1. Essay On Cultural Identity
Crafting an essay on the theme of cultural identity can be a challenging yet enriching endeavor.
The difficulty arises not merely from the need to articulate thoughts coherently but also from the
intricate nature of the topic itself. Cultural identity encompasses a vast spectrum of elements,
including but not limited to one's heritage, traditions, language, beliefs, and the amalgamation of
experiences that shape an individual's sense of self.
As the writer delves into the exploration of cultural identity, they must navigate the fine balance
between personal introspection and broader societal contexts. Striking this equilibrium requires a
nuanced understanding of the subject matter and the ability to weave a narrative that is both
reflective and inclusive. Additionally, addressing the complexities of cultural identity
necessitates sensitivity to diverse perspectives and a willingness to engage with the multifaceted
layers of identity that exist within societies.
The writer must grapple with the challenge of avoiding stereotypes and generalizations while still
presenting a comprehensive view of the topic. Tapping into personal experiences and anecdotes
can lend authenticity to the essay, but it also demands a careful consideration of the potential
biases and subjectivity that may arise.
Moreover, cultural identity is a dynamic and evolving concept, influenced by historical, social,
and global factors. Keeping abreast of these dynamics adds another layer of complexity to the
essay-writing process. The writer must remain cognizant of the ever-changing nature of cultural
identity and its intersections with other aspects of life.
In conclusion, composing an essay on cultural identity is a demanding task that requires
intellectual dexterity, cultural sensitivity, and an adept command of language. It involves
navigating the intricacies of personal and collective identity, all while maintaining a thoughtful
and inclusive perspective. It is through this intricate dance of words that the writer can convey
the richness and diversity inherent in the exploration of cultural identity.

2. What Is Professionalism
What is professionalism in the context of being a student in a doctor of the physical
therapist degree program?
Professional Responsibilities
Professionalism is a characteristic one attainable by a series of conduct that aims
towards being the best one can be. This can be reflected by actions such as the way
someone talks and walks. The characteristics of a leader would be a perfect example
of professionalism. These characteristics are as follows: ethics, responsibility, great
habits, desire for knowledge, skills, humbleness, politeness, wisdom, compassion,
loyalty, respect and understanding. These are some of the many qualities one must
attain towards being professional. The application of these qualities defines the ism at
the end of professionalism and that for me it indicates the state of being.
Professionalism in the context of being a student of physical therapy means you will

It is not a façade one puts on when speaking to clients and take off when
interacting with co workers, family or anyone else. In order to be a genuinely
professional student, you have to live by what you preach and treat others the way
you want to be treated. A professional student shows respect for everyone without
considering social or financial status. Humility is the ability to accept not knowing
everything. Therefore, a professional student should have the capacity of listening
and accepting advice from anyone. Also a professional student in any type of
setting influences people in a positive way. The commitment to lifelong learning is
essential and is the basis of being a professional because today s knowledge may not

I close my eyes and everything seems so calm that it is as if time itself has stopped
altogether. A wave of peacefulness rushes over me. New York City, I still cannot
believe it. I begin to hear a soft hum in my ears that quickly increases in volume. I
open my eyes and I am suddenly brought back to reality as the train rushes by, its
horn blowing loud and strong. The train slows to a stop and the doors open. All at
once a massive crowd of people rush off of the subway. Those of us standing on the
platform push through the crowd, praying that our massive group of dancers will all
make it onto the train. Due to the morning rushhour there is not a seat in sight and
there is barely any room to stand. As the train lurches forward we struggle to stay
standing. I look out of the window and watch the flashes of graffiti on the dark
walls as we charge forward. The train stops and starts three times. Each station just
as chaotic as the last. We quickly approach our fourth stop, West 4th Street, the
nerves begin to kick in. The train slows to a stop and once again we push through
the morning foot traffic. We follow the signs towards the West 8th Street exit,
struggling to stay together. I think to myself, whatever happens, don t lose sight of
the chaperone. As we approach the stairwell the air begins to feel cooler. We reach
the top of the stairs and the entire atmosphere changes. Whereas the people in the
subway were frantic and rude, the people that filled the sidewalks are calm
5. What Are The Best Policies The United States Should
Implement
What are the best policies the United States should implement to solve the illegal
immigration problem? Immigration is an important implication throughout the
United States as a whole. This topic drafts many opinions, both positive and negative.
The media uses propaganda to put blame on the immigrants for taking American jobs,
or not being allowed to live in our country legally. Others give a more welcoming
view to them, that they re welcome to come to our country and they have a chance to
restart their life. An estimated 12 million plus undocumented (illegal) immigrants
currently reside in this country.

There are approximately 3.7 million unlawful immigrant households in the U.S.
These households impose a net fiscal burden of around $54.5 billion per year. The
final disagreement exclaimed by many Americans, is the free education that illegal
immigrants are getting for coming to the United States. Most schools will give
millions of dollars of loans to illegal immigrants. The Supreme Court case Plyler vs
Doe was held in June of 1982. This Court case was about public education for
immigrant students. The Supreme Court ruled 5 4 that the Board could not deny the
immigrants an education. Plylers Equal access to education for children regardless of

Immigrants will take our jobs and lower our wages, and create less jobs for the
working Americans. Immigrants are usually brought closer to regions that have a
big supply and demand such as farms and factories in big agriculture countries. The
south has a lot of farms for immigrants to get jobs on and supply for their families.
These are jobs Americans in our society don t like to do. On top of this,
undocumented immigrants will accept a job for lower wages
than the Americans and can be paid under the table . They will do the dirty jobs for
less than minimum wage to support their families. Another argument is how
immigrants overuse welfare in this country. All unauthorized immigrants don t have
legal access to the welfare reforms. But immigrants make a large contribution to
Medicare and Social Security when

In the past decades, the demand for electronic devices and appliances has been in
demand in many nations. That is due to the ever changing technology that has led to
the replacement of the old electrical and technological devices. Nonetheless, with the
advancement in technology, individual needs across the globe have also changed.
The modern technological devices have to a great extent simplified life where most
of the activities that were manually done in the past are now done using
technologically advanced machines. That has significantly improved the quality of
the output. Moreover, the production process has been made more efficient. For
instance, accounting tasks in almost all offices across the globe have embraced the
use of computers. That has not only simplified the work done by the accountants but
also increased the accuracy (Andritzky, 2007). The demand for these devices has
given business opportunities to many investors who seek to provide and avail the
machines to customers across the globe. Britsam Company is a firm that has been in

Being born in a generation full of technological advancements, I believe that, with

Fathers and Sons is a novel written by Russian author Ivan Turgenev and originally
published in 1862. Emerging in tsarist Russia during the realism period of literature,
Turgenev examines the subject of changing generations in his novel. In Fathers and
Sons the new generation is represented by the characters Arkady Nikolaevich
Kirsanov and Evgeny Vasilich Bazarov, recent university graduates and self
proclaimed nihilists. Nihilism, a term popularized by Turgenev himself, is a broad
philosophical school of thought that debases traditional values of life. Fathers and

were gaining a strong following. Throughout the novel Turgenev uses a combination

Yes, interposed Pavel Petrovich, yes; you were convinced of all this, and decided not
to undertake anything seriously, yourselves. We decided not to undertake anything,
replied Bazarov grimly. (48)
When Bazarov begins to expound on his philosophy, nihilism is not presented as
wholly detrimental. He simply disavows frivolity, values practicality and thinks life
to be simply a question of getting bread to eat (48). But Bazarov and Arkady make
no attempt to improve conditions as they see them. They believe that the society that
has been built is superficial and antiquated and must be brought down, but have no
plans to undertake any sort of reconstruction: We shall destroy, because we are a
force, observed Arkady. (49). Turgenev shows nihilism to be a destructive force only,
incapable of engineering anything better than that which it seeks to destroy.
However, throughout the novel, Arkady is fraught with internal conflict over his
philosophy, and begins to slowly stray from his tenets. When staying at his father s,
Arkady makes a point of a defending Pavel to Bazarov. Pavel is very much the
opposite of Bazarov (who is Turgenev s embodiment of nihilism), acting always with

Vladimir Nabokov is an artist that accentuates the aesthetic pleasure which
patterning affords. The fabric of Pale Fire is woven with a dense texture of mirrors,
doubles, parodies, games, riddles, masks, and disguises. In the story, such games of
perception (particularly the notion of reflection and misconception) creates a
disparity between reality and fantasy. One of the most well known and multifaceted
line in the poem comes from the first stanza, fifteenth stanza, and supposedly the last:

16. Cultural Ignorance in Heart of Darkness, By Joseph
Conrad...
An inescapable ignorance dominates the way we define culture . It is all too easy to
define culture when a group of people feel as though they are part of the same
culture. A bias arises when defining this term, because we consider ourselves to be
cultured . We define culture with our own definitions, and we judge it through our
own prejudiced eyes. To accurately define culture, we must take ourselves out of the
cultural boundaries we have been accustomed to. Of course, this is impossible.
Accordingly, defining the essence of culture is something I cannot attempt to do.
In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, the attempt to define the cultural line leads to
the corruption, greed, and evil of the white man. Even when ... Show more content on

treating natives as their slaves. At the central station, Marlow is struck by the

controlled madness and of a reverse society in George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four.
Ranald argues that Nineteen Eighty Four is about ...religion reversed, law and

Despite the hurt between most relationships throughout Nineteen Eighty Four, to
say that all human relationships are based on pain (Ranald 251) in the novel is
false. Although I would agree that the O Brian Winston interactions would
categorize under pain, the Winston Julia relationship is about desire. Ranald fails
to see that not all human beings communicate... by inflicting pain on each other...
(Ranald 252) Winston s love for Julia is what kept him alive for so long, for at the

Through the non linear structure, this allows the audience the opportunity to see how
the characters present lives are intrinsically joined to their past. It also allows the
characters to be suspended in time so their lives seem linked even though none of the
characters were actually in the children s home at the same time. In Neighbourhood
Watch a non naturalistic performance style is used to allow the audience to make
sense and develop their understanding of the present characteristics of the characters.
Flashbacks of the main character are portrayed in non naturalistic form as we see
Anna s friend Catherine playing out the role of young Ana . This is evident in Act 1
Scene 10 and Act 1 Scene 16. All three scenes require the Catherine to transform into
a new character called Young Ana as we flashback into the past scenes of Ana s
imagination; this is evident in the texts stage directions ARTUR speaks to
CATHERINE now, as though she is the young ANA. The real ANA steps slightly
away to show the transformation of ANA into CATHERINE. However the scenes are
set within the setting of the present time, for instance, the text stating Ana s home
transforms into Hungary shows the non naturalistic setting of the scenes. Both
performance techniques are elements of the Non naturalistic performance style and
highly reflect the non naturalistic nature of the performance. Identify and discuss

22. A Rhetorical Analysis Of Steve Jobs
Moreover, Steve Jobs, describes past events of his life in order to motivate the
college students to follow their hearts. For example, through organization, Mr. Jobs
manages to give a symbolic meaning to the third story, as it is the last, and it is
about death, the last event all humans experience. Also, using anecdotes, he narrates
the time he was diagnosed with cancer and the doctors thought it was terminal
evoking empathy from the audience. The anecdote contributes to the creation of a
somber tone, too, which is illustrated in sentences like It means to say your
goodbyes and I lived with that diagnosis all day . Then, Steve Jobs changes the
mournful tone and concerned mood of the audience into a jovial and friendly one

Jobs himself giving him credibility when talking about death due to him having
experienced how it feels to know one is going to die. The use of the anecdote and
inductive reasoning further contributes towards the purpose because it presents
proof to the point from which Steve Jobs bases the rest of his argument: No one
wants to die. . And because no one wants to die, and yet everyone does, you should
have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. The anecdote is used as the
basis of all the logical reasoning in the story, and the conclusion of the logical
reasoning, is to follow your heart (the goal of the purpose). Finally, the use of short
sentences with deep meaning is crucial to achieving the purpose because it grants the
audience a simple take away, something that those college students can remember for
the rest of their lives, and yet contains the main message Steve Jobs wanted to give
the students: be eager, be

With the falling prices of cell phones more and more people have the luxury of
owning one. This also affects the ever growing number of people who text each

they could die. Convicted drunk drivers who present a constant danger to the safety
of others have to take a special class, and due to fact that texting and driving
ultimately creates crashes it should have similar consequences. Statistics show that
texting and driving has a higher chance to causes accidents than intoxicated drivers.
The reason that texting has such a high chance to create an accident lies in the fact

These numbers should have people at least consider the idea that sending one
message to a friend should not be as important as to risk one s own life. People
caught driving while intoxicated receive a specific punishment to help prevent
further offences. People caught drinking and driving can suffer a large number of
penalties even at the first offence. Some of the penalties include fines, license
restrictions, mandatory attendance at alcohol education classes or counseling, or
community service (Drunk). The reason the class is required is because alcohol
has proven to be addicting to some individuals. These individuals need help if they
can hope to avoid drinking and driving. The class generally will consist of a
program for all addicts not just those who are charged with Driving Under the
Influence (DUI). The idea works for both people who abuse alcohol regularly and
those who only abuse it occasionally. For the moderate to rare abusers the program
will force them to see and interact with people who have a serious addiction, and
seeing the addicts can help scare them away from bad choices regarding alcohol for
a while. The addicted people can not only benefit from the class, but they can also
receive more help if they desire or require it. Considering the punishments that drunk
drivers receive, people caught texting and driving should acquire a similar
punishment. Sending texts varies greatly from drinking and

Observing Glycolysis and Respiration Occurring in the Muscle Cells of Flesh Flies

Abstract The reason we performed this experiment was to determine the individual
organelles of the flesh flies muscle cells that are used in the process of glycolysis and
respiration. The flies were placed in the freezer where they would become inert,
making it easier for us to perform the experiment. We dismembered the flies, leaving
only the thoraxes, where the greatest concentration of mitochondria is located.
Blending the thoraxes together then allowed us to centrifuge the homogenized
substance, giving a result of the separated pellet and substrate. ... Show more content

This occurred because it had the homogenate in the test tube, which contains the
pellet and supernatant. Adding glucose to the solution initiates the reaction because
the supernatant contains cytoplasm, where glycolysis occurs. This allowed for
respiration to happen which consumed oxygen and bleaching to occur. In test tube
two, it did not bleach because there was no supernatant and no enzyme to perform
glycolysis. Test tube three did not bleach. The solution contained supernatant,
which allowed for glycolysis to occur, and glycolysis does not need oxygen due to
its anaerobic operation. The solution did not have the pellet so respiration did not
occur and no oxygen was consumed, so it did not bleach. Test tube four bleached
because it contained both supernatant and pellet and allowed for glycolysis to
happen and then respiration. Bleaching had occurred in test tube five. There was
succinate in the solution which fueling the pellet for respiration causing the dye to
become colorless when there is a low presence of oxygen. The solution in test tube
six did not bleach. It contained the succinate, but it did not contain the pellet, which
is need for respiration. Test tube seven bleached even though it had nothing to fuel
the reaction (no glucose or succinate). When the flesh flies were alive, they were fed
sugar, which ended up in their digestive tract, and some of it ended up into our
solution. Based on the reactions in each test tube, we

to measure and test the blood alcohol content in a person s blood stream before
allowing for a vehicle s ignition system to be started up. Essentially it is a device
that is installed in a vehicle s dashboard and before the vehicle can be started up, the
driver must breathe into the device. If the analysed result is over a programmed
predetermined blood alcohol concentration that has been preset into the breathalyzer
ignition interlock, the car would not start. This device will also keep a record of the

across the Internet, but all may not what it seems. While on paper these offers may

Sign up sportsbook bonuses are by far the most common form of sportsbook bonus.
Pretty much every online bookmaker offers them year round, and given the current
membership levels of many, they seem to work to entice new players. When a new
punter signs up for an online sportsbook operator they will hand out a bonus that
relates to a percentage of their first deposit. The percentage offered usually falls
between 50% and 200% and is of use most when it is fully maximised. This is
because seldom offer bonus provide players with the chance to claim as much.
Reload Bonuses
Reloaded bonuses can be seen as the type of bonus that allows winners to bounce
back and losers to keep losing. Working in a similar fashion to the previously
mentioned sign up sportsbook bonus, they reward players who continuously deposit
after registration. For example, should your bankroll be fast approaching zero,
making another deposit could provide you with a reload bonus that will help further
your game time. The catch with reload bonuses is that your bankroll often needs to
be below a certain threshold for them to come into effect.

29. Comparing Foss V Harbottle Rule And Derivative Action
Introduction
The protections under the Corporations Act suffice to guard the minority from the
majority s unfair wrongdoing. In fact, the Australian corporate law provides
significant protections on shareholders. To support the argument, this essay discusses
Foss v Harbottle rule and derivative action. It also elaborates exceptions to the rule,
especially fraud on the minority and statutory protections available for the minority
protection under the Corporations Act. These are analysed in views of organic
theory, economic theory and aggregate theory. It concludes with that specific
protections for the minority are unnecessary because these may lose the balance of a
corporation and the minority and majority members.
Minority shareholders right to Derivative Action
Foss v Harbottle case was a foundation of development of derivative action that
enables a minority shareholder to bring a legal action in order to recover from a
wrong done to the company. Two principles, so called Foss v Harbottle rule, were
made to corporate law in related to a minority shareholder s right. The first principle
was the internal management rule preventing floodgates open to multitude actions by
individual shareholders dissatisfied with operation of a company. Under the internal
management rule, complaining on internal management by minority shareholders
was taken by a board of directors. A decision for the complaint was also decided by
the majority rule. The second principle was the proper

As an example, if a lot of students join to Business College and get good education
from their university, they will help to flourish the economy in the country and
increase it. Also, there will be a lot of people working in different jobs that will
destroy the unemployment, this will help increase the economic section in the
country, and the country will be in the list of the good countries to live in. If we get
a good education in university, we will make our country in the list of the good
countries to live in. In a study conducted by Simon Marginson and Gary Rhoades
(2002), they observe that, the world in which we now live takes us beyond the
conceptual confines of current comparative higher education scholarship. Today,
higher education in every corner of the globe is being influenced by global economic,
cultural, and educational forces, and higher education institutions themselves (as well
as units and constituencies within them), are increasingly global actors, extending
their influence across the world (p.

32. Napoleon s Influence In Italy Research Paper
In north Italy, roots of struggles between city states still plagued their relationships.
Their failure to unite reduced this potential to compete with other European powers
and therefore became political satellites in a continent of powerful nations. The
abrupt switch from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic and Indian oceans for new
sources of trade sent the maritime economy of Italian cities into decline. Direct
access to the Atlantic became the primary source of wealth for european countries
like Spain and Portugal. Challenges to the Church s authority in earlier centuries
failed to bring down the papacy, and in the 16th century it stood strong in face of the
Protestant Reformation. It did however, loose much of its influence in Europe.
Consequently, the Pope was able to establish its own house and enlarged the Papal

domain extended into the lower Po River valley.

Koreatown is located in Central Los Angeles. The neighborhood is one of the most
densely populated districts in Los Angeles County with about 42,611 residents per

Wilshire area and began opening businesses. Many of the businesses include Korean
food restaurants, which have become very popular recently (10). Despite the name of
the neighborhood the community is widely complex and impacts areas outside their
boundaries. Korean food has become one of the many elements that have influenced
the surrounding areas (2). Koreatown once catered to the Korean community yet as a
result of the growing Latino community Korean business owners now target this new
demographic (4). The growing Latino population has led to new business ventures
and business opportunities including new food creations and locations that cater to
that. Korean Mexican fusion food is one of the creations that have emerged from
Koreatown, specifically the Korean taco trucks (9). Koreatown evolving into the
neighborhood that it is today, Korean restaurants, and Korean fusion food have all
impacted the Korean Americanexperience in the last fourteen years. However, as the
new food creations have been gaining popularity it leads to the question of whether
this fusion of food has overshadowed the growth of the Korean American community.

acquisition There are many benefits of acquiring current assets than undertaking
greenfield investments. First mergers and acquisitions are quicker to execute. In fast
evolving markets this is very important consideration. When Telefonica wanted to
build a service presence in Latin America, it did so through a series of acquisitions,
purchasing telecommunications companies in Brazil and Argentina. The reason was
Telefonica knew that was the quickest way to establish a sizable presence in the
target market. Second reason for Telefonica preferred to acquire firms was because
those firms had valuable strategic assets such as brand loyalty, customer relationships,
trademarks or patents, distribution systems, production systems and so on. Hence it
was easier and less risky for Telefonica to acquire those assets than to build them
from ground up through a greenfield investment. Thirdly Telefonica might have
believed that they can increase the efficiency of the acquired unit by transferring

39. Developing A Health Advocacy Campaign For Hiv Stigma...
The mission of our project is developing a health advocacy campaign for HIV
stigma reduction. In our project, we illustrate the significant impact of the stigma
towards the population infected with HIV/AIDS and suggest a potential advocacy
campaign to reduce the stigma and incidence of this epidemic. Through this project,
I learned what a lot of people don t understand, is that anyone can be affected at
anytime if they put themselves in a situation where they could be at risk. People
identified as being HIVpositive, go through a tremendous amount of pressure and
injustice. I just could not imagine the enormous stigmatization these individuals
frequently go through. I had the urge to do something about it, to make a difference
in HIV positive individuals lives. Lack of social and emotional support from their
loved ones, only worsens their conditions resulting in mental health issues in addition
to their bodily health issues.
Right before we started researching about HIV/AIDS stigma, little did I know of the
physical, mental and emotional torments that affect HIV infected people s lives.
People infected with HIV who already suffer physically, shouldn t also have to suffer
mentally. HIV infection impacts all dimensions of a person s life and the last thing
they need is being rejected by their society. The stigma attached to HIV/AIDS causes
damage to society and after a lot of research, I can say on occasions, the stigma
causes even more damage than the virus itself. Because

Slicing food, chopping wood, cutting packages and preparing game are all different
tasks that need different specifications. The most important part of a knife is the
shape of the blade. The shape of the blade refers to two things. The grind of the
blade and the blade itself are the two factors that determine the choice of a knife.
If your main tasks will be involve cutting a lot of thick ropes or nets, then a recurve
or hawk bill shape will serve your needs. If you will go hunting at Pickwick Lake,
then you should buy a trailing point, drop point or Persian blades. For an ideal
knife, you should look for one whose tip is sturdy and pointy, has a straight portion
close to the handle and has a nice curve.
How You Will Use the Knife
The task at hand dictates the grind and the shape of the blade to go for. In layman s
terms, the grind of the knife is the method used by the knife manufacturer to put an
edge on the knife s blade. Grinds are many, but the most common ones are the flat
grind, the hollow grind and the convex grind. Hollow grinds are ideal for slicing, flat
grinds are preferable for general use, and convex grinds are preferred by those who
do a lot wood
41. Comparing Nature In Shinto And Hurricane Ike
While I never viewed nature in the exact same way as the Shinto have, being
Christian and all, I have always loved and admired nature. In some ways,
Christians also have an admiration of nature as part of God s creation which is
spoken on often in Church and the Bible states that God left all of his creation on
this Earth under the care of his people, therefore we should try to take care of it. In
that way it is similar. To name one time that I have experienced the power of nature
would be difficult to do as I can think of several things, such as my experiences
with hurricanes such as being in Hurricane Ike but those experiences were ones of
fear and stress, not spiritual power which I believe is closer to how the Shinto view
nature s power;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We arrived around noon and the day was absolutely beautiful! It wasn t too hot or
too cold, the humidity level wasn t very high, and there were only a few fluffy
clouds adorning the sky. What made the trip even better was the fact that no other
people were anywhere near where my family was, therefore, unless we talked to one
another the area was completely without human noise. I remember sitting in my chair
just admiring how almost clear the water was and how it reflected the azure sky
meanwhile listening to the occasional chirping of the birds and a gentile breeze
flowed through my hair. I remember thinking that I could stay an eternity
admiring this beauty alone. However, my sister lost interest pretty quickly as
unlike me, she suffers from ADHD, and an activity such as fishing doesn t really
work for her, especially when the fish are not biting like they were on that day.
After a while, my parents announced that they were going to give it a few more
minutes for the fish to bite and if nothing happens, we would pack up and go back
home. I was not ready to go home and was quite disappointed. So I did the only
thing that I knew could help extend our trip I prayed. In my prayer, I praised God
for his creation and all that he does, I described the beauty of it, and then I
mentioned how God has provided many miracles involving fish in the past. I asked
God if he would please let a fish bite and that I don t have to catch said fish but
rather I only wished to have something to give my family hope that there would be
some activity there today so that we could continue spending time together and
enjoy his creation. Not long after I finished my prayer, I got a bite on my fishing pole
and tried desperately to reel it in. However, my sister had borrowed my pole earlier in
the day and had apparently broken it and also the fish was much too strong for me.
My dad came rushing
42. Music Education And Its Impact On Education Essay
As you can see, music and dance are very influential in the culture of Brazil.
Therefore, music education is also important in the lives of the Brazilian people.
Children are exposed to music from an early age through family and community.
Unfortunately, music education is not highly regarded in the school system. The
amount of music educationdiffers greatly by school and teachers. Most public
schools do not have a special music teacher or department. In order to be well
educated in music a student would need to attend a private schoolor a conservatory. As
we transition into talking about education, we see that there are many different
positives and negatives to school in southern Brazil. Education is a factor that
strongly influences every culture. The way in which young people are educated
will determine the way in which a culture grows throughout the next generation.
The value a society places on education is a strong indicator of their worldview and
what the culture believes to be important. Education is valued by the Brazilian
government. This is clear because public education is free of charge to students in
all areas of Brazil. There are also numerous programs in place to help children pay
for school and to make sure adults are literate. People in Brazil value education
because they see it as the key to overcoming the economic struggles of families and
the country as a whole. Children ages six to fourteen are required by law to attend
school, this is known as
43. Mumford And Sons
The band Mumford and Sons can be credited with the fairly recent rise in the
popularity of folk rock music. Their raw and emotional experiences expressed in the
form of song, with the use of banjos, guitars, an upright bass, drums, piano, and
mandolin give them a sound that no other band can seem to duplicate.
Mumford and Sons were formed in 2007 in West London. The members of the band
include Marcus Mumford, who is the lead vocalist, he plays the guitar, drums, and
mandolin. Ben Lovett does vocals, keyboard, accordion, and drums. Winston
Marshall does vocals, banjo, guitar, and resonator guitar. And Ted Dwane does
vocals, upright bass, drums, and guitar (Ferro). All members of the band play a role
in the composition process.

They aren t concerned with traditionalism. They play the instruments they play,
because they like the way it allows them to express themselves. Band member Ben
Lovett tells the New York Times, In my head I m a little bit confused when people
say we hearken back to times of old. We re not that at all. For me I feel more
contemporary, and it just happens to be that we re using these instruments. But
that s just because the textures and the timbres and the sonic qualities of the
instruments that we re playing, they re great. The energy in the banjo, and the beef
in the bass. They re good tools to express yourself. , they don t have a goal of
maintaining a certain style, but a goal of maintaining their ability to express
themselves. Around 2013 the folk rock movement began to rise, I believe
Mumford and Sons played a major role in this movement. They are widely known
as the band that made folk rock popular again (Groff). Mumford and Sons are not
only responsible for the rise of folk rock music, but for paving the way for other folk
y singer songwriter bands like Ed Sheeran, Ben Howard, and Of Monsters and Men
(Pareles). They have a sound that cannot be duplicated, their heart and ultimate goal
of expression is what sets them apart and makes them so

Zoot Suit Riots
Last year I was able to get a small glimpse on the Zoot Suit Riots that had taken
place in the 1930s. On August 4, 1942 the United States concluded a temporary
agreement for the use of Mexican agricultural labor on United State farms. World
War II took a huge impact on the beginning of this program and the beginning of the
conflicts that ran through Harlem. These so called riots soon began to change the
views on the Mexicans that were dressed in such a way the Americans began to have
conflict with these Pachuco Zoot Suiters. In June 1943 Zoot Suit Riots in Los
Angeles, California were a series of attacks against Mexican American youth and
other minorities by white American servicemen. After these Zoot Suit riots broke out
and began to startle the mexican ethnicities. Families were damaged, lives were
killed. Discouraging this is a topic that was completely reversed and not taken as
seriously as is should have been. Imposing the lower and colored minorities for the
economic problems this country has gone through.
During these times dance halls were extremely popular for interacting, dancing and
forgetting about the stress of what was going on around the economic world such as
the Great Depression. L.A was full of mexicans. The style of the young people began
to evolve and mexicans were influenced through the hip, slang and Chicano ways.
These zoot suits outfits were very popular in African American
45. The Arbi Harnet Movement In The United States
Social movements are the essence of human rebellion for justice. From Malcolm X
to Deray in Baltimore, social movements play a huge part in how we get our voice
across to the elite. Even though some sociologists like Doug McAdam believe social
movements alone aren t sufficient to generate a successful result(McAdam,1982).
Others believe that social movements play a big role on how we pursue and impact
societal change. For instance, MADD Mothers against Drunk Driving is a successful
campaign that started with social changeand reduced drunk driving by advocating for
change in their own backyard. MLK, Rosa parks, Malcolm X all played a huge role
in getting rid of discrimination and racial division by way of social movement. From

It s revolutionary social change like the United Democratic front in South Africa that
fought to overthrow the apartheid regime (Goodwin, 2006). But at the same time, the
Arbi Harnet movement is also a form of grassroots social activism that uses print
media and community uprising in the form of news sharing to protest against a brutal
dictator and his repressive government. The movement uses several strategies to
make sure people are informed and up to date with what s happening. For instance,
they use Robo calls to stage mass stay homes. Instead of protesting in the streets they
protest by staying home to minimize the chance of the government cracking down on
protestors and also put pressure on the government to treat people fairly and with
46. The Birds By Daphne Du Maurier
Survival. As a famous saying goes, Sometimes even to live can be an act of courage.
Survival is not something most Americans think of first thing in the morning. For
some humans in the world, surviving is the most difficult task to complete in their
daily life; one reason being poverty. For Nat Hocken, it isn t poverty that made it
difficult for him to survive; it is birds. Birds are known to have a predominantly
positive connotation such as innocence, beauty, gentleness, nobility, and good omen.
In the story The Birds, the author Daphne Du Mauriercreates birds that are evil,
violent, ferocious, and savage creatures that are apparently hungry for humans. Nat,
living on a small farm, being physically disabled has to survive on his... Show more

Nat also had come to recognize the fact that if the government did try to help, it
wouldn t be any use for them. The government would first help its major population
in the cities; not the ones that live in some small rural farm. As a final point, Nat
was a critical thinker. Maurier says, he decided they must sleep in the kitchen... keep
up the fire...bring down their mattresses. He had everything planned beforehand and
was always planning his next step. Nat even calculated the times when it was the
most dangerous times to go out and when it wasn t. His wisdom was the reason his
family survived for such a long period of time.
Secondly, Nat was a very observant man. Maurier says that every day at work Nat
at midday would pause his work and watch the birds (Maurier 51). An average
person could have an hour long conversation with a friend in the coffee shop, but 5
minutes later can t remember what shirt they were wearing. This isn t a memory
problem; it s the same reason a person forgets why they just walked into the
kitchen. Humans have been accustomed to not notice such trivial things. Nat was
different because he would notice these small things. Maurier said, Jim s body laid
in the yard... cows trampled on...door...shut and bolted...close to telephone (Maurier
79) Here in front of Nat lays a dead body that has been trampled on by cows, but he is
able to pick out little details like the door being tightly

48. Queen Elizabeth I And Anne Boleyn
I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and
stomach of a king, and of a king of England too. Queen Elizabeth I. Queen
Elizabeth I was the daughter of king Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. She would later
become the 5th ruler in the Tudor dynasty. After her half sister Mary s rule she was
hailed a hero and known for saving England through one of its toughest periods.
Even more impressive she ruled alone with no king. Queen Elizabeth was one of the
best rulers in European history, she overcame a lifetime of difficulty and was well
liked among her people.
On September 7th 1533 Queen Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII welcomed their
baby, the future Queen Elizabeth I into the world, the king and queen were very
disappointed that Elizabeth was a girl. All the calibrations they had planned were
almost immediately canceled. It was almost as of they were shamed to have
birthed a girl. Due to her father King Henry VIII and her mother Queen Anne
Boleyn s questionable marriage and the timing of her birth many questioned if she
was actually King Henry VIII s daughter. Even if she really was however many
consider her to be a child of adultery (Doran 8). The controversy of Elizabeth s
legitimacy and Henry and Anne s marriages put a strain on the family. Henry
believed that his marriage to Katharine was invalid from the beginning due to her
previous marriage to Henry s elder brother Arthur. This convinced some of Elizabeth
s legitimacy. Since King Henry VIII had still not had a male heir and the ... Show

Hence, a diversified business operation insulates business risk. However, despite
both companies having a well diversified product portfolio, one can observe that
there are some differences between the two in terms of their products. As mentioned
above, Mars has been extending their main product line chocolate and introducing
new product lines by penetrating into new industries (e.g. drinks, petcare, nutritious
products). Moreover, Mars also penetrated into the chewing gum industry by
acquiring Wrigley in 2008, one of the leading confectionery companies in the
world with a wide product range. This acquisition, being one of the key success
factors of Mars, strengthened and diversified Mars confectionery business, as well
as increased its growth potential in the chocolate, non chocolate confectionery and
gum categories. Since Wrigley has worldwide presence, this acquisition enabled the
company to expand its operations and increase its market presence. Furthermore,
Wrigley s leading position and strong brand portfolio enabled Mars to become one
of the world s leading chewing gum manufacturers. Ferrero, however, has been
mainly focusing on extending their main product line Chocolate and did not
diversify their products in the same way as Mars did. Hence, based on these
observations, one can deduce that Mars is

51. An Essay On What Makes A Coach Great By John Wooden
What Makes a Coach Great
A good coach can change a game. A great coach can change a life. These words by
John Wooden really emphasize what I feel would make a great coach. A coaches
job might be to win games, but more importantly they have an opportunity to
change the lives of their players. If the coaches only help with success on the court,
and not in life, they will not make a great role model. Coaches have a responsibility
to develop their players into well rounded individuals. They can do this in a variety
of ways. Great coaches not only have to know the sport they are teaching, they must
be trustworthy, promote teamwork, and teach players life long lessons.
A great coach is going to have knowledge about the sport that they are coaching. Most
coaches have developed a passion for the sport they coach because they played the
game themselves. They have immersed themselves in the game by not just playing
the game, but also by watching the game, reading about the game, following
various players over time, etc. This passion becomes the fuel to teach others in
hopes that someday they too develop a love for the game, and possibly even one
day share their own passion with others. The coach needs to know how to not only
play the sport ,but also make game plans for the team they are coaching. They must

This allows them to see what other interests they have in common, and can also
show them their differences in a positive way. All of these are team building
exercises to make a team become one. Promoting teamwork will help teammates
push each other to do their very best they can do in the sport and possibly even in
life. When teamwork is created, the positive outcomes can be beneficial to the team
and the coach. These outcomes can be winning the game, improving one s
weaknesses, and their confidence in their
