Cherokee Indians And Native American Tribes
Cherokee Indians have been around for many years, but when the topic of Native Americans is
discussed it is only about the struggles and hardships they went through but never their actual culture
of how and where they originated or how they came to be. There are many interesting things to learn
about Cherokee Indians such as their heritage, religion, language, and their traditional songs, dances,
and food. The Cherokee people have been identified as one of the most socially and culturally
advanced of all other Native American tribes. Artifacts have been found that Indicate that they lived a
little over 11,000 years ago but it is unknown of how long the Cherokee have actually existed.

Their religion is based on thanking mother earth for providing all that is needed to stay alive. The
Cherokee language has 3 principal dialects. A Tali or also called the upper principle is spoken
throughout Northern Georgia, Eastern Tennessee, and western North Carolina and is exclusively used
in the native literature of the tribe. Kituwah or also known as the middle principle is spoken chiefly on
the waters of the Tuckasegee River in western North Carolina and is now prevailing dialect on the east
Cherokee Reservation. Elati also known as the lower principle and is spoken on the heads of the
savannah river, in South Carolina and Georgia and was the only dialect to have the R sound, which is
now extinct. Many of the Cherokee s 12,000 tribe members still use this language today. The Foods in
the Cherokee Nation all had a purpose. Corn, beans, and squash were also known as The 3 Sisters that
grew in their fields. Corn was made into flat breads, beans and squash were used for soups and stews.
There are many traditional cherokee dishes, which include Bean Bread, Fried Hominy, Grape
Dumplings, Cherokee bread pudding, and many others(Recipes). Most of the cooking vessels were
made of clay, and food was sometimes put under hot coals for cooking. Most foods

An Evaluation Of A Nursing Nurse At A Surgical Ward
DESCRIPTION
During the first week of our new nurses in a surgical ward, I was supervising one of the
supernumerary nurses. We were looking after for a thirty nine year old woman, Ms LC, who had
undergone a laparoscopy peritonectomy. We had to start her on a negative pressure wound therapy
dressing or NPWT. The wound clinical nurse consultant and the doctors during their ward round
suggested it, since this would allow the fast healing of her wound.
I showed the supernumerary nurse the proper way of preparing for an NPWT using a non touch sterile
technique, and slowly cleaned the surrounding skin prior to the application of the pressure dressing.
Since, it was the first time of the mentee to perform a pressure dressing. I have provided my mentee
the principles of wound management, so that it will reinforce the knowledge of the supervised nurse
and skills, on the management of an NPWT wound. I also provided the mentee the protocols and
wound management chart to take note of the type of solutions to be used in managing a surgical
wound.
FEELINGS
During the procedure it gave me an opportunity to share my knowledge about the proper management
of a surgical wound. I felt relieved knowing that I was able to develop the skills of my mentee in the
aspect of wound care and knowing that the patient was also involved in the process of the care.
According to Lewin (1939) that the type of leadership style I am practicing was more on democratic

Gorillas In Zoos
There has been a long history of debate about whether or not gorillas should be held captive. It is an
ongoing controversy where some people believe they should not be captivated in a zoo because it is
extremely important to their well being and therefore live shorter lives. However, others believe that
they are safer in captivity because they are away from all dangers including predators. Some would
see a zoo as the ideal place for gorillas. They believe it is not only safe for the gorillas, it is also
informational for humans.
There are many reasons why gorillas are kept in zoos. They are objects of continuous research because

Some gorillas become highly aggressive after being in captivity, posing a threat to visitors and
workers alike. Animals in captivity can develop severe health problems, even with a high quality
treatment plan. Then there is the topic of ethical dilemmas. Gorillas are extremely intelligent apes with
characteristics similar to humans. There are many groups and organizations that are for protecting the
lives of apes, including gorillas. Those involved in these coalitions argue that these primates are
individuals who have highly developed social, emotional and cognitive abilities, and should have three
basic privileges: the right to life, the protection of their freedom and the prohibition to torture them.
Another argument that zoos can be beneficial for preserving and conserving the lives of gorillas is that
most gorillas get to reach adult age because they are kept in captivity. Living in their natural habitats,
they can be snatched and taken away as easy prey at any given moment. At least in captivity they are
cared for and provided with the basic necessities to survive. The facilities they are kept in are routinely
cleaned and maintained on a daily basis. Zoos provide an educational resource and can provide a
protected environment for these endangered

Flappers Essay
Flappers
War is often followed by change; World War I is no exception. World War I is often labeled the cause
for the rise of a feminine revolution the flapper . Before the term flapper began to describe the young
independently minded woman of the early Twenties (Mowry 173), the definition that is most
prominent today, it had a 300 year long history. The young woman of the 1920 s was new and
rebellious. In her appearance and demeanor, she broke the social constructs of her society.
When the war started, women had to take over the jobs of men and they learned to be independent.
These women exemplified the beginning of change. Coupled with enfranchisement and the increased
popularity of birth control, women experienced a new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The car, a new invention, was another tool in their rebellion; it was fast and could be reckless.
Flappers used cars for three purposes: to drive, to ride and for petting . Petting was the sexual activity
practiced in the back seats of cars. People also had petting parties, which mortified the older
generation.
The carefree attitude of the younger generation was attributed to the psychological trauma caused by
the unprecedented casualty level of the war. This generation had the theory that each day might be the
last, therefore lived it to the fullest. This mental change was accompanied by a change in the physical
styles of women. Fashion trends that were held in high regard by tradition were challenged to
demonstrate the new risqué way of life.
The Gibson glamour girl preceding the flapper wore long tresses, a high neck starched shirt, and a
long skirt over restrictive undergarments. The flapper did not adhere to these types of restrictions.
Pantaloons and corsets, the Gibson girl s undergarments, were not conducive to the dancing of the
flapper or the need for physical freedom. They were replaced by underwear called step ins (Rosenberg
2). The flapper fashion showed much more skin than the Gibson girl s outfit. She wore a loose fitting
dress that came just to the knees, with a dropped waistline and often showed the arms. The look worn
by the flapper was called the garconne meaning little boy. The hair was first cut very short into a bob

Uwm Application Research Paper
I decided to apply to the University of Wisconsin Madison for many reasons. One reason I applied to
UWM was to get closer to nature. In Tustin, California it is extremely difficult to get some real nature
, as the closest thing we have to forest are the palm trees that cover the Orange County skyline. The
closest source of nature here is the beach, and while it is beautiful, it s just not the same as having
deciduous trees changing colors as the seasons change. University of Wisconsin Madison is also on an
isthmus, which is a piece of geography I ve never seen before. The idea of being surrounded by nature
excites me very much and it would be different if I was able to experience all four seasons and not just
summer all the time. If I were to attend UWM I would take advantage of all the nature on and around
the campus because it would be something that I could not experience in my hometown. I also want to

city of Madison is host to a lot of music and food festivals which would give me an opportunity to
enjoy life off of campus during the weekends. Additionally, Madison is an extremely green city, which
is something every nature lover enjoys hearing. In the end University of Wisconsin Madison seems
like the right college for me for many reasons. The location seems perfect and the academics feel like
they would lead me towards getting a degree in a field I would enjoy pursuing. The Wisconsin

The Framework And Statutory Frameworks
The workforce has developed rapidly over the years in relation to policy and statutory frameworks,
with an emphasis upon the national curriculum in relation to literacy. The frameworks is influenced by
political aspects by theoretical and political aspects. This has been reflected within practice as policy
brings change and implications for practitioners and managers. Research has gone a long way to
implement the revised national curriculum which was due to the concerns raised due to the fact as a
country we are falling behind on the national league tables as we are in position 23 (DfEE, 2013),
which is quite disappointing as English is our first language within Britain, and we have made no
improvements within the last three years (DfEE, 2013). The Greeks did not just invent an alphabet;
they invented literacy and literature basis of modern thought (Blake, 2002. et al). Therefore, schooling
became longer because after an extended period of learning to read and write, children had become
exposed to the literary of culture. Pupils are now learning about the world through reading in
classrooms (King, 2000). Our view of literacy needs to be critically examined rather than accepted
unquestioningly. As Tobin et al, (1989) so fascinatingly demonstrates, our values affect our curriculum
and our judgements of children (Marsh et al, 2008, p.24). A need to bring an internal change is
necessary for people to live well in an environmentally responsible society which builds a

was a text message. As soon as I receive the text messages I should go directly to a Certified Court

more weight than an angry divorce litigant. The Court Reporter can testify that if the person had held
the phone and had scrolled through all of the texts and transcribed them exactly as found on the phone.
A person cannot obtain the text messages off from his or her phone without a subpoena. Text messages
are kept in a system on average of 72 hours. Also, I need the date and time of the messages and the

The Great Depression In The United States During The 1920 s
during the 1920 s to a point that most industries were making so much of everything that there was a
limit to that amount that could be sold.
This was also compounded with a sense of isolationism that most Americans had during this time that
led to protective tariffs that were enacted. Goods coming into the U.S. from around the world were so
expensive that most Americans would not/could not buy them. This in turn hurt the other economies
and limited the amount of American goods that they could purchase. Thus, more overproduction.
Speculation by not only individuals but banks also led to the Depression. Individuals did not buy
stocks to improve or invest in a company but to delve into the market just long enough to make a
profit. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In itself this was a terrible event, but from which recovery was possible. The problem was there were
too many other variables that were working against the US at the same time (the ones I listed above).
When all of these events happened the US tried to call in loans from around the world but it was too
late. The economic crisis had become one that was no longer bound to the confines of the US.
The way the Great Depression ended is not as easy to pinpoint. The New Deal established by Franklin
Roosevelt was instrumental in returning a sense of security to the citizens of the US. Bank Holidays
gave the American people time to cool off and calm themselves about the turbulent banking crisis.
This helped to stop bank runs which had shut down many banks.
Implementation of the many programs of the New Deal also helped the economy. The FDIC
(Insurance on bank deposits), the CCC (Jobs for young unemployed men to work on national parks),
the SSA (social security for disabled and elderly), TVA (provided jobs, water and electricity to
underprivileged Southern areas) and several other programs gave hope to the American people. There
was still much that needed to be done and Roosevelt had many

Chemical Engineering Personal Statement
Chemical engineers are often defined as people who refine oil but this have change. Chemical
engineering ranges from pharmaceutical to petrochemical industry, which is the main reason I choose
it as it leaves me with wide option of careers once I graduate. Chemical engineer always have these
question in mind how do we make it more efficient, durable and environmentally friendly? and living
in developing country where our air is polluted, children die from malnutrition and fishes die from
factory waste, sparked my interest in chemical engineering to improve the situation in my hometown.
Chemical engineering requires individual to be strong in both mathematics and chemistry. It also
requires student to be able to think out of the box and think of alternative solution. My ability and
deep interest in the subject can be seen from the various competition I took part in. In 2014, I took part
in Science UNSW where I attained distinction (top 8% nationwide) and Singapore and ASEAN
Mathematical Olympiad where I awarded silver; gold the following year. I also took part in Asia
International Mathematical Olympiad in 2014 where I was awarded bronze. Just recently, I manage to
attain bronze in C3L6. In these competitions, I learn about problem solving, critical thinking and
tackling problem that I never see before. My mathematical and chemical abilities will serve as a firm
foundation for my development as chemical engineer. Math allows engineers to break down large

Friendship By William Shakespeare s The Merchant Of Venice
Friendship is an idea which spans all cultures, but is expressed differently across cultural boundaries.
In William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice, the idea of friendship is critical, not only to the
plot, but also for character development. A friend is, A person with whom one has developed a close
and informal relationship of mutual trust and intimacy; (more generally) a close acquaintance. Often
with adjective indicating the closeness of the relationship, asbest, good, close, etc. (Oxford )
Friendship is the display of trust and intimacy as well as caring for one another. Antonio and Bassanio
are the best of friends. Although both Antonio and Bassanio s characters possess different motivations
for their actions, it is their strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it can be seen that Bassanio does feel guilt over his actions. To you, Antonio, I owe the
most, in money and in love (I, I, 177 178). Bassanio is expressing his remorse over having lived a
lifestyle far beyond that which with his wealth permits, but is grateful for the support that Antonio has
provided him. Although Bassanio may use Antonio for his coffers, he also owes Antonio in love. This
in turn displays that camaraderie is important to Bassanio and although he may be careless with his
money, he is a loyal and caring individual. However, it is clear that at the beginning of the play,
Antonio is far more invested in Bassanio than Bassanio is Antonio. At the beginning of the play it
appears that although they may be genuine friends, Bassanio may be using Antonio for his generosity
rather than brotherhood. Their friendships and characters are further expanded upon when Antonio
goes to meet Shylock and settle the terms of Bassanio s loan.
Act I, Scene 3 is arguably the most important scene in The Merchant of Venice. As it not only sets up
the development of the plot but also furthers the development of Antonio and Bassanio s friendship. In
this scene, Antonio and Bassanio meet with Shylock to discuss terms of a loan that Bassanio may use
to attempt to pursue Portia. Instead of having to pay usury, Shylock opts to take a pound of Antonio s
flesh if the debt is paid late. Upon hearing this, Antonio is confident that he

Stress And Its Effect On Our Lives
Sinister Stress
Everyone has stress, but not everyone realizes the impact it has on their lives. Most people don t
realize or understand the amount of stress they are under. What used to be considered extreme levels
of stress has become normal in today s society. Most people, adults especially, don t realize that teens
largely experience these high levels of stress. Before talking about the stress that teens experience,
though, it is best to understand what stress is and why one has it. Stress is a natural response and
reaction the body experiences to things that occur in life, both to and around a person. Humans have

It is a constant pressure that sits on a teen s shoulders. Adults are constantly pushing students to work
harder, get better grades, get to class on time, and have all their work finished and done correctly
(Gregson par. 3). What s so hard about that? one might think. Well, what most people don t realize it
that it is harder than it sounds. Many teens are involved in extracurricular activities, like clubs, sports,
and jobs as well. There is only so much in a day and so many things that they have to do within that
limited amount of time. Teens are at school most of the day, then many of them either have to go to
some sort of practice, meeting, job, or do chores at home. Usually by the time they are free to do their
homework it is late. Not to mention the sizable amounts of homework that is dolled out to them.
Sometimes they are given large amounts of work in just one class, along with the work they may
receive in the many other classes they are enrolled in. Fear is also another stressor teens experience
much of. Teens have the constant fear of not being enough, not doing enough, and most of all failure
in life (Lee 4 5). Fear somewhat relates to the stress teens experience because of school fear of a bad
grade, fear of not getting their homework done on time, fear of being late to class, or even fear of not
being able to understand what is being taught. While school and fear are obvious sources of stress

Ethos Logos
THESIS: In Jonathan Edwards Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God vivid imagery is utilized
through ethos, logos, and pathos in an attemt to sway the acts of sinners to be morally correct.
Jonathan Edward, an American theolagian and central figure in the awakening during the 1800 s, was
mostly known for leadning the great awakning and his strong belief in hell: a very common topic
during his time. In his sermon sinners in the hands of an angry god, preached on July 8, 1741 in
Enfield, Connecticut. Edward emphasizes gods power and how easy it is for god to drop you in hell,
so therfore you should do everyhting you can to get on his good side.
Sinners in the hands of an angry god is a sermon written by Jonathan Edwards, an American
theolagian. The sermon was preached during the periode of great awakening when it was a time of
religiouse revival. The Great Awakening was essentially a spiritual awakening of different religious
groups in thethirteen colonies of America in the 18th century. While before the people were more
static and somberin their approach to religion, when the Awakening began they started to be more

the use of logos in edwards preach is important because facts are needed in order to make a valid

The Effects Of Father Involvement
Fathers should spend time with their children because it can help them perform better in school, it can
help with their development, and help them flourish in life. The dad effect starts as early as birth. A
review of studies by Father Involvement Research Alliance shows that babies with more involved are
more likely to be emotionally secure, confident in new situations, and eager to explore their
surroundings. According to Sarah Allen, PhD and Kerry Daly, PhD in May 2007 the main idea about

Ellis, Yasmine S. Khan, Victor W. Harris, Ricki McWilliams, and Diana Converse states that fathers
have a huge impact on children s well being. They start off stating that American families have
changed dramatically over the last century. Currently, about one half of all children in the United
States will live apart from their fathers some time during their childhood because their parents have
separated (Smith, n.d.). Of all children born in the year 2000 to married parents, 50 percent will
experience the divorce of their parents before they reach their 18th birthday (Fagan, 2000). In
addition, the proportion of births to unmarried women has increased greatly in recent decades, rising
from 5 percent in 1960 to 41 percent in 2011 (Child Trend Data Bank, 2013). Fathers are different
from mothers in how they play with their children, mothers more likely nurture their children in
contrast because fathers spend more time engaging in stimulating playful activities and promoting and
advising independence. When you have fathers that spend time with you at a young age will most
likely develop greater abilities to start school with higher levels of academic readiness according to
Allen and Daly in 2007 and throughout development, high levels of father involvement have also been
associated with greater child tendencies to be more patient and have increased aptitudes for handling

CROSSROADS
The relationship between human rights and environmental protection in international law is not
straightforward. It has seen various ups and downs and reached the present state of development.
Human rights have been a focus of international law for over sixty years now. A human rights
approach to environmental concerns was only introduced long after that. The United Nations Charter
of 1945 marked the beginning of modern international human rights law, whereas the Stockholm
Declaration of 1972 is generally seen as the starting point of a rights based approach to environmental
protection. This declaration formulated several principles, including that Man have the fundamental
right to freedom, equality and adequate conditions of life, in an environment of a quality that permits a
life of dignity and well being, and he bears a solemn responsibility to protect and improve the
environment for present and future generations. Human rights and environmental law have in common
that they are both seen as a challenge to, or limitation on, the traditional understanding of state
sovereignty as independence and autonomy. Despite their separate initial stages, it has become more

Emily Dickinson Dashes
Dickinson s main forms of syntactical variation in the poem revolve around her use of dashes and
enjambment. To elaborate, the second stanza of the poem, rife with rhyme, utilizes enjambment to
further emphasize the seemingly endless investigation presented in the poem. The first three lines of
the stanza, I turned my Being round and round / And paused at every pound / To ask the Owner s
name , are devoid of any punctuation until the dash at the end of the third line. This emphasizes the
feeling of disorientation noted in the previous paragraph, especially considering the rest of the poem is
littered with dashes which force Dickinson s readers to slow their reading with no notice whatsoever.
However, the use of dashes in I felt my life

The Basis Of Labeling Theory As A Whole Is Practically
The basis of Labeling Theory as a whole is practically exactly as it sounds, the labeling, or
stigmatizing, of a person or group of people throughout their life. This labeling is the result of how
that person, or group of people, identifies and behaves throughout their life. This idea of the Labeling
Theory comes from Becker, who claims that individuals will conform with what is said and assumed
about them. Becker s theory states the idea that those who are labeled throughout life as deviant will
become deviant and take on a known selfhood as deviant. This idea also claims that those labeled as
deviant will act more deviant than if they had not been labeled this way. The Labeling Theory uses
social characteristics such as class and race to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Logical consistency, also known as internally consistent, generates the basis that the theory is filled
with internally sound and consistent ideas throughout (Akers et. al.). These ideas must make sense in a
logical aspect that does not allow the general ideas to conflict with each other in a way that confuses
the ideas. Labeling theory follows the concept of logical consistency by sticking with labeling being
the reasoning behind why people act the way they do, deviant or not deviant. As stated previously, if
an individual is labeled as deviant they will then act deviant. There is no contrast to this idea
throughout the theory, which allows it to be logically consistent. Another known obstacle is that of
scope. Scope is known as the range of distribution that the theory covers. For example, if a theory
focuses specifically on juveniles for a specific crime, such as theft, then the theory would be
considered to have a very limited scope. Labeling theory would be considered to have a generally
wide scope because of the fact that it covers all ages, all races, and all genders. The theory also covers
a wide scope because it references all deviance. Theorists have stated that, agents of control, who
function on behalf of the powerful in society, impose the labels on the less powerful (Akers et. al,
2017). This points to the idea that it is not just one specific group of people, but simply those of higher

The Ethics And Legal Implications Of The Internal Revenue...
The complexity of the Internal Revenue Code has been the source of genuine concern, standup jokes,
and political theater for years, but its greatest effect on practitioners of tax is to create a myriad of
complicated gray areas and thorny questions that are not quickly resolved to a neat yes or no answer.
This ambiguity has resulted in a situation where the ethical and legal implications of tax practice are
serious considerations for any professional who is engaging in this line of work.
Since 1881, U.S.C. 31 has regulated who can represent other people to the Treasury Department,
which encompasses the IRS. This representation, called practice before the IRS, includes not just
representation in court, but also all forms of communication on behalf of the taxpayer, including
written documentation, phone calls, and interviews. From the beginning, the qualities required to
practice before the IRS were good character, good reputation, competence and qualifications ( Beyond
the Basics. ) Today, those practicing tax or intending to do so need to be aware of a long list of
standards and requirements in order to be compliant with both the IRS, as outlined in Circular 230,
and the standards of the profession as outlined by the AICPA in Statements of Standards for Tax
Services.
Circular 230 covers an extensive list of the requirements, laid out in multiple sections of the Internal
Revenue Code, of being in compliance as a tax preparer and representative before the IRS, from

Dental Pathology Of Surgical Pathology
At the age of 3 years, most little girls are playing with Barbie Dolls, tea party sets and an occasional

cancers with assorted Surgeons and my enthusiastic Mother. In fact, unlike most kids dreading to go to

was interested in the field of medicine. Namely Surgical Pathology.
I decided to delve deeper and start to ask my mentor (My unconventional, eccentric, and ever

It can be used on all tissues and it helps Pathologists identify the cytoplasmic and nuclear structure of
a cell. More specific stains seek to answer other questions specific to the patient s condition. For
example, an Iron stain may be required in a patient who underwent a liver biopsy looking for a disease
such as Hemochromatosis or other iron storage condition. Other types of special stains may be
necessary to examine the tissue for infection. An example would be in a lung biopsy where the patient
may have a fungus infection such as Aspergillous. A special stain of PAS/Light Green may be utilized
to bring out the fungus if present which may not be evident on routine H E stains. In the 21st century,
molecular markers are currently in vogue. Breast cancer requires a number of immunohistochemical
markers such as Estrogen and Progesterone. These special stains are looking for the antibody to
Estrogen or Progresterone in the patient s breast cancer tissue. If this is present, the Oncologist may
treat the patient with certain drugs like Tamoxifin. Herceptin may be used in patient s who have a
positive Her2neu antibody. This may be measured by standard immunohistochemistry as in Estrogen
or Progesterone measurements. The alternative is to use a molecular testing to quantify the receptors
of Her2neu receptors. The above simply illustrates in the most basic way a most complex topic
utilizing whole tissue samples. Many times large tissue samples

Border Security Policy Analysis
As the political landscape in the United States continues to include increasing levels of immigration
reform and border security rhetoric, an understanding of current capabilities and operations becomes a
vital component when forming an educated opinion. Army National Guard soldiers and aircraft

technology designed to assist law enforcement agencies in drug interdiction and undocumented
immigrant apprehension. Shortfalls in United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP)

Frankenstein Quotes About Victor s Downfall
Throughout the entire of the novel, Frankenstein, Mary Shelley shows that Frankenstein s demise is a
direct result of his own decisions. Mary displays this through three vivid actions that Victor did; the
creation of the creature, the death of his Brother and trial of Justine, and the ignorance Victor had that
led to the murder of Victor s wife, Elizabeth. Victor was a very smart student with an immense drive
to accomplish whatever he told himself he was going to accomplish. With Victor s early studying in
college, Victor describes his situation when studying Victor s cheeks had grown pale with study, and
my person had become emaciated with confinement. (Shelley 40), Showing Victor relied so heavily on

decisions were hindering his body and his ruining his limited time that Victor has on this Earth. The
hindering of someone s body and wasting of time is going to be a direct result of Victor s demise. The
actual creation of the monster also took a toll on Victor; Victor describes the monster by saying No
moral could support the horror of that countenance. A mummy again endued with animation could not
be so hideous as that wretch (Shelley 44) Another example of Victor s description of the creation of
the monster the night before I trembled exclusively; I could not endure to think of, and far less to
allude to, the occurrences of the preceding night (Shelley 46) Even the next day, after the monster was
created, Victor still was hurt by the creation of the monster which then led to Victor being very sick,
only to be nursed back to health by Clerval. All of this could have been avoided by Victor if he would
have not of created the monster. But because Victor decided to create the monster, the consequences of
these actions were the ultimate demise of Victor with the person responsible for the demise being

The Violence Of The Watts Riot
The 1960s was a time for change. It promoted on going expectations of equality for all races. This
proved to be difficult for minorities. In August of 1965, civil unrest broke out, which lead to six day
revolt called the Watts Riot. Nearly thirty years later another riot broke out which caused even greater
damage and left an even greater impact in our history, the Rodney King Riots. Both of these events
share similar qualities and devastating damages, however, their meanings are much harder to decipher
from one another. These impactful events in our society demonstrate how much there needs to change
in our society, especially when dealing with minorities. The Watts riots began in the summer of 1965,
in a city in Los Angeles called Watts. It all began with the arrest of a young African American by a
white California Highway Patrol officer. Now, it was not because he was arrested for already doing
something illegal, it was for the way the police officer treated the individual. According to Lacine
Holland, an eyewitness to the arrest, the officer took him and threw him in the car like a bag of
laundry and kicked his feet in and slammed the door. (Flournoy) This caused lots of unrest among the
fellow residents of Watts. This was just the beginning of years of pent up oppression for the
minorities, which participated in the event. Similarly, in 1992, the Rodney King riots also arose due to
the acquittal of four Los Angeles Police Department officers for their brutal beating

Diversity In Advertising

increasingly congested as more and more products have entered into the frenzied competition after the

Now, in 2017, American values are changing and there is a movement of women, young and old,
standing up to societies standards of beauty, saying that there is no such thing as a perfect woman, and
that diversity is beautiful. Many companies have taken to that ideal by using campaigns where there
are more than just tall, skinny, white models, and also going without photoshopping their photos. This
is something that makes brands more relatable to everyday women, because finally there is diversity
in advertisements and campaigns. For many years people of color, mentally or physically disabled
people, and members of the LGBTQ community were severely underrepresented in the media.
Representation is very important when it comes to appealing to a large audience, when looking at
advertisements, everyone wants to see people that they can relate to. Clearly, Olay has not opted for
this rout in the advertisement. Perhaps if the models did not have flawless skin and were closer in age
to the women who would be buying this product, the readers would be more inclined to give it a try.
Instead, an older reader looks at the models and can t relate because the reader cannot see a reflection
of themselves in the models. In real life, women aren t perfect. Jib Fowles put advertising into fifteen
basic appeals, number six being the desire to achieve. Though he describes it as, the drive that
energizes people, causing them to strive in their lives and careers, it could also be looked at as trying
to achieve a certain appearance (Fowles 82). For a very long time that certain appearance was bring

against operating on the heart. A decade later, this work would see them saving a life at Johns

did this so that they could figure out ways to cure the blue baby syndrome. They did surgery on dog s

why they turn blue. To cure this defect, it was suggested that it might be possible to reconnect the

The Struggles Accompanying Homosexuality in Tony Kushner s Angels in America
Set in the late 1980s, a period of regression and tragedy for the homosexual community, Tony Kushner
s play, Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, explores the lives of four gay men
living in New York. Kushner s two part drama expounds some of the many difficulties encountered by
gays during this time period. While two of his characters, Joe Pitt and Roy Cohn, both struggle
significantly with their sexual orientation and identity, their troubles surface as a result of different
aspects of their lives. Joe Pitt, who, as it becomes clear, is a closeted homosexual, holds both political
and religious views that do not mesh well with his sexual orientation. Current Reaganite and lifelong
republican, Joe was raised on conservative, right wing values. As if that weren t enough, Joe is also a
Mormon and belongs to a religious community that forbids any sexual behavior between two people
of the same gender and deems such homosexual acts a sin punishable by a disciplinary council (
Homosexuality ). During his first homosexual encounter, Joe expresses his fears of punishment not
simply from his church community, but from God himself:
JOE: I... want... to touch you. Can I please just touch you... um, here? (He puts his hand on one side of
Louis s face. He holds it there.) I m going to Hell for doing this. (123)

by Michael Jordan. Footwear sales sky rocketed in 1984, when Michael Jordan signed a contract to

The pricing strategy for this brand is value based. The selling price is determined not by the cost of the

Seasons In A Midsummer Night s Dream Essay
In A Midsummer Night s Dream by William Shakespeare, the seasons are vital to the development of
several relationships. Seasons are first presented in the title. Each season offers a different attitude.
Summer is known for freedom and romance, where winter in contrast is shown with themes of
bitterness and death. The season of the play and the themes associated with it allow the characters in
the comedy to progress in their romantic relationships. The seasons heavily affect the relationships of
the inhabitants of the magical world. Fairy royalty Titania and Oberon, along with their attendants see

with the soul of love (2.1.177, 180, 183). The love potion put on the lovers causes confusion and

that the two were two seeming bodies but one heart as well as their physical insecurities (3.2.212).
The women are forcing their angers on to each other both because they are angry at each other and
because of the love potion confusion and the season switch. Thomas C. Foster describes hard wired

between Titania and Oberon was solved, causing their negative effects in the physical world to subside
and allow the seasons to stop their dissension (2.1.116). Additionally, the fairies

The actual record shows an entirely different outcome. The no kill movement started when Richard
Avanizo took over the San Francisco SPCA in April 1976. During this time, humane societies and
SPCA s followed the tenets being promoted by the Animal Humane Society in which they were
required to kill the bulk of animals in their care due to the large amount of animals, and limited
number of homes but later, Avanzino forced a reluctant animal control director to sign a memorandum
of understanding between the two agencies that guaranteed a home for every healthy dog and cat in
San Francisco (Redemption 37). This was known as the adoption pact which was a huge step in the no
kill movement with a result of zero healthy shelter animal deaths that year (Irreconcilable Differences
49). This success led to other shelters adopting this philosophy.
Today, the primary goals of no kill shelters are to be able to find animals

Essay on Federalist 10 Summary
Summary Analysis of Federalist #10 Summary:
Madison begins perhaps the most famous of the Federalist papers by stating that one of the strongest
arguments in favor of the Constitution is the fact that it establishes a government capable of
controlling the violence and damage caused by factions. Madison defines that factions are groups of
people who gather together to protect and promote their special economic interests and political
opinions. Although these factions are at odds with each other, they frequently work against the public
interests, and infringe upon the rights of others. Both supporters and opponents of the plan are
concerned with the political instability produced by rival factions. The state governments have ...

To Madison, there are only two ways to control a faction: one, to remove its causes and the second to
control its effects. The first is impossible. There are only two ways to remove the causes of a faction:
destroy liberty or give every citizen the same opinions, passions, and interests. Destroying liberty is a
cure worse then the disease itself, and the second is impracticable. The causes of factions are thus part
of the nature of man and we must deal with their effects and accept their existence. The government
created by the Constitution controls the damage caused by such factions. The framers established a
representative form of government, a government in which the many elect the few who govern. Pure
or direct democracies (countries in which all the citizens participate directly in making the laws)
cannot possibly control factious conflicts. This is
because the strongest and largest faction dominates, and there is no way to protect weak factions
against the actions of an obnoxious individual or a strong majority. Direct democracies cannot
effectively protect personal and property rights and have always been characterized by conflict. If the
new plan of government is adopted, Madison hopes that the men elected to office will be wise and
good men the best of America. Theoretically, those who govern should be the least likely to sacrifice
the public good to temporary condition, but the opposite might

The Poem Clocks and Lovers by W. H. Auden
The poem Clocks and Lovers by W. H. Auden s contrasts the idea of whether or not love will outlast
time. Initially, the poem portrays a lover affirming the belief that love will triumph over time. The
poem transitions and depicts the clocks argument that due to time, love will eventually fade away. The
narrator contrasts the two arguments with usage of imagery, personification, tone and diction. The
argument that love will prevail over time is contrasted by the belief that as time goes by, time can
never be stopped and love will not last. Overall, neither belief is represented as correct because the
narrator contrasts the two opposing arguments by displaying that two arguments are incompatible. In
regards to their following arguments, time is not as malicious or arduous to love but love is not
impervious to time. Beginning early in the poem and used heavily throughout, imagery and
personification are utilized to exemplify the lovers argument. The belief that love is never ending is
created through never ending connotations, I ll love you, dear, I ll love you Till China and Africa meet,
and the river jumps over the mountain and the salmon sing in the street. The lover uses images of the
impossible such as fish singing, the laws of physics breaking, and distant continents meeting. This
strengthens the original belief that love is eternal and superior to time itself. These tasks are nearly
impossible and the idea of love one day ending is equated with them.

The Smithsonian Museums
The purpose of museums is to serve the public in the fields of education and research. The pinnacle of
museum structure, for this country, is the Smithsonian, with its headquarters located in Washington
D.C. (Smithsonian). My future career goal is to get a curator position within one of the nineteen
museums that fall under the Smithsonian jurisdiction (Smithsonian). Though I will be happy working
in many other museums across this country I decided to choose the Smithsonian because it is the
Official National Museum for the United States. All other United Stated museums base their business
structure on the standard the Smithsonian sets. What is right and wrong in museums culture in the
United States can be molded from the Smithsonian. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The curator has a lot to deal with so there is a structure of positional power so that one person is not
completely overwhelmed. The structure of the museum field follows the positions form the top being
the main director, directors in specific fields then curators. After the curators, there is no longer a
hierarchy to follow but a branching of different disciplines, like: exhibition designer, conservator,
development, and accounting (Lancaster, A., Houdyshell, A. 2019). With all these different people
being involved, a curator would benefit from knowing the Relational Leadership Model. The ethical
and empowering parts of the RLM section are important to be able to draw different people together to
work as a cohesive team (Komives, S. R., Lucas, N., McMahon, T. R, 2013). Every position has its
own possibility for leadership. One of the most propionate leaders in the field of Museum curation is
Franz Boaz. He started changing the mindset from ethnographic anthropology to a more culturally
bases idea (this removed a former white biases based racism). For other leaders there is every one
down the line is able to put their own input in to the curation of a project. Dr. Francesca Marini
discussed how her interns are designing the layout and researching the information for new exhibits
with minimal oversee from her. She makes sure they stay on tract but besides that, the interns have
free range to develop their exhibit. Marini explains that this happens in all museums even up to the
Smithsonian level because there is always more to do then there are people to get it done. She says
that the world of museums would not function well without the help of interns and

Marketing and Red Bull
P1 describe how marketing techniques are used to market products in two organisations
In this piece of work I will be describing how marketing techniques are used to market products in
two organisations. I will be talking about the techniques, role and objectives of the two products that I
have chosen. The two products that I have chosen to talk about are the Samsung galaxy s3 and Red
bull. Marketing means the action that a business does to promote their products and services. Market
research involves the collection of data to obtain insight and knowledge into the needs and wants of
customers and the structure and dynamics of a market.
The Samsung galaxy s3 is the world s most popular smart phone model, holding 10.7% of the global

Samsung have different survival strategies. Survival strategies means when the sales of a product
decrease in a business, and the business is trying to keep them up. Most of Samsungs products have
been developed to be more high tech than their competitors. This gives them an advantage as they will
get more sales than anyone else in that industry. The Samsung Galaxy s3 had been developed from the
Samsung Galaxy s2 and has been created to be easier to use and more enjoyable for the customer.
Apple tried banning Samsung from releasing their Samsung galaxy s3 because Apple think Samsung
have used some of their software for their products. A business would need survival strategies if sales
for their products have gone down and they want to make as much money of the product before it goes
bust. Samsung reported an 82% jump in profits over the first quarter of last year, while revenue
climbed 22%.
Branding in a business is important as it shows the reputation of the business. The importance in the
buyer s behaviour can affect the businesses sales, as it can increase or decrease their sales. Consumers
are responsible factor for the sales of any products or services, so when a new product is being
released in the market, understanding consumers buying behaviour becomes very essential. The
business has to study and understand the

The War Of Iraq War Essay
Baghdad in 2006 was a place of bias, controversy, and terror. The capital of Iraq was shaking not only
by their new government that reflected dealmaking not meritocracy but, also with an internal religious
struggle that was peaking with seventy or more deaths a day. Death was far too easy in Iraq, the
United States was in the search for the for the best approach in a hostile environment where the
identity of the enemy is masked by the surrounding civilians. The pending question that comes from
the war in Iraq war, What is the right approach to for the U.S. military to take in Baghdad. When the
Bush Administration took a look at their current state they were in and they found three approaches
that were all very different. To get out, to hand over Iraq back to the people after stabilizing it, and the
surge were the options that the President and his advisors had to choose from. Three options were
brought up to the Bush Administration. The first approach was brought up and supported by the Iraq
Study Group as well as Bush s new Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates. It can be stated quite
simply, Get out of Iraq. This approach may not have been the most ideal but, in Baghdad 2006 was a
deadly time for all people involved since enemy attacks had risen a third higher than the year before.
Major controversy was also going down within the US military regarding the question of who the
enemies were. The unknown frightened many because it was a clear flashback to Vietnam, as well it

Patriarchy In The Color Purple And Fried Green Tomatoes
Feminist Viola Davis once said, When women support women, amazing things can happen. With the
overbearing presence of patriarchy in society today it is pertinent that women can depend on. Most
women need help finding a voice in the world today; furthermore, they can achieve it with the
assistance of a powerful role model. The possibilities are greatly augmented with the guidance of an
assertive mentor. Particularly, in The Color Purple and Fried Green Tomatoes, authors Alice Walker
and Fannie Flagg portray this concept through their female characters. In the novels The Color Purple
and Fried Green Tomatoes, authors Alice Walker and Fannie Flagg utilize archetypal characters to
exhibit how an empowered female mentor assists in the development ... Show more content on

The tales from Whistlestop influence Evelyn s perspective on not only her environment but herself as
well. Ninny s supportive friendship helped Evelyn develop a new faith in herself. Ninny continually
provides encouragement for Evelyn s development (Perkins qtd. in Novels for Students). The positive
reinforcement compels the Ninny s positive self esteem. The effects of Ninny s storytelling were
apparent in Evelyn s everyday life. She had created a false personality of Towanda to act as her
personal fearless mentor. This allowed her to begin to break out of the hollow shell she was trapped in
(Flagg). The creation of Towanda distinguished the conception of Evelyn s newfound confidence. It
enables her to institute her excursion to self improvement. Nevertheless, Evelyn would still experience
moments of doubt in herself. Evelyn would feel as if she were at the bottom of a well, screaming,
[with] no one to hear, she contemplated suicide. However, Ninny s stories start to pull her out of her
well of despair (Flagg 203). Gradually, Evelyn was developing her sense of self. She gained courage
to conquer her impediments through the inspiration of Idgie and others. Ninny s humorous stories of
Idgie s adventures help to alleviate Evelyn s suffering (Perkins qtd in Novels for Students). Evelyn is
able to model her life after Ninny s tales of her hometown; therefore, she uses comparisons to
overcome the daily problems she faces.
At the end of the novel, it is apparent that Celie and Evelyn have radically changed in order to become
autonomous; though, it wouldn t have been attainable without the help of their tenacious mentors. The
two empowered women enlighten Celie and Evelyn on how to truly live their lives to the fullest

Rambling Biography
Rambling Autobiography
On the evening of October 1999, I was born at a hospital in Boston during a Red Sox game. My dad
could look out the hospital window into Fenway park and watch the game. The success of Boston
sports influenced my life from the moment I was born, as it always brought my family together on
weekends. Prior to when I was born, the Patriots had never won a Superbowl. After, they won four and
every major league team in Boston won a championship. All of the Boston sports teams began
winning right after I was born, breaking long droughts in team history. As the Boston teams begun
their winning streak, I had been visiting my grandparents house in Maine. This was my favorite
tradition ever since I was first born. My grandfather would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

My personal favorite vacation was when I was six. I flew with my family to a friend s beachfront
estate in Florida. Countless hours were spent hours fishing and swimming on the beach every day,
even catching a Blacktip shark. The life changing trip made me exceptionally closer to my friend and
his family. I traveled to Italy when I was twelve, it was the first time I had left the United States. The
trip was an incredible experience for me, introducing me to an entirely new world of culture. Leaving
the United States was a substantial goal for me at that age, as I had never been to a place where people
didn t speak English. The trip was an eye opener for how different the world can be. My first flight
alone was when I was in February 2015, when I flew to Colorado to ski with my aunt and uncle.
Initially, I was nervous as I left my father at security and made my way to the gate. I soon realized
how simple it was to travel and thought of it as an adventure. I m sure my experience wouldn t have
been the same if the people sitting next to me weren t so friendly. Even though I have had some
transforming experiences in my life, I always look to see what enjoyment I can have next and what I
can to create

Star Spangled Banner Meaning
The Star Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key in 1814. The instrumental song was
inspired by the British Bombing during the war of 1812. Over the years the Star Spangled Banner has
become a common tradition in Modern America that is played before almost every public event.
Kneeling and locking arms during the national anthem is disrespectful because it shows a lack of
respect and gratefulness towards the United States flag, solders, and younger generations as a whole.
The American flag, red, white, and blue, is the basis of our country and represents all we stand for.
The red represents the blood shed in order to make our country the great free nation it is today. The
white signifies the purity and innocence that our nation

  • 3. An Evaluation Of A Nursing Nurse At A Surgical Ward DESCRIPTION During the first week of our new nurses in a surgical ward, I was supervising one of the supernumerary nurses. We were looking after for a thirty nine year old woman, Ms LC, who had undergone a laparoscopy peritonectomy. We had to start her on a negative pressure wound therapy dressing or NPWT. The wound clinical nurse consultant and the doctors during their ward round suggested it, since this would allow the fast healing of her wound. I showed the supernumerary nurse the proper way of preparing for an NPWT using a non touch sterile technique, and slowly cleaned the surrounding skin prior to the application of the pressure dressing. Since, it was the first time of the mentee to perform a pressure dressing. I have provided my mentee the principles of wound management, so that it will reinforce the knowledge of the supervised nurse and skills, on the management of an NPWT wound. I also provided the mentee the protocols and wound management chart to take note of the type of solutions to be used in managing a surgical wound. FEELINGS During the procedure it gave me an opportunity to share my knowledge about the proper management of a surgical wound. I felt relieved knowing that I was able to develop the skills of my mentee in the aspect of wound care and knowing that the patient was also involved in the process of the care. It is an ongoing controversy where some people believe they should not be captivated in a zoo because it is extremely important to their well being and therefore live shorter lives. However, others believe that they are safer in captivity because they are away from all dangers including predators. Some would see a zoo as the ideal place for gorillas. Some gorillas become highly aggressive after being in captivity, posing a threat to visitors and workers alike. Animals in captivity can develop severe health problems, even with a high quality treatment plan. Then there is the topic of ethical dilemmas. Gorillas are extremely intelligent apes with characteristics similar to humans. There are many groups and organizations that are for protecting the lives of apes, including gorillas. Those involved in these coalitions argue that these primates are individuals who have highly developed social, emotional and cognitive abilities, and should have three basic privileges: the right to life, the protection of their freedom and the prohibition to torture them. Another argument that zoos can be beneficial for preserving and conserving the lives of gorillas is that most gorillas get to reach adult age because they are kept in captivity. Living in their natural habitats, they can be snatched and taken away as easy prey at any given moment. At least in captivity they are cared for and provided with the basic necessities to survive. The facilities they are kept in are routinely cleaned and maintained on a daily basis. Zoos provide an educational resource and can provide a protected environment for these endangered ... • 6. Flappers Essay Flappers War is often followed by change; World War I is no exception. World War I is often labeled the cause for the rise of a feminine revolution the flapper . Before the term flapper began to describe the young independently minded woman of the early Twenties (Mowry 173), the definition that is most prominent today, it had a 300 year long history. The young woman of the 1920 s was new and rebellious. In her appearance and demeanor, she broke the social constructs of her society. When the war started, women had to take over the jobs of men and they learned to be independent. These women exemplified the beginning of change. The car, a new invention, was another tool in their rebellion; it was fast and could be reckless. Flappers used cars for three purposes: to drive, to ride and for petting . Petting was the sexual activity practiced in the back seats of cars. People also had petting parties, which mortified the older generation. The carefree attitude of the younger generation was attributed to the psychological trauma caused by the unprecedented casualty level of the war. This generation had the theory that each day might be the last, therefore lived it to the fullest. This mental change was accompanied by a change in the physical styles of women. Fashion trends that were held in high regard by tradition were challenged to demonstrate the new risqué way of life. The Gibson glamour girl preceding the flapper wore long tresses, a high neck starched shirt, and a long skirt over restrictive undergarments. The flapper did not adhere to these types of restrictions. Pantaloons and corsets, the Gibson girl s undergarments, were not conducive to the dancing of the flapper or the need for physical freedom. They were replaced by underwear called step ins (Rosenberg 2). The flapper fashion showed much more skin than the Gibson girl s outfit. She wore a loose fitting dress that came just to the knees, with a dropped waistline and often showed the arms. The look worn by the flapper was called the garconne meaning little boy. • 7. Uwm Application Research Paper I decided to apply to the University of Wisconsin Madison for many reasons. One reason I applied to UWM was to get closer to nature. In Tustin, California it is extremely difficult to get some real nature , as the closest thing we have to forest are the palm trees that cover the Orange County skyline. The closest source of nature here is the beach, and while it is beautiful, it s just not the same as having deciduous trees changing colors as the seasons change. University of Wisconsin Madison is also on an isthmus, which is a piece of geography I ve never seen before. The idea of being surrounded by nature excites me very much and it would be different if I was able to experience all four seasons and not just summer all the time. • 9. The Framework And Statutory Frameworks The workforce has developed rapidly over the years in relation to policy and statutory frameworks, with an emphasis upon the national curriculum in relation to literacy. The frameworks is influenced by political aspects by theoretical and political aspects. This has been reflected within practice as policy brings change and implications for practitioners and managers. Research has gone a long way to implement the revised national curriculum which was due to the concerns raised due to the fact as a country we are falling behind on the national league tables as we are in position 23 (DfEE, 2013), which is quite disappointing as English is our first language within Britain, and we have made no improvements within the last three years (DfEE, 2013). The Greeks did not just invent an alphabet; they invented literacy and literature basis of modern thought (Blake, 2002. et al). Therefore, schooling became longer because after an extended period of learning to read and write, children had become exposed to the literary of culture. Pupils are now learning about the world through reading in classrooms (King, 2000). Our view of literacy needs to be critically examined rather than accepted unquestioningly. As Tobin et al, (1989) so fascinatingly demonstrates, our values affect our curriculum and our judgements of children (Marsh et al, 2008, p.24). A need to bring an internal change is necessary for people to live well in an environmentally responsible society which builds a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Great Depression In The United States During The 1920 s during the 1920 s to a point that most industries were making so much of everything that there was a limit to that amount that could be sold. This was also compounded with a sense of isolationism that most Americans had during this time that led to protective tariffs that were enacted. Goods coming into the U.S. from around the world were so expensive that most Americans would not/could not buy them. This in turn hurt the other economies and limited the amount of American goods that they could purchase. Thus, more overproduction. The way the Great Depression ended is not as easy to pinpoint. The New Deal established by Franklin Roosevelt was instrumental in returning a sense of security to the citizens of the US. Bank Holidays gave the American people time to cool off and calm themselves about the turbulent banking crisis. This helped to stop bank runs which had shut down many banks. Implementation of the many programs of the New Deal also helped the economy. A friend is, A person with whom one has developed a close and informal relationship of mutual trust and intimacy; (more generally) a close acquaintance. Often with adjective indicating the closeness of the relationship, asbest, good, close, etc. (Oxford ) Friendship is the display of trust and intimacy as well as caring for one another. Bassanio is expressing his remorse over having lived a lifestyle far beyond that which with his wealth permits, but is grateful for the support that Antonio has provided him. Although Bassanio may use Antonio for his coffers, he also owes Antonio in love. This in turn displays that camaraderie is important to Bassanio and although he may be careless with his money, he is a loyal and caring individual. However, it is clear that at the beginning of the play, Antonio is far more invested in Bassanio than Bassanio is Antonio. At the beginning of the play it appears that although they may be genuine friends, Bassanio may be using Antonio for his generosity rather than brotherhood. Their friendships and characters are further expanded upon when Antonio goes to meet Shylock and settle the terms of Bassanio s loan. Act I, Scene 3 is arguably the most important scene in The Merchant of Venice. Of all children born in the year 2000 to married parents, 50 percent will experience the divorce of their parents before they reach their 18th birthday (Fagan, 2000). The United Nations Charter of 1945 marked the beginning of modern international human rights law, whereas the Stockholm Declaration of 1972 is generally seen as the starting point of a rights based approach to environmental protection. This declaration formulated several principles, including that Man have the fundamental right to freedom, equality and adequate conditions of life, in an environment of a quality that permits a life of dignity and well being, and he bears a solemn responsibility to protect and improve the environment for present and future generations. • 19. Emily Dickinson Dashes Dickinson s main forms of syntactical variation in the poem revolve around her use of dashes and enjambment. To elaborate, the second stanza of the poem, rife with rhyme, utilizes enjambment to further emphasize the seemingly endless investigation presented in the poem. The first three lines of the stanza, I turned my Being round and round / And paused at every pound / To ask the Owner s name , are devoid of any punctuation until the dash at the end of the third line. This emphasizes the feeling of disorientation noted in the previous paragraph, especially considering the rest of the poem is littered with dashes which force Dickinson s readers to slow their reading with no notice whatsoever. • 21. The Basis Of Labeling Theory As A Whole Is Practically The basis of Labeling Theory as a whole is practically exactly as it sounds, the labeling, or stigmatizing, of a person or group of people throughout their life. This labeling is the result of how that person, or group of people, identifies and behaves throughout their life. This idea of the Labeling Theory comes from Becker, who claims that individuals will conform with what is said and assumed about them. Becker s theory states the idea that those who are labeled throughout life as deviant will become deviant and take on a known selfhood as deviant. This idea also claims that those labeled as deviant will act more deviant than if they had not been labeled this way. The Labeling Theory uses social characteristics such as class and race to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Logical consistency, also known as internally consistent, generates the basis that the theory is filled with internally sound and consistent ideas throughout (Akers et. al.). These ideas must make sense in a logical aspect that does not allow the general ideas to conflict with each other in a way that confuses the ideas. Labeling theory follows the concept of logical consistency by sticking with labeling being the reasoning behind why people act the way they do, deviant or not deviant. As stated previously, if an individual is labeled as deviant they will then act deviant. There is no contrast to this idea throughout the theory, which allows it to be logically consistent. Another known obstacle is that of scope. Scope is known as the range of distribution that the theory covers. For example, if a theory focuses specifically on juveniles for a specific crime, such as theft, then the theory would be considered to have a very limited scope. Labeling theory would be considered to have a generally wide scope because of the fact that it covers all ages, all races, and all genders. The theory also covers a wide scope because it references all deviance. Theorists have stated that, agents of control, who function on behalf of the powerful in society, impose the labels on the less powerful (Akers et. al, 2017). This points to the idea that it is not just one specific group of people, but simply those of higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The complexity of the Internal Revenue Code has been the source of genuine concern, standup jokes, and political theater for years, but its greatest effect on practitioners of tax is to create a myriad of complicated gray areas and thorny questions that are not quickly resolved to a neat yes or no answer. This ambiguity has resulted in a situation where the ethical and legal implications of tax practice are serious considerations for any professional who is engaging in this line of work. Since 1881, U.S.C. 31 has regulated who can represent other people to the Treasury Department, which encompasses the IRS. This representation, called practice before the IRS, includes not just representation in court, but also all forms of communication on behalf of the taxpayer, including written documentation, phone calls, and interviews. From the beginning, the qualities required to practice before the IRS were good character, good reputation, competence and qualifications ( Beyond the Basics. ) Today, those practicing tax or intending to do so need to be aware of a long list of standards and requirements in order to be compliant with both the IRS, as outlined in Circular 230, and the standards of the profession as outlined by the AICPA in Statements of Standards for Tax Services. In August of 1965, civil unrest broke out, which lead to six day revolt called the Watts Riot. Nearly thirty years later another riot broke out which caused even greater damage and left an even greater impact in our history, the Rodney King Riots. Both of these events share similar qualities and devastating damages, however, their meanings are much harder to decipher from one another. These impactful events in our society demonstrate how much there needs to change in our society, especially when dealing with minorities. The Watts riots began in the summer of 1965, in a city in Los Angeles called Watts. It all began with the arrest of a young African American by a white California Highway Patrol officer. Now, it was not because he was arrested for already doing something illegal, it was for the way the police officer treated the individual. According to Lacine Holland, an eyewitness to the arrest, the officer took him and threw him in the car like a bag of laundry and kicked his feet in and slammed the door. Now, in 2017, American values are changing and there is a movement of women, young and old, standing up to societies standards of beauty, saying that there is no such thing as a perfect woman, and that diversity is beautiful. Many companies have taken to that ideal by using campaigns where there are more than just tall, skinny, white models, and also going without photoshopping their photos. This is something that makes brands more relatable to everyday women, because finally there is diversity in advertisements and campaigns. For many years people of color, mentally or physically disabled people, and members of the LGBTQ community were severely underrepresented in the media. Representation is very important when it comes to appealing to a large audience, when looking at advertisements, everyone wants to see people that they can relate to. Essay on Federalist 10 Summary Summary Analysis of Federalist #10 Summary: Madison begins perhaps the most famous of the Federalist papers by stating that one of the strongest arguments in favor of the Constitution is the fact that it establishes a government capable of controlling the violence and damage caused by factions. Madison defines that factions are groups of people who gather together to protect and promote their special economic interests and political opinions. Although these factions are at odds with each other, they frequently work against the public interests, and infringe upon the rights of others. Both supporters and opponents of the plan are concerned with the political instability produced by rival factions. The state governments have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To Madison, there are only two ways to control a faction: one, to remove its causes and the second to control its effects. The first is impossible. There are only two ways to remove the causes of a faction: destroy liberty or give every citizen the same opinions, passions, and interests. Destroying liberty is a cure worse then the disease itself, and the second is impracticable. The causes of factions are thus part of the nature of man and we must deal with their effects and accept their existence. The government created by the Constitution controls the damage caused by such factions. The framers established a representative form of government, a government in which the many elect the few who govern. Pure or direct democracies (countries in which all the citizens participate directly in making the laws) cannot possibly control factious conflicts. This is because the strongest and largest faction dominates, and there is no way to protect weak factions against the actions of an obnoxious individual or a strong majority. Direct democracies cannot effectively protect personal and property rights and have always been characterized by conflict. If the new plan of government is adopted, Madison hopes that the men elected to office will be wise and good men the best of America. • 41. The Poem Clocks and Lovers by W. H. Auden The poem Clocks and Lovers by W. H. Auden s contrasts the idea of whether or not love will outlast time. Initially, the poem portrays a lover affirming the belief that love will triumph over time. The poem transitions and depicts the clocks argument that due to time, love will eventually fade away. The narrator contrasts the two arguments with usage of imagery, personification, tone and diction. The argument that love will prevail over time is contrasted by the belief that as time goes by, time can never be stopped and love will not last. Overall, neither belief is represented as correct because the narrator contrasts the two opposing arguments by displaying that two arguments are incompatible. In regards to their following arguments, time is not as malicious or arduous to love but love is not impervious to time. Beginning early in the poem and used heavily throughout, imagery and personification are utilized to exemplify the lovers argument. The belief that love is never ending is created through never ending connotations, I ll love you, dear, I ll love you Till China and Africa meet, and the river jumps over the mountain and the salmon sing in the street. The lover uses images of the impossible such as fish singing, the laws of physics breaking, and distant continents meeting. This strengthens the original belief that love is eternal and superior to time itself. These tasks are nearly impossible and the idea of love one day ending is equated with them. ... The structure of the museum field follows the positions form the top being the main director, directors in specific fields then curators. After the curators, there is no longer a hierarchy to follow but a branching of different disciplines, like: exhibition designer, conservator, development, and accounting (Lancaster, A., Houdyshell, A. 2019). With all these different people being involved, a curator would benefit from knowing the Relational Leadership Model. The ethical and empowering parts of the RLM section are important to be able to draw different people together to work as a cohesive team (Komives, S. R., Lucas, N., McMahon, T. R, 2013). Every position has its own possibility for leadership. One of the most propionate leaders in the field of Museum curation is Franz Boaz. He started changing the mindset from ethnographic anthropology to a more culturally bases idea (this removed a former white biases based racism). For other leaders there is every one down the line is able to put their own input in to the curation of a project.
