Supplemental Security Insurance ( SSI ) And Social...
If you live in Milwaukee, WI the rules for being eligible for supplemental social security income
are the same as if you lived anywhere else in the nation. In the majority of cases, the rule is that
you cannot receive Supplemental Security Insurance (SSI) and Social Security Disability
Insurance (SSDI) at the same time. Only very rare cases get approval for concurrent benefits. To
receive both the SSDI and SSI benefits at the same time, you must first be approved for Social
security disability insurance and your monthly payments must be on the low side. There are
several reasons why some people may have low SSDI monthly payments. These include: 1.You

For applicants who are blind, the monthly SGA amount for 2018 is $1970. For applicants who
have a medical impairment other than blindness, the monthly SGA amount for 2018 is $1180.
When you apply for Social security insurance, all your countable income sources will be
evaluated to determine if you meet the requirements. The countable income in general consists
of all the earned income as well as all the unearned income. When you get SSDI benefits, this
money is considered to be unearned income. However, you should be fully aware that any
money you earn should not exceed the minimum as specified by the social security insurance
program. If you are earning SSDI more than your SSI, then you will not get the latter. In the
State of Wisconsin, the limit set by SSI on unearned income is $710 per month. If you exceed
that, you will not be a candidate for SSI. Being eligible for SSI is not as simple as you would
imagine. There is a significant amount of documentation required and the agency requires a great
deal of information to determine your eligibility. They will look at both your earned and
unearned income when determining your financial need as well as any other money that you may
have access to through other sources and your assets. .The SSI program has a monthly income
limit and it also has a limit on total available assets. In Milwaukee, the total asset limits are $3,000

Much Ado About Nothing Double Entendre Analysis
Much Ado About Nothing is a comical 14th century play, written by the most influential play
writer of all time William Shakespeare. In 1598 and 1599 when this play was written, there were
merely two types of genres; comedy and tragedy. Hence, Much Ado About Nothing is classified as
a comedy, since no characters die, there is a happy ending and a comic hero/heroine. In the play,
Leonato arranges the hasty engagement of Claudio to his daughter, Hero. Don John appears to
also love Hero, and plots to deceive Claudio into believing Hero is cheating on him. As a result,
Claudio believes this delusion and decides to confront Hero at their wedding, causing Hero to
supposedly die from shock. Meanwhile, Hero convinces Beatrice that Benedick is an ideal
husband. The play comes to a joyful conclusion when Claudio marries Leonato s niece , whom is
really a reincarnated Hero. The lovers are reunited and Benedick and Beatrice also announce that
they will get married too. Shakespeare uses strategic and effective language techniques of double
entendre, dramatization and topical humour, to develop comedyin Much Ado About Nothing.
Double entendre is constantly present throughout Much Ado About Nothing and greatly develops
the audience s enjoyment. Double entendre is a word or phrase that can be interpreted in two
ways and have a suggested meaning. Before the play even begins, the title is a prime example of
double entendre. During the 14th century, nothing would have been pronounced as noting ,
meaning the characters are attentive to all the wrong ideas. It is debatable that nothing also
translates to women s genitalia, suggesting the play is practically Much Ado About Vagina s.
Furthermore, practically every line Margaret says in the play can be interpreted in two ways and
is an example of double entendre. More specifically, in Act III, Scene 1, Margret claims, I ll make
her come... Margaret is talking about seeking Beatrice for Hero, yet is really inferring to the
sexually explicit meaning of come/cum . For the audience, this double entendre is quite amusing
and consequently, significantly develops the genre of comedy in Much Ado About Nothing.
Practically every aspect of Much Ado About Nothing is over

Why Cosmetic Surgery Improves Mental Health
Alecia Colvin A main motivator for getting cosmetic surgery is the desire of being more satisfied
with one s own appearance and improving self esteem. However, research has shown that this is
not always the case. There have been variable results showing whether cosmetic surgery will
improve psychological variables such as body image, self esteem, and mental health. Body
image specifically has been suggested to be a crucial factor in the desire to undergo cosmetic
surgery. This is based off two important components including body image evaluation, referring to
how satisfied a person is with his or her own body, and body image orientation, indicating how
important body image is for a person. A person with a low body image evaluation combined with a
high body image orientation increases the likelihood of a person wanting plastic surgery. Mental
health aspects have also been addressed in research literature. The general question here is whether
cosmetic surgery improves mental health despite previous psychological state.
Studies done in the past have shown variable results. Several studies done have mainly looked at
breast reduction. Only a few studies have examined postoperative changes in other cosmetic surgery
procedures or have looked a several surgery types. There has been evidence suggesting that body
image evaluation improves after breast reduction and augmentation surgery. In another study,
results showed no significant improvement with cosmetic surgery.

Policy and Pestle Analysis
PESTLE Analysis
A PESTLE analysis for Mydin must consider all the important external factors impacting on the
company. These factors may have political, economic, social and culture, technological, legal or
environmental dimensions. These forces, although out of the company s control, may have an
impact on the success of any future plans. By considering them, a company can change direction,
build contingencies, identify new opportunities or do nothing at all. It is an important part in the
strategic decision making.

Current trend indicate that customers have moved towards one stop and bulk shopping, which is
due to a variety of social changes. Mydin have, therefore, increased the amount of non food items
available for sale. Demographic changes such as the aging population, an increase in female
workers and a decline in home meal preparation mean that Mydin are also focusing on added value
products and services.
In addition, the focus is now towards; the own label share of the business mix, the supply chain
and other operational improvements, which can drive costs out of the business. National retailers
are increasingly reticent to take on new suppliers (Clarke, Bennison and Guy, 1994; Datamonitor
Report, 2003). The type of goods and services demanded by consumers is a function of their social
conditioning and their consequent attitudes and beliefs. One example of Mydin adapting its
product mix is to accommodate an increased demand for organic products.
Technological factors
Technological factors are usually easier to spot, because new technologies involve change, and
change is always noticed. For instance, online shopping has had a major impact on Mydin s
recent success. Conversely, The change created by technological advances often lead to legal
problems, which is why legal analysis is always an important part of a PESTLE analysis.

One reason a drum is thought of having medicine is when the drum is made from cedar. The
Cedar tree has been known as a powerful healing tree and thus this medicine is passed on to the
drum as a sort of healing energy. The other reason that a drum is thought to have medicine is
because of what type of skin is used. Elk, deer, buffalo, horse, and moose, just to name a few, all
have some kind of significance when it comes to being used on a drum.
To the First Nations, deer is considered to have a connection to the circulatory system. To be more
precise, the Heart, the heart can be left unattended for long periods of time. This lack of attention
can lead to high poverty in the sense that there is never enough time, never enough money, or never
enough love. Native Americans believe that Deer opens the heart to allow them the teachings of
trust and to allow them to empower the power of love and wisdom. They feel that drumming with

remind them that they live in a universe filled with more than enough of every thing that is needed.
Drumming with Deer helps when the feeling of being unloved engulfs someone, it in turn reminds
them of the laws of circulation. In other words, when one is feeling unloved then its time to love
others and all things, and soon that love will be returned tenfold.
Drumming with Buffalo is used when one seeks to gain wisdom and guidance from their Ancestors

You can talk about age related differences, but you cannot show age related changes with a cross
sectional studies. The old cross sectional studies tended to show that age related differences
began early in adulthood and continued to be apparent later. But, we have a more contemporary
view and it is a lot more positive. The notion is that while there are some age differences and
decline, it is less extreme than initially reported. There is a difference between cross sectional
studies and longitudinal studies because: 1. Cohort effects Years of Education Good health

From The Frying Pan Into The Fire Analysis
Nowadays, doing work seems to be inseparable from everyone s daily life throughout their whole
lifetime. Basically, work means any activity or actions that people use their energy to accomplish
something, and it could represent people s effort in both physical and mental levels. For instance,
when people are teenagers, they usually do the housework and schoolwork. As for the reasons
why people do such works, people are always told by others like their parents and their teachers
that: doing housework, like sweeping the floor and cleaning the dishes, enables teenagers gaining
basic skills at home, and helps them alleviate some social pressure of their parents; doing
schoolwork, like writing essays and making presentations, improves students academic
performance, and plays a significant role in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this way, it seems to be unacceptable for us to regard people s blind pursuit of work as merely
a way of earning for their families. Thus, in order to explore the true reasons why people do work
and how they value work, both authors give out their own explanation. Arlie Russell Hochschild, a
professor emerita of sociology at the University of California, Berkeley, observes in her reading of
From the Frying Pan into the Fire that no longer people value works as purely family obligations
that encourage people to work for supporting their families, people right now tend to value doing
work as ways to have satisfied lives. And Kenji Yoshino

covering is work, meaning that in order to be accepted by others who may come from different

Reducing High School Dropouts
In the education system today, competition for scholarships and acceptance into college is
increasingly competitive. In order to access to these advantageous opportunities, students in high
school work diligently in order to maintain high grades. As a consequence, distractions, and even
worse, falling behind, can be disastrous. Many of these said distractions however, are fellow
students themselves. Just as many students strive for excellence, others barely pass for mediocracy,
and they drag diligent students down in their apathy of school. In order to remove these
distractions, it could be suggested that by lowering the high schooldropoutage, it would benefit

Essay about The Answer to Academic Success
The Answer to Academic Success
For many years students have been using numerous studying techniques to help them succeed in
their academic careers. Almost every student in the world studies or at least tries to, but the truth is
many of them do not understand the key concepts of doing it effectively. When it comes down to
studying there are three important areas that everyone should practice to get better at and they are
time control, classroom note taking, and textbook studying. In the process analysis essay Power
Learning by author Sheila Akers; Akers focuses on those three ways to develop good study skills.

Lastly, write down all examples given by your professor. Succeeding academically means being
able to read and study textbooks. For many students, textbook studying is often the most difficult to
understand. After hours of studying, the textbook becomes difficult to read and understand. Steps
to improving the understanding of textbooks are to first preview the section you are about to read.
By previewing a section a student can get a better understanding of how the information will be
organized. Previewing the title is done first because it is the shortest summary and may give away
the limits of the material that will be covered. Marking is the second step to textbook studying.
Highlight important material at the same time you read through the textbook carefully. Marking is
very beneficial because if a student can always go back and see important highlighted material.
Note taking is the next step, make sure to reread the chapter and write down all important topics
and main ideas. The fourth and final step is to study the notes. When studying notes a student must
use the method of repeating and self testing. Repeating and self testing is the answer to effective
learning and one must not just rely on reading their notes. Practicing more of time control,
classroom note taking, and textbook studying will all increase the chance of academic success.
Managing your time effectively will prevent you from letting time pass by. Showing up

Muhammad Ali Influence
As Muhammad Ali once stated, Don t count the days; make the days count ( Boxing in the 1960s.

impacted many and also made countless statements that still ring true today. His impact on the
outlook of the Vietnam War was influential for many, and it motivated others to push for civil
rights like he did. A lot of fellow activists approved of his actions, while others were very against
what he believed in. Clearly, Muhammad Ali, otherwise known as Cassius Clay, was a controversial
topic during the Vietnam War.

place in the late seventeenth century and explores the experiences of African American through
slavery and freedom. The novel includes characters if mixed race; Portuguese, Dutch, English,
Native American and African American who are trying to settle down in the new world. Morrison
focuses on the ravages of slavery, both physical and emotional, that plagued the time. More

Morrison lets each of her key characters control the narrative at some point in A Mercy. Her choice
with both the treatment of time and the treatment of perspective makes it possible for her to
capture the reader s full attention and leave the reader disoriented and anxious for answers about
the upcoming events in the novel. The conflicts among the characters lay emphasis on novels
structure. Morrison writes each chapter of the book as if it is being told through the point of
view of a different character with only Florens points of view consistently repeating. The
sequence of the narrative is as follows: Florens /Jacob /Florens /Lina /Florens /Rebeka /Florens

from dying of small pox. The last chapter of the novel is also written as first person point of view

Martin Luther King And Malcolm X
Civil rights activists all had the same paramount goal in mind: equality for Black people in the
United States. While everyone could generally agree on what they wanted fair wages, an end to
segregation, voting rights the means to the end were a little fuzzy, at best. What was the best
strategy to gain respect for the Black people of America, in a society that largely didn t tolerate
people of color? Two major philosophies on the matter stemmed from the minds of great activists
Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. Dr. King s approach to the situation was, as always,
peaceful protest, while Malcolm X promoted supporting Black business and communities, allowing
them to prosper. While both approaches would bring about positive change for the Black
community in the 60 s, Malcolm X s approach to the matter makes a more compelling argument by
being significantly more beneficial in the long run.
Both Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X agreed that boycotting white only industries was
a sound method of protest against white supremacy in the economy. However, Dr. King s
approach to the problem ended there. This is not to say that his boycotts weren t effective at all:
according to the article provided, Operation Breadbasket have increased the income of the Negro
community by more than two million dollars annually (King), showing that King s plans weren t
all just idealistic nonsense, which is what Malcolm X most disagreed with in terms of political
philosophy. Operation Breadbasket, the Chicago plan to boycott products from companies that
refused to hire Black people and treat them fairly, succeeded temporarily. Dr. King s boycotting
approach cut profits in white only industries in Chicago and forced them to hire Black people and
pay them fair wages, both substantially beneficial to the Black community. Where Dr. King s plans
fall short, however, is in securing this change and preventing power from slipping back into the
hands of white supremacists. This is why, though a respectable approach, boycotting alone is not
enough to evoke lasting, meaningful change in a community built on oppression and subjugation.
Malcolm X boycotted white industry as well, but the extra steps in his plan went beyond that

The Leadership Style Of Transformational Leaders
Everyone views power differently within organizations. Political power permeates
organizational life and depending your own outlook can be perceived in many different ways. It
can also depend on where one is positioned within the organization as to how that power is
perceived. Nelson and Quick described political skill as the ability to get things done through
favorable interpersonal relationships outside of formally prescribed organizational mechanism
(Nelson Quick, 2013, p. 408). CTCA utilizes its political skills within a transformation leadership
style. Per Daft (2015), transformational leaders have the ability to lead changes in an
organizations vision, strategy, and culture as well as promote innovation in products and
technologies (p. 360). As further described in Daft, transformational leadership paints a grand
vision of desired future in a way that it makes the pain of change worth the effort. It inspires
followers to go beyond their own self interest for the good of the group (in CTCA s case the
patient). It elevates the concerns of lower levels of need to higher level psychological needs.
And lastly, it develops followers into leaders. (Daft, 2015, p. 361) CTCA practices the personal
powers of expert and referent power. The expert power is established by their constant drive to be
a leader in the field of oncology and always bringing in the latest and greatest tools to treat our

before Robert had entered the room. The counselor began by having, one by one, each of his
friends and family member read their letters. It was a very emotional process for everyone as many
members of the team started crying as well as Robert himself. When the letters were complete, the
counselor stated their intentions of being there and asked him if he would go into treatment and
begin the process of recovery at that moment. Robert agreed and the team congratulated him and

Conflict Is An Inevitable Element Of Life We All Go Through
Conflict is an inevitable element of life; we all go through conflict in every ramification of our
life: in relationships, family of origin and even workplaces. What is conflict? Interpersonal conflict
can be defined as an expressed struggle between two or more interdependent parties who perceive
incompatible goals, scarce resources, and interference from others in achieving their goals (Wilmot
an, 2011, pg.11). It is important to note that conflictis not always bad and it can range from a mild
disagreement to outright war between two parties. In this paper, I will analyze my conflict situation
using some conflict resolution concepts and also substantiate insights on how my conflict could
have been better handled.

At the meeting the next Monday, one item at the agenda was to give constructive feedback about
the event and all we got from Priscila was outright negative feedbacks ranging from the setup to the
duties assigned. After that meeting she started giving an attitude to all the executives and also
giving excuses for not coming to the council s weekly meetings. After many weeks of negative
attitudes and excuses, she resigned from her executive position and sent an email to the co chairs to
affect that change.
The issue within this conflict is based on the question of who should welcome the audience to the
event. I wanted to welcome the audience to the event because I had been assigned that duty as
agreed upon in the previous meeting while Priscila wanted to do the welcome or introductions
because it fit into her duty as moderator. Interpersonal conflict arises either because people want
different things or they want the same things. With regards to my conflict with Priscila, we both
wanted to assume the position of welcoming people to the event. Priscila and I belong to the same
student advisory council where we volunteer our time as council executives. In this conflict,
Priscila wanted her opinions to be respected while I wanted the notions addressed within the
minutes to be adhered to without stepping on another person s toe. Within this conflict, I wanted to

Juvenile Prevention Programs
The Implementation of Juvenile Prevention Programs their Effectiveness A journal article,
Effective correctional intervention programs for juveniles: review and synthesis of meta
analytic evidence, written by Kim, Merlo and Benekos claim there are relevant factors that
determine the effectiveness of a juvenile corrections program. Such factors primarily include the
knowledge that what works for adults does not necessarily mean it is going to work for a
juvenile. There is not a one size fits all model that can be applied to youth and adult offenders
(Kim, Merlo, Benekos, 2013). In response to recidivism, if a juvenile is treated similarly to an
adult, there is no guarantee there will be a comparable success. Another factor for effective

persistent symptoms or when signs compatible with acute sinusitis occur (Desrosiers et al., 2011).

Justification of American Slavery
How can you justify something that s incredibly wrong? Our founding fathers were face with the

The elite of Chesapeake society condoned various forms of servant exploitation in all gradations of
severity. From 1607, the founding of the colony in Virginia, until 1660, Chesapeake masters abused
servants in the course of their work, but only rarely denied them their rights if they reached the end
of their indenture. By 1660, the system took an even more sinister turn. Tobacco planters morphed
their already exploitative system into a new system that shared many parallels with slavery. The
planter elite prevented freedman who had legally completed their indentures from acquiring land,
which was the entire attraction of the New World. They tried to keep servants indentured for
longer, and if they could not keep them as servants, they ensured that the former servant would

The Open Window By Saki
A story is usually as good as the characters that you encounter while reading. The way a writer
reveals a character is called characterization. One form of characterization is direct characterization.
Direct characterization is when the author tells you directly what characteristics the character has.
An example of this is Bob is smart, brave and honest, . Another form of characterization is indirect
characterization. This is when the author shows the character in action and lets the reader decide
what kinds of people we are meeting. The open Window , by Saki, is a great example of
characterization as the author develops the characters of Nuttel and Vera indirectly through their
speech, how they look, and their thoughts and feelings. Saki

Andy had to balance her social life and her career pursuit where Miranda had given her many

The task of attaining the manuscript was the breaking point of Andy s workplace, however as
she received the manuscript Andy felt relieved. After getting the manuscript, Miranda was
astonished and started to show Andy respect. After the completion of this task, Andy had
responded in a respectful manner as she answered Miranda s questions about the manuscript.
This was quite humble of Andy as she achieved an impossible task and still spoke to Miranda in
a kind demeanor. If I was in Andy s shoes I would not do things differently as Miranda is her boss
and is willing to fire Andy. Considering this, I would respond to Miranda in the same way Andy
did as her job is on stake. It is evident that this task was difficult and a burden for Andy.
Another instance where Andy had to complete a difficult task was memorizing a protracted list
of names for the fashion extravaganza. They had to tell the names of the guests to Miranda as
they approached her. This task was difficult as she had to memorize all these names by midnight.
In one instance, Andy saved Emily as she forgot the name of one of the guests and Andy
whispered the name into Miranda s ear. Miranda s reaction of this was slightly thankful however
mostly neutral. Emily had a different reaction and was impressed at Andy s work. Andy responded
with a slight nudge and smiled as Emily thanked her. I agree with how Andy responded as she didn

my judgment, my effective use of critical thinking, and my open mindedness. I agree with this
because I actually spend more time thinking things through and assessing the cost and rewards
than I do with the action I was originally thinking about. The Second Strength was Fairness,
equity, and justice. I do agree with this strength but its description is not how I would describe it.
I treat all people fairly and how I would want to be treated. I may give everyone a chance but

Historical Background The worship of white complexion and projection of the ideal beauty as
fair skinned is not a new concept if we try to track it down he history lane. In fact, this concept
has engrained in our physc by our culture from the ancient times. The Varna system of Social
classification When Aryans (natives of Arctic and hence fair skinned) invaded the Indus Valley,
they drove the darker skinned inhabitants down south. The ones who remained were called as
das and made to do subjugated jobs as labourers, cleaners and even undertakers. Hence in the
social classification, they were allotted the lowest rung. As time progressed and with continuous
labour in the sun, the das came to be associated with dark colour and simultaneously fair colour
started to be associated with affluence and aristocracy. Hence, the social classification, the caste
system was very aptly called as the Varna system, Varna meaning colour . Mythology If one
observes ancient Indian texts on mythology and related epics, it is easy to observe a very
common pattern. Almost in all Indian texts the hero of the epic who mostly is from a noble family

Civilization Huntington Summary
While reading this article I was п»їп»їable to iidentify ways Huntington talks about and uses
religion in his assessment of world affairs, the composition of civilizations, and how civilizations
interact with each other. Democracy is like religion it can be seen as a imperialistic venture if it
is not grown at home. trying to convert a person is always a act of bigotry. Without the ideology of
collectivism, the new enemy would then be based on culture or maybe even religion. I believe that
Huntington identifies the civilizationin the religious divisions because civilization is a cultural
entity. (2) All groups for example: ethnic groups, religious groups, regions, nationatilies, and

civilization . Which is one of the ways to define civilization . Huntington believed that the people
of different civilizations had different views on the relations between God and man, the individual
and the group , the citizen and the state, parents and children , husbands and wifes , as well as
different views of he relative importance of rights and responsibilities , liberty and authority
equality and hierarchy. (8) Throughout history religion definitly played a big role in the
development. Religions such as Islam , Buddhism and Hindu have spread to the kingdoms
throughout the entire world , by the use of missionaries. Religions became popular because they
were a way of understanding unexplainable things at the time , and I believe thats why Huntington
made it the most important aspect f civilization. However , we still have unanswered questions
today, now we have the intelligence to understand the facts to prove a theory and the need for

Analysis Of Buddha In The Land Of Kami
Buddha in the Land of Kami reviews Japan on a historical account. It revisits the story of the Kami
and elaborates on the country s uniqueness. Significant to Japanese culture, this film recognizes
Chinese culture as the primary influence on Japan formation. The film given categorizes as a
historical documentary that appears to be in the setting of Japan from the seventh and twelfth
centuries. Although World History; Culture, States and Societies, explore a different time frame
(500 B.C.E Seventh century), there are still many similarities as compared to the documentary;
such as the importance of the Kami, and the role Chinese culture play on the development of Japan.
Shintoism: The Way of the Kami. Israel defines Kami as spirits that affiliate with natural objects
such as the sun and the moon. In the opening of Buddha in the Land of the Kami, the narrator
shares the historical background of the Kami, stating that a spiritual duo came down to Earth to stir
up the sea waters, creating the archipelago of Japan. The sprits figure out reproduction and multiply,
inhabiting the chain of Islands known as Japan. The narrators also mention the Kami in mountains,
wind, grass and other natural entities. According to the film, spiritual rituals performed in earlier
eras show continuity in Shinto shrines today. Israel explains that later, during the Asuka Nara
Period, The Yamato high courts establish a system that would monitor Shinto shrines. The Yomato

The 1815 Eruption of Mount Tambora
Mount Tambora, located on the Island of Sumbawa, Indonesia is classified as a Stratovolcano.
Also known as a composite volcano, Tambora is a tall conical volcano (cone like structure)
where layers of the walls are built by hardened lava and volcanic ash. The term composite is used
to describe the volcano due to the composite layered structure built from sequential outpourings of
eruptive materials1. Among the most common types of volcanoes, Tambora also shares its
destructive prowess with best known volcanoes such as Krakota (1883) and Vesuvius (79 A.D).
The Island of Sumbawa is located in the middle of the Lesser Sunda Islands chain (a group of
islands in the southern Maritime Southeast Asia) and is in the province of West Nusa Tenggara3.

Understanding the eruptive history of Tambora can provide crucial information needed to detect
and prepare for future events. Furthermore, it is important to test current understanding of plate
tectonics to ensure scientists are adequately prepared to predict where future volcanoes may occur,
using past volcanoes like Tambora as a model. 2.0 Plate Tectonics of Indonesia Indonesia is situated
between two tectonically active plates: Australian and Eurasian plate. It is important to understand
the amount of fault motion between these plates, as it is the major source of influence regarding
eruptions in the region. The result of these tectonically active plates is the creation of the Circum
Pacific belt (termed the Pacific Ring of Fire) and the Alpide Belt. Figure 3 provides a pictorial view
of both plates and their relation to the Circum Pacific belt. The Circum Pacific belt is the world s
greatest earthquake belt, with a series of fault lines stretching 25,00 miles7. An unfortunate
circumstance for the inhabitants of Indonesia who are situated between these two belts, the
eruptions of earthquakes and volcanoes are far too common. Essentially, volcanoes erupt either due
to divergent tectonic plates pulling apart causing an eruption, or convergent tectonic plates coming
together (forming great pressure) causing an eruption8. In the case of Indonesia and the Circum
Pacific belt, the latter is more common. Because Indonesia and

The Success Of The Franchise Industry
The franchise industry is an industry that is highly visible to the public eye; mainly because of
such names as McDonald s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Popeye s, Burger King, Starbucks and the
like. They all fulfill a service which the general public supposedly needs. From a simple fried
chicken leg, to a strong cup of specialized coffee, or even a set of bed linens, they all serve a
general purpose. Each one supplies the public with goods and services at a cheaper price.
The people or individuals who purchase a franchise also have to follow certain rules and regulations
which are presented to them in the form of a binding contract.
The accounting field also plays a major part in such transactions and the everyday life of a
franchise. Everyone needs to be informed of how much income a franchise is taking in as well as
what the myriad of expenses are. These expenses include how much they have to pay out in wages,
inventory costs, insurance, rent, repair and upkeep, along with all the matters concerning taxation
and billing. Sometimes things work out properly and everything is kept strictly honest while at
other times illegal situations arise.

franchisee and franchiser. I will then discuss three recent accounting crimes, look at how the people

Analysis Of Aetna s Workplace Culture
Culture
Aetna s workplace culture stands as a model to other organizations, regardless if they are an
insurance company or not. The CEO s mantra on having a successful workplace simply states let
s invest in our people (Aetna CEO: Let s, 2015). Bertolini himself was no stranger to struggle in
his personal life, having his son beat an incurable cancer as well as he himself getting into a skiing
accident where he was given his last rites (O Donnell, 2015). Having gone through these life
altering events, his outlook on how employees should be treated and the resources they should have
access to surpasses those of other organizations. This prompted open communication between all
employees, allowing for everyone to freely speak what they thought of their work conditions.
Enabling employees to have more input on decisions strengthens their alliance to the company and
also makes them feel like they are a valued piece of the organization. The most talked about change
for the betterment of employees by far was his announcement to raise the minimum wage to $16, in
addition to lowering out of pocket costs for their health care without having to pay more in
premiums (O Donnell, 2015). This demonstration of how the company cares about its employees
went over wonderfully with the low wage workers, as they now have a higher take home pay, as
well as better health insurance coverage from their organization which they could not previously

In the early 1990s, the Communication Law Centre and the Media Entertainment and Arts
Allegiance aka Actors Equity (MEAAA), with some assistance from the Office of Multicultural
Affairs began a campaign to address what they felt was poor record of achievement when it
came to the proper portrayal of cultural diversity in popular television drama. This came after
research into the representation of non English speaking people in Australian television drama.
At that time, it was estimated that less than 2% of available roles were given to performers of
culturally diverse backgrounds and there were no continuing or recurring roles for indigenous
performers (May, 2001). Australian TV networks are failing to represent the people who make

completely ignored while the two gaze upon one another. He sits down, still having a complete

With the boxing match in the camera angle, the female promptly vanishes. The man is in disarray

desired figure, but a symbol as well. In this case he is a symbol of success. The ethos appeal is
successfully exercised in this advertisement because the male seems to be well put together. In

Romans Christian Worldview Essay
Ray Foote Worldview Paper Bible 425 From the beginning of Paul s letter to the Romans is not
only a letter to the Gentile church in Rome, but also a great introduction to the Gospel for
anyone, believer or non believer to get a starting point from which to form a world view. Paul is
clear from Romans 1:3 5 states that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, and the Son of God. Within
the first chapter of Romans, Paul is clear in that God s wrath is on the whole earth, believer and
non believer. Romans 1:20 states that God s invisible attributes, eternal power and divine nature
can be seen in the created world. Meaning that those people, whom have never heard of the Gospel
of Christ, can still understand God, and have a relationship... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Romans 3:21 states that Jesus came to provide righteousness away from the Law, that way is
Jesus Christ. Verse 22 states that is faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. Verse 24 states that
we are all justified freely by God s grace and that God send Jesus as an atoning sacrifice for the
world. The role that Jesus had on earth was to be a sacrifice for the sins for the world, to be the
pure lamb, for those who have faith in the teachings and saying of Jesus Christ, the redeemer for
the sins of the world that all have done. One of the most overlooked verses in Romans is chapter
5 verse 3; this is one of the only places in any holy scripture where one would find us being told
to rejoice in our sufferings because it builds perseverance. Romans 5:18 states that just as sin
enter the world through one man, so also the result of all righteousness was justification that
brings life for all men. God did not want his creation to die, but we made the choice to do so, this
God sent Jesus to be the atonement for that sin. Romans chapter 11 starts off telling Christians
that we are to offer our bodies as living sacrifices to God, it is a way of worship, Paul is telling
the readers of his letter, that their bodies are Gods creation, not something that we should be killing
when you do drugs, or the other stupid things that people have done to their bodies. Paul also tells us

The Indian Removal Act By President Jackson
The idea of western expansion was promoted in order to strengthen the reputation and the entirety
of the infant country. This was appropriated and romanticized through texts and documents, such as
Manifest Destiny by John C. Calhoun and the message promoting the Indian Removal Act by
President Jackson, which uses various appeals and logical fallacies to persuade the audience on the
ideal benefits and optimistic virtues without the consideration of the Native American demographic.
While expanding, the Americans encountered numerous Native Americans that ranged from a
violent interaction to a peaceful treaty of removal in order to satisfy the American s territorial
cupidity. Despite America resorting back to its founding principles to... Show more content on

Similar to African Americans and women in 1800 s (and arguably now), these Amerindians were
minorities that arguably possessed no value nor contribution the cultivation of the United States.
Ideas initially encouraged by Christopher Columbus, where he refers to Native Americans as
ignorant savage beasts, has been preserved and acknowledged by the Americans where the belief
of inferiority resonates with their perspective of the Native Americans. Immoral as this notion
sounds, the Americans would then enfranchise to urbanization, industrialization, and acquisition
of abundant resources without pondering on the consequences it has on the Native Americans.
In 1830, in order to proceed in territorial aggrandizement, newly inaugurated President Jackson
scribed a congressional message promoting the removal of Indians for the vain benefit of the
United States. In the intermediary of his message, he states a rhetorical question: What good
man would prefer a country covered with forests and ranged by a few thousand savages to our
extensive Republic, studded with cities, towns, and prosperous farms embellished with all the
improvements which art can devise or industry execute, occupied by more than 12 million happy
people, and filled with all the blessings of liberty, civilization, and religion? (Jackson 1) The
inclusion of this rhetorical question is to exclude the care for Native Americans as they are
perceived as savages , and place more stress on the significant

formed by a rift zone that is no longer active. It is 1700 meters deep and has 20% of the worlds

In general terms, discuss the ways in which the change from a centrally planned economy to a
more market based economy has affected career options and standards of living for the elderly,
young professionals, unskilled laborers, members of the military, women, and former government
bureaucrats. The collapse of the Soviet Union started the change to a market driven economy.
Everyone had to learn what capitalism was and had to do so very quickly, which was not an easy
process. Changing to a market driven economy was great for those who had an advantage, such as
the previous leaders in the Soviet Union. They were able to take over state run businesses as their
own and become wealthy. Others, like young professionals, unskilled laborers etc....lost their jobs
and unemployment skyrocketed. With the unemployment so high, the standard of living for these
workers worsened.
3.Discuss the declining birthrate in Russia and other countries in the region. What do you think the
impact of this decline can have on neighboring countries and regions? Are similar declines
happening elsewhere? The declining birthrate is seen all throughout Russia and neighboring
countries. A lot is due to many choosing to have less children and also the high mortality rate of
younger men. It seems that Europe and the United States are also seeing a decline in the birthrate,

Anna Sewell Research Paper
Anna Sewell was perhaps the only person whom book was called the first significant children s
story in English language. She was born in Norfolk, England on March 30, 1820. Her father was
Isaac Sewell (1793 1879), and her mother, Mary Wright Sewell (1798 1884) was a successful
writer of children s books in her own right. She faced many challenges and accomplishments in her
lifetime. Growing up she loved riding horses and telling stories. As a young girl, Anna was more
concerned about the humane treatment of horses and she often spent hours with her father
traveling to and from the station. She helped her mother edit her manuscripts from an early age
and published her own in 1877. Sewell received most of her education at home and had a younger
brother named Philip.
Sewell wrote the book Black Beauty the last seven years of her life. She began writing it 1871 and
published it in 1877. It was dedicated to including kindness, sympathy, and an understanding

At the age of fourteen she fell and sprained her ankle while running down a steep carriage.
Despite this, and most likely because of mistreatment of her injury, Sewell was lame for the rest
of her life and was unable to stand without a crutch or to walk for any length of time. She did
however travel to health spas in Germany and Spain to help cure her ankle injuries. Also, growing
up, she was often too weak to hold the pencil herself, so instead her mother wrote while Anna told
her story. Following that in 1871, Sewell was confined her home by her disability. Sewell became
increasingly ill during the writing of Black Beauty, and it is only through her mother s transcription
and dictation that the novel was completed. Anna Sewell died of hepatitis on April 25, 1878 just
five months after her publication, living long enough to see the book s initial early

Challenges within the 56th HBCT Essay
The purpose of this memorandum is to discuss leadership and development issues and
challenges within the 56th HBCT. I have identified 8 issues and challenges that currently plague
the unit and are having an adverse effect on it and our soldiers. Additionally, discussion will
focus on the top three of these issues as well as the importance of resolving the most important
one of them with the greatest of speed.
While the unit was successful in accomplishing all of their missions in Iraq, the CALL s
extensive study identified several issues that I believe will have an impact on our future
effectiveness. The command and control at battalion and below levels was, at times, greatly
affected by incompatible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Division required the DCO to be tasked out to
supervise MITTs that were in our battle space, made him the LNO to coalition forces and he was
also required to act as the BCT chief of staff. These various assignments throughout our AO
caused confusion amongst staff and soldiers on what the DCO s role actually was and what he
was responsible for. Allowing the DCO to function as deputy commander is vital to ensuring
that our unit command structure remains in place.
I was recently contacted by the brigade provost marshal and informed about an undocumented
report of a brigade sniper shooting and killing and Iraqi civilian. I was further informed that the
soldier who reported it to provost marshal had previously informed it to the Brigade S 2 but it
was not clear if any investigation had been done on this matter. The reporting soldier has also
threatened to take the story to the media if nothing is done. While this matter is currently being
investigated, I believe that the root cause of this problem was the lack of properly trained snipers
at the platoon level. While the MTOE authorized one per platoon, the operating environment
required more. This resulted in undertrained snipers being deployed. An increase in the number
of school trained and authorized snipers could have resolved this problem.
Another organizational challenge that currently faces the 56th HBCT

A Tragic Hero Indeed! In Sophocles tragedy Oedipus the King, King Oedipus swears to solve the
murder of former King Laios in order to free the city from the plague. The plague taunts the city
destroying crops and livestock and making the women unable to bear children. A seer, Teirsias tells
Oedipus that he himself is Thebes s pollution for killing his father and marrying his mother.
Oedipus ignores his words and is blind to the truth until he discovers that it is he who corrupts the
city. In order to illustrate Oedipus as the perfect Aristotelian tragic hero, the reader must examine

with heavier punishment than a mortal man can bear (Exodos 75 77). Choragos sees the pain

Oedipus is strong to have been through so much. He sees that Oedipus has wronged because he

The Greeks, Non Greeks And Expressions Of Humanism
A. Greeks, Non Greeks and Expressions of Humanism
Throughout history, the concept of humanism has changed and in a way evolved over the years.
Many believe that humanism began with the early Greek civilizations, but there are many instances
of non Greek expressions of humanism. From Hammurabi s Code in Mesopotamia, to the Romans
art and sculptures, and lastly the way the Egyptians viewed their Pharaoh s as leaders with supreme
importance.
Humanism is a term that has become synonymous with human and natural rights. One of the
earliest expressions of human rights is Hammurabi s Code of Laws. Hammurabi s laws were
often recognized because of the harsh punishments that would occur if you broke a certain rules.
If a man put out the eye of another man, his eye shall be put out. (*) In other words an eye for an
eye has to be one of the most notorious laws that s written in Hammurabi s Code. But, one of the
most frequent of penalties of the various 282 laws was death (@). Even though to many people
these laws would be considered extremely harsh, these laws became a model for future law
systems. These laws set an example that for every improper action there would be a proper
punishment that would follow. But, the main problem with these laws was that they were very
vague and don t consider other possibilities such as religion.
There are many different ways that humanism could be expressed. Specifically the Romans loved to
express humanism through their numerous sculptures

Barn Burning Sarty Analysis
Not only is Barn Burning about the in the hereditary sense of blood ties, but it is also about how
a young boy s conscience dictates his actions. It is through Faulkner s use of stream of

Throughout the story, Sarty tries to imagine that Abner might change his behavior. Maybe he

Job Experience At College Graduates
Obtaining a job in today s society may seem difficult due to the ever increasing population of
college graduates promoting a healthy dose of competition, yet it will come naturally if one has
prior experience before obtaining a full time job. In my current stage of being a senior without
any job experience before graduating will prove to be tough to find a company willing to hire
someone as such. Almost all of my friends have some sort of job experience both in either industry
or in jobs not related to engineering. I on the other hand privately do have job experience, but this
is through a small family business manufacturing custom window treatments. Ever since I was a
young child, many professors told me to not cite family as a credible source of job experience. I
assumed this was said in order to prevent those that simply place inane job titles on their resume
when they in fact worked or observed only five minutes of the job. My job was to assist my
father in the manufacturing of curtains, pillows and roman shades; occasionally installing the
drapes in the client s home with the profits going towards the family. Money going towards my
family s funds has led to me not have to file any taxes and whatnot . Where whatnot is the
miscellaneous papers that I am not aware of in my current knowledge that s usually seen if one
had a job. I have attempted to place my work experience onto my resume as the section labeled
work experience is left blank, but the starting date looked

use the force on the car. With the click of a button on the keychain the father turns the car on and

Now before it was mentioned that a strength the commercial had was the fact that it was aired
during the 2011 Super Bowl but at the same time tat was also a weakness. Now the commercials
during the Super Bowl get a lot of popularity but they do not get much screen time for 2 major
reasons. The first being it costs millions of dollars to get a commercial to air during the Super
Bowl and second, many other companies want to get a commercial to air also so the time has to
be split evenly. Little screen time means sacrificing vital information for the commercial. In
other words, the commercial was good at making itself memorable and fun to watch but it did
not display many features or specifications about the car that are important when someone is in
the market to buy a car. The only feature Volkswagen showed was the fact that you could click a
button on your keychain to turn the car on. That feature is not important when it comes to the
safety of the vehicle or how many miles to the gallon the car has. If people did not care about the
specifications then there would be no competition in the car industry other than to make a car as
fancy looking as possible. Another weakness the commercial displayed was not giving a good
price point for the car. The commercial said prices starting at $20,000, which to begin is a bit
high to begin at for a 4 door sedan. Also, what would make the price higher? This brings viewers
back to the specifics of the car that the commercial doesn t tell

They resided close to the Bay of Fundy making it easier for them to trade with others coming

with other colonies and continue providing their families with food and resources for a formal

If you live in Milwaukee, WI the rules for being eligible for supplemental social security income are the same as if you lived anywhere else in the nation. In the majority of cases, the rule is that you cannot receive Supplemental Security Insurance (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) at the same time. Only very rare cases get approval for concurrent benefits. To receive both the SSDI and SSI benefits at the same time, you must first be approved for Social security disability insurance and your monthly payments must be on the low side. For applicants who have a medical impairment other than blindness, the monthly SGA amount for 2018 is $1180. When you apply for Social security insurance, all your countable income sources will be evaluated to determine if you meet the requirements. The countable income in general consists of all the earned income as well as all the unearned income. When you get SSDI benefits, this money is considered to be unearned income. However, you should be fully aware that any money you earn should not exceed the minimum as specified by the social security insurance program. If you are earning SSDI more than your SSI, then you will not get the latter. In the State of Wisconsin, the limit set by SSI on unearned income is $710 per month. If you exceed that, you will not be a candidate for SSI. Being eligible for SSI is not as simple as you would imagine. There is a significant amount of documentation required and the agency requires a great deal of information to determine your eligibility. They will look at both your earned and unearned income when determining your financial need as well as any other money that you may have access to through other sources and your assets. .The SSI program has a monthly income limit and it also has a limit on total available assets. • 6. Much Ado About Nothing Double Entendre Analysis Much Ado About Nothing is a comical 14th century play, written by the most influential play writer of all time William Shakespeare. In 1598 and 1599 when this play was written, there were merely two types of genres; comedy and tragedy. Hence, Much Ado About Nothing is classified as a comedy, since no characters die, there is a happy ending and a comic hero/heroine. In the play, Leonato arranges the hasty engagement of Claudio to his daughter, Hero. Don John appears to also love Hero, and plots to deceive Claudio into believing Hero is cheating on him. As a result, Claudio believes this delusion and decides to confront Hero at their wedding, causing Hero to supposedly die from shock. Meanwhile, Hero convinces Beatrice that Benedick is an ideal husband. The play comes to a joyful conclusion when Claudio marries Leonato s niece , whom is really a reincarnated Hero. The lovers are reunited and Benedick and Beatrice also announce that they will get married too. • 7. Why Cosmetic Surgery Improves Mental Health Alecia Colvin A main motivator for getting cosmetic surgery is the desire of being more satisfied with one s own appearance and improving self esteem. However, research has shown that this is not always the case. There have been variable results showing whether cosmetic surgery will improve psychological variables such as body image, self esteem, and mental health. Body image specifically has been suggested to be a crucial factor in the desire to undergo cosmetic surgery. This is based off two important components including body image evaluation, referring to how satisfied a person is with his or her own body, and body image orientation, indicating how important body image is for a person. A person with a low body image evaluation combined with a high body image orientation increases the likelihood of a person wanting plastic surgery. Mental health aspects have also been addressed in research literature. The general question here is whether cosmetic surgery improves mental health despite previous psychological state. Studies done in the past have shown variable results. Several studies done have mainly looked at breast reduction. Only a few studies have examined postoperative changes in other cosmetic surgery procedures or have looked a several surgery types. There has been evidence suggesting that body image evaluation improves after breast reduction and augmentation surgery. In another study, results showed no significant improvement with cosmetic surgery. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Basically, work means any activity or actions that people use their energy to accomplish something, and it could represent people s effort in both physical and mental levels. For instance, when people are teenagers, they usually do the housework and schoolwork. As for the reasons why people do such works, people are always told by others like their parents and their teachers that: doing housework, like sweeping the floor and cleaning the dishes, enables teenagers gaining basic skills at home, and helps them alleviate some social pressure of their parents; doing schoolwork, like writing essays and making presentations, improves students academic performance, and plays a significant role in... Just as many students strive for excellence, others barely pass for mediocracy, and they drag diligent students down in their apathy of school. By previewing a section a student can get a better understanding of how the information will be organized. Previewing the title is done first because it is the shortest summary and may give away the limits of the material that will be covered. Marking is the second step to textbook studying. Highlight important material at the same time you read through the textbook carefully. Marking is very beneficial because if a student can always go back and see important highlighted material. Note taking is the next step, make sure to reread the chapter and write down all important topics and main ideas. The fourth and final step is to study the notes. When studying notes a student must use the method of repeating and self testing. Repeating and self testing is the answer to effective learning and one must not just rely on reading their notes. Practicing more of time control, classroom note taking, and textbook studying will all increase the chance of academic success. Managing your time effectively will prevent you from letting time pass by. Showing up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Martin Luther King And Malcolm X Civil rights activists all had the same paramount goal in mind: equality for Black people in the United States. While everyone could generally agree on what they wanted fair wages, an end to segregation, voting rights the means to the end were a little fuzzy, at best. What was the best strategy to gain respect for the Black people of America, in a society that largely didn t tolerate people of color? Two major philosophies on the matter stemmed from the minds of great activists Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. Dr. King s approach to the situation was, as always, peaceful protest, while Malcolm X promoted supporting Black business and communities, allowing them to prosper. While both approaches would bring about positive change for the Black community in the 60 s, Malcolm X s approach to the matter makes a more compelling argument by being significantly more beneficial in the long run. Both Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X agreed that boycotting white only industries was a sound method of protest against white supremacy in the economy. However, Dr. King s approach to the problem ended there. This is not to say that his boycotts weren t effective at all: according to the article provided, Operation Breadbasket have increased the income of the Negro community by more than two million dollars annually (King), showing that King s plans weren t all just idealistic nonsense, which is what Malcolm X most disagreed with in terms of political philosophy. Operation Breadbasket, the Chicago plan to boycott products from companies that refused to hire Black people and treat them fairly, succeeded temporarily. Dr. King s boycotting approach cut profits in white only industries in Chicago and forced them to hire Black people and pay them fair wages, both substantially beneficial to the Black community. Where Dr. King s plans fall short, however, is in securing this change and preventing power from slipping back into the hands of white supremacists. This is why, though a respectable approach, boycotting alone is not enough to evoke lasting, meaningful change in a community built on oppression and subjugation. Malcolm X boycotted white industry as well, but the extra steps in his plan went beyond that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. The Leadership Style Of Transformational Leaders Everyone views power differently within organizations. Political power permeates organizational life and depending your own outlook can be perceived in many different ways. It can also depend on where one is positioned within the organization as to how that power is perceived. Nelson and Quick described political skill as the ability to get things done through favorable interpersonal relationships outside of formally prescribed organizational mechanism (Nelson Quick, 2013, p. 408). CTCA utilizes its political skills within a transformation leadership style. Per Daft (2015), transformational leaders have the ability to lead changes in an organizations vision, strategy, and culture as well as promote innovation in products and technologies (p. 360). As further described in Daft, transformational leadership paints a grand vision of desired future in a way that it makes the pain of change worth the effort. It inspires followers to go beyond their own self interest for the good of the group (in CTCA s case the patient). It elevates the concerns of lower levels of need to higher level psychological needs. And lastly, it develops followers into leaders. It is important to understand the amount of fault motion between these plates, as it is the major source of influence regarding eruptions in the region. The result of these tectonically active plates is the creation of the Circum Pacific belt (termed the Pacific Ring of Fire) and the Alpide Belt. • 38. The Success Of The Franchise Industry The franchise industry is an industry that is highly visible to the public eye; mainly because of such names as McDonald s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Popeye s, Burger King, Starbucks and the like. They all fulfill a service which the general public supposedly needs. From a simple fried chicken leg, to a strong cup of specialized coffee, or even a set of bed linens, they all serve a general purpose. Each one supplies the public with goods and services at a cheaper price. The people or individuals who purchase a franchise also have to follow certain rules and regulations which are presented to them in the form of a binding contract. The accounting field also plays a major part in such transactions and the everyday life of a franchise. Everyone needs to be informed of how much income a franchise is taking in as well as what the myriad of expenses are. These expenses include how much they have to pay out in wages, inventory costs, insurance, rent, repair and upkeep, along with all the matters concerning taxation and billing. Sometimes things work out properly and everything is kept strictly honest while at other times illegal situations arise. My paper will be a brief explanation regarding how crime is and is not committed within a franchise. The CEO s mantra on having a successful workplace simply states let s invest in our people (Aetna CEO: Let s, 2015). Bertolini himself was no stranger to struggle in his personal life, having his son beat an incurable cancer as well as he himself getting into a skiing accident where he was given his last rites (O Donnell, 2015). Having gone through these life altering events, his outlook on how employees should be treated and the resources they should have access to surpasses those of other organizations. This prompted open communication between all employees, allowing for everyone to freely speak what they thought of their work conditions. Enabling employees to have more input on decisions strengthens their alliance to the company and also makes them feel like they are a valued piece of the organization. The most talked about change for the betterment of employees by far was his announcement to raise the minimum wage to $16, in addition to lowering out of pocket costs for their health care without having to pay more in premiums (O Donnell, 2015). Australia is a very diverse, multi cultural nation with the majority of the population having migrated from Asia, Africa and Europe. Almost every single home in Australia has a television and almost every single Australian watches free to air television daily. In the early 1990s, the Communication Law Centre and the Media Entertainment and Arts Allegiance aka Actors Equity (MEAAA), with some assistance from the Office of Multicultural Affairs began a campaign to address what they felt was poor record of achievement when it came to the proper portrayal of cultural diversity in popular television drama. This came after research into the representation of non English speaking people in Australian television drama. At that time, it was estimated that less than 2% of available roles were given to performers of culturally diverse backgrounds and there were no continuing or recurring roles for indigenous performers (May, 2001). Australian TV networks are failing to represent the people who make up the majority of this country s population; it being one of the most culturally diverse countries on the planet. One of the main excuses given by producers and directors when asked why they don t cast ethnic/LGBTQIA actors is that there are no actors from those two communities who want the job. That is a lie. If you go to any Performing Arts schools or centres in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth or all of Australia, you will find actors of colour as well as LGBTQIA actors waiting for a chance to be cast in a good role, or any role available.
