The Charter At Suffolk Speech And Hearing Center
The covenant not to compete that Ms. Rice signed as a part of her employment contract at
Suffolk Speech and Hearing Center ( Suffolk Speech ) is most likely going to be found
enforceable. As found in Technical Aid Corp v. Allen, there is a three prong test to determine
whether or not a restrictive covenant is reasonable and therefore enforceable. 591 A.2d 262, 265 66
(N.H. 1991). The first being, is the restriction greater than is necessary to protect the legitimate
interests of the employer. Id. Secondly, does the restriction impose an undue hardship on the
employee. Id. at 266. And lastly, is the restriction injurious to the public. Id. For the purposes of this
memo, only the first two elements will be analyzed as the third has already been found to be a non
issue. Because the covenant that Ms. Rice signed at the start of her employment at Suffolk Speech
was reasonable in that it protects Suffolk speech from competition in an appropriate surrounding
area that does not pose an undue hardship, it will be very difficult for the court to deem the
covenant unenforceable. The first issue that must go satisfied or unsatisfied is whether or not the
restriction from the covenant not to compete was greater than necessary to protect to legitimate
interests of Suffolk Speech. Id. The court must evaluate a few things when determining whether this
element is satisfied or not. Important factors to determine if the restriction is greater than necessary
includes the size of the company,

Why Is The City Important In The London City

London Landmarks The city of London is filled with landmarks that bring history and culture to the
city. There are many landmarks throughout London in general, however I am focusing on three
specific ones: Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and London Eye. The Buckingham Palace and Big Ben
have a great historical background, while the London Eye is visited by tourists for leisure. All
three of these landmarks are usually considered to be in the top five landmarks of most popular
in the city. For this reason, it brings a lot of money into the city as well. Buckingham Palace was
the headquarters for administration however is now used for the Monarchy. The Buckingham
Palace is open to visitors; however, limited only to the public by summer, very few tours in the
winter months, and at Easter every year. It has 775 rooms. These include 19 State rooms, 52
Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms. (Goodey) It holds
many royal events and ceremonies. Each year more than 50,000 people visit the Buckingham
Palace by invite for events such as State banquets, lunches, dinners, receptions, and Garden
Parties. (Goodey) It is an office for the Head of State, and a home to The Queen. (Goodey) This is
why so many tourists adore this sight; it is home to one of the world s most adorned people, The
Queen of England. Not only does it house the notorious Queen of England, it also has much

Research Paper On Balanitis
Balantiis Balanitis is characterized by inflammation of the end of the penis, or the glans. Often,
the foreskin is also inflamed. There are several causes which involve bacterial and candidiasis
infections, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), diabetes, phimosis, poor hygiene, skin conditions
or irritation. It can occur at any age but most commonly affects young boys under 4 years old and
uncircumcised men. It is uncommon in men who have been circumcised. Symptoms of balanitis
include irritation, redness, and soreness of the end of the penis, or the glans. It ranges from a small
localized area of redness confined to superficial skin surface, to the entire glans becoming red,
swollen and painful. There may also be a clumpy, thick, discharge beneath the foreskin. In some
instances, it is impossible to retract the foreskin or the patient may have painful urination.... Show

With identification of the condition, it can easily be treated with antibiotics. If the condition is
difficult to treat, a sample can be taken to identify the causative agent, allergy testing, assess for
diabetes, refer to urologist or skin specialist. Treatment of balanitis may include antibiotics,
antifungals, antifungal or steroid creams depending on the cause. Antibiotics treat infections that
are caused by bacteria, including STDs. Steroid creams can be used as an supplement to antifungal
or antibiotic medication to decrease inflammation caused by infection. Steroid creams reduce

The Five Components Of The Federal Reserve System
The Fed system consists of five components: (1) member banks, (2) Federal Reserve District
Banks, (3) Board of Governors, (4) Federal Open Market Committee, and (5) advisory committees.
The Federal Reserve System is composed of 12 Federal Reserve districts, each district being
served by a Federal Reserve Bank. Member banks own the stock issued by the Federal Reserve
Banks. The Board of Governors in Washington, D.C. directs and coordinates the activities of the
Federal Reserve Banks. The Federal Open Market Committee (FMOC) conducts open market
operations by buying and selling U.S. government securities. The Fed s three major advisory
committees are: Federal Advisory Council, Consumer Advisory Council, and the Thrift Institutions
Advisory Council. (Pauline Smale, 2010)
What is a central bank? And what are the three traditional tools used to affect the money supply?

Jude Children Research Hospital has been building online learning through a program called
Cure4Kids. This is an International Outreach Program that helps countries with limited resources
develop treatment centers to treat children with catastrophic disease such as AIDS and pediatric
cancer (Cure4Kids St. Jude Children s Research Hospital). This is a network that delivers
medical education to doctors and nurses to provide tools for communications and collaborations
among individuals on pediatric cancer and AIDS. The website for Cure4Kids is
(www.cure4kids.org) and it contains lectures, seminars, video streaming, and power points with
audio that is accessible to health care professional, nurse s, and doctors free of charge. These
lectures are also available in multiple languages so they are truly hitting their target market by
providing information to many countries. With this website in place there are online conferencing
tools used for delivering live lectures with images, power point slides, and collaborative white

Roman Empire
The Roman Empire was the post Republican period of the ancient Roman civilization,
characterized by government headed by emperors, and large territorial holdings around the
Mediterranean Sea in Europe, Africa, and Asia. The 500 year old republic which preceded it was
severely destabilized in a series of civil wars and political conflict, during which Julius Caesarwas
appointed as perpetual dictator and then assassinated in 44 BC. Civil wars and executions
continued, culminating in the victory of Octavian, Caesar s adopted son, over Mark Antonyand
Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC and the annexation of Egypt. Octavian s power was
now unassailable and in 27 BC the Roman Senate formally granted him overarching power and the

It was the largest empire of the Classical antiquity period, and one of the largest empires in world
history. At its height under Trajan, it covered 6.8 million square kilometers and held sway over
some 70 million people, at that time, 21% of the world s entire population. The longevity and vast
extent of the Empire ensured the lasting influence of Latin and Greek language, culture, religion,
inventions, architecture, philosophy, law and forms of government on the Empire s descendants.
Throughout the European medieval period, attempts were even made to establish successors to the
Roman Empire, including the Crusader state, the Empire of Romania and the Holy Roman Empire.
By means of European expansionism through the Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Italian,
German, British, Belgian empires, Roman and Greek culture was spread on a worldwide scale,
playing a significant role in the development of the modern world.
History
Rome had begun expanding shortly after the founding of the Republic in the 6th century BC,
though it didn t expand outside Italy until the 3rd century BC. In a sense then, it was an empire
long before it had an Emperor. The Roman Republic was not a nation state in the modern sense, but
a network of towns left to rule themselves and provinces administered by military commanders. It
was ruled, not by Emperors, but by annually elected magistrates in conjunction with the Senate. For
various reasons, the

Errors and Omissions Insurance: A Realtor s Must Have
No one s perfect. No matter how carefully realtors do their jobs provide training, conduct thorough
research, put a variety of controls in place, and accumulate years, even decades of experience
mistakes happen.
In addition, realtors can t possibly control everything their agents do and say all the time. For
example:
An agent sells the wrong lot of land
An agent fails to follow up on an email that includes an inspection report. The lack of oversight
results in a suit that was three times the purchase price of the home.
An agent flees the state after making a deal, leaving the clients and the realty company in trouble.
Worse still, frivolous claims can be made against an agency. Even from those unfounded or
frivolous claims, legal expenses must be paid no matter who wins in court, and those costs can be
devastating to a realtor s time and finances.

Financial Crisis After The Great Depression
2008 Financial Crisis Not since the great depression was there such a devastating economic
crisis as the 2008 financial crisis. A crisis rooted from the burst of the housing bubble in the U.S.
thus leading to the government being brought down, ruined economies, crumbled financial
corporations and impoverish lives of numerous individuals. As reported in McClean and Nocera
s All the Devils Are Here: The Hidden History of the Financial Crisis, the seeds of [the] financial
disaster were sown more than thirty years ago when three smart, ambitious men, working
sometimes in concert allies in a cause they all believed in and sometimes in opposition
competition trying to gain advantage over each other created a shiny new financial vehicle
called the mortgage backed security (McClean and Nocera). Therefore, the mortgage backed
security (MBS) is essentially the sole reason or seed that lead to the financial crisis. However,
the mortgage backed security is not totally to blame on Wall Street as it s not something that Wall
Street did entirely on its own. As the United States government aided and abetted them in certain
circumstances in which they changed laws to allow the fraudulent ways of the people on Wall
Street to continue on ( The Fall of the Market ). Ultimately, when Wall Street took part in the
financial sector its focus was to broaden the appeal of securities to wider range of investors to
create more capital for itself. The development of mortgage backed securities

Pathogenesis Of Asthma
A plethora of both genetic and environmental triggers contribute to the pathogenesis of asthma, one
of the most prevalent respiratory diseases in the world (Burney et al, 2015). Studies have found
environmental, physical and allergic triggers lead to exacerbation of disease in suffering
populations. Similarly, in the last decade, advances in genetic research has lead to studies linking
variation within specific genes and a vulnerability to developing asthma. Understanding asthma
associated triggers has the potential to contribute to successful disease management and treatment
and is critical to uncovering the pathogenesis and etiology of asthma.

School To Prison Pipeline Essay
The School to Prison Pipeline is a national trend wherein children are funneled out of public
schools and into the juvenile and criminal justice systems ( School to Prison Pipeline ). This
phenomenon brings children into the juvenile justice system at a very young age. An article
published in the journal Urban Education explains that, The school to prison pipeline
contributes to the atmosphere of increased surveillance of schools including police presence in
schools, zero tolerance policies, physical restraint tactics, and automatic consequence policies,
resulting in suspensions from school (Martin, Beese 2015). By increasing police presence in
schools, children are more likely to be searched, questioned, or targeted by police than they
would be without police present. And as a result, children are far more likely to be subject to
school based arrests the majority of which are for nonviolent offenses, such as disruptive
behavior than they were a generation ago ( School to Prison Pipeline ). For example, if a child
was misbehaving in class in a school that had a police presence, they could possibly get arrested
and sent to prison. But if a child was acting the same way in a school that did not have any police
presence, they would not be arrested. Police would most likely be present in a school in an urban
environment or poor neighborhood because more crimeoccurs in urban and poor places, so in
theory, by placing police in schools, they would be preventing any crimes

Pablo Neruda Persona Persona
In the world of flux where identity is transformed and transfixed in such a way that one has quest
for one s identity. Man is a combination of complex selves that he folds and unfolds time to time.
In the quest for identity, memory plays a vital role as it assimilates past experiences and
reevaluates identity and present scenario. For Pablo Neruda, a Chilean Poet and Diplomat, identity
is a constant periphery which circles around his multiple selves. Born and brought up in a small
village of Chile, Neruda is passionate about Nature, places and people. Inexhaustible traveler and
incessant acquaintance with the different people creates a deep influence on his creative writing.

Indus Valley Seals
The large and under appreciated civilization of the Indus Valley reveals treasures and
achievements of ancestors from our past. A seal from the Indus Valley has left historians and
archeologists puzzled about its possible meanings. Archeologists believe the seal could represent a
particular business, or even a prominent individual. The seals found could signify trade and
commerce amongst villages, representing their leaders, a sacrificial ritual, or protection and
procreation. In some ancient societies seals were used for printing an image on a document or
product. In the Indus Valley the seals often have images of animals and some kind of title or
inscription. Unfortunately the language written on these seals is still undeciphered. The specific...

To illustrate, the Indus civilization flourished a thousand years later than the Middle East and
North Africa. So these huge civilizations were already dominating the area, leaving the Indus
Valley in the shadows. Then Indian or South Asian civilizations moved toward the plains of the
Ganges River, which archeologists believed covered all that remained of the Indus (p.103). The
Indus Valley began to decline around 1700 B.C.E and was not rediscovered until the twentieth
century. Therefore decades passed before any recognition of the Indus Valley, causing erosion
and wear on the artifacts and history of the valley. All scholars have really uncovered are the
advanced cities and neighborhoods they made. This leaves a lot of room for potential
explanations about the civilization and their lives. Moreover, the script written on the seals found
are unrecognizable and archeologists cannot decode the language. The language written on these
seals is unlike any other dialect. In addition, our mindset compared to the people of the Indus
Valley is worlds apart. A plausible reason why people cannot decipher these intricate seals is our
mind are overcomplicating their meanings. I think we perplex, or over simplify, their dialect. We
are so in the dark about the interpretations of this ancient civilization and their seals because the
Indus Valley is foreign to us. Limited archeologist

Moral Rules Vs. Morality Essay
In Book three C.S Lewis Starts off the chapter but stating that moral rules are not designed to stop
happiness also he stated three significant parts of morality, first, fair play and happiness. Second
finding happiness or harmony pertaining to each person. Third, the purpose of humans, questioning
our purpose and out creator desire. Moralityis related with our actions whether we define them as
right or wrong. Morality many times is defined as guiding principles, without guiding principles a
society will fail because it will be unorganized
C.S Lewis states that morality is not designed to stop up from harmony. I agree, morality is a gift
given to us. Morality impact us in everyday life in our conscience. Consciuos is define from many
people has an issue of the heart, using the bible scripture for when Gentiles, who do not have the
law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves,
who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and
between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them All the people hae principle of
some kind , for Christian the principles might be the ten commandments and others.these standard
keep people from doing wrong at least if they do their conscience will come alive. The guilt some
bears due to an action that violated their morals can be fatal since we are continuality battleling

Guilt In And Then There Were None
In the novel, And Then There Were None, guilt affects most of the characters either consciously,
and subconsciously. This affects their behavior, dreams, or even leads to hallucinations. Vera
Claythorne and Dr. Armstrong both have their guilt effect their time on the island and even their
death. Both of their guilt grows by watching others on the island die. Vera Claythorne enters the

The History of Piercings and Tattoos
The History of Tattoos and Body Piercing
The largest organ in the human body is the skin. Some people choose to express themselves
through decorating their skin with tattoos, piercing and other kinds of body art. It s true origin,
symbolism, variety, and modern day versions go way back in time.
The first tattoo known to man, was found on Otzi, the Iceman , in 1991. Otzi himself is from
around 4,000 B.C. Fifty eight tattoos were found on him, they were all made of lines and dots. No
real symbolism could be made out of the designs. But scientists have a theory that these tattoos
were part of some sort of medical or spiritual healing process.

Ear lobe piercing is the most common and oldest type of piercing. This was also found on Otzi.
He had pierced ears that had been stretched to eleven millimeters around. Roman soldiers and
warriors would pierce their nipples for mainly two reasons. One was to show strength, courage,
and bravery, and the second was for the use of hanging their capes off of their leather
breastplates when in a battle. Nipple piercing in women started in the 14th century when the
necklines of dresses dropped so incredibly low that practically half of the women s breast would
be exposed. So they would decorate the nipple with gold chains, diamonds, silver, and other stuff
to make them more attractive. Other piercing were used to make the body more decorative and
attractive to their personal liking. Reasons for piercing are different. One reason is that a person
wants to decorate their body because they think it makes them beautiful, or it is a custom in their
family. The most common piercing is piercing of the earlobe. Men and women are both seen with
studs, or rings in their lobes. The second most common, believe it or not, is the piercing of the
septum. Other common piercing are of the tongue, bellybutton, nose, and eyebrow. Body art is
popular because it makes a person feel different, or special....in a way. They can be reminded of a
turning point in their life through tattoos. Piercing is popular because it can accent and draw

Essay On Revenge Of The Whale By Nathaniel Shilbrick
The novel Revenge of the Whale, as written by Nathaniel Philbrick, describes the harsh journey
of a crew aboard The Essex who are abandoned after having their ship attacked by a sperm whale.
There are three crucial parts to the Revenge of the Whale storyline; the first blood, the whale
attack that split the crew apart, and the jarring conditions near the end of the book where the crew
was at the edge of sanity.
The first scene that I would include in the movie would be the first blood that was drawn from the
whale(s) The Essex encountered. This scene is crucial for the movie because it explains how the
crew got their resources from the harpooned whale. These resources include blubber, spermaceti,
and ambergris. This situation could not be left out without changing the original story because it
shows the excitement and galavant smiles on the crew mate s faces. Also, without having
harpooned and killed the whale, the crew wouldn t have collected these items to earn money to
provide for their families. They all coaxed and cajoled their crews with words that evoked the
savagery, excitement, and blood lust associated with pursuing one of the largest mammals on the

The Multiplier Online Games ( Mog )
1. Introduction:
Multiplier Online Games (MOG) are one kind of real time applications. These are developed
using either centralized architecture (Client Server Architecture) also known as traditional
architecture or using distributed architecture (Peer to Peer Architecture). Some games are
developed using a combination of these two architectures known as Mirrored Server
Architecture (Hsu, Ling, Li, Kuo, 2003). In general, games are two types. One is role based
playing games where players role is fixed. Other is real time strategy based games where player s
actions dynamic. The Quake, Galaxy Star Wars, EVE, Warcraft are some examples of multiplayer
online games (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004). For entertainment purpose and for a virtual experience,
people are showing greater interest in MOG. In recent years, organizations started to using
distributed architecture or Peer to Peer (P P) architecture for developing MOG due to its
robustness, scalability, and flexibility. The well known traditional client serverarchitecture has
limited scalability and robustness and it requires the high cost to maintain servers when online
players are massive (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004).
The MOG requires two kinds of platforms. One is physical platform contain hardware and network.
Another is logical platform focuses on system architecture such as software development for
players and hosts according to hardware management. The theme of the logical platform is

Building A Computer That Can Handle Any Game
Computers consist of many different parts that, in order to perform a specific task, have to work
in unison. It s becoming more and more popular to build a PC rather than buying a pre assembled
one because many companies just rip people off. My fascination with building computers peaked
when I tried to play a game called Minecraft, but instead of the game loading up as it did on my

Supreme Court Decisions Essay
Supreme Court Decisions Rungwe Rungwe Constitutional Law (LS305 01) Assignment Chapter 4
10/16/2011 The Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states The right of the people to be

United States, the Supreme Court did not see that as unreasonable search . In the 1928, case of
Olmstead v. United States the issue of whether of wiretapping constituted a search for purpose of
the Fourth Amendment was interpreted. Olmstead was convicted of conspiring to violate the
National Prohibition Act based on evidence obtained by tapping his telephone line from a junction
box located on the public street (Kanovitz, 2010, p.267). According to the text, The Court,
nevertheless, rejected Olmstead s claim that his Fourth Amendment rights were violated. A search,
the Court declared, requires a physical intrusion into a constitutionally protected location and a
seizure, the taking of tangible things. Olmstead s Fourth Amendment rights were not violated by
the interception of his telephone conversations because government agents never set foot on his
property or took anything tangible; his telephone conversations were acquired through their sense
of hearing only ( Kanovitz, 2010, p.267). According to Katz, physical intrusion is not necessary to
fall within the meaning of a search because what a person seeks to preserve as private, even in an
area accessible to the public should remain private and the person has a right to expect privacy,
hence the Fourth Amendment right should apply. For instance, Katz usage of telephone booth
provided the environment that allowed him to carry the

Human Services Professional or Social Workers Code and Ethics
There is a pressing need for a high level of worker/client boundary identification when working
within a client population, however realizing a conflict of interest scenario is vitally important
when facing a dual relationship with a client. There are so many issues that are faced by a human
service professional, explaining all of them may be difficult. In this field there are issues such as
burnout, secondary trauma, compassion satisfaction, dual relationships, and boundary issues.

In some circumstances a social worker may self expose some things that may be helpful to the
client in some ways, but be harmful in others and possibly may jeopardize the trust that the client
has in the social worker. (Reamer, F. (2012). Determining the outcome is difficult; basically you
have to pick you battles per say.
As a social worker and or a human services worker we must focus on helping the client and the
best interest of the client. In certain situations, we all carry to our picked range of work our own
particular convictions and qualities. (SWT) Most of the clients that you come across and that
you will help will be helpless, that would be why we are working with them, and are in need of a
buffer from anymore abuse. We may need to change some of these convictions keeping in mind
the end goal to work agreeably and for the best conclusion of our clients in the work setting.
Maintaining a healthy relationship with your client you must keep tabs on moral issues identified
by the code of conduct that you agree to when you decide to work in this field, you have to be
attentive to individual qualities and how they may effect of the quality of care that you give.
In conclusion there are ways to maintain the healthy relationship with your client. No matter when
the dual relationship may occur, before during or after, it should be avoided at all cost if it

Mockingbird Poster
For my project, I cut a poster board to make a bird. In fact, I made the mockingbird. I drew the
bird on a white poster board first to experiment. It took me three tries to draw the bird on the
white poster board. I cut the bird out and used the white poster board as a tracer on the black
poster board. Then I cut the final product out on the black poster board. On the bird I taped
pictures of Jem, Scout, and Atticus on there. Under the pictures I wrote and the name and the
facts of that character. In the rest of the space on the bird, I wrote down quotes with the page

Marketing Australia for the Commonwealth Games
As a part of the marketing team for the commonwealth games hosted in Glasgow in 2014, I have
decided to market in Australia. I have chosen Australia, on account of them winning the event 11
times. Personally, I think they will have a larger a fan base due to the fact they are favourites of
winning the event once again. Another reason to why I chose Australiais by virtue of them having a
longstanding relationship with Scotland. In 2011 a census was carried out and 103,204 citizens
where Scottish Australians and 1,792,600 claimed Scottish ancestry (National Records of Scotland,
2011). Statistics listed in the above will make it more inviting for tourist from Australia to come
and watch the Commonwealth games.
PEST Analysis
POLITICAL
The UK Government (Scotland wise) have a strong tie with the Australian Government. VISA
processes will be easier to obtain, even though Australia is not in the EU. There is an Australian
consulate within Edinburgh. Therefore, families can help other family members back in Australia
to attain the UK Visa. In Australia, the Scottish embassy can be located in Sydney, Canberra and
Perth. As part of my marketing plan, handing out brochures and flyers about the commonwealth
games in Scotland inside all the Consulates and Embassies regarding Scotland and Australia will be
incredibly beneficial in receiving more tourists for the event. A contract stating that during the
Commonwealth games VISA s should not be longer than a month, in order to avoid

Essay about Christendom and The Song of Roland
The Song of Roland is the oldest epic poem in French, written by an anonymous poet, composed
in between late eleven century to twelfth century. This epic poetry holds an important place in
the history of France and invention of Christendom. The Song of Roland is a cultural artifact
that takes us to the journey of Medieval Europe, when religion becomes an important element
for the formation of proto Europe. Religion plays a crucial role in The Song of Roland and
becomes the reason of criticism. Some readers might take this poem as a religious text, whereas,

religion is selected to separate others . The misrepresentation of Muslims as pagans can be found
throughout the poem, which helps Christians to recognize themselves righteous and superior to

Psychoanalytic Analysis of Looking for Alaska Essay

PSYCHOANALYTIC ANALYSIS OF LOOKING FOR ALASKA
It seems natural to think about novels in terms of dreams or psychoanalytical realities. Like dreams,
novels are fictions, inventions of the mind that, though based on reality, are by definition not
exactly and literally true. Conversely, dreams may have some truth to tell but like novels their truth
must be interpreted before it can be grasped. Such is the case with John Green s young adult novel,
Looking for Alaska. It holds many truths that are relevant to young adults, but to extract those
lessons, one must first view the plot and characters through a lens of psychoanalytical theory. ...

And finally, the beautifully damaged, larger than life Alaska Young. As her name implies, she is so
young to have the problems that she has and meet such an untimely demise. She is also aptly
named Alaska because she is (or wishes to be) an unknown, mysterious, possibly dangerous frontier
to her schoolmates. We learn well into the novel, that Alaska experienced a horrible tragedy when
she was little: her mother had an aneurysm and died in front of her. Alaska, in shock, was unable to
take any action to save her mother and has since tried to control situations with her own volatility
and unpredictability. She manipulates those around her by alternating between being a
misunderstood victim and an instigator of mischief.
As an adult reader who has crossed over to the reality of life, reading about these characters can
be a transparent, futile exercise because as adults looking back at youth we have the experience
to know where these characters are headed before they even start their journey. However, for
young adults who are still in the throes of existential angst this is a powerful novel that handles
teenage rites of passage and coming of age issues such as loyalty, friendship, belonging, and even
death and loss very well.

Common Core Stat Standards ( Ccss )
An Introduction of the Topic
Common Core Stat Standards (CCSS) is an interesting topic of discussion and debate because it
is such a charged topic. CCSS are a set of standards that are set equally amongst all states, as
opposed to states creating their own standards, with significant monetary benefits for states that
accept and exceed standards set by CCSS. This topic in particular is interesting because of how
politically charged it is. Some individuals think of it as a big government takeover of what should
be handled at a local level, or at the very highest, state level. These standards are important to nearly
every aspect of education: teachers, school administration, students, parents, lawmakers, and even
textbook and test authors. My treatment of the CCSS standards is fair, however, I willingly admit
that I do take a few punches at those who willingly misinterpret the very excellent goals of CCSS.
Historical Overview
The road to what is called Common Core is one of evolution of the methods of Education. The
idea of Common Core is to increase the benchmark that students at the end of their high school
careers are able to meet in order to better prepare students for life after high school, be it college
or the working world. The idea of creating a rigorous set of standards for students heading to
college is not a new notion. Jennifer Wallender writes that there is historical precedence for creating
standards going back to the 1892 Committee of Ten, which wanted to

Greg In Scripture
Greg then launches into the topic of prayer, he says, The Pharisees were caught up in repeating
ritualized prayers over and over again. They seemed to believe that the longer the prayer, the
more spiritual and pleasing to God. But God isn t interested in eloquence. Not at all. Prayer
should come from the heart. He isn t interested in how perfectly our prayers sound, or whether
they rhyme, or whether we throw in any King James English, or how long they are. He is
concerned with how genuine they are. One of the most eloquent prayers in Scripture comes from a
man who said, God, be merciful to me a sinner! (Luke 18:13). Now that is an effective prayer. That
is a man who was honest with God. He said what he was thinking and simply laid it out before the
Lord. And guess what? Jesus Himself said that man s prayer was heard. Greg then goes on to use

China And China Trade Agreement
Abstract Nowadays, China plays a more and more important role in world economy due to its
large population and rapid economy growth. Canada and China are both APEC member, Canada is
one of the most developed countries, and China is a developing country that is essential to the
world economy. Therefore, by investigating the impact of trade agreement on relationship between
the two countries could provide some insights of whether countries should join free trade
agreement when they have opportunity. At the same time, by reviewing the rate of GDP growth
for Canada and China could give us some information about how much each country gains from
trade and who can benefit more from free trade. Under the globalization, it is very rare and costly
for a country to produce everything she needs; the variations of productive factors allow countries
to produce in their comparative advantages and trade with each other. In this way, countries should
know how to allocate their resources efficiently to achieve optimal result during time in trade.
Introduction Given the rapid economic growth of China and its large population, along with
globalization, China became the second largest economy in the world and the second largest
trading partner of Canada. With its increasing importance and essential role in global economy, it is
critical to understand that the trade relationship between Canada and China and the factors that

self preservation, as Lennie was a big man whom had recently mangled Curley s hand, but he

There is nothing more terribly beautiful than the snow stricken streets of New York City.

An Interview with Dr. Roseman
Leadership has been examined and defined by several theorists through the generations. The
Webster dictionary defines the word as followed, a guide, conductor; a person who directs a
military force or unit, a person who has commanding authority or influence... This paper will
provide other viewpoints summarized by various theorists. The main purpose is to review the
interview conducted with Dr. Marilyn Roseman, the head of the education department of Mount
Aloysius College, and analyze what leadership model she seems to follow.
Leadership Theories Six styles of leadership are going to be examined in this paper; transactional,
transformational, servant, charismatic, contingency, and strategic. ... Show more content on

Servant Servant leadership breaks the tradition of top down leadership. According to Schwartes
(2015), there are ten characteristics an effective servant leader should follow. The effective leader
utilizes active listening and thoughtful responses with their followers. They use empathy; they
listen without demonstrating judgement. The environment should be safe and the leader should
feel that they are a whole person. The leader is aware of the surroundings; they are the expert in
their environment. The leader utilizes persuasion and conceptualization; the followers are free to
express their thoughts without repercussions and that problems will be solved proactively. The
leader also demonstrates a commitment to their community by showing that they serve the overall
need of the servants and environment.
Charismatic
The charismatic leadership model is similar to the transformational style of leadership; they
focus on treating the followers as a whole person that is a vital part of the organization. The
leader will be proactive with problems and find solutions before the problems arise. They will
assess the situation, identify the possible problems, analyze the environment for solutions, and
verbalize the plan to the team members to produce an effect of on boarding. The leadership model
is said to be effective based on the fact that the leader is building on self esteem and self worth

Good Food Revolution Analysis
In the book Good Food Revolution, it focuses on the main point of Will Allen s life and how he
has always been around food. I believe the book does a good job with tying in different
connections and references with food and with Will Allen since he has grown up around food
ever since he was little. When the book states The fate of a seed can be predicted by the health of
the soil where it takes the rootI believe that Will Allen is referring and connecting it back to
himself. I believe he relates this to himself because a plant s roots are surrounded by soil and
Will Allen has planted his roots around farming and food. A plant needs soil to survive and Will
Allen needed farming to survive. His whole life and job has revolved around planting. A plant
lives off of what it knows and its surroundings and Will Allen did the same. His parents planted
the seed to get the initial start in farming so he picks up where they left off. Even though he was
not into farming when he was younger he learned to grow and find a passion for farming as he
grew older because it has always been around him. No matter where he went he held onto farming
because that is all he knew. I believe this connection between Will Allen and the quote about the
plant enhances and helps tell the story of how Will Allen got involved in farming.
The connection The Good Food Revolution tries to also make is between ecology and human
development. Ecology is about dealing with relations of organisms to one another

Balance Sheet And Income Statements
In the world of business, it is crucial to keep track of revenues and expenses in order to evaluate the
economic condition of one s business. Other than revenues and expenses, accountants must also
document the changes within a business s assets and liabilities. Changes in assets and liabilities
affect the owner s equity. The revenue and expense accounts are recorded in the income statement,
while assets, liabilities, and owner s equity are recorded in the balance sheet. The balance sheet and
income statements make up the general ledger. The purpose of a subsidiary ledger, also known as a
subledger or subaccount, is to show the details of a specific account under the general ledger.
The subsidiary ledger updates companies on the spending trends of each individual customer.
Consequently, the subsidiary ledger can also inform the company of debts it owes to other
companies or organizations. The ending balance in the subsidiary ledger should be equivalent to
the ending balance in the controlling account, which is a summary of the general ledger. Not all
accounts in the general ledger require a subsidiary ledger. Typically, accounts with a high amount
of transactions call for a subsidiary ledger. This is extremely common in big companies that
provide services in exchange for cash. By having subsidiary ledgers, large corporations can keep
better records of their fiscal information. These organized records, in turn, give owners a chance to
evaluate the productivity of the

The Requirements Of Australian Standards
Accounting for Business Combinations and its relevant issues under the requirements of Australian
standards have raised a considerable number of concerns, and therefore remained controversial for
both accountants and scholars who have been struggling to deal with the practical and theoretical
development of the Accounting industry. Regardless of such difficulties, due to the undeniable
meaning of Accounting practices and the enormity of transactions involved on a daily basis, it is of
great importance to research, study and understand the application of Business combination
Accounting according to Australian requirements.
As a matter of fact, within the limitation of a short paper, this study aims to provide a critical
review on the Accounting issues in Business combination under the requirement of Australian
standards or to be specific, under the conceptual framework provided by the Australian Accounting
Standard Board (AASB.) Firstly, evaluation on the exclusions from the scope of AASB 3 is brought
about, followed by the implications of the requirement to use the acquisition method of accounting
for business combinations, the determination of fair value of assets, the reasons why fair value
method is chosen in a business combination and lastly, a review on the nature and treatment of
goodwill or bargain purchase from these particular transactions will be mentioned.
Exclusions from the scope of AASB 3
First of all, the determination of Business combination stated in

The Narrative Voice in the Lovely Bones
In the novel The Lovely Bones (TLB) by Alice Sebold, the narrative voice is the key technique
that hooks the reader and compels him or her to turn over the page. While the author uses a number
of other literary techniques to draw the reader in, it is the narrator s voice that is this novel s most
interesting and appealing feature. The narrativevoice in this novel is unique to other novels because
the narratoris a girl named Susie Salmon who is speaking from heaven. This is a distinctive point
in the novel because it gives us the story from the perspective from others and we experience
themes in the book that we never experienced before.
Firstly the narrator of the book TLB is a teenaged girl named Susie Salmon who has been raped
at murdered by a man named Mr. Harvey. Susie lived in a small American town and was killed
in a cornfield at the age of 14. We know that she is talking from the after life because she tells us
from the first page I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973 . She then starts to
narrate the novel from the afterlife. This perspective allows us this point of view to experience
the narrator and the people she is connected with in a way we have never touched upon before.
Susie can tell the mood of a person, what he/she is thinking at the time, what they are going to do
next and it s because of the way she can interpret the emotions of other people that makes the
narrative voice of this novel it s unique selling point
Secondly the narrator

The appropriate assessment of patients prior to surgery to identify coexisting medical problems and
to plan peri operative care is of increasing importance. The goals of peri operative assessment are to
identify important medical issues in order to optimise their treatment, inform the patient of the risks
associated with surgery, and ensure care is provided in an appropriate environment secondly to
identify important social issues which may have a bearing on the planned procedure and the
recovery period and to familiarise the patient with the planned procedure and the hospital
processes.(American Society of Anaesthesiologists)
Clearly the peri operative evaluation should include a careful history and physical examination,
together with structured questions related to the planned procedure. Simple questions related to
exercise tolerance (such as can you climb a flight of stairs without shortness of breath) will often
yield as much useful information as complex tests of cardiorespiratory reserve. The clinical
evaluation will be coupled with a number of blood and radiological tests to complete the clinical
evaluation. There is considerable debate as to the value of many of the routine tests performed, and

The Story Of My Life
Mom, Leya s gonna be over any second to pick me up for school. I figured I d go ahead and tell you
bye since you don t look like you re coming down anytime soon. I plucked a sloppy kiss on her
cheek as she gave me an awkward half hug while shuffling through some more papers on her desk
in a nonplussed manner.
Sorry, Babe. Have a good day at school. Oh, before you leave! I dreadfully turned back to face her
in the doorway, aware that I now had her full attention for a reason I could tell that I wasn t going
to like. This Charlie kid... he seems pleasant enough. Are you two... more than just friends, by

If you re more than that, does that mean I get to come into your room?! he called from behind me
before I could open the door.
This caused me to snap my head back with my mouth completely agape as I took in the same
stupid smile on his face. How dare you?! Just... wait out here! UGH! He had me flustered, and
he knew it; I could tell by the cackle that next rose from the depths of his throat. I proceeded to
change into the only clean clothes I appeared to have left: an off the shoulder, mid sleeve cream
blouse that Eric s ex girlfriend had gotten me for my birthday (it was one of his longest
relationships, and she was one committed gal) and a pair of blue jean shorts that Leya had left at
my place. It was just my luck that I had to wear the most uncomfortable thing I owned the day
Charlie unexpectedly decided to show up.
Mal? That you? Is something the matter? my mother called from the farthest reaches of her study.
Nothing, Ma! Just forgot my textbook! I yelled back.
All right! Be careful next time! We can t afford anything that s going to hinder you from getting a
scholarship! I knew she meant well, but the pressure still rose at the sharing of that comment.
Course, Mom! I then slipped quietly out the door and cleaned up the yogurt with the paper towels I
had grabbed from the kitchen on my way out the second time. I put the mess in the trash can out by

18th Century Popular Sovereignty
The concept of popular sovereignty had a significant impact on government systems in the
eighteenth century as it spurred on the revolutions of the Americans and the French. In the
following century, it altered establishments in countries such as Japan who viewed a parliament as
necessary to be competitive with nations already governed by the will of the people. However,
popular sovereignty had a wide influence that expanded beyond government structure as it also led
to societal changes associated with modernity, including universal education. Britain serves as a
prime example because after passing the Representation of People Act of 1867, which extended the
right to vote and doubled the size of the previous electorate, it soon ratified the Elementary... Show

It was enacted due to public demand; there were flaws within the House of Commons, including
the corruption and aristocratic dominance, which caused protests. The working class began to
demand more power to institute change, but they were often excluded as the first act had
restricted voting to those who had property worth ten pounds. The act in 1867 lowered this
restriction to five pounds, which enfranchised nearly all the working class in city boroughs.
Consequently, there was apprehension within the legislative body that the voters would misuse
their newfound rights. Specifically, the Conservative party, primarily supported by the middle
class, worried it would be displaced by the Liberal party as its support came from the working
class. The concern was the working class would blindly follow each other, and therefore, the liberal
ideology, rather than make their own decisions. The two parties compromised by working toward
an educational reform to promote individual thought. It also allowed for more social mobility, so
the working class had more opportunity to transition into the middle

ways.
2. In the absence of oxygen some cells and organisms can use glycolysis coupled to fermentation to
produce energy from the sugar created by photosynthesis. A. A number of organisms in the
nonexistence of oxygen from time to time go through a course of action described as fermentation.
Fermentation permits these organisms to create energy under anaerobic conditions according to
(www.sci.uidaho.edu. 2008).
B. In a biological system energy comes into as light or photons. Through cellular methods including
photosynthesis and respiration it is converted into chemical energy. Carbohydrates are developed
throughout the infusion of carbon dioxide and hydrogen. Subsequently energy is stored in ATP
(adenosine triphosphate).
3. Cells use enzymes as biological catalysts to increase or accelerate the rate of reactions, such as
those in photosynthesis or glycolysis. This allows reactions to occur under conditions that sustain
life.
A. Enzymes boost reaction rates by lessening the quality of energy necessary to form a compound
of reactants. Enzymes expedite the chemical reaction in living things. Without them, it would take
a long time for food to be digested and our bones and muscles would not work as well. The most

Jim Cullen And The American Dream
The American Dream, as defined by Cullen, is starting your goal off with a little and ending with
more; it s like a business, you invest in it in order to gain more money. Usually, people will define
the American Dream as being able to achieve your goal because everyone is offered opportunities.
Cullen does acknowledge that people are born with different opportunities, so he talks about the
good life. The good life describes different factors that determine your opportunities. Throughout the
other readings, I ve come to find that most authors portray the American Dreamas an idea that has
died or caused sadness, but could be revived.

Which is not necessarily to say that applied intelligence and effort don t play a role. Hard work
may be required, but it is not as difficult to work in a calm area compared to a place where it s

priority than books, but not all the time. This dream guarantees people to have vacations in the
beach rather than having to work all the time. It is not as time consuming compared to the first
dream. All in all, Cullen describes these two dreams as obvious evidence that they are nowhere
near alike, but it falls under the category of, The Dream of the Good Life.
Jim Cullen, the author of the American Dream, describes the transition of Puritans wanting to go to
heaven to people gambling as a possible necessity for achieving a Good Life. The transition
described by Cullen went from people gambling during Sabbath, to taking risks and built up to
where people were gambling on a daily basis. The Puritans objected the idea of gambling and
thought it was not necessary for them to achieve their good life which was heaven. However,
during Sabbath, a day where people did not work because they believed that it was a God of law
of God, people had other intentions, Especially because gambling so often took on the

  • 2. The Charter At Suffolk Speech And Hearing Center The covenant not to compete that Ms. Rice signed as a part of her employment contract at Suffolk Speech and Hearing Center ( Suffolk Speech ) is most likely going to be found enforceable. As found in Technical Aid Corp v. Allen, there is a three prong test to determine whether or not a restrictive covenant is reasonable and therefore enforceable. 591 A.2d 262, 265 66 (N.H. 1991). The first being, is the restriction greater than is necessary to protect the legitimate interests of the employer. Id. Secondly, does the restriction impose an undue hardship on the employee. Id. at 266. And lastly, is the restriction injurious to the public. Id. For the purposes of this memo, only the first two elements will be analyzed as the third has already been found to be a non issue. Because the covenant that Ms. Rice signed at the start of her employment at Suffolk Speech was reasonable in that it protects Suffolk speech from competition in an appropriate surrounding area that does not pose an undue hardship, it will be very difficult for the court to deem the covenant unenforceable. The first issue that must go satisfied or unsatisfied is whether or not the restriction from the covenant not to compete was greater than necessary to protect to legitimate interests of Suffolk Speech. Id. The court must evaluate a few things when determining whether this element is satisfied or not. Important factors to determine if the restriction is greater than necessary includes the size of the company, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Roman Empire The Roman Empire was the post Republican period of the ancient Roman civilization, characterized by government headed by emperors, and large territorial holdings around the Mediterranean Sea in Europe, Africa, and Asia. The 500 year old republic which preceded it was severely destabilized in a series of civil wars and political conflict, during which Julius Caesarwas appointed as perpetual dictator and then assassinated in 44 BC. Civil wars and executions continued, culminating in the victory of Octavian, Caesar s adopted son, over Mark Antonyand Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC and the annexation of Egypt. At its height under Trajan, it covered 6.8 million square kilometers and held sway over some 70 million people, at that time, 21% of the world s entire population. The longevity and vast extent of the Empire ensured the lasting influence of Latin and Greek language, culture, religion, inventions, architecture, philosophy, law and forms of government on the Empire s descendants. Throughout the European medieval period, attempts were even made to establish successors to the Roman Empire, including the Crusader state, the Empire of Romania and the Holy Roman Empire. By means of European expansionism through the Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Italian, German, British, Belgian empires, Roman and Greek culture was spread on a worldwide scale, playing a significant role in the development of the modern world. History Rome had begun expanding shortly after the founding of the Republic in the 6th century BC, though it didn t expand outside Italy until the 3rd century BC. In a sense then, it was an empire long before it had an Emperor. • 11. Financial Crisis After The Great Depression 2008 Financial Crisis Not since the great depression was there such a devastating economic crisis as the 2008 financial crisis. A crisis rooted from the burst of the housing bubble in the U.S. thus leading to the government being brought down, ruined economies, crumbled financial corporations and impoverish lives of numerous individuals. As reported in McClean and Nocera s All the Devils Are Here: The Hidden History of the Financial Crisis, the seeds of [the] financial disaster were sown more than thirty years ago when three smart, ambitious men, working sometimes in concert allies in a cause they all believed in and sometimes in opposition competition trying to gain advantage over each other created a shiny new financial vehicle called the mortgage backed security (McClean and Nocera). Therefore, the mortgage backed security (MBS) is essentially the sole reason or seed that lead to the financial crisis. However, the mortgage backed security is not totally to blame on Wall Street as it s not something that Wall Street did entirely on its own. As the United States government aided and abetted them in certain circumstances in which they changed laws to allow the fraudulent ways of the people on Wall Street to continue on ( The Fall of the Market ). Ultimately, when Wall Street took part in the financial sector its focus was to broaden the appeal of securities to wider range of investors to create more capital for itself. • 14. School To Prison Pipeline Essay The School to Prison Pipeline is a national trend wherein children are funneled out of public schools and into the juvenile and criminal justice systems ( School to Prison Pipeline ). This phenomenon brings children into the juvenile justice system at a very young age. An article published in the journal Urban Education explains that, The school to prison pipeline contributes to the atmosphere of increased surveillance of schools including police presence in schools, zero tolerance policies, physical restraint tactics, and automatic consequence policies, resulting in suspensions from school (Martin, Beese 2015). By increasing police presence in schools, children are more likely to be searched, questioned, or targeted by police than they would be without police present. And as a result, children are far more likely to be subject to school based arrests the majority of which are for nonviolent offenses, such as disruptive behavior than they were a generation ago ( School to Prison Pipeline ). For example, if a child was misbehaving in class in a school that had a police presence, they could possibly get arrested and sent to prison. But if a child was acting the same way in a school that did not have any police presence, they would not be arrested. Police would most likely be present in a school in an urban environment or poor neighborhood because more crimeoccurs in urban and poor places, so in theory, by placing police in schools, they would be preventing any crimes ... A search, the Court declared, requires a physical intrusion into a constitutionally protected location and a seizure, the taking of tangible things. Olmstead s Fourth Amendment rights were not violated by the interception of his telephone conversations because government agents never set foot on his property or took anything tangible; his telephone conversations were acquired through their sense of hearing only ( Kanovitz, 2010, p.267). Conversely, dreams may have some truth to tell but like novels their truth must be interpreted before it can be grasped. Such is the case with John Green s young adult novel, Looking for Alaska. As an adult reader who has crossed over to the reality of life, reading about these characters can be a transparent, futile exercise because as adults looking back at youth we have the experience to know where these characters are headed before they even start their journey. However, for young adults who are still in the throes of existential angst this is a powerful novel that handles teenage rites of passage and coming of age issues such as loyalty, friendship, belonging, and even death and loss very well. • 34. Common Core Stat Standards ( Ccss ) An Introduction of the Topic Common Core Stat Standards (CCSS) is an interesting topic of discussion and debate because it is such a charged topic. CCSS are a set of standards that are set equally amongst all states, as opposed to states creating their own standards, with significant monetary benefits for states that accept and exceed standards set by CCSS. This topic in particular is interesting because of how politically charged it is. Some individuals think of it as a big government takeover of what should be handled at a local level, or at the very highest, state level. These standards are important to nearly every aspect of education: teachers, school administration, students, parents, lawmakers, and even textbook and test authors. My treatment of the CCSS standards is fair, however, I willingly admit that I do take a few punches at those who willingly misinterpret the very excellent goals of CCSS. Historical Overview The road to what is called Common Core is one of evolution of the methods of Education. The idea of Common Core is to increase the benchmark that students at the end of their high school careers are able to meet in order to better prepare students for life after high school, be it college or the working world. The idea of creating a rigorous set of standards for students heading to college is not a new notion. Jennifer Wallender writes that there is historical precedence for creating standards going back to the 1892 Committee of Ten, which wanted to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Greg In Scripture Greg then launches into the topic of prayer, he says, The Pharisees were caught up in repeating ritualized prayers over and over again. They seemed to believe that the longer the prayer, the more spiritual and pleasing to God. But God isn t interested in eloquence. Not at all. Prayer should come from the heart. He isn t interested in how perfectly our prayers sound, or whether they rhyme, or whether we throw in any King James English, or how long they are. He is concerned with how genuine they are. One of the most eloquent prayers in Scripture comes from a man who said, God, be merciful to me a sinner! (Luke 18:13). Now that is an effective prayer. That is a man who was honest with God. He said what he was thinking and simply laid it out before the Lord. And guess what? Jesus Himself said that man s prayer was heard. To what extent does he create sympathy for either of these characters? Of Mice and Men is set in 1930 s America in the middle of the economic depression. It is geared towards the pursuit of the American dream, promoting the ideas of equality, life, liberty and happiness. Steinbeck uses Crooks, and to some extent Curley s wife to challenge the perception of equality and sometimes the language used is, by modern standards, racist and misogynistic. While he is trying to make the point that although Lennie has George, he is all alone, he enjoys tormenting Lennie Crooks face lighted with pleasure in his torture. (Steinbeck, 1937, p75). Perhaps this was one of the few opportunities he had to sharpen his mind, and he seized it. However, he was quick enough to realise the danger when Lennie was upset and backed down immediately. This was undoubtedly self preservation, as Lennie was a big man whom had recently mangled Curley s hand, but he may have realised he had gone too far and wanted to rectify the situation. To remain relevant the artillery had no other alternative, but to progress with the other tools of warfare. Beneath a greying evening sky, and between tall buildings of steel, are big flakes of swirling snow that drift and lightly cover every street lamp, branch, shoulder and patch of pavement untouched by moving feet. Patrick Sole, a man without a home, is slumped, in wet, grey slush, against a brick wall. He does not twitch, he does not tremble. And if white begins to blanket his tattered coat, and if his frostnipped fingers begin to numb; well, he does not stir. For how long he has sat there, he does not know, for he looks and feels as white as a ghost. With an icy puff of breath, Patrick blinks slowly and blankly observes the blur of faces before him. As the evening sky blackens, the bustle of the street grows noisier and is lit vividly by street lamps, lights, cars and electronic billboards. I believe the book does a good job with tying in different connections and references with food and with Will Allen since he has grown up around food ever since he was little. When the book states The fate of a seed can be predicted by the health of the soil where it takes the rootI believe that Will Allen is referring and connecting it back to himself. I believe he relates this to himself because a plant s roots are surrounded by soil and Will Allen has planted his roots around farming and food. A plant needs soil to survive and Will Allen needed farming to survive. His whole life and job has revolved around planting. A plant lives off of what it knows and its surroundings and Will Allen did the same. His parents planted the seed to get the initial start in farming so he picks up where they left off. Even though he was not into farming when he was younger he learned to grow and find a passion for farming as he grew older because it has always been around him. No matter where he went he held onto farming because that is all he knew. I believe this connection between Will Allen and the quote about the plant enhances and helps tell the story of how Will Allen got involved in farming. The connection The Good Food Revolution tries to also make is between ecology and human development. Ecology is about dealing with relations of organisms to one another ... Other than revenues and expenses, accountants must also document the changes within a business s assets and liabilities. Changes in assets and liabilities affect the owner s equity. The revenue and expense accounts are recorded in the income statement, while assets, liabilities, and owner s equity are recorded in the balance sheet. The balance sheet and income statements make up the general ledger. The purpose of a subsidiary ledger, also known as a subledger or subaccount, is to show the details of a specific account under the general ledger. The subsidiary ledger updates companies on the spending trends of each individual customer. Consequently, the subsidiary ledger can also inform the company of debts it owes to other companies or organizations. The ending balance in the subsidiary ledger should be equivalent to the ending balance in the controlling account, which is a summary of the general ledger. Not all accounts in the general ledger require a subsidiary ledger. Typically, accounts with a high amount of transactions call for a subsidiary ledger. The Narrative Voice in the Lovely Bones In the novel The Lovely Bones (TLB) by Alice Sebold, the narrative voice is the key technique that hooks the reader and compels him or her to turn over the page. While the author uses a number of other literary techniques to draw the reader in, it is the narrator s voice that is this novel s most interesting and appealing feature. The narrativevoice in this novel is unique to other novels because the narratoris a girl named Susie Salmon who is speaking from heaven. This is a distinctive point in the novel because it gives us the story from the perspective from others and we experience themes in the book that we never experienced before. Firstly the narrator of the book TLB is a teenaged girl named Susie Salmon who has been raped at murdered by a man named Mr. Harvey. Susie lived in a small American town and was killed in a cornfield at the age of 14. We know that she is talking from the after life because she tells us from the first page I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973 . She then starts to narrate the novel from the afterlife. This perspective allows us this point of view to experience the narrator and the people she is connected with in a way we have never touched upon before. • 54. 18th Century Popular Sovereignty The concept of popular sovereignty had a significant impact on government systems in the eighteenth century as it spurred on the revolutions of the Americans and the French. In the following century, it altered establishments in countries such as Japan who viewed a parliament as necessary to be competitive with nations already governed by the will of the people. However, popular sovereignty had a wide influence that expanded beyond government structure as it also led to societal changes associated with modernity, including universal education. Britain serves as a prime example because after passing the Representation of People Act of 1867, which extended the right to vote and doubled the size of the previous electorate, it soon ratified the Elementary... The working class began to demand more power to institute change, but they were often excluded as the first act had restricted voting to those who had property worth ten pounds. The act in 1867 lowered this restriction to five pounds, which enfranchised nearly all the working class in city boroughs. Consequently, there was apprehension within the legislative body that the voters would misuse their newfound rights. Specifically, the Conservative party, primarily supported by the middle class, worried it would be displaced by the Liberal party as its support came from the working class. The concern was the working class would blindly follow each other, and therefore, the liberal ideology, rather than make their own decisions. The two parties compromised by working toward an educational reform to promote individual thought. It also allowed for more social mobility, so the working class had more opportunity to transition into the middle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The absence of oxygen some cells and organisms can use glycolysis coupled to fermentation to produce energy to your cells. Cells use enzymes as biological catalysts to increase or accelerate the rate of reactions. Energy, Metabolism, and Cells Photosynthesis envelopes everything we need to sustain life whether directly related or indirectly related. Biology involves a great responsibility for the safety and well being of all inhabitants of the earth. Our daily lives and the comprehension of what it takes to keep the ... Fermentation is generally used in many ways. 2. In the absence of oxygen some cells and organisms can use glycolysis coupled to fermentation to produce energy from the sugar created by photosynthesis. A. A number of organisms in the nonexistence of oxygen from time to time go through a course of action described as fermentation. Fermentation permits these organisms to create energy under anaerobic conditions according to (www.sci.uidaho.edu. 2008). B. In a biological system energy comes into as light or photons. Through cellular methods including photosynthesis and respiration it is converted into chemical energy. Carbohydrates are developed throughout the infusion of carbon dioxide and hydrogen. Subsequently energy is stored in ATP (adenosine triphosphate). 3. Cells use enzymes as biological catalysts to increase or accelerate the rate of reactions, such as those in photosynthesis or glycolysis. This allows reactions to occur under conditions that sustain life. A. Enzymes boost reaction rates by lessening the quality of energy necessary to form a compound of reactants. Enzymes expedite the chemical reaction in living things. Without them, it would take a long time for food to be digested and our bones and muscles would not work as well. • 57. Jim Cullen And The American Dream The American Dream, as defined by Cullen, is starting your goal off with a little and ending with more; it s like a business, you invest in it in order to gain more money. Usually, people will define the American Dream as being able to achieve your goal because everyone is offered opportunities. Cullen does acknowledge that people are born with different opportunities, so he talks about the good life. The good life describes different factors that determine your opportunities. Throughout the other readings, I ve come to find that most authors portray the American Dreamas an idea that has died or caused sadness, but could be revived. Everybody defines and accomplishes their American Dream differently; Jim Cullen, the author of The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Which is not necessarily to say that applied intelligence and effort don t play a role. Hard work may be required, but it is not as difficult to work in a calm area compared to a place where it s hectic and uncomfortable. This is a different category because it shows that looks get more priority than books, but not all the time. This dream guarantees people to have vacations in the beach rather than having to work all the time. It is not as time consuming compared to the first dream. All in all, Cullen describes these two dreams as obvious evidence that they are nowhere near alike, but it falls under the category of, The Dream of the Good Life. Jim Cullen, the author of the American Dream, describes the transition of Puritans wanting to go to heaven to people gambling as a possible necessity for achieving a Good Life. The transition described by Cullen went from people gambling during Sabbath, to taking risks and built up to where people were gambling on a daily basis. The Puritans objected the idea of gambling and thought it was not necessary for them to achieve their good life which was heaven. However, during Sabbath, a day where people did not work because they believed that it was a God of law of God, people had other intentions, Especially because gambling so often took on the Sabbath...people typically ...
