1. Essay On High School Experience
Embarking on the task of writing an essay about one's high school experience is both a daunting
and reflective endeavor. The challenge lies not only in recounting a multitude of memories but
also in capturing the essence of a formative period that encompasses academic, social, and
personal growth. It requires a delicate balance between nostalgia and critical analysis, as one
navigates through the labyrinth of experiences that define those pivotal years.
Attempting to encapsulate the highs and lows, triumphs and tribulations, friendships forged and
lessons learned, into a coherent narrative demands introspection and an acute awareness of the
impact that high school life has had on one's character and future trajectory. Each paragraph
becomes a tightrope walk between the need for introspective depth and the risk of sentimental
indulgence. Striking the right chord necessitates a keen understanding of one's own journey,
acknowledging not just the highlights but also the challenges that contributed to growth.
Moreover, the difficulty intensifies as the writer grapples with the universality of the high school
experience. The challenge is to present a narrative that resonates with a broad audience while
maintaining the uniqueness of individual stories. It calls for a delicate dance between personal
anecdotes and broader reflections on the shared struggles and joys that characterize the high
school journey.
The process is akin to assembling a mosaic, with each piece representing a distinct facet of the
high school experience. Crafting a seamless narrative from this mosaic requires an adept hand at
storytelling, ensuring that the essay flows smoothly and coherently while encapsulating the
myriad dimensions of the high school journey.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of one's high school experience is a complex and
intricate task. It demands a thoughtful reflection on personal growth, a delicate balance between
the specific and the universal, and a skillful weaving of memories into a cohesive narrative. Yet,
in the end, it is a rewarding endeavor that allows the writer to not only share their unique story
but also connect with others who have navigated the tumultuous terrain of high school life.

2. Haunting Of Hill House Essay
The Haunting of Hill House is a novel containing many characters who possess
childlike qualities. Eleanor, the main character, had her childhood stolen and
therefore acts the most childlike. Eleanor s job was to care for her ill mother, which
resulted in her missing out on vital socialization along with her chance to enjoy her
young life. The references to the characters and their childish behavior begins fairly
early in the novel. There have been suspicions of a house being haunted, named Hill
House, so a Doctor named Dr. Montague decides to look for participants to occupy
the house for the summer. When the characters arrive at Hill House in order to
participate in the experiment, Eleanor and another important character named
Theodora immediately connect. The two girls... Show more content on

Eleanor does not object to Theo s care, showing that she is not an independent
adult. Normally, you would not see an adult woman washing another woman s
face. The fact that this is normal behavior to the girls shows that the mental age of
Eleanor may not correspond to her actual age, the effect of not being taught some
basic life skills and lack of companionship from a young age. The reason for the
often reference of adults to children in this novel seems to be to better demonstrate
the dependency and immaturity of the characters, especially Eleanor, due to their
past. It is very clear that Eleanor did not have an excellent childhood as it was spent
looking after her mother. Eleanor was a lonely girl, desperate for friendship which
made her act very childish when she finally had the opportunity to make friends.
The emphasis on the childlike behavior of Eleanor also proves how new she is to
the real world, she acts like a child because she is experiencing these new things such
as friendships and attraction for the first time, much like a child

Freshwater on Mars Finding proof of potential life on other planets seems way out
of reach but is has been attempted for the last couple years. In fact, new discoveries
made by NASAs Curiosity Rover and its team was brought out very recently. In the
news there was an article, NASA Curiosity Rover Discovers Evidence of Freshwater
MarsLake , about the roverthat may have found evidence of an ancient lake. Through
these discoveries scientists of NASAhave made a hypothesis that Mars was in fact
Earth like, not just the desert that we know it as today. They believe that Mars had
many swimming holes that were part of a wet environment that could potentially
have supported living life. These life forms could live on Mars because of the
environment that was once similar to earth s. One of the major craters that they
were looking at which supported this idea was called the Gale Crater. This specific
crater is known to have rocks that were around 4.2 billion years old, and said to be
from a running water lake. This idea has just been developed from a long lasting
idea that Mars did have some water but its quality was like battery acid. Many
times before, NASA has sent rovers to Mars to search for life. They have not only
sent Curiosity but also Spirit and Opportunity. The one that found all of this
information, Curiosity, had the job of sampling rocks by drilling holes in them. This
rover took off from earth in the summer of 2012 and gathered the major information

4. Loveliness And Love In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 18
In Shakespeare s Sonnet 18, the relationship in lines 1 8 between the young man s
loveliness and temperateness when compared to a summer s day can be connected
through the times of the Elizabethan. When Shakespeare wrote his sonnet it was very
common to write with the theme of love and often weather used to create moods. In
this Sonnet, Shakespeare happens to be talking about a young man of great beauty
and promising expression and affection. In this sonnet, he first uses the word
loveliness when comparing to a summer s day. Summer is a romantic month when
the sun is up and lovers can come outside and enjoy the fresh air, yet this young man
is even more lovely than this season. Shakespeare follows this loveliness description
mentioning why summer isn t that lovely with the rough winds do shake the darling
buds of May, and Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, So when compared to
the summer day, Shakespeare put the man he is describing above it, being even more
lovely than the summer season. Temperateness , his next adjective refers to weather
and the great balance within the young man. Unlike summer, he isn t switching up
his weather or oneself with breezes, hot suns, and clouds.
In the Sonnet, Shakespeare says, And every fair from fair sometimes declines, which
means that beauty doesn t last a person forever. He says that everything loses beauty
and is not eternal like a short summer. He then goes on to say this young man s thy
eternal summer

6. Gender Roles Of Women s Literature
The way in which gender roles are portrayed in children s literature significantly
contributes to the development of our youth s understanding of their own gender s
role and how they are perceived by society. It is important for children to
understand gender roles because gender roles are an essential cog in the perpetual
machine that develops our society, but these cogs have been replaced with newer,
more up to date cogs over recent years, so to speak. As society has changed, so has
the typical role that each gender plays in it, namely women. As feministic
movements have gained more and more traction in recent years, there s been a shift
in the roles and expectations placed on women. Today, more and more women are
going to college,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This holds true for young men as well, whereas if a boy is constantly reading about
being strong, adventurous, independent, and tough, he will assume that is what is
expected of him as well. Traditional roles in young adult or children s literature
would be roles that often times could be perceived as gender stereotypes, and these
stereotypes frequently reflect what is thought of as the norm . A stereotype is
defined by Merriam Webster as something conforming to a fixed or general pattern;
especially: a standardized mental picture that is held in common by members of a
group and that represents an oversimplified opinion, prejudiced attitude, or
uncritical judgment (Stereotype Definition of Stereotype by Merriam Webster).
However, stereotypes aren t always a bad thing. In some sense, stereotypes are
able to provide a sense of order and predictability, and in the purest sense of the
word, they simply are just reflections of societal patterns that have been observed
for decades. In literature, traditional gender roles tend to conform to what is the
prototypical perception of each gender, reflecting and following the guidelines set by
society. However, as time goes on, these perceptions can become inaccurate, whether
it s from social progression or a change in traditional ideals. This is why consistently
exposing children and young adults to stereotypical roles in literature can result in the

Although blockbuster exhibitions inspired by popular culture are moving away from
the traditional role of the museum as an educational institution, the blockbuster
model can still stay true to the museological goal of education. The First Emperor:
China s Entombed Warriors at the Art Gallery of New South Wales is an excellent
example of how the original concept of the blockbuster exhibition as a spectacular
display of the wealth of an ancient civilisation, first seen in The Treasures of
Tutankhamun exhibition at the British Museum, is still being used by museums today.
It is possible for institutions to produce exhibitions that reflect popular taste in ways
that continue to create opportunities for learning be it formal or informal. As argued
by O Reilly and Lawrenson, exhibitions like the First Emperor present scholarship in
an accessible format in a way that people who don t usually visit museums will

Benefits of Airsoft The game of Airsoft is much like paintball. Both can be played

paintball have many similarities, but the key difference between the two are the kind
of ammunition. The player s honesty and integrity are greatly tested in Airsoft,
because it doesn t leave a colorful mess after the player is hit. Many Airsoft guns
are replicas made by real rifle manufacture companies, so Airsoft guns look like the
real deal compared to paintball. Also the plastic pellet ammunition for Airsoft is
much cheaper and less messy than paintball ammunition. Some people will freeze
paintball ammunition to cause their opponent pain, which in turn, can be dangerous.
Some Airsoft replicas have the same weight and function of a real firearm,

11. Language and Syntax in Coriolanus
Take Home Essay Language and Syntax in Coriolanus
As William Shakespeare continued to write and create plays, he became more
experiential with his language and rhetoric within them. Coriolanus, one of
Shakespeare s final tragedies, exhibits a distinct syntax when compared with Titus
Andronicus and Othello. Titus Andronicus was one of the first of Shakespeare s plays
and his first tragedy. The play is characterized by classic verses, mainly in the iambic
pentameter form. Shakespeare did not have the experience and artistic freedom he
had when writing Coriolanus; he was emerging in London s theatre scene and played
it safe by using a more traditional syntax structure. The language Shakespeare used in
Othello was much more ornate and extravagant; like Titus Andronicus it is marked by
many uninterrupted speeches and soliloquies. Coriolanus is much more modern like
in the syntax than William Shakespeare s preceding tragedy plays.
The choppiness of the speeches in Coriolanus is very unlike the formal, end stopped,
verbose soliloquies and speeches in both Othello and Titus Andronicus. Both
characteristics accomplish different effects in the plays the great, long speeches in
the two tragedies prior to Coriolanus allow the audience or reader to hear the internal
thoughts of the characters. In Act II, Scene IV of Titus Andronicus, the audience has
an opportunity to collect Lavinia s emotion, after her rapists cut her tongue, by

Bitter Nepenthe Friedrich Nietzsche once said, blessed are the forgetful, for they

to our misery. We indulge in the idea that ignorance is bliss and that what we don t
remember won t hurt us. But do we really get the better of our mistakes if we forget
about them? Do forgetting and ignorance make us better people? Does oblivion
make us happier? Is it worth going out of our way to make sure we forget? These are
the kinds of questions Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mindaddresses. Even though
it is one of those movies which grapples with immense philosophical concepts, it
does so effortlessly and without seeming elitist or pretentious. In this romance
science fiction comedy hybrid Charlie Kaufman s amazing script as well as Michel
Gondrys whimsical direction captivate us. As is the case with every Kaufman film,
the movie discusses the consequences of tampering with human nature in the light of
human fallibility and memories. However, Eternal Sunshine has a remarkable
essence in that the burning issue at its heart is whether your life is merely a
predestined route to an inevitable destination. While the film has traces of science
fiction conventions, Gondry s signature downplaying of special effects and producing
the captivating frames directly during shooting (through removing or adding objects
to the set between shots) ensures that the viewer does not get too overwhelmed by the

Americans have been using coal for hearing and cooking. Nevertheless, it was not

Plasma is a distinct phase of matter, separate from the traditional solids, liquids, and
gases. It is a collection of charged particles that respond strongly and collectively to
electromagnetic fields, taking the form of gas like clouds or ion beams. Since the
particles in plasma are electrically charged (generally by being stripped of electrons),
it is frequently described as an ionized gas. [1] so that the electrons and ions are
separately free. When does this ionization occur? When the temperature is hot enough.
17. Compare And Contrast English Creation Story
Every human culture has its own story about the creation of the world. There are
countless cultures in the world, therefore compare all of them seems impossible.
But today I d like to contrast two widespread creation stories; the christian and the
iroquois one. First, I d like to list the similarities of the stories. In both of the stories
there is a powerful tree, and because of harming the tree the main characters had to
leave their homes. Eve and the skywoman wanted something from the tree they
weren t allowed to have but they did it anyway. In other words, our existence is
based on a sin. Would our world be like this if the skywoman hadn t got these
cravings? What would it look like if Eve didn t take the fruit? Nobody can answer
these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The biggest one is probably the role of God. The Iroquois don t mention a God at
any time, the skyworld was always there. Christians otherwise believe that God
created the whole world. He is an all powerful God that can punish everybody. He
punished Adam and Eve for eating the forbidden fruit and he punished all the
people, expect Noah and his family, because they were naughty. In order to that
you have to respect your God and stick to the ten commandments. In these bids are
again articles about respecting god and his work. The skywoman on the other
hand fell from the skyworld, nobody knows exactly why. There was no God who
threw her out. Therefore, you have to respect your God as a christian, otherwise he
could punish you. As an Iroquoi you only have to respect nature, if you did
something wrong you have to learn from your mistakes. Also important to mention
is the role of the animals. While the animals in the Iroquois story help the woman,
the birds even saved her life, they don t play an important role at Adam and Eves. If
they would, it wouldn t be a good one since the snake convinced Eve to eat the fruit.
While the gigantic turtle let the woman live on her back and gave her a home, Noah
had to save all animals. That makes clear that the human beings stand above other
beings in the christian

Is Mark Twain Racist?
Alveda King once stated, Racism springs from the lie that certain human beings are
less than fully human. Mark Twain supports this belief when he composed his novel,
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. In the aftermath of the American Civil War, the
institution of slavery and American Southern culture was not well understood
internationally. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn conveys Southern culture and
the social attitudes toward slavery through the plot of a young white runaway boy
named Huckleberry Finn helping a runaway slave named Jim escape to free territory
by traveling down the Mississippi River on a raft. Ever since the novel s publication,
debate amongst critics has ensued over whether Mark Twain displays his own racist
tendencies in his literary work. Twain s use of his Huckleberry Finn and Jim in the
plot along with use of social satire prove that he is not racist.
Twain fashions Jim as an admirable character who readers can relate to, which is a
clear indication that Twain did not conform to racist standards of his time.
Throughout the novel, Jim displays high moral character and gratitude toward
Huckleberry through speech and actions. He sees Huck as de on y white gentleman
dat ever kep his promise (Twain 74) to him. He credits Huck for providing him with
freedom. Also, Jim gives such a heartfelt, emotional speech to Huck about how he

controversy that emitted over the Vogue cover was that Ashley s arm is on the

22. Women s Role In Japanese History
Throughout the early history of Japan, the place and roles of women have
inconsistencies due to the several religious influences of the time period. During the
early parts of Japan s history, views of women have gone through many progressions
and regressions. With the integration of Shinto and Buddhism, the female identity
was turned into a contradiction. The significant roles of Japanese women in a deep
matriarchal society shifted to a reluctant acceptance of confinement, as history
progresses.
In the early stages of Japan s history, women played an integral part in Shinto
religion. Beginning in the JЕЌmon period, the importance of women was quickly
highlighted through the founding of female clay fertility figurines. These clay
figurines could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning with the Nara period, female monks were included in the temple system
and were given increased roles in the priestly functions similar to those of their male
peers (Ambros 55). Japanese women were able to participate in Buddhist traditions in
many ways. Women were able to become nuns and even significant female monarchs
played a role in spreading Buddhism throughout Japan. The inclusion of women is
also seen in several important Buddhist texts, such as the Lotus Sutra, which
assured women of their potential for Buddhahood despite recognizing the physical
limitations of their body (Ambros 50). However, during the later Heian period, the
positive views of women in religion began to decline significantly because of anti
feminine Buddhist doctrines. The decline of women in religion is connected with
the Five Obstructions, which shows the need for female to male transformation in
order to reach nirvana (Ambros 55), and Three Obediences, which depicts the
pollution associated with female reproduction (Ambros 55), in Buddhism. An
example of these two doctrines includes the story of The Dragon King s Daughter.
The story of the Dragon King s Daughter is located in the Lotus Sutra, a key text in
Mahayana Buddhism. The story of the dragon king s daughter is significant as the
story reveals that women can only reach Buddhahood through the transformation into
male bodies (Ueki 279). This story undermines the general inclusiveness of
Buddhism, which was preached during the Nara period. Also, later in the Heian
period, the marital rules deeply added to the exclusion of women in Japanese society.
For example, The Tale of Genji, a romanticized Heian story, glorified forcible sexual
violation, meaning rape (Ambros 57) and consensual sexual violation, meaning
adultery (Ambros 57). Ultimately, this story normalizes and justifies polygyny and
male dominance in marriage. The
23. Summary Of Happy Like God By Simon Critchley
What makes one person feel happy, may not make another person feel the same
kind of feeling. All people around the world look at and feel happiness in different
ways than others. Happiness is something that is extremely personal and very
much varies from person to person. For example, someone who likes thrills and
adventures, such as an extrovert, would reach more energy and happiness more
than an introvert would. Whereas an introvert, would find more happiness and
energy when doing more laid back activities, such as reading a book by a warm
window, baking some warm, fresh cookies, or working out indoors on a treadmill
or elliptical, instead of going out for a run in a park or having a night on a town, in
a loud night club. Everyone knows, at least one, activity in their day to day life that
they enjoy or find happiness doing.
In Simon Critchley s passage called Happy Like God, Critchley explains how he
read a passage that he thought was extraordinary and was good enough to write an
essay on. The passage was from Rousseau s final book, Reveries of a Solitary
Walker. The passage described the experience of someone floating on a rowboat on
Lake of Bienne, next to the writer s native town, in his native country. Critchley
explains how he thinks this is the closest description of happiness he can imagine.
Ultimately, this would make people assume that Critchley finds most of his happiness
from relaxing activities than crazy, loud and overwhelming ones.
Critchley further goes on, expressing his thoughts on happiness by saying,
Happiness is not quantitative or measurable and it is not the object of any science,
old or new. It cannot be gleaned from empirical surveys or programmed into
individuals through a combination of behavioral therapy and anti depressants. If it
consists in anything, then I think that happiness is this feeling of existence, this
sentiment of momentary self sufficiency that is bound up with the experience of
time (Critchley 560). What he means by this, is that people learn to be happy by
maturity, time and experiences. In the passage, maybe Rousseau likes lying on a
boat in the water because perhaps he had a house near a great body of water and
would hear the sounds of the waves crashing onto

Owen explores battlefield experience through the gas attacks and mass slaughter
that occurred in the World War 1. In Dulce et Decorum Est the soldier dies horribly
because he doesn t get his gas mask on in time. Owen uses similes to describe the
drowning and onomatopoeia to convey the sound. As under a green sea, I saw him
drowning , Owen uses the simile to compare the soldier to a man burning and
drowning to show the panic and awkward movement of a soldier in the green gas.
Onomatopoeia creates sounds that are terrible and memorable through the words
guttering, choking and drowning as the soldier is unable to breathe. The combination
of similes and onomatopoeia creates a horrible picture of the battlefield experience
through the panic,

They stingily agreed to integrate. The main theme of the book was racial tension.
The white folks treated the black folks like they were dirt. Even older white folks
treated the younger black children like dirt. I do not understand how any adult
could hit a child, especially because of their color. One instance that really
bothered me was when a white man almost raped Melba because she was black. It
was in 1954, immediately after Brown vs. the Board of Education decision had
came down. After that she said she was going to read the newspaper because she
wanted to know when white men got angry. And sometimes she had to spend her
own nickel for it. Another theme throughout the book could be determination. The
nine children were determined to carry out integration. They did not give up.
Some older black folks in the neighborhood faulted the nine children for the actual
attempt of integration. They claimed that it made it harder than it already was to
be black and living in Little Rock. For example, Melba s neighbor Mrs. Floyd said
to her after the first day at Central, Now You ve had your lesson. You don t have to

26. Organizing Insurgency by Paul Staniland Essay
Organizing Insurgency by Paul Staniland, introduces the question, Do resources like
diamonds, drugs, and state sponsors turn insurgent groups into thuggish people or do
they help build a more disciplined organization? The reason this question is asked is
because in some cases it suggests that resource wealth encourages the degeneration of
armed groups into greed and criminality and other evidence shows that external
sponsorship and criminal activity can help leaders build organizations in the face of
state repression (p.142). This question is being presented because with different
insurgent groups like the Jammu KashmirLiberation Front (JKLF) and the Hizbul

Within the article Staniland states The Talibans ability to create and maintain both
central and local institutions was facilitated by its access to an overlapping social
base of Islamists linked to one another through camps and schools of western
Pakistan while remaining embedded in local communities (p.171). Within this
passage, it explains that because of the basis of the Islamist religion, the insurgent
group was able to spread throughout Pakistan making the Taliban stronger. Similarly
to the Taliban, in having a strong basis, are the rebels of Darfur. Before the Darfur
genocide occurred, the conflict originally began as an insurgency group against the
government. Rebel groups drew from main African tribes of Darfur because they
were being oppressed by governmental policies and were looking for a change. The
goal of theses rebels was to assert the social, economic and political rights of all the
people of Darfur; this goal was likely to resonate with the majority of the population,
making the insurgency stronger. Just like the Taliban, the rebels in Darfur had a goal
in mind that represented a basis that resonated with the majority of the population
making them stronger and explaining why they were such a threat to the government.
Subsequently, the basis of the insurgency also has something to do with the effects

The surrounding areas such as the river itself and the surrounding fertile volcanic
soil were great appeals for the settlers since their main income and productions were
olives and grapes. The first settlers didn t know that where they settled had been site
for ancient volcanic eruptions, so they assumed that now the mountain was safe.
Ancient greek history tells the story of Hercules, a brave and strong semi god who
fought the giants in that landscape. On the morning of 24th of August a tremendous
bang signalled that the magma that had been building over the last thousand years
had finally burst through the crater of Vesuvius. Fire and smoke bellowed from the
volcano. At this point, it may have seemed that the mountain was doing nothing
more than offering a harmless pyrotechnic display but at midday an even bigger
explosion blew off the entire cone of Vesuvius and a massive mushroom cloud of
pumice particles rose 27 miles (43 Km) into the sky. The power of the explosion has
been calculated as 100,000 times greater than the nuclear bomb which devastated
Hiroshima in 1945 CE. The ash that started to rain down on Pompeii was light in
weight but the density was such that within minutes everything was covered in
centimetres of it. People tried to flee the town or sought shelter where they could and
those without shelter tried desperately to keep themselves above the shifting layers of

28. Running a Dairy Industry
A) Primary Production To achieve a well run dairy that is efficient and profitable
there are many factors and resources that contribute. Planning and operation
management are tools in which farmers use to accomplish the objectives (Brand,
Noordhuizen and Schukken, 1996, p.7). There is a lot more involved in managing a
dairy farm other than the milking process, farmers have many roles to carry out to
ensure a successful operation for example: financial management, land management,
maintenance, health care, crop production, reproduction and herd replacement.
Financial management and recording (including bookkeeping), help farmers to
keep track of cash flow, payable and receivable. Aspects include borrowing and
investing money, buying feed, fertiliser and temporary water, income from milk
sales and payment for external services such as consultants and agronomists (On the
Farm Dairy Australia, 2011). Land management includes pasture growth, sprinkler
irrigation systems, fixing fences and fertilising paddocks. Farmers are more aware
these days about environmental impacts caused by agricultural practices and
implement ways to prevent degradation such as planting trees and shrubs to
increase river bank stability to reduce soil erosion and fencing off river banks so the
soil and plants will not be spoilt by a herd trampling on them. Settling ponds for
water runoff from dairies are set up to prevent the contaminated water entering the
rivers, dams and streams (On the Farm
29. Merrick s Theoretical Analysis
To strength his initial claim, he goes onto show that the baseball does not cause
the actions of any of the atoms arranged to form the ball. This is a rejection of
downward causation and an advocation for bottom up metaphysics, according to
which, the final and complete causal stories will involve only the entities over
which physics quantifies (pg.60) . A baseball is not an entity over which physics
quantities, its atoms are; a such, it is clear that the baseball does not exercise
downward causation upon their atoms. Nor is a baseball an intermediary in a causal
chain, nor is a baseball a partial cause, alongside its atoms, of the windows shattering.
From this, he argues that it is clear that his first premise is true, that is, the baseball...

. The important portion to note is that the objector believes that the ball is
somehow responsible alongside its atoms for the shattering of the window.
Merrick would argue, in his conception of eliminativism, that there is actually no
good reason to believe in baseball s, rendering the objection useless. He argues that
the only reason for believing in baseballs is simply that we can just feel, or
otherwise sense them. In his conception, just seeing a baseball is not a reason to
believe that it exists, and if we have no good reason to believe it exists, then we
should not believe in them ( pg. 73). What Merrick is trying to suggest here is that a
philosophical argument is necessary to justify belief in baseballs and that those who
trying to object to him often argue based upon what we can sense or feel rather than
using empirical

1) During my introduction speech, I was able to find out both my strengths and
shortcomings, in regards to public speaking. My strengths during the intro speech
were in keeping eye contact and a natural ability to hold the attention of the
audience. My shortcomings, however, were much more pervasive, ranging from
bad timing to using filler words. Most noticeably, was my lack of timing, since the
speech I gave lasted roughly 8 and a half minutes. The other noticeable crutch in my
speech, was the use of a filler phrase, that I repeated over and over again, which was
I found it interesting. I kept using this phrase as a crutch because I was afraid that

I felt that removing filler words or phrases would be the hardest of goals to

have a hard time completely removing filler words and phrases from their

minimize, the use of filler words and phrases when delivering a public speech. 3)
The habits that I witnessed in other speakers, that were not a problem for me were;
lack of eye contact, bad body language, nervousness and running short on time. The
two biggest problems that I noticed from my classmates speeches, were that the
majority of them ran short on their speeches and most of them also did not keep
great eye contact while they were delivering their speeches. These two issues
which most of my classmates faced, apparently was not an issue for me because I
went quite a bit over on time and the according to the positive feedback which
Professor Jaffe, gave me after completing my speech, was that I did a good job
engaging the room, by purposely making eye contact with people. I, also, did not
have bad body language like some of my classmates, who showed their hands in
their pockets, played with their beards or hair or stared at the ground or towards the
back of the room. As for nervousness, it would be impossible for me to say that I

31. Inherit The Wind, By Charles Darwin
Every living thing on this planet has evolved from the same original specie. Having
this information, could it not be concluded that all living things are, to some degree,
related? Yes. To further explain, evolution is a theory that states that organisms have
diversified or in other words, have changed into a more complex living thing. In the
book Inherit The Wind, the townsfolk of the play disagree heavily with the theory of
evolution. Common ancestry is the theory that states that all living things share a
common ancestor or common descendent, which then ties into evolution. Speciation,
both allopatric and parapatric, show evidence for common ancestry. Speciation is
when new species arise due to an evolutionary process. There are multiple and
observable accounts that are used to support the theory of common ancestry. Charles
Darwins book, The Descent of Man And Selection in Relation to Sex, goes into
specifics with these accounts with placental mammals. Placental mammals are
mammals that nourish their embryos using the mother s blood supply. Common
Ancestry in placental mammals provides sufficient scientific evidence, such as the
similarities in bone structures and genetic coding between animals, to support the
theory of evolution.
One of the biggest arguments against the theory of evolution and the theory of
common ancestry is that they are theories. A scientific theory is an explanation for
something in the natural world supported by facts and has successfully gone

35. The Importance Of Growth Mindset In Education
In today s education, educators encourage students to endorse a growth mindset for
their learning. A growth mindset is when someone believes that their intelligence can
be developed through hard work and dedication. A fixed mindset is when students
believe that they can not develop intelligence rather they are smart or not. In the
United States educationsystem, the US is struggling to keep pace with other countries
student academic achievements. In the article, Leveraging Mindsets to Promote
Academic Achievement: Policy recommendations , the authors state, Academic
mindsets are powerful when implemented correctly: they can left grades and
motivation, particularly among struggling students, and they can reduce racial,
gender, and social class achievement gaps. Growth mindsets are praised in the
education communities because it s reflects high results of studies that show that
student raise their grades and intelligence through persevering through hard work.
Students who adopt a growth mindset, will further develop their intelligence and
achieve academic goals
Many people believe praising students for their intelligence will boost their
confidence and motivation to learn but praising students does the complete opposite.
When students are praised about their intelligence, it gives them pride for a short
amount of time and stops students from continuing to push themselves to learn more.

traditional values of the island against the new, brash values of the West. Off the
shores of Uta Jima, the author describes a world slowly succumbing to Western
encroachment. The author depicts Shinji as the embodiment of Japanese valuespre
World War II. Shinji is described as living an average islander life. He supports his
family by fishing, something that men on the island have done for generations. The
author illustrates the ocean s importance to the island many times in the novel. Shinji
believes the ocean only brings the good and right things that the island needs

38. Reaction Paper About Puppetry
I.Introduction
Puppetry is an arts genre in which the objects created are made in such ways to
resemble the real life form and character of things. But what defines a puppet?
A puppet play can be as simple as a girl who picks up her favourite figurines and
arranged them around her table pretending to have an afternoon tea party. Any
inanimate object that is characterized and put in a scenario, could be categorized as a
puppet.
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, a puppet is a doll that is moved by
putting your hand inside it or by pulling strings or wires that are attached to it .
Based on this explanation, we can see that a puppet is different from other figurines
because they are made for control and movement.

traditional puppetry since the arrival of home television. And a lot of puppet theatre
companies disappeared as their opportunities decreased. As a result, some puppet

music and lighting. However, Ruizendaal also stated that he expects more companies

However, in Alyosha s case, his ability to practice his free will is stifled by his faith

recurring batch prior to posting. The analysis information created for transactions in
the Analytical Inquiry windows can be displayed. The process of validating
transactions with analysis information is also explained. These are the following
commands controlled by the account receivables manager.
