Key Beliefs Of Secular Individualism
A secularist is a worldview that rejects religious faith and anything spiritually related. They don t
believe that life s ultimate questions are answered spiritually. They believe human existence is
explained in terms of the material not spiritual. Humanism, individualism, materialism and science
are all forms and key beliefs of secularism. All these key beliefs and forms of secularism show
what secularists believe in. A key belief of a secularist worldview regarding life after death is
secular humanismwhich is a different form of secularism. Humanism is a worldview about the
dignity of a human person and when others views try to take that dignity away from the human
person. Secular humanism is the belief that God takes away the dignity... Show more content on

Materialism is about objects and things and the desire to have them. It s means believing in the
reality of things rather than spiritual or ethical values and realises the reality of the external
world. All the knowledge, characteristics and behaviour of people and the answers to life
ultimate questions are due to material not spiritual. It is due to the experience, observation and
reasoning from the material. They believe that relying on spiritual values is considered to be
imaginary and unrealistic and isn t the truth. Secular materialism believes in the difference
between facts and values and only goes by the facts not the spiritual values. The belief in the
growing of success in an individual itself and having the wealth and to keep on growing with
success shows the materialism within secularism. Secular views in the growing of success within
an individual and each individual should keep on growing with their own success and having this
success is all you need. As the years has gone by there are more materialist attitudes as more and
more technology etc. has come out. Secularists believe in the facts, which is what science is all
about, facts. Secularists always need proof and need a scientific answer not a spiritual

Cultural Awareness Assessment
I have scored well on both assessments which consider me to be a particularly cultural sensitive
person. The cultural awareness assessment which I scored lower on was due to inexperience for
some of the questions that were asked. Question one, for example, asked, I listen to people from
other cultures when they tell me how my cultureaffects them is one experience I have yet to
encounter. I have always considered a person culture and briefs are fascinating in every fashion.
Growing up in a very diverse environment allowed me the opportunity to interact with people of

when providing culturally sensitive care to patients. For Jehovah s Witness choosing to have a
blood transfusion can be interpreted as giving up the chance to spend eternity in heaven or
paradise in exchange for a few more years on earth. Utilizing the 4 C s is a great start to

Counterclaim:I disagree with the other group that thinks it s baking soda, citric acid, epsom salt. I
disagree with them cause me and my partner tested both thoughts of each group. The first thing me
and my partner did was put it in a well tray and put water in it. Then we tested the temperature the
mystery mixture was 15.9, bakingsoda and citric acid was 16.2 degrees Fahrenheit, and baking
soda citric acid and epsom salt was 16.8. After we did this we put 10 drops of water in them and
left them overnight. When we came back the next morning we looked and they all turned to a
crystal looking thing on the bottom of the well tray they were all white but baking soda, citric

baking soda and citric acid it left barely any color just like the mystery mixture. That is why I

Island Bay Essay
Island bay and Owhiro bay, Wellington to collect data on the species of the rocky shore. This
area showed a clear pattern of the low tide, mid tide, high tide and splash zone. The area had a
variety of rocky shore species which were distributed in a zonation pattern. The two species I have
chosen to investigate are the Cellana radians and the Cellana denticulata. Cellana radians
commonly known as the Golden/radiate limpet has an outer shell that is smooth and very flat and
usually has a darker colour with dark coloured lines. The Cellana radians is found in the lower
intertidal zoneand the mid intertidal zone and none in the high tidezone at sirens rocks. The Cellana
radians are herbivores and feed on microalgae. The Cellana denticulata commonly known as the
denticulate limpet has an outer cap shaped shell that tends to have brown lines, this protects their
muscular foot, and the Cellana denticulata is an herbivore feeding on microalgae. It is found in
the upper lower intertidal zone, mid tide zone and very few in the high tide zone at sirens rock.
The Cellana denticulata and the Cellana radians showed that at sirens rocks the community pattern
of distribution was zonation. I will also be investigating the adaptations, tolerance levels for
abiotic factors for each species and the biotic factors such as their interspecific relationship of
competition for food and space on the rocky shore surface relating to their distribution along the
rocky shoreline at sirens rocks.

Big Hero 6 Research Paper
The film Big Hero 6, is an animated superhero comedy movie produced by Walt Disney
Animation Studios. The movie is about Hiro, a 14 year old boy who makes an incredible
invention called microbots to try to achieve his dream of enrolling into the San Fransokyo Institute
of Technology. The microbots are tiny robots that are linked together through anyway, through a
neuro transmitter. However, trouble strikes as someone steals them, but Hiro and his deceased
brother s medical assistant robot Betamax save the day along with the other four heroes who were
his brother s friends at the institute as they capture the villain. Overall, Big Hero 6was a very
intriguing and interesting movie as I noticed that it entered the technological field, as opposed to

I believed that Big Hero 6 stands out from all the other Disney movies as from my evaluation
through the movie made me notice that it s characters were mostly all centered around smart
human beings. However, due to this, Disney still used a well known cliche as they still have at
least one dumb character mostly for comedic purposes. Another well known cliche in Disney
movies that is seen in Big Hero 6, is how at least one person dies in the movie whether it be
during the movie, or in the introduction. Many Disney movies play out like this to create/develop
a conflict, but however it is later resolved with a happy ending where all the characters achieve a
particular goal or solve the conflict. But most movies aimed towards kids will always have a
happy ending, as they don t want to end on a sour note. In my analysis of Big Hero 6, I saw that
symbolism was conveyed throughout the movie. One notable example, came at the expense of
Tadashi, Hiro s brother, as he sacrifices his life to try to save Callaghan. The loss of Tadashi
consumes Hiro s will to learn/create or to even leave his house. But however, it makes him
depressed and wants him to take his anger/revenge out on Callaghan who he faked his

The Transcendentalist Movement Shaped America
The transcendentalist movement shaped America in the 1860s by inspiring citizens to be free
thinkers and hardworking individuals who would lead their lives to the fullest. The movement was
led by three revolutionary writers named Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and Walt
Whitman, three icons who challenged Americans to be individuals. Through his works Self
Reliance and Nature , Ralph Waldo Emersonpreached of nonconformity and creating a personal
destiny. Henry David Thoreauemphasized simplicity and making the most of life by seizing every

Todd create an impromptu poem for the class, Todd realizes that he has a creative side and is
actually a fabulous poet causing his confidence to grow sky high as the class claps for him and
him to be proud of himself. After this event, Todd becomes more and more outgoing, leading to
the solidification that Mr Keating effectively taught him Emerson s principles of being his own

principles of Emerson because he is finally being his own person and not conforming to the

nonconformity, and while he acts as though he doesn t appreciate it, he definitley emulates all of

Will Hunting Is A Year Old Orphan
Will Hunting is a 20 year old orphan. He lives in a small apartment in Southie and has been
working as a janitor at M.I.T under the supervision of the Parole Employment Program. As a
child, Will was constantly in and out of foster homes due to the physical abuse by three different
foster fathers since adolescence and has a history of assault, grand theft, resisting arrest,
mayhem, impersonating an officer. As an effect of this abuse Will blames himself for his
unhappy childhood and turns his anger issues into a form of self sabotage in both his
professional and emotional lives. Hence why he is unable to maintain either a steady job or
romantic relationship. He always wore slacks, and t shirt to all his therapy sessions, but his
clothes appear to be clean. Will Hunting had anger issues and was very oppositional to authority
figures. He also had abandonment issues. He was arrested for fighting and beating up another
young man who he went to kindergarten with. At his court appearance, he was mandated to
attend therapy twice a week and also required to report to Professor Lambeau once a week. He
saw five therapists with whom he failed to connect, prior to seeing Sean Maguire. He terminated
himself from some of his previous therapy sessions. Two of his therapists walked out on him.
Will accused his first therapist of being gay and played his second therapy by pretending to be
hypnotized. He was institutionalized for most of his childhood years. He spoke of his three close

Common Toad Behavior
Seismic events, if strong enough, are extremely random earthquakes felt in various parts of the
Earth. As astronomer Seth Shostak once said, We still have no way to eliminate earthquakes,
wildfires, hurricanes, floods or droughts (Seth Shostak). Humans cannot stop earthquakes but they
can predict them using modern technology, geo mapping, and by studying behaviours in animals. In
this article we examine how the Common toad (Bufo bufo) behaves before, during, and after an
earthquakeand how this can help humans in understanding the early signs of an earthquake.
Before observing the Common toads behaviour, we must explain what goes on during an
earthquake to fully understand the behavioural changes these toads undergo. Through common
knowledge, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is why an internal process that may help toads predict earthquakes can be linked to their
olfactory senses and their epidermis. Toads are amphibians making them sensitive to changes in
water chemistry, since they breed and live a majority of their lives in damp habitats. Grant and
colleagues further study the changes in water chemistry with respect to the effect on toads.
When an earthquake occurs it releases positive hole charge carriers, and are equivalent to *O
radicals. This makes them extremely reactive and highly oxidizing, letting them execute various
reactions once they reach the surface. One of the reactions is oxidizing H2O (water) into H2O2
(hydrogen peroxide). The oxidization of H2O coupled with the fact that toads live mainly in
damp areas gives sufficient evidence to the change in toad behaviour. Since H2O2 has active
electrolytes and toad s skins are permeable to electrolytes, toads begin to perceive the feeling of
H2O2 to the presence of an earthquake in the near future. So the smell of hydrogen peroxide and
the feeling of skin being permeated is a cue for toads becoming aware of a future earthquake

Interactive Slots Are The Future Of Casino Games. When
Interactive Slots are the future of Casino games
When you walk into a casino, the first thing to greet you upon your arrival is usually a bright
and shiny video lottery machine, better know as a slot machine. Slot machines are easy to play,
and you can play at your own pace without having to deal with other humans. They are
comforting and simple, leaving the user with an easy task of pushing a putting or pulling a lever.
However, they hold a dirty secret too. The worst odds of all the games you can play at a casino are
those shiny slot machines, with the house having an edge of 10% or more (compared to a 1%
house edge in blackjack for example). Casinos have designed their hotels to take advantage of this
edge, placing slot machines as far ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After using these free online lessons to learn how to play these table games, they go into casinos
not just knowing the basics of the game (taking some of the intimidation away from tables that
would usually push them to the slots) but also with some strategy involved that puts the casino at
less of an advantage compared to younger consumers in the past.
Decline in popularity of slot machines
Because of this switch in popularity from slots to table games, the number of slot machines in
Nevada has dropped from 217,000 in 2001 to 175,000 in 2014. The earnings from slots have
fallen too, as the Center for Gambling Research at UNLV has concluded that Nevada casinos
have experienced a 20% reduction in slot revenue from 2007 to 2014. For MGM resorts itself,
slot revenues have declined from $2 billion in 2006 to $1.65 billion in 2010, mostly as a result of
the economic recession experienced throughout the country, before slowly growing to $1.67 billion
in 2013. Despite the decrease in overall revenues from slots, the casinos have increased its from
every slot machine per day despite shutting down some slots. At the same time, the company has
reported an increase in table games revenues. I think this shift by consumers as a whole, and
especially millennials, is showing that the gambling public is more interested in

Evaluate the impact of changes in the economic environment on a selected business D1
After various changes to the economic tax and interest rate, CPHP have conducted and compiled

the level of public spending in the UK.
The changes in economic environment will affect a business, the profit of the business will be

Recession causes unemployment, this will affect the demand for goods and Tesco profit will drop.
An economic factor that might affect Tesco is the demand of the consumer and customerwhich will

the economy of the business will decrease and the profit of the business will decrease too. This
refers in the fiscal and monetary, for example since when the government decided to raise the VAT
from 17.5% to 20%, the business increase their goods price and due to that reason the customers do
not purchase enough goods like they used.
Social factors refer in the trend of customer which keeps changing their trend, and what the trend

decide to buy already cooked food.

What Impact Does A Difficult Temperament Have On Social...
What impact does a difficult temperament have on social competence in preschool children?
The ability to regulate emotions, thoughts, and behaviors while controlling impulses all have to do
with self management and regulation. These social related skills are impacted by one s own
temperament. Though temperament is believed to be present at birth, research indicates that there are
many environmental factors that can influence temperament. Originally, research on temperament
traits in young children were focused on a child s genetic disposition at birth. However; today,
environmental influences are considered to be equally important to the influence of a child s
temperament development as inborn predispositions. Temperament impacts the young child in
many ways, especially in the development of social competence as it relates to the ability to
empathize with others and in the development of relationship skills including ability to effectively
communicate. Rudasill, Reio, and Stipanovic (2010) research also reiterated that teachers who
create positive, nurturing, and affectionate classroom environments are more likely to have
students who flourish and assert positive social skills when managing social and behavioral
challenges.
Definition of Difficult Temperament
Michael P. McCreery in his article Temperament as a Behavioral Construct, defined temperament as
the biological makeup of an individual shaped over time by heredity, maturity, and experiences.

Dynamic Nominalism
The meaning of dynamic nominalism is that in naming classifications of human types, people
come to fit the label given. A new possibility is offered and this can influence individuals to adopt
characteristics and thus fit in to the new classification. This differs from inert nominalism and
realism as this label may not always be the same one used for the individual, as social change gives
birth to new opportunities, individuals may move categories. This essay is going to explore
Hacking s term dynamic nominalism through the illustration of some of the issues in the emosociety.

Dynamic nominalism differs to both realism and nominalism; it suggests that society is active

that people are pre sorted, that labels exist before we discover that which we label. In contrast a
nominalist believes that the only thing that which is labelled has in common is the label. They also
believe that classifications do not interact with their class and that labels do not change. In the emo

Defendant Hankins filed a motion to correct an illegal sentence on appeal after pleading guilty to
felony charges because he argued a Kansas trial court wrongfully considered a deferred judgment
from Oklahoma in his sentencing calculation. The State argued that Kansas law required such
deferred judgments from other states to be included in sentencing determinations. The Supreme

there was a discrepancy between Kansas and Oklahoma s statutory standards for an entry of a

guilt. However, under Oklahoma law, an entry of judgment will not be entered for an offender who

The Pros And Cons Of Current Account Deficit
The current account is an important component of the balance of trade system of our country. It is
a measurement of a country s trade where the value of the goods and services it exports. A current
account deficit represents negative sales abroad. A country undergoing current account deficit
results in foreign liabilities and debt with the rest of the world. This further leads to payback of
foreign current accountreserves. Current Account includes imports and exports of goods and
services and unilateral transfers of goods and services. Current account deficit in simple words is
the economic situation when the total imports are more than the exports. This means that the
country is importing more than exporting which requires the country to pay for the goods and
services it imports. This leads to an unfavorable economic situation. The present record is a... Show

My Favorite Form Of News Satire And Old Greek Comedy
News satire is one of my favorite forms of comedy. News satire basically takes the news,
something that people see every day and is typically serious, and makes it funny. Sometimes it is
just completely fake or just exaggerated news. It could almost be considered incongruous because
people do not expect news to be funny at all, so the fact that it is turned into comedymakes it
incongruous to its regular nature. At the same time, it is also a form of comic relief . It provides
people with relief from the anxiety they might feel when watching or reading the regular news.
Watching news satire you are more likely to laugh than experience feeling of dread, concern, or
worry. There can also be examples of benign violation depending on the material, so that depends
on the topic the comedian is talking about and the way they decide to portray it. The delivery of
the news is a big part of why it is so funny as well. Typically comedians deliver it a deadpan manner.
Deadpan means that it delivered in an expressionless manner. Funny things said without emotion
are funnier than things said with a lot... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Old Ancient Greek comedy featured outspoken political criticism and commentary and a lot of
news satirists feature political criticism in their material. They both also include buffoonery.
News satire also has some similarities to Roman comedy or New Greek Comedy. All three of
these styles of comedy feature stock characters. The main example of satirical news shows using
stock characters is Saturday Night Live s segment, The Weekend Update. The Weekend Update
features a lot of stock characters like The Girl You Wished You Never Started A Conversation or
One Dimensional Female Character In a Male Driven Comedy. Roman Comedy featured their own
stock characters like the old man, prostitute, and harsh wife. There are a good amount of satirical
shows that do not necessarily use stock

Thoughts on a Possible Rational Reconstruction of the Method of Rational Reconstruction
ABSTRACT: Rational reconstructions standardly operate so as to transform a given problematic
philosophical scientific account particularly of a terminological, methodological or theoretical entity
into a similar, but more precise, consistent interpretation. This method occupies a central position in
the practice of analytic philosophy. Nevertheless, we encounter even if only in a very few specific
publications a vague image of it. This is due on the one hand to the problem of the intentions of
application, i.e., of the normativity of rational reconstruction (descriptive/prescriptive ambivalence).
It is also due on the other hand to the problem of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, we encounter even in the specific publications only a vague image of it.
Surprisingly, there are comparatively few specific publications. Historically they concentrate in the
phase of Logical Empiricism. On the other hand we record a quite extensive literature on the latest
variant of rational reconstruction, the structuralist reconstruction. Besides Kamlah s article, Poser
[1971] is to be mentioned. Further, for Analytical Philosophy directly relevant material includes
mainly brief remarks in preliminaries and digressions, particularly in works of Wolfgang
Stegmller, who established the method in German postwar philosophy. I want to point out his well
known article on Kant (Stegmller [1967]), which I followed when choosing a title for this paper,
as well as his introduction to the fourth volume of his great series on philosophy of science and
Analytical Philosophy with its section Neue Betrachtungen ber die Ziele und Aufgaben der
Wissenschaftstheorie (Stegmller [1973], pp. 1 64). Jrgen Mittelstra has commented for German
Constructivism in some other articles (Mittelstra [1985a], Mittelstra [1985b]). Consequently, a
general, problemizing and coherent Theory of Rational Reconstruction that really would deserve
the name (as well as by the way any kind of Textbook of Rational Reconstruction ) has, as it seems,
remained a desideratum. The varied usage within Analytical Philosophy as well as the

Virginia Hasn T Always Been For Lovers Chapter Summary
In the first chapter of Phyl Newbeck s book Virginia Hasn t always been for Lovers: Interracial
Marriage Bans and the Case of Richard and Mildred Loving, Newbeck introduces the story of
Richard and Mildred Loving, a white male and colored female who married. Their love was pure
and home some. When the two married Mildred did not realize, it was illegal for people of
different races to marry in Virginia. The Lovings lived in Central Point, Virginia their entire lives
until the state forced them to move out of the state and into Washington D.C, where their marriage
was legal. The couple could not even travel into Virginia to visit family without being arrested.

I chose this book because though out the book Newbeck did more than just the case of Loving v.
Virginia but she also talks about all the laws against biracial relationships in all states across the
country before the case was settle in 1967. I chose the topic of interactional couples, and the
acceptance over time because I have a personal connection to the subject. As a Caucasian
/ Native American girl who is in a relationship with a Caucasian/ Mexican boy. Even before I
started this relationship I have been interested in the interracial couple acceptance, growing up in
today s age, I have never really seen color. Yes, I can physical see if someone is an African
American Race or Chinese but never once has it affect how I see them as a person. I have always
believed that when you fall in love with someone you fall in love with their personality and smile.
Every human s smile is differently and it is based from what makes that person laugh. Newbeck,

Sex Harassment And Sexual Harassment
Introduction
Within this piece of work I will explain the following document about sexual harassment and
describe the differences between the comparisons of how it effect s the life s of them who have
experienced the horrors of sexual harassment.
Sexual harassment is a type of bullying, stereo typically towards a woman requesting for sexual
favours and acts in a verbal way it is stated by rape crisis London that within their research they
found that it is Estimates suggest that half of women in employment have been subjected to sexual
harassment (Rape Crisis London).
This can often be found in a workplace whereas for example, a person of a higher role such as a
manager could offer one of his female employees a promotion if she is willing to engage in his
sexually unwelcome behaviour or making comments about her sex life which can cause a hostile
workplace environment. Sexual harassment is defined as an unwelcome behaviour of a sexual
nature and when in a workplace can be referred to as quid pro quo, which basically means you
give me what I want, I ll give you what you want . It is believed that Sexual misconduct has
emerged as a widespread problem throughout the criminal justice system as indicated by law
enforcement officer sexual assault incidents in various cities and the findings of the recent National
Prison Rape Elimination Act Research Commission (Implications for Criminal Justice from the

NBC Nightly News Report
According to an NBC Nightly News report (2011) on a Monday afternoon of April 5, 2010 a
massive sound of underground explosions burst through the Upper Big Branch Mine located in
southern West Virginia killing twenty nine miners. This was reported to be one of the worst
disasters in the United States since 1970. Based on the information reported on the NBC Nightly
News (2011), the owners of Massey Energy along with the Health and Safety Administration fail
the responsibility to ensure the safety conditions of the mine workers. With the intentions to
mislead inspectors, the mine owners of Massey Energy and Upper Big Branch Mine deliberately
kept two separate books on the safety conditions of the company. In one of the books, the owners
of Massey Energy Upper Big Branch Mine reported that there were hazardous conditions in the
company. However, the company kept this book for themselves and another book was given to
federal inspectors with misleading information stating that there were no hazardous conditions
within the coal mine. Therefore, the mine owners business strategy was to keep the coal production
running smoothly and avoid being investigated by inspectors. The culture of the organization

The Most Aggressive Part of Frank
What was once an average daily commute to the office had become the place we hated each
other most. Our ritual ruined us. Every morning before our drive to our respective offices, Frank
brought me a slice of toast buttered on both sides for breakfast. I d adjust his tie once he placed
himself in the driver s seat. His hands always had smears of butter on them, and neither of us
wanted him to ruin his clothes.
On the morning of the accident, he wore the tie I gave him for our first anniversary, before we

Diverse Nature Requires a Corresponding Diverse Environment
Just by the sound of it, it seems so easy to understand that a population that is of diverse nature
definitely requires a corresponding diverse environment upon which it can thrive and succeed. This
philosophy rules out the whole idea as to why architects are continuing to come up with one size
fits all design environments. The question is as to whether their main intention is to create and or
trying to ensure equality. But as already set, the society is composed of a diverse population, which
is a reason enough as to why diverse architectural designs are important for the masses. Critics may
attribute this trend to the notion that methods of construction as well as the costs associated with
diverse designs, alongside the respective site restrictions tend to make the diverse environment to
become infeasible both economically as well as physically. On the contrary in this view, this way of
thinking only makes it difficult for the designers to understand the manner in which the diverse
populations are affected by the buildings. It is with this regard that throughout the historical

seeking the objective truths concerning designs with respect to the entire aspect of life in general.

How Corporate Scandals Crush the Company, Investors, and...
Tracing back the history of accounting scandals, major corporate scandals not only hurt the
economy but also crush investors confidence on investing in companies. For example, the Enron
scandal, the WorldCom scandal, and so on. The majority of corporate scandals are created by
greedy corporate senior officers. One way to create a scandal is cooking the books . Cooking the
book is an accounting term which means making false financial statements in order to meet the
number that investors or banks expected. In this case, Richard Scrushy is one of the greedy Chief
Executive Officers (CEO). According to Washington Post, Richard Scrushy, was a self made son of

emperor of the new economy (Steve Barnette, Washington Post). Richard Scrushy, the CEO and the

August Osage County Movie Analysis
Wow, was the first thought that came to mind when watching the film August Osage County, which
depicts a chaotically enmeshed family. Erratic discipline and dramatic role shifts were visible
within this families. Drugs and alcohol kept this family in a constant state of chaos where
individual s reactions are unpredictable. The familyrule seems to be that the females are mean.
Speak your mind, don t hold your tongue and never think of how what you say will affect others.
The film talked about Violet s upbringing, allowing the viewer to comprehend that she came from a
house of abuse where the mother was mean and seemed to get joy in inflicting pain on her children.
The story of the Christmas boots was a dramatic example of Violet s upbringing. Barbra (Violet s
daughter) also has a sharp tongue because she was raised by her mean spirited mother. The family
of origin is having a strong effect. Left unchallenged a multigenerational dysfunction continues.

Persuasive Essay On Truck Drivers
Truck drivers are essential to this country s economy. Truck driving is one of the only ways that
this country has found to transport most of the goods we produce. There are many flaws in the
other ways we transport goods. As the demand for supply goes up the demand for truck drivers
will go up as well. Driving a tractor trailer or a semi trailer is a great career because of the job
outlook, the work environment, and the benefits and compensation.
Driving a truck can be a great way to make a living without a college degree. Truck driving is one
to the most rapid growing occupations. The Commercial Vehicle Training Association states that,
The truck driver occupation is listed as an occupation with the most growth by the Department of
Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. (Commercial Vehicle Training Association) This is very good
for people who are trying to get into this occupation. This means that anyone that passes all the
requirements is basically guaranteed a job. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
says, The Administration operates a program to improve safety performance and remove high
risk carriers from the Nation s highways. (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration)
Programs like this exist to help make the roads as safe as possible for everyone. Without these
programs there would be hundreds of careless and unsafe drivers on the road. In closing, many
programs have been setup to keep all other drivers and the company s materials safe.
Truck driving is very demanding because of the long periods spent away from home and the
constant driving for a long time. Also some drivers have to load and unload their cargo. The
ATA states that, Working as a long haul truck driver is a major lifestyle choice because these
drivers can be away from home for days or weeks at a time. They spend much of this time alone.
(American Trucking Association) These truck driver s lives are not easy. They spend most of their
time on the road and alone and most of the time when they reach their destination, they have to
unload what is in the trailer. The NAPFTDS says that, All graduates must be able to demonstrate
that they meet federal, state, and local standards as required for professional truck

Reflection About Masculinity Of Sex
I ve come to identify with the masculinity of my gender and establish my sexual orientation as a
hetereosexual individual during the earlier stages of my life. Because my older siblings, not to
mention my parents, would discuss their sexual experiences in my presence, my curiosity was
peaked. Thus, I began to explore my sexuality. During my pre teenage years, I had already
engaged in numerous sex related acts. In comparison to the typical 7 year old boy, I would have
to say my mind developed at a much faster rate growing up. Through pornographic films and self
stimulation, my knowledge of sex expanded exponentially. I was 7 when i first grabbed a
woman s ass. As I watched Mrs. Miller, my second grade teacher, lecture the class in her tight,
little skirt, I experienced my first boner during class. Despite the obvious differences in age and
stature, I fantasized about fucking her every class session. Because my sexual craving for Mrs.
Miller was so intense, I disregarded all possible consequences in one class session and firmly
squeezed her fat ass. As expected, I was scolded and instructed to never do it again. Although the
school, as well as my parents, essentially forbid me from exploring my sexuality, I secretly
disobeyed them. I browsed through countless porn sites. Depending on the day, I searched for either
busty MILFS or blonde lesbians. From that moment on, I had wet dreams roughly every other night.
However, since these thoughts and actions were considered shameful

Virtual Reality By Morton Heilig
Virtual reality is a computer generated three dimensional environment that allows interaction. This
field of digital art was originally explored and created by Morton Heilig, who thought of extending
the cinematic experience to something that would involve the human senses and enable them to
interact with it. Nevertheless, many artists contributed to the development of the virtual reality
afterwards. Scott Fisher, who was inspired by Heilig s ideas, pushed the boundaries of the virtual
reality, to give the user more control over his experience. In this essay, I will be comparing
between the two artists and their ideas, and the way they contributed to the creation and
development of this form of art.

Morton Heilig was the first to explore the concept of virtual reality, and is considered to be the

Theu.s. Constitution Vs. The Constitution
The U.S Constitution was written by James Madison and was ratified on July 21, 1788. Ever since
people had trouble determining how it should be interpreted. When judges interpret the constitution,
they are interpreting new facts to an established law that has been given meaning and has a
historical background. Many people argue that it should be read how it was written who are known
as Originalists. Then there are people who believe that the Constitutionevolves as society does and
they are known as Living Constitutionalists. Also, some feel that the goal is not do determine
whether the constitution should be determined originally or as a living document, but to give
meaning on the basis of facts. In my paper I will discuss arguments on how the Constitution should
be read, whether it be from the Originalists or the Living Constitutionalist s point of view, and why
Living Constitutionalism is better. As society evolves, there are new and more difficult problems
that occur, and they cannot be solved by reading the exact text of the Constitution which makes
Living Constitutionalism better. According to Meese Their intention was to write a document not

The Government Intervention Of Medicalization
Katie Chirco Government Intervention of Medicalization Medicalization is defined as the
process by which nonmedical problems become defined and treated as medical problems,
usually in the terms of illnesses and disorders. Medicalization consists of using medical terms to
define, understand and treat a problem. There are three levels of medicalization: fully
medicalized, partially medicalized, and minimally medicalized. Childbirth and death are two
examples of a fully medicalized condition. Menopause and drug addiction are examples of
problems that are partially medicalized. Domestic abuse and sexual addiction are examples of
conditions that are minimally medicalized (Conrad, 1992). However, it is unclear of what
exactly determines what level of medicalization a condition falls under. The process of
medicalization is very broad and not very consistent from case to case. There are some instances
where medical professionals are involved in a condition becoming medicalized, while there are
other times where there are no medical professionals involved in the process whatsoever. It was
not until the 1970 s that the social issue of medicalization began being debated. It was during this
decade where social problems like hyperactivity in children, child abuse and alcoholism all were
becoming medicalized (Conrad, 1992). The biggest controversy over this was that many believed
that nonmedical issues were inappropriately becoming medicalized. Ever since then, more and

The use of names throughout the novel is also a way to show the power roles between the

Essay The Elizabethan Monarchy
The Elizabethan Era was from 1533 (the birth of Queen Elizabeth 1) till 1603 (her death). Queen
Elizabeth was the one who was responsible for what happened to the country during this era. For
Queen Elizabeth, being part of the Elizabethan Royalty was a tough and challenging task. She
played an important role within the religious conflicts for power between England and it s
neighboring countries, had the constant pressure to produce a successor, and had to endure sexual

These people were closely associated with Mary Queen of Scots for it included Mary s mother,
Mary of Guise. At the time the Guises had bigger problems to worry about than the Elizabethan

Presbyterian Church had despised Catholicism and therefore gave Queen Elizabeth their support of
her claim to the throne. With the support that Queen Elizabeth needed she was able to start planing
a military intervention to Scotland which would end up in a war with France. An intervention is the

In order to overcome the grief of someone is dead that is truly dear to them they generally
replace lost ones with new relationships with others. Susie s loved ones replace her with others
such as Abigail, whom had an affair with the detective Len Fenerman, she needed to drive the
daughter out (Sebold 152). When Susie was alive Abigail and Susie would always be together,
but afterwards Susie s death Abigail is getting distant from the family. When Abigail is with the
family it reminds her of Susie and the whole surviving grief and the whole coping with grief
continues. When Abigail is with Len she forgets that she has to grief, and forgets everything
that is going on. The family symbolizes that Susie is still part of them, and reminds Abigail
about Susie s murder when with family. Jack replaces Susie with Susie s brother, Buckley you
are important to me kiddo (Sebold 68). Before Susie s death Jack used to be more affectionate
toward Susie s than other siblings but after Susie s murder, Jack started to spend more time with
Buckley and replace Susie with Buckley. Jack replacing Susie with Buckley symbolizes , Buckley

The earnings per share is $3.54, while the price earnings ratio is at 18.21. Chase Corporation
turns over their inventory about 5 times in a fiscal year, lower than the industry average of
about 7. Their days sales outstanding (DSO) rose during fiscal year 2016 to about 70 days. An
increase means that it is taking longer for the customers to pay the bills, but it was only an
increase of about 2 days. Along with the increase to the DSO it took Chase about 58 days to
collect their accounts receivable and they had an accounts receivable turnover ratio of about 6
times per year. This was consistent with the previous year. Finally, when assessing the liquidity of
the current assets and liabilities, in regard to whether the current assets could pay for the current
liabilities if need be, I found the current ratio to be 2.03:1, which is good. This means that for
every dollar of current liabilities, there are two dollars of current assets. Getting more specific,
when a quick ratio was run, comparing the most liquid current assets to the current liabilities, the
ratio was 1.69:1. This ratio allows companies to check and see if it can cover the current liabilities

Helicopter Parenting Analysis
Helicopter parenting is when a parent or guardian is overly concerned, and involved in their child s
performance in various activities and their physical well being. As discussed in lecture, this concept
largely stems from the idea that the world has become increasingly dangerous since the parents of
the millennial generation were children and in turn they over compensate by becoming involved in
their children s action and life decisions, both big and small. During this observation I noticed many
insistences of helicopter parenting, the most prominent were the parents in the stands who were
shouting very loudly the entire game. Though they allowed their child to play a contact sport many
of them spent the entire game literally on the edge... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The couple used as an example in Randall s chapter did not initiate co sleeping because of their
own cultural traditions or values but because they were unable to comfortably sleep themselves.
They were concerned that they were unable to hear her breathing from their bed, I assume they
were worried about sudden infant death syndrome. Though it is common practice in many other
cultures, co sleeping is not recommended by western physicians who say there is a risk of the
child suffocating from the weight of the sleeping adult or from becoming entrapped by the
bedding, or the adults clothing. (Randall, 2012, 79) It seems that helicopter parenting steams from
fear for the child s well being which the clouds the child s

Savagery In Super Disasters Of The 21st Century
An unwavering fear pounds at your heart, as loud as the howling wind outside. The thought of
losing those whom you hold dearest mercilessly tugs at your thoughts. Outside, the cries of agony
and despair have now become a desperate, helpless song that only adds to your horror and fear.
Can you imagine? It is very difficult to fully envision disaster at such enormous proportions, but
authors Jacqueline Adams, Ken Kostel, and Sebastian Junger utilize different writing approaches to
reveal the true colors of nature s savagery. In the excerpt Super Disasters of the 21st Century,
Adams and Kostel employ scientific information and statistics, ingenious subheadings, and loaded
language to compel their audiences; whereas Junger takes a slightly more personal twist along with

The King Case Of Rodney King
One of the examples of how the media can play a role in court cases is the Rodney King case.

William Faulkner once said, We must be free not because we claim freedom, but because we

see a drastic difference. In a historicist perspective, a short story that captures this country s past is
William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily written and published in 1930 and was William Faulkner s
first short storyto be published in a national magazine. The critics and the public view the reading
somewhat well, however, there were some disturbing instances that made the public more shocked
and disturbed by the short story. William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily reveals the standards of

Comparing the treatments of African Americans in the 1930s to the African Americans in
William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily there was a change in how they were treated as time went
on, and during the 1930s African Americans were still segregated from the Caucasians however
were treated far better than the time when this story is taking place. William Faulkner s A Rose
for Emily gives a few details on the treatment of African American such as this quote from the
story, Alive, Miss Emily had been a tradition, a duty, and a care; a sort of hereditary obligation
upon the town, dating from that day in 1894 when Colonel Sartoris, the mayor he who fathered the
edict that no Negro woman should appear on the streets without an apron remitted her taxes, the
dispensation dating from the death of her father on into perpetuity. (Faulkner, 1) During that time
there were many restrictions for the African American and during that time many were slaves in
the south, where this story is located. When this work was published racial issues were a problem
during that time and this story gave a bit of light to that situation. Moreover, William Faulkner s A
Rose for Emily gives the reader a better understanding of the past of what was happening in the

Knowledge Through Sense Perception, Emotion, Language, And...
Knowledge can be defined as information gained through sense perception, emotion, language
and reason, while it is defined by Plato as justified true belief. The claim that knowledge takes
the form of a combination of stories and facts is however not accurate in history and biology.
First, it brings up the questions of what are stories and what are facts. Stories are accounts of
past events from somebody s perspective, while a fact is the truth. When looking at the two
areas of knowledge, they each favour one side of the combination over the other. For example,
knowledge from history mostly takes the form of stories, while knowledge from biology mostly
takes the form of facts. This distinction between the different types of knowledge leads to the
knowledge questions of How do we obtain knowledge in the different areas of knowing? and To
what extend is knowledge in certain areas of knowledge subjective or objective? When studying
history, the way to obtain knowledge from it is to use primary and secondary sources, because
we can only use sources from the events of past, and we cannot actually perceive the events. By
the reason of that, I believe that history is an area of knowledge that is mostly made up of stories,
and what we call history is the modern interpretation of those stories. This is because when I was
studying about the atomic bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I found out that primary sources
such as newspaper articles from America had bias in them. They

Pablo Neruda Persona Persona
In the world of flux where identity is transformed and transfixed in such a way that one has quest
for one s identity. Man is a combination of complex selves that he folds and unfolds time to time.
In the quest for identity, memory plays a vital role as it assimilates past experiences and
reevaluates identity and present scenario. For Pablo Neruda, a Chilean Poet and Diplomat, identity
is a constant periphery which circles around his multiple selves. Born and brought up in a small
village of Chile, Neruda is passionate about Nature, places and people. Inexhaustible traveler and
incessant acquaintance with the different people creates a deep influence on his creative writing.
The range of Neruda s poems indicates clearly that the poet persona... Show more content on

household works of feeding bread to all and giving warmth in winter to handle leaky terrace of
the house in a rainy season. She performs all her duties silently and submissively as a country
woman of that time. Mother s genial nature and selflessness creates imperishable memories and
space in the poet s mind that it is impossible for him to forget her mother for a moment. Even so
the poet is not sharing any genealogical or biological identity with his stepmother still; he is

Framing Perspective Of Conflict
A typical conflict situation I have experienced would be when one party misunderstands the other
parties goals, motives, or attitudes about a given situation. The framing perspective states that
conflicts may be influenced by the way the conflict was initially framed. Also, the way a conflict is
framed may be affected by the interaction between the parties and frames may shift as the conflict
progresses (Folger, Poole, Stutman 89). Fractionation is a good way to break down conflicts into
smaller components, which can be dealt with more quickly and uncover possible umbrellas. An
umbrella is a way for a party to legitimatize complaints when the original issue that caused the
conflict is not accepted as valid. It is important for all parties to... Show more content on

The social identities could be related to race, religion, gender, or age. There are intergroup
differences, but in many cases, these differences are not the primary cause of the conflict between
the individuals. Communication plays a significant role in social categorization and identities. A
person may feel misunderstood, but it is imperative that they do not jump to the conclusion that
it is because they are a male or female, or based on their race. Everyone has different goals and
beliefs, and they cannot be determined by social identities. If an individual goes into a
conversation believing they will be misunderstood based on their gender or race, there is a strong
possibility that they will feel that way after the conversation. Even though an individual may not
appreciate why a person may feel misunderstood it is beneficial to communicate in a polite way
by acknowledging how the other party feels. If a person feels misunderstood, they should examine
why they feel that way. If their initial response is based on a social identity, they should reevaluate
the situation and determine if other reasons have caused the misunderstanding. The individual
could consider how they would feel if they were another gender or race and if it was different,
there is the possibility that they feel misunderstood based on a social identity. If a person thinks
they are misunderstood because of a

and talking. The hall also hosted dances and plays, visiting theater groups, and other festivals
that took place in and around our village. To live close to the hall was entertaining as we could

as the older boys and girls would leave the beer hall and sing and dance their way down the street.

Mama, Erich and I cut some branches off a large pine tree so we could arrange them in a pot of
water. That was our Christmas tree. We had no ornaments or home baked goods to decorate the
tree as we had in Jena before the war or when we visited Grandpa s farm. But Mama knitted socks
for us and she placed them under the tree. I had a doll made from potatoes, which had no legs,
but Mama knitted tiny socks for my doll anyway. This made us all laugh. On Christmas Eve, we
huddled around our tree and exchanged memories about our lives in the city and our visits to
Grandpa s farm. Mama cried and I cried with her. I loved Grandpa so much, I whimpered. We all
do, Mama said, using her apron to wipe her tears. Do you think he is dead, Mama? Erich asked,
always stoic and logical. Only God knows, Mama replied. I said my little prayer and added, God,
let Santa come to our house and bring us gifts. Within minutes there was a knock on the door.
When Mama opened it, a lady stood in the snow and handed her a prayer book. The pretty stranger

Privacy Is An American Invasion Of Privacy
Introduction
Privacy is an especially equivocal idea, in particularly because invasion of privacy is a concept that
is arguably questionable. Privacy has been defined as the right to be left alone without unwarranted
intrusion by government, media, or other institutions or individuals. While this definition serves as
a quick start to the right of privacy, there are still several interpretations as to what may or may
not constitute as an invasion of privacy. What one person may believe to be an innocent
curiosity, another may feel as though it is a deliberate invasion of privacy. Often these disputes
make their way into courtrooms and are subjected to controversy and evaluation. This essay will
focus on appropriation of name or likeness for commercial purposes. First, it will define the right
of privacy, and right of publicity. Next, the evaluation and discussion of four cases in which
appropriation of name or likeness for commercial gain was assessed in courtrooms. Then after,
thoughts on current developments in this area of law will be discussed, as well as suggestions for
current working journalists. Finally, closing and concluding statements will be addressed.
Background
In the mid twentieth century, the tort of appropriation experienced a shift. Courts reoriented the
tort so that it no longer exclusively protected a person s interest in dignity or privacy, but rather the
pecuniary interest in the commercial exploitation of one s identity, or one s

Representation Of Love In Romeo And Juliet
Love is the profound theme in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare.
Shakespeare portrays love as a violent yet ecstatic, overpowering force. The force of love
persuades the thoughts and actions of the characters leading them to drastic measures. Romeo and
Juliet show great devotion to one another despite the trouble it causes. Over the course of the play,
Shakespeare displays the forcefulness and intensity of loveby the abandonment of friends and
family, feud, and death. Both Romeo and Juliet aren t afraid of the consequences of abandoning
their loved ones. Romeo leaves his friends behind in order to be with Juliet. In return, Juliet
would give up her name, and put her family on the line, just to be with Romeo. Juliet expresses
her thoughts aloud as she says, O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father
and refuse thy name! Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I ll no longer be a Capulet
(II.ii.33 36). Both lovers have been driven to defy their social lives and go against everything they
have ever known. The same force pulling the lovers together is... Show more content on

  • 2. Key Beliefs Of Secular Individualism A secularist is a worldview that rejects religious faith and anything spiritually related. They don t believe that life s ultimate questions are answered spiritually. They believe human existence is explained in terms of the material not spiritual. Humanism, individualism, materialism and science are all forms and key beliefs of secularism. All these key beliefs and forms of secularism show what secularists believe in. A key belief of a secularist worldview regarding life after death is secular humanismwhich is a different form of secularism. Humanism is a worldview about the dignity of a human person and when others views try to take that dignity away from the human person. Secular humanism is the belief that God takes away the dignity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Materialism is about objects and things and the desire to have them. It s means believing in the reality of things rather than spiritual or ethical values and realises the reality of the external world. All the knowledge, characteristics and behaviour of people and the answers to life ultimate questions are due to material not spiritual. It is due to the experience, observation and reasoning from the material. They believe that relying on spiritual values is considered to be imaginary and unrealistic and isn t the truth. Secular materialism believes in the difference between facts and values and only goes by the facts not the spiritual values. The belief in the growing of success in an individual itself and having the wealth and to keep on growing with success shows the materialism within secularism. Secular views in the growing of success within an individual and each individual should keep on growing with their own success and having this success is all you need. As the years has gone by there are more materialist attitudes as more and more technology etc. has come out. Secularists believe in the facts, which is what science is all about, facts. The cultural awareness assessment which I scored lower on was due to inexperience for some of the questions that were asked. Question one, for example, asked, I listen to people from other cultures when they tell me how my cultureaffects them is one experience I have yet to encounter. I have always considered a person culture and briefs are fascinating in every fashion. Growing up in a very diverse environment allowed me the opportunity to interact with people of many different cultures, religions, beliefs, and practices. Mendez, the sixty two year old Mexican patient. Nurses usually report that expressive patients often come from Hispanic, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean background. Mrs. Mendez was expressing her pain after waking from sedation and was immediately was given morphine for the pain. The morphine did nothing to ease the pain, so doctors checked her vital signs and considered her stable. After being stereotyped, doctors discovered complication from the surgery that was treated but may have been disastrous if not treated. It is highly critical that healthcare provider never assumes or judge a patient, let alone stereotype them. Jehovah s Witness prohibition about accepting blood transfusion is an excellent example of religious conflicts when providing culturally sensitive care to patients. For Jehovah s Witness choosing to have a blood transfusion can be interpreted as giving up the chance to spend eternity in heaven or paradise in exchange for a few more years on earth. I disagree with them cause me and my partner tested both thoughts of each group. The first thing me and my partner did was put it in a well tray and put water in it. Then we tested the temperature the mystery mixture was 15.9, bakingsoda and citric acid was 16.2 degrees Fahrenheit, and baking soda citric acid and epsom salt was 16.8. After we did this we put 10 drops of water in them and left them overnight. When we came back the next morning we looked and they all turned to a crystal looking thing on the bottom of the well tray they were all white but baking soda, citric acid and epsom salt looked a little different because at the bottom it had more white color. But for baking soda and citric acid it left barely any color just like the mystery mixture. That is why I disagree with baking soda, citric acid and epsom salt.... • 5. Island Bay Essay Island bay and Owhiro bay, Wellington to collect data on the species of the rocky shore. This area showed a clear pattern of the low tide, mid tide, high tide and splash zone. The area had a variety of rocky shore species which were distributed in a zonation pattern. The two species I have chosen to investigate are the Cellana radians and the Cellana denticulata. Cellana radians commonly known as the Golden/radiate limpet has an outer shell that is smooth and very flat and usually has a darker colour with dark coloured lines. The Cellana radians is found in the lower intertidal zoneand the mid intertidal zone and none in the high tidezone at sirens rocks. The Cellana radians are herbivores and feed on microalgae. The Cellana denticulata commonly known as the denticulate limpet has an outer cap shaped shell that tends to have brown lines, this protects their muscular foot, and the Cellana denticulata is an herbivore feeding on microalgae. It is found in the upper lower intertidal zone, mid tide zone and very few in the high tide zone at sirens rock. The Cellana denticulata and the Cellana radians showed that at sirens rocks the community pattern of distribution was zonation. I will also be investigating the adaptations, tolerance levels for abiotic factors for each species and the biotic factors such as their interspecific relationship of competition for food and space on the rocky shore surface relating to their distribution along the rocky shoreline at sirens rocks. ... • 6. Big Hero 6 Research Paper The film Big Hero 6, is an animated superhero comedy movie produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The movie is about Hiro, a 14 year old boy who makes an incredible invention called microbots to try to achieve his dream of enrolling into the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. The microbots are tiny robots that are linked together through anyway, through a neuro transmitter. However, trouble strikes as someone steals them, but Hiro and his deceased brother s medical assistant robot Betamax save the day along with the other four heroes who were his brother s friends at the institute as they capture the villain. Overall, Big Hero 6was a very intriguing and interesting movie as I noticed that it entered the technological field, as opposed to other Disney movies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believed that Big Hero 6 stands out from all the other Disney movies as from my evaluation through the movie made me notice that it s characters were mostly all centered around smart human beings. However, due to this, Disney still used a well known cliche as they still have at least one dumb character mostly for comedic purposes. Another well known cliche in Disney movies that is seen in Big Hero 6, is how at least one person dies in the movie whether it be during the movie, or in the introduction. Many Disney movies play out like this to create/develop a conflict, but however it is later resolved with a happy ending where all the characters achieve a particular goal or solve the conflict. But most movies aimed towards kids will always have a happy ending, as they don t want to end on a sour note. In my analysis of Big Hero 6, I saw that symbolism was conveyed throughout the movie. One notable example, came at the expense of Tadashi, Hiro s brother, as he sacrifices his life to try to save Callaghan. The loss of Tadashi consumes Hiro s will to learn/create or to even leave his house. But however, it makes him depressed and wants him to take his anger/revenge out on Callaghan who he faked his ... As a long range shooter, I, know that small errors in any method applied or even a tiny change in wind will make the difference between that sweet steel hitting music or a disappointing miss. He lives in a small apartment in Southie and has been working as a janitor at M.I.T under the supervision of the Parole Employment Program. As a child, Will was constantly in and out of foster homes due to the physical abuse by three different foster fathers since adolescence and has a history of assault, grand theft, resisting arrest, mayhem, impersonating an officer. As an effect of this abuse Will blames himself for his unhappy childhood and turns his anger issues into a form of self sabotage in both his professional and emotional lives. Hence why he is unable to maintain either a steady job or romantic relationship. He always wore slacks, and t shirt to all his therapy sessions, but his clothes appear to be clean. Will Hunting had anger issues and was very oppositional to authority figures. He also had abandonment issues. He was arrested for fighting and beating up another young man who he went to kindergarten with. At his court appearance, he was mandated to attend therapy twice a week and also required to report to Professor Lambeau once a week. He saw five therapists with whom he failed to connect, prior to seeing Sean Maguire. He terminated himself from some of his previous therapy sessions. Two of his therapists walked out on him. • 10. Common Toad Behavior Seismic events, if strong enough, are extremely random earthquakes felt in various parts of the Earth. As astronomer Seth Shostak once said, We still have no way to eliminate earthquakes, wildfires, hurricanes, floods or droughts (Seth Shostak). Humans cannot stop earthquakes but they can predict them using modern technology, geo mapping, and by studying behaviours in animals. In this article we examine how the Common toad (Bufo bufo) behaves before, during, and after an earthquakeand how this can help humans in understanding the early signs of an earthquake. Before observing the Common toads behaviour, we must explain what goes on during an earthquake to fully understand the behavioural changes these toads undergo. Through common knowledge, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is why an internal process that may help toads predict earthquakes can be linked to their olfactory senses and their epidermis. Toads are amphibians making them sensitive to changes in water chemistry, since they breed and live a majority of their lives in damp habitats. Grant and colleagues further study the changes in water chemistry with respect to the effect on toads. When an earthquake occurs it releases positive hole charge carriers, and are equivalent to *O radicals. This makes them extremely reactive and highly oxidizing, letting them execute various reactions once they reach the surface. One of the reactions is oxidizing H2O (water) into H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide). The oxidization of H2O coupled with the fact that toads live mainly in damp areas gives sufficient evidence to the change in toad behaviour. Since H2O2 has active electrolytes and toad s skins are permeable to electrolytes, toads begin to perceive the feeling of H2O2 to the presence of an earthquake in the near future. So the smell of hydrogen peroxide and the feeling of skin being permeated is a cue for toads becoming aware of a future earthquake (Rachel A. Grant et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When Interactive Slots are the future of Casino games When you walk into a casino, the first thing to greet you upon your arrival is usually a bright and shiny video lottery machine, better know as a slot machine. Slot machines are easy to play, and you can play at your own pace without having to deal with other humans. They are comforting and simple, leaving the user with an easy task of pushing a putting or pulling a lever. However, they hold a dirty secret too. The worst odds of all the games you can play at a casino are those shiny slot machines, with the house having an edge of 10% or more (compared to a 1% house edge in blackjack for example). Decline in popularity of slot machines Because of this switch in popularity from slots to table games, the number of slot machines in Nevada has dropped from 217,000 in 2001 to 175,000 in 2014. The earnings from slots have fallen too, as the Center for Gambling Research at UNLV has concluded that Nevada casinos have experienced a 20% reduction in slot revenue from 2007 to 2014. For MGM resorts itself, slot revenues have declined from $2 billion in 2006 to $1.65 billion in 2010, mostly as a result of the economic recession experienced throughout the country, before slowly growing to $1.67 billion in 2013. Despite the decrease in overall revenues from slots, the casinos have increased its from every slot machine per day despite shutting down some slots. At the same time, the company has reported an increase in table games revenues. Evaluate the impact of changes in the economic environment on a selected business D1 After various changes to the economic tax and interest rate, CPHP have conducted and compiled research into current public spending. • 13. What Impact Does A Difficult Temperament Have On Social... What impact does a difficult temperament have on social competence in preschool children? The ability to regulate emotions, thoughts, and behaviors while controlling impulses all have to do with self management and regulation. These social related skills are impacted by one s own temperament. Though temperament is believed to be present at birth, research indicates that there are many environmental factors that can influence temperament. Originally, research on temperament traits in young children were focused on a child s genetic disposition at birth. However; today, environmental influences are considered to be equally important to the influence of a child s temperament development as inborn predispositions. Temperament impacts the young child in many ways, especially in the development of social competence as it relates to the ability to empathize with others and in the development of relationship skills including ability to effectively communicate. Rudasill, Reio, and Stipanovic (2010) research also reiterated that teachers who create positive, nurturing, and affectionate classroom environments are more likely to have students who flourish and assert positive social skills when managing social and behavioral challenges. • 14. Dynamic Nominalism The meaning of dynamic nominalism is that in naming classifications of human types, people come to fit the label given. Kansas Defendant Hankins filed a motion to correct an illegal sentence on appeal after pleading guilty to felony charges because he argued a Kansas trial court wrongfully considered a deferred judgment from Oklahoma in his sentencing calculation. The State argued that Kansas law required such deferred judgments from other states to be included in sentencing determinations. The Supreme Court of Kansas disagreed with the Court of Appeals dismissal of Hankins motion, finding that there was a discrepancy between Kansas and Oklahoma s statutory standards for an entry of a judgment of guilt. Under Kansas law, the Court concluded, a conviction requires a judgment of guilt. News satire basically takes the news, something that people see every day and is typically serious, and makes it funny. Sometimes it is just completely fake or just exaggerated news. It could almost be considered incongruous because people do not expect news to be funny at all, so the fact that it is turned into comedymakes it incongruous to its regular nature. At the same time, it is also a form of comic relief . It provides people with relief from the anxiety they might feel when watching or reading the regular news. Watching news satire you are more likely to laugh than experience feeling of dread, concern, or worry. There can also be examples of benign violation depending on the material, so that depends on the topic the comedian is talking about and the way they decide to portray it. This method occupies a central position in the practice of analytic philosophy. Nevertheless, we encounter even if only in a very few specific publications a vague image of it. Surprisingly, there are comparatively few specific publications. Historically they concentrate in the phase of Logical Empiricism. On the other hand we record a quite extensive literature on the latest variant of rational reconstruction, the structuralist reconstruction. Besides Kamlah s article, Poser [1971] is to be mentioned. Further, for Analytical Philosophy directly relevant material includes mainly brief remarks in preliminaries and digressions, particularly in works of Wolfgang Stegmller, who established the method in German postwar philosophy. I want to point out his well known article on Kant (Stegmller [1967]), which I followed when choosing a title for this paper, as well as his introduction to the fourth volume of his great series on philosophy of science and Analytical Philosophy with its section Neue Betrachtungen ber die Ziele und Aufgaben der Wissenschaftstheorie (Stegmller [1973], pp. 1 64). Jrgen Mittelstra has commented for German Constructivism in some other articles (Mittelstra [1985a], Mittelstra [1985b]). Diverse Nature Requires a Corresponding Diverse Environment Just by the sound of it, it seems so easy to understand that a population that is of diverse nature definitely requires a corresponding diverse environment upon which it can thrive and succeed. This philosophy rules out the whole idea as to why architects are continuing to come up with one size fits all design environments. The question is as to whether their main intention is to create and or trying to ensure equality. But as already set, the society is composed of a diverse population, which is a reason enough as to why diverse architectural designs are important for the masses. Critics may attribute this trend to the notion that methods of construction as well as the costs associated with diverse designs, alongside the respective site restrictions tend to make the diverse environment to become infeasible both economically as well as physically. On the contrary in this view, this way of thinking only makes it difficult for the designers to understand the manner in which the diverse populations are affected by the buildings. As society evolves, there are new and more difficult problems that occur, and they cannot be solved by reading the exact text of the Constitution which makes Living Constitutionalism better. According to Meese Their intention was to write a document not just for their times, but for posterity. (Meese 15) Living Constitutionalists might say this is a very bold statement. Regan was a Republican; however, he was not a conservative Republican. He believed that he could sway Democrats to his ideology on some aspects. Regan was a people s president in some respects. • 38. The Government Intervention Of Medicalization Katie Chirco Government Intervention of Medicalization Medicalization is defined as the process by which nonmedical problems become defined and treated as medical problems, usually in the terms of illnesses and disorders. Medicalization consists of using medical terms to define, understand and treat a problem. There are three levels of medicalization: fully medicalized, partially medicalized, and minimally medicalized. Childbirth and death are two examples of a fully medicalized condition. Menopause and drug addiction are examples of problems that are partially medicalized. Domestic abuse and sexual addiction are examples of conditions that are minimally medicalized (Conrad, 1992). However, it is unclear of what exactly determines what level of medicalization a condition falls under. The process of medicalization is very broad and not very consistent from case to case. There are some instances where medical professionals are involved in a condition becoming medicalized, while there are other times where there are no medical professionals involved in the process whatsoever. It was not until the 1970 s that the social issue of medicalization began being debated. It was during this decade where social problems like hyperactivity in children, child abuse and alcoholism all were becoming medicalized (Conrad, 1992). The biggest controversy over this was that many believed that nonmedical issues were inappropriately becoming medicalized. Ever since then, more and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Knowledge can be defined as information gained through sense perception, emotion, language and reason, while it is defined by Plato as justified true belief. The claim that knowledge takes the form of a combination of stories and facts is however not accurate in history and biology. First, it brings up the questions of what are stories and what are facts. Stories are accounts of past events from somebody s perspective, while a fact is the truth. When looking at the two areas of knowledge, they each favour one side of the combination over the other. For example, knowledge from history mostly takes the form of stories, while knowledge from biology mostly takes the form of facts. This distinction between the different types of knowledge leads to the knowledge questions of How do we obtain knowledge in the different areas of knowing? and To what extend is knowledge in certain areas of knowledge subjective or objective? When studying history, the way to obtain knowledge from it is to use primary and secondary sources, because we can only use sources from the events of past, and we cannot actually perceive the events. By the reason of that, I believe that history is an area of knowledge that is mostly made up of stories, and what we call history is the modern interpretation of those stories. This is because when I was studying about the atomic bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I found out that primary sources such as newspaper articles from America had bias in them. They ... Privacy has been defined as the right to be left alone without unwarranted intrusion by government, media, or other institutions or individuals. While this definition serves as a quick start to the right of privacy, there are still several interpretations as to what may or may not constitute as an invasion of privacy. What one person may believe to be an innocent curiosity, another may feel as though it is a deliberate invasion of privacy. Often these disputes make their way into courtrooms and are subjected to controversy and evaluation. This essay will focus on appropriation of name or likeness for commercial purposes. First, it will define the right of privacy, and right of publicity. Next, the evaluation and discussion of four cases in which appropriation of name or likeness for commercial gain was assessed in courtrooms. Then after, thoughts on current developments in this area of law will be discussed, as well as suggestions for current working journalists. Finally, closing and concluding statements will be addressed. Background In the mid twentieth century, the tort of appropriation experienced a shift.
