Slaughterhouse Five Analysis
The Nonsense of war
Slaughterhouse Five written by Kurt Vonnegut is a book about Billy Pilgrim s experience
throughout World War 2 (WW2). The author uses many key phrase s throughout the book but one
that caught the readers attention was when the author puts a bird saying Poo tee weet (Vonnegut,
19) in the novel. This quote is one of the smallest but holds the grandest meaning. Kurt Vonnegut
uses many phrases in his story to prove a point and drive in the fact that the story is an anti war
novel, but the best phrase he used to make this point was Poo tee weet . The author foreshadows
what is going to happen throughout the whole book by saying And what do the birds say? All
there is to say about a massacre, things like Poo tee weet? (19). ... Show more content on

To the birds the bombing was just another thing that happened in their lifetime, they keep
chirping as if nothing had happened, and in such a way that it shows they were unaffected by
the events that just unraveled around them. This is much like the Tralfamadorians who don t
believe in free will because, they have the knowledge of fourth dimensions and see that all
pieces of time have already been laid out and are repeating. With this knowledge the
Tralfamadorians aren t going to be surprised or impacted by the bombings and war because they
have already seen it happen a multitude of times. This could greatly improve the impact of an anti
war novel because it symbolizes the folly of man. It shows that humans as a whole know that war
is a senseless act that doesn t accomplish anything, and only causes sadness and death, but instead
of learning from are mistakes in the past, and figuring out new ways to solve conflicts between
countries, we continued to fight wars with no end. After World War 1(WW1) author Ernest
Hemingway called the generation that came to age during WW1 The Lost Generation , because of
the astonishing 35 Million casualties (ww1facts.net, 1) that were lost during the war. With
casualties this high it would make sense to figure out a different way to settle disagreements

Life Changing Experiences Of Change In My Life
There are hundreds of experiences that have had some sort of impact on my life. Some are very
small and some are much more life altering. Although, these life changing events do not happen
often, they happen to everyone. I have had a few major, life changing occurrences in my
lifetime, some are good and some are not so good. One of them that stands out the most to me
and has impacted me the greatest is something everyone experiences at some point in their lives.
For me, it was on October 20th, 2015, when I was 13 years old, the day my first dog Lucky died.
Lucky was a little Jack Russell Terrier that my mom and dad had bought when he was only a few
months old. They had adopted him in Belgium, about a year before I was born. Lucky had been...

I texted my mom during lunch asking how it went. She said that she would tell me later. That
was the first warning sign, but I just brushed it off. When my mom picked me, I immediately
asked was how Lucky was. My mom was acting much different than usual, she was very quiet.
She told me that the vet said Lucky had kidney disease and all they could do is give him pain
medicine and try to keep him alive until that weekend when my dad got home on Friday. My
first reaction was denial. All I could think was, surely a dog that I had loved so much all my life
could not die. I refused to believe the truth, I spent the entire evening looking up kidney disease,
trying to find a solution that did not exist. I refused to eat or leave Lucky s side. I knew his
health had been declining, but I kept telling myself Lucky will get better. The issue was, I was
only denying the inevitable. The next day was the hardest of my life. At school, I could not
focus, all I could do was think about Lucky. That night, I had to cheer at a game about an hour
away. At first I was not sure if I wanted to go, but my friends convinced me it would be good to
get my mind of Lucky for a little bit. Around the middle of the first quarter I saw my little brother
show up with one of his friends. I immediately knew something was very wrong, why would my
brother come to an away game, especially so far away without my mom, I knew my mom did not
have anything going on that night. Somehow I

Achieved Statuses In Sports
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz! I roll over and shut off my alarm. My body aches from the lack of sleep and
yesterday s workout. I threw on my gym clothes and headed out the door. There was work to be
done. Almost everyone belongs to some particular group and claims an achieved status. An
achieved status is a status that is earned or chose. One of my achieved statuses is baseball. Being
on the baseball team, or any club in that matter, requires a big time commitment and a lot is
expected. My role or what is expected of me is weights, and keeping the required skills for
baseball throughout the Fall and Winter are required. When the season rolls around, my coach
expects that I make the routine plays and hit the ball hard the entire length of the season. My
role performance or the things I actually do for this role are both strength and baseball workouts
to keep in shape during the off season. I do my best to hit the ball and make the routine plays but
baseball is a game of failure and things do not always work out. I have also experienced role
conflict in baseball. Role conflict is when a person is supposed to play two incompatible roles. Our

An ascribed status is a status that is already given or one that is already had. One of my ascribed
statuses is being a brother. I had no control over spending my life with my sister Raigan. It was
between my parents and God. Being a brother comes with great responsibility. I am expected to
keep her safe and away from boys. Also, I have to be there for her when she needs to talk and it is
too private and girly for my parents ears. I perform my role by having long talks with her when
she needs them and I do not get my parents involved. Also, being in high school, stuff spreads like a
wildfire and eventually everyone finds out. My sister is getting more involved with dating and
boys and I have to try and find the perfect balance between protecting her and letting her have high

My book report was on “Esperanza Rising” by Pam Muñoz...
My book report was on Esperanza Rising by Pam MuГ±oz Ryan. The genre of this book is
Historical Fiction. The publisher is Scholastic. It has a total of 253 pages plus the author s notes.
Esperanza Rising was published in the year of 2000. Some unusual facts about this book was that
it had some Spanish words in it but English after so you know what it means. This book is a Pure
Belpre Award winning book. The Pure Belpre Award means excellent portrayal of Latino
experience in children s literature. I chose this book to read because the author seemed familiar and
the cover of the book really caught my attention including the title.
The novel starts out with the main character and protagonist, Esperanza, the spoiled six year old
little girl ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other main character would be Miguel. He s the son of Alfonso and Hortensia, who both
work for Esperanza s family as their servants. They both grew up together on the ranch as kids.
The major conflict in this story starts when a group of bandits captures her papa and kill him
and his two evil greedy stepbrothers take over the land and tries to make mama marry Tio Luis.
When she disagrees, they do everything in their power to make their life difficult. So as the story
unfolds, she ends up marrying him. But they come up with a plan to cross the border and go to
the United States so they can work and get money, and most importantly get away from the
horrible life in Mexico because of the stepbrothers. They all go to California except Abuelita
because she wasn t feeling well to get a better opportunity in advance.
The plot starts out with Esperanza and her papa spending time together. He tells her that the earth
is alive and if you listen closely, you can hear its heartbeat. Esperanza was impatient though. But
he tells her you have to stay still and be quiet. Papa tells her wait a little while and the fruit will
fall into your hand. This was the main theme of the story because it means when you wait,
something good will come. After that she hears it and gets happy. As you read the book, the saying
gets repeated. The rising action of the book would be when papa got murdered by the bandits. The
conflict resolution would

Virginia Hamilton I never thought seriously of any other career 1, Virginia Hamilton said,
speaking of being an author. Virginia Hamilton is a very talented African American Children s
author. She was born on March 12, 1936 in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Her Mother had lived in
Yellow Springs since the late 1850 s. Virginia Hamilton said that she loves Yellow Springs. I live

The Small family finds out that the house had a century old legend, where two fugitive slaves,
trying to escape, had been killed by bounty hunters. Also killed, was Dies Drear, the abolitionist
who had made the house into a station of the Underground Railroad. The ghosts are still said to
walk the rooms of Drear House. When they get to their house, they meet new people like the
Darrow s and the scary land lord, Mr. Pluto, who Thomas thinks is the devil. While they were
living in Drear House, it was obvious some one did not want them to be there. They got many
threats and damage to their house. In the end, Thomas and his Father stumble into Mr. Pluto s
underground lair. Mr. Pluto s son is there, and they explain how the Darrow s are trying to take
over the treasure Mr. Pluto had. So, Thomas, his Father, Mr. Pluto, Mr. Pluto s son, and some of
their friends scared the Darrow s away by dressing up as ghost slaves. This story teaches the
reader a lot about slavery and the Underground Railroad, while also having an entertaining
fictional plot. Virginia Hamilton says, of her book, I needed to know how men, women and
children could travel hundreds of miles on foot through enemy land. I found out that they were
brave beyond belief. Perhaps with this book I have at last touched them the way they first touched

[pic] ZigBee Wireless Mesh Networking for Monitoring Control What is ZigBee? ZigBee is a
consortium of software, hardware and services companies that have developed a common standard
for wireless networking of sensors and controllers. While other wireless standards are concerned
with exchanging large amounts of data, ZigBee is for devices that have smaller throughput needs.
The other driving factors are low cost, high reliability, high security, low battery usage, simplicity
and interoperability with other ZigBee devices. ZigBee can be used in commercial applications
such as building maintenance for monitoring and controlling lights, Heating, Ventilation and Air
Conditioning (HVAC), smoke alarms, fire... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If one device should fail, the path is automatically rerouted through other nodes on the network.
In this way the networks become self healing . ZigBee uses 128 bit AES encryption algorithms
for a highly secure network. In commercial or industrial settings, hackers might try to perform a
Denial of Lighting, similar to a Denial of Service on internet sites that they hack into. This
might not be done only to be disruptive, but on large buildings in major cities, hackers might be
tempted to black out only some lights in order to spell words or slogans with the remaining
lights. Triggering fire alarms could also be an effective way to get a target out of a building and
in the open in an assassination attempt. Access control through wireless connections might lead
to break ins and burglary in an insecure environment. For these reasons ZigBee has been
designed to have a high level of security. In order for ZigBee to catch on in businesses and homes
it needs to be simple to set up the network and to add new devices. ZigBee networks rely on
simplicity and ease of setup. In most instances a new device is simply synchronized with the
existing network by placing the two devices close together and pressing a button on each device at
the same time. Battery life of a device is an important consideration in the design of the ZigBee
standard. Many devices will have simple inexpensive

The Effects Of Bilingualism
Bilingualism is commonly defined as the use of two languages by an individual. It is a term for
children and adults who have a proficiency in two languages (ASHA, 2004). Bilingualism is
common and it is on the rise in many parts of the world. Moreover, one in three people being
bilingual or multilingual (Wei, 2000).
It is estimated that there are more second language speakers of English than native speakers
(Genesee, 2009), and there are as many bilingual children as there are monolingual children
(Paradis, Genesee, Crago, 2011). It means that many children are being raised as bilinguals.
Sometimes bilingualism is required for them, because the children s parents may not speak a
dominant language fluently. The dominant language is the language that is the someone s
strongest language, and people feel more comfortable when they are speaking, reading, and writing
in that language. Therefore, the child may learn one language at home and he/she can learn another
at school. But sometimes bilingualism is a preference. Because parents may want to expose their
children to another language, even if they do not know and speak a second language.
Children usually learn to be bilingual by hearing and speaking two languages. Children might hear
one or more languages at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sequential acquisition may be experienced if children immigrate to another country where a
language is spoken rather than their own language. The sequential acquisition may also occur if the
children solely speak their native language at home until they begin school, where they see any
other language for the first time.
The core difference between these two types of bilingual language acquisition is that simultaneous
bilingualism refers to acquire two or more languages at the same time, and sequential bilingualism
refers to acquire one language and then subsequently acquire another

Role Of Heroes In My Life Essay
The Hero in My Life Heroes can come into your life and change everything. My grandmother,
Jackie, was my hero. A dedicated Christian, wonderful grandmother, a loving wife, and an
exceptional selfless person. I accepted the Lord into my life, because she took the time to tell
me about Him. She helped mold me into a thankful Christian mother; for that I will be forever
grateful. My Grandmother was my greatest influence in life. There is no way I could ever have
thanked her for the impact she left in my life. My grandmothers love was unconditional for her
grandchildren. She was a devoted Christian woman, in church and out. She was always telling
people of God and how great He was. No matter who you were she would pray with you and for
you. Whether you were a sinner or saint, she was there for you. Every time I stayed with her, she
would tell me wonderful stories of the Lord, as well as say our night time prayer. One night, as
she kneeled by my bedside, we were about to say our prayers, she looked at me and said have
you ever asked the Lord into your heart ? I told her no, I wasn t even sure what that meant or
how to do. She explained to me, the Lord would live in my heart and I could talk with him
whenever I needed to. He would protect me and forgive me, just like a father would. Of course, I
said yes, who wouldn t want that? My Grandmother led me in the Sinners Prayer and my life has
since been forever changed. When I became pregnant at 17, well before marriage, I thought
surely my pregnancy was going to disappoint her. I had to tell my grandmother that I was
pregnant. How could she still love me after doing something she would never approve of? Would
she still be proud of me or ashamed of me? Open arms and unconditional love is what she
showed me. No matter what you did in life, she loved you as if you were an angel. Even though
the choices we made were wrong, never once did she put us down or make us feel bad. After
telling her the news, she was still proud of me. That made me want to push even harder, to
becoming something better in life. I carried on through my senior year, making sure to do
everything right. My daughter was born ten days late, one day after I walked across the stage for
graduation.

How Natural Law Enforces Human Rights
Natural Law enforces human rights. When we look at abortions laws we see between a legal
system based on the legal theory of natural law the law that comes from God s nature and
inherent right and wrong as He defines it furthermore a legal system based on legal positivism
(law is derived from whatever man says is law no inherent right and wrong). Prior to the turn of
the 20th century, legal philosophy from whence laws were derived in the Western world was
based upon a natural law theory. A belief that there was an inherent right and wrong based on God
s principles. In the late 1800 s early 1900 s the legal philosophy began to shift and is now
predominantly based upon legal positivismwhich says that law is only right or wrong because man
has made it so. Natural law is based on the character of God; thus, like Him, it does not change as
man changes.
The importance of how natural law enforces human rights
Natural Law shapes conduct, forces specific conduct, and is designed by God to influence moral
behavior. Natural law imposes morality which enforces the protection of human rights. Natural
law gives a person the free will to do whatever they please as long as that free will does not harm
others or violates the Natural laws created by God. Nonetheless, God is the source of Natural Law
with an expression of moral order through the word of God. Society and government were not
central conceptions in the life of a people governed by God through his prophets,

Video Game Culture Over The Youth Of The Nation
With the video game culture taking over the youth of the nation it s easy to forget where the
beginning of this colossal enterprise started. With the lack of video games in the past the
original family games started with classic board games resembling Monopoly and life. These
timeless games gave birth to their own culture that allowed players to become immersed in
fantasy worlds. This included the creation of games like Dungeons Dragons which would spawn
its own generation of gamers. Recently the popularity in these fantasy, and strategy based games
has been growing. The reasons that is drawing groups to participate in an archaic form of
gaming is unclear. It s imperative to understand why this subculture gaining in popularity, and
how it s attracting people with the lure of mages and spells. During my initial visits to my filed
location I have observed how the building was laid out, some of the unspoken rules of the
community, and how different groups of board gamers frequent the location. Without knowing
what to observe first during I decided that I would get a good idea on how the building was laid
out. I decided to arrive to the gaming store on a Saturday at noon. I was hoping that this would

people that would show up for the tournament style gaming. Thinking that the location would be

The Government s Freedom Of Press
Since the Turkish state was founded by Mustafa Kemal AtatГјrk in 1923, the press in Turkey has
never been free. The first government was ruled by the AtatГјrk s party, the Republican People s
Party (CHP), which claimed to be liberal and modernist; however, they made a law which could
shut down and /or censor any newspapers which they did not like. (Bulut, 2015). During the CHP
era, 130 newspapers and magazines were banned. Although many parties names have changed
throughout the years, the ruling ideology has been the same. For instance, during the rule of Prime
Minister Adnan Menderes(1950 1960, Democrat Party), 161 newspapers were banned (YД±lmaz,
Doganer, 2007). Unfortunately, today s freedom of press in Turkey has further worsened. At the
end of 2011, 110,000 websites were shut down by the AKP governments attempts. (Depeli, 2012).
Many journalists were arrested, tortured and imprisoned. Most of the cases were associated with
terrorism. According to the BIA Media Monitoring Reports, 104 journalists and 30 distributors
were imprisoned in 2012. Also 64 of the journalists were Kurdish as well as almost all distributors.
(Depeli, 20112).
When AtatГјrk founded the Republic of Turkey, his ideology was to westernize the country through
changing the education and political systems. Even though the majority of the population of Turkey
supported the Kemalist (AtatГјrkist) ideology today and his modern world view , they never

Fish Dam Research Paper
There are obviously going to be multiple impacts on the environment because of the dam s
construction. However, what most people don t know is what they actually are.
Many fish cannot pass through the dam. This impacts their breeding and migration. While many
will argue that some fish can make it through, there are still dangers for the fish on the other side.
After water enters the dam, oxygen is sucked out of it. This little bit of oxygen is essential for fish
to survive in the water, and without it, they suffocate and die.
When a dam is put into use, pooling up water on one side, many trees drown. This then results in
the trees releasing their remaining carbon dioxide in mass quantities. This gas not only contributes

Taking a Look at the Second Triumvirate
The Second Triumvirate was a formal magistracy legally appointed which could dominate the
Senate and the State (Scullard) and would prove to be the final straw in an already failed
Republican system. The Roman Republic was ruled by a Constitution, which relied on a balance of
three elements; The Senate; the Magistrates; the Assemblies. When the balance was upset either by
ambitious magistrates, armies or tribunes then civil war was the result. The Senate proved
ineffectual in preventing the Second Triumviratefrom unbalancing this concept thus the played a
significant role in the Republic s fall. The Second Triumvirate, like those before them, had been
able to take advantage of a vulnerable Senate to achieve their own personal aims in defiance of
the Senate. The lack of faith in the Senate, which was present for this period of time, was what
granted the Second Triumvirate to be the final push in the fall of the Republic. The Sullan legacy
continued to be displayed in unlawful acts conducted by this three man rule. Marc Antony,
Octavian, and Lepidus all knew the significance of having an army at their hands and wealth that
would ensure two things for them, power and civil war at the hands of conflict. It is therefor
known that the Second Triumvirate played a significant role in the fall of an already fallen Republic.
In the place of the dictator Caesar, Rome had now appointed three dictators who would prove to
destroy a system in turmoil. Thus, a single dictator had

3. The Fire Sermon
The Fire Sermon is the third part of The Waste Land . The title is derived from a similar named
work by Buddha, which T.S. Eliot himself considered corresponding
В…in importance to the sermon of the mountВ… (Eliot 1971: 148).
In addition to the title, at the end of the poem Eliot also refers to this work. 3.1 Structure
The structure of the Fire Sermon is not easy to analyze. The poem does not have a straight
rhyme scheme or rhythm. Its main structural element is variation. Therefore I would suggest
seeing the whole poem reflecting the image of a river. This is done on various levels: the actions
and places described in the poem merge into one another, the transitions are flowing (cf. line 255
257, where first the record is put on the gramophone and then although there is a shift in place and
speaker it says This music crept by me upon the waters ), and also the rhythm and rhyme scheme
are constantly changing, so speed and intonation of a reader have to be adapted, just as a river runs
sometimes faster and sometimes more slowly.
There are parts with much more regular rhythm and rhyme scheme. Especially the part from line
218 I TiresiasВ… until line 256 And puts a recordВ… ). This reflects on the one hand the
monotony of the relationship ( love would not be suitable here!) of the described couple and on the
other hand this is the part, which is most clearly set in the

Miss Emily Is An Alien
Since Homer admitted his relation to men, the women of the town have sprung in curiosity for
Emily s reaction. The town has begun to say once more, Poor Emily ; although, the children say:
Miss Emily was an alien. This bizarre issue was difficult to process, and some believed the theory
the children spoke about repeatedly. Most of the town paid no mindto the children s thoughts;
therefore, they carried on gossiping. Emily slowly vanished once more; consequently, Homer
disappeared, not giving her a reason to make an appearance. In consternation, the people attentively
engaged themselves in the children s stories, even though they sounded obscure to the human mind.
The children commenced their hypothesis, however, the story was suddenly interrupted by Miss
Emily s servant, You fools! Miss Emily was no alien. Let me tell you the real story. The shock on
everyone s face brought them to the abrupt thought of intrigue. His crusty old voice shook as his
figure bent in years of labor, I first started observing her everyday behaviors as they gradually
became petrifying. Miss Emily had a great attachment to Homer. One in which, she would have
done anything to have his affection back. I would hear screams coming from across the hall as I
cooked her dinner. Everyone was in dismay of his story, but would not dare move an inch for they
desired to listen. The old man continued on his speech by saying, She planned for a wedding and I

What Were The Consequences That Erupted After The Pact...
Introduction What were the consequences that erupted after the pact between Hitler and Stalin?
The results of the pacts between Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin were betrayals and battles, which
changed the course of the war. If not for the striking similarities between the two dictators, which
led to their downfall, the Axis, Germany, Italy and Japan, would have had the opportunity to win
the largest war in recent history; however, due to the occurrence of the betrayal on Hitler s behalf,
the war was turned in favor of the Allies, Great Britain, France and later on the Soviet Union..
Pacts
The first pact written was referred to as the Nazi Soviet Pact. The pact caught many off guard due
to the fact that fascism was the style of government running Germany, while Russia had a
communist form of government. The document had been written at the beginning of the war,
August 22, 1939. The signing of the document was the signal that the war was going to begin.
Negotiated by two foreign ministers, Joachim Von Ribbentrop and Vyacheslav Molotov, the
countries came to an agreement, despite the opposing ideals and goals of each country. When the
odds of the war were not in their favor, they had a change of heart and joined forces (Ross). The
leaders put their mutual hatred and distrust for one another aside in order to form a mutually
beneficial relationship between the countries. The Nazi Soviet Pact addressed the course of action
each country would take concerning Poland. Hitler

America s Poverty Rates In Developing Countries
The expectations for an elegant, extremely comfortable lifestyle have gotten much higher, when the
reality is that 85% of the world s population are living in countries with extremely high poverty
rates. In the dictionary, the word poverty means the state of being extremely poor and when people
think of poverty, they think of struggling african families or malnourished children in continents
like Africa. Contrary to what people think, America is a country where there is a lot of poverty. In
2015, 43.1 million americans were in poverty with the highest number being children under the age
of 18. Compared to africa, America s poverty rates are significantly low. In a study conducted in
2010, it showed that more than 414 million people in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The main causes of poverty in the Native american community are domestic violence and
behavioral health disorders. 1 in 4 native americans are at risk of poverty. Native american
people experience higher death rates due to poverty and the lack of money to buy medicine or
pay for their doctor s visits. Some of the elements that add to the number of deaths are tuberculosis,
alcoholism, AIDS, and suicide. Life expectancy rate is six years lower than the national average. It
is sometimes said that poverty and crimes are siblings. Many crimes such as murder, rape, and theft
happen at native american reservations. The National Crime Victimization survey shows that
Native american people experience twice as much violence as the rest of us in the general
population. Some studies have shown the correlation between poverty and crimes and this is true

Ellis Island First Person Creative Essay
This is a creative essay on Ellis Island, describing life as an immigrant who went to Ellis Island
through first person. All facts and dates are historically correct.
I come from Spain. My name is Carmina Diaz.
I immigrated because of the Cristero War, in Spain. The war was actually a rebellion of the Roman
Catholics in Spain who were persecuted by the government. There were dangers such as raids and
the death toll was growing higher every day. Being a Catholic Christian family who simply wanted
to live in peace, we moved out to escape the war and the persecution that had caused it.
We travelled from our hometown in Spain, a place called Badajoz in a train to Lisboa, Spain.
Lisboa had a harbor and from there we boarded the ship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I stayed healthy but I wondered if the more sick would make it into America.
Now focusing on some of the more tasteful parts of the voyage. I m normally quite shy. Living so
close to others breeds annoyance and irritation, especially towards those others, but I did make a
few friends. There was this bouncy girl, also from Spain, called Carlotta. She spoke Portuguese
as well as Spanish and introduced me to her good friend Sancho from Portugal. We all became
friends and discussed our homelands and topics like school and cultural differences. We were
amazed at how different our lives were. Yet we were friends on board.
Reaching Ellis Island
When the ship finally arrived at America. I was feeling excited yet apprehensive. I felt excited to
see this new world that had been all the talk on the ship. However, worry was practically eating
my insides; where would we go? What would we do? Would wild animals attack us? How would
we earn our living? Would there be savages waiting for us? Where were we landing? Would we
be sent back? What would the people be like? Would I still be able to go to school? Would we
have to live off the land? (If so, I could take Carlotta and Sancho with me)! I could not bear the
thought of another few weeks cooped up in that ship. Of course, I was nervous, and there were
butterflies in my stomach, too!
In my imagination, America had been a wild and dangerous jungle. I was disappointed when I saw
the reality. New York had a perfectly

The Importance Of T Cells
T cells play a central role in the activation of cellular immunity and are of key importance to the
maintenance of immunological memory. In cellular immunity, the effector phase is triggered
once the T cell receptors (TCRs) expressed on the surface of T lymphocytes engages specific
peptide antigens (Ags) presented by MHC molecules, and regarded as one of the key discoveries
in our understanding of the adaptive immune response. Presumably, due to the selective pressure
exerted by the pathogens, T cells have evolved to recognize a range of chemically distinct antigens
such as lipids and vitamin B metabolites and challenged the prevailing view that T cells are solely
reactive to peptide antigens presented by MHC molecules. Perhaps one of the... Show more content

The above holds true particularly when mouse model is used to evaluate the functional outcome of
NKT cells, wherein the role of CD1d2 in antigen presentation and NKT TCR recognition remain
obscure. This is has been overcome with the crystal structure of the CD1d2, which has now
provided a valuable insight into the antigen presentation mechanism mediated by CD1d2. The
crystal structure has identified a smaller A antigen binding pocket in CD1d2, which in turn
indicated the possible requirement of shorter acyl chain length lipid for its antigen presentation.
Given that most of the antigens that were studied in the context of NKT cell mediated immunity
required longer A pocket compared to the relative size in CD1d2, the study indicates that CD1d2
might present a different set of lipid antigens for NKT TCR recognition. Further, owing to their
monomorphic nature, the finding can be used as a potential lead to evaluate how the difference in
antigen presentation can impact the reactivity of NKT cells and subsequently the outcome of the
NKT cell mediated immune response. In addition, the crystal structure could be used as a platform
for the development of novel immunotherapeutics with the special focus on CD1d2 restricted NKT
cells. In future, the study will be aimed to address the structural basis of NKT TCR CD1d2 Ag
recognition, which will considerably help us in understanding the basis of CD1d2 in lipid mediated

Models Of Abnormal Psychology
There are various models of abnormality. Such models include the biological model,
psychodynamic model, behavioral model, cognitive model, humanistic existential model, and the
sociocultural model. Models of abnormality explain the causes and treatments for all
psychological illnesses. Psychologists don t believe in all of these models, they are considered
theories due to being based off a psychologist s own beliefs and assumptions. These theories are
even more complex as many have theories within themselves. This proves that psychologyis ever

Explain The Three Branches Of Texas Government
The three branches of government of Texas: Introduction This paper will discuss about the three
branches of government of Texas. The government of Texas has its operations under the
constitution of Texas (Maxwell, Crain, Santos, 2013). It consists of a unitary democratic state of
government that applies the Dillon Rule as the County and municipal levels. The branches of the
Texas government consist of the executive branch, which consist of the governor, Lieutenant
governor and many others in that docket. The governor heads the executive branch and many other
leaders work under him/her. The executive branch system limits the power of the governor, but
does not do that to the secretary of the state. Elections of the executive officials are elected
independently and therefore they are answerable to the public independently and not to the
governor. In this kind of a branch of government I would have changed the power that the governor
has to appoint a committee that would solely rely on the on the governors decisions (Child). Rather

program consisted of three unique musical pieces performed by the renowned Atlanta Symphony
Orchestra.
Before the concert began, I was able to observe the audience members outside of the entrance

diverse crowd dressed formally. The doors opened fifteen minutes before the concert began and an
usher escorted me to the second row in front of the stage. As the performance began, felt a formal

Two Experiences Of Erikson s Theory Of Personality...
Developmental psychology is the study of physical, cognitive, and psychosocial changes that occur
throughout an individual s lifespan (Weiten, 2015). These changes are influenced by the
environment, therefore shaping an individual s personality, cognition and social functioning
(Narvaez Gleason, 2012). This essay will identify and discuss two experiences that complement two
stages of Erikson s Theory of Personality Development (Fleming, 2004) namely: industry versus
inferiority and identity versus role confusion. It will discuss the authoritative style in the parenting
theory and the secure attachment style from the theory of attachment. An analysis of the author s
own personal experiences will be discussed by relying on the facts of each theory. It will address
strengths and weaknesses regarding Erikson s Theory, relevant to the author s developmental
process, living in South Africa.

Secure attachment, recognized by Mary Ainsworth, is well structured (Narvaez Gleason, 2012). It

prominent in the home. Authoritative parenting style is similar to secure attachment as both
parents give support and affection to the author. The constant affection imposes a close relationship
between the parents and the author because it is a space where there is no judgement and the
author is capable of implementing trust and honesty. Secure attachment has helped the author s self

Equal Rights For Women
Equal rights for women has been in an ongoing conversation throughout America, especially
when it comes to the workforce. Equal pay and opportunity has been fought for, for many years.
But can the workforce really be equal if the women do not do their part to strive and stay in
work? In Sheryl Sandberg s Ted Talk Why We Have Too Few Women Leaders she discusses the
topic of how women can rise to the top and become leaders in the world by staying in their line of
work. She explains that although equality for women has progressed, leadership positions often
lack femaleoccupants. (Sandberg, 2010, page 12) She backs her statements using logos as she goes

friends struggle with this. There has been many times where I left a test or showcase tournament
knowing I failed to do the best I could when in doubt I did just fine. I believe this to tie into an
underlying self esteem issue women face. According to Colleen Slaughter (2016), In a KPMG
Women s Leadership study, 67% of women said they needed more support building confidence to
feel like they can be leaders. This statistic shows that women lack the self confidence to sit at the
table . In order for women to become top leaders in industries they must first find their confidence
within themselves.
As Sandberg begins to discuss her second rule, make your partner a real partner, there are many
obstacles that one could face which might make following them impractical. She also neglects the
fact the some households differ. In her Ted Talk, one can come to the conclusion that she is
advertising to the families that have a mom and a dad. In fact Sandberg specifically states (2010,
page), If a woman and a man work full time and have a child, the woman does twice the amount of
housework the man does, and the woman does three times the amount of childcare the man does.
Sandberg fails to include a version of rule number two that would be attainable for nonheterosexual

Although The Hurt Locker details the emotional impacts of war on soldiers and occasionally breaks

example, James friendship with Beckham, a boy who lingers around the base selling DVDs, is

Eldridge s guilt and grief over his previous squad mate s death affects him when he is out of the
field, and although he is a capable soldier, he remains unsure while in combat, unlike his two

additionally, men in lower positions of power and who are not self reliant are viewed as less
masculine because they do not uphold traditional male stereotypes. Because of his insecurity
and subordinate positon, Eldridge is characterized as less masculine than either James or
Sanborn by the viewer of the film. Contrastingly, Sanborn is not afforded much emotion until the
end of the film, during his breakdown in the Humvee, where he weeps, admitting his fears of

Sanborn s character, since he is characterized as a no nonsense leader for the majority of the film

American Alligator Research Paper
KINGDOM: Animalia
PHYLUM: Chordata
CLASS: Reptilia
ORDER: Crocodylia
FAMILY: Alligatoridae
GENUS: Alligator
SPECIES: Mississippiensis
One of the largest reptiles in the United States is the American Alligator. This alligator can grow
up to 12 feet in length and weigh as much as 1 ton. Male alligators are commonly larger than
female alligators. Both males and females have a thick armored body with embedded thick scales
or bony plates called osteoderms, or scutes. They have four short, but muscular legs and a long,
round snout. Its eyes are situated on the top of its head. The alligator can swim with just the top of
their head when it is in the water. This is a tactic that they do that will help them sneak up to their
prey. When they dip their heads under water, its nostrils and ears close and a membrane shields its
eyes. The American Alligator can grow up to 2,000 to 3,000 teeth in its mouth during its lifetime.
Once their teeth wear down, new ones replace them. American Alligators can be found in the
coastal wetlands of the United States southeast, ranging as far north as North Carolina and as far

The Pros And Cons Of Machine Learning
Machine learning and Deep Learning Some machines are capable to acquire their own knowledge
by extracting patterns from raw data, a phenomenon known as machine learning (ML) (Bengio, Ian
and Aaron 2016). Without question, many aspects of modern society have been deeply impacted by
these machine learning systems. Furthermore, ML claims to accomplish simple results that can be
effortlessly understood by humans (Michie, et al. 1994). Outputs from these systems that are used
in service systems include, but are not limited to offering customers new items and narrowing down
their search based on their interests; language understanding, object recognition, speech perception,
and identifying and favoring significant results of online searches (Yann , Yoshua and Geoffrey
2015). It is important to emphasize that even though human intervention is necessary for
background knowledge, the operational phase is expected to be without human interaction (Michie,
et al. 1994). Consequently, these systems must be able to learn through time. According to
Alpaydin (2004), they must be able to evolve and optimize a performance criterion in order to
adapt to the environmental changes to which they are exposed over time. These systems do that
through the use of past experience or example data. Russell et al. (2004), classified machine
learning tasks into three different groups based on the feedback available to the learning system
and the nature of the learning signal: supervised learning,

Each agency had specific responsibilities to help get America back on track. The initial agencies
were: Federal Emergency Relief Administration, Civilian Conservation Corps, Public Works
Administration (which later became the Works Progress Administration), Agricultural Adjustment
Administration and the Tennessee Valley Authority. Another feature of the New Deal was the
various acts passed, which were: The Emergency Banking Act, Securities Exchange Act and the
National Industrial Recovery Act.
The first thing Roosevelt did as part of his New Deal was to pass the aforementioned Emergency
Banking Act which declared a bank holiday and closed all banks for at least 8 days. During those
8 days, government workers investigated the banks reopening only those that were deemed
reliable, sound and safe. Soon they officially opened 5000 banks reassuring Americans that their
money was indeed safe. This helped solve the depression partly as it helped return some
confidence to the Americans, which meant that more people would spend or invest money. This
was a huge success because as soon as the banks had re opened, over $1 billion was deposited back
into them.
While this was taking place, Roosevelt

A Brief Note On Preventative Medicine And Education
Preventative Medicine and Education Poor health and homelessness has been connected through
multiple studies. Having poor health can cause homelessness. On the flip side, being homeless can
also cause poor health. Being homeless brings a list of complications including limited access to
getting proper health care. This causes the health of the homeless population in the United States to
be worse than that of the general population. Common health problems in the homeless population
include: mental health problems, substance abuse problems, bronchitis and pneumonia, problems
caused by being outdoors, wound and skin infections, along with the complications that follow
each of the listed problems (Medicine Plus, 2016). Along with the list of problems previously
stated, many homeless women are victims of domestic or sexual abuse. Children often have high
rates of emotional and behavioral problems, many times caused from having witnessed abuse.
Studies have shown 31 46% report having a chronic medical problem. (NHCHC, 2001, p.1).
According to these statistics almost half of the homeless population are suffering from chronic
health problems. The majority of which will not receive proper care to cure the health problems.

The novels, Cain by JosГ© Saramago and Gilead by Marilynne Robinson, both present different
perspectives of God and truth. Through Cain, a reader can gain a skeptical perception of God and
ultimately, question the importance of religion. On an alternative side, while Gilead does not
directly offer commentary to Godand religion, it is the source of its characters strength, especially
with Robinson s character Ames. Either way, God and religion has a profound impact on Cain and

It is clear that Cain s initial interaction with God was indeed a negative one but it created an outlet
for Cain to question truth and to prove why religion s truth is incorrect.
With the story of Job, That doesn t seem very fair of the lord...a good and upright man, and very
religious too, he has committed no crime, and yet, for no reason, he is about to be punished with
the loss of all his money and possessions, Cain questions why Job will be punished as severely as
he was when Job followed the ideal pious path (Saramago, 122 123). In this instance, Cain is
taking a protective role as well as a critical one when it comes to God s convoluted motivations,
The lord and satan made a wager, but this man job isn t to know he is the object of that gambler s

since Cain felt he was not at fault for killing Abel, but rather, God was for not stopping him or
giving him such a miserable life that led him to kill his younger brother. This idea that a

Why Plastic Bags Should Be Banned
Banning Plastic Bags
The plastic bag is an innovative invention all around the world. It makes the world more
convenient and because of this convenience, the plastic bag is multi purposeful and is used
widespread such as in stores, houses, restaurants, etc. However, the problem is that a lot of
people do not know that plastic bags have many harmful effects. First of all, plastic bags cause
environmental damages, and produces cataclysmic events in wildlife. For example, plastic bags
become litter after they are found in waterways, parks, beaches, and streets. Plastic bags also effect
air when burned, infusing the air with toxins. Something that many may not think about when they
think of plastic bags is the harmful effects it brings to the animals. The death of countless animals
such as dolphins, turtles, penguins, etc. is due to the production of plastic bags. The ocean is
home to thousands of species and ocean wonders but there is so often trash thrown into the sea
that disrupts the life beneath the water. Those animals ingest plastic bags and ultimately die, while
another animal comes back and eats that dead animal which results in a chain reaction that is
going to come back around and bite humans back. The public should realize that plastic bags have
adverse effects, and those effects will be worse than the convenience of using a plastic bag.
Plastic bags produce environmental pollution. People need to reduce the use of plastic bags in order
to save the environment. This

highly effective, performance based organization by recruiting, acquiring, motivating, and
rewarding a high performing, top quality workforce. The plan becomes the roadmap for continuous

Finally, diversity and multiculturalism was a major issue that plagued AGC. Project management
and sensitivity training should have included all expatriates, employees, and cross cultural teams to
strengthen the interpersonal skills needed to be successful. These problems were diagnosed by
means of employee surveys, interviews, and focus groups. In conclusion, the root causes of these
problems were lack of training, poor leadership styles and pool human capital management.
Intervention:
If AGC is going to survive, it s culture needs an overall improvement to increase its performance,
provide a strategic competitive advantage, and encompass unified beliefs and values to be upheld
throughout the company. By ensuring HR is taking the cognitive approach to openly discuss
various cultures and gain knowledge and feedback in a safe and structured setting, AGC will better
determine who is a better fit as an expatriate for the company. The cognitive approach also focuses
on assessing an individual s knowledge of the cultural backgrounds of the participants in efforts to
build a strong understanding into the cultures of others. (Sabotoka, 2017). Pre departure training
allows the employee and family members to enter the assignment already equipped with realistic

Octavius, lead your battle softly on Upon the left hand of the even field. Octavius. Upon the
right hand I. Keep thou the left. Antony. Why do you cross me in this exigent? Octavius. I do not
cross you; but I will do so (1.2.85 9).Brutus is saying that he fears sooner than later that Caesar
will become king and that is against the Roman republic. This would be something hard to do
because even though most of the conspirator do like Caesar most of the Rome people do like
him. What Shakespeare is trying to show the reader is that people s words have a lot of power or
in this case Brutus word. What Brutus has to say about his reason to kill Caesar is what
eventually leads to his downfall when he says, If then that friend demand why Brutus rose

you rather Caesar were living, and die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live all freemen? As
Caesar loved me, I weep for him; as he was fortunate, I rejoice at it; as he was valiant, I honor
him; but as he was ambitious, I slew him (3.2.19 24). Brutus is talking to one of the plebeians

Mission and Vision
A mission statement communicates the organization s reason for being, and how it aims to serve
its key stakeholders, customers, suppliers. It defines the purpose and values of the organization. A
mission statement talks about the present leading to its future. It helps in tactical planning.
A vision statement is sometimes called a picture of your company in the future but it is so much
more than that. Vision statement is the inspiration, the framework for all strategic planning of the

Tesco s management recognize the key role that its mission, vision and strategies play in its
success and use a range of key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate its
performance. Tesco is one of the largest retailers in the world. This success has not come about by
chance but is the result of effective leadership and management. The setting of a clear vision is
central to Tesco s success, supported by a commitment to establishing and monitoring specific
objectives and devising strategies to ensure these are achieved.
According to some researches, since vision and mission statement effect strategic management of
the organization, the firms that have a formalized mission statement have twice the average return
on shareholders equity than those firms without a formalized mission statement. Another report

2. You will also needfloral wire or some sort of string.
Instead, I am using twine to secure the branches onto the hanger. You can find twine in most
convenience stores. They re usually under 10 dollars.
3. Lastly, you will need embellishments;
a. The fun thing about making wreaths is that you can personalize it to your liking.
b. Buying artificial plants and flowers will make your wreath everlasting, which can be bought
from Michaels, Walmart, or even Dollar Tree, only a few miles away from Milpitas High.
c. If you really want to make your wreath even more unique, you can add small photos, items from
a trip, or even foliage and branches from a nearby park.
[Transition: Once you have all the materials that you need, you can move on to picking out the
different items to start beautifying your wreath.] B. Your second step is to obtain a frame. For
this demonstration, I have a wire hanger here with me. The reason why it has to be a wire
hanger is because you want to be able to reshape it. Most of you can find this in your closet. 1.
Start by pulling down the middle of the bar of the hanger, creating a square 2. Transform the
square into a circle by pulling the wire outwards between each angle of the square 3. Make sure to
make any adjustments as necessary to make your hanger into a shape of a circle.
[Transition: Now that the wire frame is a circle, you are just about ready to start embellishing.

  • 2. Slaughterhouse Five Analysis The Nonsense of war Slaughterhouse Five written by Kurt Vonnegut is a book about Billy Pilgrim s experience throughout World War 2 (WW2). The author uses many key phrase s throughout the book but one that caught the readers attention was when the author puts a bird saying Poo tee weet (Vonnegut, 19) in the novel. This quote is one of the smallest but holds the grandest meaning. Kurt Vonnegut uses many phrases in his story to prove a point and drive in the fact that the story is an anti war novel, but the best phrase he used to make this point was Poo tee weet . The author foreshadows what is going to happen throughout the whole book by saying And what do the birds say? All there is to say about a massacre, things like Poo tee weet? (19). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To the birds the bombing was just another thing that happened in their lifetime, they keep chirping as if nothing had happened, and in such a way that it shows they were unaffected by the events that just unraveled around them. This is much like the Tralfamadorians who don t believe in free will because, they have the knowledge of fourth dimensions and see that all pieces of time have already been laid out and are repeating. With this knowledge the Tralfamadorians aren t going to be surprised or impacted by the bombings and war because they have already seen it happen a multitude of times. This could greatly improve the impact of an anti war novel because it symbolizes the folly of man. It shows that humans as a whole know that war is a senseless act that doesn t accomplish anything, and only causes sadness and death, but instead of learning from are mistakes in the past, and figuring out new ways to solve conflicts between countries, we continued to fight wars with no end. After World War 1(WW1) author Ernest Hemingway called the generation that came to age during WW1 The Lost Generation , because of the astonishing 35 Million casualties (ww1facts.net, 1) that were lost during the war. With casualties this high it would make sense to figure out a different way to settle disagreements ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although, these life changing events do not happen often, they happen to everyone. I have had a few major, life changing occurrences in my lifetime, some are good and some are not so good. One of them that stands out the most to me and has impacted me the greatest is something everyone experiences at some point in their lives. For me, it was on October 20th, 2015, when I was 13 years old, the day my first dog Lucky died. She told me that the vet said Lucky had kidney disease and all they could do is give him pain medicine and try to keep him alive until that weekend when my dad got home on Friday. My first reaction was denial. All I could think was, surely a dog that I had loved so much all my life could not die. I refused to believe the truth, I spent the entire evening looking up kidney disease, trying to find a solution that did not exist. I refused to eat or leave Lucky s side. I knew his health had been declining, but I kept telling myself Lucky will get better. The issue was, I was only denying the inevitable. The next day was the hardest of my life. At school, I could not focus, all I could do was think about Lucky. That night, I had to cheer at a game about an hour away. At first I was not sure if I wanted to go, but my friends convinced me it would be good to get my mind of Lucky for a little bit. Around the middle of the first quarter I saw my little brother show up with one of his friends. I immediately knew something was very wrong, why would my brother come to an away game, especially so far away without my mom, I knew my mom did not have anything going on that night. Somehow I ... While they were living in Drear House, it was obvious some one did not want them to be there. They got many threats and damage to their house. ZigBee uses 128 bit AES encryption algorithms for a highly secure network. In commercial or industrial settings, hackers might try to perform a Denial of Lighting, similar to a Denial of Service on internet sites that they hack into. This might not be done only to be disruptive, but on large buildings in major cities, hackers might be tempted to black out only some lights in order to spell words or slogans with the remaining lights. Triggering fire alarms could also be an effective way to get a target out of a building and in the open in an assassination attempt. Access control through wireless connections might lead to break ins and burglary in an insecure environment. For these reasons ZigBee has been designed to have a high level of security. In order for ZigBee to catch on in businesses and homes it needs to be simple to set up the network and to add new devices. ZigBee networks rely on simplicity and ease of setup. In most instances a new device is simply synchronized with the existing network by placing the two devices close together and pressing a button on each device at the same time. It is a term for children and adults who have a proficiency in two languages (ASHA, 2004). Bilingualism is common and it is on the rise in many parts of the world. Moreover, one in three people being bilingual or multilingual (Wei, 2000). It is estimated that there are more second language speakers of English than native speakers (Genesee, 2009), and there are as many bilingual children as there are monolingual children (Paradis, Genesee, Crago, 2011). It means that many children are being raised as bilinguals. Sometimes bilingualism is required for them, because the children s parents may not speak a dominant language fluently. The dominant language is the language that is the someone s strongest language, and people feel more comfortable when they are speaking, reading, and writing in that language. Therefore, the child may learn one language at home and he/she can learn another at school. But sometimes bilingualism is a preference. • 10. Role Of Heroes In My Life Essay The Hero in My Life Heroes can come into your life and change everything. My grandmother, Jackie, was my hero. A dedicated Christian, wonderful grandmother, a loving wife, and an exceptional selfless person. I accepted the Lord into my life, because she took the time to tell me about Him. She helped mold me into a thankful Christian mother; for that I will be forever grateful. My Grandmother was my greatest influence in life. There is no way I could ever have thanked her for the impact she left in my life. My grandmothers love was unconditional for her grandchildren. She was a devoted Christian woman, in church and out. She was always telling people of God and how great He was. No matter who you were she would pray with you and for you. Whether you were a sinner or saint, she was there for you. Every time I stayed with her, she would tell me wonderful stories of the Lord, as well as say our night time prayer. One night, as she kneeled by my bedside, we were about to say our prayers, she looked at me and said have you ever asked the Lord into your heart ? I told her no, I wasn t even sure what that meant or how to do. She explained to me, the Lord would live in my heart and I could talk with him whenever I needed to. He would protect me and forgive me, just like a father would. Of course, I said yes, who wouldn t want that? My Grandmother led me in the Sinners Prayer and my life has since been forever changed. When I became pregnant at 17, well before marriage, I thought surely my pregnancy was going to disappoint her. I had to tell my grandmother that I was pregnant. How could she still love me after doing something she would never approve of? Would she still be proud of me or ashamed of me? Open arms and unconditional love is what she showed me. No matter what you did in life, she loved you as if you were an angel. Even though the choices we made were wrong, never once did she put us down or make us feel bad. After telling her the news, she was still proud of me. That made me want to push even harder, to becoming something better in life. I carried on through my senior year, making sure to do everything right. My daughter was born ten days late, one day after I walked across the stage for graduation. ... Prior to the turn of the 20th century, legal philosophy from whence laws were derived in the Western world was based upon a natural law theory. For instance, during the rule of Prime Minister Adnan Menderes(1950 1960, Democrat Party), 161 newspapers were banned (YД±lmaz, Doganer, 2007). Taking a Look at the Second Triumvirate The Second Triumvirate was a formal magistracy legally appointed which could dominate the Senate and the State (Scullard) and would prove to be the final straw in an already failed Republican system. The Roman Republic was ruled by a Constitution, which relied on a balance of three elements; The Senate; the Magistrates; the Assemblies. When the balance was upset either by ambitious magistrates, armies or tribunes then civil war was the result. The Senate proved ineffectual in preventing the Second Triumviratefrom unbalancing this concept thus the played a significant role in the Republic s fall. The Second Triumvirate, like those before them, had been able to take advantage of a vulnerable Senate to achieve their own personal aims in defiance of the Senate. The lack of faith in the Senate, which was present for this period of time, was what granted the Second Triumvirate to be the final push in the fall of the Republic. The Sullan legacy continued to be displayed in unlawful acts conducted by this three man rule. Marc Antony, Octavian, and Lepidus all knew the significance of having an army at their hands and wealth that would ensure two things for them, power and civil war at the hands of conflict. It is therefor known that the Second Triumvirate played a significant role in the fall of an already fallen Republic. • 19. The Fire Sermon is the third part of The Waste Land . The title is derived from a similar named work by Buddha, which T.S. Eliot himself considered corresponding В…in importance to the sermon of the mountВ… (Eliot 1971: 148). In addition to the title, at the end of the poem Eliot also refers to this work. 3.1 Structure The structure of the Fire Sermon is not easy to analyze. The poem does not have a straight rhyme scheme or rhythm. Its main structural element is variation. Therefore I would suggest seeing the whole poem reflecting the image of a river. This is done on various levels: the actions and places described in the poem merge into one another, the transitions are flowing (cf. line 255 257, where first the record is put on the gramophone and then although there is a shift in place and speaker it says This music crept by me upon the waters ), and also the rhythm and rhyme scheme are constantly changing, so speed and intonation of a reader have to be adapted, just as a river runs sometimes faster and sometimes more slowly. There are parts with much more regular rhythm and rhyme scheme. Especially the part from line 218 I TiresiasВ… until line 256 And puts a recordВ… ). This reflects on the one hand the monotony of the relationship ( love would not be suitable here!) of the described couple and on the other hand this is the part, which is most clearly set in the ... This is has been overcome with the crystal structure of the CD1d2, which has now provided a valuable insight into the antigen presentation mechanism mediated by CD1d2. The crystal structure has identified a smaller A antigen binding pocket in CD1d2, which in turn indicated the possible requirement of shorter acyl chain length lipid for its antigen presentation. Given that most of the antigens that were studied in the context of NKT cell mediated immunity required longer A pocket compared to the relative size in CD1d2, the study indicates that CD1d2 might present a different set of lipid antigens for NKT TCR recognition. Further, owing to their monomorphic nature, the finding can be used as a potential lead to evaluate how the difference in antigen presentation can impact the reactivity of NKT cells and subsequently the outcome of the NKT cell mediated immune response. In addition, the crystal structure could be used as a platform for the development of novel immunotherapeutics with the special focus on CD1d2 restricted NKT cells. Composed by Richard Strauss (1864 1949), the piece had a lot of dissonance within it. There were times when the piece would slow down gradually then suddenly speed up, returning back to its original pacing. Contrastingly, Sanborn is not afforded much emotion until the end of the film, during his breakdown in the Humvee, where he weeps, admitting his fears of dying in Iraq before he can go home and start a family. • 35. The Pros And Cons Of Machine Learning Machine learning and Deep Learning Some machines are capable to acquire their own knowledge by extracting patterns from raw data, a phenomenon known as machine learning (ML) (Bengio, Ian and Aaron 2016). Without question, many aspects of modern society have been deeply impacted by these machine learning systems. Furthermore, ML claims to accomplish simple results that can be effortlessly understood by humans (Michie, et al. 1994). Outputs from these systems that are used in service systems include, but are not limited to offering customers new items and narrowing down their search based on their interests; language understanding, object recognition, speech perception, and identifying and favoring significant results of online searches (Yann , Yoshua and Geoffrey 2015). It is important to emphasize that even though human intervention is necessary for background knowledge, the operational phase is expected to be without human interaction (Michie, et al. 1994). Consequently, these systems must be able to learn through time. According to Alpaydin (2004), they must be able to evolve and optimize a performance criterion in order to adapt to the environmental changes to which they are exposed over time. These systems do that through the use of past experience or example data. Russell et al. (2004), classified machine learning tasks into three different groups based on the feedback available to the learning system and the nature of the learning signal: supervised learning, ... The first thing Roosevelt did as part of his New Deal was to pass the aforementioned Emergency Banking Act which declared a bank holiday and closed all banks for at least 8 days. During those 8 days, government workers investigated the banks reopening only those that were deemed reliable, sound and safe. On an alternative side, while Gilead does not directly offer commentary to Godand religion, it is the source of its characters strength, especially with Robinson s character Ames.
