Unit 8 P1 Health And Safety Essay
No matter what sort of business or organisation you re involved with there s always the possibility
of an accident or damage to someone s health. All work exposes people to hazards be they:
Dangerous machinery, electricity, manual handling, etc.
This is why the current health and safety regulations and legislation are vitally important to both
employer and employee. There are many laws, legislation and regulatory bodies in place to ensure
proper health and safety is practiced these include The Health and Safety at Work Etc Act (HSWA),
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulations (COSHH), Reporting of Injuries, Diseases
and Dangerous Occurrences Regulation (RIDDOR), United Kingdom Accreditation Service
(UKAS), Medicines and Healthcare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The need for COSHH is to minimise the risk associated with hazardous substances. Most
businesses use substances be they substances such as acids or poisons to items like cleaning
products or batteries, all of these could cause harm to employees, contractors and other people.
COSHH ensures these hazards are known and controlled by properly trained people.
RIDDOR is a law concerning the reporting of accidents in the work place, this includes accidents
resulting in death of any person, accidents resulting in specified injuries to workers, non fatal
accidents requiring hospital treatment to non workers and dangerous occurrences. RIDDOR is
needed to provide information that enables the health and safety executive to identify how and
where risks arise and where investigations are needed to make sure health and safety laws are not
breached.
UKAS is the sole national accreditation body recognised by the British government to assess the
competence of organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection, and calibration services.
In short they Test the testers . UKAS are needed to ensure better regulation, fair markets, public
confidence in products and services, and makes sure there is a universal standard in areas as
diverse as healthcare, food production, energy supply, and personal

Network Security Practices Essay
Today s corporate infrastructure is not the same as it was 10 years ago. In the past you were able
to control the amount of attacks on a network because of the reasonable number, which is not the
case today. At any given time an organizations network will be attacked or try to be attacked
several hundred times in one day. For larger more well known organizations this number could
grow significantly. To ensure your organization is not one of the ones on the 10 oclock news you
have to ensure you have proper securitypractices in place to secure your network.
Most people in the security field agree that good security policies are necessary to keep intruders
out and keep the users along with the information on their network safe. The best way ... Show more

Having this type of accountability will help you in having a better understanding and provide for a
good foundation for enforcing security across the organization. This area should also cover the
different types of data each person handles on a daily basis. It should clearly outline the different
categories that data will fall into whether it be internal, external, general use or confidential. By
doing so you now allow the employees to have a better understanding of what data they can
manipulate and data that has to stay the same.
2. Remote Access Policies users are always going to want to access the office network from a
remote site. We have to ensure that there are policies in place that allow them to do so but in a
safe manner. If they are going to remotely access the network it has to be done in accordance
with the security policies of the organization and not on their terms. This should include using a
laptop or remote connection software that has been pre approved by the organizations security
team, keeping IP s in a safe place, making sure that if they are accessing the network from a
laptop to ensure that hard drive is encrypted. This will prevent anyone from gaining access the
sensitive information if it is ever lost or stolen. Lastly not everyone should be granted remote
access to the network; this privilege should only be given to people who have a legitimate need for
it.
3. Network Connected Devices Once a device is connected to the

The healthcare industry consists of many smaller industries that provide services to both private

Girls Participation In High School Sports
Since the passage of Title IX in 1972, girls participation in high school sports has increased
dramatically,[11] by one estimate by more than 900%. (HORWITZ ACL). The sports
participation from females is great, but females playing sports means more knee injuries. It is the
injury rate that comes with females playing hard core sports. Females who are involved in sports
that include twisting and turning ( almost all), are more likely to be injury prone than males
playing the same sport (Lippincott). Females are more injury prone as they mature. On a female,
the knee is one of the most vulnerable part of the body for many reasons.
As females develop and go through the natural stages of life, they develop more estrogen. Estrogen

Males and females develop with different size bones and ligaments, the older they get. As males
get older the bones and ligaments get bigger. This helps them because they tend to play more of the
physical and aggressive sports, where they are strongest. After puberty in the male body, more
strength develops automatically from the hormone testosterone as well. When females are done
going through puberty, their overall size of their ACL is smaller and weaker. Research shows that,
Not only does the intercondylar notch (the groove in the femur through which the ACL travels)
tend to be smaller in women, but so is the ACL itself, leading it more prone to injury (HORWITZ
ACL). One disadvantage that females have, is the size of the ACL. According to Orthopedic
Surgeon Steve Horwitz there is another disadvantage, It is well established that female athletes
typically have poor hamstring strength,[3] which is considered one possible risk factor for ACL
ruptures.[4] If the hamstring cannot balance the power of the quadriceps (front thigh muscle), the
imbalance can cause significant stress to the ACL, leading to injury (HORWITZ ACL). An
unbalanced set of lower leg muscles has a big effect on every movement in sports and it is
important to keep that strength up at a higher level. Most female athletes have one stronger leg,
which makes it a constant fight to get the knees to a balanced strength and a risk to a knee injury
(ModernMedicineACL). When females decide to emphasize strengthening as part of their workout,
it decreases their risk of

Culture And The Asian Culture
Culture plays an important role in many of the addictions that people succumb to. As clinicians, it
is important for us to be aware of the implication that culture has on diagnosing addictions and
treating the addiction. In order to treat clients more effectively we should have some knowledge
about specific cultures and their relation to some compulsive behaviors or addictions. For this
assignment, I decided to explore the Asian culture in relation to gambling. Many studies have shown
that the Asian culture account for a significant population seen in casinos and the gambling world.
In this paper I will explore how cultural factors might impact specific behaviors. In addition, I will
examine how a culture may impact the treatment process in order to gain more information for
future work with this population.
Gambling his been around for hundreds of years. Gambling is the wagering of money or something
of material value on an event with uncertain outcome with the primary intent on winning additional
money or material goods. This can be seen in horse racing, card games, and many other avenues
where betting is involved. Gambling addiction is similar to a substance addiction in many ways.
Problematic gambling can involve repeated unsuccessful efforts to control, cut back or stop
gambling, feelings of restlessness, irritability when attempting to stop or cut down gambling habits,
and the diminished ability to resist the impulse to gamble despite serious consequences

New Living Translation Vs English Translation Essay
I chose to look at the New King James, New International, New Living Translation and Revised
Standard Version, in addition to my original translation choice of English Standard Version. I
choose the New King James, New Living Translation, and English Standard Version to compare
because I feel they provide the most distinct differences between translations. I found that the
textual variations did not change the textual meaning but the emphasis of some parts of the text. We
can find in verse one, the NKJ version mentions they, and certain other women with them Both the
ESV and NLT put all of the women in the same category under the pronoun they . This variation of
text adds more emphasis on women in the resurrection account. In verse four,... Show more content

The EVS version has a period. The exclamation point at the end of this phrase not only emphasizes
this miracle, but also shows expression of joy, awe, and excitement about the news of Jesus being
the Messiah that came to save. The next text variation that I found was in verse seven. This is a
small variation of wording. In the NLT, it uses the word betrayed while the NKJ and ESV are
using the word delivered when describing Jesus arrest and crucifixion. The use of betrayed
makes the verse seem more personal because betrayed in the English language has a negative and
hurtful connotation. When someone is betrayed, they are abandoned, hurt, and in pain. The usage
of this word, I feel, adds emphasis on Jesus feelings and makes it more personal for the readers
who have been betrayed in the past. Next, I found that in verse nine the use and placement of
rushed adds emphasis that when the women remembered what Jesus had said, they had to tell the
disciples, and others, about the fantastic news they had just heard. Returning in the ESV and NKJ
versions is adequate too, but one can read it as they went back without haste or at a normal speed
to tell what they had witnessed. The term rushed makes the women at the tomb seem more excited
and awe struck that they had to share with

Search for Innocence in American Modernism Essay
Search for Innocence in American Modernism
American Literature from its very beginning has been centered around a theme of innocence. The
Puritans wrote about abandoning the corruption of Europe to find innocence in a new world. The
Romantics saw innocence and power in nature and often wrote of escaping from civilization to
return to nature. After the Civil War, however, the innocenceof the nation is challenged. The
Realists focused on the loss of innocence and in Naturalist works innocence is mostly gone.
During these periods of American Literature it seems almost as if a hole was being dug, a sort of
emptying of innocence, and after World War I the Modernists called this hole the wastelandMany
Modernist works focus on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, a return to innocence is almost like a return to virtue. The example of this that comes
most readily to mind is the complete turn around of Jean Valjean in Victor Hugo s Les Miserables.
It is remembering that the world really can be a place filled with beauty and wonder, virtue and
meaning, and then acting so as to belong to that world, rather than the world of the wasteland.
What does it mean to belong to the world of the wasteland?
Son of man,
You cannot say, or guess, for you know only
A heap of broken images, where the sun beats
And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief,
And the dry stone no sound of water. (Eliot, 1448)
Son of man refers to Ezekiel II, I where God directs Ezekiel to stand. The inhabitants of the
wasteland are fallen and unenlightened, their personalities and world fragmented. There is no love
in the wasteland, only alienation. The couple in Hills Like White Elephants find themselves unable
to communicate, as is shown by their meaningless and shallow conversations and their inability to
understand one another when they do say anything meaningful. This lack of communication is also
displayed in the following lines of The Wasteland:
My nerves are bad to night. Yes, bad. Stay with me.
Speak to me. Why do you never speak. Speak.
What are you thinking of? What thinking? What?
I never know what you are

A Biblical world worldview is how a Bible believing Christian ought to see the world. The basic
components that make up a biblical world view are well to start the Bible is God breathed and
therefore has ultimate authority and is fully true. The Bible gives believers some clear cut
commands that should be used in developing ones worldview. But the Biblealso gives believers to

the standard that Christians should strive to imitate (with a lot of Gods grace). The Bible also clearly

The Open Destiny of Life
The Open Destiny of Life
In the short story A Conversation with My Father, written by Grace Paley, there are two stories
intertwined. The main story is about a visit between a middle aged woman and her elderly,
bedridden father. It is during this visit that the two of them discuss fiction and give their opinion
towards tragedy in literature and in life. The second is a story that the daughter creates for her
father at his request. She proceeds to tell him a story about a mother who, in order to be closer to
her drug addicted son, decides to experiment with the same drug and becomes a drug addict
herself, only to be deserted by the son when he rises above his dependency. Building on her
relationship with her own father, Paley ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, it is obvious that these two stories mirror each other in the sense that they are about tenuous
but essential connections between parents and their children. The daughter abhors the kind of story
her father wants because it is limiting. He, meanwhile, rejects her tale because he sees in it her
inability to face tragic realities of fiction and life, including his impending death. Their different
attitudes towards the possibility of opportunities and change, fictional or real, stem from their
different world views and experiences. She went to college, but dropped out to become a writer,
hoping to win his affection. He loves her, but does not approve of her dropping out of school,
her writing style, or her views on life. In the narrative she creates for him, the father she would
rather have surfaces as the mother who uses drugs as a means of being closer to be her son. One
wonders what his perfect daughter would have been like, had he written the tale. Would he have
wanted her to be more like him? Would he have preferred her to be inferior? Would everything
have been different? . . . maybe.
Throughout the story, two reoccurring themes are experience and opportunity. The narrator
believes that fiction should reflect the opportunities of life not available to previous generations. In
comparison, her father prefers the works of authors with whom he can relate, the kind of writers
who spoke of a

The Fault in Our Tsars
The evolution of Russian absolutism brought a new era of social and cultural expectations that
drastically altered the life and society of Russia until the twentieth century. The impact the evolution
of absolutism had on Russian life cannot be understated nor can it be overlooked. Therefore, it is
important for us to look at three key defining eras during which absolutism was strongest in Russia:
the Mongols, Ivan IV, and Peter the Great. These three rulers helped to shape much of what would
be defined as the Russian absolutism that would shape the future of the Russian Empire.
While it would be easy to begin our exploration of Russian absolutism with the reign of Ivan the
Terrible, the true beginnings of absolutist rule in Russia came with the arrival of the Mongols.
Known to the Russian people as Tatars, the Mongols ruled over Russia with an iron fist and
exposed them to Eastern religion. As a result of this, Russia remained secluded from the advancing
world of the west and it prohibited growth that the rest of Europe was experiencing. The Mongols
were conquerors and destroyed everything that caused them grief or they did not understand. While
the Mongols would allow for much of the cultural distinctions to remain in their conquered
territories they would demand tribute or the population would have to face the consequences. Even
though this is not quite the same concept many absolutist rulers employed for their land the

Although it is possible for deaf children to attend public schools and succeed, research suggests
that it is best for them to have their own environment, says Meagan McDonough. It is already
hard enough for a hearing student to find his/her place in the classroom, but when you add being
deaf to the list, a major challenge presents itself. This deaf student must work extra hard to keep
up and be able to read the lips of his/her teachers and fellow peers, and learn to communicate.
Even though accommodations are made and sometimes interpreters are given, it is hard for the
student to feel welcome. If this student were to attend a deaf school, he/she would not have to
work so hard and would find it much easier to communicate and socialize both of which are major
focuses in a high school student s life. In Meagan McDonough s article Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Children in Public Schools , she states that public schools might not be best for deaf students,
but if they start out in a deaf school and eventually integrate into a hearing school, they will be
better off and be able to keep up. I agree with her in that it is good for a child to at least start his
/her education in a deaf school so that the base of their foundation is laid by something they can
understand. If later they feel comfortable trying out a public school, they may do so and will
find it easier to be and feel included. However, if ASL was to be offered in all public schools and
colleges, it would give hearing students the chance to be able to communicate and be more
comfortable with deaf

African American Women Arrival in Colonies Essay
In 1619, the first African Americans arrived in the colonies. Only a handful of survivors had
outlasted a gruesome sea voyage. They had all been taken during a raid of a Spanish ship that was
sailing for the Spanish West Indies. During the next few years, many African Americans were
uprooted from their homelands and forced into slavery. They were unwillingly taken from their
families and tribes, forced onto slave ships, and forced to endure cruel treatment at the hands of
their captors. Many of the African Americanwomen were sexually assaulted during their time on
the ship, and in many cases, it would not stop when they reached port. Upon their arrival in the
colonies, the slaves that survived would be auctioned off or used for... Show more content on

If a child was born to an African American woman in slavery, often times it wouldn t survive
because of the same poor conditions. Once an African American woman completed her daily work
for her master, she returned home to her community, set up among other slaves. This community
was usually located away from the living quarters of her master. In this community, the African
American men and women tried to preserve some of the customs native to their respective
countries. They grew vegetables that they once grew on their home soil, held traditional
ceremonies, and practiced long established birthing methods. Many African American women

Many times, after years of companionship, they were separated because of death or one being

Among African women living in the colonies, there existed different living and even life

African American women gained their freedom by working their way out of slavery, being
rewarded with freedom at their owner s request, or through fleeing from their master. In some
instances, African Americans were awarded emancipation from the court. After being freed, African

Doping is not Dope in Athletics
Doping is Not Dope Should athletes be able to use performing enhancement drugs. Many athletes
are trying to get a competitive edge on their competition and some start by taking performing
enhancement drugs, even though taking them could be devastating and detriment to them
personally. Using performance enhancing drugs comes with many risks physically and
emotionally. Performance enhancing drugs is as known as doping . There are many kinds of
steroids such as anabolic steroids, human growth hormones, androstenedione, designer steroids and
stimulants to name a few (mayoclinic.com, 2012). Even though athletes see performance
enhancing drugs as a positive and a career advancement advantage, all of them are very harmful to
your body and has many side effects. Some of the advantages that the athletes see in these
performance enhancement drugs are promotion of muscle building. It also helps them to recover
after they have had a hard workout, which when a normal person works out, they are a lot of times
sore from the physical activity; however these drugs make them less sore. In addition, these drugs
temporarily boost Chism 2 performance in the athletes. It does give them an advantage over other
athletes when it comes to performance of their sport. But it is an unfair advantage. While taking
performance enhancing drugs, comes many side effects. For both men and women there are

Age of reason Essay
The Age of Reason was a period in time during the 18th century in Europe and America when man
become enlightened by reason, science, and humanity. The people involved with the Age of Reason
were convinced that human reason could discover the natural laws of the universe, the natural
rights of mankind, and the progress in knowledge. Each philosopher had his own ideas and
theories about the world, nature, and human beings in general, and every philosopher wrote many
essays and books about their own personal ideas and opinions (Sartre4). David Humewas born in

Rousseau was originally thought to be an engraver, but he soon ran away after three years to a

Jean Jacques Rousseau stated that the view of science, art, and social institutions has corrupted
humankind. He also stated that natural state is morally greater than civilized state. Later he stated
that it is more important to express yourself than to hold back on becoming a unique individual
(Hampshire, 149).
Jean Jacques Rousseau had a great deal to do with the movement of Western Europe. He supported
individual freedom, but disliked the abolishment of the church and the state. On top of that, Jean
Jacques Rousseau influenced romanticism in literature and philosophy in the early 19th century.

Benefits Of Living A Healthy Lifestyle
As human beings we all have the desire to live longer lives. Well according to recent studies the
key to longevity are diet and exercise. Living a healthy lifestyle can ultimately add years onto
your life expectancy. There are certain groups of people around the world who are living longer
lives. For instance let s consider the pacific islanders of Okinawa. They have a life expectancy of
more than 81, compared to the average life expectancy of 78 here in the United States. Another
example would be the Seven Day Adventist who primarily have vegetarian diets, who outlive their
neighbors on average by four to seven years. Researchers have also studied the residents on the San

Evaluation Of A Project Management ( Apm ) Essay
A project is a temporary organization that is created for the purpose of delivering one or more
business product in accordance to an agreed business case (PRINCE2 2005). However, this
definition doesn t seem to elaborate on all the principles and numerous factors, which define a
project as compared to Association for Project Management(APM). APM defines a project as an
endeavor in which, human materials and financial resources are organized in a novel. Therefore,
being able to deliver a unique scope of work of given specification often within constraints of cost
and time, in order to achieve beneficial changes which is defined by quantitative and qualitative
objectives. It s common for a project to be mistaken for an operation or vise verse. Though, the
difference between these two subject/principles is highly distinctive. George D (2000) states that an
operation is a permanent or ongoing execution of activities, which produces repetitive results, the
results maybe in a form of a product or service. An operation usually has the same resources, same
tasks and a standard output expectation.
For example, a construction company might embark on a project to purchase two heavy duty
dumb trucks to help transport materials on sites. This project will have a start date and a fixed
finish date. The project manager will set dates for the duration it will take to collect finances, with
the help from the finance office, when to make transactions and if the is training required for

A large number of real world applications, use audit trails or logs to keep in track of system usage
and error handling information. Security aspect of these log files and their retrieval from an
untrusted machine becomes a topic of vital importance in computer forensics investigation [2, 3].
Accurate retrieval of data from these log files for gathering information is another important aspect
in computer forensics [4]. In this paper, we look at the research for securing the log files in unsafe

1.2 Organization of Content in Paper
The rest of the paper is organized into various different sections as follows. In section 2, we give a
brief outline of the approaches for securing both the audit log files and well as the audit logs server
along with other security mechanisms. The third section includes a brief study of how we can
index and retrieve the data for any forensic investigation which may be quite essential in a fast
paced criminal investigation. The fourth section discusses in depth about the use of the valuable
information uncovered using log files and how they can help us find important patterns.
2. Description of Alternative Approaches
In this paper, mainly two ideas to secure the information in audit logs have been defined. One of
the first approaches is to secure only the audit files from attacker, such that, even if the machine is
compromised, the attacker will obtain no or very little knowledge from the current log files and is
not able to plant false information in the log file itself. The second approach is more concerned
with the securing the Log server itself by using encryption as well as dynamic IP techniques. Both
the methods have been defined in detail below.
2.1 Securing the Audit Logs
The audit log servers are differentiated into three different entities such as Untrusted Machine,

Shrew, this applies. In the outer layer of the play, you will see it confirm the traditional roles in that
era of men and women, being that women are weaker and that men are the stronger sex.
Throughout the play, they put the idea that a womanwith a strong will (Katherina) is bad, and
compare her to many taboo things, such as a prostitute. Few people think that Taming of the Shrew

Women During The Greek Period
Women during The Greek Period and Now Art and sculptures have been created since the
beginning of mankind in order to express themselves and demonstrate human potential. From
simple carvings on a rock walls to magnificent works of art, such as the sixteenth chapel, art has
continued to progress throughout time and it continues to progresses even further. There are
many different types of art to depict different things the artist wants to transfer to his viewers if
not created for himself. Since works of art are made to express aspects within life, it creates
symbolics meanings the vary on the message the artist wants to give out. Besides symbolic
meanings, a work of art can notify the viewer of the history during the time period it was created,
roles within society, the way people lived during the time it was made, how society functioned,
what they believed in, and many more things about life that are uncountable. Women were among
one of the things artist painted and sculpted about. They did this and continue to do this in order to
show what women meant to people during that time. Comparing an old painting with a
contemporary painting we can see how some aspects, techniques, and styles within the art have
changed and how women s roles have become different in society over the course of time. We can
also see what artistic aspects, techniques, and style have remained the same, and what we can see
what has remained the same about women today. We can view this when we

Descriptive Essay About Father
A warm smile and kind eyes is what attributes to a man, known as my father. He works hard and
is diligent, but what defines him is the kindness that is always visible within him. My father, Ben
Morgan, is forty eight with light brown hair, and turquoise eyes that always have a sense purpose
in them. From years of thinking, he has lines that rest by his eyes accompanied by the usual lines
that encircle a smile he shows to all. My father has a kindness in him, in which no one in our family
has. A few examples are: helping strangers in need, doing charityevents, and putting his family
above all else.
In particular, what makes my father have this kindness is he assists strangers in need. To
explain, one day we were driving to a Lowes near our house, I had not noticed, but apparently
two older ladies were walking in the opposite direction and one of them had fallen. My father had
seen this and when it was safe to do so had turned around in the silver dodge ram truck he was
driving. Once he caught up to them he had offered a ride to them, and it had turned out one of
the woman had a medical condition that was affecting her there and then. Thankfully it was not
too serious, but it had prevented her from walking normally. Once we reached their destination,
they thanked my father and praised him. While helping the two older ladies may be seen as a task
anyone would do, no one else had stopped, pulled over, and offered assistance to the two older
ladies. In today s world it is very

Globalisation refers to the integration between different countries and economies and the increased
impact of international influences on all aspects of life and economic activity. Brazil is one of the
fastest growing economies and superpower of South America. In the recent decade Globalisation
has allowed Brazil s economy to sustain stable economic growth, this was proven when Brazil

Cause And Effect Of Stress
Stress plays a prominent role in one s daily life. Thus, it is important to identify stress and learn
to reduce and cope with stress in order to prevent stress related illnesses that may occur. Stress
has a major influence upon one s health, thinking, behavior, and mood. Stress is commonly
mistaken for generally evoking negative associations; however, it is actually part of the human
experience that places pressure on people so that they may be able to perform at a higher level
achievement. Nonetheless, when stress becomes too much to handle, or becomes chronic, it
can affect an individual physically, mentally, behaviorally, and emotionally. What is stress?
According to Debra L. Nelson and James C. Quick, in Organizational Behavior, Stress, or the
stress response, can be described as the unconscious preparation to fight or flee that a person
experiences when faced with any demand (103). When an individual is stressed, the body thinks
it is under attack, releasing chemical messengers and hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol
to prepare the body for physical action. Through the release of hormones, it enables a person to
quickly respond to fight or flight. For example, a group of explorers are in the Amazon
rainforest, and they come across a jaguar; this sends a signal to the individuals that a threat has
approached, and sends information to their body giving them the fight or flight ability.
Furthermore, stress can be classified into two different branches: internal and external. Internal
is the ability to send messages and waves throughout our body, resulting in the release of
chemicals and hormones. On the other hand, external is the ability to sweat, blush, itch, or
anything that physically affects a person. Both of these factors control one s entire bodily
function of stress. Stress can be both positive and negative, and can impact how one interact and
function on a daily basis. Stress is commonly mistaken for generally evoking negative
associations, however a little stress can actually be good for a person. Accordingly, when the
body experiences a stressor, its fight or flight response kicks in as a way to protect oneself by
staying focused, alert, and allowing one the extra energy he or she need

The first part of Easter is Lent, a period of about 40 days before Easter Sunday that begins on Ash
wednesday. During Lent, Christians prepare for Easter. They consider it as a time for penance,
a time to show sorrow for sins and to seek forgiveness. 2 One common form of penance is
fasting, which limits the kinds or amounts of foods eaten. Holy Week is the final week of Lent
which recalls the events before Jesus s death and resurrection. Palm Sunday is the first day of
Holy Week that celebrates the story of Jesus triumphant entry into Jerusalem .2 Maundy
Thursday, the day before Good Friday, remembers Jesus s last meal and his imprisonment. On
this day Jesus went to pray in the garden of Gethsemane, when his friend Judas betrayed him and

I Have An Assignment For You
I have an assignment for you that will be more challenging than pressing up into handstand or
putting both legs behind your head. In fact, you have to be a real yogi to accept. Are you ready?
Here it is: Be nice all day, from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall asleep. Be
kind and generous in your thoughts, speech actions and feelings. If it sounds easy and you don t
believe me, try giving it a shot before you shrug it off.
Because in between traffic jams, travel delays, dirty dishes, barking dogs, screaming babies,
bills to pay, laundry piles and a thousand other things that line your to do list, it can be easy to get
annoyed or frustrated with the world around you. Take time to reflect on your day so far. If you
snapped at anyone ... judged someone harshly (including yourself) ... honked your horn in
frustration ... or harbored negativity of any kind ... then you failed the test already. See? It s not
as easy as it seems to be genuinely nice all day in every way. In fact, it might just be impossible.
After more than fifteen years of a steady Ashtanga Yogapractice, I now measure my success in the
practice of yoga by how long I m able to keep my emotional center spacious enough to be
genuinely kind. Trust me, it s almost easy to get on the mat and bend and twist your body in
comparison. And it is much harder to maintain a kind and generous heart in the face of adversity
and stress.

The Epic Of Alexander Pope s The Rape Of The Lock
Mock epic is a narrative poem which aims at mockery and laughter by using almost all the
characteristic features of an epic but for a trivial subject. Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock
is a famous mock epic. In it, there is invocation to Muses, proposition of subject, battles,
supernatural machinery, journey on water, underworld journey, long speeches, feasts (coffee
house), Homeric similes and grand style but all for a simple family dispute instead of a national
struggle. The grand treatment of a low subject produces hilarious laughter and makes the story more
ridiculous.
Firstly, Paradise Lost is a long epic poem by John Milton begins with the proposition of
justification of God s way to man with nice invocation to the Muses. And another epic poem titled
The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser follows the same manner. The subject matters in both of
the epic poems are grand. Like the epic poems, the poem The Rape of the Lock opens with the

applied to business organizations. In order to answer this question, it is necessary first to define the

the most happiness, it follows that it is not possible to decide which action is the right one. Also
a particular action generating a high degree of happiness may have unforeseen consequences
that have the opposite effect. Can it be morally right to have a completely innocent and well
person killed if two seriously ill people could be saved by an organ transplantation? Is an action
always and incontrovertibly right because it gives greatest happiness to the greatest number of
people? Brady(1999) refutes this: the majority vote is not an ethic; it is a social choice technique.
Deontology as promoted by Kant on the other hand denies that the right action is the one that
produces the best consequences. It is based on a set of moral rules, and the right action is
supposed to be the one that conforms with these rules, whereas certain other types of action are
morally forbidden. Deontology seems to appeal to common sense as duties include special
obligations to family and

Drug And Alcohol Rehab Facilities Essay
Why People Shy Away From Drug And Alcohol Rehab Facilities In Florida
It is very unfortunate that lies, half truths, and gross misinformation do not only travel faster but
also live longer in people s minds than the truth. This is why myths and stereotypes will continue to
thrive. A lot of people will continue to shy away from drug and alcohol rehab facilities in Florida
because of misinformation, misrepresentation, and misconception.
Here are the commonest reasons why addiction patients often refuse to seek help from drug and
alcohol rehab facilities in Florida even though they are in dire need of the help.
Possibility of stigmatization
Some people believe that both addiction and rehab are fraught with stigma from the society. The
fear of being branded an ex addict prevents them from going to any of the drug and alcohol rehab
facilities in Florida. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stigma is not real. It is perceived. Besides, even if the stigma really exists, is it not better to be
an ex addict than to die an addict? Besides, people who really love you will love you and respect
you even more for taking the courage to seek help. It is those who do not like you that will make
an issue out of it.
Sometimes, it is important to know your value. Do you know that surviving addiction puts you in
a good position to help and counsel addiction patients? This is because you have been there and
you know how it feels. Besides, you are a source of hope and motivation to addiction patients. You
stand as a testimony that being addicted to substance is not the end of one s life. Unfortunately,
you can only achieve that status if you survive addiction and you can only survive it if you seek
help now.
So, if stigma prevents you from seeking help, what will happen to those that should have used your
survival as a source of hope, inspiration, and motivation? With your continuous refusal, you will not
only be putting your life in danger, you will also be putting so many other lives in

The Effects Of Continuous And Partial Reinforcement On...
Effects of Continuous vs Partial Reinforcement on Reinstatement induced Relapse in Operant
Behaviour Mona Nourozi PSYCH203 University of Auckland Effects of continuous vs partial
reinforcement on reinstatement induced relapse in operant behaviour Research on behavioural
momentum theory has provided a theoretical framework for understanding the effects of extinction
and amount of relapse in relation to different conditional experiments (Nevin Shahan, 2011). WHAT
IS BEHAVIOURAL MOMENTUM THEORY This research is not only inherently interesting in
pure theory, but also in clinical practise and intervention and for that reason is important. Upon
further investigation of these concepts and how they interact with one another, we can discover
new connections and ultimately attempt to control or affect the results of such interactions.
Previous experiments have demonstrated that the resistance of operant behaviour depends on the
rate of reinforcement that is associated with that specific stimulus (Podlesnik Shahan, 2009). A
general finding that Nevin (as cited in Podlesnik Shahan, 2009) explores in this area is that the
higher the rate of reinforcement, the more resistant the response is to change. The more resistant a
response is, the more difficult it is to extinguish (Thrailkil Shahan, 2012). However, results from
other experiments are in conflict with what we would expect from this theory. The partial
reinforcement extinction effect has shown that

Why The Agent Is Fully Self Owning Essay
Libertarians hold that every agent is fully self owning. Every agent morally owns their own body,
just as they can morally own an inanimate object. A set of five rules comes with full ownership of
an entity. First, they control the right to use of their entity, both a liberty right to use it and a claim
right that others cannot use it (Vallentyne). Second, the agent has the right to compensation if
someone else uses the entity without the agent s explicit permission. Third, the agent has the right
to call upon enforcement rights. Fourth, the right to transfer these rights to another by sale, rent,
loan, or gift. Finally, the agent is immune to non consensual loss of these rights. At the core of the
rules of full ownership is the right to control the use of one s body. This is necessary when
considering certain actions that cannot be done without one s consent, but can be with their
consent. Because of an individual s inherent right to sexual autonomy, they have the right to act
how they want with their body.
Libertarians hold the view that prostitution is an activity between two consenting adults, which
should not be touched by the government or even an organized religion because they consider it to
be a victimless crime . They also they believe that it should not be subject to regulation, even if the
act does not involve love or even if it involves the exchange of money. Prostitution is done with
consent, which signifies that it is a expressions of oneself and the

Analysis Of Love And Rind Of Time By Carson Mcculler
In the Carson McCullers poem Love and Rind of Time represents the sense of eternity that there
are forward and backward in the time. Where the man evolving a mere half million years, this
mean, this time is so short comparing with the entire time, 500 thousand millions of year. The
writer gives a sense of the uncertain when he said: margin of error (3). He gives an idea that we
are not sure exactly about how much timethe earth has as if it was timeless. To live for some people
is a little harder than others but this no matter, as the human can disappear as the weed to dinosaur
and the dinosaur to the star. Therefore, the evolution of the humans a mere is a little part of the
history, as there may be many more. The writer state that the

Essay about The Campaign for Women’s Suffrage
The Campaign for Women s Suffrage The campaign developed at that time, as it was then the
rights of women began to improve. Though women were still thought of as second class citizens,
during the 1870 s the women s suffrage became a mass movement. Prior to 1870, there were laws
that meant that women were unable to keep any of their earnings once they married. That also
meant that all her possessions belonged to her husband as well. In 1870, the Married Women s
Property Act meant that women were allowed to keep ВЈ200 of their earnings. Women such as
Caroline Norton are what helped the campaign develop. After a court found that she was innocent
of adultery, Caroline Norton s husband left... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though these women worked hard, some would only make 120s, or 60 pence, a day. It was
reasons such as this that women demanded the right to vote. In 1867, The Second Reform Act
meant that 2.5 million male householders were able to vote out of a population 22 million. And
in 1884 The Third Reform Act meant that almost 5 million men were given the vote. This meant
almost two thirds of the male population. This meant that then working men were given the right
to vote, whereas women, who are in a higher class to them, still were unable to vote. Because of
the increasing number of men that were able to vote, it was thought that women should also be
able to receive the vote. 2. Describe the ways in which the methods of the suffragettes and the
suffragists were different. (15 marks) The suffragists (National Union of Women s Suffrage
Societies or NUWSS) were established in 1897. Their aim was to To promote the claim of
women to the Parliamentary vote on the same terms as it is or may be granted to men. This meant
that the suffragists did not want all women to have the vote, they only wished for women to have
equal footing to the men that already had the vote. The suffragist members were at first genteel,
well educated middle class women who were feeling frustrated. Though, later on more lower class
women joined, many of these factory workers who wanted

Death Of Prudencio Aguilar Research Paper
The death of Prudencio Aguilar, a boastful man who claimed that the rooster of [Jose] can do
[Ursula] a favor, at the hands of Jose serves as the first parallel to religion in One Hundred Years
of Solitude (21). The events that follow [Jose] killing his neighbor, Prudencio Aguilar, a murder
mirroring the first murder in the Bible, the founders of a new world civilization stop in
Macondo because Jose Arcadio Buendia, like Cain before him, who was a founder of cities had
dreamed of a great city (Saldivar 33). Jose, like Cain, dreams of something greater than Riohacha;
he dreams of a noisy city with houses having mirror walls rose up and the city s name had a
supernatural echo in his dream: Macondo (Marquez 24). Moreover, there are

Political Satire Satirical
Political Satire: Beneficial or detrimental?
The human race has one really effective weapon. And that is laughter, was said by Mark Twain.
Kelly Mcevers, host of NPR, National Public Radio, states that, President elect Trump lets it be
known when he d like something and when he doesn t. And he does not like the way Alec
Baldwin plays him on Saturday Night Live. Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump Siri... How do I kill
ISIS? The morning after this skit Trump tweeted that he had watched parts of the show and found
it totally one sided and biased and said there was nothing funny at all, but he should get used to it.
Making fun of politicians is a time honored tradition (Blair). Political satire is a part of satire that
intends to expose and criticize foolishness, corruption and hypocrisy in politics. Political satire,
unlike protests, only wants to make a mockery of politics. Political satire has been around for
ages, in the United States it has been around since the colonial days where the founding fathers
used it to spread propaganda against the British. It is still very prominent in today s society,
especially with the inclusion of social media to the platforms of entertainment and information.
Political satire outlets have risen in popularity considerably in recent years. In fact, Jon Stewart s
The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert s The Colbert Report were the two most watched late night
talk shows among 18 to 49 year olds in the first quarter of 2013. The Onion , a

  • 3. Network Security Practices Essay Today s corporate infrastructure is not the same as it was 10 years ago. In the past you were able to control the amount of attacks on a network because of the reasonable number, which is not the case today. At any given time an organizations network will be attacked or try to be attacked several hundred times in one day. For larger more well known organizations this number could grow significantly. To ensure your organization is not one of the ones on the 10 oclock news you have to ensure you have proper securitypractices in place to secure your network. By doing so you now allow the employees to have a better understanding of what data they can manipulate and data that has to stay the same. 2. Remote Access Policies users are always going to want to access the office network from a remote site. We have to ensure that there are policies in place that allow them to do so but in a safe manner. If they are going to remotely access the network it has to be done in accordance with the security policies of the organization and not on their terms. This should include using a laptop or remote connection software that has been pre approved by the organizations security team, keeping IP s in a safe place, making sure that if they are accessing the network from a laptop to ensure that hard drive is encrypted. This will prevent anyone from gaining access the sensitive information if it is ever lost or stolen. (HORWITZ ACL). The sports participation from females is great, but females playing sports means more knee injuries. It is the injury rate that comes with females playing hard core sports. Females who are involved in sports that include twisting and turning ( almost all), are more likely to be injury prone than males playing the same sport (Lippincott). Females are more injury prone as they mature. On a female, the knee is one of the most vulnerable part of the body for many reasons. Males and females develop with different size bones and ligaments, the older they get. As males get older the bones and ligaments get bigger. This helps them because they tend to play more of the physical and aggressive sports, where they are strongest. After puberty in the male body, more strength develops automatically from the hormone testosterone as well. When females are done going through puberty, their overall size of their ACL is smaller and weaker. Research shows that, Not only does the intercondylar notch (the groove in the femur through which the ACL travels) tend to be smaller in women, but so is the ACL itself, leading it more prone to injury (HORWITZ ACL). One disadvantage that females have, is the size of the ACL. According to Orthopedic Surgeon Steve Horwitz there is another disadvantage, It is well established that female athletes typically have poor hamstring strength,[3] which is considered one possible risk factor for ACL ruptures.[4] If the hamstring cannot balance the power of the quadriceps (front thigh muscle), the imbalance can cause significant stress to the ACL, leading to injury (HORWITZ ACL). An unbalanced set of lower leg muscles has a big effect on every movement in sports and it is important to keep that strength up at a higher level. Most female athletes have one stronger leg, which makes it a constant fight to get the knees to a balanced strength and a risk to a knee injury (ModernMedicineACL). • 7. Culture And The Asian Culture Culture plays an important role in many of the addictions that people succumb to. As clinicians, it is important for us to be aware of the implication that culture has on diagnosing addictions and treating the addiction. In order to treat clients more effectively we should have some knowledge about specific cultures and their relation to some compulsive behaviors or addictions. For this assignment, I decided to explore the Asian culture in relation to gambling. Many studies have shown that the Asian culture account for a significant population seen in casinos and the gambling world. In this paper I will explore how cultural factors might impact specific behaviors. In addition, I will examine how a culture may impact the treatment process in order to gain more information for future work with this population. Gambling his been around for hundreds of years. Gambling is the wagering of money or something of material value on an event with uncertain outcome with the primary intent on winning additional money or material goods. This can be seen in horse racing, card games, and many other avenues where betting is involved. Gambling addiction is similar to a substance addiction in many ways. Problematic gambling can involve repeated unsuccessful efforts to control, cut back or stop gambling, feelings of restlessness, irritability when attempting to stop or cut down gambling habits, and the diminished ability to resist the impulse to gamble despite serious consequences ... New Living Translation Vs English Translation Essay I chose to look at the New King James, New International, New Living Translation and Revised Standard Version, in addition to my original translation choice of English Standard Version. I choose the New King James, New Living Translation, and English Standard Version to compare because I feel they provide the most distinct differences between translations. I found that the textual variations did not change the textual meaning but the emphasis of some parts of the text. We can find in verse one, the NKJ version mentions they, and certain other women with them Both the ESV and NLT put all of the women in the same category under the pronoun they . This variation of text adds more emphasis on women in the resurrection account. In verse four,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The EVS version has a period. The exclamation point at the end of this phrase not only emphasizes this miracle, but also shows expression of joy, awe, and excitement about the news of Jesus being the Messiah that came to save. The next text variation that I found was in verse seven. This is a small variation of wording. In the NLT, it uses the word betrayed while the NKJ and ESV are using the word delivered when describing Jesus arrest and crucifixion. The use of betrayed makes the verse seem more personal because betrayed in the English language has a negative and hurtful connotation. When someone is betrayed, they are abandoned, hurt, and in pain. The usage of this word, I feel, adds emphasis on Jesus feelings and makes it more personal for the readers who have been betrayed in the past. Next, I found that in verse nine the use and placement of rushed adds emphasis that when the women remembered what Jesus had said, they had to tell the disciples, and others, about the fantastic news they had just heard. Returning in the ESV and NKJ versions is adequate too, but one can read it as they went back without haste or at a normal speed to tell what they had witnessed. The term rushed makes the women at the tomb seem more excited and awe struck that they had to share with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Puritans wrote about abandoning the corruption of Europe to find innocence in a new world. The Romantics saw innocence and power in nature and often wrote of escaping from civilization to return to nature. After the Civil War, however, the innocenceof the nation is challenged. The example of this that comes most readily to mind is the complete turn around of Jean Valjean in Victor Hugo s Les Miserables. It is remembering that the world really can be a place filled with beauty and wonder, virtue and meaning, and then acting so as to belong to that world, rather than the world of the wasteland. What does it mean to belong to the world of the wasteland? Son of man, You cannot say, or guess, for you know only A heap of broken images, where the sun beats And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief, And the dry stone no sound of water. (Eliot, 1448) Son of man refers to Ezekiel II, I where God directs Ezekiel to stand. The inhabitants of the wasteland are fallen and unenlightened, their personalities and world fragmented. There is no love in the wasteland, only alienation. The couple in Hills Like White Elephants find themselves unable to communicate, as is shown by their meaningless and shallow conversations and their inability to understand one another when they do say anything meaningful. This lack of communication is also displayed in the following lines of The Wasteland: My nerves are bad to night. Yes, bad. Stay with me. Speak to me. Why do you never speak. Speak. The Fault in Our Tsars The evolution of Russian absolutism brought a new era of social and cultural expectations that drastically altered the life and society of Russia until the twentieth century. The impact the evolution of absolutism had on Russian life cannot be understated nor can it be overlooked. Therefore, it is important for us to look at three key defining eras during which absolutism was strongest in Russia: the Mongols, Ivan IV, and Peter the Great. These three rulers helped to shape much of what would be defined as the Russian absolutism that would shape the future of the Russian Empire. While it would be easy to begin our exploration of Russian absolutism with the reign of Ivan the Terrible, the true beginnings of absolutist rule in Russia came with the arrival of the Mongols. Known to the Russian people as Tatars, the Mongols ruled over Russia with an iron fist and exposed them to Eastern religion. As a result of this, Russia remained secluded from the advancing world of the west and it prohibited growth that the rest of Europe was experiencing. The Mongols were conquerors and destroyed everything that caused them grief or they did not understand. While the Mongols would allow for much of the cultural distinctions to remain in their conquered territories they would demand tribute or the population would have to face the consequences. This deaf student must work extra hard to keep up and be able to read the lips of his/her teachers and fellow peers, and learn to communicate. In this community, the African American men and women tried to preserve some of the customs native to their respective countries. Many African American women established intimate relationships with African American men. When this took place, a traditional marriage ceremony often took place. Among African women living in the colonies, there existed different living and even life conditions. Some African American women were lucky enough to be free. This minority class of African American women gained their freedom by working their way out of slavery, being rewarded with freedom at their owner s request, or through fleeing from their master. • 33. Cause And Effect Of Stress Stress plays a prominent role in one s daily life. Thus, it is important to identify stress and learn to reduce and cope with stress in order to prevent stress related illnesses that may occur. Stress has a major influence upon one s health, thinking, behavior, and mood. Stress is commonly mistaken for generally evoking negative associations; however, it is actually part of the human experience that places pressure on people so that they may be able to perform at a higher level achievement. Nonetheless, when stress becomes too much to handle, or becomes chronic, it can affect an individual physically, mentally, behaviorally, and emotionally. What is stress? According to Debra L. Nelson and James C. Quick, in Organizational Behavior, Stress, or the stress response, can be described as the unconscious preparation to fight or flee that a person experiences when faced with any demand (103). When an individual is stressed, the body thinks it is under attack, releasing chemical messengers and hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol to prepare the body for physical action. Through the release of hormones, it enables a person to quickly respond to fight or flight. For example, a group of explorers are in the Amazon rainforest, and they come across a jaguar; this sends a signal to the individuals that a threat has approached, and sends information to their body giving them the fight or flight ability. Furthermore, stress can be classified into two different branches: internal and external. Internal is the ability to send messages and waves throughout our body, resulting in the release of chemicals and hormones. On the other hand, external is the ability to sweat, blush, itch, or anything that physically affects a person. Both of these factors control one s entire bodily function of stress. Stress can be both positive and negative, and can impact how one interact and function on a daily basis. Stress is commonly mistaken for generally evoking negative associations, however a little stress can actually be good for a person. Accordingly, when the body experiences a stressor, its fight or flight response kicks in as a way to protect oneself by staying focused, alert, and allowing one the extra energy he or she need ... After that, the ethical needs, problems and limitations of work organizations will have to be examined so that the different theories can be evaluated in this context. However, as a pragmatic and functional system of moral analysis, Utilitarianism has a number of difficulties. One of the major problems is the fact that it is extremely difficult to quantify happiness, and if it is not possible to decide which of several available actions produces the most happiness, it follows that it is not possible to decide which action is the right one. Also a particular action generating a high degree of happiness may have unforeseen consequences that have the opposite effect. • 42. The Effects Of Continuous And Partial Reinforcement On... Effects of Continuous vs Partial Reinforcement on Reinstatement induced Relapse in Operant Behaviour Mona Nourozi PSYCH203 University of Auckland Effects of continuous vs partial reinforcement on reinstatement induced relapse in operant behaviour Research on behavioural momentum theory has provided a theoretical framework for understanding the effects of extinction and amount of relapse in relation to different conditional experiments (Nevin Shahan, 2011). WHAT IS BEHAVIOURAL MOMENTUM THEORY This research is not only inherently interesting in pure theory, but also in clinical practise and intervention and for that reason is important. Upon further investigation of these concepts and how they interact with one another, we can discover new connections and ultimately attempt to control or affect the results of such interactions. Previous experiments have demonstrated that the resistance of operant behaviour depends on the rate of reinforcement that is associated with that specific stimulus (Podlesnik Shahan, 2009). A general finding that Nevin (as cited in Podlesnik Shahan, 2009) explores in this area is that the higher the rate of reinforcement, the more resistant the response is to change. The more resistant a response is, the more difficult it is to extinguish (Thrailkil Shahan, 2012). However, results from other experiments are in conflict with what we would expect from this theory. The partial reinforcement extinction effect has shown that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Why The Agent Is Fully Self Owning Essay Libertarians hold that every agent is fully self owning. Every agent morally owns their own body, just as they can morally own an inanimate object. A set of five rules comes with full ownership of an entity. First, they control the right to use of their entity, both a liberty right to use it and a claim right that others cannot use it (Vallentyne). Second, the agent has the right to compensation if someone else uses the entity without the agent s explicit permission. Third, the agent has the right to call upon enforcement rights. Fourth, the right to transfer these rights to another by sale, rent, loan, or gift. Finally, the agent is immune to non consensual loss of these rights. At the core of the rules of full ownership is the right to control the use of one s body. This is necessary when considering certain actions that cannot be done without one s consent, but can be with their consent. Because of an individual s inherent right to sexual autonomy, they have the right to act how they want with their body. Libertarians hold the view that prostitution is an activity between two consenting adults, which should not be touched by the government or even an organized religion because they consider it to be a victimless crime . They also they believe that it should not be subject to regulation, even if the act does not involve love or even if it involves the exchange of money. Prostitution is done with consent, which signifies that it is a expressions of oneself and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To live for some people is a little harder than others but this no matter, as the human can disappear as the weed to dinosaur and the dinosaur to the star. Therefore, the evolution of the humans a mere is a little part of the history, as there may be many more. The writer state that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Political satire, unlike protests, only wants to make a mockery of politics.
