Stereotypes Of Ethnic Entrepreneurs
As with female entrepreneurs, ethnic entrepreneurs also face huge stereotypes that affect their
enterprises. They include the stereotypes that ethnic entrepreneurs only enter markets that need low
capital and education levels, are on a small scale with high labor and very little value. It is also
commonly thought that ethnic entrepreneurs only start their own businesses because they do not
have a chance being employed, and therefore start their organizations to make ends meet. So the
common generalization about ethnic entrepreneurs is that they are under educated people who
started their own organizations because they could not get gainful employment. Blanchflower et al.
1998, presented evidence from their research on black and white owned... Show more content on

Limiting ethnic entrepreneurs to particular industries, or excluding them from white dominated
industries such as construction, which is known to be exclusive to a network affects the rate at
which ethnic entrepreneurs break out of their expected industry into others. They find it difficult to
break into the exclusive bond or network created by among the industry members after many years
of segregation patterns (Geagin and Imani, 1994). Ethnic entrepreneurs therefore face a lot of
discriminatory encounters when they venture into the industries and therefore do not survive most
of the time. Although much research has been launched into women entrepreneurship and
immigrant and minority entrepreneurship as separate topics, there does not seem to be much focus
on entrepreneurs who fit into both categories, the ethnic female entrepreneur. This profile covers a
woman of ethnic background who launches an organization to create innovative solutions for profit.
Owing to the fact that they belong to two categories that face the most challenges in entrepreneurial
pursuits, it is necessary to find out how their special circumstance acts as a barrier to their

The Common Causes Of Weight Loss
One of the most common causes of weight loss is diabetes, this can range from a couple of
pounds to two three stone. Weight loss is usually due to the increased metabolism and
breakdown of muscle and fat due to insulin deficiency. Fluid depletion can also cause weight loss
from both Polydipsia and Polyuria. When an individual presents with these features it is
important for them to be picked up quickly otherwise Ketoacidosis can occur which may be fatal.
Ketones are made up of acetone and two organic acids beta hydroxybutyric acid and acetoacetic
acid. The liver and other cells can only process limited amounts of fatty acids, lipids and ketones
at any given time, any excess of keytones is then secreted into the blood causing ketoacidosis.
The binding of ketoacids and bicarbonate buffers within the blood, leading to an eventual
decrease of PH in the blood due to decreased levels of serum bicarbonate (Gould and Dyer, 2011:
551). As dehydration occurs within the kidneys the demand on glomerular filtration decreases and
so to does the excretion of acids leading to decompensated metabolic acidosis. Diabetic
ketoacidosis or hyperosmolar coma are mostly due to the hyperosmolarity of the blood, secondary
to hyperglycemiaand the result of this can be fatal if not treated within a short period of time Less
obvious presentation includes tiredness and weakness which is very common in uncontrolled
diabetes. Alongside these presenting features comes visual blurring and fungal

Teaching New Recruitment Strategies For The Hospital s...
Over the course of the past two years the patients of the City hospital have aired their disapproval
of the rude and disrespectful behavior of the patient escorts which has had an adverse effect on the
hospital s image and reputation.
As the patients last point of contact, their role is crucial and can make or break the patients
perception of the hospital and the care they have received. Such reputation will also negatively
impact the economy of the hospital in the long run.
At the hospital administrator s request, a meeting was held to address this problem and develop
new recruitment strategies for finding kind and caring escorts with interpersonal skills and
overturning this situation.
Firstly, it was suggested that the application blank should be more specific and reflect the culture
of the hospital as the current application blank does not provide a true insight to the prospective
employee s personality, likes, dislikes etc. I agree with this suggestion as an application blank is
for many businesses the second most common hiring tool after personal interviews (1). A
customized application blank will allow a more effective initial screening and a deeper
understanding of the applicants personality traits , providing that the employer have done a
thorough job analysis and is fully familiar with the specific characteristics of the job (1). The chief
supervisor also suggested that the candidates should provide three recommendations, attesting to

Sigmund Freud Theories
Sigmund Freud s Theories in Relation to Brave New World
One might imagine, what could truly constitute A brave new world? What parameters must that
world fall within? What decisive mind is manning the ship headed toward this utopia? Certainly,
this world has seen innumerous attempts, heard the many strident voices, which barreled forth and
propelled society toward that image. One of those voices belonged to Sigmund Freud, the father of
psychoanalysis, and even, perhaps, a deity of this brave new world.
Sigmund Freud was born May 6th, 1856, in Frieberg, Moravia to a textile dealer named Jacob
Freud (Chiriac, Jean, Sigmund Freud s Childhood ). He was one of eight children, five sisters and
three brothers. The family lived in Frieberg until Sigmund was four years old, when the family
then moved to Vienna where Sigmund would remain for the vast majority of his life. By 1873,
Freud would go on to study medicine at the University of Vienna. Freud went get engaged in 1882,
to a women who would bear him six children. The relationship has been largely considered and
happy, prosperous union (Thornton, Stephan).
In 1938, shortly after the Annexation of Austria, Freud s home in Vienna was raided by Nazis.
Any of Freud s works written before May of 1933 were burned for their flippant destigmatization of
sexuality ( Sigmund Freud and the Holocaust ). With a minimal understanding of the who and the
why of Sigmund Freud, one can move in to comprehending the true girth of his discovery

Viviparity In To Kill A Mockingbird
Introduction
Viviparity (live birth) is a highly uncommon form of reproduction in the insect world, those that
do have this type of reproduction fall into two main groups: those who have a high offspring
rates and those who have low offspring rates. Viviparity, while uncommon, does serve a distinct
purpose. In some cases the insect has very few ovarioles to begin with, in which case, it is
essential for the offspring to be given the best chances at survival they can get. Having the embryo
safely protected inside the insect while it develops gives the young insect a far better survival rate
than those who are deposited in eggs outside the mother. In other cases, such as with Aphids, it
allows for a telescoping generations effect which greatly increases the numbers of ... Show more

Ovoviviparity is a type of viviparity where the developing embryos are carried in a pouch or an
outgrowth of genital ducts and is most commonly known in the cockroach families (Huffaker,
1999, p. 149). This type of viviparity is less taxing on the female since the developing young are
not directly sustaining themselves off her body as they do in true viviparity. Aphids on the other
hand use a strange method known as telescoping generations . The term telescoping generations ,
according to Capinera (2008), refers to the fact that a mother can have in her ovarioles
developing embryos which in turn also contain embryos or future granddaughters (p. 195). This is
an advantage since as soon as they become adults they are able to reproduce immediately due to
the fact that they already had developing embryos in them (Capinera, 2008, p.1104). While
viviparity commonly has a low reproductive rate there are such insects, like cockroaches and
aphids, which are able to use this form of reproduction to their advantage to produce higher

Social Media Satire
A rhetoric for contemplation; what is social media s magnitude that encompasses an individual s

Maze Runner Dystopian Society Quotes
The trend in dystopian societies is very intriguing and so vivid. Dystopian societies dictate many
characteristics as leaders and followers usually one coming out from the shade to lead their small
groups to rebel against order. Through, James Dashner literature the maze runner series he greatly
displays challenges of the protagonist in a fallen society. He also takes his text to the next level by
being able to display hopelessness in a series of challenges, with struggles with fear in courage as
the protagonist in the book go through their trenches, long and dangerous journey. Basically the
control the dystopian society creates. Since their beginning they all went through the same thing.

books their quote on quote just society it rebelled and contradicted against by the protagonist or
simply the characters that are tired of it in the books, for example in book one the kids or teens
are talking to one another and one exclaims think about it our memories are wiped, we live
inside a place that seems to have no way out. Surrounded by blood thirsty monster guards doesn t
that sound like a prison to you? James Dashner (64) Well does it? Theses teens basically had
their whole life taken from them, then the wicked just throws them in a maze filled with
monsters like a lab rats. The people/protagonist in the book had what everyone is obligated to in
their life their freedom and rights stripped away as if this corrupt society couldn t get worse,
overall the maze runner displays the perfect dystopian society. In an online source an author by the
name of Thomas Robinson spoke on the society in the maze runner and he exclaimed a dystopia
society can be described as one where conditions are incredibly bad and unpleasant for the
inhabitants whether due to an oppressive government degrading environmental conditions etc.
Knight, Melissa. The Maze Runner. Thomas goes on to speak on how life is already unpleasant
while where they live is most likely destroyed ruins very dirty and just filled with junk. Having
to live under the lies of their leaders. To wrap up, Dystopian societies lead to many hardships
that is faced which leads to the next topic on a dystopian society. One of the most intriguing
characteristics of James Dashner s dystopian society is how he brings all of his many different
characters to life in their very own unique way. From Thomas to newt to alby to gally they all act
and develop differently throughout the book series. In book one Gally makes himself known to
Thomas as the big boss, and basically disrespects him.

Leadership Theory And Leadership Theories Essay
The basis upon which effective leaders are empowered does not always equate with placing the
right person in the position; in fact, the extent to which leadership theories merely provide an
outline of what is expected of a good leader is both grand and far reaching. Just as a simple job
description only scratches the surface of finding the right employee, the overall impact of a leader
cannot be solely hinged upon the oft inadequate specifics of leadershiptheories. Anyone can follow
the guidelines of a given leadership theory and carry out the compulsory specifications, however,
there are myriad more innate qualifications to effective leadership than what can either be taught
from or redeemed by a simple list of qualifications.
II. THEORIES AND LEADERS Determining what it takes to become a good leader receptively
influential, compassionate, communicative, dynamic has long been up for debate between/among
those who support various theories. Two of the most examined theories, which call upon the
inherent and perhaps even genetic aspects of leadership qualification are the Great Man and Trait
theories. The former relies upon a patriarchal disposition, while the latter draws from a viewpoint of
such characteristics being inborn. Both theories conclude that leadership ability is born not made;
however, the Great Man theory presumes this is acquired from family pedigree, while the Trait
theory assigns a number of commonly shared characteristics that indicate a

Proteins are very important to our lives because they carry out a multitude of tasks in our body.
Proteins are linear chains of amino acids that adopt unique three dimensional structures and are

that can stem from the writers personal view. This meaning that when engaging with these texts it

Realism Vs Classical Realism
Realism is considered the most leading school of thought in international relations, as realism is
also one of the oldest and most entrenched theories of International Relations (Steans, Pettiford,
Diez El Anis 2013, p. 53). All realist share a perspective that states are unitary rational actors that
are encouraged by the desire for military power and security rather than principles or ethics. Realists
view human nature as self seeking, conflictual and competitive and consider that states are
inherently violent as realismvalues order and does not welcome change. There are several forms of
realism such as, structural, neo and classical, however this essay will focus on classical realism, its
key theorists, its strength and weakness and how my view on international politics has changed
over the course of this unit.
Classical realism is a theory of international relations that was founded in the post world war 2
time that pursues to explain international politics as a result of human nature. Classical realism is
also a state level theory that argues that all states seek power, which is driven by desire to achieve
national interests. Classical realists concentrate on two areas of politics; restrictions imposed by
human self interest such as, egoism and anarchy in the absence of international government
(Donnelly 2013, p. 32). Power is the key concept for realists and they argue that to survive, states
must increase their power by internal development such as in the economic

Strategic Rationale For The Acquisition Of Myer Holdings...
1 Strategic rationale for the acquisition of Myer Holdings Limited 1.1Growth motive The main
reason for this Mergers Acquisitions(M A) activity is the growing scale of Premier Investments
Limited (Premier). The target for acquisition is Myer Holdings Limited(Myer). Myer is an
important customer for Premier with significant common interest. And the competitor, Woolworths
South Africa(Woolworths) has already achieved the David Jones acquisition. Therefore, Premier
choose Myer as the target for acquisition. 1.1.1Growing scale and Geographic the acquisition of
Myer will greatly help Premier expand its retails into some new geographic regions and acquire
more capabilities faster with lower risk than developing them internally. M A activity does help
Premier get benefits on location from industry consolidation and acquire the control over supplier.
1.1.2 Competitive position For both Myer and Premier, the M A is an appropriate way to satisfy the
higher return for their shareholders and enhance their economic strength. In addition, Premier will
enhance its rate of innovation through acquiring new technology and intellectual property. Also,
Premier can diversify the company s products into some new market segments and attract new
customers and partners. Also, this M A activity can improve the market competitiveness of Premier
against other strong competitors in Australian market and such as Woolworths. 1.2Synergy The
acquisition of Myer has the robust view on synergy for

Risky Play Injury
Some types of play involve taking risks, which can lead to unintentional injury. Although there is
the factor of risk, these forms of play are vital to children s developmental process (Brussoni,
Olsen, Pike Sleet, 2012). The main type of play likely to lead to injury is physical play, described
by Brussoni, et al. (2012) as rough and tumble play (p. 3136). Physical play can involve over the
top rowdy activities that have the potential to cause injury(Brussoni, et al., 2012). A child benefits
from this kind of play as it helps them to form friendships, develop their mental and intellectual
capabilities and learn their limits amongst many other important areas of their development. If a

Educational training programmes regarding childhood safety are an important method for parents
to help prevent and reduce the risk of unintentional injuries in children (Smithson, Garside
Pearson, 2011). A study conducted by Brannen (1992, as cited in Smithson, et al., 2011) showed
an outcome that parents who participated in educational programmes in the community,
regarding home safety, were less likely to have a child obtain an injury. This was compared to
parents who received this information shortly after the birth of their child, resulting in a higher
risk of injury occurring to their child as this information was less likely to be recalled (Smithson,
et al., 2011). Considering this, parents should learn to recognise the significance of removing
hazards in the child s play environment but still leaving some risks in order for them to gain
important skills (Brussoni, et al., 2012). This allows the child to be involved in risky play, but in a
more controlled environment, which still has a minor factor of risk. This gives the child an
opportunity to assess a situation and choose the appropriate course of action concerning that
situation, therefor giving the child the opportunity to learn and improve on problem solving skills

Bill Beichick Persuasive Speech
At several points throughout someone s life, it is guaranteed that accusations will be made against
them. Some may be true, others may be false, but when they are made it is up to the accused to
prove themselves innocent. Within the past ten years, former Illinois governor, Rod Blagojevich,
and Head Coach of the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick faced adversity which came along with
accusations made against them. With the use of ethos, pathos, and logos, otherwise known as the
three rhetorical appeals, both gentlemen attempted to persuade others to believe in their innocence.
After reading both situations it is evident that by using his credibility, being very informative to his
discourse community, and sharing intellectual and emotional experience, Bill Belichick was far
more successful in accomplishing his persuasive purpose.
The ethos appeal is the author s persuasive power to use credibility in a rhetorical situation.
Within his press conference, Rob Blagojevich s tone in addressing the topic at hand suggests to
the audience that he is strong and confident in his words. By saying, I m not going to quit a job
the people hired me to do because of false accusations and a political lynch mob (Blagojevich 1),
he attempts to gain credibility by remaining firm and reminding the people of Illinois that they are

On the Nature of Creativity
On The Nature of Creativity All things created in over the many years is categorised as
something that s useful, valuable, clarity, innovative, novel or...creative. The two philosophers
Larry Briskman and Carl Huasman have written up an essay on their belief of what creativity is,
there understanding and notion of creativity both include a criteria to match for a product to be
creative. If creativity is based on criteria then we can agree that criteria are based on a set of
rules to abide with, and then if that s the case creativity is defined in an objective perspective.
Creativity has many views in this case the philosophers have explained in in a non psychological
way. Creativity is more based on a subjective and psychological view which will be explained in
detail later on in the essay. If creativity were to be assessed by criteria then creativity simply can t
be called creative . In other words this means if something is to be creative but has to be
evaluated by someone to be classified creative then how can we call this product a creative
product. As mentioned by David Jones any group of experts who claim to be able to objectively
identify the aesthetic value of a work must be mistaken. They can do no more than mutually
reinforce their own personal taste and preferences .(1) I see creativity as a personal belief of what
you see as an audience, you can t determine a product to be creative If it s not valuable or if it

Essay On Delirium
Delirium is a condition that is often treated by identifying and correcting the underlying etiology
(Townsend Morgan, 2017). This includes the healthcare team addressing if the patient was hypoxic,
took certain medications, or had a fluid and electrolyte imbalance that lead to the delirium
(Townsend Morgan, 2017). Medical treatment modalities for delirium involve select
pharmacological therapy for specific symptoms, but are not recommended (Townsend Morgan,
2017). Common pharmacological interventions include reducing symptoms of psychosisor
substance withdrawal (Townsend Morgan, 2017). Physicians prescribe anti psychotics such as
Haloperidol at a low dose to reduce the agitation associated with delirium (Townsend Morgan,
2017). Other medical treatment modalities for delirium include the use of anxiolytic agents such as
Benzodiazepines to reduce the occurrence of delirium associated with substance withdrawal
(Townsend Morgan, 2017). Lastly, as the delirious client becomes increasingly confused and
aggressive, other mechanical or chemical restraints may be implicated for overall safety measures
(Townsend Morgan, 2017).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Remaining with the client will aid in orientating them to their surroundings and reduce the anxiety
associated with the confusion (Townsend Morgan, 2017). Another nursing intervention implicated
for the delirious client involves providing a calm environment with minimal stimulus (Townsend
Morgan, 2017). Obtaining a low stimulus environment will minimize distractions associated with
the delirium and maintain clients comfort (Townsend Morgan, 2017). Lastly, promoting adequate
rest is an essential nursing intervention for a delirious patient (Townsend Morgan, 2017). Often,
delirium can progress from sleep deprivation, which correlates to impaired cognition from continual
stress on brain (Townsend Morgan,

Local Area Networks (LANs) Essay
Local area networks (LANs).
DEFINITION
The concept of local area networks (LANs) is not new. It represents a logical development of
computer technology. With the advent of microcomputers in the 1980s many office workers began
bringing their own disks into work, compromising data integrity. They also began keeping their
own databases, which companies did not like. The answer was to create a computer network.
A computer network is a group of computers connected together enabling users to share resources
and communicate with each other. Resources can be hardware, software, or data. Without a
network, each employee might require a dedicated printer connected to his workstation or
individual copies of application software ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cost for each wireless node is generally higher than a conventional LAN node.
LAN devices
Today, LANs use sophisticated programs that permit several users to work with the same
resources at the same time. This can include hard disk drives, printers, plotters, software, etc.
LANs are composed of various components performing specific tasks so each user can access
shared resources. Generally, every component in a network is called a node. Each node is further
identified by the specific task it performs. A user s node is called a terminal or a workstation. This
can be a
dumb device, meaning it has no operating system, just a monitor and keyboard, or a smart node,
meaning it can do it s own computing because of an internal central processor.
A server is a node on the network that provides services to the users of that network. A server
will manage hardware and software resources or monitor the exchange of information through a
network. Each server will respond to the requests of a user and provide a service, like printing a
document or retrieving a stored file. There are two basic types of servers: Dedicated and Non
dedicated. A dedicated server performs a specific task or function all the time where as a non
dedicated server functions in other capacities. A network with servers that are strictly dedicated is
called a Client Server Network.
A network where services are provided by user s

Poem Analysis- Robert Fross; Robert Browning; Anne Bradstreet
Robert Frost, Out,Out
1. In line 15, Frost describes the saw as being sinister. He infers that the saw has a mind of its
own, by stating that the saw jumped out of the boy s hand and cut the boy s hand terribly. Frost
also makes it seem as if the saw is in a way, like a friend. He does this by demonstrating that using
the saw is an advantage for the boy because it is making his job ten times easier. Without the saw,
the boy would spend hours cutting through the wood. 2. In Frost s poem, the people that surround
the boy must be his family. It could also very much be friends, or members of his community, along
with the doctor and nurses working on his injury. The tone of the poem leads me to conclude that

In other words, he, the Duke, controls the Duchess; or he wishes to control his Duchess. The Duke
wouldn t want anyone to see the portrait of his Duchess, with her blushed cheeks, unless he was
there. The same can be inferred from the last few lines of the poem, line 54 55, Notice Neptune,
though,/Taming a sea horse, thought a rarity,/ Which Claus of Innsbruck cast in bronze for me!
The Duke is implying, that he himself is Neptune, and his last Duchess is the sea horse. No one
could have imagined that a sea horse could be tamed, but Neptune achieved it. Identical to the way
that the last Duchess herself was tamed.
Adrienne Rich, Aunt Jennifer s Tigers,
In her poem, Aunt Jennifer s Tigers, Adrienne is describing the protagonist s feelings towards
her marriage. In lines 9 10, the protagonist feels that she is a prisoner of her marriage, and will
only be set free when she dies. The protagonist uses the tigers as a symbol of who she wished she
could be. In the first stanza of the poem, Adrienne describes the tigers as being un fearful of the
men. A trait she wishes she possessed.
Sharon Olds, Rite of Passage, 1. The speaker describes the first grade boys at her son s birthday
party as men. Their behavior is pure imitation of the men they have been around. Her description
of them is ironic, because how can first graders realistically be grown men? She also uses the
concept of violence a lot in the poem.

Escape In The Gulag
The absolute freedom to choose is a gift, especially in a Russian gulag. The freedom to choose is
not always given, and most of the time it has to be found. Absolute freedom of choice means
that you have all the freedom you need to make a decision that is wanted. The choices giving to
zeks at the time were slim to none at all. In fact most prisoners that had freedom, were willing to
risk their lives to have it. One example of this is Captain Buynovsky. One day, Captain was
ordered to take off the vest he had been wearing to keep him a little bit warmer, but his vest wasn t
against the rules. Captain, being the headstrong naval officer that he is, would not go down without
a fight and pulled out the rule book on the soldier. The reason this... Show more content on

Profound anxiety is unlike any other feeling, it is a crippling feeling that overtakes you soul and
makes the feeling of fear and regret. It makes a hopeless feeling in your soul one that is hard to
forget. One scene in the story that portrays anxiety is when Ivan puts the small blade he finds in his
mitten. One way of survival in the gulag is to use what you can find. When Ivan find a sharp piece
of steel on the ground, he takes it, and doesn t know where to hide it. As he gets closer to being
patted down by the guards, he decides that he should put it into his mitten. When he gets to the
front of the line, he starts to stress out thinking that the guards are going to find the blade. The
guard checked one mitten, was about to grab for the other mitten, and then got distracted and let
Ivan through the check. Another example was when one of the campers, Moldavian, got lost and
no guards could find him, which meant that all of the zeks had to stand outside, and wait until they
found him. They had to wait as long as it took, even if that meant missing dinner. This gave all of
the zeks one thing to think about, and that was missing dinner. Every person knew that missing a

The First Crusade And The Crusades
As the historian John Riley Smith points out The First Crusade was a violent and brutal episode
during which the crusaders cut out a swathe of suffering through Europe and Western Asia. In this
description of the First Crusade (1095/6 1099) Smith makes it difficult for us to see and, or
uncover any elements of pilgrimage in the crusaders actions. However, there are many different
ways in which the crusadeshave been described, the historian Christopher Tyerman on the other
hand, steers towards the idea that it is reasonable to label the Frist crusade as an armed Pilgrimage
as it showed a defining commitment to the church to accommodate the spiritual aspirations of the
laity . However, it s worth pointing out he labels other less sanctified ways in which the First
Crusadecould be described. The approach to answer the question for this essay will focus mainly
on whether the Crusaders joined and embarked on the First Crusade with the belief of it
representing an armed pilgrimage, as it seems important to focus on the origins of the crusades
in order to answer why it may be perceived so, after all every pilgrimage must start from
somewhere. However, in answering this question it s also important to consider other factors
such as the role of Pope Urban II, who has been labelled by some historians as playing a pivotal
role in crusaders participation and therefore the creation of the First Crusade and why it could be
perceived as an armed pilgrimage, or whether an

Sponge Research Paper
Sponges are creatures that many people do really take about, but the truth is that they are
fascinating. They are simple compared to many creatures on this planet, but such a simple
creature can have intriguing ways to function in life. They have so many different structures that
help collect food and allow water flow. Also, there are a few different morphologies that they
can take advantage of to survive. One of the most important factor to a sponge s survival is the
water flow velocity to area ratio. For a sponge to survive there are a few structures that water must
go through. To get inside the sponge, the water must travel through tiny holes called ostia. The
water then flows into an opening called the spongocoel, and finally out of the sponge through the
osculum. Inside the spongocoel are tiny flagella which capture the food particles necessary for the
sponge s survival. If the sponge is more complex than the pathway to the spongocoel is more
complex. This results in more flagella which will result in more food for the sponge.... Show more

If the spongocoel of the sponge is too large, there will be areas in the sponge where the water is
not circulating. If that happens, the amount of water flow and the feeding efficiency is lowered. If
the spongocoel is too small, there will not be that much water flow; therefore, the feeding
efficiency will still be low. To maximizing the amount of water flow and the feeding efficiency,
sponges have adapted their morphology. The three different types of morphology are asconoid,
syconoid, and leuconoid. The asconoid is the simplest structure while the leuconoid is the most
complex structure. The leuconoid is the most complex because it has more pathways to the
spongocoel which allows a higher feeding

How Far Do You Agree That Garibaldi Played a More Essay
How far do you agree that Garibaldi played a more important part than Cavour in the Unification of
Italy?
Garibaldi and Cavour were two very influential people in the unification for Italy and without them
the unification may not have occurred. Although they both ultimately wanted the same thing, the
unification of Italy, they went about it in different ways. Cavour was a highly intellectual man,
who orchestrated things from a political stand point ensuring good relations with countries like
France, of which without the unification may never have succeeded. Garibaldi on the other hand
was more of people s person, a leader of men who was very direct and his actions such as the taking
of Naples and Sicily allowed Italy to unite properly and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is one area where he differed from Garibaldi, as there was a point where Garibaldi s
popularity threatened the Risorgimento itself. However there is no doubting that Cavour was a
brilliant politician and improved Piedmont as a whole, making them modernised and by doing
this it may have created the possibility of Piedmont being a viable ally to France in Napoleons
eyes. He also stirred up anti Austrian beliefs in Piedmont and this helped make the state rally as a
whole. If there is one downfall of Cavour it is the fact that most of what he done was for Piedmont,
and seemed to rather extend Piedmont than make a united Italy, he perhaps could not appeal to the
impoverished states of the south. So in terms of looking at things as a whole his impact was limited
and although he made Piedmont very powerful in terms of uniting the whole of Italy it is
questionable just how important he was. But without him there wouldn t have been a friendship
with France that ultimately allowed Austria to be driven out, and without this unification wouldn t
have been possible.
Garibaldi on the other hand made his fame more through military exploits, showing himself to be a
great military leader and creating an image in the Italian people s mind of a true hero in which
everyone could get behind. He appealed to the people especially that of the south through his rough
upbringing

Analysis Of The Poem Dream Deferred
Pursuing Dreams
The overall meaning of this poem is about the consequences of not pursuing your dreams. For
some this can be a horrible thing while for others, it can be a blessing in disguise. The poem
begins with a simple question, What happens to a dream deferred (line 1)? What occurs when an
individual goes in another direction from a goal or ambition they had once desired? Does it cause a
weight to be lifted? Does it cause fear and anxiety? This poem focusing on the consequences or
benefits that are the result of a dream that goes unachieved. The speaker lays out the possible
different outcomes that would occur when someone gives up on their dreams. The first of the
possible scenarios is listed as Does it dry up / like a raisin in the sun (lines 3 4)? The dream
begins as a youthful, ambitious goal for life. This goal slowly begins to fade as the person ages.
Whether this is due to shifts in priorities or unforeseen circumstances, things have changed over
time. A dream that once seemed to be very achievable is now nothing more than a small memory in
the back of ones mind. The metaphor that is used here is a grape drying up to become a raisin,
just like their dreams can shrink down into a fraction of what they once were. The next scenario
is a how a deferred dream can affect you a little more harshly. The speaker asks, Or fester like a
sore / And then run (lines 4 5)? The sore that is mentioned can be thought of as more of a wound. It
is not so much the result

Virtual Meeting Platform Plays A Crucial Role
As technology is advancing, more tools have emerged in the workplaces to increase the
productivity and efficiency of the corporate. Large corporate nowadays has unemployed larger
ratio of human capital to decrease cost and most importantly, increase the efficiency because of
automation of technology. Arguments on regard to this has been going on and off constantly and
people all have a common question in mind, if the efficiency really means what it supposed to be?
Of all the technologies we are utilized currently, virtual meeting platform plays a crucial role. The
use of virtual meeting platform has significantly shorten the time employees spend on client s site,
decreased travel expenseand enable the employee to discuss with client at the convenience of their
home or office. However, bottom lines are not proving to increase significantly as expected due to
lack of personal contact (trust) value, learning value and group synergy gain value.
Review/Analysis of the Case According to Eilif Trondsen, He mentioned The trend toward a
virtual workplace is driven by growing numbers of workers spending too much time in the field,
interacting with customers, business partners, and collaborators and spending less time in
traditional office . Due to the costly time and expense on traveling to customer s site, most
corporates are not hesitated to switching to virtual meeting. Employer now can hire less people

History of Women in the Military
General Jeanne Holm was one of the very first women in the Air Force to achieve the rank of
General. Although in retirement now, she still is an important military figure. Her book, Women

have thus far played in the military. It was my primary source when researching the history
surrounding women in the military. Due to the fact that Holm s book is so detailed and in depth, I

Answer no.1
The core of business activity is to gain profit. As these profits are earned form ordinary business
activities, the profits are categorised as ordinary income for the business. However, there are some
cases and scenarios where the business activity may include courses of actions that are not usual for
the business nature. Here, we tried to find the consistency of ordinary income and the proceeds from
these unusual business decisions.
At first we need to assess the characteristics for ordinary income. Ordinary income is generated
from personal exertion (i.e. Salary income), property (rent, interest) and carrying out business
activities. According to ITAA 1997, section 6 5 (1) , the assessable income constitutes income
derived from ordinary concepts. There are some provisions listed under section 10 5 may be effect

Fort Lauderdale s Plastic And Reconstructive Surgeon
Fort Lauderdale s Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Dr. John Michael Thomassen can use chin
implants to increase the size of the chin or he can reduce the size and/or projection of a patient s
chin with a chin reduction surgery. With both of these procedures, Dr. Thomassen provides his
patients with a natural looking chin that is more proportionate to his or her other facial features.
The Chin Plays an Important Role in the Proportions of the Face
The chin greatly affects the overall appearance of the face; furthermore, the chin also plays an
important role in the way the patient s facial profile looks. For example, a chin that is
proportionately too small for the other features of the face can cause the size of the nose and
forehead to be exaggerated. Dr. John Michael Thomassen offers chin augmentationprocedures with

Chin Implants Are Used in Fort Lauderdale to Address a Weak Chin
Dr. Thomassen frequently performs chin augmentation procedures using chin implants to correct a
chin that is lacking adequate projection. This chin characteristic is referred to as a weak chin.
When a patient has a weak chin, his or her nose and forehead appear larger than they truly are.

Special Considerations for Branch Office Deployments
Microsoft has identified a number of special considerations for deploying Active Directory in
branch office environments. The characteristics of a branch office environment include:
В• A large number of physical locations that need to contain replicas of Active Directory data. В• A
small number of users per location. В• A hub and spoke network topology where many branch
offices rely on connectivity to a centralized hub site for communications to other parts of the
organization. В• Slow network connectivity between the branch office locations and the hub site.
Because of the ramifications of these requirements, Microsoft has developed additional content
focused on deploying Active Directory in branch office environments. The Active Directory Branch
Office Planning Guide is available on line at http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo
/planning/activedirectory/branchoffice/default.asp. This content is designed to be used together
with the Best Practice Active Directory Design for Managing Windows Networks guide as needed.

Cosmological Argument Research Paper
To what extent does The Cosmological Argument prove the existence of God?
There are many different arguments which attempt to help us understand more about the universe.
One of these arguments is the Cosmological Argument which is essentially an argument which
consists of 8 main arguments; things exist because of a cause, these things do not have to exist but
they do, the chain of causes goes back to the beginning of time, time began when the universe was
created, there must have been a first cause which is responsible for everything else including the
universe, the first cause must have a necessary existence, only God has necessary existence,
therefore God is the first cause of the universe s existence. The argument basically puts across ...

Scottish philosopher David Hume stated that we have no experience of universes being made.
This shows that one of the biggest flaws with the Cosmological Argument is that we are not
Gods and have never created anything as large or as complex as an entire universe. Hume also
maintained that just because we know that everything has a cause does not mean that we can
assume that the universe in its entirety is a result of something else. This continues his idea of
humans being incapable of understanding issues of such a large scale and that we are wasting
our time trying to do so therefore we should just assume that the universe simply exists because it
exists. This theory is very well thought out, as there is no tangible evidence that there is a single
entity which created the universe. A wise man proportions his belief to the evidence David Hume.
The quote shows that Hume would be not at all convinced with the Cosmological Argument unless
solid evidence of a creator were to be placed before him. This believe it when I see it attitude

Dead Men s Path is a short story written in 1972 by African Author Chinua Achebe. It is about

Essay On Anne Sexton
Context: Anne Sexton was an American poet born on November 9th, 1928 in Newton,
Massachusetts and raised in Weston. Her family was successful economically wise and Sexton was
raised in a middle class environment; however, Sexton s relationship with her parents were
extremely strained and perhaps abusive; her father was an alcoholic. It was suggested that Sexton
may have been sexually abused by her parents and felt that they were hostile to her. As such, Sexton
sought refuge in her close relationship with Anne Dingley, her maiden great aunt, as an escape from
her broken family, which further lead to Sexton s traumatization after Dingley s mental collapse and
subsequent hospitalization. After the birth of her first child in 1953, Sexton... Show more content on

For example, in the first stanza of the poem, Sexton invokes the objects that women are classified
into, such as my mouth and my breasts ... [and] the cosmetics and the silks (3 4). Sexton furthers
this with how she was tired of being a woman (1) and tired of the gender things (10). As the poem
progresses into the second stanza, Sexton s dream sequence, the theme of gender roles remains
prevalent. The poem delves into the injustice that women face in a world controlled by man, citing
the martyr and Catholic Saint, Joan of Arc, who was put to death with one of the charges being
wearing men s clothes. In addition, Sexton s will to rid herself of gender is also clear in the
third stanza, which she writes I lost my common gender and my final aspect. / Adam was on the
left of me / and Eve was on the right of me (28 30). This may be interpreted as a metaphor, as
Adam was the first male and Eve the first female human created by God as told by Christians, by
placing Sexton between them, it could be said that Sexton is neither male nor female, but one who
is freed from gender. The entire poem and many of its literary devices resonates strongly with the
poet s message; her hate of gender roles and identities. As such, Sexton effectively sent her central
argument to her reader.
Tone Mood:
Consorting With Angels begins with a frustrated and angry tone, with Sexton describing the

Reflection Paper In English
In my initial submission for Lesson 1, I recall being amused by the statement in the introduction of
Navigating English Grammar that humans have always been fascinated by language. Then, and
now, this still seems like an understatement to me. Language is an incredible facet to me and
humans of all ages. To consider that an infant can communicate with few words and more gestures
and then continue to develop the use of language as the number of words increase proves to be such
an interesting phenomenon which has an influence on a human s existence. This influence
permeates throughout language in formal or informal use. In that same lesson, I recall the
childhood influences upon my language development. Being a young Southern woman, a distinct
dialect permeated my childhood environments; from home, school, and small community, the slow,
slang filled conversations enlightened me in the ways of people around me. This information
partnered with the Grammar Quest proved that my own method of verbusage perplexed me. The
instruction received in my local elementary and middle school demonstrated an error in my
grandfather s way of speaking; therefore, my way of speaking did not follow prescriptive rules,
and additional instruction was deemed necessary. With this review and research of prior writings,
the use of verbs and verb forms used in a prescriptive nature proves to be an area of concern for my
own proper use of Standard English.
The following are samples of my own writing; The

The Themes Of Totalitarian Government In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Ayn Rand s Anthem is a dystopian novella, which means it addresses the dehumanization of
mankind usually by some kind of totalitarian government. That is true for this work as can be
seen by the following evidences; every character is nameless and is known only by a number
(the protagonist is Equality 7 2521, for example), no one is allowed to be distinguished from
anyone else (all men are brothers without any distinctions or divisions), all decisions are made for
the common man by Scholars and Councils (including each person s profession), thinking,
dreaming, and creating are strictly forbidden (and punishable crimes if they are discovered), being
alone is the greatest crime/sin (as that wrongly distinguishes one man from his brothers), work is
the greatest good (so anything that eases men s labor is a crime), and independent thinking is not
allowed (the only good is the collective good.) The theme of this work is relatively simple and has
two parts. When the individualI is absorbed into the collective we , men degenerate into mindless,
uncreative, and uninspired automatons who do nothing but live to work and die young and
exhausted. However, the spirit of freedom and individuality lives on even in such a world, and a
rare man will survive the oppression of the collective to create, think, dream, and love.
It is a sin to write this. It is a sin to think words no others think and to put them down upon a paper
no others are to see. It is base and evil. It is as if we

Deborah Blakely Research Paper
Background: Sarah Blakely, the founder and owner of Spanx, was born February 27, 1971 in
Clearwater, Florida. As a daughter of a trial attorney and artist, Blakely originally planned to
pursue a career in law. Though, due to poor LSAT scores she opted for a job at Disney World.
After Disney, Blakely accepted a job at an office supply company Danka where she sold fax
machines door to door. For this job, she was required to wear pantyhose. While she liked the
seamless undergarment with control top that eliminated panty lines , she disliked the seamed foot
while wearing open toed shoes. So one evening she experimented by cutting off the bottom of her
pantyhose and then wore them under a new pair of pants. Even though the pantyhose continuously

First, persistence is essential for success. She demonstrated how often you will be turned away
or rejected when starting a business but it s important to keep going. There were many times
she could have decided it was too much work or too hard. But instead, she continue to promote
her idea and kept pursuing individuals to help her reach her goal. From reading about her
success, it was clear she worked extremely hard to get where she is today and it came from a lot
persistence. The second lesson I learned from Blakely is to believe in yourself. She didn t have
any experience designing clothing or manufacturing a product, but she believed in herself. She did
the research into designing a patent, contacted several manufacturing mills (even driving across
state lines) and further promoted her product in stores. Even though she didn t have any financial
support or an established company behind her, she believed in her product and her capabilities.
The third lesson, it s not wrong to view your competition. In the past, I might have thought it was a
little cheating or considered sneaky to find the flaws in your competitors products. But realistically,
it s a very smart business move. She taught me look for opportunities even if it s comparing your
product to the competition. I believe this strategy really helped her product sell better than the other

Malcolm X Message Of Roots Speech Analysis
Would you think somebody murder was justified getting brutally killed in front of friends and
family? The assassination of Malcolm X was unjust because he was a civil right leader he also
was the leader for the nation and Islam. However other believed that he promoted violence.
Malcolm x was a civil right leader who wanted to do anything to fight for justice in the black
community .On December, 10, 1963 Malcolm gave a speech called Message of roots
In this speech, Malcom shows how dedicated he is about making an improvement in the black
community. Throughout the speech Malcolm talk about how the black community gets degraded
then he goes and say as I quote him saying usually, when people are sad, they just cry over their
condition but when they get angry they bring about a change{ Malcolm x December,10,1963 page

Little Italy Informative Speech
Hello everyone. Before I begin my presentation, I d like to talk about a phrase, which is, as you
see, Little Italy. Little Italy is a general name for an ethnic enclave populated primarily by Italians
or people of Italian ancestry. These enclaves became known for their ethnic associations, and cities
with Little Italyblossomed, becoming the icons they are today.
The city I m going to talk about is the region with the greatest amount of Little Italies in America,
the New York City. Thus, the topic today is Italian Americans in NYC.
Before World War One, people in Southern Italy had a hard time. Due to tax burden, soil erosion
and military conscription lasting seven years, a large exodus left from southern Italy heading to the
USA. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This trend has continued to the present day. The stereotype of Italian Americans has been fostered
especially through commercially successful movies like The Godfather, Goodfellas and Casino;
and TV programs such as The Sopranos. In actuality, as recent FBI statistics shows, only one IA in
6,000 has any involvement with organized crime.
The mass media has consistently ignored five centuries of Italian American history, and has
elevated what was never more than a minute subculture to the dominant Italian American culture.
Of course IA in NYC protested against the negative portrayal of their community and sued the
producers but failed most of the time. To be exact, not only Italian Americans in New York City
protested against the stereotype, it s a problem in the whole country. It s kind of a dilemma as the
stereotype has rooted in the mind of Americans and even people in other countries. That leaves us a
problem to solve in the future.
Let s drop this topic for a moment, and focus on the last point

Taking a Look at Flu H5N1
################################################# Part 2
################################### There are multiple different sources for
epidemiological measures used for tracking and reporting the number of cases. There are
websites where you can go to post confirmed cases in areas, where that information is then taken
and calculated. There are also places that provide charts for the amount of confirmed outbreaks
and then separates them from human cases and avian cases. But the best types of reports
available are the map tracking ones. Where they give distinction marks for avian and human
cases and all over the different areas of the world. This is very handy for seeing how bad and
large an outbreak is and what species is affected, whether it is humans or birds. The incidence rate
is a measure of morbidity and number of infected worldwide, looking over the past 10 years. Over
the past ten years there have 650 infected.(Yu Chan, 2014). This is not a large number because of
the fact it is not spread through human to human contact but through already infected poultry. The
prevalence rate is the number of current/existing cases worldwide. The United Stateshas yet to have
a confirmed outbreak because we set such high regulations on the meat we sell in our markets, thus
preventing a large outbreak from hitting our country. The mortality rate is the number of deaths
caused by the H5N1 virus worldwide. For

Von Neumann architecture, or the Von Neumann model, stems...
Von Neumann architecture, or the Von Neumann model, stems from a 1945 computer architecture
description by the physicist, mathematician, and polymath John von Neumann and others. This
describes a design architecture for an electronic digital computer with a control unit containing an
instruction register and program counter , external mass storage, subdivisions of a processing unit
consisting of arithmetic logic unit and processor registers, a memory to store both data and
commands, also an input and output mechanisms. The meaning of the term has grown to mean a
stored program computerin which a command fetch and a data operation cannot occur at the same
time because they share a common bus. This is commonly referred to as the Von... Show more

Add the span or extent of the instruction to the program counter.
Interpret the instruction using the control unit. Meanwhile, The control unit commands the rest of
the computer to perform some type of operation. The instruction may change the address in the
program counter, thus permitting repetitive operations. The instruction may also change the
program counter . this is done only if some arithmetic condition is true, thus giving the effect of a
decision, which can be calculated to any degree of complexity by the preceding arithmetic and logic.
Once all of this is done, it is programed to go back to step 1.
The design of The Von Neumann architectureis a little more straightforward than the more modern
Harvard architecture. It too is a stored program system; nevertheless, it has one dedicated set of
address and data buses for reading data from and imprinting data to memory, and an additional set of
address and data buses for obtaining instructions. Von Neumann devoted most of his Preliminary
Discussion to the design of the arithmetic unit. The details of this are the least interesting part of the
paper from the standpoint of the organization of his computer, and its influence on future
developments. The capabilities of the arithmetic unit were limited to the performance of some
arbitrary subset of the possible arithmetic operations. He observes that the

Dinner For My Family
Thanksgiving dinner for my family has always been rather interesting. It starts off with me
sleeping in as late as I can before someone decides to ruin the morning and wake me up. My
family has a tradition that is followed every year for Thanksgiving. After I get woken up by
someone, I manage to stomp up the steps and stumble into the shower without saying anything to
a single person who is at my house, and by the time I get up, there is usually about 15 20 people
already. I enter the shower and just let the hot water run onto myself, because it will usually put me
into a better mood. After spending about twenty minutes in the bathroom while showering and
brushing my teeth I walk myself back down the steps into my room to get my day started. After
getting dressed into my famous Thanksgiving attire which consists of black Nike sweatpants with a
Philadelphia Eagles hoodie on, I then come ack upstairs to the awful smell of the pumpkinpie. It
smells stinky, I said, wrinkling my nose as I turned over the hard, pockmarked resin in my palm.
Like a... I giggled, unable to say the rude word (Narayan 18). That is usually exactly how I am
feeling about the smell of the pumpkin pie my grandma hand makes. I know that the pumpkin pie
is a packet of powder flavored with pumpkin poured into a pre made crust that she bought from the
grocery store the night before. However, she always finds a way to get the entire familyto believe
that it is her secret recipe. During this time of the day,

  • 2. Stereotypes Of Ethnic Entrepreneurs As with female entrepreneurs, ethnic entrepreneurs also face huge stereotypes that affect their enterprises. They include the stereotypes that ethnic entrepreneurs only enter markets that need low capital and education levels, are on a small scale with high labor and very little value. It is also commonly thought that ethnic entrepreneurs only start their own businesses because they do not have a chance being employed, and therefore start their organizations to make ends meet. So the common generalization about ethnic entrepreneurs is that they are under educated people who started their own organizations because they could not get gainful employment. Blanchflower et al. 1998, presented evidence from their research on black and white owned... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Limiting ethnic entrepreneurs to particular industries, or excluding them from white dominated industries such as construction, which is known to be exclusive to a network affects the rate at which ethnic entrepreneurs break out of their expected industry into others. They find it difficult to break into the exclusive bond or network created by among the industry members after many years of segregation patterns (Geagin and Imani, 1994). Ethnic entrepreneurs therefore face a lot of discriminatory encounters when they venture into the industries and therefore do not survive most of the time. Although much research has been launched into women entrepreneurship and immigrant and minority entrepreneurship as separate topics, there does not seem to be much focus on entrepreneurs who fit into both categories, the ethnic female entrepreneur. This profile covers a woman of ethnic background who launches an organization to create innovative solutions for profit. Owing to the fact that they belong to two categories that face the most challenges in entrepreneurial pursuits, it is necessary to find out how their special circumstance acts as a barrier to their ... • 3. The Common Causes Of Weight Loss One of the most common causes of weight loss is diabetes, this can range from a couple of pounds to two three stone. Weight loss is usually due to the increased metabolism and breakdown of muscle and fat due to insulin deficiency. Fluid depletion can also cause weight loss from both Polydipsia and Polyuria. When an individual presents with these features it is important for them to be picked up quickly otherwise Ketoacidosis can occur which may be fatal. Ketones are made up of acetone and two organic acids beta hydroxybutyric acid and acetoacetic acid. The liver and other cells can only process limited amounts of fatty acids, lipids and ketones at any given time, any excess of keytones is then secreted into the blood causing ketoacidosis. The binding of ketoacids and bicarbonate buffers within the blood, leading to an eventual decrease of PH in the blood due to decreased levels of serum bicarbonate (Gould and Dyer, 2011: 551). As dehydration occurs within the kidneys the demand on glomerular filtration decreases and so to does the excretion of acids leading to decompensated metabolic acidosis. Diabetic ketoacidosis or hyperosmolar coma are mostly due to the hyperosmolarity of the blood, secondary to hyperglycemiaand the result of this can be fatal if not treated within a short period of time Less obvious presentation includes tiredness and weakness which is very common in uncontrolled diabetes. Alongside these presenting features comes visual blurring and fungal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Teaching New Recruitment Strategies For The Hospital s... Over the course of the past two years the patients of the City hospital have aired their disapproval of the rude and disrespectful behavior of the patient escorts which has had an adverse effect on the hospital s image and reputation. As the patients last point of contact, their role is crucial and can make or break the patients perception of the hospital and the care they have received. Such reputation will also negatively impact the economy of the hospital in the long run. At the hospital administrator s request, a meeting was held to address this problem and develop new recruitment strategies for finding kind and caring escorts with interpersonal skills and overturning this situation. Firstly, it was suggested that the application blank should be more specific and reflect the culture of the hospital as the current application blank does not provide a true insight to the prospective employee s personality, likes, dislikes etc. I agree with this suggestion as an application blank is for many businesses the second most common hiring tool after personal interviews (1). A customized application blank will allow a more effective initial screening and a deeper understanding of the applicants personality traits , providing that the employer have done a thorough job analysis and is fully familiar with the specific characteristics of the job (1). The chief supervisor also suggested that the candidates should provide three recommendations, attesting to the applicant s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Sigmund Freud Theories Sigmund Freud s Theories in Relation to Brave New World One might imagine, what could truly constitute A brave new world? What parameters must that world fall within? What decisive mind is manning the ship headed toward this utopia? Certainly, this world has seen innumerous attempts, heard the many strident voices, which barreled forth and propelled society toward that image. One of those voices belonged to Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, and even, perhaps, a deity of this brave new world. Sigmund Freud was born May 6th, 1856, in Frieberg, Moravia to a textile dealer named Jacob Freud (Chiriac, Jean, Sigmund Freud s Childhood ). He was one of eight children, five sisters and three brothers. The family lived in Frieberg until Sigmund was four years old, when the family then moved to Vienna where Sigmund would remain for the vast majority of his life. By 1873, Freud would go on to study medicine at the University of Vienna. Freud went get engaged in 1882, to a women who would bear him six children. The relationship has been largely considered and happy, prosperous union (Thornton, Stephan). In 1938, shortly after the Annexation of Austria, Freud s home in Vienna was raided by Nazis. Any of Freud s works written before May of 1933 were burned for their flippant destigmatization of sexuality ( Sigmund Freud and the Holocaust ). • 6. Viviparity In To Kill A Mockingbird Introduction Viviparity (live birth) is a highly uncommon form of reproduction in the insect world, those that do have this type of reproduction fall into two main groups: those who have a high offspring rates and those who have low offspring rates. Viviparity, while uncommon, does serve a distinct purpose. In some cases the insect has very few ovarioles to begin with, in which case, it is essential for the offspring to be given the best chances at survival they can get. Ovoviviparity is a type of viviparity where the developing embryos are carried in a pouch or an outgrowth of genital ducts and is most commonly known in the cockroach families (Huffaker, 1999, p. 149). This type of viviparity is less taxing on the female since the developing young are not directly sustaining themselves off her body as they do in true viviparity. Aphids on the other hand use a strange method known as telescoping generations . The term telescoping generations , according to Capinera (2008), refers to the fact that a mother can have in her ovarioles developing embryos which in turn also contain embryos or future granddaughters (p. 195). This is an advantage since as soon as they become adults they are able to reproduce immediately due to the fact that they already had developing embryos in them (Capinera, 2008, p.1104). While viviparity commonly has a low reproductive rate there are such insects, like cockroaches and aphids, which are able to use this form of reproduction to their advantage to produce higher numbers of ... • 11. Leadership Theory And Leadership Theories Essay The basis upon which effective leaders are empowered does not always equate with placing the right person in the position; in fact, the extent to which leadership theories merely provide an outline of what is expected of a good leader is both grand and far reaching. Just as a simple job description only scratches the surface of finding the right employee, the overall impact of a leader cannot be solely hinged upon the oft inadequate specifics of leadershiptheories. Anyone can follow the guidelines of a given leadership theory and carry out the compulsory specifications, however, there are myriad more innate qualifications to effective leadership than what can either be taught from or redeemed by a simple list of qualifications. II. THEORIES AND LEADERS Determining what it takes to become a good leader receptively influential, compassionate, communicative, dynamic has long been up for debate between/among those who support various theories. The former relies upon a patriarchal disposition, while the latter draws from a viewpoint of such characteristics being inborn. Educational training programmes regarding childhood safety are an important method for parents to help prevent and reduce the risk of unintentional injuries in children (Smithson, Garside Pearson, 2011). A study conducted by Brannen (1992, as cited in Smithson, et al., 2011) showed an outcome that parents who participated in educational programmes in the community, regarding home safety, were less likely to have a child obtain an injury. This was compared to parents who received this information shortly after the birth of their child, resulting in a higher risk of injury occurring to their child as this information was less likely to be recalled (Smithson, et al., 2011). Considering this, parents should learn to recognise the significance of removing hazards in the child s play environment but still leaving some risks in order for them to gain important skills (Brussoni, et al., 2012). This allows the child to be involved in risky play, but in a more controlled environment, which still has a minor factor of risk. The two philosophers Larry Briskman and Carl Huasman have written up an essay on their belief of what creativity is, there understanding and notion of creativity both include a criteria to match for a product to be creative. If creativity is based on criteria then we can agree that criteria are based on a set of rules to abide with, and then if that s the case creativity is defined in an objective perspective. They are simple compared to many creatures on this planet, but such a simple creature can have intriguing ways to function in life. They have so many different structures that help collect food and allow water flow. Also, there are a few different morphologies that they can take advantage of to survive. One of the most important factor to a sponge s survival is the water flow velocity to area ratio. For a sponge to survive there are a few structures that water must go through. To get inside the sponge, the water must travel through tiny holes called ostia. The water then flows into an opening called the spongocoel, and finally out of the sponge through the osculum. Inside the spongocoel are tiny flagella which capture the food particles necessary for the sponge s survival. If the sponge is more complex than the pathway to the spongocoel is more complex. There was a small grey metal lamp on the desk illuminating the files in two neat piles on the desk; one was labeled outgoing and the other incoming. There was a grey metal filing cabinet behind the desk also. The only real source of color in the room came from an ancient blue Navajo rug in the middle of the office. Aside from these few pieces of furniture, there was nothing else in the room, and it conveyed the exact feeling Soy wanted it to, that of a prison. For some this can be a horrible thing while for others, it can be a blessing in disguise. The poem begins with a simple question, What happens to a dream deferred (line 1)? What occurs when an individual goes in another direction from a goal or ambition they had once desired? Does it cause a weight to be lifted? Does it cause fear and anxiety? This poem focusing on the consequences or benefits that are the result of a dream that goes unachieved. The speaker lays out the possible different outcomes that would occur when someone gives up on their dreams. The first of the possible scenarios is listed as Does it dry up / like a raisin in the sun (lines 3 4)? The dream begins as a youthful, ambitious goal for life. This goal slowly begins to fade as the person ages. Whether this is due to shifts in priorities or unforeseen circumstances, things have changed over time. A dream that once seemed to be very achievable is now nothing more than a small memory in the back of ones mind. The metaphor that is used here is a grape drying up to become a raisin, just like their dreams can shrink down into a fraction of what they once were. The next scenario is a how a deferred dream can affect you a little more harshly. The speaker asks, Or fester like a sore / And then run (lines 4 5)? After examining issues such as pregnancy, sexual harassment, and rape, Mance concludes that as a society we must continue to strive for gender equality. From the storm lashed decks of the Mayflower to the present hour, women have stood like a rock for the welfare and glory of the history of our country . . . and one might well add: unwritten, unrewarded, and unrecognized. History of Women in the Military General Jeanne Holm was one of the very first women in the Air Force to achieve the rank of General. With both of these procedures, Dr. Thomassen provides his patients with a natural looking chin that is more proportionate to his or her other facial features. The Chin Plays an Important Role in the Proportions of the Face The chin greatly affects the overall appearance of the face; furthermore, the chin also plays an important role in the way the patient s facial profile looks. For example, a chin that is proportionately too small for the other features of the face can cause the size of the nose and forehead to be exaggerated. There are many different arguments which attempt to help us understand more about the universe. One of these arguments is the Cosmological Argument which is essentially an argument which consists of 8 main arguments; things exist because of a cause, these things do not have to exist but they do, the chain of causes goes back to the beginning of time, time began when the universe was created, there must have been a first cause which is responsible for everything else including the universe, the first cause must have a necessary existence, only God has necessary existence, therefore God is the first cause of the universe s existence. This continues his idea of humans being incapable of understanding issues of such a large scale and that we are wasting our time trying to do so therefore we should just assume that the universe simply exists because it exists. This theory is very well thought out, as there is no tangible evidence that there is a single entity which created the universe. A wise man proportions his belief to the evidence David Hume. Sexton furthers this with how she was tired of being a woman (1) and tired of the gender things (10). As the poem progresses into the second stanza, Sexton s dream sequence, the theme of gender roles remains prevalent. The poem delves into the injustice that women face in a world controlled by man, citing the martyr and Catholic Saint, Joan of Arc, who was put to death with one of the charges being wearing men s clothes. In addition, Sexton s will to rid herself of gender is also clear in the third stanza, which she writes I lost my common gender and my final aspect. / Adam was on the left of me / and Eve was on the right of me (28 30). This may be interpreted as a metaphor, as Adam was the first male and Eve the first female human created by God as told by Christians, by placing Sexton between them, it could be said that Sexton is neither male nor female, but one who is freed from gender. The entire poem and many of its literary devices resonates strongly with the poet s message; her hate of gender roles and identities. Reflection Paper In English In my initial submission for Lesson 1, I recall being amused by the statement in the introduction of Navigating English Grammar that humans have always been fascinated by language. Then, and now, this still seems like an understatement to me. Language is an incredible facet to me and humans of all ages. To consider that an infant can communicate with few words and more gestures and then continue to develop the use of language as the number of words increase proves to be such an interesting phenomenon which has an influence on a human s existence. This influence permeates throughout language in formal or informal use. In that same lesson, I recall the childhood influences upon my language development. Being a young Southern woman, a distinct dialect permeated my childhood environments; from home, school, and small community, the slow, slang filled conversations enlightened me in the ways of people around me. This information partnered with the Grammar Quest proved that my own method of verbusage perplexed me. The theme of this work is relatively simple and has two parts. When the individualI is absorbed into the collective we , men degenerate into mindless, uncreative, and uninspired automatons who do nothing but live to work and die young and exhausted. The incidence rate is a measure of morbidity and number of infected worldwide, looking over the past 10 years. Over the past ten years there have 650 infected.(Yu Chan, 2014). This is not a large number because of the fact it is not spread through human to human contact but through already infected poultry. The prevalence rate is the number of current/existing cases worldwide. The United Stateshas yet to have a confirmed outbreak because we set such high regulations on the meat we sell in our markets, thus preventing a large outbreak from hitting our country. The mortality rate is the number of deaths caused by the H5N1 virus worldwide. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. Von Neumann architecture, or the Von Neumann model, stems... Von Neumann architecture, or the Von Neumann model, stems from a 1945 computer architecture description by the physicist, mathematician, and polymath John von Neumann and others. This describes a design architecture for an electronic digital computer with a control unit containing an instruction register and program counter , external mass storage, subdivisions of a processing unit consisting of arithmetic logic unit and processor registers, a memory to store both data and commands, also an input and output mechanisms. The meaning of the term has grown to mean a stored program computerin which a command fetch and a data operation cannot occur at the same time because they share a common bus. This is commonly referred to as the Von... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Add the span or extent of the instruction to the program counter. Interpret the instruction using the control unit. Meanwhile, The control unit commands the rest of the computer to perform some type of operation. The instruction may change the address in the program counter, thus permitting repetitive operations. The instruction may also change the program counter . this is done only if some arithmetic condition is true, thus giving the effect of a decision, which can be calculated to any degree of complexity by the preceding arithmetic and logic. Once all of this is done, it is programed to go back to step 1. The design of The Von Neumann architectureis a little more straightforward than the more modern Harvard architecture. It too is a stored program system; nevertheless, it has one dedicated set of address and data buses for reading data from and imprinting data to memory, and an additional set of address and data buses for obtaining instructions. Von Neumann devoted most of his Preliminary Discussion to the design of the arithmetic unit. The details of this are the least interesting part of the paper from the standpoint of the organization of his computer, and its influence on future developments. The capabilities of the arithmetic unit were limited to the performance of some arbitrary subset of the possible arithmetic operations. He observes that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Dinner For My Family Thanksgiving dinner for my family has always been rather interesting. It starts off with me sleeping in as late as I can before someone decides to ruin the morning and wake me up. My family has a tradition that is followed every year for Thanksgiving. After I get woken up by someone, I manage to stomp up the steps and stumble into the shower without saying anything to a single person who is at my house, and by the time I get up, there is usually about 15 20 people already. I enter the shower and just let the hot water run onto myself, because it will usually put me into a better mood. After spending about twenty minutes in the bathroom while showering and brushing my teeth I walk myself back down the steps into my room to get my day started. After getting dressed into my famous Thanksgiving attire which consists of black Nike sweatpants with a Philadelphia Eagles hoodie on, I then come ack upstairs to the awful smell of the pumpkinpie. It smells stinky, I said, wrinkling my nose as I turned over the hard, pockmarked resin in my palm. Like a... I giggled, unable to say the rude word (Narayan 18). That is usually exactly how I am feeling about the smell of the pumpkin pie my grandma hand makes. I know that the pumpkin pie is a packet of powder flavored with pumpkin poured into a pre made crust that she bought from the grocery store the night before. However, she always finds a way to get the entire familyto believe that it is her secret recipe. During this time of the day, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
