Essay On Corporate Social Responsibility
Crafting an essay on the subject of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) presents a unique set
of challenges that can be both intellectually stimulating and demanding. Addressing this topic
requires a comprehensive understanding of not only business practices but also the broader social
and environmental implications of corporate actions.
One of the challenges lies in navigating the complex landscape of CSR, which encompasses a
wide range of ethical, environmental, and philanthropic considerations. This requires a thorough
examination of diverse perspectives and an ability to synthesize information from various
sources.
Moreover, the dynamic nature of CSR, with evolving standards and expectations, adds an extra
layer of difficulty. Staying current with the latest trends and incorporating relevant case studies
is essential for producing a well-informed and timely essay.
Balancing the discussion is another hurdle. It is crucial to explore both the positive impacts of
CSR initiatives and potential criticisms or shortcomings. Striking the right tone and maintaining
objectivity while delving into corporate practices can be challenging, as opinions on the
effectiveness and sincerity of CSR efforts can vary widely.
Additionally, the interdisciplinary nature of the topic requires a writer to integrate knowledge
from fields such as business, ethics, environmental studies, and sociology. This demands not only
a broad understanding but also the ability to synthesize diverse concepts into a cohesive
narrative.
In conclusion, composing an essay on Corporate Social Responsibility demands a combination of
research skills, critical thinking, and the ability to navigate a complex landscape of ethical
considerations. However, with the right approach and dedication, one can create a compelling
and insightful piece on this crucial aspect of modern business practices.

Hampton Inns
A subcommittee of the board of directors of Hampton Inns has made a bold proposal
that customers be given a guarantee of complete satisfaction or your night s stay is
free . Employees will be permitted to make good on this guarantee without the
approval of managers. But although the proposed guarantee would show great
confidence in the hotels quality and would give Hampton Inns a competitive
advantage, most of the hotels managers oppose the plan. Why would they not want to
guarantee customer satisfaction? What are the possible customer reactions to such a
guarantee? What controls can be introduced to reduce customer abuse?

This may cause the employee to make decisions which may not be conducive to the
business, which the manager has no control over therefore leading to too many
invocations and loss of profitability.
What are possible customer reactions to such a guarantee?
Potential and existing customers could be attracted to the hotel due to the reduction
of the perceived risk of booking and staying at Hampton Inn (i.e. if I stay at Hampton
Inns and I do not have complete satisfaction at least I would be able to get my night
free).
The customer may be given a perception of superior quality based on the service
guarantee offered. As a result of the service guarantee made, customers would expect
superior service, since hotels would not want to give away free nights.
The hotel may be seen as a reliable supplier. Customers may have increased loyalty
based on service recovery in the case of service failure, and may spread the positive
reviews about the hotel via word of mouth.
Customers may want to try to abuse the system at the hotel, by trying to use trivial
complaints in order to invoke the promise of the free night. For instance, after
Hampton Inn spotted a guest who invoked its guarantee 18 times within one year,
they put this customer on a blacklist. (Van Looy, Gemmel amp; Dierdonck, 2003)
Perception of reduced quality of the hotel based on the fact that the service
Problems Associated With Urban Noise Pollution
Introduction
Urban noise pollution is causing increased health risks in the population. This is due
both to the fact that noise levels, particularly those associated with transport, have
increased dramatically since the mid twentieth century and that a higher percentage
of the world population is now concentrated in urban systems. This problem has
also increased economic costs due to failing health and reduced productivity of the
population, affecting between 0.2% and 2% of gross domestic product in the US. In
the European Union, the costs range between $13 billion and $38 billion per year. In
addition, traffic noise causes the depreciation of properties exposed to high noise
levels.
Studies on urban noise are becoming more numerous, ... Show more content on

As a starting point, vehicles were classified into the following categories:
motorcycles, cars (including cars, trucks, small delivery vans and microbuses),
buses, mini buses (small buses) and trucks (over 3 tons). Subsequently, we
conducted measurements of single noise on the streets of the city (n = 533
vehicles), seeking to exclude the impact of other vehicles and other sources of
noise. To this end, we used an integrated Extech type II sound level meter (SLM) to
evaluate the instantaneous sound level (Li,1sec) during the approach and passage
of each vehicle in front of the SLM on roads with 1 and 2 lanes. These
measurements followed conventional techniques and were conducted using a
tripod and a windscreen at a height of 1.2 m at a distance of 1 m from the road with
A and slow weights. In parallel, we gauged the pace at which every vehicle was
voyaging utilizing manual Bushnell supplies. In all cases, the predominating
conditions included level, dry streets, wind speeds short of what 4 km/h and a low
frequency of other clamor sources.
For each type of vehicle, we conducted a regression analysis between the maximum
noise level (when passing in front of the SLM) and speed. Because this yielded low
coefficients of determination, we implemented classification trees to dissociate
subgroups depending on the speed of vehicles. Subsequently, we averaged all noise
levels recorded in each subgroup at time zero (passing in front of the SLM) and
Disparity Between The Passion Of The Christ by Mel
Gibson...
The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson, recounts the last twelve hours of the life of
Jesus of Nazareth, portraying his arrest, trial, crucifixion and death. One of the most
popular religious movies in modern times, it therefore becomes susceptible to
criticism. Although the film is based upon the stories within the four gospels of
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, there are many exaggerations and non biblical
elements present in the movie. This is not unexpected, since it is a movie, but the
vivid detail of the brutality in the movie as well as the Anti Semitic theme are the
most publicly criticized elements of the movie. The Passion emphasizes the brutality

After re reading some of the gospels, it doesn t explain or declare that he was shy
about his beliefs. In the scenes of the movie, he is preaching his peace and ideas of
independence, but the high priests and the Jewish people do not show him any mercy
or respect. Even at the voice of the governor Pontius Pilate, who several times
mentions that he doesn t find any guilt or reason to persecute Jesus, the people still
wish for his crucifixion. The movie did not really make sense of the motivation of
the Jewish high priests or the Jewish people, and it was not explained in the
gospels either. However, in Mark 15; 10 11, it suggests that Pontius Pilate realized
that it was out of jealousy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over. The chief
priests, however, had incited the crowd to demand that he should release Barabbas
for them instead . Therefore, according to the Bible, the chief priests were envious
of Jesus, and that is why they condemned him to be crucified. It was an act of panic
more than anything else. The people, fearing to be considered outcasts, therefore
agreed with whatever the high priests would say. This still does not explain why the
Jewish people were so quick to have their savior and messiah killed. The movie
suggests that they all felt passionately about this themselves, because all the people in

Learning Styles Which Are Visual, Auditory And.
M3 Learning Styles
There are three main learning styles which are Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic. The
three of these are different ways of how you prefer to learn, and how you consume
information efficiently.
Visual Learning
This style uses images, pictures, colours and maps to let the learner see, so they
are able to consume the information and communicate with other people. You able
to visualize objects and the outcomes in your mind s eye. The learner has a good
spatial sense, which enables you to have a good sense of direction. This means
that you can easily find your way around maps and hardly get lost. If you re a
visual learner then you use other visual media to help to learn. This will allow you to
make your visualizations stand out more and make sure that new material among
others are able to float inside your head.
The main characteristics of a visual learner are that they remember what they see,
instead of what they hear. They also prefer diagrams, pictures and to read and write
rather than listening. This learner is usually good at spelling, but forgets names, and
needs to study in quite. Also, they would tune out when they try to pay attention and
they would need an overall new and purpose beginning a project.
Auditory Learning
This style involves the learner to consume information through listening. They depend
on hearing and speaking as they main way of learning. The learner has to be able to
hear what is being said, so they can understand the
Animals Should Not Be Zoos
Imagine being a zoo animal. Wouldn t the animal want to be free, and not in
captivity? There should not be zoos. From outside of a cage it is barely noticeable,
but what is happening to the zoo animals is not right. There should not be zoos
because animals cannot exercise which leads to health issues, they have little to
no space which causes depression, and there are other places that help animals in a
safer and more productive way. The history of zoos is that animals would be in tin
cages, now, they live in fake terrain, so none of these habitats are appropriate for
animals. Zoos say that they are helping endangered animals, but really they are
killing them. Most animals in zoos do not get enough exercise as part of their
daily schedule, and when animals exercise is lacking, health issues are occurring
more frequently. For instance, stressed animals signal depression or psychoses.
When elephants at zoos sway from side to side, the people outside of the cage
believe it is a normal motion for the animal, but it is actually a signal of stress.
Behaviors like these are mainly caused by a lack of privacy, mental stimulation
and physical exercise. To help the animals, some zoos give tranquilizers or
antidepressants to control these kinds of behaviors in animals. Animals do not
deserve this, but still lack exercise. For example, cheetahs in the wild pace 0% to
5% of their day, but at the Milwaukee County Zoo, 64% of their day is spent doing
this. Cheetahs are one of the most endangered animals at the zoo because at zoos
they only live to age 16 or 17, while in the wild they live to be 30 or older. As a
result of this lack of exercise provided by zoos, zoos are not matching the animals
natural exercise behaviors, so the animals become unhealthy. Most animals stuck in
zoos live by themselves even if they are meant to live in herds. While in the wild,
playful african elephants live peacefully and splash each other with their trunks. In
zoos with cages there is not enough space to play and enjoy themselves. The
average size of elephants is 7 feet, and they live in 12 foot enclosed cages, so that
leaves them with only 5 feet to move around. Elephants can not move, nor use their
trunks and this causes them to die
Truman Elementary Essay
Truman Elementary located in Lafayette is a Montessori school built on Dr. Maria
Montessori teaching. The campus is entirely populated with four to five year olds
and is the only La4 preschool in the state. The earliest a child can attend Truman is at
the age of three, but they have to be four by September 1st. At Truman, the
preschoolers rule the roost and have the opportunity to become comfortable with the
schoolroutine in a safe environment. Truman s preschoolers and kindergarten only
student body also means the students can engage in activities whenever they want,
without fear of disturbing the work of older students. It also means that Truman is
a unique, energy filled campus where every day is a fun day. The goal of the
program is to ensure that every child enters school ready to learn, and it is working.

On orientation day, parents are provided with many different services such as
transportation, nursing, child welfare, attendance, and lunch forums. The school also
offers parents a resource center if any parent needs help or if he or she would like to
work on anything there is staff to assist them. The school s philosophy of working
with parents and families is every child is important. Throughout the school year a
parent is given newsletters from the school that gives the parents insight about
upcoming events. One event that the students love is the fall festival because the
parents can participate. The Fall Fest allows parents to come together and enjoy
music, food, and games. Other events that they conduct during the school year are
graduation, movement with mom, and a winter festival. A few communication
methods they utilize are text messages, newsletters, paste message, and phone
Analysis Of Jean Dubois s The Battle We Wage
DuBois s purpose is to try to convince people to see blacks as equal to whites, and
DuBois largely uses people s patriotism to make his readers relate and associate with
his cause. These appeals to emotion, combined with his strong voice and diction,
create an effective argument for equal rights and treatment for all people.
DuBois uses patriotism to make people feel guilty and ashamed in order to align
people with his cause of equal rights for all people, white and black. DuBois feels
that equality is necessary for all people not only because the Constitution states that
all men are created equal , but because it is a human right that belongs to any
freeborn American. The battle we wage is not for ourselves alone but for all true ...

DuBois feels that inequality will slowly eat away at America because inequality
requires people to have different morals and ethics than the ones used to build our
nation, which weakens our foundation. Separation in railways and street cars, based
simply on race and color, is un American, un democratic, and silly. Dubois is once
again attempting to create a feeling of guilt. DuBois creates guilt by calling the people
that are in favor of segregation not only un American, but just silly. DuBois s purpose
in creating these emotions in the audience is to get them to side with his cause, to
reflect on their previous actions and thoughts and realize that they aren t doing the
right thing, and that they should start listening to DuBois.
DuBois uses a chiasmus to engage his audience with a call to action in order to
persuade his audience to fix problems with segregation. Dubois wants all children to
be given the opportunity of a proper education, not just white children, because he
feels that the school systems in the South are a disgrace and in few towns and cities
are Negro schools what they ought to be. DuBois wants the national government to
step in and wipe out illiteracy in the South he then goes out and states that Either the
United States will destroy ignorance or ignorance will destroy the United States. The
chiasmus DuBois uses is meant to produce an ultimatum, to give the audience
Mayor Of Casterbridge Narcissistic Characteristics
Renowned author and poet, Thomas Hardy, was born and raised in the English
village of Dorset, a town that s known for it s ability to remained relatively
unchanged in both quality of life and mentalities for hundreds of years. Hardy
explores the characters in the town of Casterbridge in his novel, The Mayor of
Casterbridge, which is based on his own hometown of Dorset. Within this town of
Casterbridge, we follow, as Hardy puts it, A Story of a Man of Character. This
supposed Man of Character is Michael Henchard, who challenges the reader s
perception of what it means to have character. It also follows the characters of
Elizabeth Jane, Henchard s daughter, and Donald Farfrae, his co worker and later
rival. During the course of the book, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that Henchard felt a sense of entitlement to Elizabeth Jane, a clear
quality of a narcissist. Just like a child who has had a toy taken away from him, he
becomes upset that something he views as his, no longer belongs to him. This is
revealed earlier on with his fixation of having her take his last name, thus marking
her as his. Just like a true narcissist this brings out a narcissistic rage in Henchard.
He quickly begins to criticize and rage at her for anything she does that reminds
him of his former life. For example, her occasional pretty and picturesque use of
dialect words , which reveal her poor upbringing, force Henchard to think of his
own past when he too was poor (99). Though, quite hypocritically, though he is
uncultivated himself he becomes the bitterest critic the fair girl could possibly
have had of her own lapses (100). He is quick to rage and condemn Elizabeth Jane
for her inability to completely erase the tongue of her past, though ironically he can t
erase his past either. Just like how Elizabeth Jane s accent occasionally slips into her
speech, similarly, Henchard s past throughout the novel continues to slip into his new
life. Needs more quotes: As the novel progresses, his attempt to control Elizabeth
Jane, and thus his past, begins to negatively affect the course of his future. After
Henchard s first wife, Susan, dies he sets his sight on marrying Lucetta, as they had

Cyber Crime Regulation
The idea of internet crime regulation has been around for quite awhile, yet no one has
taken this subject seriously. Cybercrime is a major problem in the US which needs to
be brought to an end, immediately. There are many questions raised when cybercrime
regulation is brought up. These questions include the status quo, problems with the
status quo, why now is the most opportune time for change, the alternatives,
drawbacks, benefits, funding issues, who will regulate the internet, and the
punishments for these crimes.
Today the status quo about internet crime regulation seems to be perplexed. One
part of the status quo held by the general public is that crime on the internet must be
defeated to keep the public safe. Another part of this that people have is that the
internet should be free of monitoring and regulations, in order to secure personal
privacy. The problem with the first quo is that it is extremely difficult to end all
forms of crime that occur on the web. This is due to the complexity and sheer mass
of crimes which occur there. The unfathomable number of crimes committed on the
web are difficult to regulate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sure, most people are opposed to increasing taxes, but having a secure web is of
utmost importance for national security. Another way to gain funding for
cybercrime regulation is through fines. These fines would be part of the charges to
the criminals that rule the internet. Cyber crime may be regulated by the
Department of Homeland Security. The DHS already deals partially with internet
based crimes, so they would be able to expand on this. Another option is to create a
new agency who specializes specifically in regulating internet crime. This agency
would only focus on cybercrimes. In addition, crimes on the internet would be
federal offences if they occur in multiple states. These crimes would be state offenses
if they occur in only one
Distance Learning Disadvantages
Looking at All Sides Distance learning is an emerging method of learning.
Everyone can learn in every time at any location as long as they can access to
Internet. I use distance learning as well. During the last summer vacation, I began to
study how to play guitar by myself through some videos which is posted on the
Internet by some professional guitarists. Now I have gotten the first level guitar
certificate. The distance learning help me a lot. However, some people think distance
learning is useless compared with traditional classroom. Though people have various
opinions based on their experience, social roles and information from others, I still
believe it is necessary to look at all sizes because it can strengthen our own opinions
and reduce misunderstanding. Some of parents question about distance learning.
They think distance learning is useless because it does not have supervisors like
teachers. Students may be distracted by the relaxing environment at home and do not
finish their homework on time. At the same time, some teachers also point out that
distance learning is not as efficient as classroom because it cannot have a discussion
and participation with peers and teachers. Without other students, they may lose the
passion about study. What is more, Communication with others also an important
lesson to students. By contrast, other students and office workers believe that
distance learning can also be flexible for them. They can learn wherever

The Body Ritual Among the Nacirema As an individual coming to investigate
American civilization through the observation of cultural activities, I find the ritual
of medicine men and women (doctors, psychiatrists and pharmacists) very interesting.
Medicine man or medicine woman are English terms used to describe traditional
healers and spiritual leaders among Native American and other indigenous or
aboriginal peoples (Unknown 2012 В¶2).

A physician, just like the healers of the past, are concerned with promoting,
maintaining or restoring human health through the treatment of disease, injury, and
other physical and mental impairments. Similarities still exist in that the medical
practice properly requires both a detailed knowledge of the academic science based
disciplines underlying diseases and their treatment the science of medicine and also a
decent competence in its applied practice the art or craft of medicine.
Reflection As I read through The Body Ritual Among the Nacirema, I felt as those
it was very brutal and barbaric in practice. However, after reflecting upon a single
piece of the passage, the ritual of healing, I see similarities and ties to common day
performance. Although the techniques and procedures have been refined and the
educational requirements vastly improved, the practices have a historical basis. It
makes me wonder if in a thousand years from now, our modern day physician will
too seem wicked and uncivilized.

Gender And Gender Discrimination
The gender gap should be vanished. It gives inequality against women and men. It
make woman feel less than man in the work place for it gives them to many
obstacles .others think it s not an important issue to talk about because they do want
a change they want to stay how it has been for decades. They think that it should stay
like that because it was meant to be like that. I believe there should be a change
womanshould fight for their right that belongs to them. Women are capable of being
what they want if they have the desire and the willingness to fight for it. Therefore, it
is important to close this gendergap for equality for man and woman in their
education, their employment, and even their government.
The gender gap has decreased thanks to society accepting woman as independent
beings. For example now we tent to see more lawyer doctors and scientist females
than we did a couple of decades before. However, we need more change to
demolish that gap. For instance, we have to decrease that high rate they give
woman that open their business. Many woman are capable of doing what men are
doing. Personally, I believe a woman is an amazing being capable of being smarter
and hardworking than a man if she believes in herself. Around 10% of people that
are in the top of a business are woman. However, 100% of those women are the ones
that are paid the least even though they are doing the same job as their colleagues.
Many business do not like hiring woman because they believe
The Best Wi Fi Cameras And Their High Quality Image...
Owning a digital Wi Fi camera is advantageous as high quality image processing is

storage unit of choice is very simple. There indeed many Wi Fi digital cameras you
can opt for, however, as a consumer, you should be specific with the specs you are in
for whenever you want to buy a camera. Many of us do rely on internet reviews so
that the right choice can be regarding camera quality.
Reviews are good. However, many of them are written from a marketing perspective
to bait the consumers into buying just for the sake of profiting the seller. The
marketing bait shouldn t mean you stay away from reading reviews as there as the
matter of fact is that there are very many genuine Wi Fi digital camera reviews you
can rely on to make an informed decision. Here, we are going to describe some of the
five best Wi Fi digital cameras which we believe you should look forward to owning.

Fujifilm is known for its high quality cameras, and its Wi Fi enabled Fujifilm XP90

one aspect which makes it great is the crystal clear 3 inches display LCD monitor.

Inmate Care Problem
Medical problems do not magically disappear once someone has been incarcerated.
If anything, I believe they are more prevalent within corrections. I say that because
the first thing said from many people I arrest is, I need to see a doctor and get my
medications. I have even arrested people who openly told me the reason they broke
the law is so they could get free medical attention, such as surgery or dental work.
This not only hurts the budget of a jail or prison, but also the pockets of taxpayers.
According to York, Inmate health care costs are on the rise. This is not surprising
knowing that a great percentage of the inmate population is involved in a risky life of

When looking at medical problems reported, females were more probable to report
a medical problem versus male inmates. In addition, females are more likely to
report two or more medical problems versus male inmates. I can relate to this first
hand, because many women I have arrested stated that they were pregnant or they
have back issues. Even though prior to coming to jail, they were drinking, taking
drugs, and failed to mention they were pregnant or had back issues. This report also
showed as the age of the inmate increases so does the likelihood of a medical
problem being reported. In addition, hearing and visions reports also increase with
age. Leaning, speech, hearing, vision, mobility, and mental impairment are the six
impairments that are reported by inmates. Both male and female inmates were equal
in reporting of having at least one of the six impairments. When it comes to mental
impairment, females were more likely to report than males. Injuries will occur within
prisons, whether accidental or because of fighting. The report shows that both state
and federal inmates are more likely to report accidental injuries versus fight related
The Death Of The Funeral
The Death of the Funeral Business Rough Draft
In the essay The Death of the Funeral Business , the author Sandy Hingston
repeatedly illustrates the different roles that technology plays in constructing modern
funeral rituals. Over the past years, technology has become such a big part of our
daily lives, that now funeral homes are changing rapidly to fit in with all of the
technological advances that have been happening to the world around us. I believe
that in The Death of the Funeral Bussiness Hingston works to describe how
technology has changed the values society has towards death and decay writing about
how technology has changed funerals and societies view them.
The Death of the Funeral Business is an article explaining why the traditions of
having a funeral have declined over the past years. According to some of the research
that Hingston made, in 1998, only 24 percent of Americans were cremated compared
to in 2012, where over 43 percent of Americans were cremated. Throughout the article
Hingston explains why technology has been a huge impact on the decline of funeral
traditions.
Technology has advanced right before our eyes and most of us fail to realize, but
now we revolve around technology. When people died years ago, they didn t leave
much behind. For example, the only thing that Hingston s mom left behind was a
single photograph that she wanted all of her grandchildren to have. Hingstons writes,
Mom got her wish; her grandkids all have copies of that

My fourth resource is an article listing many of the infamous Jim Crow laws that
suppressed many African Americans in the southern united states, until they were

disgraceful these laws actually were. This fits well in my essay, because it shows
multiple examples of how Jim Crow lawswere racist, and can be used as a good basis
for the case of referencing past racist events that have a conclusion. Jim Crow laws
are good for referencing when making sure new racist laws are not allowed to be
passed into law, but shouldn t be used as a reason to say racismexists in today s world.

Argumentative Essay On Online Matchmaking
Looking for love? When looking to satisfy the person you have always wanted, dating
online may just not enough. What you need is online matchmaking. Just what is
online matchmaking?
Matchmaking is actually a a process of introducing 2 people with a view towards
marriage. Online matchmaking is just matchmaking via technology. How does it
work?
A matchmaking site requires someone to input a lot of details about yourself plus the
type of person you want. This is and locate your the most appropriate prospect(s),
beyond mere physical attributes.
There several positive aspects to online matchmaking though the top ones are:
1. Numbers: A large and wide network of folks all seeking mates. This offers you the

The best route is thru a reputable online matchmaking site. Not to be confused having
a general dating site, a matchmaking site is tailored towards serious relationships.
There are, basically, 2 kinds of matchmaking sites:
1. Those that perform matching to suit your needs. You cannot view other members
profiles. They show you when a compatible match has been discovered. With this
type, you ve little treatments for whom you get matched with. Some of the most
successful matchmaking sites operate that way.
2. Those that carry out the matching in your case as well as let you carry out the
searching. With these, you ve more control and suppleness, though it doesn t
necessarily guarantee greater success.
It isn t the place of this information to tell you which kind of online matchmaking site
to get started with: that is the personal decision. But you cannot compromise for the
quality of the site as you could be compromising around the quality of your
respective love.
In these days of quick fixes, some individuals expect to sign up using a matchmaking
site today and find anyone of their dreams tomorrow. This is possible, but unlikely.

Perspectives Of Community Members And Parents
perspectives of community members and parents (Tinkler, 2013; Boyle Baise and
Langford, 2004; Bell, Horn, and Roxas, 2007) Service learning often leads to an
opportunity to enjoy formal and informal networks which lead to employment,
leadership opportunities, and an expansion of cultural knowledge. It may be
meaningful to consider how parents and residents of economically disadvantaged
neighborhoods might similarly benefit from providing services to local schools.
Exosystem Level Partners
Benson, Harkavy, Puckett, (2000) suggest that a primary issue that academics and
education practitioners should seek to resolve is how democracy is realized in
neighborhoods. Inspired by John Dewey, the authors suggest that strengthening local
democratic neighborly communities is a way of advancing collaborative
relationships. The authors propose that partnering with university supported research
programs and academically based community service learning programs is one way
of forging democratic and mutually beneficial partnerships between academic
institutions and communities. University partnerships within challenged
communities have in instances been conceptualized as a means of intervention
(Cohen, 2001). However, this intervention has at times resulted in projects which
position the university researchers and their service learning programs students as
problem solvers, attempting to examine poverty and a community s state of decline,
and characterize the residents of the
Project Approach Advantages And Disadvantages
The project approach enables children to emerge in projects which they are
interested in, in order to encourage them to raise and ask questions while teachers
will provide materials and allow children to find answers by themselves rather than
telling them the answer directly. For example, if children wonder where breads
come from, or how they are made, teachers may arrange a field trip where they can
find the answers by asking an experienced baker from a bakery, or staff from the
supermarket, and such. Children are also encouraged to use modern technology like
the internet to search for answers under adult supervision or through the traditional
way of going to the library and look for relevant books. A project investigation

The main challenge of the project approach is that teachers need to know children
very well in order to be able to understand and fulfill their curiosity. It requires a lot
of time and dedications to learn and understand each child s individual strength and
interests. Another challenge is part of the planning. Although there is no assigned
topic as it is based on children s interest, the teacher has to make sure there is unity
and cohesiveness which every child in class can appreciate at the same time and not
only favoring a certain child s interest. As various interests are developed, teachers
have to keep the communication focused on the value of each group s equal
contribution in terms of knowledge and understanding of the chosen topic by all
children in class.
To conclude, despite the challenges project approach face, it is a great way to
develop in depth thinking while engaging the heart and minds of young children.
Project work offers a wide variety of opportunities for young children s ideas to be
appreciated, their creativity to be encouraged, their interests to be fostered, and for
their learning needs to be met in order to develop a life long love of learning and
understand the interconnected relationship of all things. These are the unique
characteristics of project
Life Span Development Paper
According to Cliff Notes, Developmental psychology is the scientific study of age
related changes throughout the human life span. A discipline of scientific inquiry,
developmental psychology recognizes humans of all societies and cultures as beings
who are in process, or constantly growing and changing. This discipline identifies the
biological, psychological, and social aspects that interact to influence the growing
human life span process. Within the last 25 years, developmentalist s researchers who
study human development expanded their focus to include the study of the physical,
motor, cognitive, intellectual, emotional, personality, social, and moral changes that
occur throughout all stages of the life span (cliff notes).... Show more content on

The last stage is the Formal operational stage. This stage is for ages eleven and up.
This is the stage when thoughts are better conserved, more logical and more
thought out. More hypothetical thinking occurs in this stage. I believe that any of
these stages can be affected by many factors. These factors include environment
and surroundings, genes, and everyday interactions. As a parent I feel that it is
very important to have day to day interaction with your child whether they are
newborn or a teenager. I have a 5 month old son and a seven year old daughter. It is
imperative to both of their development for one on one time and interaction as well
as family time. With my son I know it is important to read to him, play and sing
with him to help his development and with my daughter I know it is important to
be patient, help her with her homework, play with her and have open line of
communication to help her with her development. I want to make sure their
development is on track. While the stages of cognitive development identified by
Piaget are associated with characteristic age spans, they vary for every individual. I
remember reading about the girl who was locked up in a room with no furniture
but a mattress, and a dog for a long time. And when the authorities finally got her
out, the little girl thought she was a dog. And even years later after she got help and
therapy, her brain was never able to develop and be right like it should, even
Grease Character Analysis
In the movie Grease, John Travolta portrays the character, Danny. Danny especially
struggles throughout the movie trying to figure out exactly who he is. It remains
very common for teenagers to struggle with identity while going through different
stages of their lives. Identity is a self definition or sense of who one is, where one is
going, and how one fits into society. As much as Danny does not wantto see it when
he is around certain individuals he acts much different than what he does around
other individuals. Furthermore, I will cover four topics on how Danny struggles with
identity throughout the movie Grease with the following topics: how Danny views
himself, how Danny s friends view him, how Sandy views him, and lastly how Danny
changes throughout the movie. John Travoltas character, Danny Zuko, sees himself
as the leader of his group. When he is around his friends he sees himself as such a
badass. For example, in the beginning of the movie when Danny first sees that
Sandy is going to be going to his school, it is easy to notice that Danny is
struggling to decide how he wants to react to her being there because his friends are
around. When Danny is around Sandy, he is a completely different person than he is
around his friends. For instance, in the intro of the movie it shows how the two spent
their summer together at the beach every day. Danny treated Sandy like such a lady.
These two cases show how Danny perceives himself differently around certain

Persuasive Speech Essay
For this assignment, I reviewed Ivan Coyote s persuasive speech, Why We Need
Gender Neutral Bathrooms, In this speech, Ivan told the audience that he was
transgender and had a difficult time using public restrooms. The reason being was
due to the fact that Ivan was not a woman, and not a man. Ivan used a lot of
different persuasive techniques to get the point across that there should be gender
neutral restrooms in every public space and outlet. One of the impactful parts of
this speech was the use of introducing personal stories. This utilizes the term logos
which means evidence and reasoning. It is very difficult to open up and talk about
past experiences that have heavily impacted you in some way. Doing it publicly,
or a greater cause and with a goal of bringing awareness is completely different.
Ivan was able to go to TED and discuss his/her story to the public, while also
knowing it would be taped and posted to the media forever. This was a very
commendable and brave thing for this speaker to do. It was heartbreaking when Ivan
mentioned stories of attempting to do a simple human everyday task, go to the
restroom. Ivan talks about being glared at, being talked about, yelled at, physically
assaulted, and plain dragged out of the restroom by security guards while still pulling
his/her pants up. This is outrageous that because other people are not comfortable
with the idea of transgenderpeople that they have to suffer. It is unfair that coming

The Horror Of Film Films
The genre of film, found footage, is looked down upon in today s society.
Although the genre has a large following, since some if its top movies are the
infamously popular Paranormal Activity series. Some believe the genre is taking
the art away from making the movie and replacing it with jump scares all from the
view of a handheld camera. Others believe it is a new way to make films cheaply
and be able to still deliver the same amount of excitement or even more than your
traditional film. Found footage is always being criticized for all the movies seeming
the same. Not as in the plots of the movie are similar but the camera techniques and
angles are relatively all the same. People are able to guess when most of the jump
scares are about to happen which ruins the scary and surprising aspect of the film.
The Paranormal Activity series, for example, is widely known and considered to
be some of the biggest movies in the genre today. They are also famous for all of
their movies having basically the same plot, setting, and storyline. The genre has
gone from being well liked among the public to becoming boring to watch because
of the mass production of these found footage films. The audiences are getting
bored with all the ideas the directors of these films have and are beginning to resort
to other films. However, this was not the case earlier this decade. The horror film
industry was in a slump and the found footage genre helped to lift them out of this
slump. The quick
Gender, Gender And Gender Bias
Language and gender has become an increasingly popular topic of study over recent
decades, most likely due to the second wave of feminism in the 1960s and 70s. This
can also be seen in the fact that goals of linguistic studies shifted at this point, to not
just look at grammatical differences between males and females but to examine
sexism and genderbias in language. The wording of such studies becomes
increasingly important in the modern era, as gender is now recognised as a socially
constructed concept of masculine and feminine features, based on biological sex but
not limited to that. Simone de Beauvoir (1952) believed that we gradually become
more masculine or feminine but we are not inherently gendered.
Language and gender was not developed as a serious subfield until the 1975
publication of Robin Lakoff s Language and Woman s Place. Lakoff argued that
women use particular language features in order to deny themselves means of
strong expression, which are stereotypically reserved for males. These features
include shows of uncertainty, such as hedging and indirect requests. Indirect
requests include making a statement in hope that it will elicit the desired response
from someone else without openly asking. Women s speech seems... to contain
more instances of well , y know ... words that convey the sense that the speaker is
uncertain about what [she] is saying (Lakoff, 1975:53). Dale Spender (1980) talks
about gender power relations, but disagrees with Lakoff as she
JD Salinger Research Paper
Jerome David Salinger, also known as J. D. Salinger, is a fascinating author best
known for his novel, Catcher in the Rye. Although Salinger only published one
novel, he wrote several short stories for magazines like The New Yorker and Story.
A large number of these stories went on to be compiled into books such as Nine
Stories, Franny and Zooey, and Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters and
Seymour: An Introduction. Despite the fact Salinger has not published any stories in
over 45 years, his reputation is still quite popular. Salinger s stories are studied in
high schools and colleges, introducing thousands of individuals to his writing and

a member of the Counter Intelligence Corps. After World War II, he was
hospitalized in Germany for psychiatric treatment. In 1951, Salinger s only novel
was published, Catcher in the Rye. His collection of short stories: Nine Stories,
Franny and Zooey, and Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters and Seymour: An
Introduction were published in 1953, 1961, and 1963 respectively. In 1953, he

D. married Claire Douglas and had two children, Matthew and Margaret. The
couple divorced in 1967. Since the late 80s Salinger has been married to Colleen O

causes on January 27, 2010.
Salinger s Influence Salinger s writing has influenced several generations. So many

Old Kingdom Art Vs Greek Art
The comparison between Revelers and Mer ib and his wife in their chambers of
sacrifice depicts the contrast between the conventionalized style of Egypt and the
advances toward realism by the Greeks, primarily in the representation of the human
form. Greek art from the archaic period is distinguished by artistic development and
a growing interest in the body and how to realistically depict it. While, the Egyptian
old kingdom art is stylistically determined by conventions that are used by almost all
of Egypt, except the Amarna period. These conventions convey the human body with
reference to established rules rather than what is observed. When first looking at the
two pieces, the contrast between the depictions of the human form is most evident
Using Logit And Linear Regression Essay
Using Logit and Linear regression, we attempted to understand factors that influence
students to leave their college or University, their average GPA, and graduating in
four years. We tailor our study to first generation students, in relation to PoC
students. Because much of the differences in college success have been linked to
social class and economic background we have controlled for family income, as well
as race, level of cultural capital and students use of universityservices. Our analysis
of the dependent variables for student success; students decision to leave, average
GPA and four year graduation, reveal that first generation status is a significant factor
in all three. Other variables frequently emphasized in education literature on student
success and first generation status, such as cultural capital and peer support had less
of an impact than indicated in previous research. We analyze each dependent variable
separately for independent variables in Wave 2, Wave 3, and Wave 4. And then look
for relational differences in the impact of independent variables both between
dependent variables and over different waves of the study. We present findings in
which the relationship our dependent variables to independent variables are
significant to the 0.5 level of confidence. Independent variables in our study had
different effects on our dependent variables, with some positive correlations and
some negative. Finding presented below start with those affecting students
What Is Listening Skills
Opted skill: Listening skill(s)
Before we start off with the activities, we need to know what the word listening
means. Harmer (2001, p.228) viewed listening as a fundamental language skill. It
provides the perfect opportunity to hear voices other than the teacher s, enable
students to acquire good speaking habits as a result of the spoken English they
absorb, and helps to improve their own pronunciation .
Learning of foreign language rely on four basic skills which can be classified into
receptive and productive skills. Listening and reading comes under receptive whereas
writing and speaking comes under productive. In language learning, out of the four
skills, listening stands to be as one of the most important skill. It is also accounted as

Soren Petersen and Steven Bussard brought up two great examples of this in their

They used the slides introduced by Guy Kawasaki and noted that by changing the
structure slightly and focusing on how you engage the listener, you can create
different types of stories.
First, you could tell an origin story emphasising how things started with your

graphs. Moreover, this project was really amusing because I had the opportunity to

was first based on the cartoonish character Bart of the famous animated comedy The
Simpsons. After analyzing the character, I change many of its features such as the
mouth, nose, eyebrows, and other elements. Furthermore, I changed the eyebrows
and nose and convert them into cosine curves. Similarly, I changed the mouth, hair
and the sleeves of the shirt of my character into sine curves. In order to find the

The donation of mitochondrial is extremely important because 1 in 200 children in
the UK are born with the condition that can lead to disability and death and there is
no cure currently (Mitochondrial donation, 2014).
In the UK there is a shortage of donated gametes even though gamete donation is in
demand (Murray et al,2000) especially within the ethnic minority groups (Purewal et
al, 2005). More often gamete donation is more common within the men population
than it is for the women. This may be down to the simple fact that the technology and
methods for gamete donation for women are more intrusive and lengthy in
comparison to that of a man s. Some oocyte donor express positive attributions about
their donation experience (Jordan et al,2004) whilst others attribute some negative
perceptions mainly about the techniques used and that were involved (Jordan et

Boom Play Analysis
The play that I recently watch was called Boom, it was directed by Gail Dartez
(who holds a MFA from Yale school of Drama), and I have to say for a college
level play, it was acted, directed, and written pretty well. I mean I m not much of an
expert but the play definitely didn t have me looking at my phone for a second.
Boom is just another classic story about Armageddon, with interesting turn of events
and plot twists. Peters armageddon production based on past events was not only
intense, but it was really successful in bringing an old story and trying to make it a
new one. The costumes, set and acting were vital and dramatic in pulling off the
desired effect. But the most important aspect of it all was to used it all together, with
unbelievable attention to detail. You will not be disappointed in watching Boom, as
it has all the aspects of fun, humorous, touching and heartwarming feel to it.... Show

Humans are wrong about a lot of the things. Roy was wrong when he dismissed the
power of prayer. In Kathryn Schulz s Being Wrong, she remarks that the scientific
field is littered with discarded theories (9); the earth is not the center of the
universe and nor is it flat. People are not always who we think they are and, despite
some believing it to be impossible, sometimes the underdog prevails. There is an
abundance of doubt and error to be encountered everyday. However, there are a few
things that we are able to know with our whole being. Believing in something greater
than the human race is something that Schulz s wrongology cannot touch. It is
evident to many, like Roy and myself, that God s healing power is a whole hearted,
honest truth. Part of having faith is that you are able to believe in God without doubt,
even when others do not. Although there is skepticism and disbelief by strangers,
close friends, or even your own family, this belief must be strong enough that you can
follow Him without needing the approval of other people.
Facing the shortcomings of our own beliefs is something that Schulz preaches
throughout Being Wrong. Knowing that something is true with complete faith, like
the way that I believe in God, is not a feat that is easily accomplished. Faith can be
instilled, but it must be something that eventually becomes self evident. I was
Stereotypes In The Unforgiven By Prince Maxon
All royalty seem the same, don t they? They are all civilized, all well mannered,
and most of all, they are all boring, all except for those in the book, The One . In
the book, the characters are anything but civilized and well behaved. The epitome
of bad behavior would be America, the wild ginger who will do anything she deems
morally right, even if it could get her kicked out of the palace. The prince, Maxon,
on the other hand, is far too obedient and struggles throughout the book with whom
he should choose to be his bride; this struggle causes further strife not only between
him and America, but also between him and his father, King Clarkson. So, despite
stereotypes, the princess, the prince, and the king all have a personality of their...

Prince Maxon can also relate problems in his life to those of certain songs. One
song that is particularly similar to Maxon s struggles is called, The Unforgiven, by
Metallica. The song is generally about a parent disparaging their child and ruling
over them. The song goes, The young boy learns their rules. With time, the child
draws in, this whipping boy done wrong, deprived of all his thoughts, the young
man struggles on and on (Metallica, 1991). These lyrics fit very well to the book
because Maxon s father, the king, is bellicose and tends to rule over Maxon s
every move. Not only that, but when Maxon fails to do something precisely to the
king s wishes he is wiped, just like the boy in the song. In the book, more problems
are caused for Maxon when America finds out about his father wiping him.
America states, Undressing Maxon hadn t been a romantic moment, but I couldn t
tell them I d been tending to wounds on his back specifically delivered by his father
(Cass, 21). Despite the cruel fact that what his father is doing is wrong, Maxon
cannot congregate enough courage to stand up to him. It even boils down to the
decisions he makes: I will not have anyone else telling me who I can and cannot
marry! This is my life you re playing games with! (Cass, 43). This statement proves
just how fed up Maxon is of his fathers un ending edicts and everybody s
astronomical expectations. In the song, it also tells of the boy being too scared to
stand up to his parents: What I ve felt, what I ve known, never shined through what I
ve shown (Metallica, 1991). This meaning that he hides what he feels; because of
fear of his father, the king, his emotions and wants never truly make it to the

Bed And Breakfast Of Indi Emerging Opportunities
Bed and Breakfast in India Emerging Opportunities
BY: Dr. GG Saxena
Chapter One
Introduction to the concept of Bed and Breakfast stay
Hotel s stays followed by other accommodation are essential for a traveler visit. This
gave rise to a new concept known as Bread and Breakfast. The term Bed and
Breakfast first evolved in England, Scotland and Ireland whereas terms such as
paradors, pensions, gasthaus, minskukus, shukukos and pousados have been
widely used by various Americans and Europeans. B B have been recognized in
many well known countries like Europe and USA since ages. Therefore, it is to
believe that B B is not a new concept. According to studies, Monasteries used to
serve bread and breakfast (spending nights in native people houses rather than hotels)
for travelers and they still do in some parts of the world.
Understanding B B: Definitions
The subsequent definitions are used by the American Bed Breakfast Association:
B B Home Stay: A private, owner occupied residence in visitors is incidental to the
primary use of the building as a private residence. One to five guest rooms are made
available to transient visitors and provide supplemental income for hosts. Breakfast
is the only meal served and is included in the charge for the room.
B B Inn: A commercially licensed business operated in a building that primarily
provides overnight accommodations to the public even though the owner may live
on the premises. Guest rooms for a B B Inn range
The Book Learner Centered
The book is learner centered. The authors have based their ideas on the experiences of
college students right from the date of enrollment in graduation year. In other words,
the authors has provided some insights in the opinion of college students on how to
share an educational experience with the next generation collegestudents (Bell,
McGrane, Anderson, Gunderson, 2011).
Summary
The book is divided into three main parts: academics and learning, navigating the
institution, and survival strategies (Bell et al., 2011). The first part, academics and
learning, entails the initial experiences of the students. The authors managed to
summarise all these initial encounters into four parts: arrival at college, grades
attained, technology and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
degree from the University of Claremont. Therefore, the information provided in the
book is scholarly and can be relied upon by sociology students (Bell et al., 2011).
Sociological Theories
The book is inclusive. The authors looked at the experiences of students in the
academic perspective, social perspective, religious and technological perspectives.
The authors took the view on the premise that, most experiences at college are
encountered outside their formal learning routine (Bell et al., 2011). Students interact
more outside their normal school or academic routine.
The developmental concept is one of the sociological theories used by the authors to
conduct their research. For instance, the authors have been able to explain in detail
the developmental aspect of college students life as a whole, from religious to
educational aspects.
The purpose of the book
This book is intended to fill a gap in the existing literature. The authors have manged
to achieve this by critically exploring a topic that other scholars have neglected.
Previous studies emphasized the Serious Emotional Disturbance of students in their
studies (Biggins Vaininetti, 2000). Most past studies do not provide an educational
experience to college students, but are only intended to provide some specific
information on matters such as emotional disturbance amongst college students. Bell
et al. (2011) have managed to fill this gap. These authors have been able to connect
the link between

Essay On Corporate Social Responsibility

  • 1. Essay On Corporate Social Responsibility Crafting an essay on the subject of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) presents a unique set of challenges that can be both intellectually stimulating and demanding. Addressing this topic requires a comprehensive understanding of not only business practices but also the broader social and environmental implications of corporate actions. One of the challenges lies in navigating the complex landscape of CSR, which encompasses a wide range of ethical, environmental, and philanthropic considerations. This requires a thorough examination of diverse perspectives and an ability to synthesize information from various sources. Moreover, the dynamic nature of CSR, with evolving standards and expectations, adds an extra layer of difficulty. Staying current with the latest trends and incorporating relevant case studies is essential for producing a well-informed and timely essay. Balancing the discussion is another hurdle. It is crucial to explore both the positive impacts of CSR initiatives and potential criticisms or shortcomings. Striking the right tone and maintaining objectivity while delving into corporate practices can be challenging, as opinions on the effectiveness and sincerity of CSR efforts can vary widely. Additionally, the interdisciplinary nature of the topic requires a writer to integrate knowledge from fields such as business, ethics, environmental studies, and sociology. This demands not only a broad understanding but also the ability to synthesize diverse concepts into a cohesive narrative. In conclusion, composing an essay on Corporate Social Responsibility demands a combination of research skills, critical thinking, and the ability to navigate a complex landscape of ethical considerations. However, with the right approach and dedication, one can create a compelling and insightful piece on this crucial aspect of modern business practices. • 2. Hampton Inns A subcommittee of the board of directors of Hampton Inns has made a bold proposal that customers be given a guarantee of complete satisfaction or your night s stay is free . Employees will be permitted to make good on this guarantee without the approval of managers. But although the proposed guarantee would show great confidence in the hotels quality and would give Hampton Inns a competitive advantage, most of the hotels managers oppose the plan. Why would they not want to guarantee customer satisfaction? What are the possible customer reactions to such a guarantee? What controls can be introduced to reduce customer abuse? A service guarantee (i.e. complete satisfaction or your night s stay is free) makes the customer a meaningful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This may cause the employee to make decisions which may not be conducive to the business, which the manager has no control over therefore leading to too many invocations and loss of profitability. What are possible customer reactions to such a guarantee? Potential and existing customers could be attracted to the hotel due to the reduction of the perceived risk of booking and staying at Hampton Inn (i.e. if I stay at Hampton Inns and I do not have complete satisfaction at least I would be able to get my night free). The customer may be given a perception of superior quality based on the service guarantee offered. As a result of the service guarantee made, customers would expect superior service, since hotels would not want to give away free nights. The hotel may be seen as a reliable supplier. Customers may have increased loyalty based on service recovery in the case of service failure, and may spread the positive reviews about the hotel via word of mouth. Customers may want to try to abuse the system at the hotel, by trying to use trivial complaints in order to invoke the promise of the free night. For instance, after Hampton Inn spotted a guest who invoked its guarantee 18 times within one year, they put this customer on a blacklist. (Van Looy, Gemmel amp; Dierdonck, 2003) Perception of reduced quality of the hotel based on the fact that the service
  • 3. Problems Associated With Urban Noise Pollution Introduction Urban noise pollution is causing increased health risks in the population. This is due both to the fact that noise levels, particularly those associated with transport, have increased dramatically since the mid twentieth century and that a higher percentage of the world population is now concentrated in urban systems. This problem has also increased economic costs due to failing health and reduced productivity of the population, affecting between 0.2% and 2% of gross domestic product in the US. In the European Union, the costs range between $13 billion and $38 billion per year. In addition, traffic noise causes the depreciation of properties exposed to high noise levels. Studies on urban noise are becoming more numerous, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a starting point, vehicles were classified into the following categories: motorcycles, cars (including cars, trucks, small delivery vans and microbuses), buses, mini buses (small buses) and trucks (over 3 tons). Subsequently, we conducted measurements of single noise on the streets of the city (n = 533 vehicles), seeking to exclude the impact of other vehicles and other sources of noise. To this end, we used an integrated Extech type II sound level meter (SLM) to evaluate the instantaneous sound level (Li,1sec) during the approach and passage of each vehicle in front of the SLM on roads with 1 and 2 lanes. These measurements followed conventional techniques and were conducted using a tripod and a windscreen at a height of 1.2 m at a distance of 1 m from the road with A and slow weights. In parallel, we gauged the pace at which every vehicle was voyaging utilizing manual Bushnell supplies. In all cases, the predominating conditions included level, dry streets, wind speeds short of what 4 km/h and a low frequency of other clamor sources. For each type of vehicle, we conducted a regression analysis between the maximum noise level (when passing in front of the SLM) and speed. Because this yielded low coefficients of determination, we implemented classification trees to dissociate subgroups depending on the speed of vehicles. Subsequently, we averaged all noise levels recorded in each subgroup at time zero (passing in front of the SLM) and
  • 4. Disparity Between The Passion Of The Christ by Mel Gibson... The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson, recounts the last twelve hours of the life of Jesus of Nazareth, portraying his arrest, trial, crucifixion and death. One of the most popular religious movies in modern times, it therefore becomes susceptible to criticism. Although the film is based upon the stories within the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, there are many exaggerations and non biblical elements present in the movie. This is not unexpected, since it is a movie, but the vivid detail of the brutality in the movie as well as the Anti Semitic theme are the most publicly criticized elements of the movie. The Passion emphasizes the brutality Jesusendured to give himself for his people, but at the same time in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After re reading some of the gospels, it doesn t explain or declare that he was shy about his beliefs. In the scenes of the movie, he is preaching his peace and ideas of independence, but the high priests and the Jewish people do not show him any mercy or respect. Even at the voice of the governor Pontius Pilate, who several times mentions that he doesn t find any guilt or reason to persecute Jesus, the people still wish for his crucifixion. The movie did not really make sense of the motivation of the Jewish high priests or the Jewish people, and it was not explained in the gospels either. However, in Mark 15; 10 11, it suggests that Pontius Pilate realized that it was out of jealousy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over. The chief priests, however, had incited the crowd to demand that he should release Barabbas for them instead . Therefore, according to the Bible, the chief priests were envious of Jesus, and that is why they condemned him to be crucified. It was an act of panic more than anything else. The people, fearing to be considered outcasts, therefore agreed with whatever the high priests would say. This still does not explain why the Jewish people were so quick to have their savior and messiah killed. The movie suggests that they all felt passionately about this themselves, because all the people in the scenes are
  • 5. Learning Styles Which Are Visual, Auditory And. M3 Learning Styles There are three main learning styles which are Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic. The three of these are different ways of how you prefer to learn, and how you consume information efficiently. Visual Learning This style uses images, pictures, colours and maps to let the learner see, so they are able to consume the information and communicate with other people. You able to visualize objects and the outcomes in your mind s eye. The learner has a good spatial sense, which enables you to have a good sense of direction. This means that you can easily find your way around maps and hardly get lost. If you re a visual learner then you use other visual media to help to learn. This will allow you to make your visualizations stand out more and make sure that new material among others are able to float inside your head. The main characteristics of a visual learner are that they remember what they see, instead of what they hear. They also prefer diagrams, pictures and to read and write rather than listening. This learner is usually good at spelling, but forgets names, and needs to study in quite. Also, they would tune out when they try to pay attention and they would need an overall new and purpose beginning a project. Auditory Learning This style involves the learner to consume information through listening. They depend on hearing and speaking as they main way of learning. The learner has to be able to hear what is being said, so they can understand the
  • 6. Animals Should Not Be Zoos Imagine being a zoo animal. Wouldn t the animal want to be free, and not in captivity? There should not be zoos. From outside of a cage it is barely noticeable, but what is happening to the zoo animals is not right. There should not be zoos because animals cannot exercise which leads to health issues, they have little to no space which causes depression, and there are other places that help animals in a safer and more productive way. The history of zoos is that animals would be in tin cages, now, they live in fake terrain, so none of these habitats are appropriate for animals. Zoos say that they are helping endangered animals, but really they are killing them. Most animals in zoos do not get enough exercise as part of their daily schedule, and when animals exercise is lacking, health issues are occurring more frequently. For instance, stressed animals signal depression or psychoses. When elephants at zoos sway from side to side, the people outside of the cage believe it is a normal motion for the animal, but it is actually a signal of stress. Behaviors like these are mainly caused by a lack of privacy, mental stimulation and physical exercise. To help the animals, some zoos give tranquilizers or antidepressants to control these kinds of behaviors in animals. Animals do not deserve this, but still lack exercise. For example, cheetahs in the wild pace 0% to 5% of their day, but at the Milwaukee County Zoo, 64% of their day is spent doing this. Cheetahs are one of the most endangered animals at the zoo because at zoos they only live to age 16 or 17, while in the wild they live to be 30 or older. As a result of this lack of exercise provided by zoos, zoos are not matching the animals natural exercise behaviors, so the animals become unhealthy. Most animals stuck in zoos live by themselves even if they are meant to live in herds. While in the wild, playful african elephants live peacefully and splash each other with their trunks. In zoos with cages there is not enough space to play and enjoy themselves. The average size of elephants is 7 feet, and they live in 12 foot enclosed cages, so that leaves them with only 5 feet to move around. Elephants can not move, nor use their trunks and this causes them to die

Analysis Of Jean Dubois s The Battle We Wage DuBois s purpose is to try to convince people to see blacks as equal to whites, and DuBois largely uses people s patriotism to make his readers relate and associate with his cause. These appeals to emotion, combined with his strong voice and diction, create an effective argument for equal rights and treatment for all people. DuBois uses patriotism to make people feel guilty and ashamed in order to align people with his cause of equal rights for all people, white and black. DuBois feels that inequality will slowly eat away at America because inequality requires people to have different morals and ethics than the ones used to build our nation, which weakens our foundation. DuBois creates guilt by calling the people that are in favor of segregation not only un American, but just silly. DuBois s purpose in creating these emotions in the audience is to get them to side with his cause, to reflect on their previous actions and thoughts and realize that they aren t doing the right thing, and that they should start listening to DuBois. DuBois uses a chiasmus to engage his audience with a call to action in order to persuade his audience to fix problems with segregation. Dubois wants all children to be given the opportunity of a proper education, not just white children, because he feels that the school systems in the South are a disgrace and in few towns and cities are Negro schools what they ought to be. DuBois wants the national government to step in and wipe out illiteracy in the South he then goes out and states that Either the United States will destroy ignorance or ignorance will destroy the United States. I believe that in The Death of the Funeral Bussiness Hingston works to describe how technology has changed the values society has towards death and decay writing about how technology has changed funerals and societies view them. • 27. Gender, Gender And Gender Bias Language and gender has become an increasingly popular topic of study over recent decades, most likely due to the second wave of feminism in the 1960s and 70s. This can also be seen in the fact that goals of linguistic studies shifted at this point, to not just look at grammatical differences between males and females but to examine sexism and genderbias in language. The wording of such studies becomes increasingly important in the modern era, as gender is now recognised as a socially constructed concept of masculine and feminine features, based on biological sex but not limited to that. Simone de Beauvoir (1952) believed that we gradually become more masculine or feminine but we are not inherently gendered. Language and gender was not developed as a serious subfield until the 1975 publication of Robin Lakoff s Language and Woman s Place. Lakoff argued that women use particular language features in order to deny themselves means of strong expression, which are stereotypically reserved for males. These features include shows of uncertainty, such as hedging and indirect requests. Old Kingdom Art Vs Greek Art The comparison between Revelers and Mer ib and his wife in their chambers of sacrifice depicts the contrast between the conventionalized style of Egypt and the advances toward realism by the Greeks, primarily in the representation of the human form. Greek art from the archaic period is distinguished by artistic development and a growing interest in the body and how to realistically depict it. While, the Egyptian old kingdom art is stylistically determined by conventions that are used by almost all of Egypt, except the Amarna period. These conventions convey the human body with reference to established rules rather than what is observed. When first looking at the two pieces, the contrast between the depictions of the human form is most evident

Using Logit And Linear Regression Essay Using Logit and Linear regression, we attempted to understand factors that influence students to leave their college or University, their average GPA, and graduating in four years. We tailor our study to first generation students, in relation to PoC students. Because much of the differences in college success have been linked to social class and economic background we have controlled for family income, as well as race, level of cultural capital and students use of universityservices. Our analysis of the dependent variables for student success; students decision to leave, average GPA and four year graduation, reveal that first generation status is a significant factor in all three. Other variables frequently emphasized in education literature on student success and first generation status, such as cultural capital and peer support had less of an impact than indicated in previous research. We analyze each dependent variable separately for independent variables in Wave 2, Wave 3, and Wave 4. And then look for relational differences in the impact of independent variables both between dependent variables and over different waves of the study. We present findings in which the relationship our dependent variables to independent variables are significant to the 0.5 level of confidence. Independent variables in our study had different effects on our dependent variables, with some positive correlations and some negative. Finding presented below start with those affecting students

People are not always who we think they are and, despite some believing it to be impossible, sometimes the underdog prevails. There is an abundance of doubt and error to be encountered everyday. However, there are a few things that we are able to know with our whole being. Believing in something greater than the human race is something that Schulz s wrongology cannot touch. It is evident to many, like Roy and myself, that God s healing power is a whole hearted, honest truth. Part of having faith is that you are able to believe in God without doubt, even when others do not. Although there is skepticism and disbelief by strangers, close friends, or even your own family, this belief must be strong enough that you can follow Him without needing the approval of other people. Facing the shortcomings of our own beliefs is something that Schulz preaches throughout Being Wrong. Knowing that something is true with complete faith, like the way that I believe in God, is not a feat that is easily accomplished. Faith can be instilled, but it must be something that eventually becomes self evident. I was

They are all civilized, all well mannered, and most of all, they are all boring, all except for those in the book, The One . In the book, the characters are anything but civilized and well behaved. The epitome of bad behavior would be America, the wild ginger who will do anything she deems morally right, even if it could get her kicked out of the palace. The prince, Maxon, on the other hand, is far too obedient and struggles throughout the book with whom he should choose to be his bride; this struggle causes further strife not only between him and America, but also between him and his father, King Clarkson. Prince Maxon can also relate problems in his life to those of certain songs. One song that is particularly similar to Maxon s struggles is called, The Unforgiven, by Metallica. The song is generally about a parent disparaging their child and ruling over them. The song goes, The young boy learns their rules. With time, the child draws in, this whipping boy done wrong, deprived of all his thoughts, the young man struggles on and on (Metallica, 1991). These lyrics fit very well to the book because Maxon s father, the king, is bellicose and tends to rule over Maxon s every move. Not only that, but when Maxon fails to do something precisely to the king s wishes he is wiped, just like the boy in the song. In the book, more problems are caused for Maxon when America finds out about his father wiping him. America states, Undressing Maxon hadn t been a romantic moment, but I couldn t tell them I d been tending to wounds on his back specifically delivered by his father (Cass, 21). Despite the cruel fact that what his father is doing is wrong, Maxon cannot congregate enough courage to stand up to him. It even boils down to the decisions he makes: I will not have anyone else telling me who I can and cannot marry! This is my life you re playing games with! (Cass, 43). This statement proves just how fed up Maxon is of his fathers un ending edicts and everybody s astronomical expectations. In the song, it also tells of the boy being too scared to stand up to his parents: What I ve felt, what I ve known, never shined through what I ve shown (Metallica, 1991). This meaning that he hides what he feels; because of fear of his father, the king, his emotions and wants never truly make it to the

The authors took the view on the premise that, most experiences at college are encountered outside their formal learning routine (Bell et al., 2011).
