Inaccuracies In Selma
Selma was a movie released at the end of 2014 which portrayed the struggles Martin Luther King,
Jr. and others working closely with him had trying to get the black right to vote in Selma, Alabama.
The movie portrays many clear points, and has largely accurate information. However, in the movie
Selma, there are some clear inaccuracies in the movie that were created to further the plot
The film Selma takes place during the Civil Rights Movement in Selma, Alabama during 1965.
However, there were more struggles going on in the United States than just the black civil rights
movement led by Martin Luther King, Jr. Mexican Americans struggled for fair wages at their jobs
as migrant workers, and the United States fought an ideological war abroad in ... Show more content

Section 4 established a formula for Congress to use when determining if a state or voting
jurisdiction requires prior approval before changing its voting laws (Brunner, Haney, Timeline).
The Voting Rights Act, which was initially brought before Congress almost directly because of
the Selma to Montgomery march led by MLK, was slightly adjusted to be more fair to all races.
Because this was slightly adjusted, it may have brought people back in time to wondering about
the actual civil rights movement, and what it took to get such a law passed. Selma demonstrated
fairly accurately all the hardships necessary to procure such a law. In general, the American public
was likely beginning to shift to a focus on civil liberties again, rather than the harsh post 9/11

Mental Health Act Analysis
The first piece of legislation which supported individual with mental health was the Mad House
Act (1774). This piece of legislation was ineffective as it resulted in negative outcomes for
individuals with mental and physical disabilities, as they were treated in an undignified way in
cramped and unsubstantial conditions being viewed by the public for a penny. However, the
Lunacy Act (1845 1930) was a more positive outcome, making it a legal requirement for county
owned asylum to be inspected and had to have licenses for best practice and to promote the rights
of the patients within and outside the facility, although, this was not the case in some facilities
where failure and low morale caused negative impacts to the patients treatments (Lester, 2010).
Furthermore, in the 1900 s the Mental Deficiency Health Act came into implementation in (1913
1938) where children and vulnerable adults would have been placed institutional settings, until the
amendment to the Mental Health Act (1959). This act abolished the categories of legal distinction
of mental health and prevented those who did not need to go for example, a mother who is unwed
and had repeated amount of children as they were seen to be defective (Pilgrim, D, 2014). The

The Old Testament Is More Powerful Than The Old Testament
It has become a theme for people to refer more to the New Testament than to the Old Testament,
when trying to answer issues about their daily lives. This is becoming a trend because it appears to
be logical that the New Testament would be more applicable to our lives than the Old Testament is,
since it was written more recently than the Old Testament. Although this is a persistent theme in
our culture, this should not be the case because the Old Testament should be held as just as
authoritative as the New Testament, if not more so. I think that the Old Testament should be
considered authoritative for the Christian and included in formulating our beliefs, because the Old
Testament tells of the beginning of the Christian faith. Although the... Show more content on

Brueggemann states, The Torah occupies the primary place of authority, significance, and
influence in the mediation of Yahweh s purpose, presence, and power to Israel. Through this quote
it is seen how important the Torah is to us, it holds the laws that we are to follow as God s people.
The Ten Commandments are something that is taught to everyone that attends Sunday school,
these are a list of things that God gave to Moses that we should not do in order to fully follow God
in our lives. I think that these laws being contained in the Old Testament along with other
provisions that God provides for His people shows that the Old Testament is authoritative. I think
that the Old Testament should be considered authoritative also because everything that is written
down was fully from God and inspired by God. The Old Testament contains the things that God
wanted to fully communicate to His people so that they would see His character and learn what He
wanted from them, this fact makes the Old Testament authoritative for Christians. This also shows
why the Old Testament should be consulted when formulating beliefs because we see the nature of
God and the love that He has for His people throughout the Old Testament. This is seen through
how many times God relents on His people when they should have been punished for their

The Problem Of Arson Investigation
Arson investigation began sometime in the mid 1970 s, and has been a process changed and
evolved ever since. The act of arson consists of purposely setting or starting a fire on someone s
property, and can be for a number of reasons anywhere from vandalism, excitement or serial arson,
to revenge, extremism or crime concealment (Newton, M., 15). Some previously proven indicators
pointing as to whether or not a fireis an act of arson has been questioned, further researched and
tested. Many of these theories have stated that certain markings, post fire, could only appear due an
accelerant being used to help engage the fire or intensify it, though recently many of these theories
have been debunked. The truth behind some of these markings... Show more content on

One of the most misleading processes that can lead to a wrongful conviction is a term called
flashover. Flashover is what seemingly happens when an entire room is engulfed in fire, and
flames protrude from openings within the building. The process occurs in an enclosed space
when particles and combustible gases begin to cluster close to the ceiling, and then slowly fall
towards the floor. At this point, it is likely that an accumulation of air would rush into the room
through windows, doors or other cavities, and ignite the muddle of particles and gases (Starr,
2011). As this process was not realized until later when arson investigation became more
developed, many explanations as to whether an accelerant was used to start a fire have been
recently proven to be more than likely due to the effects of a flashover. Some of these beliefs were
that melted metals, especially those in or near doorways, burn marks under pieces of furniture, or
on the floor were a sure sign that a liquid accelerant was used to start the fire. Detectives believed
melted metals were a sign of a liquid accelerant because they thought that temperatures high enough
to melt these types of metals were unattainable without an accelerant. In reality, wood fires
commonly reach and exceed the melting point of metals, especially once they hit

Jonas In The Giver By Lois Lowry
The Giver Essay
Imagine a society that you can not drive a way from and leave. A society where there are no
emotions and no choices that you can make and everything is given to you. Your food, your job,
your home, and even your family. Climate is controlled, your every move is monitored, and there
are never any problems. This is a utopia or a perfect society, where there are never any problems.
The Giver by Lois Lowry tells the story of what goes on in Jonas s life. Jonas is an eleven year old
boy about to be twelve. He has been given a special assignment or job. Jonas changes throughout
The Giver and as a result, tries to change the community.

Gender Stereotypes In Trifles By Susan Glaspell
In earlier cultures, women s job was to bear children, cook, clean, and to be submissive to their
husband. A man s job was to work, take care of the farm, and was to be the dominant individual in
the marriage. With both the husband and wife doing their daily duties, the household would go
smoothly. However, certain men in the 19th centurybegan to degrade women. Making women feel
worthless and unimportant. Wives, daughters and sisters were left at home all day to oversee the
domestic duties that were increasingly carried out by servants (The British Library). In the play
Trifles, the play writer wants the audience to believe that stereotypes is inappropriate because it is
wrong to assume something about an individual based solely on their gender. Throughout this play,
written by Susan Glaspell, there are several instances where both genders were not portrayed as
equal. In the play, Hale stated Well, women are used to worrying over trifles (Glaspell, 25). The
word trifles means something unimportant or of little value (Webster s II New College
Dictionary). Here, Hale is basically saying that women worry over the small things in life,
instead of focusing on what really matters. Later on in the play, the women focusing over trifles
is of great benefit to the women, and it allows the women to have an upper hand over the men.
Traditionally a middle class girl in Western culture tended to learn from her mother s example
that cooking, cleaning, and caring for children was the behavior expected of her when she grew
up (WIC Women s History in America). This statement links to the play in many different ways.
It is evident that the women had the job of making sure the house looked presentable to any
family and/or guests that entered the home. In the play, the County Attorney says Dirty towels!
Not much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies? (Glaspell, 25). In this line, it is evident that
the County Attorney expected that Mrs. Wright should have always had clean towels under the
sink instead of dirty ones. It is then that Mrs. Hale chimed in to say Those towels het dirty awful
quick. Men s hands aren t always as clean as they might be (Glaspell, 25). Here, Mrs. Hale is trying

Marriage To Survive In Daniel Defoe’S Moll Flanders. Although
Marriage to Survive in Daniel Defoe s Moll Flanders
Although the central concerns of women during the eighteen century was of courtship and
marriage, social graces, and dignity, money was also a very important concern. Many of the female
characters in eighteenth century novels are portrayed as intensely aware of finances and markedly
interested in the getting and keeping of money (Scheuermann, 311). Daniel Defoe s fictional
heroine, Moll Flanders is always thinking in economic terms and looking for financial stability. She
must base her romantic relationships on money, rather than mutual affection. Marriage, for Moll, is
a way to survive. This suggests that women could not be self sufficient in England s eighteenth

The first time that he gave her five guineas, she admitted, I was more confounded with the Money
than I was before with the Love, and began to be so elevated, that I scarce knew that ground that I
stood on (62). When he eventually gave her one hundred guineas, she made no more Resistance
to him, but let him do just what he pleas d; and as often as he pleas d (24). She did not think of
the money as a bribe to keep her quiet, but more as evidence of that the young man truly loved
her. She does not realize that he only sees her as a sexual escapade.
In eighteenth century England, everyone was incredibly conscious of their social positions.
Consequently, the rich rarely married the poor (Heyck, 47 64). Thus, when the younger brother
(Robin) told everyone that he was in love with Moll, his family, and even Moll, thought that he
was insane. She had nothing; no social status or dowry. He proposed and Moll accepted because
she finally understood that the man that she loved truly did not want to marry her. Defoe, who, in
Conjugal Lewdness writes, to marry one Woman and love another, to marry one Man and be in

The Great Gatsby Weather Analysis
In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the weather sets a mood or follows the
emotion of the novel. Many people Change their mood in certain weather conditions, and in this
novel, the weather is symbolic of the mood in the novel. Fitzgerald uses the rainy weather in this
novel to symbolize several things. For example, on the day that Gatsby plans to meet with Daisy, it
is raining before they meet. The day agreed upon was pouring rain. At eleven o clock a man in a
raincoat dragging a lawn mower tapped at my front door and said that Mr. Gatsby had sent him
over to cut my grass. (Fitzgerald 88). In this situation, the rain represents an anxious and

The next day was broiling, almost the last, certainly the warmest, of the summer. As my train
emerged from the tunnel into the sunlight, only the hot whistles of the National Biscuit Company
broke the simmering hush at noon. The straw seats of the car hovered on the edge of combustion;
the woman next to me perspired delicately for a while into her white shirtwaist and then, as her
newspaper dampened under her fingers, lapsed despairingly into the deep heat with a desolate cry
(120 121). This symbolizes the upcoming conflict and foreshadows the climax of emotions that are
to come, with the confrontation in the suite, Daisy s rejection, and Myrtle s death. The heat also
shows the mix and confusion of emotions in Daisy, and Daisy recognizes that ... it s so hot ... And
everything s so confused ... (125). This quote symbolizes Daisy and Gatsby s relationship. It is
when the weather is at it s hottest that Gatsby s and Daisy s relationship reaches a climax. Also
when Nick, Gatsby, Daisy, Jordan, and Tom are all sitting in the Plaza, the book describes the
daytime to also be unbearably hot. Oh, let s have fun, she begged him. It s too hot to fuss. He
didn t answer (126). This quote shows that as the weather progressively gets hotter so does the
tempers of Gatsby and Tom. The heat, in this case, symbolizes the way that hatred between Daisy s

Demographic Transition Essay
The demographic transition has been closely accompanied by an epidemiological transition in
the area of health, that is, a change in the profile of morbidity and mortality by cause, and the
distribution of deaths by age. This transition is apparent in the percentage reduction in deaths
caused by transmissible (respiratory, infectious and parasite borne) diseases and in those in the
perinatal period, giving rise to a relative predominance of deaths caused by chronic and
degenerative diseases (of the circulatory apparatus and malignant tumors), as well as external
causes (caused by violence, accidents and injuries). This reflects both the greater drop in mortality
for the first group of causes, which mainly occur in children, as well as by the

A Clockwork Orange Analysis
A Clockwork Orange is a film directed by Stanley Kubrick, which explores the examination of the
baser human emotions. The movie is set in a not so distant ,dystopian future, where an English
society is dominated by an extreme culture of youth violence. The society in the film is one that is
seemingly dictated by primal instincts, a society where murder and rape are commonplace and
sexuality manages to penetrate the facets of their culture; appearing everyone from clothing to
home decor. The story is told by the protagonist, Alex DeLarge. Alex is characterized as a
psychopath and a juvenile delinquent that finds pleasure in violence and rape, but at the same time,
he is intelligent with a sophisticated taste in art, literature and music, being particularly fond of
Beethoven s 9th symphony. Alex undergoes a mental transformation when being a subjective to the
Ludovico experiment which alters his disposition towards the immoral pleasure seeking activities
that had previously entertained him.
Freudian psychoanalytic theory aims to cure mental disorders by investigating the interaction of the
conscious and unconscious elements in the mind. This theory is also based upon the specific
theories of how the mind, the insitincts and secuality work, (Peter Berry, 92). Freud s conception of
the human psyche includes the conscious, the preconscious and the unconscious. The different
forms of Alex that we see before and after the Ludovico technique can be understood in the context
of the three part structural model of the psyche conceived by Freud. That is, the id, the ego, and the
superego.
The id is the part of a personality that contains a person s primitive impulses, such as thirst, anger,
hunger and the desire for instant gratification and release. Freud believed that the id is based on
our pleasure principle, so whatever the id wants at that time to feel good, it will do it, with no
regard or consideration for the reality of the situation. According to Freud, the id presents the
unconscious, instinctive aspect of the personality that serves to relieve pain and tension through
reflec and primary process, (Emmett and Veeder, 231). Alex freely acts out on his id desires through
committing violent acts with

Dale A Jerk Analysis
Dale is a human being, like anyone else. However, he s a bit different from others. He s the kind
of person that cuts in line or the kind that vents his tantrum to his partner. We call these people:
jerks. So is Dale a jerk? A jerk is an individual that is foolish, naive, egotistical, as well as unjust.
Here I ll be explaining the views of Schwitzgebel, Polemarchus, and Thrasymachus of being a
jerk. Schwitzgebel defines a jerk as being ignorant of their self serving tendencies. An example
of this is parking in two spots in a lot, disregarding other people s need to park as well. A jerk
would not know that their selfish actions would affect others, therefore they do not know that
they are a jerk themselves. Not only do they lack attention to other s well being, they also tend to
view other s in a negative light. As Schwitzgebel said, Jerks see the world through goggles that
dim others humanity. Surrounded by fools, creeps, stuck up snobs, smug assholes, and, of course,
jerks, Schwitzgebel associates this view as a jerk s view; as most of the world do not see people
negatively. Thus, Dale s lashing out on his partner and his glares at his neighbors... Show more

Polemarchus speaks of justice in The Republic as someone who helps a friend and does harm to
those who are their enemies, including giving everyone their due (p. 711). Socrates does refute
that it is never right to harm anyone, (p. 713) and it s unjust to render whatever is due to
enemies (p, 711) if they mean to do harm meaning to give back ownership of something a person
had, letting them harm another in the process. As a result, maltreatment and being rude is unjust.
For that reason, being a jerk is unjust as a jerk qualifies as being a rude, self absorbed individual.
Dale fits this description perfectly since he shows many signs of his disregard of others well being
such as taking out his anger onto his partner a sign of not helping a

Taking a Look at Learning Organization
Why the Learning organization now? In view of the increasing global competition, an in increased
in customer sophistication and the lowering of the potential to maintain competitive advantage
through technology or economics, and the need for organization to survive in a changing global
environment, organizations are now conscious that the only source of competitive advantage is the
ability of such organizations to learn faster and smarter than their competitors. The concept of
learningorganisation fits in the context and is more apt to bring the desired change. An organization
facing uncertain, changing or ambiguous market conditions need to be able to adopt learning
concepts. They must continuously learn to survive and adapt in this dynamic and competing
environment in which they are operating. Organizations adopting this concept will be able to adapt
to the rapid and continuous change. Consequently marked improvements on the competitive
performance of the organization will be visible.
What is a learning organisation
The concept of learning organization emerged in the late 80 s proposed by Boydell, Pedler and
Burgoyne (1989). However, it was only in the 1990s that learning organization became a common
concept in organization theory. The learning organization concept attained broad popularity when
Senge published his bestselling The Fifth Discipline: the art and practice of learning organization, in
1990.
The learning organisation is considered as an organisation

the Japanese were already on the verge of collapse (Freeman 1). Although, it can be arguable

On pages 260 261, Dana stabbed Rufus multiple times in the attic. The main factor that lead to
Dana stabbing Rufus was her belief that Rufus needed to free more of his slaves. If Dana did
not act based off of her beliefs, many of the slaves futures would have been altered. Alice made
multiple significant decisions because of what she believed in. Alice believed that she had
more opportunity running away with Isaac than she did staying in Maryland; Alice ran away
from with Isaac in parts 3 and 4 of The Fight. Alice later got caught and recalled They beat me. I
remember, the dogs, the rope... They tied me behind a horse and I had to run but I couldn t.
(page 158). If Alice had not run away, Rufus would not have had to buy her, and Haager would
not have been born. Another essential choice that Alice made was hanging herself. Rufus refers to
Alice and Dana as being only one woman (page 228). Alice analyzes this as Rufus thinking her
and Dana are similar, but only wanting her in bed, and wanting Dana out of bed(page 228). This is
important because Alice perceives Dana as a white nigger , an African Americanwho acts like a
white; Alice thinks that since Rufus thinks Dana and her are similar, that she is also a white
nigger . The thought of being a white nigger is too much for Alice so she hangs herself (Page

The Roles Of Compressions In The Epic Of Beowulf
The oral culture of the Anglo Saxons was the only way tales of their history were passed down
through generations. Throughout the epic poem of Beowulf, digressions are presented through the
concept of giving advice or remembrance to their ancestors. The digressions within the epic poem
are at times ambiguous. However, they play a large role in the underlying perception for the
character s actions. The digression that illustrates the story of King Finn was implemented to
uncover the uncertainly of Hrothgar s Queen, Wealhtheow.
Though Beowulf was a mighty hero and savior for Heorot and the Danes, he was not one of their
own. Following Hrothgar s declaration to Beowulf that he would adopt you in my heart as a dear

Just as King Finn did with the Danes every day at the dole out of gifts Finn, son of Focwald,
should honor the Danes, bestow with and even hand to Hengest and Hengest s men the wrought
gold rings, bounty to match the measure he gave his own Frisians (lines 1088 1093). Though
wergeld seemed to be the law of the land for a murder, the Danes still attached and retaliated
against the Frisians during King Finn s rein. Weahtheow was submerged past the initial message of
the digression. She spoke highly of Beowulf, though she was implying that she was not willing to
trust someone that was not a part of the Danes to have inheritance form Hrothgar. The queen s swift
reaction to the narrative of Finn was an obvious indicator that she was not willing to risk her
husband, children, and community by giving Beowulf family rights.]]
Grateful everyone was, however, they all new retribution and vengeance was at the core of their
people s value system. Although Beowulf accepted the wergeld; the fallen victim s family may
not accept this and come to seek revenge on Hrothgar. During the age of the Anglo Saxon s the
blame had to be placed on someone so their grief debt would be paid. During Weahtheow s
epiphany she was faced with the realization that her life could crumble just as king Finn s wife
had experienced through dishonesty of the already payed off wergild. longing woke in the cooped
up exile for a voyage home but more for vengeance. (line 1138 1140)

Unit 1 Parachute Investigation
Stage 1 Physics investigation Parachute Investigation
The purpose of this assignment is to work out a parachute design and investigate parachute s drop
time. Parachutes are designed to fall slowly so that the person can land safely to the ground, as
shown in figure 1. Parachutes are big, but not heavy and have a larger surface area for air resistance
like traps the air from escaping out of it. This is because the air pushes the parachute back up, but
the force of gravity pulls the parachute to the earth.
Figure 1 In figure 1, the force of the gravity is pulling the person and the parachute towards the
ground because gravitational force makes the object fall quickly. However, the parachute slows
the person down because it causes air resistance as it pushes the parachute back up and creates an
opposite gravitational force. The forces push or a pull are called action and reaction forces, the
subject of newton s third law. During this investigation, the push force is the air resistance and
opposite (pull) force is the gravity.
It is predicted that four sided parachute will take more time to reach the ground because the larger
the surface area, more air particles hit/collide with the parachute, as shown in diagram 2.
Nevertheless, the smaller the surface area of the parachute, fewer air particles collide and the ...

This means that parachute took 8.08 seconds longer than the eraser s drop time without the
parachute. This means that weight and the size affect the parachute s drop time because weight
causes the whole parachute to accelerate as it gains speed and encounters an increasing amount
of opposing upward air resistance force. For example; the first parachute we made was really big
and had more surface area, but it did not work due to less air resistance. However, the second
parachute worked well, but it did not fell straight

preppy with a cardigan, which is Sandy s personality. Sandy shows up in her black leather pants

same time frame. Grease had the same sort of view as the Outsiders. There is Danny and his

another group of popular people from another school. In Grease, there are never any fights

So, if I make the fried Kim chi with the Kim chi from a market, it is just not tasty as much as the
one that my mom made. Yet, however the taste of it, every time I eat Kim chi, it reminds me of
my mom s caring for me and the fact that I am Korean. Because when she tried to make me eat
Kim chi, she always used to say like oh, Koreans should eat Kim chi. By that time, however, what
she said did not really come across my mind. Since all the people around me were Korean, I did
not really know what being Korea means. But now I am in America, and being Korean becomes
one of the unique characteristics that represent me.
Another reason why I pick specifically fried Kim chi instead of raw Kim chi is because of its
similar characteristics as mine. Fried Kim chi and I share similar contents in some ways. Fried
Kim chi is a transitional version of raw Kim chi. We can also say it has been a little bit
westernized since people put butter, cheese or whatsoever in it. For me, I have the similar
characteristic as it is since I have been living in western country for several years, and so have been
mixed with Korean culture and western culture at the same time.
The Last point that why Kim chi represents my cultural identity is because it is a side menu. Yes,
Kim chi is a side menu, not a main menu mostly. However even if it is a side menu, it is definitely
a must have dish for Koreans when they have meals. To talk about the America s Society for a little

Stages Of Emotional And Cognitive Development
Title Discuss examples of emotional and cognitive development in children and the role of nurture
and nature. In understanding the emotional and cognitive development in children, many theorists
including Bowlby and his attachment theory, Baumrind theory towards parenting styles and also
Vygotsky and his theory on social development, have all worked hard over many years of
research into producing theories on understanding how the development of children is important.
It has been found that emotional and cognitive development are becoming linked much more
closely as children grow. There is constant advancements and research in old and new theories
towards a Child development. In this essay, different theories will be discussed about child
development such as their, social, emotional, cognitive and language and how the role of nature
and nurture adapts to these theories. Within the research filed of a child s development, old
theories are constantly being questioned, developed, improved or disproved. This questioning
often leads to new theories developing and evolving. In the early 1900 s Freud proposed that
there are only 2 basic drives that serves to monitor all thoughts and emotions and behaviours, sex
and aggression or Eros and Thanatos. This theory basically states that everything we as animals do
is to enable us to procreate and so continuing our bloodline. These actions for example could be,

Ergot Poisoning Essay
In 1762, there were several documented deaths that were attributed to ergot poisoning from
contaminated grain. A farm laborer s wife and six children died after suffering terrible
symptoms such as blackened and rotting limbs. In 1951 in Pont Saint Esprit, France, there was
another such episode in which either ergot or LSD was implicated. In this small village, dozens
of people suffered violent delusions requiring restraints and hospitalization. Five people died. At
first, this outbreak was considered related to a possible fungal infection of local grain, but later
evidence showed that it could have been connected to something far more sinister. According to
an article from BBC News, a document from a CIA agent implied that the village may have
suffered from a public test of LSD that was produced in Sandoz Chemical, a few hundred
kilometers away. Despite the violent symptoms associated with ergot poisoning, the substance has
been used medicinally. It has been used to treat migraines and Parkinson s disease, and to induce
abortion. To generate ergot for medicinal purposes today, grain crops in the Czech republic,

The Characteristics Of A Twisted Hero
A hero is a person who rises above the ranks of the average individual and is known as one who
achieves great strides as well as lead people to prosperity and greatness. On the contrary, a person
who is twisted is one whom has an abnormal and, in a myriad number of occasions, warped
perspective on reality and morality. When combining these two concepts, what comes out is a
Twisted Hero, a person who brings about times of prosperity and greatness, but does so in a
manner akin to that of if one were to jump into a black hole in space, one will be torn in two with
one half being incinerated immediately and the other half being completely fine falling into the
black hole. This is what a twisted hero is defined as to me, a twisted hero leaves only the
outstanding results, but takes out any chance of it being done righteously. These twisted heroes can
be found in the cases of Om a Sokdae and the fifth grade class, William Tecumseh Shermanwith his
total wartactics, and my teacher in fourth grade with her cruel punishments. When examining why
Om Sokdae, the class monitor, is the twisted hero of the fifth grade class, it is important to realize
the achievements the class, as a whole, is able to reach when they listen to him. From their class
being seen as the most ideal by the school, having the best grades and test scores, and the students
being seen as the most exemplary it is clear that Om has made great strides with his leadership
position as class monitor.

Lego s Partnership With Oil Interests And The Destruction...
On July 8th, 2014, Greenpeace released a video criticizing LEGO s partnership with oil giant
Shell. The video, which has become a rallying point for environmental groups, sought to force
LEGO to end its partnership with Shell due to Shell s plans to implement offshore drilling in the
Arctic. Fearing that the drilling would lead to a massive oil spill which could destroy the Arctic
ecosystem, Greenpeace used the video to garner worldwide attention to the issue. Painting the
relationship between LEGOand Shell as promoting oil interests and the destruction of the Artic gave
Greenpeace an environmental issue that the rest of the world could identify with. Keeping the
Arctic and its ecosystem intact is in the interests of people globally, which made the video
advertisement even more potent.
Factual Assertions
Evaluating Greenpeace s ad for factual claims proves to be a tricky affair. Since the medium used
is LEGOs, their ability to portray real life situations is a little distorted. While this does not take
away from the effectiveness of the ad, it makes it harder to determine what is actually factual.
The most obvious factual claim in the ad would be the partnership that has existed between
Shell and LEGO. This relationship has been in place through a series of co branding deals since
the 1960s. LEGO and Shell agreed to create a set of toys that carries the Shell logo and would be
sold at gasoline stations worldwide. The intended effect was to put LEGOs in the hands of more

Using economic theory and information gathered from prior academic research, this paper will
address how technological changes have affected the demand for skilled and unskilled workers.
There has been a long debate throughout various forms of literature related to this topic over
whether technology is destroying or creating jobs. Taking economic theory into consideration, I
have come to the hypothesis that technological changes have shifted the demand for both skilled
and unskilled workers; causing a downward shift in demand for low/unskilled workers and causing
an upward shift in the demand for skilled workers. Based on substitution and scale effects,
technological change creates shifts in labor demand. Because innovation and automation reduces
the cost of capital, this also results in substitution and scale effects.
In this paper, I will first review three sources of economic research related to my topic. I will
summarize their research question, methods and findings. I will then summarize my findings and
present some future points to consider. After assessing the various information gathered from prior
academic research, I have come to the conclusion that overall skill biased technological change
does exist and does in fact affect the demand for skilled and unskilled workers.

The Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On The Rate Of...
Determining the effect of varying sucrose concentration on the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in
yeasts
Introduction:
The research question asks how varying sucrose concentrations affect the rate of anaerobic cell
respiration in yeast, measured in CO2 production. The rate of anaerobic respiration will be
determined by measuring the rate of CO2 production by the yeast cells.
The hypothesis stats that as the sucrose concentration is increased, rate of respiration will increase
and therefore the CO2 production of yeast cells will rise. Sucrose is a disaccharide composed of
the monosaccharaides glucose and fructose. Glucose is a reactant in anaerobic cell respiration. In
the absence of oxygen, glucose will react with the yeast producing ethanol and CO2.
Independent variableSucrose concentration The sucrose concentration in the solution was varied to
10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% in order to examine the effect of varying sucrose concentration on
the CO2 production of yeast cells.
Dependent variableCO2 production The CO2 production was measured with a CO2 meter (+
/ 1ppm), in order to determine the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in yeast.
Controlled variableYeast10.0 mg (+/ 0.5mg) of yeast were added for each trial Time For every
trial, the CO2 production was constantly measured for 300 seconds (+/ 1 second) TemperatureThe
room temperature was measured throughout the lab and kept constant at 24В°C (+/ 1В°C), as the

hardest.Although some people believe that football is the best sport the reality is that baseball is
the best sport that is around today. There are way more games in baseballthan any other sport. In
bleacher reports article their they say that their are 162 baseball games in one season and that is
6 months of baseball the NBA is 82 games a season and the NFL is only 16 games a season. That
is why baseball is in fact the best sport around six months out of twelve is baseball and the
second longest is only half that amount and almost every kid you meet will have played baseball
at least once in their life that is why it is the best. Another reason why baseball is the best because
it is so fun and family friendly to go to the games and watch. So that is why baseball is the best sport.

In the bleacher report article top 10 reasons why baseball is the best sport While other sports
bash you over the head with time restraints where the quarters or periods stick to 15 minute
intervals, baseball is relaxed and carefree. Baseball decides when it wants to end . I love that
baseball is not time because when u go to basketball, football, and hockey they are all timed have
half times but no baseball is a straight 9 innings an they can even go extras but the average
baseball game is about three hours. That is the other reason why baseball is indeed the best sport

Pep Rallies And School Dances
Even though they re easily confused they can still try to get the point across. Having moved to a
new place it can be hard to adapt to your new surroundings and they still have that to do. This
teacher is great at what they do but as far as communication skills it takes them a while to catch up
and understand what is happening around them. Their facial expressions tell everything that you
need to know their state of mind as they teach versus when they are talking with a studentabout an
event that occurred at school. Things are so different as far as culture so many things they are lost
on and wanna know why we do them or what fun do we get out of certain actions. Pep Rallies and
School Dances are new to them because where they come from

You might say you re an animal lover but do you care for it? Faye Carey is teen activist who
studies animals. Some things you could say about Faye is that she doesn t quit at anything and
that she ll keep moving forward even when there s tough situations to make. One example, is she
manages to re home more than sixty dogs. Here are some things I ve learned about Faye and
some things that you can learn from me! When Faye started to volunteer at the shelter she
decided to make a facebook page so people can adopt the dogs. Another example is that Faye
always grooms the puppies and photographs them before she puts them on the facebook page.
Therefore, Faye also posts the new dogs available each week for adoptionon her facebook page.
Every Time Faye volunteers at the shelter, the shelter receives 20 new dogs each week but some
dogs still need re homing. A quote from a worker also from the shelter says This takes a lot of
heat off the pound for us trying to get these dogs into homes. A quote from Mr. Oliver says he
appreciates Faye in every good way and wouldn t let her dream be unpredictable. ... Show more

of not volunteering everyday at the shelter Faye volunteers every Friday. She volunteers on

Strengths And Weaknesses Of The United Kingdom
There are many strengths and weaknesses associated with the United Kingdoms (UK) National
Health Service (NHS) as a health care system. The aim of this essay is to analyse what these
may be and link the findings to how well they compare to other healthcare systems of developed
countries. There are many pros and cons of the NHS which shall be further examined such as its
aim to breakdown healthcare inequalities in the UK and costs for patients as well as how
resources are used within the system. Using statistics of past surveys, the NHS can be compared to
other healthcare systems of developed countries such as the United States, Germany and Canada,
all of which shall be reviewed in this essay.

safe, effective and focused on patient experience (NHS England, 2015, online) rather than whatever

service oriented salon based business. I will also describe the inputs, operations processes, and
outputs that pertain to Eli s Beauty Services . In addition, I will describe how customer needs will
be addressed in my business and the beauty shop s core competencies. Moreover, I will identify
competitors, compare my service offerings to theirs, and elaborate upon the quality unique
distinction of my business from rivals.
The Service Oriented Business
My business will provide beauty and relaxation services to customers. The services provided in
my business will be in the form of hairstyles, massages, manicures, and pedicures. Providing these
services require close and personal interaction of employees with customers (Longenecker Petty, et
al., 2013, p. 566). These services will be provided based upon the requests and desires of
demanding customers. In order for my business to be successful, all employees and myself must
have close connections with customers in order for clients to continue to return to my business for

The Cross Sectional Study Among Postmenopausal Women
In this cross sectional study among postmenopausal women not currently using HT, we found some
evidence that higher levels DHEAS and DHEA levels may be associated with less thrombin
generation, lower nAPCsr values, and lower total protein S levels in analyses unadjusted for
multiple comparisons. After accounting for multiple comparisons, we found no statistically
significant evidence of associations between endogenous hormone levels and hemostatic factor
levels. We found no compelling evidence that androstenedione, total T, free T, FTI, E2, E1, or
SHBG levels were associated with hemostatic factors levels.
DHEAS, DHEA, and Androstenedione
In our study population of postmenopausal women not currently using HT, there was some
evidence that higher levels of DHEAS and DHEA may be associated with lower TG peak value,
lower nAPCsr, and lower total protein S and that lower levels of DHEA may also be associated
with lower levels of FVII and TG ETP; these associations were not statistically significant after
accounting for multiple comparisons. All suggestive associations between DHEAS and DHEA
levels and hemostatic factor levels were in the direction opposite than what we had hypothesized,
other than the association with total protein S. Interestingly, our results suggested that higher
DHEAS and DHEA levels may be associated with lower values of nAPCsr and measures of TG, but
also with lower values of total protein S, a cofactor activating the protein C thrombomodulin
complex,

The Definition Of Savagery In The Lord Of The Flies
Every human is a savage. All of us has something savage within our lives. When were born,
people learn humanity and what s right from wrong. In the book The Lord Of The Flies The
boys are definitely considered savages .In the book, the boys are considered savages because it
is evident that when you re at home, you re taught what s right and wrong, but in the book there
are no parents, another reason is the characteristics of humanity was low such as being civilized.
Lastly is the way they talk and treat things/others which shows a huge amount of savagery. The
definition of savagery is the quality of being fierce or cruel. The definition of humanity is the
human race/human being characteristics.Part of life people have different sides of them whether
are being nice, sad, mad, excited, then lastly there s mean/cruel. Being mean/ cruel is basically
the definition of Savagery. It is anarchy which is used in the book. In The Lord Of The Flies the
characters are Anarch types. An example is that Ralph is the hero, but Piggy is the outcast. For
the hero s job they must fulfill their duties and tasks. Ralph tries to help and lead the group
throughout the whole thing. The character, Piggy, He is a main outcast out of all the characters
he is also bullied from the boys on the island. He has many ideas, but is often left out. At home
you have your parents or your guardians. There is an authority figure there at all times telling you

Destinee Game Analysis
As the striker stepped back to take the penalty kick, I planted my feet on the ground. I watched
in anticipation as she ran up to the ball and watched it fly towards the goal in slow motion,
guessing which direction it will go. Though I have played goalkeeper for 10 years, nothing I did
then would have changed the motion of the ball soaring towards the goal. Only the hard work I
had done in the weeks prior could affect it, because the goalkeeper in goal was a player I coached.
I started coaching for AYSO recreational league soccer in my freshman year, as an assistant to a
former coach of mine, Wayne. Wayne understood my passion and knowledge of the game, and I
was more than happy to help him and his team, specifically his goalkeeper, Destinee. ... Show more

The team had games every weekend, and I saw every weekend how much the time I had put in for
Destinee had made her better and better every week. Of course none of her progress would be
possible without her hardworking attitude and commitment to training, but I still developed a sense
of pride in Destinee.
Finally, in one of the last games of the season, Destinee had a clear cut opportunity to show her
progress. It was an important game, and the team was winning by one goal. The referee called a
penalty kick, and Destinee had to make the save to keep her team ahead. I watched her get ready
for the shot the way I taught her and thought about how she had told me that penalty kicks were
impossible. The shot was taken, and Destinee made a diving save to the corner to deny the goal.
As I heard sighs of relief on my side of the field and loud groans on the other, I realized I was the
loudest one cheering. It was great seeing Destinee excel in something that she could not imagine
attempting only a month ago.
From this experience I learned that contributing to your community, however selfless the
contribution, has a reward in itself when you know that you have helped someone else. I felt proud
of Destinee and myself, and I still coach the team whenever

Inaccuracies In Selma Selma was a movie released at the end of 2014 which portrayed the struggles Martin Luther King, Jr. and others working closely with him had trying to get the black right to vote in Selma, Alabama. The movie portrays many clear points, and has largely accurate information. However, in the movie Selma, there are some clear inaccuracies in the movie that were created to further the plot The film Selma takes place during the Civil Rights Movement in Selma, Alabama during 1965. The Voting Rights Act, which was initially brought before Congress almost directly because of the Selma to Montgomery march led by MLK, was slightly adjusted to be more fair to all races. Because this was slightly adjusted, it may have brought people back in time to wondering about the actual civil rights movement, and what it took to get such a law passed. Selma demonstrated fairly accurately all the hardships necessary to procure such a law. • 3. Mental Health Act Analysis The first piece of legislation which supported individual with mental health was the Mad House Act (1774). This piece of legislation was ineffective as it resulted in negative outcomes for individuals with mental and physical disabilities, as they were treated in an undignified way in cramped and unsubstantial conditions being viewed by the public for a penny. However, the Lunacy Act (1845 1930) was a more positive outcome, making it a legal requirement for county owned asylum to be inspected and had to have licenses for best practice and to promote the rights of the patients within and outside the facility, although, this was not the case in some facilities where failure and low morale caused negative impacts to the patients treatments (Lester, 2010). Furthermore, in the 1900 s the Mental Deficiency Health Act came into implementation in (1913 1938) where children and vulnerable adults would have been placed institutional settings, until the amendment to the Mental Health Act (1959). This act abolished the categories of legal distinction of mental health and prevented those who did not need to go for example, a mother who is unwed and had repeated amount of children as they were seen to be defective (Pilgrim, D, 2014). • 4. The Old Testament Is More Powerful Than The Old Testament It has become a theme for people to refer more to the New Testament than to the Old Testament, when trying to answer issues about their daily lives. This is becoming a trend because it appears to be logical that the New Testament would be more applicable to our lives than the Old Testament is, since it was written more recently than the Old Testament. Although this is a persistent theme in our culture, this should not be the case because the Old Testament should be held as just as authoritative as the New Testament, if not more so. I think that the Old Testament should be considered authoritative for the Christian and included in formulating our beliefs, because the Old Testament tells of the beginning of the Christian faith. Although the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Ten Commandments are something that is taught to everyone that attends Sunday school, these are a list of things that God gave to Moses that we should not do in order to fully follow God in our lives. I think that these laws being contained in the Old Testament along with other provisions that God provides for His people shows that the Old Testament is authoritative. I think that the Old Testament should be considered authoritative also because everything that is written down was fully from God and inspired by God. The Old Testament contains the things that God wanted to fully communicate to His people so that they would see His character and learn what He wanted from them, this fact makes the Old Testament authoritative for Christians. This also shows why the Old Testament should be consulted when formulating beliefs because we see the nature of God and the love that He has for His people throughout the Old Testament. • 5. The Problem Of Arson Investigation Arson investigation began sometime in the mid 1970 s, and has been a process changed and evolved ever since. The act of arson consists of purposely setting or starting a fire on someone s property, and can be for a number of reasons anywhere from vandalism, excitement or serial arson, to revenge, extremism or crime concealment (Newton, M., 15). Some previously proven indicators pointing as to whether or not a fireis an act of arson has been questioned, further researched and tested. Many of these theories have stated that certain markings, post fire, could only appear due an accelerant being used to help engage the fire or intensify it, though recently many of these theories have been debunked. The truth behind some of these markings... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the most misleading processes that can lead to a wrongful conviction is a term called flashover. Flashover is what seemingly happens when an entire room is engulfed in fire, and flames protrude from openings within the building. The process occurs in an enclosed space when particles and combustible gases begin to cluster close to the ceiling, and then slowly fall towards the floor. At this point, it is likely that an accumulation of air would rush into the room through windows, doors or other cavities, and ignite the muddle of particles and gases (Starr, 2011). As this process was not realized until later when arson investigation became more developed, many explanations as to whether an accelerant was used to start a fire have been recently proven to be more than likely due to the effects of a flashover. Some of these beliefs were that melted metals, especially those in or near doorways, burn marks under pieces of furniture, or on the floor were a sure sign that a liquid accelerant was used to start the fire. Detectives believed melted metals were a sign of a liquid accelerant because they thought that temperatures high enough to melt these types of metals were unattainable without an accelerant. • 7. Gender Stereotypes In Trifles By Susan Glaspell In earlier cultures, women s job was to bear children, cook, clean, and to be submissive to their husband. A man s job was to work, take care of the farm, and was to be the dominant individual in the marriage. With both the husband and wife doing their daily duties, the household would go smoothly. However, certain men in the 19th centurybegan to degrade women. Making women feel worthless and unimportant. Wives, daughters and sisters were left at home all day to oversee the domestic duties that were increasingly carried out by servants (The British Library). In the play Trifles, the play writer wants the audience to believe that stereotypes is inappropriate because it is wrong to assume something about an individual based solely on their gender. Throughout this play, written by Susan Glaspell, there are several instances where both genders were not portrayed as equal. In the play, Hale stated Well, women are used to worrying over trifles (Glaspell, 25). The word trifles means something unimportant or of little value (Webster s II New College Dictionary). Here, Hale is basically saying that women worry over the small things in life, instead of focusing on what really matters. Later on in the play, the women focusing over trifles is of great benefit to the women, and it allows the women to have an upper hand over the men. Traditionally a middle class girl in Western culture tended to learn from her mother s example that cooking, cleaning, and caring for children was the behavior expected of her when she grew up (WIC Women s History in America). This statement links to the play in many different ways. It is evident that the women had the job of making sure the house looked presentable to any family and/or guests that entered the home. In the play, the County Attorney says Dirty towels! Not much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies? (Glaspell, 25). In this line, it is evident that the County Attorney expected that Mrs. Wright should have always had clean towels under the sink instead of dirty ones. It is then that Mrs. Hale chimed in to say Those towels het dirty awful quick. Men s hands aren t always as clean as they might be (Glaspell, 25). Here, Mrs. Hale is trying to take ... • 8. Marriage To Survive In Daniel Defoe’S Moll Flanders. Although Marriage to Survive in Daniel Defoe s Moll Flanders Although the central concerns of women during the eighteen century was of courtship and marriage, social graces, and dignity, money was also a very important concern. Many of the female characters in eighteenth century novels are portrayed as intensely aware of finances and markedly interested in the getting and keeping of money (Scheuermann, 311). Daniel Defoe s fictional heroine, Moll Flanders is always thinking in economic terms and looking for financial stability. She did not think of the money as a bribe to keep her quiet, but more as evidence of that the young man truly loved her. She does not realize that he only sees her as a sexual escapade. In eighteenth century England, everyone was incredibly conscious of their social positions. Consequently, the rich rarely married the poor (Heyck, 47 64). Fitzgerald uses the rainy weather in this novel to symbolize several things. For example, on the day that Gatsby plans to meet with Daisy, it is raining before they meet. The day agreed upon was pouring rain. At eleven o clock a man in a raincoat dragging a lawn mower tapped at my front door and said that Mr. Gatsby had sent him over to cut my grass. (Fitzgerald 88). • 12. A Clockwork Orange Analysis A Clockwork Orange is a film directed by Stanley Kubrick, which explores the examination of the baser human emotions. The movie is set in a not so distant ,dystopian future, where an English society is dominated by an extreme culture of youth violence. The society in the film is one that is seemingly dictated by primal instincts, a society where murder and rape are commonplace and sexuality manages to penetrate the facets of their culture; appearing everyone from clothing to home decor. The story is told by the protagonist, Alex DeLarge. Alex is characterized as a psychopath and a juvenile delinquent that finds pleasure in violence and rape, but at the same time, he is intelligent with a sophisticated taste in art, literature and music, being particularly fond of Beethoven s 9th symphony. Alex undergoes a mental transformation when being a subjective to the Ludovico experiment which alters his disposition towards the immoral pleasure seeking activities that had previously entertained him. Freudian psychoanalytic theory aims to cure mental disorders by investigating the interaction of the conscious and unconscious elements in the mind. This theory is also based upon the specific theories of how the mind, the insitincts and secuality work, (Peter Berry, 92). Freud s conception of the human psyche includes the conscious, the preconscious and the unconscious. The different forms of Alex that we see before and after the Ludovico technique can be understood in the context of the three part structural model of the psyche conceived by Freud. That is, the id, the ego, and the superego. The id is the part of a personality that contains a person s primitive impulses, such as thirst, anger, hunger and the desire for instant gratification and release. Freud believed that the id is based on our pleasure principle, so whatever the id wants at that time to feel good, it will do it, with no regard or consideration for the reality of the situation. According to Freud, the id presents the unconscious, instinctive aspect of the personality that serves to relieve pain and tension through reflec and primary process, (Emmett and Veeder, 231). • 13. Dale A Jerk Analysis Dale is a human being, like anyone else. However, he s a bit different from others. He s the kind of person that cuts in line or the kind that vents his tantrum to his partner. We call these people: jerks. So is Dale a jerk? A jerk is an individual that is foolish, naive, egotistical, as well as unjust. Here I ll be explaining the views of Schwitzgebel, Polemarchus, and Thrasymachus of being a jerk. Schwitzgebel defines a jerk as being ignorant of their self serving tendencies. An example of this is parking in two spots in a lot, disregarding other people s need to park as well. A jerk would not know that their selfish actions would affect others, therefore they do not know that they are a jerk themselves. Not only do they lack attention to other s well being, they also tend to view other s in a negative light. As Schwitzgebel said, Jerks see the world through goggles that dim others humanity. Surrounded by fools, creeps, stuck up snobs, smug assholes, and, of course, jerks, Schwitzgebel associates this view as a jerk s view; as most of the world do not see people negatively. Thus, Dale s lashing out on his partner and his glares at his neighbors... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Polemarchus speaks of justice in The Republic as someone who helps a friend and does harm to those who are their enemies, including giving everyone their due (p. 711). As a result, maltreatment and being rude is unjust. For that reason, being a jerk is unjust as a jerk qualifies as being a rude, self absorbed individual. The United States has a healthcare system that is different from almost every country in the world. I would call the United States health care system a hybrid type system. In view of the increasing global competition, an in increased in customer sophistication and the lowering of the potential to maintain competitive advantage through technology or economics, and the need for organization to survive in a changing global environment, organizations are now conscious that the only source of competitive advantage is the ability of such organizations to learn faster and smarter than their competitors. • 20. The Theme Of Slavery In Octavia Butler s Kindred Fiction is a vast topic with many works about slavery, but few would be considered science fiction. In Kindred, Dana, an African American woman living in 1976, teleports back to 1815 into her ancestor s plantation in Maryland. Dana is in a hostile environment, when her life is in danger she teleports back to the future; although she keeps getting sent back to the past, with every experience more dangerous than the last. Throughout the novel, Octavia Butler developed the theme of we should act based off of our beliefs. A belief that Dana had was that slavery was unjust. Since Dana believed that slavery was unjust she tried to influence Rufus in his younger days so he would have as many fond memories of her, and not be as brutal on slaves... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On pages 260 261, Dana stabbed Rufus multiple times in the attic. The main factor that lead to Dana stabbing Rufus was her belief that Rufus needed to free more of his slaves. If Dana did not act based off of her beliefs, many of the slaves futures would have been altered. Alice made multiple significant decisions because of what she believed in. Alice believed that she had more opportunity running away with Isaac than she did staying in Maryland; Alice ran away from with Isaac in parts 3 and 4 of The Fight. Alice later got caught and recalled They beat me. I remember, the dogs, the rope... They tied me behind a horse and I had to run but I couldn t. (page 158). If Alice had not run away, Rufus would not have had to buy her, and Haager would not have been born. Another essential choice that Alice made was hanging herself. Rufus refers to Alice and Dana as being only one woman (page 228). Alice analyzes this as Rufus thinking her and Dana are similar, but only wanting her in bed, and wanting Dana out of bed(page 228). This is important because Alice perceives Dana as a white nigger , an African Americanwho acts like a white; Alice thinks that since Rufus thinks Dana and her are similar, that she is also a white nigger . The thought of being a white nigger is too much for Alice so she hangs herself (Page 248). If Alice did not hang herself Dana ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. The Roles Of Compressions In The Epic Of Beowulf The oral culture of the Anglo Saxons was the only way tales of their history were passed down through generations. Throughout the epic poem of Beowulf, digressions are presented through the concept of giving advice or remembrance to their ancestors. The digressions within the epic poem are at times ambiguous. However, they play a large role in the underlying perception for the character s actions. The digression that illustrates the story of King Finn was implemented to uncover the uncertainly of Hrothgar s Queen, Wealhtheow. Though wergeld seemed to be the law of the land for a murder, the Danes still attached and retaliated against the Frisians during King Finn s rein. Weahtheow was submerged past the initial message of the digression. She spoke highly of Beowulf, though she was implying that she was not willing to trust someone that was not a part of the Danes to have inheritance form Hrothgar. • 22. Unit 1 Parachute Investigation Stage 1 Physics investigation Parachute Investigation The purpose of this assignment is to work out a parachute design and investigate parachute s drop time. Parachutes are designed to fall slowly so that the person can land safely to the ground, as shown in figure 1. Parachutes are big, but not heavy and have a larger surface area for air resistance like traps the air from escaping out of it. This is because the air pushes the parachute back up, but the force of gravity pulls the parachute to the earth. Figure 1 In figure 1, the force of the gravity is pulling the person and the parachute towards the ground because gravitational force makes the object fall quickly. However, the parachute slows the person down because it causes air resistance as it pushes the parachute back up and creates an opposite gravitational force. The forces push or a pull are called action and reaction forces, the subject of newton s third law. During this investigation, the push force is the air resistance and opposite (pull) force is the gravity. It is predicted that four sided parachute will take more time to reach the ground because the larger the surface area, more air particles hit/collide with the parachute, as shown in diagram 2. The Characteristics Of A Twisted Hero A hero is a person who rises above the ranks of the average individual and is known as one who achieves great strides as well as lead people to prosperity and greatness. Taking economic theory into consideration, I have come to the hypothesis that technological changes have shifted the demand for both skilled and unskilled workers; causing a downward shift in demand for low/unskilled workers and causing an upward shift in the demand for skilled workers. Based on substitution and scale effects, technological change creates shifts in labor demand. Because innovation and automation reduces the cost of capital, this also results in substitution and scale effects. Determining the effect of varying sucrose concentration on the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in yeasts Introduction: The research question asks how varying sucrose concentrations affect the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in yeast, measured in CO2 production. The rate of anaerobic respiration will be determined by measuring the rate of CO2 production by the yeast cells. The hypothesis stats that as the sucrose concentration is increased, rate of respiration will increase and therefore the CO2 production of yeast cells will rise. Sucrose is a disaccharide composed of the monosaccharaides glucose and fructose. Glucose is a reactant in anaerobic cell respiration. In the absence of oxygen, glucose will react with the yeast producing ethanol and CO2. Independent variableSucrose concentration The sucrose concentration in the solution was varied to 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% in order to examine the effect of varying sucrose concentration on the CO2 production of yeast cells. • 44. The Cross Sectional Study Among Postmenopausal Women In this cross sectional study among postmenopausal women not currently using HT, we found some evidence that higher levels DHEAS and DHEA levels may be associated with less thrombin generation, lower nAPCsr values, and lower total protein S levels in analyses unadjusted for multiple comparisons. After accounting for multiple comparisons, we found no statistically significant evidence of associations between endogenous hormone levels and hemostatic factor levels. We found no compelling evidence that androstenedione, total T, free T, FTI, E2, E1, or SHBG levels were associated with hemostatic factors levels. DHEAS, DHEA, and Androstenedione In our study population of postmenopausal women not currently using HT, there was some evidence that higher levels of DHEAS and DHEA may be associated with lower TG peak value, lower nAPCsr, and lower total protein S and that lower levels of DHEA may also be associated with lower levels of FVII and TG ETP; these associations were not statistically significant after accounting for multiple comparisons. All suggestive associations between DHEAS and DHEA levels and hemostatic factor levels were in the direction opposite than what we had hypothesized, other than the association with total protein S. Interestingly, our results suggested that higher DHEAS and DHEA levels may be associated with lower values of nAPCsr and measures of TG, but also with lower values of total protein S, a cofactor activating the protein C thrombomodulin complex, ... • 46. Destinee Game Analysis As the striker stepped back to take the penalty kick, I planted my feet on the ground. I watched in anticipation as she ran up to the ball and watched it fly towards the goal in slow motion, guessing which direction it will go. Though I have played goalkeeper for 10 years, nothing I did then would have changed the motion of the ball soaring towards the goal. Only the hard work I had done in the weeks prior could affect it, because the goalkeeper in goal was a player I coached. I started coaching for AYSO recreational league soccer in my freshman year, as an assistant to a former coach of mine, Wayne. Wayne understood my passion and knowledge of the game, and I was more than happy to help him and his team, specifically his goalkeeper, Destinee. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The team had games every weekend, and I saw every weekend how much the time I had put in for Destinee had made her better and better every week. Of course none of her progress would be possible without her hardworking attitude and commitment to training, but I still developed a sense of pride in Destinee. Finally, in one of the last games of the season, Destinee had a clear cut opportunity to show her progress. It was an important game, and the team was winning by one goal. The referee called a penalty kick, and Destinee had to make the save to keep her team ahead. I watched her get ready for the shot the way I taught her and thought about how she had told me that penalty kicks were impossible. The shot was taken, and Destinee made a diving save to the corner to deny the goal. As I heard sighs of relief on my side of the field and loud groans on the other, I realized I was the loudest one cheering. It was great seeing Destinee excel in something that she could not imagine attempting only a month ago. From this experience I learned that contributing to your community, however selfless the contribution, has a reward in itself when you know that you have helped someone else. I felt proud of Destinee and myself, and I still coach the team whenever ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
