The Crusades Impact
From 1095 CE to 1291 CE, there was a total of nine Crusades that spanned from Western Europe to
the Middle East. The Crusades were military campaigns fought between the Christians and the
Muslims, and their justification was to obtain control of Jerusalem: the Holy Land. The impact of
the Crusades can still be seen today, as they were an important factor in the modernization of
Western Europes civilization. The Crusadesaffected many parts of the world, including the people
who fought in these battles and the others who were at home. These wars directly affected the role
of the Church in Europe, since the Crusades were fought in the name of Christ and they provided
the wealth and power the church gained as a product of the Crusades. Not only... Show more content

The Christians who fought in the Crusades learned better and newer ways of doing mundane day
to day things from the Muslims, who had more advanced methods of doing what the Europeans
had been doing more simply for centuries. For example, in Jerusalem, Muslim doctors discovered
painkillers, which were used for when the doctors would perform amputations, so the operation
would be relatively painless for the patient. This was more sophisticated than the Europeans way
of amputating, which was to hack off the limb while holding down the patient, with no drugs to
kill the pain. The Muslim way of performing surgery was quickly adopted by the Europeans after
the Crusades. Before the wars, Christians were known for being dirty and relatively smelly. That
changed after the Holy Wars; Muslims wash very often due to religious practices, and the
Christians adopted their methods of washing and became accustomed to using soap to bathe every
day. The crusaders who returned home brought soap for others to utilize. They then were able to
emulate and create their own soap, and they discovered that cleanliness would help stop common
diseases from being spread as quickly and easily throughout the

Muscle Protein Synthesis
As previously mentioned, WPHs are pre digested to a degree, meaning that the resulting amino
acids are more quickly distributed to skeletal muscles. This positively impacts the rate of rate of
muscle protein synthesis after exercise. The way this process works is broken into two main steps
transcription and translation (Editors, 2011). In transcription, DNA is unzipped (opened), and with
the help of the enzyme RNA polymerase, messenger RNA, or mRNA, is created by pairing
complementary nucleotides using the DNA as an instructional template . This step does not require
amino acids, but is necessary to briefly mention in order to give context to the second step.
Translation involves the mRNA binding to ribosomes in the cytoplasm of the musclecell. Here,
transfer RNA, or tRNA, molecules also bind to the ribosome. The order... Show more content on

First of all, WPHs are effective scavengers of molecules with free radicals in the body (Tang et
al, 2012) due to their hydrophobicity. Secondly, reducing power is significant in WPHs, so that
when these free radicals are found, they are eliminated effectively. In cells, oxygen is needed for
many processes, but there are side effects of frequent exposure to the molecule, namely the
formation of free radicals. These highly reactive molecules have an unpaired electron, allowing
them to interact freely with and do damage to lipid molecules, particularly ones with double
bonds. Since cell membranes have a high lipid content, they are at risk without antioxidant
protection. Tang et al (2012) showed that WPHs from peanut peptides effectively scavenge and
reduce hydroxyl radicals (most dangerous) and 2, 2 diphenyl 1 picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals.
The latter of the two is particularly notable, as The model of scavenging stable DPPH radical is a
widely used method to evaluate antioxidant activities in a relatively short time compared with other
methods. (p.

Hercules And April Struggle To Know Their True Identity
It is very important for someone to know their true identity. If you don t know who you are then
how will you apply for a job? How will make friends or find a spouse without knowing who you
really are? All these things that are important in the human life depends on us knowing who we
really are. If not, all the opportunities that rely on us knowing who we are, they will be gone. An
example is like someone saying, Hey what s your favorite color? Then you say, a color, I don t
know. Another example is Hercules, he doesn t know who he is, he keeps searching and
searching, trying to be like others but he really isn t. April wears a mask to cover up her identity, she

First, both Hercules and April struggle to find their true identity in themselves. They just don t
know who they are, so they try to fit in with others. Second, even though April and Hercules do
everything the others do, they still don t fit in, they are a lot more unique than all the other
people. Finally, Hercules and April are both judged or looked at negatively by others. When
April takes off the mask, everyone s body language says, Who is she? or, Uh, she is not like us
so she doesn t fit in. Hercules as a child tried to play with other boys but they always turned him

how they still don t fit in even if they change, and finally, how others look upon

Summary Of Pacific Distance By Joan Didion
In her essay Pacific Distances author Joan Didion writes about the randomness and lack of meaning
in the car culture of southern California. Her implied thesis is that people in Los Angeles spend
their time in transit, leading unreal lives without meaning or a sense of connectedness to anything,
even other people. She conveys her thesis to the reader through expressive writingand unusual word
choices, and she employs description and narration to create a sense of emotional deadness and
random motion.
Didion s primary purpose is expressive. The personal pronoun does not appear until the last few
sentences of her essay, but when it finally does we realize that the narrator has been Didion herself,
driving through Los Angeles on streets devoid of meaning to the driver, in which [c]onventional
information is missing. Although the emotions presented in expressive writing are usually intense,
Didion gives the reader a sense of her emotional deadness; her lack of emotion is itself an emotional
state, and she presents that emotionless quality to the reader in such a way that even the I is
suppressed until the essay s last few sentences.
Secondarily, Didion s purpose is literary. To some extent her language and the way she presents
her thesis are at least as important as what she has to say. Her unusual word choices help the reader
to understand the strangeness of life in Los Angeles: Some people feel a seductive unconnectedness
in the city, while in other people the

New Prophets And Its Impact On The Nation Of Israel,...
Many new prophets came about in books Isaiah through Malachi. The goal for the prophets was
to have Christ like characteristics and tell people the good news. God is the shepherd who
chooses his prophets to change the future. This was a time where the nation of Israel, Judah,
Jerusalem and Nineveh were not obeying God. However, God offered hope to the people by
exiling the nation and offering the people a new opportunity for a personal relationship. The
nations existed to be a disappointment to God because he had clearly informed the people to walk
humbly with him in order to experience the good life.
God had an unconditional love for his people, but he can still get angry when people oppose his
word. He offered forgiveness to the Israelites even when they turned against him to worship a
false god. Also, God did not ignore people who rebelled against him. He knew all the actions of
everyone. God was angry with the people of Nineveh because they had a strong rebellion against
him. There were people in the city who didn t believe in him and he casted a wrath. God is good
to the people who follow him, but he becomes bitter toward people who deliberately deny him as
the Father. The time period of Nineveh was a disappointment to God. There has been judged upon
nations, but forgiveness was offered. This is a reoccurring theme throughout the Old Testament. It
goes to show that God doesn t like when his people turn their backs against him, but he is willing
to forgive them if they

Kamala And Siddhartha Similarities
Govinda is Siddhartha s childhood friend , and his loyal companion. Siddhartha and Govinda devote
their life on a quest for enlightenment and understanding. Govinda benefits from religious
community and doctrine and seeks instruction from individuals who have achieved enlightenment.
He relies on others to help him determine when he is on the right path. Ultimately Govinda attain
enlightenment, showing us that enlightenment has different paths. The similarities between the two
characters demonstrate that determination, persistence, and patience are necessary traits for
achieving a spiritual awakening. The relationship between Govinda and Siddhartha forms a circular

Global Climate And Its Variability
The processes occurring in the upper ocean are important for interpreting the global climate and its
variability. The upper ocean is often referred to as the ocean mixed layer (ML). It is a quasi
homogeneous layer of oceanic tracers regulated by turbulence due to air sea exchanges of heat and
momentum fluxes. The thickness of the ML modulates its heat capacity and controls the evolution
of sea surface temperature (SST), which is important for understanding climatedynamics. Therefore,
the mean state and seasonal cycle of ocean mixed layer depth (MLD) and the relative roles of net
heat flux (NHF), wind stress and freshwater flux on the ML require to be explored over the global
ocean. Insufficient attention has been given to the role of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The annual mean MLD over most open ocean regions (away from sea ice and shallow coastal
regions) follows the heat and wind forcing. The annual mean wind forcing strength appears to be
most strongly related to the annual mean MLD, while the relative seasonal cycle strength of MLD
mostly follows the seasonality in heating. However, there are a few regions in which neither of the
atmospheric forcings seems to match the annual mean or seasonal cycle characteristics of the
MLD; indicating that the relationship is more complex. The analysis, based on the ocean reanalysis
and ACCESS KPP model datasets, suggests that oceanic processes independent of the local
atmospheric forcing contribute to the stratification of the upper ocean and thus the MLD in
significant ways. The relationship between the anomalies of MLD and atmospheric forces tends to
become stronger when the atmospheric forces lead by about one month during the fall and winter.
This is consistent with a larger inertia of the MLD when it is deeper.
The representation of the MLD and its variability related to the local atmospheric forcings in the
CMIP5 models are mostly consistent with the observed. The seasonal variability of MLD is
strongly modulated by the atmospheric heat flux seasonality. This has caused deeper MLDs over a
wider extratropical domain during winter in the multi model mean.

The Journey Of Cultural Practices
Framework Overview
Although referred to as the competing values framework the mainstay of this theory is to recognize
the many dynamics aspects it takes in managerial personnel to effectively operate a financially
sound organization. Although sufficient in describing the four differencing administration styles,
controller, competitor, creator and the clan leader, this framework limits itself by conflicting each
value as independently working against one another instead of encompassing a wraparound
approach as used in Public Health, seen in (appendix A) where more fluid dynamics interplay in
both the internal and external aspects of the agency providing for more client centered, population
focused, community based services through well matched system approaches. Of note, not one of
the four identified approaches has been proven to be more effective than another, however in
totality, much like an interdisciplinary team approach to services, when incorporated equally, each
skill set complements the overall goal of the agency.
Organizational Leadership The Journey of Cultural Practices in End of Life Care initiative is a
program under the umbrella of public health and as such reports the stakeholders formed of by the
Board of Commissioners. The program coordinator is the current hospice social worker who will
instill a less formal style of governance, according to the by laws of the agency. Unlike the

Analysis Of Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening, By...
Robert Frost is a great American poet that mastered the art of eloquently imprinting his readers with
an overarching idea, or theme, through his use of symbolic language, precise picture painting, and
metronome rhyme and meter. Frost addresses many different themes across his poems, but
sometimes has similar methods of displaying his themes; three of the most prominent are the
crossroads of a decision in Stopping by Woodson a Snowy Evening, the battle between desire and
hate in Fire and Ice, and the loss of innocence in Nothing Gold Can Stay.
Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening is all about the internal debates that occur when making a
decision. The poem is designed to unsettle certitude as Guy Rotella, a literary critic, put ... Show

The connection between Earth and a relationship is a little more subtle since he does not
outright say it, but due to fire and ice being connected to emotions that come from the world of a
relationship the reader can assume their connection to the world in the poem. Fire and Ice also
draws on Frost s tendency to unsettle certitude since, as Guy Rotella put it, he concludes with a
point that ends up reopening what he had already closed earlier in the poem (253). Frost once
again never makes a decision in this poem, he just uses the metaphor to debate with himself on
why either desire or hate could be the one to destroy a relationship. Similarly to Fire and Ice,
Robert Frost also uses an extended metaphor to show the theme in Nothing Gold Can Stay. Frost
tells the story of how the most beautiful part of Spring only lasts a short time in couplets of
iambic trimeter, and it is not until line six until the true meaning of this poem is exposed, So
Eden sank to grief (Frost). This is alluding to the Garden of Eden story from the Bible when
mankind was banished from the garden; which also reveals the reasoning for personifying Spring
earlier in the poem by saying gold was Her Hardest hue to hold (Frost, 2). Frost wants the reader to
connect mankind s falling from the

India Closed Economy
CHAPTER 1 INDIA S TRANSITION FROM A CLOSED TO AN OPEN ECONOMY
A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new,
when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. 1.1 These are the
words of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, in his speech marking the
Independence of India on 14 August 1947. These words still hold true today as India moves onto
the global scene and is making its presence felt as an emerging economic power.

fundamental premise was that: ... growth should be accompanied by social justice and this

controlled and were subject in many cases to quantitative restrictions, and in all cases to very
high tariffs, which, at their peak, had reached a maximum level of 350%.9 1.9 Between 1951 and
1993, India s share of world trade plunged from 2.4 to 0.5 percent owing to Nehru s reliance on
central planning as an economic policy.10 This highly regulated, over bureaucratised system
severely inhibited competition, innovation, efficiency and economic growth. Trade policies were
designed to protect local industries from external competition through high subsidies and tariffs.

Session VIII was about the Fruit of the Spirit, Gentleness. The objectives of this session were to
examine ways to be gentle through the evaluation of humankind s action, understand the gentleness
of God s Spirit, and the treatment of others with gentleness. The supporting scriptures came from
the Old and New Testaments. Various exercises were employed to display gentleness using songs,
words, and meditation. The military core values for this session focused on selfless service, respect,

Red Sky At Morning Summary
Red Sky at Morning is a book about a boy named Josh Arnold, who moves from his hometown,
Mobile, Alabama, to Corazon Sagrado, New Mexico. The story is set during World War II which
happens to be the reason for the families move. Josh goes through many things throughout the story
which makes him the man that he is at the end.
The first object I chose was a car. The car represents the families move from Alabama to New
Mexico. The family moves to New Mexico for safety during the war. Mr. Arnold leaves for the
Navy soon after their arrival in Corazon Sagrado. The move and the absence leave Mrs. Arnold
lonely and depressed. On the other hand, Josh grows from the move to Sagrado. He meets new
friends and learns a lot of important lessons.

go get malts together either for celebration or just for fun. They also go on different adventures
with each other and almost do everything together. Josh is lucky to have found such great friends in
New Mexico.
I chose a knife next because of the time when Tarzan stabbed Chango. Chango was a bully to a
lot of people, including Josh, and thought he was a real tough guy. When Tarzan stabs him it is
like a wake up call. He drops his tough guy act and even becomes a friend to Josh. Chango also
becomes a catholic, like his sister, after the stabbing.
Another item I chose was paint and a paint brush. These items represent Josh s new friend
Romeo, who is an artist. Romeo was a friend of Josh s parents and soon becomes a friend and
teacher to Josh. At the end of the story Josh finds out that Romeo even created his father out of a
bolder in his memory.
I chose a tree and cooking pans to represent Amadeo and Excilda. Even though they were servants
for the Arnold s they were also close family friends. Mrs. Arnold might not have been too fond of
them but Josh had a very close relationship with them. They were both teachers to Josh and helped

The Regulation Of Lgbt Orientation
It takes no compromise to give people their rights...it takes no money to respect the individual. It
takes no political deal to give people freedom. It takes no survey to remove repression (Milk). The
regulation of LGBT* discrimination in various environments varies by jurisdiction. Many states
have established rules that prohibit bias in hiring, promotion, job assignment, termination,
compensation and general harassment based on sexual orientation. However, very few of these
protections extend to cover sexual identity. The repercussions of these limited protections surfaced
from the very beginning in the form of discrimination, attacks and abuse of LGBT* citizens. In
fact, over half of US workers in today s labor force work in a state where it is perfectly legal to fire
someone or refuse them employment based on their gender or sexual orientation. Society likes to
pretend as though these violent attacks have lessened through the years, though the truth of the
matter is that, over the last ten years, though hate crimes in general have gone down, the percentage
of hate crimevictims targeted based on sexual orientation or gender is on the rise. Many incredible
activists have made monumental attempts at understanding the nature of these hate crimes and this
discrimination in modern America. However, even the most incredible scholars cannot completely
comprehend the nature of the violence until they experience it for themselves, and Clementine Von

Managing Mobility After a Total Knee Replacement

thrombocytopenia which resulted in the elevation and potential bleeding. The physician had to take

The agenda was quite clear that during their observations the recovery showed needs were
decreased according to age and BMI. They stated older patients were in need of more assistance
and longer stay in the hospital as opposed to younger adults. I found it interesting that they saw
patients with bilateral knees had decreased needs and that unilateral were in need of more
assistance before discharge. Managing pain was their first priority during research and
rehabilitation, followed by instructing care of their own surgical wound. The aim of this study
was to actively reinforce assessment and management after this procedure and giving guidance to
those in health care. According to Su et all (2009), knee replacement is an effective way to find
relief of pain and improve mobility, but most importantly giving the patient education and skills
during early recovery. In comparison, all articles focused on the need of improving mobility after

important to get them ambulating with assistive devices soon after surgery. My patient at Kindred,

The Power Of Women In Kate Chopin s A Respectable Woman
The Power of Women
Before women started fighting for their rights in the mid nineteenth century, women were
powerless and unequal to men. Women have fought to have the rights that they have today, before
the nineteenth century women had no rights. However, this changed when women decided to unify
and fight for their rights. They were deprived of many things; for example, the right to suffrage,
gender pay gap, and access to higher education but these are not all the battles that women wanted
to fight. Women debated that all these rights were necessary in order to achieve equality to men.

were not treated as equals to men. Also in Chopin s A... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Susan B. Anthony was best known for fighting for fighting for voting rights, she had brought her
copy of the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution, which guaranteed the right of citizens to
vote. She had also brought a copy of the New York State Constitution (Pollack 9 10). However,
she ended up being jailed three weeks after she voted, because men interpreted the fourteenth
amendment as only male citizens could vote and women had no right to vote. Susan was ready to
fight no matter how hard the fight would be she was ready to take it on. Women won the right to
vote in 1868 when the fourteenth amendment was ratified; however, it was officially won with the
nineteenth amendment. It states that the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be
denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex (Ginsberg, et al, A27),
this was proposed in 1919 and ratified in 1920.
Women were not only deprived the right to vote they also had a wider pay gap and this was
based gender, this is called the gender pay gap. The gender pay gap is the difference in pay
between men and women. In Ain t I a Woman Truth emphasizes how women deserve to be
treated the same as men. In 1869, many of these women are now performing the same grade of
work at $900 per annum for which men receive $1800. Most of them, too, have families to

Extinction is easily defined: the birth rate fails to keep up with the death rate. However, the

in temperature occurred worldwide. The excessive carbon dioxide would have permitted solar
energy to enter the atmosphere but would have blocked the radiation of most surface heat back into
space, causing the greenhouse effect . rising temperatures could have killed off or reduced the
activity of plankton, disrupting food chains and also disrupting the plankton s normal role in
converting carbon dioxide to oxygen through photosynthesis. It would have taken long for
dinosaurs to become extinct.
Dinosaurs may have also killed themselves. It is possible that they consumed poison from plants.
The emergence of flowering plants could have poisoned them. These plants contained alkaloids.
Smaller animals with lesser appetites could have survived the doses, but perhaps the dinosaur could
not. Most mammals are smart enough to avoid these poison ness plants because of the bitter taste.
The dinosaurs, however, may have not had the sense or the liver. They could not taste the bitterness
or detoxify the ingested substances. This theory is not scientifically significant because there is no
way of telling if the dinosaurs could taste, or how their digestive system worked.
What if it wasn t the dinosaurs that caused their own extinction, but something greater? Species of
animals that have survived for millions of years have to be well adapted to their environment or they

Listening To Aretha s Song R-E-S-E-T

Bridges (Sax)(Baritone), Charles Chalmers (Sax)(Tenor), Gene Chrisman(Drums), Tommy
Cogbill(Bass), Tom Dowd(Engineer), Jimmy Johnson(Guitar), Melvin Lastie (Trumpet,
Cornet), Chips Moman(Guitar), Dewey Oldham(Organ). Track 1 ( Respect ): This is one of my
favorite song in this album and by far one of the most popular! The song starts out with an
uplifting and exciting piano introduction. At 1:50, I think it was quite a brilliant idea to spell R
E S P E C T out for people in case they missed it. Aretha sings with a lot of confidence and
command and her spirit is just as inspirational as the lyrics she sings which also speaks for
freedom, faith, love,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I could feel her singing with such amazing subtlety soulful passion. Aretha s approach is almost
spiritual by comparison, reflecting her gospel roots of her being a pastor s daughter. During the
bridge, I think she sounds like she has entered a state of joyful religious excitement. I also
enjoyed this track and how she also sang with confidence. Track 3 ( I never loved a man the way
): All I could think of this track is Wow! to me this song was how Aretha Franklin we have come
to know as truly introduced herself to the word as The Queen of Soul. The song starts out with a
nicely played piano and drums which was an intro to start singing. In the first couple of lines I
could feel the pain/emotion in her voice (from 0:08 0:24). I also loved when the trumpets came
in at 0:40, this added a bit of a Jazzy flavor to the song. Track 4 ( Do right woman, do right man ):
This song just happens to also be one of my favorites. This is quite possibly to my understanding
the best version of the song, although Gram Parsons had a good composition. The song is a
combination of beautifully recorded piano and bass instruments. Aretha Franklin s vocals is totally
wonderful and full of emotion, sadness, yet joy all at the same time. I liked the chorus with the
background vocals starting at 1:15, it really gives a groovy

A Comparison Of Love In Shakespeare s Eleanor And Park
What is the perfect love story and does it exist? Not in the lives of Romeo and Juliet nor in the
lives of Eleanor and Park. This romance novel and play engage the readers by representing the
most imperfect examples of what love is. In these works, I will be examining the differences and
similarities between Socio economic status, the ideal person and the family influence in both
works, as well as the modern and classical approaches to love. In the beginning of Eleanor and Park
they both read Romeo and Juliet and discover their similarities and differences with these characters.
The economic status in the novel and play differs, when we see that in Eleanor and Park where
Eleanor s home life is extremely difficult. Eleanor Douglas, her mother Sabrina, her abusive and
alcoholic stepfather Richie, and her four younger siblings Ben, Maisie, mouse and half brother
Richie Jr. live in poverty. All the kids share one room. In the beginning of the novel Eleanor has
recently moved back home after Richie had kicked her out for a year. Richie has a strong and
negative influence over the whole family. Sabrina tries to keep their home life peaceful even
though Richie is violent and abusive. Eleanor doesn t feel that she is safe or welcomed in her
own home. On the other hand, Park Sheridan and his parents have a loving relationship and a
comfortable lifestyle. However, his dad, Jamie, wants him to be more masculine. Park feels as
though he is disappointing his dad. The two works differ in

Western Influence On Things Fall Apart
In the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe it is demonstrated how the Ibo culture slowly
deteriorated from their own culture. The Western ideas influenced a different impact on certain
characters, this also included characters like Okonwo and his son Nwoye. Many from the Ibo
culture were confused by the merge of the European people slowly but subtly trying to enforce
and covert their religion upon them. The books ending explained why the book was written in the
first place, which was to break the silence that existed from the unheard side of the colonized
people. The novel explained the impact Nwoye encountered with Western ideas was a clear and

Cataract Research Paper
Cataract is one of the visual problems that we are discussing in this project. They are developing
on a particular tissue from the eye called lens. The lens is located behind the iris and the pupil,
this tissue is fundamental in order to complete the visual process. The lens is a clear part of the eye
that helps to focus light or images on the retina, working like a camera lens. Cataracts produce a
clouding on the lens affecting the vision of the person. Most of them are commonly cause by
aging, however they can be develop on young people as well, but how are cataracts develop?
The lens is made of water and proteins; those proteins are organizing in a precise way that keeps
the lens clear letting lights pass perfectly through the retina. When people age some of those
proteins can move and clump together clouding a part of the lens making it harder for the person to
see with the affected eye. Cataracts are the most common cause of vision loss in people over 40
years and is the leading cause of blindness in the world. In fact, there are more cases of cataracts
worldwide than glaucoma, macular degenerationand diabetic retinopathy combined. Currently,
cataracts affect more than 22 million Americans form 40 years of age or older. In addition, as the
population of the United States ages, more than 30 million cataract cases are expected... Show more

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Newcomers In Norrköping
THE STRUGGLES OF LGBTQ+ NEWCOMERS IN NORRKГ–PING: CAUGHT UP IN
PSEUDO MODERNITY
According to The Swedish Migration Board (Migrationsverket), in 2016, Norrköping was the
biggest receiver of asylum seekers in the county of Östergötland. Statistics and figures in
themselves can be perceived as intimidating and heavy, and viewing newcomers as a single large
group can be scary.
However, people are from all walks of life, no different from you and I. Ignorance only breeds
fear and hate, but curiosity brings understanding and awareness. For that reason and because their
specific experiences hinge on the intersection of being both LGBTQ+ and a newcomer, this
article focuses on queer newcomers in Norrköping. In collaboration with RFSL, Norrköping
Pride and the Swedish Migration Board, several interviews were conducted with both newcomers
and people working with them. Sweden has an international reputation for being progressive and
modern in LGBTQ+ issues, and Swedes are usually quick to pat themselves on the back for their
modern ways. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under the law, minorities, regardless of their sexual orientation/gender identity as well as their
ethnic background, are given substantial protection from discrimination and violence. The contact
with the Swedish Migration Board can become problematic as they demand proof of sexual
identity if the newcomer is also seeking asylum on security aspects linked to them being queer.
Still, LGBTQ+ newcomers usually cannot be fully open with their sexual identities in their
countries of origin as it is often considered a criminal offense. To then expect a newcomer to be
openly queer from first contact is a high demand that many cannot meet primarily due to feelings of
shame. The lack of trust can lead them to apply as non LGBTQ+. Our interviewees testify to
feeling questioned and not fully trusted in the contact with the Migration

Cure of the Streets
The poet Rainer Maria Rilke says that a work of art is good if it has sprung from necessity
(Farley). Hip Hop was born on the poor and dangerous streets of the USA. Minorities such as
African Americans and Hispanics dominated these streets, and they felt the need to address their
long standing common issues. Therefore, a new form of art, hip hop was born, and became the
method of self expression for these minorities. Lyrics have presented what they have been
through. While rap has turned from a tool of self expression to a multi billion dollar industry, it
has continued to constructively affect the social and economic structure of the society. While
serving as a good alternative to the streets, hip hop positively uplifts the cultural barriers within
the society and educates the youth. In order to better understand the necessity and the influence
of hip hop, the history of how and where this music emerged is highly important. In the 1970s,
Hip hop was born in the immensely impoverished, crime ridden, drug infested streets of the
Bronx , which were often called America s worst slum or the epitome of urban failure (Price 4).
Emmett Price III, the writer of Hip Hop Culture, says that the ostracized, marginalized, and
oppressed youth started hip hop as a liberation movement , and they aimed to combat against
issues of racial prejudice, cultural persecution, and social, economic, and political disparities (Price
1). From the 1970s to the 1990s, hip hop had increased

Gestational diabetes (also called gestational diabetes mellitus or GDM) is a kind of diabetes that
can happen during pregnancy.
Seven out of every 100 pregnant women (7 percent) develop gestational diabetes. It s a condition in
which your body has too much sugar (called glucose) in the blood.

Civil Disobedience Rhetorical Analysis Essay
Henry David Thoreau was a philosopher, poet, and essay writer who lived from 1817 1862. His
essay Civil Disobedience was written when the Mexican American war was happening and
slavery was still being allowed. Thoreau made his essay trying to convince the people of that
current United States to rebel against the government when the government is being unfair. His
purpose was to create a community which was aware of the government and fight for others not
just care for themselves. He did this to get people to care for the mexicans and the slaves who
were being mistreated. Throughout the essay Thoreau sounds concerned for the people of his time
who do not care for the mexicans or slaves. To convince his audience that we need revolution
audience he appeals to their logic by using rhetorical strategies, like extended metaphors, rhetorical
questions, and oxymorons. Thoreau tries to convince us that revolutions are necessary for our
government to work properly. In the excerpt from Thoreau s Civil Disobedienceparagraphs 4,5,9 he
uses an extended metaphor to convey how we should think about the government. He depicts the

Colonial Legislatures In America
The colonial legislatures, the First Great Awakening, the term Patriots , and the Preamble to the
U.S Constitution all relate to the historical theme of Ideas, Beliefs, and Culture. To begin with, the
colonial legislatures were a legislative system that consisted of an assembly and a council that
controlled the decision of taxes. The colonial legislatures were developed during the time that Great
Britain was under the policy of salutary neglect, which meant that the colonial legislatures gave the
colonists a sense of control over their business and affairs. This political movement helped shape
the American society because it gave the American society a sense of independence over Great
Britain when they gained control over their own business... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These terms relate to this theme because they relate to how the Americas influenced the wider
world and how the world influenced the Americas. To begin with, the Albany Plan of Union was
the proposal set to place the British North American colonies under a more centralized government,
however, the plan was never carried out. The Albany Plan of Union was the first important proposal
that revealed the colonies as a collective whole under one government. This relates to the place of
the Americas in world context because it was the first stepping stone that led to the government that
governs the United States today. The government has to do with the outer world because it controls
foreign business with other countries. Second, the Proclamation of 1763 was created to alleviate
relations with American Indians after the French and Indian War. The Proclamation of 1763 was
passed by the British government and stated that settlers weren t allowed to pass the Appalachian
Mountains. This led to rebellion amongst the settlers because it required any settlers living West of
the Appalachian mountain to move back East. This authoritative act passed by the British crown

were also an authoritative act passed by the British crown that influenced a reaction within the
Americas. The Intolerable Acts were a set of laws passed that restricted the rights of the colonists

The Need For Data, Collaboration, Trust And Successful...
The Challenge The need for data, collaboration, trust and successful peer training are the most
important aspects of developing the program I am going to design. As a first year Department
Head of the Fine Arts Department within a large public school, I have been assigned the task of
leading this department from a regular grading system to a Standards Based Grading system.
This type of change is what Schlecty (2007) describes as a systematic change. According to
Zepeda (2012), this type of change is the least understood and the most difficult to achieve (pg.
26). This is especially true for educators such as those on my team, whose teaching techniques
have been the same for many years. The implementation of standards based grading uproots
almost every aspect of classroom teaching. Grade scales are different, assessments are greatly
different and the idea of remediation is paramount to SBG. While this conversion may not seem
like a difficult task for a teacher, there are several factors that make it extremely challenging for
myself to convince others to support. For one, all other 7 faculty members in the department
have been teaching at the school for a few years longer than myself. This is why trust is one of
my main key elements on which to focus. Having taught in another part of the state for many
years, I must find a way to prove to them that I am on their team and will do everything in my
power to keep their interests and concern on the top of the list.

This paper explores five different sources that report information about the U.S. s welfare
programs. The sources discuss when welfare first came about as well as the changes that have
occurred over the years. This paper will inform, analyze, and state my opinion on the affect of
welfare in the United States. I will discuss the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity

One of the biggest helps of the government is known as welfare. The welfare I am referring to is

From 1959 to 1975, America has been engaged in her longest and most disappointing war she has

His rational to increase the Vietnam War effort was his own version of the Domino Theory,
which basically the same as the original version, but with more aggression. Yelland summarized
Johnson s motive by this statement. If you let a bully come into your front garden one day, the
next day he ll be up on your porch, and the day after that he ll rape your wife in your own bed.
(Yelland). The military force bombed Vietnam without sympathy simply destroying anyone
considered to be an enemy. Large villages with women and children were bombed and even
temples and churches that were in fire free zones were destroyed in the process. President Johnson

Analysis Of Helft Mir Ihr Schwestern
Helft mir, ihr Schwestern is song number five from Robert Schumann s song cycle Frauenliebe
und leben. The song cycle was set to the text of a poem cycle of the same name by Adelbert von
Chamisso. Each poem in the cycle provides a glimpse into the story of a woman falling in love
with a man, getting engaged and married to him, getting pregnant and having a child, becoming a
widow and finally sharing her life story with her granddaughter. At the time that Schumann wrote
this song cycle, he was going through a legal battle with his future wife s father over the right to
marry her. This poem cycle contains themes of love, devotion, and longing that Schumann could
personally relate with his feelings for Clara Wieck, who would soon become Clara Schumann. In
this essay, I will demonstrate how Frauenliebe und leben is directly reflective of Robert Schumanns
own life experiences. In so doing, I will be analyzing the ways in which Schumann set the music
in a fashion that emphasized the structure and emotional content of the poetry. In order to better
understand the context of Robert Schuman s setting of Helft mir, ihr Schwestern, I will first
provide a general analysis of the song cycle as a whole. As Schumann set music to the various
poems, he shifted the tonality to closely related keys, such as a fourth or fifth away, or shifting
the relative or parallel major and minor keys. These shifts in tonality help emphasis the
emotional development of the main character of the poems. The song cycle begins with a
relatively slow and reflective song in the key of Bb major, where the main subject of the poem
cycle first describes her feelings of intense, blind love for a man. The next song shifts the tonal
center up a fourth to the key of Eb. In this song, the woman raises the man of her affection up on
a pedestal of high praise, while she demeans herself to a lowly maid. Song three, moves the
tonality to the relative minor of the previous song, C minor. This song is about the woman s
disbelief that the man she adored so highly has fallen in love with her, and Schumann reflects that
disbelief by making the music more erratic in tempo. He also emphasizes the disbelief by repeating
the complete last stanza and then the

The Commercialization Of Christmas And Easter
We live in a very materialistic society where not even religion can escape the lure of
commercialism. Although advances in technology have made consumerism more readily available
to people world wide, the root of secularization of the church can be traced back hundreds of years.
Of course the commercialization of Christmasand Easter stands out amongst holidays celebrated by
Christians; other religions also include elaborate festivities and gift giving during their religious
celebrations. In addition to the merchandising during the holidays, there are countless stores and

In recent years, Christmas holiday shopping has begun earlier and earlier, starting even before
the end of October. Stores, street lights, and houses are decorated with brightly colored lights,
animatronics, and inflatable images of Santa, Rudolph, Frosty and the Grinch. Holiday sales
begin on Thanksgiving instead of Black Friday, making it impossible for salespeople to spend
time with family, enjoying food and games while reflecting on all that the family has to be
thankful for. Admittedly, I am not a fan of shopping on Black Friday, but I have friends that say
that getting up early and rushing around stores for special bargains is a fun family tradition;
however, it seems that every year there are media reports of people being injured or fights
breaking out over getting that one all important item. Many people go into debt making credit card
purchases of nonessential items. All that aside, though, the holiday season causes many people to
become more charitable, providing food to the homeless, visiting lonely elders in nursing homes
and providing clothing and gifts to children in need; it would be wonderful if people kept that
giving spirit all year long.
Christmas music has evolved quite a bit over the years also; Grandma Got Run Over by a

Persuasive Speech About Singlish
II. Introduction
George Carlin, a Grammy winning American stand up comedian, actor, author, and philosopher,
once said, Meow means woof in cat. This means, any language, has a purpose and an impact on the
people or things around us. With the rise of many new and different languages like Esperanto and
Singlish, many people have mixed opinions about these languages. In the portfolio, I will be
tacking the whole issue on Singlish, whether it should be allowed or not, since it is related to our
society and because of the rising use of Singlish in this generation.

When using Singlish in school, I recommend that students and teachers exercise control while using
Singlish. They need to know when is the right time and the right place to use Singlish. Also, they
cannot speak Singlish all the time. They need to know the difference between acceptable/ standard
English and Singlish. Just like how they know the difference between Chinese and English. When
greeting someone, for instance, one must use Standard English or it will seen rude and such habits
are negative in the working world when they grow up.
When we live in a multicultural nation, a colloquial language like Singlish is unavoidable. We can
only teach what should be used. I recommend that talks and activities should be carried out drawing
the line between Singlish and Standard English. I do recognize that these programmes would not
ban Singlish, but banning Singlish is not wanted but in fact only needed to be known. Once again,
we only need everyone to know the time to use Singlish.

The Executive Summary should ideally be no more than three to four pages. Evaluation Purpose
and Evaluation Questions This should set out the overarching purpose of the evaluation, and how
the findings are expected to be used to inform decisions. This section also describes the Evaluation
Questions (which should be limited to just a few key questions). It can also identify key audiences
for the evaluation. Project Background Enough information should be provided to give sufficient
context. However in the Executive Summary this section can receive less emphasis than it might in
the overall report so that more attention can be given to the evaluation purpose, design, limitations,
and findings. In the main report it should describe the problem being addressed by the project, and
the project logic for why it will lead to better outcomes. This could include a logical framework for
the project if one exists, and the development hypothesis, or causal logic, of the project or program
of which the project is a part. Evaluation questions, design, methods and limitations This section
describes the overall design, specific data collection and analysis methods linked to the evaluation
questions, and limitations of the data, methods, or other issues that affected the findings. Findings

E Commerce Engaging With Physical Stores
And there are more examples of e commerce engaging with physical stores. Such as, a few months
ago, Amazon opened the first physical store in the US. At the same time, Google has opened its
Google shop, online furniture retailer Made.com has been opening showrooms to display their
products. This has proved the online web and the physical stores are actually beneficial to each
other.
Methodology
This research paper will involve the use of qualitative approach as the main research methodology.
This is a common case study method, which provides a clear vision on related implication of the
research topic to researcher (Kondracki Wellman, 2002). Besides, the data in this method depends
on human experience and this will be more persuasive and powerful than only data gathered via
quantitative research. The reason to apply qualitative case study tool in this study due to its
flexibility of use and also its ability, which allows the researcher to express their ideas and thoughts
in the within context of the research (Maxwell. 2005).
The study involves both primary and secondary research in order to have a clear vision on the
research question. Secondary data will be collected from Tesco Inc. such as the sales, the number
of visiting customers in different period. And the primary data will be conducted in two ways, on
site visit and online questionnaire. The methodology being used in this study has also bring up a
lot of challenges. First, as the paper is studying on a

Winter Song Poetic Devices
The Winter Song
When this work was assigned, I immediately chose the winter song Jingle Bell Rock. In my
opinion, this song sounds like a typical puertorican song. It is happier, with a lot of movement. I
also like it because of all the poetic devices that the song has. I will be showing you some of these
poetic devices this song has.
The first poetic device that I found in the first line Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock (1).
Every time they say this line it means how much music there is in Christmas. Another poetic
device is Jingle bells ring (20). It means how the bells sound. In the analysis, I found how all the
music in christmas is related to the bells.
Also another poetic device is Snowing and blowing (3). They use

What made various sororities and fraternities so popular was they were involved with the

The Nature And The Realization Of Conversion Essay
These two major pieces, the nature and the realization of conversion are reflected in what we
believe, our theology. So Luther further reminds us Conversion changes man so that he can accept
grace. (Tappert, 1959:537.83) But not just any old kind of grace, but the grace of God! Luther put
forth a very Lutheran theological understanding of conversion, in which we are saved by grace
through faith, which is a gift to us (humankind) from God. But God does all the acting; we are just
merely beneficiaries of God s grace and mercy.
For the conversion of our corrupt will, which is nothing else than a resuscitation of it from
spiritual death, is only and solely the work of God (just as also the resuscitation in the
resurrection of the body must be ascribed to God alone), as has been fully set forth above and
proved by manifest testimonies of Holy Scripture. (Tappert, 1959:537:87)
Tappert goes on to confirm,
how God in conversion changes stubborn and unwilling into willing men through the drawing of
the Holy Ghost, and that after such conversion, in the daily exercise of repentance, the regenerate
will of man is not idle, but also cooperates in all the works of the Holy Ghost, which He does
through us, has already been sufficiently explained above. Tappert, 1959:537.88)
So also
Again, when Luther says that man behaves in a purely passive way in his conversation (that is, that
man does not do anything toward it and that man only suffers that which God, works in

Stravinsky Rhythm
In this performance, the rhythm is apparent and a defining feature of the piece. Sometimes the
piece becomes somewhat repetitive with ostinato patterns present a lot of the time. This piece is
played and composed in such a way that it draws the listener into a story. The rhythm plays a big
part in this. On the first page of the composition, Stravinsky changes the meter eight times in nine
measures which grabs the attention of the listener. Though the rhythms in the rite of spring are
highly irregular, they are still pulsed. This caused innovations in musical notation in the score to
make the piece playable. Sometimes sounding chaotic, Stravinsky expanded the use of polyrhythm.
Creating a hectic and unpleasant sound, nothing like this was done before. The piece s enormous
harmonies move very slowly indeed. This slow harmonies contradict the pie s sense of energy
creating a very dissonant and disturbing atmosphere. In 1913 this would have completely shocked
the audience and contributed to the events that took place on the premier. Although the piece is
aggressive and bold in certain areas it cannot be generically labelled as such. The introductions to
both parts set a more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the night of the 29th of May 1913, the most famous scandal in the history of arts took place.
A recently built, new theatre in Paris had the privilege of hosting the premier night of Stravinsky
s Rite of Spring. On that night, events took place that no one saw coming. A reaction was
expected, but not of the magnitude that took place. Having had a successful previous year with
his piece Petrushka great things were expected from Stravinsky and he was hoping for the new
ballet to be an even bigger than anything he d written before. Writing to Nicholas Roerich (Who
was behind the ballet s vision of pagan Russia), Stravinsky said From all indications I can see that
this piece is bound to emerge in a way that rarely

Stewardship

GE510 Intro to Graduate Studies

Assignment: Stewardship
Instructor: Dr. Alan Cellamare
Date: 02/06/2014
Stewardship is defined as the position and duties of a steward, a person who acts as the surrogate
of another of others, especially by managing property, financial affairs, an estate etc. Responsible
for overseeing and protection of something considered worth caring or and preserving
(www.webster.com). The biblehas many examples of stewardship and how it relates to society
today. God gave generosity as part of the law. As his people, we have special roles that were
assigned to dominate creation. In this paper I will critique the articles The Oxford ... Show more

Every person has the freedom to develop their God given potential. Developing good
stewardship in the business management practices is to establish good work ethics to
accomplish God s work in the world. Ethical business management practices starts with
maintaining a trustful relationship in the organization. The organization must develop an
organizational culture to use ethical stewardship to sustain in this completive market. Making
good decisions shows your obligation to do what is acceptable. In the book of Luke 10:25 37
speaks about the Good Samaritan and explain how to love one s neighbor (care for their needs).
We are to love our neighbors to fulfill the commandment to show mercy to those who are in
need. In the book of Amos displays a time of prosperity and wealth in the kingdom of Israel, but
the decision was made among the people to live in sin and wickedness. God raised up Amos to
bring warning to the Israelites to change their ways. In scripture God is clear concerning
stewardship and how Christians should apply it to our daily life.
In conclusion stewardship shapes your daily life that identifies your spiritual gifts. God expects
everyone to use their gifts to enhance the creation, society, environment and blessing others. The
talent God gives us is to benefit the community. Obedience to Stewardship opens up the blessings
of God to flow in your life.

GPU is still a moderately new idea. GPUs were at first utilized for rendering illustrations just; as
innovation propelled, the vast number of centres in GPUs with respect to CPUs was abused by
creating computational abilities for GPUs so they can handle many parallel surges of information
at the same time, regardless of what that information might be. While GPUs can have hundreds or
even a large number of stream processors, they every run slower than a CPU centre and have less
components (regardless of the possibility that they are Turing finished and can be customized to
run any program a CPU can run). Highlights missing from GPUs incorporate hinders and virtual

Deviance Regulation Theory Analysis
Deviance regulation theory seeks to explain why people choose to deviate from behavioural
norms in order to create definitive identities for themselves (Blanton 2003:115). The theory
states that people want to choose how they are viewed by people, by deciding in which way they
are different from others (Blanton 2003:115). Deviance regulation theorists believe that
differences in behaviour is what gives people their individuality (Blanton 2003:115). However,
people have the opportunity to choose specific ways in which way they would like to deviate
from these behavioural norms. Deviance regulation theorists believe that people decide to deviate
in ways that are positive and favourable as opposed to the ways that are viewed as negative (Blanton

The three types of commitment are said to be the cause of why people make deviant actions (Ulmer
2000:317). Whether people choose to behave counternormatively depends on how they interpret the
situation they are in (Ulmer 2000:317). Structural commitment has to do with the external factors,
which shape the actions of a person depending on the environment and the people involved (Ulmer
2000:318). Personal commitment has to do with internal factors, whether a person wants to follow
through with a certain action (Ulmer 2000:318). Moral commitment also involves internal factors;
however, these factors are not based on internal desire they are based on whether an action is
believed to be right or wrong (Ulmer 2000:318). Therefore, the threefold commitment theory states
that people choose to make deviant acts based on a combination of these three factors. I believe
deviance regulation theory can be improved using the threefold commitment theory. One of the
main problems with the deviance regulation theory is that it focuses on one aspect of deviance, thus
making it less generalizable. Deviance regulation theory can be compared to the personal
commitment aspect of the threefold commitment theory as it only focuses on internal factors. Such
as one s desire to commit a deviant act based on how it will positively impact them. Deviance
regulation theory focuses on the desire to establish an identity through committing deviant acts. I
believe deviance regulation theory only focuses on internal factors that influence deviant behaviour,
which is only one aspect of deviance. Whereas the threefold commitment theory focuses on both
internal and external influences of deviance, making the theory more generalizable to more people
and contexts. Another problem with the deviance regulation theory is that it views deviant
behaviour as a choice based on one s

  • 2. The Crusades Impact From 1095 CE to 1291 CE, there was a total of nine Crusades that spanned from Western Europe to the Middle East. The Crusades were military campaigns fought between the Christians and the Muslims, and their justification was to obtain control of Jerusalem: the Holy Land. The impact of the Crusades can still be seen today, as they were an important factor in the modernization of Western Europes civilization. The Crusadesaffected many parts of the world, including the people who fought in these battles and the others who were at home. These wars directly affected the role of the Church in Europe, since the Crusades were fought in the name of Christ and they provided the wealth and power the church gained as a product of the Crusades. Not only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Christians who fought in the Crusades learned better and newer ways of doing mundane day to day things from the Muslims, who had more advanced methods of doing what the Europeans had been doing more simply for centuries. For example, in Jerusalem, Muslim doctors discovered painkillers, which were used for when the doctors would perform amputations, so the operation would be relatively painless for the patient. This was more sophisticated than the Europeans way of amputating, which was to hack off the limb while holding down the patient, with no drugs to kill the pain. The Muslim way of performing surgery was quickly adopted by the Europeans after the Crusades. Before the wars, Christians were known for being dirty and relatively smelly. That changed after the Holy Wars; Muslims wash very often due to religious practices, and the Christians adopted their methods of washing and became accustomed to using soap to bathe every day. The crusaders who returned home brought soap for others to utilize. They then were able to emulate and create their own soap, and they discovered that cleanliness would help stop common diseases from being spread as quickly and easily throughout the ... • 3. Muscle Protein Synthesis As previously mentioned, WPHs are pre digested to a degree, meaning that the resulting amino acids are more quickly distributed to skeletal muscles. This positively impacts the rate of rate of muscle protein synthesis after exercise. The way this process works is broken into two main steps transcription and translation (Editors, 2011). In transcription, DNA is unzipped (opened), and with the help of the enzyme RNA polymerase, messenger RNA, or mRNA, is created by pairing complementary nucleotides using the DNA as an instructional template . This step does not require amino acids, but is necessary to briefly mention in order to give context to the second step. Translation involves the mRNA binding to ribosomes in the cytoplasm of the musclecell. Here, transfer RNA, or tRNA, molecules also bind to the ribosome. The order... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, WPHs are effective scavengers of molecules with free radicals in the body (Tang et al, 2012) due to their hydrophobicity. Secondly, reducing power is significant in WPHs, so that when these free radicals are found, they are eliminated effectively. In cells, oxygen is needed for many processes, but there are side effects of frequent exposure to the molecule, namely the formation of free radicals. These highly reactive molecules have an unpaired electron, allowing them to interact freely with and do damage to lipid molecules, particularly ones with double bonds. Since cell membranes have a high lipid content, they are at risk without antioxidant protection. Tang et al (2012) showed that WPHs from peanut peptides effectively scavenge and reduce hydroxyl radicals (most dangerous) and 2, 2 diphenyl 1 picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals. The latter of the two is particularly notable, as The model of scavenging stable DPPH radical is a widely used method to evaluate antioxidant activities in a relatively short time compared with other methods. • 6. Hercules And April Struggle To Know Their True Identity It is very important for someone to know their true identity. If you don t know who you are then how will you apply for a job? How will make friends or find a spouse without knowing who you really are? All these things that are important in the human life depends on us knowing who we really are. If not, all the opportunities that rely on us knowing who we are, they will be gone. An example is like someone saying, Hey what s your favorite color? Then you say, a color, I don t know. Another example is Hercules, he doesn t know who he is, he keeps searching and searching, trying to be like others but he really isn t. April wears a mask to cover up her identity, she is different than all the other kids, so she tries to fit in with a mask but she still ends up different.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Second, even though April and Hercules do everything the others do, they still don t fit in, they are a lot more unique than all the other people. Finally, Hercules and April are both judged or looked at negatively by others. When April takes off the mask, everyone s body language says, Who is she? or, Uh, she is not like us so she doesn t fit in. Hercules as a child tried to play with other boys but they always turned him down. • 7. Summary Of Pacific Distance By Joan Didion In her essay Pacific Distances author Joan Didion writes about the randomness and lack of meaning in the car culture of southern California. Her implied thesis is that people in Los Angeles spend their time in transit, leading unreal lives without meaning or a sense of connectedness to anything, even other people. She conveys her thesis to the reader through expressive writingand unusual word choices, and she employs description and narration to create a sense of emotional deadness and random motion. Didion s primary purpose is expressive. The personal pronoun does not appear until the last few sentences of her essay, but when it finally does we realize that the narrator has been Didion herself, driving through Los Angeles on streets devoid of meaning to the driver, in which [c]onventional information is missing. Although the emotions presented in expressive writing are usually intense, Didion gives the reader a sense of her emotional deadness; her lack of emotion is itself an emotional state, and she presents that emotionless quality to the reader in such a way that even the I is suppressed until the essay s last few sentences. Secondarily, Didion s purpose is literary. To some extent her language and the way she presents her thesis are at least as important as what she has to say. Her unusual word choices help the reader to understand the strangeness of life in Los Angeles: Some people feel a seductive unconnectedness in the city, while in other people the ... • 8. New Prophets And Its Impact On The Nation Of Israel,... Many new prophets came about in books Isaiah through Malachi. The goal for the prophets was to have Christ like characteristics and tell people the good news. God is the shepherd who chooses his prophets to change the future. This was a time where the nation of Israel, Judah, Jerusalem and Nineveh were not obeying God. However, God offered hope to the people by exiling the nation and offering the people a new opportunity for a personal relationship. The nations existed to be a disappointment to God because he had clearly informed the people to walk humbly with him in order to experience the good life. God had an unconditional love for his people, but he can still get angry when people oppose his word. He offered forgiveness to the Israelites even when they turned against him to worship a false god. Also, God did not ignore people who rebelled against him. He knew all the actions of everyone. God was angry with the people of Nineveh because they had a strong rebellion against him. There were people in the city who didn t believe in him and he casted a wrath. God is good to the people who follow him, but he becomes bitter toward people who deliberately deny him as the Father. The time period of Nineveh was a disappointment to God. There has been judged upon nations, but forgiveness was offered. This is a reoccurring theme throughout the Old Testament. It goes to show that God doesn t like when his people turn their backs against him, but he is willing to forgive them if they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Global Climate And Its Variability The processes occurring in the upper ocean are important for interpreting the global climate and its variability. The upper ocean is often referred to as the ocean mixed layer (ML). It is a quasi homogeneous layer of oceanic tracers regulated by turbulence due to air sea exchanges of heat and momentum fluxes. The thickness of the ML modulates its heat capacity and controls the evolution of sea surface temperature (SST), which is important for understanding climatedynamics. Therefore, the mean state and seasonal cycle of ocean mixed layer depth (MLD) and the relative roles of net heat flux (NHF), wind stress and freshwater flux on the ML require to be explored over the global ocean. Insufficient attention has been given to the role of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The annual mean MLD over most open ocean regions (away from sea ice and shallow coastal regions) follows the heat and wind forcing. The annual mean wind forcing strength appears to be most strongly related to the annual mean MLD, while the relative seasonal cycle strength of MLD mostly follows the seasonality in heating. However, there are a few regions in which neither of the atmospheric forcings seems to match the annual mean or seasonal cycle characteristics of the MLD; indicating that the relationship is more complex. The analysis, based on the ocean reanalysis and ACCESS KPP model datasets, suggests that oceanic processes independent of the local atmospheric forcing contribute to the stratification of the upper ocean and thus the MLD in significant ways. The relationship between the anomalies of MLD and atmospheric forces tends to become stronger when the atmospheric forces lead by about one month during the fall and winter. This is consistent with a larger inertia of the MLD when it is deeper. The representation of the MLD and its variability related to the local atmospheric forcings in the CMIP5 models are mostly consistent with the observed. The seasonal variability of MLD is strongly modulated by the atmospheric heat flux seasonality. This has caused deeper MLDs over a wider extratropical domain during winter in the multi model mean. Further, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Journey Of Cultural Practices Framework Overview Although referred to as the competing values framework the mainstay of this theory is to recognize the many dynamics aspects it takes in managerial personnel to effectively operate a financially sound organization. Although sufficient in describing the four differencing administration styles, controller, competitor, creator and the clan leader, this framework limits itself by conflicting each value as independently working against one another instead of encompassing a wraparound approach as used in Public Health, seen in (appendix A) where more fluid dynamics interplay in both the internal and external aspects of the agency providing for more client centered, population focused, community based services through well matched system approaches. Of note, not one of the four identified approaches has been proven to be more effective than another, however in totality, much like an interdisciplinary team approach to services, when incorporated equally, each skill set complements the overall goal of the agency. Organizational Leadership The Journey of Cultural Practices in End of Life Care initiative is a program under the umbrella of public health and as such reports the stakeholders formed of by the Board of Commissioners. The program coordinator is the current hospice social worker who will instill a less formal style of governance, according to the by laws of the agency. • 13. Analysis Of Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening, By... Robert Frost is a great American poet that mastered the art of eloquently imprinting his readers with an overarching idea, or theme, through his use of symbolic language, precise picture painting, and metronome rhyme and meter. Frost addresses many different themes across his poems, but sometimes has similar methods of displaying his themes; three of the most prominent are the crossroads of a decision in Stopping by Woodson a Snowy Evening, the battle between desire and hate in Fire and Ice, and the loss of innocence in Nothing Gold Can Stay. Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening is all about the internal debates that occur when making a decision. The poem is designed to unsettle certitude as Guy Rotella, a literary critic, put ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The connection between Earth and a relationship is a little more subtle since he does not outright say it, but due to fire and ice being connected to emotions that come from the world of a relationship the reader can assume their connection to the world in the poem. Fire and Ice also draws on Frost s tendency to unsettle certitude since, as Guy Rotella put it, he concludes with a point that ends up reopening what he had already closed earlier in the poem (253). Frost once again never makes a decision in this poem, he just uses the metaphor to debate with himself on why either desire or hate could be the one to destroy a relationship. Similarly to Fire and Ice, Robert Frost also uses an extended metaphor to show the theme in Nothing Gold Can Stay. Frost tells the story of how the most beautiful part of Spring only lasts a short time in couplets of iambic trimeter, and it is not until line six until the true meaning of this poem is exposed, So Eden sank to grief (Frost). This is alluding to the Garden of Eden story from the Bible when mankind was banished from the garden; which also reveals the reasoning for personifying Spring earlier in the poem by saying gold was Her Hardest hue to hold (Frost, 2). Frost wants the reader to connect mankind s falling from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These words still hold true today as India moves onto the global scene and is making its presence felt as an emerging economic power. It takes no survey to remove repression (Milk). The regulation of LGBT* discrimination in various environments varies by jurisdiction. Many states have established rules that prohibit bias in hiring, promotion, job assignment, termination, compensation and general harassment based on sexual orientation. However, very few of these protections extend to cover sexual identity. The repercussions of these limited protections surfaced from the very beginning in the form of discrimination, attacks and abuse of LGBT* citizens. In fact, over half of US workers in today s labor force work in a state where it is perfectly legal to fire someone or refuse them employment based on their gender or sexual orientation. Society likes to pretend as though these violent attacks have lessened through the years, though the truth of the matter is that, over the last ten years, though hate crimes in general have gone down, the percentage of hate crimevictims targeted based on sexual orientation or gender is on the rise. I found it interesting that they saw patients with bilateral knees had decreased needs and that unilateral were in need of more assistance before discharge. The Power Of Women In Kate Chopin s A Respectable Woman The Power of Women Before women started fighting for their rights in the mid nineteenth century, women were powerless and unequal to men. Women have fought to have the rights that they have today, before the nineteenth century women had no rights. However, this changed when women decided to unify and fight for their rights. They were deprived of many things; for example, the right to suffrage, gender pay gap, and access to higher education but these are not all the battles that women wanted to fight. Women debated that all these rights were necessary in order to achieve equality to men. However, she ended up being jailed three weeks after she voted, because men interpreted the fourteenth amendment as only male citizens could vote and women had no right to vote. Susan was ready to fight no matter how hard the fight would be she was ready to take it on. Women won the right to vote in 1868 when the fourteenth amendment was ratified; however, it was officially won with the nineteenth amendment. It states that the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex (Ginsberg, et al, A27), this was proposed in 1919 and ratified in 1920. Women were not only deprived the right to vote they also had a wider pay gap and this was based gender, this is called the gender pay gap. How did these dominated and gigantic creatures really die? Was it a slow extinction through natural causes, or did it happen suddenly? These questions give rise to many different beliefs on how the dinosaurs disappeared over sixty five million years ago. Something happened sixty five million years ago, at the end of the Cretaceous period that was so devastating that it altered the course of life on earth. The emergence of flowering plants could have poisoned them. These plants contained alkaloids. Smaller animals with lesser appetites could have survived the doses, but perhaps the dinosaur could not. Most mammals are smart enough to avoid these poison ness plants because of the bitter taste. The dinosaurs, however, may have not had the sense or the liver. They could not taste the bitterness or detoxify the ingested substances. This theory is not scientifically significant because there is no way of telling if the dinosaurs could taste, or how their digestive system worked. At 1:50, I think it was quite a brilliant idea to spell R E S P E C T out for people in case they missed it. Track 3 ( I never loved a man the way ): All I could think of this track is Wow! to me this song was how Aretha Franklin we have come to know as truly introduced herself to the word as The Queen of Soul. The lens is located behind the iris and the pupil, this tissue is fundamental in order to complete the visual process. The lens is a clear part of the eye that helps to focus light or images on the retina, working like a camera lens. Cataracts produce a clouding on the lens affecting the vision of the person. The lens is made of water and proteins; those proteins are organizing in a precise way that keeps the lens clear letting lights pass perfectly through the retina. • 27. Cure of the Streets The poet Rainer Maria Rilke says that a work of art is good if it has sprung from necessity (Farley). Hip Hop was born on the poor and dangerous streets of the USA. Minorities such as African Americans and Hispanics dominated these streets, and they felt the need to address their long standing common issues. Therefore, a new form of art, hip hop was born, and became the method of self expression for these minorities. Lyrics have presented what they have been through. While rap has turned from a tool of self expression to a multi billion dollar industry, it has continued to constructively affect the social and economic structure of the society. While serving as a good alternative to the streets, hip hop positively uplifts the cultural barriers within the society and educates the youth. In order to better understand the necessity and the influence of hip hop, the history of how and where this music emerged is highly important. In the 1970s, Hip hop was born in the immensely impoverished, crime ridden, drug infested streets of the Bronx , which were often called America s worst slum or the epitome of urban failure (Price 4). This type of change is what Schlecty (2007) describes as a systematic change. According to Zepeda (2012), this type of change is the least understood and the most difficult to achieve (pg. 26). This is especially true for educators such as those on my team, whose teaching techniques have been the same for many years. The implementation of standards based grading uproots almost every aspect of classroom teaching. Grade scales are different, assessments are greatly different and the idea of remediation is paramount to SBG. • 37. Analysis Of Helft Mir Ihr Schwestern Helft mir, ihr Schwestern is song number five from Robert Schumann s song cycle Frauenliebe und leben. The song cycle was set to the text of a poem cycle of the same name by Adelbert von Chamisso. Each poem in the cycle provides a glimpse into the story of a woman falling in love with a man, getting engaged and married to him, getting pregnant and having a child, becoming a widow and finally sharing her life story with her granddaughter. At the time that Schumann wrote this song cycle, he was going through a legal battle with his future wife s father over the right to marry her. This poem cycle contains themes of love, devotion, and longing that Schumann could personally relate with his feelings for Clara Wieck, who would soon become Clara Schumann. In this essay, I will demonstrate how Frauenliebe und leben is directly reflective of Robert Schumanns own life experiences. In so doing, I will be analyzing the ways in which Schumann set the music in a fashion that emphasized the structure and emotional content of the poetry. In order to better understand the context of Robert Schuman s setting of Helft mir, ihr Schwestern, I will first provide a general analysis of the song cycle as a whole. As Schumann set music to the various poems, he shifted the tonality to closely related keys, such as a fourth or fifth away, or shifting the relative or parallel major and minor keys. These shifts in tonality help emphasis the emotional development of the main character of the poems. The song cycle begins with a relatively slow and reflective song in the key of Bb major, where the main subject of the poem cycle first describes her feelings of intense, blind love for a man. The next song shifts the tonal center up a fourth to the key of Eb. In this song, the woman raises the man of her affection up on a pedestal of high praise, while she demeans herself to a lowly maid. Song three, moves the tonality to the relative minor of the previous song, C minor. This song is about the woman s disbelief that the man she adored so highly has fallen in love with her, and Schumann reflects that disbelief by making the music more erratic in tempo. He also emphasizes the disbelief by repeating the complete last stanza and then the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Admittedly, I am not a fan of shopping on Black Friday, but I have friends that say that getting up early and rushing around stores for special bargains is a fun family tradition; however, it seems that every year there are media reports of people being injured or fights breaking out over getting that one all important item. Many people go into debt making credit card purchases of nonessential items. All that aside, though, the holiday season causes many people to become more charitable, providing food to the homeless, visiting lonely elders in nursing homes and providing clothing and gifts to children in need; it would be wonderful if people kept that giving spirit all year long. Christmas music has evolved quite a bit over the years also; Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer and I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas are heard more frequently than Silent Night or Away in a Manger. Many churches, mine included, hold Christmas pageants which include a mix of music and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Persuasive Speech About Singlish II. Introduction George Carlin, a Grammy winning American stand up comedian, actor, author, and philosopher, once said, Meow means woof in cat. This means, any language, has a purpose and an impact on the people or things around us. With the rise of many new and different languages like Esperanto and Singlish, many people have mixed opinions about these languages. In the portfolio, I will be tacking the whole issue on Singlish, whether it should be allowed or not, since it is related to our society and because of the rising use of Singlish in this generation. I was inspired to write and research on this topic as my school had an English week where we were taught more about English and the languages around us. One of them was Singlish. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is represented in the Acronym Educating the public When using Singlish in school, I recommend that students and teachers exercise control while using Singlish. They need to know when is the right time and the right place to use Singlish. Also, they cannot speak Singlish all the time. They need to know the difference between acceptable/ standard English and Singlish. Just like how they know the difference between Chinese and English. When greeting someone, for instance, one must use Standard English or it will seen rude and such habits are negative in the working world when they grow up. When we live in a multicultural nation, a colloquial language like Singlish is unavoidable. We can only teach what should be used. I recommend that talks and activities should be carried out drawing the line between Singlish and Standard English. I do recognize that these programmes would not ban Singlish, but banning Singlish is not wanted but in fact only needed to be known. Once again, we only need everyone to know the time to use Singlish. 2. Perspective of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Achievement Growth in Milwaukee Charter Schools Executive Summary The Executive Summary should stand alone as a summary of the key sections of the report, and should summarize the content of the full report without adding new information. The Executive Summary should ideally be no more than three to four pages. Evaluation Purpose and Evaluation Questions This should set out the overarching purpose of the evaluation, and how the findings are expected to be used to inform decisions. This section also describes the Evaluation Questions (which should be limited to just a few key questions). It can also identify key audiences for the evaluation. Project Background Enough information should be provided to give sufficient context. However in the Executive Summary this section can receive less emphasis than it might in the overall report so that more attention can be given to the evaluation purpose, design, limitations, and findings. In the main report it should describe the problem being addressed by the project, and the project logic for why it will lead to better outcomes. This could include a logical framework for the project if one exists, and the development hypothesis, or causal logic, of the project or program of which the project is a part. Evaluation questions, design, methods and limitations This section describes the overall design, specific data collection and analysis methods linked to the evaluation questions, and limitations of the data, methods, or other issues that affected the findings. • 41. E Commerce Engaging With Physical Stores And there are more examples of e commerce engaging with physical stores. Such as, a few months ago, Amazon opened the first physical store in the US. At the same time, Google has opened its Google shop, online furniture retailer Made.com has been opening showrooms to display their products. This has proved the online web and the physical stores are actually beneficial to each other. Methodology This research paper will involve the use of qualitative approach as the main research methodology. This is a common case study method, which provides a clear vision on related implication of the research topic to researcher (Kondracki Wellman, 2002). Besides, the data in this method depends on human experience and this will be more persuasive and powerful than only data gathered via quantitative research. The reason to apply qualitative case study tool in this study due to its flexibility of use and also its ability, which allows the researcher to express their ideas and thoughts in the within context of the research (Maxwell. 2005). The study involves both primary and secondary research in order to have a clear vision on the research question. Secondary data will be collected from Tesco Inc. such as the sales, the number of visiting customers in different period. And the primary data will be conducted in two ways, on site visit and online questionnaire. The methodology being used in this study has also bring up a lot of challenges. • 42. Winter Song Poetic Devices The Winter Song When this work was assigned, I immediately chose the winter song Jingle Bell Rock. In my opinion, this song sounds like a typical puertorican song. It is happier, with a lot of movement. I also like it because of all the poetic devices that the song has. I will be showing you some of these poetic devices this song has. The first poetic device that I found in the first line Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock (1). Every time they say this line it means how much music there is in Christmas. Another poetic device is Jingle bells ring (20). It means how the bells sound. In the analysis, I found how all the music in christmas is related to the bells. Also another poetic device is Snowing and blowing (3). They use ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. The Nature And The Realization Of Conversion Essay These two major pieces, the nature and the realization of conversion are reflected in what we believe, our theology. So Luther further reminds us Conversion changes man so that he can accept grace. (Tappert, 1959:537.83) But not just any old kind of grace, but the grace of God! Luther put forth a very Lutheran theological understanding of conversion, in which we are saved by grace through faith, which is a gift to us (humankind) from God. But God does all the acting; we are just merely beneficiaries of God s grace and mercy. For the conversion of our corrupt will, which is nothing else than a resuscitation of it from spiritual death, is only and solely the work of God (just as also the resuscitation in the resurrection of the body must be ascribed to God alone), as has been fully set forth above and proved by manifest testimonies of Holy Scripture. (Tappert, 1959:537:87) Tappert goes on to confirm, how God in conversion changes stubborn and unwilling into willing men through the drawing of the Holy Ghost, and that after such conversion, in the daily exercise of repentance, the regenerate will of man is not idle, but also cooperates in all the works of the Holy Ghost, which He does through us, has already been sufficiently explained above. Tappert, 1959:537.88) So also Again, when Luther says that man behaves in a purely passive way in his conversation (that is, that man does not do anything toward it and that man only suffers that which God, works in ... • 45. Stravinsky Rhythm In this performance, the rhythm is apparent and a defining feature of the piece. Sometimes the piece becomes somewhat repetitive with ostinato patterns present a lot of the time. This piece is played and composed in such a way that it draws the listener into a story. The rhythm plays a big part in this. On the first page of the composition, Stravinsky changes the meter eight times in nine measures which grabs the attention of the listener. Though the rhythms in the rite of spring are highly irregular, they are still pulsed. This caused innovations in musical notation in the score to make the piece playable. Sometimes sounding chaotic, Stravinsky expanded the use of polyrhythm. Creating a hectic and unpleasant sound, nothing like this was done before. The piece s enormous harmonies move very slowly indeed. This slow harmonies contradict the pie s sense of energy creating a very dissonant and disturbing atmosphere. In 1913 this would have completely shocked the audience and contributed to the events that took place on the premier. Although the piece is aggressive and bold in certain areas it cannot be generically labelled as such. The introductions to both parts set a more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A recently built, new theatre in Paris had the privilege of hosting the premier night of Stravinsky s Rite of Spring. On that night, events took place that no one saw coming. A reaction was expected, but not of the magnitude that took place. Having had a successful previous year with his piece Petrushka great things were expected from Stravinsky and he was hoping for the new ballet to be an even bigger than anything he d written before. Writing to Nicholas Roerich (Who was behind the ballet s vision of pagan Russia), Stravinsky said From all indications I can see that this piece is bound to emerge in a way that rarely ... Developing good stewardship in the business management practices is to establish good work ethics to accomplish God s work in the world. Ethical business management practices starts with maintaining a trustful relationship in the organization. The organization must develop an organizational culture to use ethical stewardship to sustain in this completive market. Making good decisions shows your obligation to do what is acceptable. In the book of Luke 10:25 37 speaks about the Good Samaritan and explain how to love one s neighbor (care for their needs). We are to love our neighbors to fulfill the commandment to show mercy to those who are in need. In the book of Amos displays a time of prosperity and wealth in the kingdom of Israel, but the decision was made among the people to live in sin and wickedness. God raised up Amos to bring warning to the Israelites to change their ways. In scripture God is clear concerning stewardship and how Christians should apply it to our daily life. • 48. Deviance Regulation Theory Analysis Deviance regulation theory seeks to explain why people choose to deviate from behavioural norms in order to create definitive identities for themselves (Blanton 2003:115). The theory states that people want to choose how they are viewed by people, by deciding in which way they are different from others (Blanton 2003:115). Deviance regulation theorists believe that differences in behaviour is what gives people their individuality (Blanton 2003:115). However, people have the opportunity to choose specific ways in which way they would like to deviate from these behavioural norms. Deviance regulation theorists believe that people decide to deviate in ways that are positive and favourable as opposed to the ways that are viewed as negative (Blanton ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The three types of commitment are said to be the cause of why people make deviant actions (Ulmer 2000:317). Whether people choose to behave counternormatively depends on how they interpret the situation they are in (Ulmer 2000:317). Structural commitment has to do with the external factors, which shape the actions of a person depending on the environment and the people involved (Ulmer 2000:318). Personal commitment has to do with internal factors, whether a person wants to follow through with a certain action (Ulmer 2000:318). Moral commitment also involves internal factors; however, these factors are not based on internal desire they are based on whether an action is believed to be right or wrong (Ulmer 2000:318). Therefore, the threefold commitment theory states that people choose to make deviant acts based on a combination of these three factors. I believe deviance regulation theory can be improved using the threefold commitment theory. One of the main problems with the deviance regulation theory is that it focuses on one aspect of deviance, thus making it less generalizable. Deviance regulation theory can be compared to the personal commitment aspect of the threefold commitment theory as it only focuses on internal factors. Such as one s desire to commit a deviant act based on how it will positively impact them. Deviance regulation theory focuses on the desire to establish an identity through committing deviant acts. I believe deviance regulation theory only focuses on internal factors that influence deviant behaviour, which is only one aspect of deviance. Whereas the threefold commitment theory focuses on both internal and external influences of deviance, making the theory more generalizable to more people and contexts. Another problem with the deviance regulation theory is that it views deviant behaviour as a choice based on one s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
