock (stock) is a part of
shareholders equity as the later is composed of capital stock and retained earnings and
represents the amount by which a company is financed through common and
preferred shares.
The definition of stock varies across the dictionaries. However, most dictionaries
agree that stock (also referred to as shares or equity) is a share in the ownership of
a company: a type of security that signifies ownership in a corporation and represents
a claim on part of the corporation s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This amount is represented by the capital that was contributed to the corporation
when the shares were first issued. Par value of preferred stock is defined as the
amount that a share of preferred stock is worth on the trading market lt;http:/

other words, it is a stated legal amount for each share of preferred stock. In
accounting, compliant with state regulations, the par value of preferred stock must
be recorded in its own paid in capital account Preferred Stock. If the corporation
receives more than the par amount, the amount greater than par would be recorded in
another account such as Paid in Capital in Excess of Par Preferred Stock. ( lt;http:/

In order to make their preferred stock more attractive to potential investors,
corporations offer a variety of features in their preferred stock. These characteristics
may vary every issue of the stock and include the combination of two or more
features. The special aspects of preferred shares are recorded in a document called an
indenture.
If a corporation is not attractive to potential investors, the preferred stock might need
both the cumulative and the fully participating features in order to sell. On the other

Game Theory
Game theory descriptive, normative or prescriptive?
Going through life we often are surprised by the different ways how people think,
make decisions and interact. We believe that most of us are rational human beans (to
some extent) and, therefore, our decisions should be grounded in analysis of the
situation, our experience and intuition. Therefore, the human mind can be seen as an
incredibly complicated machine that runs series of theoretical simulations of possible
situations (often subconsciously) to find the most optimal course of action, taking
into consideration the possible strategies of others. When the decisions are important
to us and the reasoning process is conscious, we engage in strategic thinking. It has
always been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Oxford English dictionary the definition of game theory is as follows the branch
of mathematics concerned with the analysis of strategies for dealing with competitive
situations where the outcome of a participant s choice of action depends critically on
the actions of other participants. Game theory has been applied to contexts in war,
business, and biology. From the definition we see the important factors are the
mathematical analysis, different strategic options with different outcomes (pay offs)
and the interdependence of the players. Therefore it indeed looks like the so desired
theory described in the introduction of the essay, however, what does it actually
deliver, that is the main focus of this essay. Modern game theory has been
developing now for more than 50 years since the book Theory of Games and
Economic Behavior by John von Neumann and Oskar Morgenstern was published
in 1944. However, it must be noted that some important efforts in explaining the
strategic choices strategic decision making has been done also before, for example
by Zermelo. Konong, Kalmar and Borel. Game theory has evolved considerably
since the publication of von Neuman and Morgenstern s book and what is interesting
the theory has developed far beyond its initial mathematical boundaries. This is due
in a large part to contributions in the 1950s from John Nash (1950, 1951). However,
it was in the 1970s

Procopius The Empress Theodora
Procopius of Caesarea, the legal advisor and secretary to the military general
Belisarius and a member of the Byzantine elite, earned his reputation as historian
through his writings of the reign of Justinian. Procopius record of the Emperor
Justinian and his wife Theodora spans over his three works, the Buildings, the Wars,
and the Anecdota, or Secret History. Procopius hostile portrayal of Empress Theodora
in his Anecdota represents his aim to defame of her husband Justinian as well as to
express his personal objections to Theodora s legitimacy and authority. His animosity
towards Justinian, illustrated through Theodora, is largely due to his frustration and
disappointment at the emperor s political, military, and religious policies,... Show

Foss indicates that Theodora was recognized officially as co ruler by Justinian, giving
her glory, wealth, and authority. However, power is a characteristic conventionally
attributed to elite men in Roman society, not women. The notion that Theodora, a
woman of low birth and a reformed prostitute nonetheless, exercises more power than
previous consorts conflicts with these societal conventions. Her use of power in the
Secret History is cruel and tyrannical, as she imprisoned and tortured her enemies in
secret dungeons, including Procopius employer Belisarius. Theodora s exercises of
power are portrayed much differently, however, in other sources, such as her
protection of the Oriental Orthodox community. Additionally, his account of the Nika
riots, Theodora asserts herself by speaking to Justinian and the Senate on the
necessity of staying, rather than fleeing, contrasting her husband s cowardice.
Through this, Theodora is demonstrating the traditionally masculine characteristic of
courage, which is not only improper but also unnatural to Procopius, as someone
who prescribes to the conventional notions of sexuality. His views of her abominable
past and her behaviour are more freely illustrated in the Anecdota, which was written
for the elite after the death of the
The Discrimination Of Female Applicants
To behave and treat servicewomen with respect and entitlement and those who recruit
to display no discrimination to female applicants. We have to approach the
recruitment steps since discrimination can easily begin here. Secondly, we have to
implement a no tolerance policy concerning rape and discrimination in the United
StatesMilitaryand to hold all those accountable who don t follow the new regulations.
There should be no exceptions to these rules; an illustration to this declaration is
when kin intervention occurs. Those who have a political or financial platform tend
to use their positions to exclude their family members from undergoing certain
circumstances. It is hard to escape the suspicion that Bush got an easy ride through

At the time he did his years in uniform, his father was a prominent Texas

Art Therapy For People With Suicide Essay
Populations and Setting: Art Therapy for People with Suicide

because of committing suicide every year. Suicide is one of the common leading
causes of death in the United States. The age adjusted suicide rate is 13.26 people
per 100,000 population in a year. Men have a suicide rate 3.5 times higher than
women. There are 121 people who commit suicide on average per a day. Suicide
rate is highest in the middle age, especially white male. In 2015, the highest suicide

Two different workshops were held for a series of community meetings and a wide

Ancient Greek Religion Essay
Ancient Greek Religion: Mycenaean to Classical Period Ancient Greece has been
a religion centered culture since the earliest period of habitation in Greece, the Pre
Mycenaean/Mycenaean period. Also through to the Dark Ages to the Classical
period. It is a religiously centered civilization, and did have significant changes in
the how it was incorporated into people s daily lives. Religion is important to know
about the Ancient Greeks because through it we are able to understand how they
lived their lives. Greek Religion in the Mycenaean period was practiced within caves
,or rock shelters according to The Minoan Mycenaean Religion and its Survival in

218 219). So nobility or at least an early form of it was present at this time due to
knowledge that they were religious centered I think it could be possible that they
could have had a semi theocratic like situation. It is assumed that they are a fetish
or symbol of a deity and it was discovered that to the Minoans it had a meaning
close to that of a modern greek word for the weapon of the thunder god to the
Greek but in to those of Minoan Crete, a Mother Earth god(Nilsson, 1950, p. 220).
Death and funerary customs were important to Mycenaean religion as well as
rituals. Cremation, Pit burials, tombs as well as other forms have been used in
their funerary customs, and also when the cremation was done it would take place
at site of burial, fire used in burials as well as sacrifices had a meaning for why they
used it. The Mycenaeans believed that it was purifying rite apart of burials, which
could be the last step or so they took to send people to the afterlife, and was mainly
practiced by the cult of the dead (Nilsson, 1950, p. 595 596).Also another reason
for fire as apart of burial is because if their is still flesh the possibility that the
person might not move on was still possible, so burning it off removed that
possibility and was a way of giving people descension to the Afterlife, and because
it disconnected the world of the living and dead so no harm could come to the living
at the hands of Hades or the dead(Nilsson, 1950, p. 617 618). Another
Western And Western Saddles
According to society, Equestrians are jockeys that race around a track. But to
anyone who s actually ridden or has a passion for horses, you know that there are
two distinctive styles of riding English and Western. There are both similarities and
differences between the two types of riding. Regardless of the style of riding people
participate in or favor, each world of riding opens up various activities for the rider to
enjoy.
The most obvious difference between English and Western ridingis the tack itself.
Most people associate Western riding with cowboys and herding cattle. The Western
saddle is a larger, heavier saddle with a horn in the front. The saddle is more
comfortable and easier to sit in, to provide a more comfortable seat ... Show more

For example, English style horses tend to be taller and many are leggy, aiding their
ability to travel over long distances at a variety of speeds as well as jump over a
variety of obstacles (Blocksdorf 2016). English horses are normally lighter and
taller to give them an advantage over jumping fences and performing in cross
country. Western horses and stockier and they tend to be shorter than English
horses. Western horses tend to be compact and capable of steady travel all day with
small bursts of speed to chase stray cattle (Blocksdorf 2016). Of course, a Quarter
horse can participate in the English discipline, and a Dutch Warmblood could
participate in reining, but those breeds are usually specifically bred for either
English or Western disciplines. A similarity between English and Western riding is
the posture. Both types of riding require the rider to sit up straight in the saddle
and have their heels down. Comfortably and securely sitting in the saddle requires
you to keep your hands down, tuck your elbows in, and push your shoulders back.
Good posture in the saddle is essential to riding correctly. For example, A balanced
rider is able to maintain this center of balance through all paces. I call this the
independent riding posture . The riding posture is the position the rider establishes in
the saddle, at all paces. An independent riding posture gives the rider a stable base
allowing them to use their legs, seat, and hands

What Are Emotions and Moods? Although we don t want to obsess over
definitions, before we can proceed with our analysis, we need to clarify three
terms that are closely intertwined: affect, emotions, and moods. Affect is a generic
term that covers a broad range of feelings that people experience. It s an umbrella
concept that encompasses both emotions and moods.5 Emotions are intense
feelings that are directed at someone or something.6 Moods are feelings that tend
to be less intense than emotions and that often (though not always) lack a
contextual stimulus.7 Most experts believe that emotions are more fleeting than
moods.8 For example, if someone is rude to you, you ll feel angry. That intense
feeling of anger probably comes and goes fairly quickly, maybe even in a matter of
seconds. When you re in a bad mood, though, you can feel bad for several hours.
Emotions are reactions to a person (seeing a friend at work may make you feel
glad) or event (dealing with a rude client may make you feel angry). You show your
emotions when you re happy about something, angry at someone, afraid of
something. 9 Moods, in contrast, aren t usually directed at a person or event. But
emotions can turn into moods when you lose focus on the event or object that started
the feeling. And, by the same token, good or bad

Among these groups was one called The Sons of Liberty . They chose to stand up

Although the troops were there to protect the colonists from a French or Indian

No for an answer was not very pleasing to the colonists. Another grievance to the
list. When the colonists finally managed to get the Townshend Act repealed, the
tax in tea was still left being taxed. The Tea Act was the last of the strikes that hit
the nerves of the colonists. Not only did the colonists have to pay tax on tea, but
they were pretty much done with the King and Parliament as a whole. They started
creating riots and protests against theses acts. One group that came out of the

Food Ban Research Paper
Should government have the freedom to limit its citizens freedom? The answer is
yes but the question is how much and for what reasons. The ban on large sugary
drinks more than 16 ounce at food service establishments proposed by The New
York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg sparked a heated debate over this question.
Proponents of the ban justified it by citing studies which showed excessive amount of
sugar causes obesity and has many other serious negative effects on health. They
argued that such consequences have negative effect for the whole society, in form of
additional health care and social welfarecost. Opponents of the ban argued that it
imposes an unjustified and unnecessary limit on personal freedom, does not reach the
intended goal of limiting obesity, and sets precedent for excessive government
overreach. Both sides have strong arguments, I am inclined to side with the
opponents of the ban mainly because I am wary of unnecessary government
overreach but I am on the border and ready to change my opinion in future.
In June 2012, Bloomberg announced that food service establishments should ... Show

In this case a proponent of the deal can argue that scientific research leaves no doubt
that excessive consumption of sugary beverages is harmful. As a result the
government has a moral obligation to ban it even if it only hurts the consumer and no
one else. To oppose this argument in a utilitarian context, the opponent must show
that the ban does not lead to the intended consequences. They can argue that the ban
does not include supermarkets, so the consumer can go and buy as much sugary
beverage he/she wants somewhere else.
In a legal context the question is whether based on the constitution and other
governing laws in the country and the state, the city officials have the legal authority
to impose such a ban. According to the New York judiciary system they
Medieval Gender Roles In The Middle Ages
By any metric, the middle ages in Europe was not an egalitarian society. Gender roles
were heavily ingrained in the culture, with men meant to have aggressive masculine
traits, and women to have fragile feminine traits. The practice of minting coins was
perfected by Roman Emperors such as Augustus, Vespasian, and Diocletian, and as
many Roman customs did, it became adopted by medieval kings, particularly Anglo
Saxonsones. The minting of coins not only served as a way to facilitate the
exchange of goods and services, but they also were political tools utilised by leaders.
Cynethryth, Queen of Merciaand Wife of Offa the Great, was the only Anglo Saxon
Queen we know of who issued her own coinage1. This not only has implications for
the political eptitude of Cynethryth, but also has significance to understanding of
medieval gender roles and how women in power operated and exercised authority.
To properly understand the insignia on the physical coin, it is first important to
understand the historical background. From the arrival of the Germanic peoples
collectively known as the Anglo Saxons to the invasion of William of Normandy, the
political system in Great Britain was primarily divided into seven different
Kingdoms called the Heptarchy( hept meaning seven and archy meaning rule)2.
These Kingdoms were Wessex, East Anglia, Northumbria, Sussex, Mercia, Kent, and
Essex. The Mercian border fluctuated over time, but it was generally in power over
the modern day midland region
Book Report On My College Career
Let me start by saying that I ve improved somewhat throughout this course in regards
to my writing capabilities. Though these skills are not perfect by any standards, it s
with some pride that I can say that they ve developed somewhat. Specifically
speaking, the categorizing of information from various articles with attribution to
them when they re used has gone up significantly. There were many times along the
way that I would use the author s ideas without properly accrediting them. Finding the
information and resources to best suit my arguments was not an issue; however,
incorporating citations to give credit to them was an issue. This letter will be mainly
focused on the first paper, the summary, as it was my weakest attempt at writinga
college level paper.
Since the summary paper was the first paper I ve written for my college career, I
can firmly assert that it was the paper I was most confused on as to what was
necessary to make it into a success. I felt as though I had managed to get many of
the author s views out into the open at the cost of some misinterpretation and unused
in text citation. McClelland s ideas often mixed with my own, which served as a
slippery slope to losing the context of who said what as you pointed out within the
comments on the paper. A specific example would be in paragraph two of the
unrevised paper 1. Another thing that ended up hindering my paper was the
underdevelopment of some of the most important points to McClelland s argument
The Impacts Of The Cuban Embargo On Cuba
What is the Cuba embargo? Is a commercial, economic, and financial embargo
imposed by the United States on Cuba. The United States first imposed a trade
embargo on Cuba on February 3, 1962, in order to make things right with Castro s
confiscation of privately owned properties and other productive assets. The Cuban
embargo was stablished with the purpose of establishing the embargo against Cubato

Gasoline in Cuba is very scarce, and automobile transportation is not common,
people go in bike or walking either way than in an automobile. Animals are used for
heavy agricultural activities. Over half of Cuba s work force is now unemployed,
although unemployment is officially a crime and is punished with imprisonment.
Although the United States today stands firmly alone in maintaining the embargo, it
must stand firm no matter what, and more this days that Fidel Castro had died.
Maintaining the embargo because Cuba has not accomplished the conditions
required to lift it until irreversible economic and political reforms leading to
democratic capitalism had taken place. The Cuban people must understand and act
that it is up only to them to solve the social, economic, and political crisis caused by
the Castro regime. U.S. taxpayers should no longer be engaging in to finance the
costs of Castro s ceaseless tyranny.
The United States must not abandon by nothing the Cuban people by relaxing or
lifting the trade embargo against the communist regime because they have done
nothing for why the United States should lift it. Instead, the U.S. government must
neglect all pressures to abandon the embargo until all of the objectives for which it
was imposed are achieved! Anything less would create a sad faith with the Cuban
people, who nowadays are among the very few people left in the world who still
suffer brutality of a communist
Design A Functional Prototype Of Monitoring System
1.0INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this project is to design a functional prototype of monitoring system
for a security purpose and the system use WIFI as a transmission medium.
Standard monitoring systems such as CCTV use cable to connect from a camera to
the monitoring station. This project is intended to use a wireless transmission to
transmit video from camera to monitoring station. This project also to overcome the
power supply issues of main power supply to operate the device. The uninterruptible
power supply is use as a main power supply to prevent disturbance that may cut off
the power supply.
It is important to get high quality video display on monitor and the video can be
transmitting to the monitoring station via WIFI.
1.0PROBLEM STATEMENT
These days, most devices and applications for remote monitoring purposes are
suffering with power supply disruption and limited access of monitoring place.
This is due to the place where device is installed that far from power grid and also
due to the limited control room for monitoring stations. In that case, if there is a
sudden failure in power supply, the devices will not functioning. This remote
monitoring system use a solar panel as a power input because this application base
on green technology. Green technology mean that this device not use plug n play
concept but use solar panel as a source to operate the system. The failure of the
device to function will give impact to the devices that has to recorded,

The Women s Suffrage Movement Essay
We hold these truths to be self evident: That all men and women are created equal. In
the 19th century, the state of freedom of women in the United States was limited and
contained a non egalitarian relationship between men and women. Due to the effect
of the Seneca Falls Convention, led to a time of change and reform known as the
Women s Suffrage Movement. In the United States Civil War, women of the Union
and Confederacy played an essential role with new responsibilities contributing
assistance to men fighting in the war. During the wartime, feminists presented their
political capabilities and contributions in the significance of the nation. Since women
played an active role throughout the wartime, Northern women s rights movement
seek for recognition and deliberated a reasonable compensation for the right to vote.
Abolitionists rejected the idea of women s suffrage and bind with Republicans to
pursue the campaign of African American men suffrage. By the ratification of the
fourteenth and fifteenth amendment, women were denied the vote in federal
elections. In 1848, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony extracted from the
Equal Rights Association and unified a secret meeting of their followers to form the
National Women Suffrage Association (NWSA).
July of 1848 Seneca Falls Convention included a two day meeting initiating the
struggle for women s equality and motivating a group of women to demand justice
and rights of citizenship. On the first day of the
Preferred Provider Organization
Health insurance has been a matter of concern for long in the U.S. Several laws have
been formulated to ensure every individual get insurance cover. The latest law is the
Affordable Care Act. Every insurance company has its own products offered. There
are various types of insurance offered. The most common types of health insurance
plans are health maintenance organization(HMO), Exclusive Provider Organization
(EPO), Preferred Provider Organizationand Point of Service (POS) Plans.
Every type has different levels of coverage of care as per the company policies.
Health maintenance Organization offers a wide range of coverage. Its premiums
are low. It requires one to choose a primary care physician who will be the one
responsible for most of the healthcare needs. Exclusive Provider Organization plan
on the other hand, is a managed care system where one is allowed to get health
care only from doctors and specialists within a network except during emergencies.
Members of EPO can negotiate for lower rates with the providers since they are
restricted to doctors who are in the network only. Preferred Provider Organization
is a type of health plan which also has a network of doctors, hospitals, and other
specialists who have agreed to offer services at subsidized rates. Services offered
by doctors in the network have low cost than that outside network. Point of Service
plan combines the characteristics of HMO and PPO. Members of this plan are
supposed to choose a primary care
Measuring Crime And Crime Statistics
Measuring crime helps criminal justice agencies to reflect on the effectiveness of
policies in existence and correctly target resources. Crime statistics are therefore
central to solving crime in England and Wales. In order for crime to be tackled
effectively, it is vital that it is measured accurately. There are two sources of crime
statistics published annually in the UK namely policerecorded crime and the Crime
Survey of England and Wales. According to the Crime Survey of England and
Wales, in total there were 7.1 million incidents of crime in 2013 2014. Although
there has been an 11% reduction in crime, several categories of crime such as
sexual offences, fraud and public order offences are up from the previous year. In
comparison, latest figures from police recorded crime shows no overall change
from the previous year, with 3.7 million offences recorded in the year ending March
2014. Whilst Left Realists argue that crime statistics are an accurate indicator of the
state of crime in society, the disparities between the sources of crime statistics
suggest that crime statistics provide an inaccurate measurement of crime in the UK.
Marxists believe that crime statistics are flawed and manipulated by the government
in an attempt to deceive the public. Research calculated by Her Majesty s
Inspectorate of Constabulary supports this view as it revealed that more than
800,000 offences are left off the official crime figure in England and Wales each
year. It is clear that
Rhetorical Analysis Avatar
Rhetorical Analysis Avatar (Cultural Assimilation)
In James Cameron s critically acclaimed Avatar, there are many issues/disputes that
are represented, but there is only one that especially stands out; cultural assimilation.
Cameron s purpose for this is to better represent and portray the possibility of
assimilation to today s modern audience. He adopts a visually stimulating tone to
better impact and leave his viewers with a lasting impression of his portrayal, that
will better convey the feelings of transgression in the supremacist audience he is
trying to reach. This is known by the type of subject he is tackling and by showing a
similar situation, unrelated to the textbook cover of Native assimilation, but leaves

In the way it is visually astounding is only a bonus, it is perfectly executed and
displayed. I feel as if this is a masterpiece because of the way it tackles
discrimination, not only from the white side view but from the how the Native
populace feels toward the invaders. It exposes the tender side of two worlds
colliding, such as trying to make peace and attempting to learn both sides of culture.
The contrast between the two worlds is shown by Jake Sully constantly moving
between both worlds, the audience is eventually more exposed to the Na vi side just
as Jake Sully is. He says It feels like out there is the real world, and in here is the
dream.. James Cameron does beautifully in showing a clichГ© event in a new
Video Games And Its Effects On Female Characters
Throughout the world women are depicted to be oversexualized among forms of
media such as video games and comic books. The idea of oversexualization
towards female characters is that they have been often drawn and animated in
hypersexual ways. Even going as far as viewing them as a sex object, their
revealing body images are eye candy through the eyes of men. Hence women found
in comic books and video games are frequently emphasized by their excessive
physical appearances, objectification, portrayal, and character role.
So, what does oversexualize mean anyway? The term oversexualize defines as to
sexualize excessively, which means to make something of sexual that is beyond
degree in this case, a person or someone of a gender whether male or female can be
oversexualized. To begin with, costumes that female characters wear are far more
or less provocative clothes, but mainly towards sexually explicit ways. For
example, Ivy Valentine comes from a video game series called Soul Calibur who
is the first character to have a revealing outfit and in which her costumes appears to
be a dominatrix style. Furthermore, she shows a huge amount of cleavage with her
exposed thighs and hips despite wearing high boots and long gloves which indicates
to be a skin display. This brings us to our next reason about body types. The women s
appearances we see in media have been designed to become a perfect ideal and yet
their massive breasts are exaggeratedly drawn to be in the size of basketballs

Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout. Those are the 3 species of trout in the southern
Appalachians. Brook trout are native to the Georgia Appalachians, while rainbow
and brown trout are not. Rainbow trout came from California and were introduced
to the Georgian Appalachian around 1875. They have populated Georgia well and
have sustained a great habitat. Brown trout actually came from overseas, Europe.
They came to the Americas and have found a home in Georgia. The brook trout
usually has a light colored underbelly with a brown speckled body. The rainbow
trout lives up to its name, it has a colorful body and white body. The brown trout are
you guessed it brown, with a yellow underbelly.

Impact Of The Fairy World In A Midsummer Night s Dream
The impact of the fairy world in a midsummer night s dream
The word magic can be defined as: the power of apparently influencing the course of
events by using mysterious or supernatural forces. Such magic can be seen in
Shakespeare s A Midsummer night s dream. Oberon, the king of fairies, fights with
his wife Titania, the fairy queen, over a small Indian boy whom she protects. Oberon
s quarrel causes a disturbance in the natural order of the world because of the
magic, however one could say that the natural order of the world was really being
shaken by the defiance of the woman in the play since Titania and Hermia s
defiance to the men in their life causes the plot to take action. Oberon devises a
plan in which he plans on enchanting Titania with the western flower,/ Before milk
white, now purple with love s wound,/ And the maidens call it love in idleness
(Shakespeare 2.1.166 168). This magical flower is also used ... Show more content on

9 19) This shows that The fairies guard Titania from harm, though their song does
not prevent Oberon from placing a spell on the fairy queen (Ciraulo). In
mythology, greek gods and spirits are known for playing tricks on each other to
get what they want and Oberon is no exception. He is furious not only because he
is not getting his way, but even more so because Titania, his wife, is defying him.
In this time period, woman did not have the same authority and voice that a man
would, so Titania defying her husband s will was unacceptable to Oberon. His
dispute against her causes rheumatic diseases and through this distemperature we
see/ The seasons alter, shaking the human world even more with his magic
(Shakespeare 2.1.105 107). Titania s behavior in defying her husband surely makes
her culpable in early modern terms, and her near bestial affair comes as punishment
for such defiance (Clement). Oberon s plan is to teach her a lesson by humiliating
her, achieving this by having her sleep and fall in love with

Military Population Introduction The objective of this brief study is to examine
the psychological and social consequences of war, acts of terrorism and disasters
upon the civilian and military population as well as the treatment options available
for military members and their family members. The work of Matthewson (nd)
states that it is not the battlefield upon which the attacks take place, but rather, it is
in the mind the psychology of those who survive. (p.192) Matthewson additionally
states that disasters both natural and human made, can elicit fear, anger and worry
in victims, their family and friends and could lead to psychological symptoms of
anxiety and depression. (p.192) I. Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) The
Mayo Clinic describes Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) as a mental health

the symptoms get better after time however, in more severe cases the symptoms do

Overview of Kurdistan Essay
Kurdistan is a region located between Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. The Kurds are
the biggest ethnicity on the planet without a state to this day. This paper will focus
on the Iraqi part of Kurdistan, for it has come the closest to a state like notion as per
Weber s definition. Iraqi Kurdistan is a region characterized by many diplomatic
issues due to lack of acceptance as a state. The region was established through an
autonomy agreement with Iraqi government in 1970 after decades of disputes
between the Iraqi government and the Kurds in the north. The region had already
established a government, but it lacked many characteristics that are applicable to a
state. The constant conflict with the Iraqi government has been ongoing since the...

For many Kurds, the need for a free independent Kurdistan with all four parts united
has not been forgotten and will never be. Various methods and strategies have been
used in the attempt to establish an independent state, but the prevailing conditions
have always been against the Kurds, until the second Gulf War and the toppling of
Saddam. This is attributed to the lack of many defining characteristics of a state, thus
Weber s notion of a state can be used to describe the prevailing conditions within the
Iraqi Kurdistan (Zunes 19). It has been a difficult struggle for Iraqi Kurdistan to
achieve legitimacy as a state due to a lack of acceptance by the international
community and constant disputes with Iraq and neighboring countries.
Notion of a state
Based on Weber s notion of a state, a state can be defined as an establishment that is
legitimate and has the power and authority over its citizenry. Moreover, it should have
an influence on the internal affairs of the state as well as the foreign. As per Weber s
specific definition, a state has an imposing business model on honest to goodness
viciousness (Oslon 673) Thus, various institutions and foundations such as the
military, common administration or state organization, courts, and police characterize
the state. The citizenry should also be involved in activities within the state. An
example is private equity whereby the citizenry contributes to the state by facilitating
infrastructural growth and economic

New Criticism Of Daisy Miller
In Henry James s novella, his heroine: Daisy Miller is a young woman who dared
to challenge the old guard. Her nature, though rebellious was pure and innocent,
and her death was in itself her last rebellion. She died a martyr for a cause in which
she believed: the freedom of women. She was the first of a new generation of
independent women, women outside of the control of the Mrs. Walkers of the
world: women who were free. Alive Daisy was bound by the chains of society, in
death she was let loose from her bindings. Her death was not an example of failure, it
was the greatest gift she could have given. In life, Daisy was looked at as a womanof
ill repute by the socialites who mattered in Europe, but in death, she superseded
this role, and became something much more: a symbol of rebellion. In this way
Daisy s death challenged the social order. By loosing her life, she showed just how
powerful a woman could be. Using a lens of New Historicism, the reader is able to
recognize much more from the behavior of Daisy in contrast to using a lens
submerged in today s mentality. From an eye born and raised in the twenty first
century, one really cannot see what all the fuss was about. She just appears to be a

Vacation Persuasive Speech
Most people have that one vacation with no happy memories. Remember the
summer trip in 2008? The one where all you did was complain? That s the one.
Money spent on these trips doesn t care how often you were bored, making it seem
as though it was wasted. But if every picture from the trip brings a smile to your
face, then the larger cost isn t as bad. It isn t as difficult with older people to
organize a vacation, because if they are together, similar activities often are enjoyed.
The challenge comes when kids, mainly younger ones, are in tow. Adults planning
vacations should consider what they are looking for, whether it is fun and adventure
or calm and relaxed. But how do you know what s appropriate for you, since every
family is different?
For starters, the more hyper the kids, the more exciting the vacation. Hiking,
whitewater rafting, and national park sight seeing all keep the adventure going. The
natural wonders of Yellowstone, the Badlands, and Mount Rainer, to name a few, fill
the western United States, and are beyond magical. Geysers spraying sixty feet into
the air never fail to impress anyone, and the countless rock formations bring questions
about the sanity of the Earth. When looking for activities on a fast paced trip,
mountains are the place to go. Fun all year round, they offer hiking and rafting during
the warmer seasons, and breathtaking skiing and other snow activities when the
weather gets cold. Camelback Mountain in Pennsylvania has

During battle and wartime, in the experience stage, all of the frivolous emotions
and concerns are melted away as this newly realized proximity to death brings a
new appreciation for life and the truly important things. The things that truly matter
to a man may vary and some of them, such as love, fear, comfort, and compassion,
are intangible. And yet it is these intangible things and not direct orders from a
commander that drive a man onward during war. Unfortunately, war not only reveals
the innermost truths of a man s character, it also destroys his capacity for leading a
normal life upon his return home. Once a man has confronted his personal demons
and come to some sort of understanding regarding his place in the universe and the
inevitability of death, he has an extremely difficult time acclimating himself to
civilian life once the war ends. Of all the novels read in War Literature, Joseph
Conrad s Heart of Darkness and two Tim O Brien novels: Going After Cacciatoand
The Things They Carried, best illustrate the inability of a soldier to deal with his
original settings after returning from war. By studying the actions of Marlow, Paul
Berlin, and Tim O Brien (both the author and the character) after they leave the war,
it is clear that they each use their own unique war experiences to deal with
Ruth And Elliot
Barbie, Seeing Things Others Do Not
Izzy (latter change to Elliot) and Ruth Handler were husband and wife that
complemented each other s skills when it came to business. Elliot was the dreamer,
who I have often refer to in business as the Oracle or someone that can see things
that other can not. Ruth, by contrast, had a business mind and is what I like to call
the General. They had two kids named Barb and Ken. Together Elliot and Ruth
started a toy company they called Mattel. Elliot s first product inspiration was that of
a plastic ukulele, which was closely followed by a toy piano. Since they were short of
capital, Ruth and Elliot would attend toy fairs where store buyers would go to sell
their new toy ideas. Even though they had successful products, the Handler s lost
money since they were relatively inexperienced in manufacturing and distribution.
They underestimated their costs, which significantly ate into their margins. Even
though the musical toys sold over 20 million units, there was no margin that the
company could use to grow.
They figured they had to go big or go home. They figured that if you are going to
drive off the cliff, it is better to leave no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While this practice seems incredibly short sighted today, no one thought to market
products to children at the time. There was a new TV show ready to debut. Mattel
bet the farm and agreed to became a sponsor for a new show. The show was called
The Wonderful World of Disney and proved to be a big hit, especially with kids.
The product that Mattel was marketing was a Burp Gun, a toy that made a burping
sound instead of a bang when the child pulled the trigger. Since the audience of the
show was kids, it was the first time marketers focused on selling to kids and not to
their parents. Being a sponsor of The Wonderful World of Disney proved to be a
brilliant move and the company s revenue grew three fold almost
Management Executive Summary
1.Executive Summary
A comfortable atmosphere provides a place where the customer can work, meet,
relax or enjoy a healthy choice of bread. Freshly brewed coffee, expresso drinks,
frozen coffee drinks, specialty teas and other beverages, along with assorted bakery,
lunch and desert items make this a place to go and relax anytime of the day.
2.Current Situation Barriers to Entry
The major barrier to entry for a specialty bakery is the perception that healthy food
tastes worse than unhealthy food. Since the population that would shop exclusively
at a specialty bakery is very limited, it would be a huge disadvantage to exclude the
general population based on this negative public perception. Capital requirements
would also be a barrier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Piano Recital Proposal
The concert I decided to attend was a piano recital performed by Dr. Stephen
Carlson, a member of the Bemidji State University Music Department since 2006.
Dr. Carlson is an exceptional soloist who has performed at multiple venues and
events across the United States, including Carnegie Hall and Minnesota Valley
Sommarfest. He is also an exceptional teacher, providing workshops, master classes,
and clinics to further advance his students knowledge of playing the piano. Schools
such as the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, Gustavus Adolphus College, and St.
Joseph s School of Musichave had the honor of calling Dr. Carlson their piano
instructor. I attended his recent piano recital on Friday, February 24th, 2017 at the
Carl O. Thompson Recital... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carlson is FrГ©dГ©ric Chopin s Polonaise in A flat Major, op.53. I felt as if this
composition was a good definition of program music. I enjoyed this piece because it
seemed to tell a story throughout. The performer used tonality to help tell the story,
especially in this piece. Dr. Carlson would build the tension up multiple times
throughout this song, only to resolve it and give a sense of relief to the audience. I
enjoyed it because the song brought on multiple different emotions. One minute,
tensions would be high and the performance seemed frantic, when suddenly the
tonality changes and big boastful notes that make you feel proud and mighty thunder
out of the piano. When I thought of a piano recital, I was not expecting the emotion
Dr. Carlson put into playing the piano, both shaking the audience at times, and quieter
than a church mouse at others. I think some of the most memorable parts were the
lengthy and mesmerizing solos Dr. Carlson displayed. I found myself lost in the
emotion of the piano, and lost watching his fingers play the notes at super speed.
Other memorable parts included loud, triumphant scenes, that followed the quieter,
more thought provoking segments. These parts usually caught me off guard, which
only improved the performance by immersing me deeper into the piece. I would
compare Polonaise in A Flat Major to the Preludes after the intermission. The
Preludes by Sergei Rachmaninoff used tonality as well to build up
Disrespect in the Military Essay
Since I failed to complete the 2000 word essay on Disrespect to a Non
Commissioned Officer that I was ordered to do I was reordered to write this 3000
word essay on Failure to follow orders and the possible consequences I was told
that if I had simply taken what was originally written and reworded it I would have
been good as gold . I now have come to realize that my failure to follow orders is
not only affecting me but it is affecting others. I am taking up a lot of my sergeants
time by them having to wright counseling statements for me. Also I have been using
the excuse that I am dealing with a lot of personal problems all at once, one after
another etcetera and so forth. I could have avoided this entire situation completely by

Assassin s Creed History
Video games were first created for the sole purpose of entertainment. We found that
people loved to play video games and started to play them as much as they watched
TV. Educators and game developers decided to use that to their advantage by
implementing facts and details to help teach and fuel learning in video games. Even
video games that have a sole purpose of entertainment have historically accurate
stories. In this new age of gaming, video games are now able to provide
entertainment and knowledge.
Markedly, some games were designed solely for education. On December 3, 1971, a
new educational game was created: The Oregon Trail. The game was produced by a
team in Minnesota to teach students about how hard life was when pioneers traversed

One game series that depicts multiple instances throughout history is Assassin s
Creed. The series has a total of 11 major games, which span multiple time periods
and locations. It features a setting in Jerusalem during the third crusade, Italy during
the Renaissance, New England during the Revolutionary War, the Caribbean during
the colonial era, Louisiana during the colonial era, France during the French
Revolution, England during the Victorian era, and Egypt during ancient Egypt (49
B.C). To be sure that they are historically accurate in their depiction of an era, the
developers speak with historians about said era. Each game has the player involved
with real world historical events and figures, such as the player helping Paul Revere
warns multiple people that the British are approaching Lexington. The newest game
takes place in ancient Egypt, and contains a feature called Discovery Tour , which
disables combat and allows the player to freely explore Egypt, as though it were a
museum. The game, while having grim gameplay, still incorporates accurate
historical facts about the era. Assassin s Creed is a very successful franchise, and in
effect, has inadvertently taught it s many players about

The contemporary mafiosi are descendents of the seventeenth Century highwaymen and Cossack robbers. These men occasionally murdered families prior to raids preventing them from being captured. The Russia mafiosi made a point to remain aloof from the state. Mob men were actually spurned when returning home from fighting in the Great Patriotic War. The gangs begin to dominate markets such as car sales, spare parts, cigarettes, food distribution, and other markets that the Communist Party failed to provide under the Bolsheviks (Remnick196). This guarantees that nearly all new businesses will have an affiliation with the mafia. Gustatson estimates that payments can are approximately twenty percent of the profit (105). This is a major form of taxation on top of what the government already commands leading many companies to tax evasion or concealing their exact value. These acts forfeit what little protection the authorities might be able to render. The mafia demands a cut of the earnings but in turn furnish more than adequate security. The mafiosi provides protection from unaffiliated criminals and rival gangs. They ensure that property is not damaged or stolen. If entrepreneurs are visited by another organization, they must only summon their own mafia group. The two gangs will settle the matter themselves (Gustatson 105). This security is an asset that the State seemingly fails to provide. The Russian Mafia has more men and weapons than the Russian law enforcement. The police force is an intently corrupt place as is much of the Russian government. Both army officers and law enforcers are frantic for cash and willing to sell weapons such as guns, grenades, and rocket launchers (Remnick 109). The Russian Mafia is able to easily locate weaponry to carry out its duties as protectorate; while, the

An athletic 20 year man is playing basketball and suddenly collapses on the court and dies. On a hot July day, a young and vibrant college football player suddenly makes a great tackle and never gets up.. only to be pronounced dead 5 minutes later. High School track runner dies after finishing second in a race. The sad truth is 1 out of 50,000 young adults will fall victim to Sudden Death. The strategy used by Target Corporation was thus compared with other players in the industry to determine the efficiency of its methods as well as the integrated improvements that can be made in the supply chain of the Target Corporation. Two models have been considered in this comparison. The Veterans Administration ( Va ) Abstract Much like the people who serve and will ultimately utilize this organization, The Veterans administration (VA) has a set of core values each member of the armed forces live by: integrity, respect, excellence, advocacy and commitment. The VA has always signified a place of hope and security for veterans past and present. For those who serve the expectation is that when they need medical, dental, housing, educational and other assistance the VA would be there. Marred by problems over the years and recently in the media highlighted for long wait times to receive medical attention , bureaucratic red tape to receive the benefits these veterans have earned, some have paid the ultimate price (death) which they expected to happen in some foreign land not at home. This paper endeavors to take an in depth look at the VA and access and analyze some of its programs and policies to judge their effectiveness. With any large organization, there will be issues maintaining the set principles. As each agency strives to operate day to day under the mission established by the federal government and the Pentagon they soon realize that being a civilian working in the VA means service to country as the y seek to administer care to our Vets. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I learned more, I found out that one of the major goals of a community college is to prepare a student to a four year university. I also discovered later on that it is actually cheaper spending two years in a Community College, rather than going straight to a university. Most private universities cost around $36,000 per year. That s $144,000 for four years of attendance! Public state universities are far cheaper, costing $9,000 per year on average. However, after four years, this price is still $36,000 (Eneriz) This is something an incoming freshman should consider and measure the value of, after all I don t think any student would be able to afford this massive cost of tuition out of their pocket. Being curios and inexperienced, it lead me to research about how most students are able to afford attending a university, whether they re going straight out of high school, or a transferee from a community college. Obviously student Loans may be perceived as heaven sent to those students who need funding, but most of the time it can be just a wicked trick to trap someone in decades of debt. Character Analysis Of The Secret World Of Arrietty The Secret World of Arrietty was released in Japan on July 17, 2010, The film received extremely positive reviews that praise the animation and music. It became the highest grossing Japanese film at the Japanese box office in 2010 and grossed over $145 million worldwide. Arrietty is first seen brazenly running through the garden in full daylight on daring foraging expeditions, fending off menacing grasshoppers and outfoxing an apoplectic cat. She is revealed to be an only child on the eve of her first borrowing expedition, which her father approves of due to their species diminishing. A full shot is incorporated when discussing Arrietty s ability to go on her first borrowing trip. While the father s serious personality and placement in the middle would normally indicate his power over the household, Arrietty easily manages to invade his space and raise her voice at him, which obliterates any evidence of her being submissive. Arrietty s personality at the start of the film is borderline arrogant and it derives from her natural abilities as a borrower. For example, her quick reflexes allows her to defend herself from a bug using only a makeshift weapon. Arrogance and recklessness are usually not related to females, due to the stereotype that they are followers and always levelheaded. Sean is the main supporting character, who is sickly, frail and weak, which is an enormous contrast to Arrietty s over supply of energy and strife for life. His presence emphasizes how Arrietty

We believe that most of us are rational human beans (to some extent) and, therefore, our decisions should be grounded in analysis of the situation, our experience and intuition. Therefore, the human mind can be seen as an incredibly complicated machine that runs series of theoretical simulations of possible situations (often subconsciously) to find the most optimal course of action, taking into consideration the possible strategies of others. When the decisions are important to us and the reasoning process is conscious, we engage in strategic thinking. It has always been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Oxford English dictionary the definition of game theory is as follows the branch of mathematics concerned with the analysis of strategies for dealing with competitive situations where the outcome of a participant s choice of action depends critically on the actions of other participants. Game theory has been applied to contexts in war, business, and biology. From the definition we see the important factors are the mathematical analysis, different strategic options with different outcomes (pay offs) and the interdependence of the players. Therefore it indeed looks like the so desired theory described in the introduction of the essay, however, what does it actually deliver, that is the main focus of this essay. Modern game theory has been developing now for more than 50 years since the book Theory of Games and Economic Behavior by John von Neumann and Oskar Morgenstern was published in 1944. However, it must be noted that some important efforts in explaining the strategic choices strategic decision making has been done also before, for example by Zermelo. Konong, Kalmar and Borel. Game theory has evolved considerably since the publication of von Neuman and Morgenstern s book and what is interesting the theory has developed far beyond its initial mathematical boundaries. This is due in a large part to contributions in the 1950s from John Nash (1950, 1951). However, it was in the 1970s

Procopius record of the Emperor Justinian and his wife Theodora spans over his three works, the Buildings, the Wars, and the Anecdota, or Secret History. Procopius hostile portrayal of Empress Theodora in his Anecdota represents his aim to defame of her husband Justinian as well as to express his personal objections to Theodora s legitimacy and authority. However, power is a characteristic conventionally attributed to elite men in Roman society, not women. The notion that Theodora, a woman of low birth and a reformed prostitute nonetheless, exercises more power than previous consorts conflicts with these societal conventions. Her use of power in the Secret History is cruel and tyrannical, as she imprisoned and tortured her enemies in secret dungeons, including Procopius employer Belisarius. Theodora s exercises of power are portrayed much differently, however, in other sources, such as her protection of the Oriental Orthodox community. Additionally, his account of the Nika riots, Theodora asserts herself by speaking to Justinian and the Senate on the necessity of staying, rather than fleeing, contrasting her husband s cowardice. Through this, Theodora is demonstrating the traditionally masculine characteristic of courage, which is not only improper but also unnatural to Procopius, as someone who prescribes to the conventional notions of sexuality. Death and funerary customs were important to Mycenaean religion as well as rituals. There are both similarities and differences between the two types of riding. Regardless of the style of riding people participate in or favor, each world of riding opens up various activities for the rider to enjoy. Western horses and stockier and they tend to be shorter than English horses. Western horses tend to be compact and capable of steady travel all day with small bursts of speed to chase stray cattle (Blocksdorf 2016). Of course, a Quarter horse can participate in the English discipline, and a Dutch Warmblood could participate in reining, but those breeds are usually specifically bred for either English or Western disciplines. A similarity between English and Western riding is the posture. Both types of riding require the rider to sit up straight in the saddle and have their heels down. Comfortably and securely sitting in the saddle requires you to keep your hands down, tuck your elbows in, and push your shoulders back. Good posture in the saddle is essential to riding correctly. For example, A balanced rider is able to maintain this center of balance through all paces. I call this the independent riding posture . The riding posture is the position the rider establishes in the saddle, at all paces. An independent riding posture gives the rider a stable base allowing them to use their legs, seat, and hands

It s an umbrella concept that encompasses both emotions and moods.5 Emotions are intense feelings that are directed at someone or something.6 Moods are feelings that tend to be less intense than emotions and that often (though not always) lack a contextual stimulus.7 Most experts believe that emotions are more fleeting than moods.8 For example, if someone is rude to you, you ll feel angry. That intense feeling of anger probably comes and goes fairly quickly, maybe even in a matter of seconds. When you re in a bad mood, though, you can feel bad for several hours. Emotions are reactions to a person (seeing a friend at work may make you feel glad) or event (dealing with a rude client may make you feel angry). You show your emotions when you re happy about something, angry at someone, afraid of something. 9 Moods, in contrast, aren t usually directed at a person or event. But emotions can turn into moods when you lose focus on the event or object that started the feeling. And, by the same token, good or bad

The ban on large sugary drinks more than 16 ounce at food service establishments proposed by The New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg sparked a heated debate over this question. Proponents of the ban justified it by citing studies which showed excessive amount of sugar causes obesity and has many other serious negative effects on health. They argued that such consequences have negative effect for the whole society, in form of additional health care and social welfarecost. Opponents of the ban argued that it imposes an unjustified and unnecessary limit on personal freedom, does not reach the intended goal of limiting obesity, and sets precedent for excessive government overreach. Both sides have strong arguments, I am inclined to side with the opponents of the ban mainly because I am wary of unnecessary government overreach but I am on the border and ready to change my opinion in future. They can argue that the ban does not include supermarkets, so the consumer can go and buy as much sugary beverage he/she wants somewhere else. In a legal context the question is whether based on the constitution and other governing laws in the country and the state, the city officials have the legal authority to impose such a ban. • 26. Medieval Gender Roles In The Middle Ages By any metric, the middle ages in Europe was not an egalitarian society. Gender roles were heavily ingrained in the culture, with men meant to have aggressive masculine traits, and women to have fragile feminine traits. The practice of minting coins was perfected by Roman Emperors such as Augustus, Vespasian, and Diocletian, and as many Roman customs did, it became adopted by medieval kings, particularly Anglo Saxonsones. The minting of coins not only served as a way to facilitate the exchange of goods and services, but they also were political tools utilised by leaders. Cynethryth, Queen of Merciaand Wife of Offa the Great, was the only Anglo Saxon Queen we know of who issued her own coinage1. This not only has implications for the political eptitude of Cynethryth, but also has significance to understanding of medieval gender roles and how women in power operated and exercised authority. To properly understand the insignia on the physical coin, it is first important to understand the historical background. From the arrival of the Germanic peoples collectively known as the Anglo Saxons to the invasion of William of Normandy, the political system in Great Britain was primarily divided into seven different Kingdoms called the Heptarchy( hept meaning seven and archy meaning rule)2. These Kingdoms were Wessex, East Anglia, Northumbria, Sussex, Mercia, Kent, and Essex. The Mercian border fluctuated over time, but it was generally in power over the modern day midland region

There were many times along the way that I would use the author s ideas without properly accrediting them. Finding the information and resources to best suit my arguments was not an issue; however, incorporating citations to give credit to them was an issue. This letter will be mainly focused on the first paper, the summary, as it was my weakest attempt at writinga college level paper. Since the summary paper was the first paper I ve written for my college career, I can firmly assert that it was the paper I was most confused on as to what was necessary to make it into a success. I felt as though I had managed to get many of the author s views out into the open at the cost of some misinterpretation and unused in text citation. McClelland s ideas often mixed with my own, which served as a slippery slope to losing the context of who said what as you pointed out within the comments on the paper. A specific example would be in paragraph two of the unrevised paper 1. Another thing that ended up hindering my paper was the underdevelopment of some of the most important points to McClelland s argument

Crime statistics are therefore central to solving crime in England and Wales. In order for crime to be tackled effectively, it is vital that it is measured accurately. There are two sources of crime statistics published annually in the UK namely policerecorded crime and the Crime Survey of England and Wales. According to the Crime Survey of England and Wales, in total there were 7.1 million incidents of crime in 2013 2014. Although there has been an 11% reduction in crime, several categories of crime such as sexual offences, fraud and public order offences are up from the previous year. In comparison, latest figures from police recorded crime shows no overall change from the previous year, with 3.7 million offences recorded in the year ending March 2014. Whilst Left Realists argue that crime statistics are an accurate indicator of the state of crime in society, the disparities between the sources of crime statistics suggest that crime statistics provide an inaccurate measurement of crime in the UK. Marxists believe that crime statistics are flawed and manipulated by the government in an attempt to deceive the public. Research calculated by Her Majesty s Inspectorate of Constabulary supports this view as it revealed that more than 800,000 offences are left off the official crime figure in England and Wales each year. The idea of oversexualization towards female characters is that they have been often drawn and animated in hypersexual ways. Even going as far as viewing them as a sex object, their revealing body images are eye candy through the eyes of men. Hence women found in comic books and video games are frequently emphasized by their excessive physical appearances, objectification, portrayal, and character role. So, what does oversexualize mean anyway? The term oversexualize defines as to sexualize excessively, which means to make something of sexual that is beyond degree in this case, a person or someone of a gender whether male or female can be oversexualized. To begin with, costumes that female characters wear are far more or less provocative clothes, but mainly towards sexually explicit ways. Various methods and strategies have been used in the attempt to establish an independent state, but the prevailing conditions have always been against the Kurds, until the second Gulf War and the toppling of Saddam. This is attributed to the lack of many defining characteristics of a state, thus Weber s notion of a state can be used to describe the prevailing conditions within the Iraqi Kurdistan (Zunes 19). She was the first of a new generation of independent women, women outside of the control of the Mrs. Walkers of the world: women who were free. In life, Daisy was looked at as a womanof ill repute by the socialites who mattered in Europe, but in death, she superseded this role, and became something much more: a symbol of rebellion. In this way Daisy s death challenged the social order. By loosing her life, she showed just how powerful a woman could be. Using a lens of New Historicism, the reader is able to recognize much more from the behavior of Daisy in contrast to using a lens submerged in today s mentality. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During battle and wartime, in the experience stage, all of the frivolous emotions and concerns are melted away as this newly realized proximity to death brings a new appreciation for life and the truly important things. The things that truly matter to a man may vary and some of them, such as love, fear, comfort, and compassion, are intangible. And yet it is these intangible things and not direct orders from a commander that drive a man onward during war. Unfortunately, war not only reveals the innermost truths of a man s character, it also destroys his capacity for leading a normal life upon his return home. Once a man has confronted his personal demons and come to some sort of understanding regarding his place in the universe and the inevitability of death, he has an extremely difficult time acclimating himself to civilian life once the war ends. Of all the novels read in War Literature, Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness and two Tim O Brien novels: Going After Cacciatoand The Things They Carried, best illustrate the inability of a soldier to deal with his original settings after returning from war. By studying the actions of Marlow, Paul Berlin, and Tim O Brien (both the author and the character) after they leave the war, it is clear that they each use their own unique war experiences to deal with
  • 44. Ruth And Elliot Barbie, Seeing Things Others Do Not Izzy (latter change to Elliot) and Ruth Handler were husband and wife that complemented each other s skills when it came to business. Elliot was the dreamer, who I have often refer to in business as the Oracle or someone that can see things that other can not. Ruth, by contrast, had a business mind and is what I like to call the General. They had two kids named Barb and Ken. Together Elliot and Ruth started a toy company they called Mattel. Elliot s first product inspiration was that of a plastic ukulele, which was closely followed by a toy piano. Since they were short of capital, Ruth and Elliot would attend toy fairs where store buyers would go to sell their new toy ideas. Even though they had successful products, the Handler s lost money since they were relatively inexperienced in manufacturing and distribution. They underestimated their costs, which significantly ate into their margins. Even though the musical toys sold over 20 million units, there was no margin that the company could use to grow. They figured they had to go big or go home. They figured that if you are going to drive off the cliff, it is better to leave no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While this practice seems incredibly short sighted today, no one thought to market products to children at the time. There was a new TV show ready to debut. Mattel bet the farm and agreed to became a sponsor for a new show. The show was called The Wonderful World of Disney and proved to be a big hit, especially with kids. The product that Mattel was marketing was a Burp Gun, a toy that made a burping sound instead of a bang when the child pulled the trigger. Since the audience of the show was kids, it was the first time marketers focused on selling to kids and not to their parents. Being a sponsor of The Wonderful World of Disney proved to be a brilliant move and the company s revenue grew three fold almost

  • 46. Piano Recital Proposal The concert I decided to attend was a piano recital performed by Dr. Stephen Carlson, a member of the Bemidji State University Music Department since 2006. Dr. Carlson is an exceptional soloist who has performed at multiple venues and events across the United States, including Carnegie Hall and Minnesota Valley Sommarfest. He is also an exceptional teacher, providing workshops, master classes, and clinics to further advance his students knowledge of playing the piano. Schools such as the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, Gustavus Adolphus College, and St. Joseph s School of Musichave had the honor of calling Dr. Carlson their piano instructor. I attended his recent piano recital on Friday, February 24th, 2017 at the Carl O. Thompson Recital... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Carlson is FrГ©dГ©ric Chopin s Polonaise in A flat Major, op.53. I felt as if this composition was a good definition of program music. I enjoyed this piece because it seemed to tell a story throughout. The performer used tonality to help tell the story, especially in this piece. Dr. Carlson would build the tension up multiple times throughout this song, only to resolve it and give a sense of relief to the audience. I enjoyed it because the song brought on multiple different emotions. One minute, tensions would be high and the performance seemed frantic, when suddenly the tonality changes and big boastful notes that make you feel proud and mighty thunder out of the piano. When I thought of a piano recital, I was not expecting the emotion Dr. Carlson put into playing the piano, both shaking the audience at times, and quieter than a church mouse at others. I think some of the most memorable parts were the lengthy and mesmerizing solos Dr. Carlson displayed. I found myself lost in the emotion of the piano, and lost watching his fingers play the notes at super speed. Other memorable parts included loud, triumphant scenes, that followed the quieter, more thought provoking segments. These parts usually caught me off guard, which only improved the performance by immersing me deeper into the piece. I would compare Polonaise in A Flat Major to the Preludes after the intermission. The Preludes by Sergei Rachmaninoff used tonality as well to build up

  • 48. Assassin s Creed History Video games were first created for the sole purpose of entertainment. We found that people loved to play video games and started to play them as much as they watched TV. Educators and game developers decided to use that to their advantage by implementing facts and details to help teach and fuel learning in video games. Even video games that have a sole purpose of entertainment have historically accurate stories. In this new age of gaming, video games are now able to provide entertainment and knowledge.
