suggesting that chloroplasts and mitochondria represent formerly free living bacteria that were
taken into a cell as an endosymbiont. Molecular evidence suggests that mitochondria developed
from proteobacteria and chloroplasts from cyanobacteria. It is thought that the Prokaryotes may
have entered the host cell as a parasite or source of nutrient for the host, however avoided digestion.
The primitive chloroplast may have provided the host cell with crucial nutrients, and the primitive
mitochondrion may have aided the exploitation of oxygen for the extraction of energy. In return the
host cell offered a protected environment for the Prokaryotes to live in. This was the beginning of a

judgment can be rendered fairly. As the white peopleare not highly valued in this society it is
reflected in the way the governmenttreats them and how Manika describes them. In this film as
Manika attempts to inform the viewers of how white people go about their lives she lacks an
essence of qualities that are critical to gaining an empathetic understanding of other people s

careful observing in regard to the activity of horse racing. She describes the horse races as a religion
to these folks, that they exchange all their earned money for prayer tokens and bow their heads

the head they pray for success, wealth and happiness in the future as if they rely solely on

Flannery O Connor was a southern belle born in Savannah, Georgia in 1925. She was a Catholic
girl living in the Bible belt of the country. She lived in two different worlds (Meyer, 421); the
fictional world that she created for her stories and her personal life. In her stories, she used
exciting characters so that she could live through them and live an interesting life. She uses her
stories to portray totally unanticipated, but totally plausible things. O Connor s stories present
complex experiences that cannot be tidily summarized; it takes the entire story to suggest the
