How Is Media Inherently Bias
Media is not inherently bias, however different viewpoints, goals and opinions cause media
sources to be biased. Even though the press is supposed to be impartial and provide truthful
information to the people, emotions, and opinions cause journalists to manipulate the content the
press produces. This leads to a multitude of alternate biases. For example, some media sources
are biased in the favor of Republicans and others in the favor of Democrats. Many are also
independent and have a set of views and beliefs all their own. Media biases also vary in intensity.
Some sources may attempt to seem neutral, but possess an underlying biasto a certain side. Others,
on the other hand, may thrive on criticizing and denouncing an opposing side.

It was created to be free of external influence and free to cover all stories possible. Even though
some news is impartial, people have different biases and many media organizations attempt to
appeal to that bias through gatekeeping and agenda setting. This allows people to congregate
with others with the same views and create an atmosphere that ignores people who do not have
the same biases. Consequently, people become polarized and oblivious to the people on the
opposite side of the ideological spectrum. However, simply diversifying the sources of one s
media intake may break through the atmosphere of polarization. If one understands the opposing
side s point of view, then he or she will discover other types of bias and the reasons behind that
bias. In other words, if a person were to watch solely Democratic sources of media, then he or
she will never comprehend the Republican point of view. However, if the person chooses to
watch a variety of news sources, then he or she will learn to appreciate both sides of the political
spectrum. The observer will then understand that the media is geared towards a specific audience
and all have different biases and bias

The Innumerable Meanings of Moby Dick Essay
The Innumerable Meanings of Moby Dick
Call me Ishmael. The first line of this story begins with an assertion of self identity. Before the
second page is reached, it becomes quite clear to me that within this assertion of self identity lay an
enticing universality. Ishmael represents every man somehow and no man entirely. He is an
individual in his own right, while personifying a basic human desire for something more, something
extraordinary. As his name implies, he is an outcast from a great family (p.18). Although we all
share Ishmael s yearning for adventure (however deeply hidden it may be), to throw aside our
civilization (despite its discontents ) could mean societal suicide. So, we look through his eyes, we
cling to his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When our world becomes too restrictive and society s dictates threaten to overwhelm him, rather
than lashing out at his fellow landlocked prisoners he quietly takes the ship (p. 18). And for those
too apprehensive to leave the safety and steadiness of land, Ishmael recounts his adventure so that
others can vicariously experience his freedom.
Here we have come across one of the many wonders of story telling: Stories allow us to see
things we might not have the audacity to see ourselves and to become things well beyond our own
perceived potential. And so we turn to stories to fill our voids, to quench the fires of our hopes and
dreams, to calm our restless spirits. We might choose security rather than spontaneity and comfort
rather than jeopardy, but we are able to do so and remain sane only with promise of participation in
something outside of ourselves.
Through our relationships to the boundless expanse inherent in the telling of stories, the great
flood gates of the wonder world swing open (p. 20). The story of Moby Dick is particularly
compelling, as it presents us with the ungraspable phantom of life and then subsequently offers us
the key to it all (p. 20). Through a first person narrative dictating a story intrinsically linked to the
universality of human restlessness, Melville offers each of us a window of reprieve. We may
choose to take it as an important life lesson and throw caution and practicality to the wind in

Recently, in a telephone conversation with the current owner of Valley Motors, Greg Voeltz, on
February 7, 2008, he contends Valley Motors current location is surrounded by affluent
communities like Old Cherry Hills, Cherry Hills Village, Columbine Country Club, Greenwood
Village, The Preserve and Polo Reserve to name a few. He explains that Valley Motors is the only
independent Mercedes Benz dealership in the south metro area. To move further south, with an
emphasis
Fisher 2 on Highlands Ranch, is perceived as detrimental at this time for the reasons above.
Additionally, south Broadway is perceived by many metro residents as the place to go for high
end automobiles in the south metro area, according to Voeltz. He admits that Valley Motors is at
the northerly end of those dealerships. However, Valley Motors current location has not, to his
knowledge, been perceived as being either too far north or not southerly enough. The Ralph
Schomp BMW dealership is moving further south due to lack of space; however, they will
continue to maintain their existing location on Broadway for their Honda line. In spite of their
move, there continues to be high end dealerships in the immediate area to Valley Motors like Kuni

The United States And The Vietnam War
A Day to Remember
It seems as if the united states are always fighting a battle whether it is overseas or within its
own borders. The citizens were not ready for what the 1970 s was going to bring, socially,
economically, and religiously. Jim Jones was going to bring peace and relief to these people in the
most tragic way possible. With brain washing, manipulation, and isolation Jones convinced
hundreds of people to commit suicide. The Peoples Temple religious movement was one of the
many going on during the 1970 s. During the 1970 s America hit rock bottom. The U.S. had lost
the Vietnam war, there was an oil crisis, and the automobile industry was going out of business
due to the foreign cars. The Vietnam war gave rise to many anti war protests and questioning of
the nation s role in the world. Many believed in pacifism and opposed of the U.S. involvement in
the war. The oil embargo that members of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries
proclaimed in 1973 led to oil shortages. Gas had to be rationed and prices increased drastically.
Japan and Germany were making better cars which caused U.S. automobile industries to go out of
business, many Americans lost their jobs.
The American population grew skeptical; they could not turn to the government during this time.
The Watergate scandal in the 1970s destroyed Americans trust with the government. They didn t
feel safe with their political leaders and did not feel taken care of. As always, when there is a

Civil Liberties, Habeas Corpus, and the War on Terror

Civil Liberties, Habeas Corpus, and the War on Terror have all played a role throughout history.
Throughout history, the motivation of man s self interest has concluded in the domination of those
with little or no power in the absence of the rule of law. The war on terror presents an
unpredictable challenge for the United States since terrorists are apprehended and deprived of due
process. Habeas corpus is considered to be one of the most fundamental guarantees of personal
liberty that we cherished as a country since the inception of our Constitution. However, debates
have arisen regarding the proper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a feature of common law, the right of Habeas corpus reflects the age old contest between
individual and the state. Habeas corpus empowers the individual in holding accountable the
exercise of the states power to influence liberty. Our founding fathers were well aware of the
Magna Carta, and its astonishing abilities to be something great especially James Madison who
was the primary architect of the American Bill of Rights. Greatly influenced by the potential of the
agreement, James Madison began his own interpretation. James Madison borrowed heavily from
Article 39 of the Magna Carta which limited the legislative power. Madison was a key player in
growing that particular article into the Bill of Rights. It was through Magna Carta and our founding
fathers interpretation of that article that the American courts used and still use today when
interpreting the rights of enemy combatants. (Halliday, 2011) September 24th 1862 Lincoln issued
a proclamation suspending the writs of Habeas corpus nationwide and specified whose rights
would be suspended. All traitors and rebel militias against the U.S. shall be subject to martial law
and liable to trial and punishment. (Longley, 2012) In 1866 after the American Civil War had ended
the Supreme Court officially and fully restored Habeas corpus throughout the entire nation. That

Examples Of America s Founding Fathers
Did you ever wonder how the United States founders envisioned America to be in the years to
come? America s founding fathers were tasked with the difficult challenge of finding a balance
between preserving individual rights and forming a strong, long lasting union. There are many
examples of how the founding fathers found a balance. Some examples of this are showcased in the
Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and A New American Nation.
A New American Nation shows that the founding fathers believed that there are certain rights that
an a person is created with. A New American Nation reports that Jefferson s eloquent and stirring
articulation of the natural law that would govern America proclaimed the idea that people are born
with rights and freedoms that government must protect . Thomas Jefferson s ideals would preserve
the rights of each person while they are located in the United States of America. Jefferson is able to
preserve the rights of the American people, by stating that some of the rights that are bestowed
towards citizens must be protected by their government. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Aerostats
Aerostats have some weaknesses, such as limited survivability, mobility and climbing altitude.
These properties make aerostats more disadvantageous than other manned or UAVs. On the other
hand, aerostats have many opportunities in the near future to improve upon these negative aspects,
such as, stronger composite material and sensor innovation. It is concluded that aerostats will be
used frequently as primary platforms in surveillance missions within homeland security.

Lying By Sissela Bok Summary
Book Review
There comes a time when a doctor, minister or politicians and an individual will tell a lie. It could
be a white lie or big lie; most people almost generally resort to lying in certain situation. Often times
a lawyer will lie in order to protect his client, or vice versa, a client will tell a lie in order to avoid
being incarnated. There are many situations an individual will be placed in, and at some point in
a person s life they will need to tell a lie. Is it appropriate to lie? This is what Sissela Bok writes
about in Lying: Moral choice in Public and Private Life. Bok acknowledges that despite numerous
religious and moral statements against lying, people will still lie in certain situations. She will

Bok analyzes the effects that lying has upon the society and individuals. In chapter XI, which
deals most directly with lawyers, she sited the code of professional responsibility in support of
this statement, in the adversary system of justice, truth is held to be more likely to emerges as a
result of the contest between opposing forces is the accused is both defended and prosecuted
zealously with the bounds of the law. In other words, Bok shows the social practice of truth
telling to have great value both generally and personally when dealing with clients, when you are
a lawyer. Throughout Sissela Bok writing, she continues to focus more emphasis on justification.
According to Bok, justification is the means by which a liar s distorted perspective can be
revealed. (Bok, 1999, p. 75) Bok suggests that reasonable person in general be considered the
audience in ethical matters. (Bok, 1999, p. 91) She mention early in her writing that justification
requires one to exercise the golden rule, sharing the perspective of those lied to as well as the
one benefiting from the lie. The last eight chapters she discuss justification in great detail and
clarification. In other words, often times in most situations a lie will backfire and cause harm to
an individual as well as the person who is telling the lie. She give example of kinds of lies that are
justified, such as lies in wartime and other crises, lies protecting

My first day at the club started in a shallow pool opposite a larger one. I already knew two people

The Pros And Cons Of Judicial Review
Judicial review does not serve the interest of the people. It serves the interest of the political
designer. The political designer is interested in maintaining power at all cost. When political actors
are in a society where only they are dominant they are not concerned with tactics to secure their
political views or to try prevent an opposing party from gaining too much power. Dominant parties
anticipate continued success while opposing political forces cannot confidently predict that either
party will be in power. In this sense It is preferred to limit the majority. This is the insurance model
of judicial review. By serving as an alternative forum in which to challenge government action,
judicial review provides a form of insurance to prospective... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The first is the access to the court. one can array access to the court on a spectrum from very
limited access, as in the original design of the Austrian model in 1920, in which only state and
federal governments could bring cases, to the present design of the German Constitutional
Court, where not only political bodies but individuals may enjoy direct access through
constitutional petitions and ordinary judges may refer questions as well. (Ginsburg, Pg. 36).
This is the most important factor of judicial review because without cases coming into a court
there will be no court. If a court does not have cases being brought to it, it will not be able to
expand in power. Judicial review has different effects in different societies. A good example is the
American courts. Stare Decisis allows old law to stay in place while new law if put in place and
followed. In a centralized system the court has the power to declare the laws unconstitutional and
immediately void. (Ginsburg, Pg 40). Courts also vary on appointment. Appointment is important
because electing who will interpret the text is beneficial if they are doing it in your favor. For
example, the Hungarian, American and Russian systems use cooperative appointment. The risk of
deadlock is present because of the need of cooperation. Some systems use term limits and renewals
as accountability mechanisms. This is a key component of judicial independence

Mandible s Skepticism
Most activities in life are equipped with instructions. For example, making sandwiches, tying shoes,
parallel parking, and writing letters. Ideally, those who follow instructions, successfully accomplish
their task, however, those who prefer an alternative way to complete the same task, can flourish as
well. Essentially, instructions are helpful, but not controlling. Both Donald Barthelme and Saul
Bellow, in Me and Miss Mandible and Henderson The Rain King, respectively, appear to challenge
this notion. In fact, they communicate that processes and guidelines are inflexible and unyielding,
which spells doom for those who abide by them. But, they also suggest that imagination is salvation
from such rigidity. Barthelme illustrates the inflexibility... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her skepticism should be recognized as freedom of thought or imagination; a willful cognitive
deviation from the knowable process presented to you. Amazingly, Henderson The Rain King,
employs this very challenge. Consider the inflexible process that requires King Dahfu to slay a
lion believed to be the reincarnation of his father. This unyielding process, which Dahfu abides
by, result in his death. Henderson, like Miss Mandible is skeptical of the process. Henderson even
admonishes King Dahfu multiple times to no avail. The Kingdom s process kills Dahfu, but
Henderson s imagination reincarnates him. Imagination, is also mentioned earlier: Imagination is
a force of nature. Is this not enough to make a person full of ectasy? Imagination, imagination,
imagination! It converts to actual. It sustains, it alters, it redeems! (271). Henderson soon
discovers a lion cub and names him Dahfu, thus although an unyielding process kills Dahfu
imagination redeems him. Henderson s noncompliance with the traditional process is underscored
by his refusal to accept the results of this process the death of Dahfu. Henderson s imagination
restores and redeems Dahfu. In a similar vein, Miss Mandible ultimately fornicating with the
narrator is her redemption. It is her rebuttal to the knowable process, which proudly declares that
her skepticism is right, the narrator is not a child, and the knowable process doesn t really know
all. Moreover, her act of rebellion against the unyielding school literally liberates her from the
school. Overall, what Bellow and Barthelme communicate is that inflexible and knowable
processes can be usurped, by a mind willing to reject

The Process Of Conducting Research
Procedure
The process of conducting research is to gather information that relates to your I search question.
The I search question that I am seeking answers to happens to be; what is the definition of family
in today s society? There are many methods of investigation that can be used to answer this question
, but I have limited it to eight methods. The eight methods I have chosen are going to give me in
depth information about my purposed I search question.
The first method of investigation for my I search project that would best help me gather
information for my project is interviewing both in person and by email. The interview process is
beneficial to my project because it gives me in depth and comprehensive information. The
interviews will consist of ordinary people in todays, society both younger and older the young will
be aged from four to thirty and old will consist of anyone over thirty. I am doing the interviews to
gain answers to my secondary questions which are based on gender and age. Also interviews
provide personal experiences and better understanding of the subject matter in this case family.
The second method of investigation will be scholarly journals. I am using journals because family
is a big topic to be covered and it has been discussed and written about over many years. Many
psychologists have written about what defines a family and how it has changed over time. These
Journals will help me show that the definition is outdated and how it should be

Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) the end of the tax heavens and the Banking
Secrecy, International cooperation or coercion?
The offshore tax evasion is a problem that most countries face mainly because there are many
structures that help sophisticated investors to avoid the payment of those taxes. After the 2008
global financial crisis, the United States was going through one of the most severe recession, the tax
evasion crisis and the growing budget deficit was at it highest point, in 2009 President Obama
stated during an interview I did not run for office to be helping out a bunch of, you know, fat cat
bankers on Wall Street, making very clear his position about the bailouts and the general about the
banking industry.
It has been estimated the United States losses approximately $345 billion in tax revenue each
year as a result of offshore tax abuse . One of the biggest scandals of offshore tax evasion was the
UBS, Switzerland s largest bank, in 2009. The Obama s Administration came up with new
approach in order to collect more revenue and try to tackle down the excessive offshore tax
evasion problems, so in March of 2010 as a part of the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment

Abstract: As gas prices raise the average automobile consumer demands a better, more fuel
efficient vehicle. This demand has forced manufacturers to begin producing hybrid vehicle; first
four door hybrid sedan was unveiled by Toyota in 2000. The Toyota Prius success encouraged it
competitors to roll out their hybrid cars as well setting a common standard for environmentally
friendly and efficient vehicles. The relationship of consumer and manufacturer in the car industry
on a macro level has always been one in relative equilibrium. As demand increases the car
manufacturers have increased supply. The green movement in the United States pushed for hybrid

Sales in 2005 of hybrid vehicles only 12.34% were purchased by individuals ages 30 39 and only

environmentally friendly and less gas consuming vehicles the more likely corporations are
going to spend time and energy devoted towards its research and development. Hybrid cars in
themselves have become more and more fuel efficient from a Prius bought in 2005 which
provided an EPA estimated 37.2 miles per gallon is in 2011 providing 42.7 miles per gallon.
With media attention car manufacturers are increasing what the vehicle can do and making them
more and more efficient. A major factor for individuals who are seeking to purchase a new
vehicle is the cost of gasoline which has risen almost 32% since January 2011. The chart below
indicates the trend of increasing gas prices. As prices increase demand inherently falls creating
room for alternative products to step in. 16% of Prius buyers stated that the primary reason for
buying the Prius was to save money on gas. (inflationdata.com). The fact that a meaningful number
of people can reasonably expect for their hybrid purchase to save them money is perhaps the most
important indicator for future hybrid

major that she talks about in the essay, and that is the struggles of African women, moreso
compared to that of a man s, the silver linings that the women found, and finally the unity of the
Africans through common languages and religion. For one thing, women struggled with obstacles,
that men could not even have. Women took a major role in childbirth, but the malnourished, and
overworked women were not in the best condition to have children. Regardless they had many,
and that mean a lot of the women and their children would die during birth. They had about three
children in their lifetime, and only two would survive. Additionally, the laws back then had no
care for the wellbeing of the women. This led to awful laws that actually benefitted the men who
would rape and seduce women. Additionally, all of the adjusting they had to do after their arrival
really took a toll on them. Once they came to America after their brutal transport through the
middle passage, they had to immediately be accustomed to a new language, climate, food, and
culture. Once she was sold to her master, a lot of her

Sikh Beliefs
Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Jesus Christ share teaching of hope and inspiration to their followers.
Sikh believe in God and that he is the creator of the universe and you must live a clean righteous
life in order to attain eternal life. Another similarity is Guru Nanak Dev Ji left with God for three
days. While spending that time with God he learned his laws and what it takes to have eternal life.
After having spiritual enlighten he went out spread the message about God and having purpose for
your life.
Upon further research of the Sikh religion I learned many things it have different in Christianity.

Sikh is a religion that stated in India and have grown to other nations and even landed in America. I

the opportunity ever presented itself you would sound very knowledgeable when having

I like the Sikh concept of believing in God. I also like the fact of God believing in one creator of
heaven and earth. Living right to serve him and to due justice for humanity. The only issue in this
religion is the notion not believing in Christ Jesus. Growing up Pentecostal I have strong belief in

The Importance Of Art
Art is all around us, it s everywhere you go: cartoons, buildings, photography, even the
architecture of streets and sidewalks. There are many forms of art, and it doesn t have to be just
drawing or painting, it can also be singing, acting, poetry, fashion, etc. All of these talents are an
embodiment of expression, it allows individuals to explore their creativity and enhances their
learning abilities. Without art everything would be black and white, there would be no substance.
In today s age, not many people notice or appreciate any type of artwork. As an artistand an actress,
creativity has always been my strong suit. When I m on stage or drawing it s like I m telling a

Individuals who experience trauma or loss had an impact on their artistic thinking, for example,
Frida Kahlo. John Lennon. Paul McCartney. Truman Capote. Robin Williams. Jerry Garcia, some
of the most revered creative minds in modern history have experienced major trauma.
Psychologists call this phenomenon post traumatic growth. When an individual experiences a
major loss, the brain explores its own creative escape as part of rebuilding themselves, especially
as our perspectives, priorities, and ways of thinking shift around. Post traumatic growth has been
explored in hundreds of scientific studies, including a 2004 study in the Journal of Traumatic Stress
showing that 70% of survivors experienced some kind of positive psychological change after a
traumatic experience.
Art is extremely helpful with teen development. Since teenagers minds and emotions are so
complex it is hard for them to express it directly to others. Adolescents go through times where
they don t feel accepted. Art is the ultimate form of expression which is why some teens who have
a creative mind are able to revert to their talent, it could be through music, clothing, photography,
painting, etc. Art can be therapeutic to those who are capable of tapping into their creative side, it
could be the solution to their problem if they are able to understand the purpose of art. The

People start to assume that every animal that gains weight quickly are being pumped full of
antibiotics or steroids. From personally living on a farm I see no problem with antibiotics being
used for animals. I have had personal experience with most of the livestock and dairy animals. I
have lived on a farm for 16 years and antibiotics are not the first thing farmers want for their
animals. When we had dairy cattle we gave vaccines, but tried to avoid giving any other
medicines to them. When we had to give medicine it meant our animal was sick or had a disease.
Also when you give medicine to dairy cattle you aren t aloud to keep the milk for seven days
because of the antibiotics that would be in the milk. So theoretically you wanted to keep
medicine out of your livestock s body so you didn t have to stop producing the product. Then
later we got rid of the dairy cattle and went into a cow calve farm for meat purposes. Our cattle
did not get fed food with a bunch of antibiotics in it. Only medicated feed we fed them was
mineral that helped keep flies off their body so they would not get pink eye. Pink eye if not caught

The Core Values Of Courage
Every society has a deep seated web of beliefs, these beliefs are also known as core values. These
core values help keep society in a collaboration if all the individuals involved believe in the same
common core values. These core values dictate rules and help individuals distinguish what is right
or wrong. In the eyes of a college English class, honesty, courage, empathy, integrity and
perseverance are tightly woven into the classes web of beliefs. Courage itself doesn t dictate what
is right from wrong, courage is as fierce as a doubled edged sword, one side contrasting the other;
but it is up to the individual to determine its use.
What is courage? The original Middle English meaning of the word courage was To speak one s
mind by telling all one s heart. Over time the word courage has evolved, and society now views
the word courage very differently than it did a few hundred years ago. According to the Merriam
Webster Dictionary, the definition of courage is defined as, mental or moral strength to venture,
persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. This definition can be further broken down for

The Pros And Cons Of The Internet
World Wide Web a phrase that has revolutionized our period of time; without the internet there
would be no place where we would get to watch videos, look at images of cats, and most
importantly cry on the stylish clothes that one may never get. Many individuals tend to stay at
home on this phenomenon for more than eight hours straight, visiting numerous of sites. However,
imagine those services being on one platform which means everything one enjoys doing on
multiple websites: watching movies/videos, viewing images, or buying clothes. Amazon, a
multimillionaire private company, happens to solidify this imagination. The corporation believes
the internet is evolving towards a greater good of every individual doing everything online; mainly
shopping. They believe technology has made it easier for many people to access an online store

Monopoly to zebras skin clothing. Crazy items? Well, Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of Amazon,

as child care. When a family that is immigrated from a foreign country for say, need to be

Wow, that movie was such an eye opener! I had no idea what Afghan culture was about, let alone

guess. What did you like the best Jack?,
The relationship between Amir and Hassan. It s so different from any relationship I ve

Hassan, a Hazara, is beneath him. Amir never learns to assert himself against anyone else because
Hassan always defends him. I think these factors play into his childhood cowardice of sacrificing
Hassan. Hassan however remains loyal, forgiving, and good natured, replied Jack. So what do you
think of their friendship?
Well I think Hassan and Amir were brothers from the start, before their relationship decayed after
Hassan was raped. Foster uses the pomegranate tree symbolizes the friendship. Amir even carves

they are as close as brothers. Then After Hassan s rape, Amir throws pomegranates at Hassan

A relationship between a son and his father is difficult to maintain when the sons father and mother

story is shown in this quote ...and at some point he saw her watching them, leaning against the
kitchen counter in her bathrobe, and when he looked at her she shook her head and looked away
and at that moment he thought, maybe maybe he could make this right. In this part of the story he
is about to get his son and when he thinks that he could make it right this time, the reader gets an
impact that he had done it wrong in the past. So we have a father who have been on astray and are

Dicore Case Study
1. External Analysis
In order to understand the environment of the mining industry and evaluate Dicore s competitors
and customers, this chapter will adopt some tools, such as PESTEL and Porter s five forces, to
analyze the external environment of Dicore International.
2.1. PESTEL Analysis
The PESTEL framework is often used to analyze the broad macro environment of an organization
(Johnson et al, 2014). Thus, it is used in this chapter to identify how the trend of drilling industry
can be affected by the political, economical, social, technological, ecological and legal factors.
2.2.1. Political Factors

the damage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, drilling sites are always located in inaccessible areas that cannot provide a
comfortable working condition. Therefore, it could contribute to a lower level of operational
productivity.
2.2.4. Technological Factors
The overall mining industry profits declining in 2013 came along with the declining of investment,
which may lead to a lack of funds in research and development in the mining industry, and slow
down the innovation process of drilling equipment to achieve faster and more accurate drilling.
Besides, better equipment can also address the issue raised by the bonus pay which often results in
damaging equipment or mineral.
2.2.5. Ecological Factors
The environmental regulations could impose the operating expenses of drilling, particularly in the
southwestern region. To be more specific, the drilling company has to take full responsibility to
reverse any damage that it may cause to the environment.
2.2.6. Legal Factors
More than one licence is required for a company to offer a full range of drilling services in
southwestern region. This may be a slow and complex process and may influence the company s
performance to some extent. Yet it is still much more stable than the rest of the factors that might
change the macro environment.
2.2. Porter s Five Forces Analysis

Prevention And Treatment Of Periodontal Disease
Introduction
Periodontal disease is one of the most common chronic inflammatory diseases and is also the
second most frequent cause of tooth loss among adults. The toxins produced by bacteria stimulate
an inflammatory response in which the body turns upon itself and results in the supporting tissues
of the teeth being progressively destroyed. Periodontal disease is multifactorial and susceptibility is
dependent on the composition of individual s microflora together with specific local and systemic
risk factors. Local risk factors include any plaque retentive features which hinders plaque removal
such as crowding, calculus, overhangs and orthodontic appliance. Systemic risk factors include
diabetes, genetic and smoking. Smoking is an important risk factor for the initiation and
progression of periodontal diseases and a number of researches have demonstrated the detrimental
effect of smoking on patient s periodontal status as well as their response to periodontal treatment.
Content of cigarette
Smoking has widespread systemic effects as it contains over 4000 toxic chemicals including
Benzene, Formaldehyde and Ammonia. Benzene is a solvent used in making fuel, Formaldehyde is
used to preserve dead bodies and Ammonia can be found in cleaning fluids. There are also potent
carcinogens such as Nitrosamines and Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The component of
inhaled smoke includes nicotine, carbon monoxide and tar. Nicotine has numerous effects such as

Qing made slight changes to Ming culture when they conquered China in 1644. Allowing for more

To stay united as one the Qing Dynasty adopted the Ming Dynasty political system in order for

Water Vs Tap Water
Water is colorless, transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid that forms the sea, lakes, rivers, and rain
and is the basis of fluids of living organisms. The source of water is from meteorites that are still

criminal behavior in children based on personal characteristics, demographic factors, generational
factors, and/or abuse problems. The use of a neural network could be used in an effort to make
these predictions with science and technology. A neural network is a type of artificial intelligence
system used to make predictions based on a wide variety of information and patterns (Haag, S.,
Cummings, M. 2013). The ability to be able to predict potential criminal behavior in children can
possibly be thwarted with education and behavioral adjustments. Criminal behavior can be detected
in children as young as 6 (Lowry, 2013). Parole boards use... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One of the main factors for criminal activity based on demographics is race, age, and sex. There
have been studies linking young males who are members of disadvantaged minorities are at
higher risks of criminal activity (South Messner, 2000). In poor neighborhoods children are more
likely to become involved with gangs in order to belong and have a purpose. Poverty is reality for
approximately 16 million children in the United States and these communities are subject to higher
crime rates (Kearney Harris, 2016). Technology has introduced using artificial intelligence to
help predict criminal behavior in people based on algorithms. This technology would be a type
of neural network to gather data from children and parents to try to predict criminal behavior
before a child turns 18. Richard Berk, from the University of Pennsylvania, is currently working
on a system to teach computers to identify patterns to make predictions (McGorrery Gilmore,
2016). Between January 2007 and October 2011, Richard Berk and Susan B. Sorenson, a
professor of social policy in Penn s School of Social Policy Practice, obtained data from 28,000
domestic violence arraignments to teach the computer the type of people most likely to reoffend.
Berk said, In all kinds of settings, having the computer figure this out is better than having us figure
it out, (Berger, 2016). Berk stated there are fewer flaws using the algorithms compared to current

Examples Of Identity Ethics In A Cyborg Manifesto
Identity Ethics in a Cyborg Manifesto A Cyborg Manifesto is a ВґblasphemousВґ critique of
feminism written by Haraway at a time when unfettered patriarchal capitalism was taking new
forms enabled by emerged technological developments during the 1980s. She warns of scary new
networks (Haraway 1990, p.203) that are emerging; new systems of domination that will replace
traditional hegemonic structures of power. She foresees aВґВґsystem of world order analogous in
its novelty and scope to that created by industrial capitalism, (Ibid) that will emerge through
technological progress. She terms these new systems ВґВґthe informatics of dominationВґВґ(Ibid)
However, Haraway offers cause for hope; within the new technologies feminists can find potential...

The emphasis on identity politics, she argues, reproduces the dualisms and creates fragmented
subjectivities. These maintain the boundaries, creating factional politics as opposed to affinity and
solidarity between feminist activists. Thus the transgressory potential of the cyborg form is
proposed to create unity within feminist movements, transgressing the dualisms that identity
politics themselves create. Haraway writes an imaginative resource suggesting some very fruitful
couplings. (Haraway 1990, p.191) The cyborg emerges within her text as both a metaphor for a
postmodern identity, but also a lived reality that is the product of the new technological forms. It
embodies an oppositional consciousness that is exempt from dualisms, capable of confrontation
with the new forms of

Kimbell Art Museum
My art tour and review took place at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. I went with my
fiancГ©e to the permanent collection exhibit and walked around viewing the numerous sculptures
and paintings. The permanent collection contains sculptures from both contemporary and ancient
times, icon paintings, portraits and self portraits, and landscapes. Some specific examples include
Nude Combing Her Hair by Pablo Picasso, Portrait of Hendrik III, Count of Nassau Breda by
Mabuse (Jan Gossart), a statue called Woman Addressing the Public by Joan Miro that sits just
outside the museum to welcome people coming to the museum, and a Reliquary Arm (unknown
designer from 12th century). I m not sure I can pinpoint an overall theme for the exhibition,... Show

My first selection is the Rough Sea at a Jetty. The reason I chose this piece is because of the
colors and drawing techniques used, as well as the balance of the overall piece. The piece is a
dark hued painting (oil on canvas) made in the 1650s, depicting a very stormy sea with small
sailboats in the background. The foreground consists of two men standing on a jetty that has a
pole like wooden structure standing on it; the two men appear to be conversing, probably about
the storm. The painting is asymmetrical because if you cut it down the middle vertically then
one side would have the wooden pole, most of the jetty and the two men in it, while the other
side would have virtually nothing except some distant (almost obscure) sailboats, part of the jetty
and a distant smaller jetty. The painting is unified by its theme: A stormy sea by a jetty. The
waves are painted so as to show them crashing into one another by painting the caps white and
using bold curves to emphasize the choppiness of the sea. The dark clouds in the background are a
testament to the severity of the storm. The emphasis is on the jetty and men in the foreground.
There are also about four sailboats positioned across the piece in the background to contrast against
the dark grey sky and grey

The Importance Of Western Imperialism In China
Western imperialism in China was very significant, costed the lives of millions of people, but also
helped shape China into a much stronger country than it was before, being ruled by the Qing
Dynasty. Imperialism is a country extending its power and influence through the use of military
force. There were two wars between the imperialists and China, the first and second Opium wars.
The result of these wars was the weakening of the Qing Dynastyand led to a time of rebuilding,
which was a great struggle, for China. The Europeans wanted to trade with China because of the
great opportunity that they saw in the market. China s population, which was 430 million, was
seen as a fast and easy way for the Europeans to make a lot of money. The... Show more content on

China was weakened and by this period in time, had become dependent on the Europeans, which
now controlled them.
The Chinese were able to learn from their mistakes from the past and turn them into positives in
order to better improve their economy for the future. With the opened ports and foreigners free to
visit China, the educated citizens class was increasing in numbers. Many of these people were not
happy with the progress of the Qing Dynasty and started to form groups in order to help find
alternatives to certain situations. By 1912 the last Chinese emperor stepped down and the order
that had ruled over China for two thousand years had finally fallen. This was a new start for the
China. The rebuilding of China was very difficult, but using what they had learned, China was able
to modernize themselves in many aspects, including military, improve their economy, and overall
developed themselves into a superior country.
The British wanted to do business with China after seeing the market potential because of the
population, as well as the significant growth in the past two centuries. China s population increased
by 330 million people less than two centuries. The agricultural production in China was not able to
keep up with the rapid increase in population. The British saw opportunity in this and believed that
they could generate a great amount of money from the market. China s refusal to trade with the

Descriptive Essay On The Creperie
A chalkboard caught my eye as a I strolled down the streets of Old Town Flagstaff. Scribbled in
an array of colors was a quote by Nelson Mandela No one is born hating another person because
of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they
can learn to hate, then they can be taught to love. For love comes more naturally to the human
heart than its opposite . It was sat in front of a little alcove of an eatery called The Creperie.
Seeing the establishment transported me back to the summer of my freshman year when I went to
Paris with my family and enjoyed artisan crepes in a little cafe near the Seine river. My stomach
immediately began to grumble just thinking about those crepes, and I decided then that I would try
out The Creperie. However, the service, food, and ambiance would need to be superb in order to
match the level of the authentic French cuisinethat I ve enjoyed. When I walked through the door,
moreso opening in the brick wall, of The Creperie, I was greeted with a warm smile by a middle
aged Hispanic woman. She asked me about my day, my studies at college, and how I enjoyed
living in Flagstaff. Though this may come across to most as normal niceties, she seemed to be
genuinely interested in what I had to say. Not being familiar with the menu items, I asked her
which dessert crepe she preferred. This was met with her giving me different options for different
taste preferences Nutty Nana for those who enjoy

Write An Essay On Pia And Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are a serious mental illness, not a choice or lifestyle preference. Everyone has
their daily battles and life struggles, some more distressing than others and some severe, like Pica
disorder. Pica is an eating disorder when people have an abnormal appetite and consume
nonnutritive substances including dirt, stones, hair, feces, lead, light bulbs, and much more.
Because individuals suffering with Pica are driven to eat unconceivable things, this disorder
commonly leads to many medical issues. Many doctors believe Pica to be a derivative of some
mental ailment but there are other factors that can lead to this disorder. Thus, Pica disorder is
caused by a combination of psychological, environmental, and biochemical factors. There are many
health risks and complications related to Pica because people with this... Show more content on

However, it is likely to be more difficult to manage in children who are developmentally hindered
and is the most prevalent eating disorder in people with developmental disabilities. Unfortunately,
pica is often unrecognized and underreported in the United States and its correct prevalence and
etiology is unknown. There is no specific way to prevent pica. However, careful attention to eating
habits and close guidance of children known to put things in their mouths may help catch the
disorder before complications can occur. Currently, there are no medical treatments specifically for
Pica but behavioral strategies are considered the most effected treatment. Multidisciplinary methods
with physicians, psychologists, and social workers are suggested for successful treatment. Some
behavioral strategies include sensory reinforcement, antecedent manipulation, overcorrection,
differential reinforcement of other or incompatible behaviors, self protection devices that prohibit
placement of objects in the mouth, and training in discrimination between edible and nonedible

Prejudice In The Holocaust
The Holocaust is a prime example of prejudice taken to a catastrophic level. It was a large scale
event almost unparalleled to that of any other in terms of people killed and atrocities committed.
Violence against Jews and their properties were both commonplace and promoted, and anti
Semitism among Nazis and their associates ran rampant. By unlawfully persecuting a particular
race through state sponsored government support, racism flourished and led the way to a rise of an
apocalyptic genocide.
With authorization from the Nazi party allocated to its soldiers, troops confiscated Jewish property,
pillaged numerous synagogues and stores, and murdered Jews in a short period of time. Reliable
assistance to the suffering Jews was hard to find because of the Nazis brainwashing of the nation
through abundant propaganda. This kind of widespread discrimination inhibited the Jewish people
s ability to speak out against this obvious prejudice. While these attacks were just the tip of the
iceberg in comparison to later deeds committed by the Nazis, they were still fundamental to the
eventual extermination of the Jewish race. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Islamic State, also known as ISIS of ISIL, has continued to arouse much untold terror
throughout the Middle East region for more than four years, since 2011. The recent violence there
underscores the seriousness of the issue and the urgency of those people living in the refugee
camps. These refugees migrated to these camps to escape the militants attack on their homes and
properties. The victims to much destruction and hardship, these Syrians will not be returning to
their native homeland any time soon, and they can only hope that a genocidal tragedy like the
Holocaust will never blossom in

  • 2. How Is Media Inherently Bias Media is not inherently bias, however different viewpoints, goals and opinions cause media sources to be biased. Even though the press is supposed to be impartial and provide truthful information to the people, emotions, and opinions cause journalists to manipulate the content the press produces. This leads to a multitude of alternate biases. For example, some media sources are biased in the favor of Republicans and others in the favor of Democrats. Many are also independent and have a set of views and beliefs all their own. Media biases also vary in intensity. Some sources may attempt to seem neutral, but possess an underlying biasto a certain side. Others, on the other hand, may thrive on criticizing and denouncing an opposing side. Technically,... Even though some news is impartial, people have different biases and many media organizations attempt to appeal to that bias through gatekeeping and agenda setting. This allows people to congregate with others with the same views and create an atmosphere that ignores people who do not have the same biases. Consequently, people become polarized and oblivious to the people on the opposite side of the ideological spectrum. • 3. The Innumerable Meanings of Moby Dick Essay The Innumerable Meanings of Moby Dick Call me Ishmael. The first line of this story begins with an assertion of self identity. Before the second page is reached, it becomes quite clear to me that within this assertion of self identity lay an enticing universality. Ishmael represents every man somehow and no man entirely. He is an individual in his own right, while personifying a basic human desire for something more, something extraordinary. As his name implies, he is an outcast from a great family (p.18). Although we all share Ishmael s yearning for adventure (however deeply hidden it may be), to throw aside our civilization (despite its discontents ) could mean societal suicide. When our world becomes too restrictive and society s dictates threaten to overwhelm him, rather than lashing out at his fellow landlocked prisoners he quietly takes the ship (p. 18). And for those too apprehensive to leave the safety and steadiness of land, Ishmael recounts his adventure so that others can vicariously experience his freedom. Here we have come across one of the many wonders of story telling: Stories allow us to see things we might not have the audacity to see ourselves and to become things well beyond our own perceived potential. And so we turn to stories to fill our voids, to quench the fires of our hopes and dreams, to calm our restless spirits. We might choose security rather than spontaneity and comfort rather than jeopardy, but we are able to do so and remain sane only with promise of participation in something outside of ourselves. Through our relationships to the boundless expanse inherent in the telling of stories, the great flood gates of the wonder world swing open (p. 20). The story of Moby Dick is particularly compelling, as it presents us with the ungraspable phantom of life and then subsequently offers us the key to it all (p. 20). Through a first person narrative dictating a story intrinsically linked to the universality of human restlessness, Melville offers each of us a window of reprieve. We may choose to take it as an important life lesson and throw caution and practicality to the wind in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If a court does not have cases being brought to it, it will not be able to expand in power. Judicial review has different effects in different societies. A good example is the American courts. Stare Decisis allows old law to stay in place while new law if put in place and followed. In a centralized system the court has the power to declare the laws unconstitutional and immediately void. Post traumatic growth has been explored in hundreds of scientific studies, including a 2004 study in the Journal of Traumatic Stress showing that 70% of survivors experienced some kind of positive psychological change after a traumatic experience. Art is extremely helpful with teen development. Since teenagers minds and emotions are so complex it is hard for them to express it directly to others. Adolescents go through times where they don t feel accepted. Art is the ultimate form of expression which is why some teens who have a creative mind are able to revert to their talent, it could be through music, clothing, photography, painting, etc. Art can be therapeutic to those who are capable of tapping into their creative side, it could be the solution to their problem if they are able to understand the purpose of art. From personally living on a farm I see no problem with antibiotics being used for animals. I have had personal experience with most of the livestock and dairy animals. I have lived on a farm for 16 years and antibiotics are not the first thing farmers want for their animals. When we had dairy cattle we gave vaccines, but tried to avoid giving any other medicines to them. When we had to give medicine it meant our animal was sick or had a disease. Also when you give medicine to dairy cattle you aren t aloud to keep the milk for seven days because of the antibiotics that would be in the milk. So theoretically you wanted to keep medicine out of your livestock s body so you didn t have to stop producing the product. Then later we got rid of the dairy cattle and went into a cow calve farm for meat purposes. Our cattle did not get fed food with a bunch of antibiotics in it. Only medicated feed we fed them was mineral that helped keep flies off their body so they would not get pink eye. In the eyes of a college English class, honesty, courage, empathy, integrity and perseverance are tightly woven into the classes web of beliefs. Courage itself doesn t dictate what is right from wrong, courage is as fierce as a doubled edged sword, one side contrasting the other; but it is up to the individual to determine its use. Ecological Factors The environmental regulations could impose the operating expenses of drilling, particularly in the southwestern region. To be more specific, the drilling company has to take full responsibility to reverse any damage that it may cause to the environment. 2.2.6. The foreground consists of two men standing on a jetty that has a pole like wooden structure standing on it; the two men appear to be conversing, probably about the storm. The painting is asymmetrical because if you cut it down the middle vertically then one side would have the wooden pole, most of the jetty and the two men in it, while the other side would have virtually nothing except some distant (almost obscure) sailboats, part of the jetty and a distant smaller jetty. The painting is unified by its theme: A stormy sea by a jetty. The waves are painted so as to show them crashing into one another by painting the caps white and using bold curves to emphasize the choppiness of the sea. The dark clouds in the background are a testament to the severity of the storm. The emphasis is on the jetty and men in the foreground. There are also about four sailboats positioned across the piece in the background to contrast against the dark grey sky and grey ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Imperialism is a country extending its power and influence through the use of military force. There were two wars between the imperialists and China, the first and second Opium wars. The result of these wars was the weakening of the Qing Dynastyand led to a time of rebuilding, which was a great struggle, for China. China was weakened and by this period in time, had become dependent on the Europeans, which now controlled them. The Chinese were able to learn from their mistakes from the past and turn them into positives in order to better improve their economy for the future. With the opened ports and foreigners free to visit China, the educated citizens class was increasing in numbers. Many of these people were not happy with the progress of the Qing Dynasty and started to form groups in order to help find alternatives to certain situations. By 1912 the last Chinese emperor stepped down and the order that had ruled over China for two thousand years had finally fallen. This was a new start for the China. The rebuilding of China was very difficult, but using what they had learned, China was able to modernize themselves in many aspects, including military, improve their economy, and overall developed themselves into a superior country. • 43. Descriptive Essay On The Creperie A chalkboard caught my eye as a I strolled down the streets of Old Town Flagstaff. Scribbled in an array of colors was a quote by Nelson Mandela No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, then they can be taught to love. For love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite . It was sat in front of a little alcove of an eatery called The Creperie. Seeing the establishment transported me back to the summer of my freshman year when I went to Paris with my family and enjoyed artisan crepes in a little cafe near the Seine river. My stomach immediately began to grumble just thinking about those crepes, and I decided then that I would try out The Creperie. However, the service, food, and ambiance would need to be superb in order to match the level of the authentic French cuisinethat I ve enjoyed. When I walked through the door, moreso opening in the brick wall, of The Creperie, I was greeted with a warm smile by a middle aged Hispanic woman. She asked me about my day, my studies at college, and how I enjoyed living in Flagstaff. Though this may come across to most as normal niceties, she seemed to be genuinely interested in what I had to say. Not being familiar with the menu items, I asked her which dessert crepe she preferred. This was met with her giving me different options for different taste preferences Nutty Nana for those who enjoy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, it is likely to be more difficult to manage in children who are developmentally hindered and is the most prevalent eating disorder in people with developmental disabilities. Unfortunately, pica is often unrecognized and underreported in the United States and its correct prevalence and etiology is unknown. There is no specific way to prevent pica. However, careful attention to eating habits and close guidance of children known to put things in their mouths may help catch the disorder before complications can occur. Currently, there are no medical treatments specifically for Pica but behavioral strategies are considered the most effected treatment. Multidisciplinary methods with physicians, psychologists, and social workers are suggested for successful treatment. Some behavioral strategies include sensory reinforcement, antecedent manipulation, overcorrection, differential reinforcement of other or incompatible behaviors, self protection devices that prohibit placement of objects in the mouth, and training in discrimination between edible and nonedible ... • 45. Prejudice In The Holocaust The Holocaust is a prime example of prejudice taken to a catastrophic level. It was a large scale event almost unparalleled to that of any other in terms of people killed and atrocities committed. Violence against Jews and their properties were both commonplace and promoted, and anti Semitism among Nazis and their associates ran rampant. By unlawfully persecuting a particular race through state sponsored government support, racism flourished and led the way to a rise of an apocalyptic genocide. With authorization from the Nazi party allocated to its soldiers, troops confiscated Jewish property, pillaged numerous synagogues and stores, and murdered Jews in a short period of time. Reliable assistance to the suffering Jews was hard to find because of the Nazis brainwashing of the nation through abundant propaganda. This kind of widespread discrimination inhibited the Jewish people s ability to speak out against this obvious prejudice. While these attacks were just the tip of the iceberg in comparison to later deeds committed by the Nazis, they were still fundamental to the eventual extermination of the Jewish race. ...
