Research Study On A Nurse Practitioner Operated Diabetic...
Research Methodology Sample Setting and Strategy The setting for this research proposal
study will be a Nurse practitioner operated diabetic clinic with a population of 2,500 patients. A
targeted population of older adults from age 45 to 70 years, who have graduated from high
school, and were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for greater than 6 months will be used. The
inclusion criteria for this research study will be: age 45 years or older, high school graduates,
diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for 6 months or greater, with a hemoglobin AIC of 7.0 or greater;
exclusion criteria would be: age less than 45 years, did not graduate from high school, not
diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and a hemoglobin AIC of less than 7.0 (Riley, 2013). Of the... Show

The rational for this selection is that quasi experimental designs are used to determine the
effects of an intervention, such as diabetes group office visits on participants receiving and not
receiving this intervention (Grove, Burns, Gray, 2013). Even though convenience sampling is
known to be a weak method of sampling due to its lack of bias control, it can work significantly
well when knowledge and care is used to perform a study (Grove, Burns, Gray, 2013).
Extraneous Variables Extraneous variables are variables that are not desired by the researcher,
but they influence the relationship of the study variables (Dictionary of Nursing Theory and
Research, 2010). In order to properly interpret study results, the goal of the research design is to
control these variables (Dictionary of Nursing Theory and Research, 2010). A study environment
that is not controlled introduces extraneous variables, so it is important to have an environment
that is equal to all participants (Grove, Burns, Gray, 2013). An example of an extraneous variable
in this study would be previous diabetes knowledge, because level of education is an important
extraneous variable (Grove, Burns, Gray, 2013). It would be ideal if all participants had the same
education level. An

Reconstruction Of Reconstruction During The Civil War
Describe and analyze Reconstruction. Did Reconstruction have any successes?
The end of civil war in the United States of America brought about many problems, in particular
for the South. Some of the problems were political, economic decay and social disorder. The war
destroyed the plantations and crops thus causing many to starve to death while others became
homeless. The reconstruction became the only hope for the people. Radical reconstruction
began in 1867, which enabled the freed black men to have a voice in the government. Before the
civil war, the Southern state had enacted laws that suppressed all African American. This fact
angered many people from the North who were seeking to end slavery. Therefore, during the
reconstruction era, the black people wanted their voices to be heard. The restoration process
began with small plans that were put forward by President Lincoln as well as President Johnson.
The two president s main aim was to combine the confederacy with the unions (Flanagan). This
fact was called the presidential reconstruction. The Republicans were put into office to ensure that
the freed people s rights were protected as well as to make sure that America was united. The civil
rights act was passed and the southern state began to follow the rule. The Congress passed the Ku
Klux Klan Act that would ensure that the federal authorities could be able to protect the freed
citizens. However, even with the introduction of such laws the African Americans were

How To Write A Biography Of Myers Essay
Myers began his Major League career with the New York Mets in 1985 under the management of
Davey Johnson, and was a member of the Mets 1986 World Series winning team. Myers became a
closer in 1988 as he platooned with Roger McDowell after Jesse Orosco left for the Los Angeles
Dodgers.
Myers was traded to the Reds in 1990 for closer John Franco, and became one of the league s elite
closers and the most successful member of the Nasty Boys trio, which also included Rob Dibble
and Norm Charlton, while being selected as an All Star in 1990. In 1990 Myers won his second
World Series ring as the Reds swept the Oakland Athletics. In 1991, the Reds experimented with
Myers as a starter, a move that proved highly unsuccessful as he posted a record of 6 wins and 13
losses.[2] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After only one season in San Diego, Myers was a Cub in 1993 where he posted his best statistical
season with a then National League record 53 saves. In a September 28, 1995 game vs. the Padres,
Myers was attacked by a fan at Wrigley Field after giving up a home run.[3] In 1994 and 1995,
Myers earned his second and third All Star selections. After the 1995 season, Myers became a
member of the Orioles where he had two more solid seasons, highlighted by an All Star selection
in 1997, when he saved 45 games. Myers had 28 saves for the Blue Jays in his final season, 1998,
before being traded back to the Padres after being claimed on waivers. Though he was under
contract for both 1999 and 2000, he did not pitch in the Major Leagues after 1998.
In a 14 year Major League career, Myers compiled a 3.19 ERA, 347 saves, 44 wins, 63 losses and
struck out 884 batters in 884.2 innings. Going into the 2008 season, Myers ranked seventh on the

Causes, Problems, and Cures for Air Pollution
When people think of air pollution, they most immediately picture heavy smog drifting over cities
and industrial plants. This is the first and most evident form of air pollution.
To better understand the subject, we need to define the term air pollution. Air pollution is the
presence in or introduced into the air of a substance which has harmful or poisonous effects. These
substances linger and cause many adverse problems. Humans and other living creations rely on the
atmosphere for reparation. When air quality is dampened by pollution, immediate and long term
consequences take place. Pollution has caused allergies, disease, damage to crops, and even death.
It is important that we fully understand the causes, problems, and possible solutions of air pollution
so that we can make an educated decision for Earth s future.
There are many causes of air pollution. We can divide air pollutants into two categories. there are
invisible and visible air pollutants. The smog you might see lingering over a city is a good
example of visible air pollution. Invisible air pollutants are obviously not as noticeable, but they
can be just as deadly, if not more so. Examples of invisible pollutants include nitrogen oxide, sulfur
dioxide, and carbon monoxide. Air pollution can further be split into primary and secondary
pollutants. Primary pollutants, such as sulfur dioxide, are ones directly

Analysis Of The Wife Of His Youth
The Wife of His Youth is a short story by Charles Chesnutt about a bourgeoisie man named Mr.
Ryder who is in a dilemma when the wife of his past shows up a day before he proposes to his
lover, Mrs. Molly Dixon. Originally Sam Taylor, an apprentice on a plantation, Mr. Ryder runs
away and settles in a light colored community Groveland where he becomes a bourgeoisie. In
Groveland, Ryder joins a colored organization Blue Veins where he further advances himself in
society and becomes the dean of the organization. The Blue Veins Society is created to establish
and maintain correct social standards among a people whose social condition presented almost
unlimited room for improvement (Chesnutt 624). As Ryder prepares for the ball and his
proposal to Molly, Liza Jane appears in his life and causes him to thwart his proposal. Instead of
proposing to Molly, he presents to his guests, Liza Jane, the wife of his youth. Chesnutt s The Wife
of His Youth addresses raceand Chesnutt s view on race, societal standards, language, and the
significance of Liza Jane s appearance with racial identity and the color line.
Race is an important element in The Wife of His Youth and can be prominently seen in Ryder s
encounter with Liza Jane. Ryder is a mulatto man, but has long forgotten his past and has
embraced the middle class societal life until Liza Jane presents him the case of her missing
husband. When Ryder meets her, she is described as, And she was very black, so black that

Challenges In Memphis
I am young man that works at a restaurant in Memphis. I don t like the job because they over
work me for minimum wage. I m 17. I m a senior at City University School. My plan is to go to
college and major in accounting. I live with both of my parents and my sister. I grew up around
violence, gangs, drugs, and things of that nature. Memphis is a pretty crazy place. Anyways, I
completed a couple of challenges. These challenges just popped in my brain.
In the beginning of middle school, I was a chubby kid. I had a hard time my first in middle school.
Girls didn t like me and I didn t have a lot of friends. A lot of people used to make fun of me. One
of the coaches asked me to play football, so I went to the doctor and got a physical. I m glad ...

a while I stopped doing sit ups because they got boring. I just started to work on my arms, my
back, and my chest. My muscle tone started to show more by the end of the summer before the
11th grade. My 11th grade year, I did push at least 120 200 push ups almost every day. Then I
heard that if you want to gain muscle, you have to eat bigger food portions. After I heard that, I
got my appetite back. I ran on the treadmill and lifted weights every now and then. I was just
focused on gaining muscle. After I while, I received a job. I started to get lazy. I was just
keeping up with my grades and going to work. I would only do push ups on my off days and I
wouldn t do that many. I just did enough for me to keep my tone. If you read this whole statement,

The Influence Of Johannes Brahms

MHO Essay
31 August 2014
Essay Question: What was an influence for Brahms Composition? Examine.
Johannes Brahms was one of the 19th century s greatest composers and one of the leading
musicians of the Romantic era. Brahms, together with Ludwig Van Beethovenand Johann Sebastian
Bach, was considered one of the Three B s of German music. This shows Brahms significance in
German music, as he is one of the symbols of German music. Not only did Brahms compose
German music, but he also composed Hungarian music. This is thought provoking because it was
unusual for a German to compose Hungarian music as well. This essay will be discussing what
made Brahms compose Hungarian gypsy music. Also, Zigeunerlieder Op.103, one of Brahms
pieces that contain the Hungarian gypsy element will be examined.
Born on the 7th of May 1833 in Hamburg, Johannes Brahms was the second child born into the
Lutheran family. He spent most of his professional life in Vienna, Austria. Not only did he compose
works such as symphonies, concerti, chamber music, piano works, ... Show more content on

In 1848, hundreds of Hungarians crowed the streets of his place of birth, Hamburg, to take refuge
from the Hungarian revolution that was taking place in their homeland. Many of them were gypsy
musicians. The gypsy musicians often played Hungarian music that was popular and they played it
however they wanted, in their own ways. They usually played in bands, and most gypsy bands had
an interesting combination of instruments, two violins, a double bass, and the cimbalom, a large
Hungarian dulcimer. Interestingly at times, the bands would add in a clarinet or another woodwind
instrument, which would enrich and add to the radiant and vibrant music. (C.A. Bell and D. Bell

When thinking about the greatest quarterback of all time, someone may think of Peyton Manning

brought up more frequently as time goes on. This dynasty team from New England has had
continued success over the past 15 years and even had that almost magical season in 2007. With all
this success, two people are the main focus of it, Tom Bradyand Bill Belichick. Now, while Bill
Belichick does the work from the sideline, the main focus is on Brady and whether or not he

Mosaic CovenantAnd The Noahic Covenant, And The New...
God created the universe with absolute perfection. However, with the downfall of humanity
stemming from Original Sin, the Fallen spiraled its effects on mankind that carries forth today. As a
result, many catastrophic events have been recorded in the Bible, which are known as historical
facts to Christians. Because Godis a loving and merciful God, He established the Noahic Covenant,
Abrahamic Covenant, Mosaic Covenant, Davidic Covenant, and the New Covenant that all relate
and expand with each other and provides hope for Jews and Christians in the past, today, and future.
After God washed the earth of evil by flood (Genesis 5:32 10:1), He created the Noahic Covenant
between Noah and his descendants. With accurate clarification to the Noahic Covenant, God
makes an unconditional promise to Noah and all descendants that He will never flood the earth
again and seals His vow with a rainbow across the clouds. Based on the unconditional promise
made, God had no expectations of Noah and his descendants (Genesis 9). Why did God feel the
need to generate a bond with Noah and his descendants? His compassion and mercy glorifies
through His works and vows. Busenitz highlights God s forgiveness stating, In the Noahic
Covenant, God showed His gracious mercy toward all mankind, both redeemed and unredeemed,
causing it to rain on the just and the unjust and assuring the ongoing, uninterrupted cycle of seasons
(Busenitz, page 10, 1999). Furthermore, one can also grasp that God remains

Karen Dill, author of Violent rap lyrics make listeners more accepting of violence , states: Radio
personality Don Imus referred to a college women s basketball team as nappy headed ho s . Dill
also argues, ... many responded that the racist and sexist language was acceptable because the
type of language is used by minorities in rap music . Rap music has made their own image of
what women are in their eyes and this has caused others to treat females a certain way. Women
have always been portrayed as weak, feisty, helpless, property, and more. Females start to believe
this about themselves having low self esteem, not wanting to be in relationships, and thinking they

The League Of Nations And The Failures Of The United Nations
The United Nations is an organisation which was set up in 1945 to replace the League of Nations.
The organisation has established a charter which states the core beliefs and purposes for the UN are
global world peace and security, human rights, disarmament, humanitarian and health crisis and
sustainable development. However, this organisation has failed its intentions. The United Nationsis
corrupted due to it s elitist tendencies with the 5 permanent power veto rule at the Security
Council rendering any possible actions of good to be stopped by the selfish acts of states
deemed more powerful. This essay will state the failures of the United Nations, the structure and
history of the UN which explains why this organisation is a facade for peace. The United
Nations was set up in 1945 by the former president of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt.
The organisation began originally with only 51 member states however it now grown to 193,
although some may see this as an increase in power it has not resulted in greater influence. The
United Nations predecessor was the League of Nations, this organisation failed due to its passive
actions towards war mongers such as Hitler and questionable altruism towards states which had a
greater influence globally seen in both the Abyssinian crisis of 1935 and the Manchurian crisis in
1931. The UN was set up with a similar peacekeepingideology of the League of Nations. Sadly, just

The Second Epoch ( 1980 )
The Second Epoch (1980 2000s) In the second epoch, the emphasis shifted from regulations to
coordinating the objectives of the environment with other social and economic priorities, with more
attention to human health effects, and to carrying out the environmental policies that were on
books, more resourcefully. In a couple of instances, new goals were formed which went beyond the
former goals, for example, including dangerous materials and hazardous waste to the environmental
policy agenda, the additionally demanding provisions of the Clean Air Act of 1990, and the more
prominent acknowledgment of the international and worldwide implications of pollution. However,
the pace of enactment and the coverage of sources of pollution which were newly identified slowed
considerably in comparison with the first epoch. What changed most particularly was confidence in
the philosophy of regulation and firm control by the government.4 It turned out to be clear that
legislation alone, could neither direct nor police all organizations and groups all over the country,
nor could it bear all the obligation regarding empowering creative reactions to environmental issues.
This was not just a response to the growing involvement of the government. Underlying the second
epoch was the acknowledgment that considerable advancement had been accomplished in lessening
harmful environmental discharges and upgrading protection of resources, in policy if not generally
in deed. After over 10 years of

Behavior Modification Program Analysis
The first important parts of developing a behavior modification program is to describe the person s
behavior. This is important in order to understand the behavior that needs to be changed
(Kuhlenschmidt, n.d.). For instance, if the unreasonable bad behavior that needs to be changed, the
frequency and time of its usual occurrence need to be determined. The aspects that may possibly
trigger that bad behavior must also be acknowledged. The next important part is to decide that
behavioral change is needed. Making a decision to take the behavior modification program requires
a strong level of commitment (Kuhlenschmidt, n.d.). Otherwise, developing the program will make
no sense. Another important part of the process is the identification of potential intervention
strategies. Depending on the type of target behavior, these strategies may range from positive or
negative... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, evaluation is an important part of developing a behavior modification program. The
effectiveness of the program cannot be determined without evaluating the behavior and conducting
an assessment about the changes that took place. This can be done by collecting data, graphing the
results, and making conclusions in order to see if there is a need to modify the chosen intervention
(Kuhlenschmidt, n.d.). Without careful evaluation, it will be impossible to determine whether the
program causes the desired behavioral change. The behavior I want to change is the unhealthy

Implementing A Certified Electronic Health Record System
Introduction Meaningful use is the process of implementing a certified electronic health record
system in a healthcare organization that is able to improve patients safety, to ensure that their data
and the information is secure and private. Meaningful use also ensures that healthcare organizations
improve patients outcomes as well as the population on a whole. It allows patients to be more

address the progress of majority of the health system on meaningful regulation and the barriers
successful use.
Meaningful Use Regulation It is important to understand that, meaningful use regulation established
objectives that healthcare organizations such as hospitals and other healthcare facilities have to
meet in order to be qualified for the center for Medicare and Medicaid services. Many healthcare
organizations are making progress when it comes to meaningful regulations. There was a recent
survey that shows that a lot of healthcare organization began using some type of electronic health
record so as to be able to input patients, data, information, allows healthcare providers to establish
clinical notes and to be able to write prescription and transfer patients information from one provider
to another (Lopez, 2014). Another way healthcare organizations such as hospital are meeting the
meaningful use regulations is the implementation of the epic system. Many hospitals are now

Domestic Violence Affects Children s Development
Introduction
Thesis: Domestic violence can negatively affect children s development. (make more persuasive)
Children all around the world witness domestic violence. Whether it s between parents, partners or
even the elder. Does the parents, partners, or elder realize the affects that happen to their children?
Witnessing domestic violence, children become fearful and anxious. They become this way
because they never know when the next event may happen, fearing for themselves, mom or dad,
and siblings. Also becoming worthless and powerless, feeling the need to keep their family a
secret and/or not being able to talk to their own family about the abuse. Sometimes they feel like
they are the reason why there is domestic violence in their home. If they look fine to you or others
in the world that don t know about their family, they truly may not be fine at all inside. As reading
it doesn t seem that the children are being hit in any of the domestic violence, but the parent that is
being hit from their partner fear for the child/children. Domestic violence, can negatively affect
children s development. (try to make more persuasive)
General information about domestic violence

Televisions were present in 90% of homes and watching television was a hobby that nearly half the
population was addicted to it. Before its arrival in 1956, many people had to travel out to a cinema
or a theatre and seek their own source of entertainment. Whereas television was available to them
for free. Within a few years, as cheap TVs entered many more homes and soon everyone was

At the same time, being on time may influence substantially interpersonal relations and it is a
perfect characteristic of an individual. In this respect it should be said that if a person is late, it
is a bit irritating, but if he/she is late regularly, than it is quite a disturbing fact. On the one hand,
it proves that this person do not really respect those people who are waiting for him/her. On the
other hand, it proves that this person is absolutely irresponsible because being late means that
the person is unable to do his/her duties well. In contrast, being on time proves that the person is
highly responsible and is ready to fulfill his/her duty without delay. Such characteristics of an
individual are particularly important in army. At any rate, I, in person, know that I cannot be
late because I cannot be late for half an hour or even less late and just excuse myself and
continue my work. In fact, I am conscious of the fact that even a minute of delay will lead to the
failure of the entire operation that, in the military is absolutely unacceptable. It seems to be
obvious that the consequences of the lack of punctuality may lead to disastrous effects in my
work. But I can definitely say that I will lose my job and this will be not the worst outcome of my
lack of punctuality, because in the army the schedule is everything. However, even in the civilian

Myth as a semiological system in August Wilson s
Gem of the Ocean, Joe Turner s Come and Gone and The Piano Lesson
Abstract
Myths are one of the most important elements included in the history of not only African American
lives but also the lives of each and every one of us. Myths are inevitable human resources at times
when no other idea justifies our being. As Barthes posits, for it is human history which converts
reality into speech, and it alone rules the life and the death of mythical language. Ancient or not,
mythology can only have an historical foundation, for myth is a type of speech chosen by history: it
cannot possibly evolve from the nature of things. This study looks into the significance of Myths
and their determining roles as semiological systems in August Wilsons dramatic twentieth century
cycle plays; Gem of the Ocean, Joe Turner s Come and Gone and The Piano Lesson. In these
plays, myths take the forms of individuals, rituals and even ancestral objects. It can be observed
that each one of these elements performs the most important role in conveying the significance of
the African American psyche and delicately portrays the eminent influence of ancestral
backgrounds in shaping the lives of each character. The works of scholars such as Roland Barthes,
Henry Gates, as well as many more, have been employed to better grasp this matter. Key words:
Myth, semiological system, African American psyche, mythical language, ritual

Description Of A Flight Recorder
1. Introduction It is very difficult, when an accident occurs during a flight to determine
precisely what happened for several reasons: Most of the time, during a flight, an aircraft is
not in an environment where people cannot testimony what they saw (over water, high in the
sky ...) When the aircraft crashes, it is often in an area difficult to access (open sea, on a
mountain, ...) When the aircraft is ready to be examined, after being recovered from a
difficult crash area or after a potential fire has been extinguished, the pieces are frequently
severely damaged. To be able to retrace what happened during the last moments of the flight of
the aircraft, before an accident or incident, a flight recorder has been developed. The information
collected by this flight recorder can help the investigation teams to understand what happened
even when the aircraft is badly damaged or even impossible to use to find answers. But
developing a flight recorder is not simple precisely because it has to withstand a severe accident.
When an extreme fire starts after a crash for example, the flight recorder has to stay in good
conditions until it is recovered by someone on the crash site. Therefore, regulations, certifications
and standards have been made to ensure that this element in the aircraft has all the required
properties. Nowadays, the flight recorder has an increasing role to play in investigations of
accidents because of the number of passengers that can be carried on a

Loss Of Chance Is An Alternative Cause Of Action
Loss of chance is identified as an alternative cause of action , particularly, in cases of medical
negligence. In recent cases, where actions based on causation have failed, it has succeeded. The
onus lies on the plaintiff to prove negligence by the defendant and loss of a chance of a better
outcome. However, a plaintiff cannot establish that the defendant s negligenceprobably caused their
injury. The concept of loss of chance is defined as a doctrine that permits the recovery of damages
upon destruction or reduction of prospects to ultimately achieve a more favorable outcome. In the
case of Rufo v Hosking, the court found that In order to recover damages for the loss of a chance
of a better outcome, the plaintiff is required to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, provided negligence is found, more than a one percent (1%) chance of a better
outcome needs to be proven by a plaintiff in order to be awarded damages. However, the
quantification of damages is related to the quantification of the loss of chance in relation to the
injury. The value of the injury could be a small or a large fraction of the amount.
Most recently courts have established the loss of chance doctrine as an alternative or additional
cause of action in medical negligence litigation. Although loss of chance had earlier been
recognised in the High Court of Australia as an suitable cause of action in non medical cases of
negligence as well, in the matter of Sellars v Adelaide Petroleum NL, and had been considered
but not implemented in the medical cases of Chappel v Hart, and Naxakis v Western General
Hospital, it was a major factor in the New South Wales medical case of Rufo v Hosking.
Subsequently, the loss of chance has been the basis of several other successful cases of negligence
against doctors or health authorities in New South Wales, including Halverson v Dobler, State of
New South Wales v Burton, and Tabet v Mansour. It was also successful in the matter of Gavalas v
Singh.
In contrast, the concept of loss of chance was rejected in the case of Gregg v Scott, and has not yet
been reconsidered by the High Court. Despite the fact that this case has no authority in Australia, the

A Comparison of Two Commencement Speeches Essay
Graduating from school is only one of the essential tools for a young person to have a successful
life. A person endures many long years of schooling, and then the graduation day finally arrives.
That special day is one of the most momentous days in a young student s life. Happiness and
sadness are the two emotions a person will feel on that special day. A student will experience
happiness because of a significant milestone that was completed in the student s life. The sad
emotions will arise because of a terrifying new chapter in the book of life that is about to begin.

Next, both of the speakers incorporate their fame to try and get a meaningful message across to
the young people before going out into the real world. Being famous does not mean that you are
a perfect person without flaws, and fame takes hard work and dedication. Whitford talks about
why in the world, the college would opt instead for a glorified circus clown from a television
show (1). By poking fun at himself and not acting superior, he is letting the audience know that
everyone is equal. Whitford establishes a common ground with the students, and it makes the
students feel comfortable listening to his words and advice. Whitford talks about how he only
has two areas of expertise reproduction and acting (2). That means that all people have an area
in their lives where they can be considered an expert. The Dalai Lama expresses to the students
that he will try and speak directly through broken English (1). Immediately that tells the
graduating class that the Dalai Lama is not perfect, and he has to work hard for his place in
society. His English was not perfect, but he essentially told the students with courage anything is
possible. Some people look up to famous people, but both speakers try and establish themselves as
ordinary people trying to find success in their lives. Incorporating their faults into the speeches lets
the graduates know that it takes dedication and hard work to achieve success. Even imperfect
people can have what it takes to find a job that

Escapism in Children s Literature
Children s literature can take many forms, from far fetching science fiction to spell binding who
done it mysteries. One of the most popular ideas presented in these various forms is that of
escapism. The characters in these stories explore quite complex social issues in ways that are less
confrontational then realism. One might consider why escape is such a central theme; as a child
there are numerous benefits to fantasy, it allows readers to experiment with different views of the
world and takes hypothetical situations and invites them to make connections between this fictive
scenario and their own reality. John Stephens an English professor at Macquarie University has said
Fantasy writing operates through metaphor so that the unfamiliar is used to stand in for, or
comment upon, the familiar.
The use of metaphor in Fantasy makes it more open to different readings and meanings. Take
J.M. Barrie s fantasy novel Alice s Adventures in Wonderland as an example. Barrie uses his story
to transport Alice to an unknown world full of backwards words and talking animals. This allows
Alice to escape the boredom of picture less books and adult conversations that were beginning to
consume her. Similar in theory is Neil Gaiman s style of writing. Gaiman has produced a number of
Victorian influenced fantasy novels for children, including Coraline. Coraline, like Alice centers on
a young girl entering another world.
Escape can be seem in many books for children but one story in

investment, the Communist Party itself has been required to support the return of tens of thousands
of Vietnamese who had fled Vietnam during the Vietnam War era but who now want to return home

Western customs of these returnees and may see them as a threat, the goal is to create economic
prosperity and their education and experience abroad has brought an economic benefit to the

As part of its modernization plans, the Communist Party is improving Vietnam s infrastructure

The Constructivist View Of Learning
In any classroom, the constructivist view of learning can point towards a number of different
teaching methods. The constructivist view usually means encouraging students to use active
techniques such as experiments, real world problem solving, to create more knowledge for
themselves and then for the students to reflect and talk about what they did and how their
understanding changed. (Educational Broadcasting Corporation, 2004). This view of learninggoes
hand in hand with an agriculture educational classroom that bases their curriculum around the FFA
program and the three circle model: instruction, supervised agricultural experience and student
leadership organizations. The FFA motto is Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live,
Living to Serve. (National FFA Organization , 2014)
Constructivism refers to the idea that learners construct knowledge for themselves and that each
learner individually and socially construct meaning as he or she learns. In the views of
constructivism, there is no such thing as knowledge independent of the knower, but only
knowledge that the student constructs for themselves as they learn. According the constructivist
theory, learning is not understanding the true nature of things, nor is it remembering dimly
perceived perfect ideas perfect ideas, but rather a personal and social construction of meaning out
of the bewildering array of sensations which have no order or structure besides the explanations
which educators fabricate

Dystopian Fiction?
The definition of Dystopia is an imaginary place where the inhabitants are exploited and control is
maintained through oppression. Both The Scarlet Letter and The Handmaid s Tale reflect
characteristics of a dystopian novel. A dystopian novel is usually fictional and futuristic to the time
in which it was written. The characters are made to worship a concept or figure as a way of
control. Characters are subject to an irrational fear of what is outside their environment and the
issues raised in the novel are commentaries on contemporary society at the time.

Questions On Long Tail Keywords Long Essay
Long tail keywords Long tail keywords are those three and four keyword phrases which are very,
very specific to whatever you are selling. You see, whenever a customer uses a highly specific
search phrase, they tend to be looking for exactly what they are actually going to buy. In
virtually every case, such very specific searches are far more likely to convert to sales than
general generic searches that tend to be geared more toward the type of research that consumers
typically do prior to making a buying decision. To help illustrate this phenomenon, let s take a look
at the typical step by step buying path that a customer travels on the way to a making a purchase.
1.Consumer becomes aware of a product. 2.Consumer seeks information about that product in
preparation for possible purchase. 3.Consumer evaluates alternatives to product (features, pricing,
etc...). 4.Consumer makes their purchase decision. 5.Consumer pulls out their credit card and
completes the transaction. 6.Consumer then evaluates the product after buying it and decides if
they want to keep or return it. Using the above six step path to a purchase as our model, you can
probably already see that you want to target the consumer who is somewhere around step four...
Consumer makes their purchase decision. Because once they have made their decision to buy
something, that s when they start using very specific search phrases to seek out their target
purchase. Highly specific multi word phrases tend to be far

Reluctant Fundamentalist
US immigration is a major component of The Reluctant Fundamentalist, and contributes greatly
to the plot as well. Hamid s use of US immigration affects the plot of the story as it connects to
the theme of identity, through the use of ashamed tone as well as precise diction. First of all, the
use of ashamed tone demonstrates how US immigration is associated with the theme of identity.
For example, as Changez rides in a limousine with his colleagues, he spots a Filipino driver:
There was an undisguised hostility in his expression; I had no idea why ... But his dislike was so
obvious, so intimate, that it got under my skin. I stared back at him, getting angry at myself. (67).

For instance, as Changez arrives at Manila with Underwood Samson, he states: Perhaps it was
for this reason that I did something in Manila I had never done before: I attempted to act and
speak, as much as my dignity would permit, more like an American. Even though Changez is a
US immigrant, it is suggested that he still acted in a Pakistani behavior, as he states how he had
never specifically acted in the stereotypical American way. Additionally, the fact that Changez
attempts to act like an American demonstrates how his identity isn t just American, but also
Pakistani as well. This defines the theme of identity, as Changez feels troubled and confused
about where he really is from, and where his loyalties lie. Furthermore, Changez states how at
Manila, he learned to answer, when asked where [he] was from, that [he] was from New York.
(65). Changez stating how he was specifically from New York shows how he identifies the place
as home, similar to his real home in Pakistan. It is shown through previous chapters that New York
contains many parts of Pakistani culture, explaining why Changez relates to New York in such a
cheerful and excited tone. Even so, while many relate the US and New York as identical, Changez
separates the two places, stating how America represents the egotistical, condescending behavior
that it expresses on others. Changez resorting

This film, from 1979 was directed by Francis Ford Coppula and starred Martin Sheen (Capt.

Coppula uses psychological horror to illustrate the barrier between Willard s world and Kurtz s
world as a means of horror in the viewer s mind. The second type of horror is gore, in which a
painful experience is relayed to the viewer. Gore comes to life in films by using special effects
to have the viewer empathize with the characters. The best example of this in Apocalypse Now
is when the river boat captain is speared through the chest gruesomely. He then attempts to
impale Willard, by him towards him and using the same blood soaked spear still in him, before
he inevitably dies. When you see the captain get speared through his chest you feel sympathy for
his suffering and you feel his anger when he tries to kill Willard. At the same time, the viewer
feels the desperation of Willard as he fends for his own life. Coppula uses gore horror here to
create the element of empathy and fear for both the Captain, who dies for what is really Willard
s war, and for Willard, who inadvertently has killed the Captain by putting him in this situation.
The surprise horror is created through a dramatic presentation of events or a sudden shocker. By
timing a motion or noise correctly the viewer experiences the danger themselves of a situation.
The scene that best uses surprise horror in the film is when Willard and the character Chief are in
the jungle looking for mangos. The two are suddenly attacked by a tiger from out of

Challenges Faced By Pakistan As An Impoverished Nation And...
Issues of unstable governance are directly related to the difficulties confronted by developing
nations (BU 2014). The government plays a crucial role in uplifting a country and its development.
It can achieve this by managing the country and its problems in a decently proficient manner, taking

This capstone course assisted in connecting all the material I have learned thus far in the
program as well as helped me to identify what skills and knowledge I need to continue working

and be conscious of how I describe my clients when presenting them to others. It can be a habit to

The War Was Ended As An Armistice Of The Great War
On the 18th of November 1918, the guns fell silent, the Great War was ended as an Armistice was
signed with Germany. Two months later in January 1919, delegates from all over the world came
to Paris to conclude the peace settlement that would end the war. Six months of intense discussions
and debates ended up on the signing of Treaty of Versailles. Three major figures dominated the
peace making, with the less noticeable presence of a forth one, that are namely: the American
president Wilson, the French Prime Minister Clemenceau, and the British Prime Minister Lloyd
Georges and the passive Italy personified by the Prime Minister Orlando. Those peacemakers are
seen by many (scholars, historians, politics...) as injudicious and dogmatic. They were also
perceived as vindictive with respect to the fate they have reserved to Germany. But on the other
hand many historians and scholars revisited the series of events that took place at Paris in 1919
and challenge the view that this peace was a truncated one. These authors argue that the Peace
conference was a real attempt to reshape the international system with an innovative concept
breaking with the old balance of power that presided over Europe s destiny for over a century. The
peacemakers faced dilemmas that still hold a grip on the world today (the ethnic nationalism issue).

personality and most of all Mrs. Kinnian. First of all, Algernon, the mouse, dies and Charlie is
very depressed. This mouse is very smart. Charlie is devastated when Algernon dies and over
time he slowly loses his intelligence. This only happens because the mouse had the same
operation as Charlie. He was so depressed because that is really the only thing he has bonded
with and now it was gone. At the end of the story Charlie says, P.P.S. Please if you get a chanse

like it s her fault he is depressed. She goes to his house and he tells her to go away and that he

and if it wasn t for her he would have never had to go through this. I got up the nerve to ask Miss.

Reflection For The Nutritional Value Of A Healthy Life
Food is such an important component of a healthy life. Variety and balance in one s diet is a key
component for a healthy lifestyle and nutrition. With the completion of my 3 day food analysis,
I noticed a low caloric intake approximately 500 calories lower than my basal metabolic rate. The
basal metabolic rate is the amount of energy need for your body to function, based on your age,
activity level, and the nutritional value of the foods you consume. In increase my overall caloric
intake, I added granola to my yogurt in the mornings but I failed to add more quinoa and avocado
to my diet. Upon analyzing my source of calories based on the dietary reference intakes, my
consumption of protein, carbohydrates, and fats all fell in medium... Show more content on

In order to maintain bone health, vitamin D helps regulate the use of calcium and phosphorus
levels. In the remodeling of bone osteoclats, break down old bone and osteoblasts then come in
and lay down a new bone matrix, which increases the bone s density. Calcium and phosphorus
attach to newly formed bone matrix made of osteocalcin, which is produced with the aid of
vitamin D and vitamin K. The formation of hydroxyappitie, only possible with vitamin D, gives
strength and structured to bones. With little intake of vitamin D, the absorption of calcium and
phosphorus level significantly lowers in the small intestine. As a result, bone s lack necessary
amounts of calcium, causing them to become brittle. Poor, brittle bones then leads to
osteoporosis, which begins around the age of 40 due to the breakdown of bone by osteoclasts
exceeding the building process of bone by osteoblasts. The highest bone build up possible is
during the first 30 years of one s life, therefore being only 20, I need to maintain proper vitamin D
levels in order to have the highest absorption of calcium and phosphorus from my daily food
consumption (Blake pg. 240 242, 300 305). Also as a female, I have a higher chance of
developing osteoporosis due to the loss of estrogen after I finish menopause. According to my
week nutritional analysis, I had the ideal amount of calcium and phosphorus in my diet. As a result,
I am less worried about developing

The Pros And Cons Of Granite Countertops
Quartz CountertopQuartz vs granite countertops, it s the popular debate among those remodeling
their kitchens. While both have their pros and cons, the decision is a personal one depending on
your preferences. Granite countertops have received more popularity especially in recent years
thanks to home improvement TV shows and magazines. But that doesn t make it better than quartz.
There are pros and cons to both types of countertops, making the decision a personal one,
depending on what the needs for your kitchen are. Every homeowner has an idea of what they
would like their kitchen to look like. While some homeowners have always dreamed of having
luxurious granitecountertops, after reading about the pros and cons of each type, their mind might...

This fact alone has made them one of the most popular counter types in high end homes as well as
on home improvement TV shows and magazines. Associated with elegance and sophistication,
granite countertops carry a certain stigma of glamour with them.Heat resistant Since granite is
formed from extreme heat underneath the earth, it is not affected by the heat of a hot pan. Studies
have even shown that lighting a fire directly underneath granite does not cause it to melt. However,
it should be noted that professionals still recommend using something between the countertop and
anything hot.Scratch resistant Granite is one of the most scratch resistant materials. Those that
have tested the resistance of granite countertops to scratches have found that the counter actually
dulled their carving knife. It is always recommended to use a cutting board when cutting on
granite.Adds resale value to your home Because of the long lasting nature of granite as well as its
natural beauty, granite countertops adds a touch of sophistication for your home, allowing you to
ask more for it than comparables in your

Infanticide Is The Killing Of An Infant
This paper discusses whether it is ever permissible to commit infanticide or not. Infanticide is the
killing of an infant or the practice of killing newborn infants. It is a difficult subject to discuss since
infanticide seems morally repugnant at first glimpse, though it becomes increasingly complicated
as we reflect on particular nuances in real world cases.
ROADMAP:
I argue that it is impermissible to commit infanticide under any circumstance since committing
murder of a person under any circumstance is wrong. Infanticide in simple words is the murder of a
newborn infant. There is no difference between killing a newborn and a fully grown adult. Both of
them can be defined as persons since they both possess a human essence that makes ... Show more

Hence, fully grown adults differ from infants due to the fact that they value life and have the
capacity to retain their memories and personal identity. They can engage in rational thought and
appreciate their existence. Infants aren t even capable of grasping their existence, leave alone any
memories. Hence, they shouldn t even be considered to be persons.
However, this objection isn t valid since eventually even infants will develop the capability to think,
retain memories and value life since abilities are developmental in nature. Also, if rationality and
self awareness define personhood and determine the moral significance of persons, then there are
many fully grown adults who can be disqualified as persons, for example an adult under coma.
According to this argument, since comatose patients are unconscious and can t rationally think at
the time, killing them would be permissible too.
ARGUMENT
I argue that infanticide is impermissible under any circumstance. I will support my stance by
arguing against Peter Singer s argument that supports the infanticide of disabled infants. In Taking
Life: Humans, Singer states that if we can morally kill a disabled fetus that has no self
consciousness, it follows that we can morally kill a disabled infant that has no self consciousness.
Take note that Singer argues in favor of committing infanticide of only disabled infants if it serves
the interests of the parents. He does not argue that it is right to

Barbaric Nomads Analysis
There are many ancient sources stating that the Huns themselves were barbaric nomads. Ammianus
Marcellinus, a Roman writer states in the History of Rome, that The nation of the Huns surpasses
all other barbarians in wildness of life... They fight in no regular order of battle... It must be owned
that they are the most terrible of warriors because they fight at a distance with missile weapons
having sharpened bones admirably fastened to the shaft. When in close combat with swords, they
fight without regard to their own safety . Marcellinus sees how the Hunsfighting style is
completely different to that of the Romans and therefore finds it to be extremely terrible. The
exaggerated language and bias of this piece is clear and as a Roman writer,... Show more content on

For example, Jordanes, a 6th Century Roman bureaucrat, describes how [Attila] was indeed a
lover of war, yet restrained in action; mighty in counsel, gracious to suppliants, and lenient to
those who were once received under his protection . Furthermore, Attila refused to be seduced by
wealth as Priscus explains how Attila ate nothing but meat on a wooden trencher... his cup was of
wood, while to the guests were given goblets of gold and silver. His dress, too, was quite simple,
affecting only to be clean. The sword he carried at his side, the latchets of his Scythian shoes, and
the bridle of his horse were not adorned, like those of the other Scythians, with gold or gems or
anything costly . Both of these accounts document how humble Attila could be, Huns valued gold,
and would often brag about their wealth, but, as these two accounts document, Attila acted
modestly about his wealth. Furthermore, Priscus observed Attila with his son and noted a
tenderness, as he wrote: He drew him close... and gazed at him with gentle eyes . As Roman writers
Priscus and Jordanes gain nothing by writing positively about Attila, and therefore we can assume
that these accounts are fairly

The rational for this selection is that quasi experimental designs are used to determine the effects of an intervention, such as diabetes group office visits on participants receiving and not receiving this intervention (Grove, Burns, Gray, 2013). Even though convenience sampling is known to be a weak method of sampling due to its lack of bias control, it can work significantly well when knowledge and care is used to perform a study (Grove, Burns, Gray, 2013). Extraneous Variables Extraneous variables are variables that are not desired by the researcher, but they influence the relationship of the study variables (Dictionary of Nursing Theory and Research, 2010). In order to properly interpret study results, the goal of the research design is to control these variables (Dictionary of Nursing Theory and Research, 2010). A study environment that is not controlled introduces extraneous variables, so it is important to have an environment that is equal to all participants (Grove, Burns, Gray, 2013). An example of an extraneous variable in this study would be previous diabetes knowledge, because level of education is an important extraneous variable (Grove, Burns, Gray, 2013). It would be ideal if all participants had the same education level. An ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The war destroyed the plantations and crops thus causing many to starve to death while others became homeless. The reconstruction became the only hope for the people. Radical reconstruction began in 1867, which enabled the freed black men to have a voice in the government. Before the civil war, the Southern state had enacted laws that suppressed all African American. This fact angered many people from the North who were seeking to end slavery. Therefore, during the reconstruction era, the black people wanted their voices to be heard. The restoration process began with small plans that were put forward by President Lincoln as well as President Johnson. The two president s main aim was to combine the confederacy with the unions (Flanagan). This fact was called the presidential reconstruction. The Republicans were put into office to ensure that the freed people s rights were protected as well as to make sure that America was united. The civil rights act was passed and the southern state began to follow the rule. The Congress passed the Ku Klux Klan Act that would ensure that the federal authorities could be able to protect the freed citizens. Because Godis a loving and merciful God, He established the Noahic Covenant, Abrahamic Covenant, Mosaic Covenant, Davidic Covenant, and the New Covenant that all relate and expand with each other and provides hope for Jews and Christians in the past, today, and future. Myth as a semiological system in August Wilson s Gem of the Ocean, Joe Turner s Come and Gone and The Piano Lesson Abstract Myths are one of the most important elements included in the history of not only African American lives but also the lives of each and every one of us. Myths are inevitable human resources at times when no other idea justifies our being. As Barthes posits, for it is human history which converts reality into speech, and it alone rules the life and the death of mythical language. Ancient or not, mythology can only have an historical foundation, for myth is a type of speech chosen by history: it cannot possibly evolve from the nature of things. This study looks into the significance of Myths and their determining roles as semiological systems in August Wilsons dramatic twentieth century cycle plays; Gem of the Ocean, Joe Turner s Come and Gone and The Piano Lesson. In these plays, myths take the forms of individuals, rituals and even ancestral objects. It can be observed that each one of these elements performs the most important role in conveying the significance of the African American psyche and delicately portrays the eminent influence of ancestral backgrounds in shaping the lives of each character. The works of scholars such as Roland Barthes, Henry Gates, as well as many more, have been employed to better grasp this matter. • 25. Description Of A Flight Recorder 1. Introduction It is very difficult, when an accident occurs during a flight to determine precisely what happened for several reasons: Most of the time, during a flight, an aircraft is not in an environment where people cannot testimony what they saw (over water, high in the sky ...) When the aircraft crashes, it is often in an area difficult to access (open sea, on a mountain, ...) When the aircraft is ready to be examined, after being recovered from a difficult crash area or after a potential fire has been extinguished, the pieces are frequently severely damaged. To be able to retrace what happened during the last moments of the flight of the aircraft, before an accident or incident, a flight recorder has been developed. The information collected by this flight recorder can help the investigation teams to understand what happened even when the aircraft is badly damaged or even impossible to use to find answers. But developing a flight recorder is not simple precisely because it has to withstand a severe accident. When an extreme fire starts after a crash for example, the flight recorder has to stay in good conditions until it is recovered by someone on the crash site. Therefore, regulations, certifications and standards have been made to ensure that this element in the aircraft has all the required properties. Nowadays, the flight recorder has an increasing role to play in investigations of accidents because of the number of passengers that can be carried on a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In recent cases, where actions based on causation have failed, it has succeeded. The onus lies on the plaintiff to prove negligence by the defendant and loss of a chance of a better outcome. However, a plaintiff cannot establish that the defendant s negligenceprobably caused their injury. The concept of loss of chance is defined as a doctrine that permits the recovery of damages upon destruction or reduction of prospects to ultimately achieve a more favorable outcome. Consequently, provided negligence is found, more than a one percent (1%) chance of a better outcome needs to be proven by a plaintiff in order to be awarded damages. Most recently courts have established the loss of chance doctrine as an alternative or additional cause of action in medical negligence litigation. Although loss of chance had earlier been recognised in the High Court of Australia as an suitable cause of action in non medical cases of negligence as well, in the matter of Sellars v Adelaide Petroleum NL, and had been considered but not implemented in the medical cases of Chappel v Hart, and Naxakis v Western General Hospital, it was a major factor in the New South Wales medical case of Rufo v Hosking. Subsequently, the loss of chance has been the basis of several other successful cases of negligence against doctors or health authorities in New South Wales, including Halverson v Dobler, State of New South Wales v Burton, and Tabet v Mansour. Happiness and sadness are the two emotions a person will feel on that special day. A student will experience happiness because of a significant milestone that was completed in the student s life. Being famous does not mean that you are a perfect person without flaws, and fame takes hard work and dedication. Whitford talks about why in the world, the college would opt instead for a glorified circus clown from a television show (1). By poking fun at himself and not acting superior, he is letting the audience know that everyone is equal. Whitford establishes a common ground with the students, and it makes the students feel comfortable listening to his words and advice. Whitford talks about how he only has two areas of expertise reproduction and acting (2). That means that all people have an area in their lives where they can be considered an expert. The Dalai Lama expresses to the students that he will try and speak directly through broken English (1). Immediately that tells the graduating class that the Dalai Lama is not perfect, and he has to work hard for his place in society. His English was not perfect, but he essentially told the students with courage anything is possible. Some people look up to famous people, but both speakers try and establish themselves as ordinary people trying to find success in their lives. • 29. Escapism in Children s Literature Children s literature can take many forms, from far fetching science fiction to spell binding who done it mysteries. One of the most popular ideas presented in these various forms is that of escapism. The characters in these stories explore quite complex social issues in ways that are less confrontational then realism. One might consider why escape is such a central theme; as a child there are numerous benefits to fantasy, it allows readers to experiment with different views of the world and takes hypothetical situations and invites them to make connections between this fictive scenario and their own reality. John Stephens an English professor at Macquarie University has said Fantasy writing operates through metaphor so that the unfamiliar is used to stand in for, or comment upon, the familiar. The use of metaphor in Fantasy makes it more open to different readings and meanings. Take J.M. Barrie s fantasy novel Alice s Adventures in Wonderland as an example. Barrie uses his story to transport Alice to an unknown world full of backwards words and talking animals. This allows Alice to escape the boredom of picture less books and adult conversations that were beginning to consume her. Similar in theory is Neil Gaiman s style of writing. Gaiman has produced a number of Victorian influenced fantasy novels for children, including Coraline. Coraline, like Alice centers on a young girl entering another world. The constructivist view usually means encouraging students to use active techniques such as experiments, real world problem solving, to create more knowledge for themselves and then for the students to reflect and talk about what they did and how their understanding changed. (Educational Broadcasting Corporation, 2004). This view of learninggoes hand in hand with an agriculture educational classroom that bases their curriculum around the FFA program and the three circle model: instruction, supervised agricultural experience and student leadership organizations. The FFA motto is Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve. In the views of constructivism, there is no such thing as knowledge independent of the knower, but only knowledge that the student constructs for themselves as they learn. You see, whenever a customer uses a highly specific search phrase, they tend to be looking for exactly what they are actually going to buy. In virtually every case, such very specific searches are far more likely to convert to sales than general generic searches that tend to be geared more toward the type of research that consumers typically do prior to making a buying decision. To help illustrate this phenomenon, let s take a look at the typical step by step buying path that a customer travels on the way to a making a purchase. 1.Consumer becomes aware of a product. 2.Consumer seeks information about that product in preparation for possible purchase. 3.Consumer evaluates alternatives to product (features, pricing, etc...). 4.Consumer makes their purchase decision. 5.Consumer pulls out their credit card and completes the transaction. 6.Consumer then evaluates the product after buying it and decides if they want to keep or return it. Hamid s use of US immigration affects the plot of the story as it connects to the theme of identity, through the use of ashamed tone as well as precise diction. First of all, the use of ashamed tone demonstrates how US immigration is associated with the theme of identity. For example, as Changez rides in a limousine with his colleagues, he spots a Filipino driver: There was an undisguised hostility in his expression; I had no idea why ... But his dislike was so obvious, so intimate, that it got under my skin. I stared back at him, getting angry at myself. (67). The words hostility and dislike emphasize the negative perception... For instance, as Changez arrives at Manila with Underwood Samson, he states: Perhaps it was for this reason that I did something in Manila I had never done before: I attempted to act and speak, as much as my dignity would permit, more like an American. Even though Changez is a US immigrant, it is suggested that he still acted in a Pakistani behavior, as he states how he had never specifically acted in the stereotypical American way. Additionally, the fact that Changez attempts to act like an American demonstrates how his identity isn t just American, but also Pakistani as well. This defines the theme of identity, as Changez feels troubled and confused about where he really is from, and where his loyalties lie. Furthermore, Changez states how at Manila, he learned to answer, when asked where [he] was from, that [he] was from New York. (65). Changez stating how he was specifically from New York shows how he identifies the place as home, similar to his real home in Pakistan. It is shown through previous chapters that New York contains many parts of Pakistani culture, explaining why Changez relates to New York in such a cheerful and excited tone. Even so, while many relate the US and New York as identical, Changez separates the two places, stating how America represents the egotistical, condescending behavior that it expresses on others. Coppula uses psychological horror to illustrate the barrier between Willard s world and Kurtz s world as a means of horror in the viewer s mind. The second type of horror is gore, in which a painful experience is relayed to the viewer. Gore comes to life in films by using special effects to have the viewer empathize with the characters. The best example of this in Apocalypse Now is when the river boat captain is speared through the chest gruesomely. He then attempts to impale Willard, by him towards him and using the same blood soaked spear still in him, before he inevitably dies. When you see the captain get speared through his chest you feel sympathy for his suffering and you feel his anger when he tries to kill Willard. At the same time, the viewer feels the desperation of Willard as he fends for his own life. Coppula uses gore horror here to create the element of empathy and fear for both the Captain, who dies for what is really Willard s war, and for Willard, who inadvertently has killed the Captain by putting him in this situation. The surprise horror is created through a dramatic presentation of events or a sudden shocker. By timing a motion or noise correctly the viewer experiences the danger themselves of a situation. The scene that best uses surprise horror in the film is when Willard and the character Chief are in the jungle looking for mangos. The two are suddenly attacked by a tiger from out of ... Two months later in January 1919, delegates from all over the world came to Paris to conclude the peace settlement that would end the war. Six months of intense discussions and debates ended up on the signing of Treaty of Versailles. Three major figures dominated the peace making, with the less noticeable presence of a forth one, that are namely: the American president Wilson, the French Prime Minister Clemenceau, and the British Prime Minister Lloyd Georges and the passive Italy personified by the Prime Minister Orlando. Those peacemakers are seen by many (scholars, historians, politics...) as injudicious and dogmatic. They were also perceived as vindictive with respect to the fate they have reserved to Germany. Hence, fully grown adults differ from infants due to the fact that they value life and have the capacity to retain their memories and personal identity. They can engage in rational thought and appreciate their existence. Infants aren t even capable of grasping their existence, leave alone any memories. Hence, they shouldn t even be considered to be persons. However, this objection isn t valid since eventually even infants will develop the capability to think, retain memories and value life since abilities are developmental in nature. Also, if rationality and self awareness define personhood and determine the moral significance of persons, then there are many fully grown adults who can be disqualified as persons, for example an adult under coma. According to this argument, since comatose patients are unconscious and can t rationally think at the time, killing them would be permissible too. ARGUMENT I argue that infanticide is impermissible under any circumstance. I will support my stance by arguing against Peter Singer s argument that supports the infanticide of disabled infants. In Taking Life: Humans, Singer states that if we can morally kill a disabled fetus that has no self consciousness, it follows that we can morally kill a disabled infant that has no self consciousness. Take note that Singer argues in favor of committing infanticide of only disabled infants if it serves the interests of the parents. He does not argue that it is right to ... Ammianus Marcellinus, a Roman writer states in the History of Rome, that The nation of the Huns surpasses all other barbarians in wildness of life... They fight in no regular order of battle... It must be owned that they are the most terrible of warriors because they fight at a distance with missile weapons having sharpened bones admirably fastened to the shaft. When in close combat with swords, they fight without regard to their own safety . Marcellinus sees how the Hunsfighting style is completely different to that of the Romans and therefore finds it to be extremely terrible. The exaggerated language and bias of this piece is clear and as a Roman writer,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Jordanes, a 6th Century Roman bureaucrat, describes how [Attila] was indeed a lover of war, yet restrained in action; mighty in counsel, gracious to suppliants, and lenient to those who were once received under his protection . Furthermore, Attila refused to be seduced by wealth as Priscus explains how Attila ate nothing but meat on a wooden trencher... his cup was of wood, while to the guests were given goblets of gold and silver. His dress, too, was quite simple, affecting only to be clean. The sword he carried at his side, the latchets of his Scythian shoes, and the bridle of his horse were not adorned, like those of the other Scythians, with gold or gems or anything costly . Both of these accounts document how humble Attila could be, Huns valued gold, and would often brag about their wealth, but, as these two accounts document, Attila acted modestly about his wealth. Furthermore, Priscus observed Attila with his son and noted a tenderness, as he wrote: He drew him close... and gazed at him with gentle eyes . As Roman writers Priscus and Jordanes gain nothing by writing positively about Attila, and therefore we can assume that these accounts are fairly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
